DOJ issues a public rebuke of media reports?

It all depends on what the definition of "is" "is" or in this case "to date"
“Some media outlets have incorrectly reported that the Department has concluded its investigation of election fraud and announced an affirmative finding of no fraud in the election. That is not what the Associated Press reported nor what the Attorney General stated. The Department will continue to receive and vigorously pursue all specific and credible allegations of fraud as expeditiously as possible.”

Two things I can say about the fact that the DOJ made a determination to come out and issue a response to the media reports regarding what Bill Barr states regarding fraud.

  • That most of the media will ignore it and let their reporting stand
  • That those who do report it, will suggest that the clarification was due to pressure from Trump
Apparently the original statements from Barr were not exactly what has been reported. They are still investigating various reports of fraud, and Barr was apparently very specific in saying that they have not uncovered the sort of fraud that would overturn the election.... "to date".  Apparently the words "to date" were excluded from most media reports to make it appear that they were done looking and there was no chance that they ever would find anything.

Now this doesn't necessarily suggest that Barr believes that they will find anything. But it also suggests that Barr has not closed the door on the possibility that they could find something. It also implies that they are still looking into issues that could be of that scale (or the concept of "to date" would be irrelevant).

I still stand by my assertions that I doubt that any of these investigations will uncover anything between now and the day that the electoral college votes. Short of Barr appointing another Special Counsel to continue to dig into election fraud, the investigation will end the day that Biden is sworn in. That doesn't leave anywhere near enough time to thoroughly investigate this. Not when you consider that we investigated the 2016 election well into 2019.

Even if Barr appoints an independent investigator, the investigation will end the day that Biden is sworn in.

No AG will be confirmed by the Senate without making a commitment to allow special counsels to finish their work, Roger. The President has no authority to fire Special Counsel (as was argued by pretty much everyone the entire time Robert Mueller was running his Special Counsel).

Or are you arguing that the laws regarding Special Counsels have changed since 2019?

Ch, liar, Barr never said there was absolutely no fraud, he said there was not fraud widespread enough to change the outcome of the election.

Here, watch this speech by Trump that lasts about 46 minutes, and agree with every single lie he tells.

Slurp it all up, Ch.

Plagiarism squared.

I read the entire interview on AP.

Barr is a great lawyer, he was very careful about what he says.

Most people don't read the details, the modern social media era, far too many people don't go into detail.

But the MSM didn't distort anything like you keep saying.

Alky why did you take down your “Secretary of Justice” post, embarrassed, you fucking hack

Huh?

You realize, Reverend... that the indented italicized print is actually the statement from the DOJ?

It's called a quote"

So in essence, you are calling the DOJ spokesperson a "liar" - not me.

Do you still stand behind the idea that YOU have a better understanding of what William Barr was saying than the DOJ and that some of the media outlets who dropped the words "to date" from his statement to make it look like it was absolute were not the ones actually being dishonest?

It might seem amazing, but Roger and the Reverend are both confused by the concept of a quote?

So Rog...

The reason why Red State and my quote are identical is because it was a "quote" from the DOJ spokesmen.

It's not plagiarism to quote someone Roger?

There is no law against two outlets quoting the same person?

Are you two really as bafflingly silly as you appear?

It's a quote from the DOJ spokesperson.

Red State is just one of many people to be quoting the spokesperson.

I mean seriously, Roger... are you really this stupid?

Fake news robotics

So far on Wednesday, 2,658 Covid-19 deaths have been reported, according to JHU. The US is currently averaging 1,531 new deaths per day, the university's data shows.

True Pandemic Toll in the U.S. Reaches 345,000
9:50 pm EST
New York Times: “The data show how the coronavirus pandemic, which is peaking in many states, is bringing with it unusual patterns of death, higher than the official totals of deaths that have been directly linked to the virus.

“Deaths nationwide were 19 percent higher than normal from March 15 to Nov. 14. Altogether, the analysis shows that 345,000 more people than normal have died in the United States during that period, a number that may be an undercount since recent death statistics are still being updated.”

Florida Lawyer Urges People to Illegally Vote In Georgia
9:48 pm
Georgia officials tell Fox News they are investigating a Florida attorney for attempting to vote illegally for the Republican candidates in the state’s Jan. 5 Senate runoff, after a video emerged of him stating his intent to move to Georgia temporarily and encouraging others to use his relative’s address to do the same.

Trump Escalates Baseless Attacks on Election
8:53 pm
This is quite the lede from the Washington Post:

“Escalating his attack on democracy from within the White House, President Trump on Wednesday distributed an astonishing 46-minute video rant filled with baseless allegations of voter fraud and outright falsehoods in which he declared the nation’s election system ‘under coordinated assault and siege’ and argued that it was ‘statistically impossible’ for him to have lost to President-elect Joe Biden.

“Standing behind the presidential lectern in the Diplomatic Reception Room and flanked by the flags of his office and of the country whose Constitution he swore an oath to uphold, Trump tried to leverage the power of the presidency to subvert the vote and overturn the election results.”

THIS IS REALLY GOING TO MAKE FOR SOME INTERESTING READING IN THE HISTORY BOOKS.

Trump Is Said to Be ‘Livid’ at Barr
OH WHY? BARR DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING!
“President Trump remained livid at Attorney General William Barr on Wednesday, with one senior administration official indicating there was a chance Barr could be fired — not just for his public comments undercutting Trump’s unfounded claims of election-shifting fraud, but also for steps he did not take on a probe of the FBI’s 2016 investigation into Trump’s campaign,” the Washington Post reports.

“One senior administration official said there was a chance Trump would fire his attorney general and asserted that the president was not merely frustrated over Barr’s fraud-related assertions. The person said that several people are trying to persuade Trump not to do so.”

GO AHEAD! STILL MORE FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS!!!

Pence Backs Away from Trump’s Election ‘Fraud’ Talk
8:20 pm
Sources tell the Daily Beast that Vice President Mike Pence sees President Trump’s legal challenges to the election as doomed and has recoiled at the president’s attacks on Republican governors.

Said a senior administration official: “The vice president doesn’t want to go down with this ship and believes much of the legal work has been unhelpful.”

Redfield said that about 90% of hospitals in the country are in “hot zones and the red zones.”
