No matter what happens over the next few hours or days... I think we should all agree that spending 99% of your time touting "polling numbers" as if they are proof of sure victory is silly behavior... Trusting polling has been... for three elections in a row now... pretty much an exercise in futility.
At this point, does anyone really feel that Biden is going to win by 7-8 points and take 400 ECV? Time to admit that polling was wrong, again... and that many of these pollsters should either pack it in or figure this whole thing out.
- This could come down to Congressional districts in Nebraska & Maine
- Ohio Called for Trump- Iowa Called for Trump
- Trump currently leading in Pennsylvania and Michigan
(lots of outstanding votes)
- Wisconsin flipped overnight for Biden
- Trump may disappoint in Arizona however

- Biden campaign manager is already talking about how they can still get to 270 without Pennsylvania or Florida?
- That liberal bloggers like Markos are already complaining on Twitter about the Electoral College and the fact that Biden will most assuredly garner more votes?
- That other liberal bloggers like Josh Marshal are talking about voter suppression?
- That Democratic Governors are already wanting to extend polling hours (wouldn't that seem counterintuitive if they dominated early voting)?
- That conservatives Tweeters have been giddily reporting voting numbers in battleground states like Florida, Arizona, and other places, while liberal Tweeters are reporting "voter suppression" and complaining about the electoral college?
- That 538 has yet to provide a single post in their election day thread regarding early voting or same day voting trends (that are being calculated as we speak in most states).
- Nate Silver has tweeted that he is "declining to fall down the election turnout rabbit hole" and now says we will not know anything until polls close and the votes are counted.
- Silver is claiming today that any Republican turnout advantage in these battleground states will be offset by Independent voters flocking to Biden.
Obviously too much can be made of these observations. I sort of agree with Silver on this one. Just because Republicans seem to be outpacing Democrats in same day voting in most of these battleground states, doesn't mean we know how everyone is voting. If the polling is correct, Republicans would need to have historic turnout (compared to Democrats) to make up for a drastic flip with Independent voters. Of course, if Republicans stay home and the buzz regarding Independents trending Biden is overstated, then it actually "could" matter. I also find it hard to believe that polls missed on early voting, partisan turnout, but got the Independents right?

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is running on his record as Barack Obama’s vice president from 2009 to 2017, and President Trump is running against that record. So on the final day of voting in 2020, who did better on the economy?
Biden-Obama by a hair, according to the Yahoo Finance Trumponomics Report Card. Trump’s current grade on the economy is a C, according to our methodology, with low marks for employment, exports and GDP, middling marks for stock prices and manufacturing employment, and top marks for just one thing—earnings. At the same point in the first Biden-Obama term, the economy was two notches better, at a B-. Obama got top marks for stock prices, with low to average marks for everything else.
Trump frequently claims the economy was at record levels before the coronavirus pandemic exploded in March. He’s mostly wrong about that, but the Trump economy was still notably better than the Obama-Biden economy during February of each president’s fourth year. In February 2020, Trump’s grade on the economy was a B+, with high marks on everything except exports. Obama’s grade at the same point in 2012 would have been a C+. The economy gradually improved for Obama as Election Day approached in 2012. Trump’s economy went the opposite direction, largely due to the nation’s inability to control the coronavirus and widespread business shutdowns.

A federal judge has ordered U.S. Postal Service inspectors to sweep postal facilities on Tuesday in several locations — including in six battleground states — to ensure that any mail-in ballots left behind are immediately sent out for delivery.
The last-minute order on Tuesday by Judge Emmet G. Sullivan in Washington, D.C., directs the law enforcement arm of the Postal Service to inspect facilities in central Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta, Houston, south Florida, Arizona and a few other locations between 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Eastern time.
The order is part of one of several lawsuits against the Postal Service over cost-cutting measures that slowed mail delivery this year and raised concerns that mail-in ballots would not be delivered on time.
Recent data has shown that on-time mail delivery in some parts of the country has dropped to levels lower than in July, when millions of Americans went days, even weeks, without mail.
The order focuses on postal districts that have struggled to deliver ballots on time in recent days. It also centers on states that will not count ballots received after election day.
“No one should be disenfranchised for something that is out of their control. It’s important that the Postal Service do everything in its power to make sure that that doesn’t happen,” said Shankar Duraiswamy, an attorney for Vote Forward, a voting rights organization that filed the lawsuit prompting Sullivan's order.
A Postal Service spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Perhaps the president is confused by how the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in his greatest speech, referred to the words of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as a “promissory note to which every American is to fall heir.” Perhaps that gave Mr. Trump the idea that this was all about money. Surely, money — the household stake, the money with which to buy a home, secure a good education, start a family — was a vital goal of the movement then, just as the need for Black people to be made whole, after all the years of slavery and Jim Crow, is still a pressing need today.
But I was there with Dr. King that day, over a half-century ago, in the shadow of Lincoln’s statue, and what he spoke of was “the riches of freedom and the security of justice.” He quoted the most fundamental promise of the Declaration, that all of us have “certain unalienable Rights” — among them “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
It seems strange that we must still agitate for these basic rights, or that Mr. Trump thinks he is being magnanimous when he offers them to us again as last-minute campaign promises — so long as we stay in our place. In the past, we have turned the wheel in great bursts of energy and faith, and in between, when we stood exhausted and bloodied, there was some sliding back. That is always how it is in a democracy and a people’s movement, but now is the time to move forward again.
Four years ago, faced with the prospect of a Trump presidency, I wrote that what old men know is how quickly things can change. Well, I am still old but I am also still here, at 93, and for all the bitter lessons we have learned from Mr. Trump’s term in office, I can tell you that the wheel is turning again. That we have never had so many white allies, willing to stand together for freedom, for honor, for a justice that will free us all in the end, even those who are now most fearful and seething with denial.
We have learned exactly how much we had to lose — a lesson that has been inflicted upon Black people again and again in our history — and we will not be bought off by the empty promises of the flimflam man.

Concern In Trumpworld About Pennsylvania
November 3, 2020 at 1:04 pm EST By Taegan Goddard
NBC News reports there’s “early concern” inside the Trump campaign about Election Day turnout activities in Pennsylvania.
Said one person with direct knowledge of the campaign’s operations:
“The team in Pennsylvania was not as prepared as it should be in a state that could decide the presidency.”
BEIJING—Early on Election Day, news outlets are already reporting that all precincts in Beijing China have been called for Democrat Joe Biden. CNN has assured the public that the voting was free and fair and that the will of the people in the People's Republic of China was loud and clear.
"We know that Chinese votes don't count in American elections yet," said CNN anchor Don Lemon, "but that needs to change. Chinese people are people too. Our oppressive system of government shuts out the voices of billions of innocent Chinese people every year. The official position of the Trump regime is this: Chinese lives don't matter."
"The voice of Beijing is loud and clear tonight," said Lemon, his eyes filling with tears. "Will we ignore their cry? It's time to hold true to our principles and award China's 789 electoral votes to Joe Biden."
Several Democrat-led states are suing to allow Chinese votes to be counted because of words like love, equality, and democracy. These cases are expected to make it to the Supreme Court where an ACB vote will be crucial.
Supporters of Chinese votes have also taken up the cause by putting up "No Chinese Humans Are Illegal" signs in their yards.
Well Reverend...
If you are paying attention to anything other than Politicalwire.com - the issues in Pennsylvania (according to actual Trump officials) has nothing to do with turnout. In fact, everything points to the fact that Republicans are doing quite well and that Democratic strongholds are running especially thin today.
The issues for the Trump campaign is that their poll watchers and such are being turned away, or being held off away from the ballots, or other things that are potentially illegal. The fact that the Campaign didn't walk in with attorneys and court orders off the bat is the only real concern that they have...
because let's face it... The governor of Pennsylvania has all but said that his administration will not certify a Trump victory unless they are absolutely forced to do so.
In other words if there are concerns (and actual Pennsylvania campaign officials have scoffed at this NBC report) - it's with the manner in which the election is being run (nothing to do with turnout).
Was looking at the market close (up over 650 on the dow right now) and they were commenting on how Bloomberg had spent over 100 million dollars in Florida and brought in the "big guns" including Obama.

Bodes well for the rest of the day, but its 2020
Closed up 550 on late selling, probably into uncertainty. Oil stocks sold off late too.
Expect a real strong day tomorrow it Trump wins, down if uncertainty or Biden.
Hope we don't have "peaceful" protests as well.
This POTUS is really a no-brainer. Vote Biden who actually has a functioning brain as opposed to Trump who lacks a brain, a heart, and a soul. He only loves himself, all others can go to hell. It would be so nice to have a president who was intelligent & ethical. Trump is such a disgrace. I hope they really let him have it in the history books.

Reports say trump worried about Pa turnout!!!!!! Oh well!!!!
Reports based on anonymous sources say Trump is worried, while the actual campaign says they believe they will win by 200-300K votes.
Meanwhile Biden's actual campaign manager stated on the record that they will still have a path to 270 if they lose Florida and Pennsylvania. Something a campaign manager would never do if they didn't seriously believe that Pennsylvania is in jeopardy. Why even bring up losing a state that they believe they are winning?
Right now Republican voters are up 164K over Democrats in Florida (Republicans had a 90K lead in that category in 2016 and won by 119K). Curious why Biden's campaign would lump Florida (which they surely are struggling right now in) in with Pennsylvania if they didn't have similar concerns.

In fact, the latest is that the Biden team has all but conceded that they will likely lose Ohio, Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania... that is being reported pretty much everywhere now.
I personally have not seen numbers in Pennsylvania as I have in other states (Ohio, Arizona, Florida) - but reports are that turnout is way, way down in Philadelphia especially and lagging in Pittsburgh.

True, that nearly cost the 2000 election when networks made a "premature" call
I'm seeing lots of calls for Republicans to vote in the bluest of blue states to make all votes count, even if it has no real state impact.
You will be proven so wrong, that I will laugh out loud at you.
They are not worried about Pennsylvania anymore.
Trump can't get enough votes from the rural areas to override the Pittsburgh and the suburbs
The bottom line is that the courts will let the President steal the election
The only real doubt about Pennsylvania is because of the widespread reports of vote fraud.

Well Roger... I am simply repeating what I am reading on twitter and everywhere else. The Biden Campaign manager brought up them losing Pennsylvania, not me.
In fact, Rog... I just pointed out that I have NOT seen any numbers out of Pennsylvania. There is only anecdotal claims being made now of where the heavy voting is coming from, along with the fact that the Biden camp is not acting very confident there.
That being said, there was an NBC reporter on Twitter who says that the Trump campaign is not happy with what is "happening on the ground"... but as I stated, that probably doesn't mean turnout.

Democrat Joe Biden has won Arizona and its 11 electoral votes, flipping a critical battleground state that Donald Trump won four years ago and that could help determine which candidate wins the presidency.
The victory by Biden was a huge blow to Trump’s chances for reelection. Arizona has backed a Democratic presidential candidate only once in the last 72 years.
