Here is another celebration

Dr Fauci celebrates Dr Fauci Day (which used to be Christmas Eve) with a few close strangers who happened to stop by in a crowd larger than six with more than two households and sing for Fauci and give him a birthday banner!

You can see Fauci in the middle of the crowd, social distancing with that six feet inches that is required and making sure that there no more than um, 1,2,3,4... well nevermind. He does have a mask on, however, so I suppose that is something!

Meanwhile, make sure none of you gather in groups larger than six and make sure that only two households are celebrating together today. Merry Christmas and happy Dr Fauci day as well.

So was he lying then about masks or lying now?

The problem with stuff like this is that when you do this, you torch your credibility, not to mention thinking you can manipulate people and treat them like children.

Now, on “Fauci Day,” comes the report that he’s doing it again, that he admitted in a phone interview he’d been deliberately changing his public statements about the virus because he didn’t think people were “ready” to hear his true beliefs.

According to The NY Times, Fauci admitted he had been slowly “increasing the number of Americans he says need to be vaccinated for the U.S. to reach ‘herd immunity’ in public statements.” He said partly that was due to new science and partly because he thinks the country is finally ready to hear it.

Now he’s claiming we might need 90% in order to reach it.

So why should we believe what he has to say? Health officials are supposed to be telling us the truth, however difficult that might be. If they’re not, why are they there? They’re not supposed to be lying and smooth talking us.

There’s no reason to believe the 90% number either, that smacks of just wanting more control and it leaves out those with natural immunity or those immune from having had it. But notice even the definition of herd immunity is in the process of being changed apparently, by WHO.

When Fauci says his former estimate of 70 percent may have been too low and a percentage of 80 or 85 or even 90 percent might be more realistically needed, he is being far more honest than the President who said cases and deaths would be down to near zero within a few days, and it would just magically go away, and was no worse than the flu, and we could safely pack the churches last Easter, and that we had turned the corner on it just before election day.

A nuclear Asia is on the way, China Joe will not stop them

TOKYO (Reuters) - A top Japanese defence official on Friday urged U.S. President-elect Joe Biden to “be strong” in supporting Taiwan in the face of an aggressive China, calling the island’s safety a “red line.”

We are concerned China will expand its aggressive stance into areas other than Hong Kong. I think one of the next targets, or what everyone is worried about, is Taiwan,” State Minister of Defense Yasuhide Nakayama told Reuters.

In an interview, Nakayama, Japan’s deputy defence minister, urged Biden to take a similar line on Taiwan as outgoing President Donald Trump, who has significantly boosted military sales to the Chinese-claimed island and increased engagement.

Japan’s engagement with Taiwan has also flourished in recent years on a largely non-governmental basis. Tokyo maintains a “one China” policy, delicately balancing its relationships with neighbouring giant China and its longtime military ally in Washington.

Japan shares strategic interests with Taiwan, which sits in sea lanes through which much of Japan’s energy supplies and trade flow.

“So far, I haven’t yet seen a clear policy or an announcement on Taiwan from Joe Biden. I would like to hear it quickly, then we can also prepare our response on Taiwan in accordance,” Nakayama said.

During the presidential campaign, Biden called for strengthening ties with Taiwan and other “like-minded democracies.”

It's never too late to become a Democrat
There was a time when being a Democrat or a Republican was defined by your views about healthcare, abortion, gun control, taxes, education, foreign policy, etc.

Those days are over.

It was something to hear Sen. Mitt Romney, Republican of Utah and the party’s standard-bearer in 2012, tell CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday, “I represent a very small slice of the Republican Party today.” An obvious, but candid, acknowledgement.

As he explained, the party he knew as a young man — and even just eight years ago — is gone. “We were a party concerned about balancing the budget. We believed in trade with other nations. We were happy to play a leadership role on the world stage, because we felt that made us safer and more prosperous. And we believed that character was essential in the leaders that we chose. We have strayed from that. I don't see us returning to that for a long time.”

You mean like arguing that it would be this summer before we had a vaccine and that it was "outrageous" to claim that it would be by the end of the year?

To be clear, Fauci himself told people that masks don't work, then told them that they did, but then was seen not wearing his own mask around other people. Which he actually believes is a mystery.

A few weeks ago he said 70-80 vaccinations would be enough to acquire herd immunity and now he says 90% and admits that 70-80 was not his honest assessment. Admitted that he basically lied.

(btw... plenty of other epidemiologists and medical experts think that 70-80 will be more than enough given as much as 30% of the public is already naturally immune).

So how much would it cost? The last round of $1,200 payments to adults and $400 to children cost approximately $218 billion. Raising the payments to adults to $2,000 and keeping all other things equal would increase the cost to around $349 billion. The lower amount in the current bill will cost around $166 billion, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. So that leaves a funding hole of around $183 billion.

To offset this $183 billion increase, we have identified the following potential cuts from the omnibus bill. In multiple sources of funding, as noted below, lawmakers allotted money well over what Trump had requested. These funds are labeled as “excess funding.”

$8 billion for the Overseas Contingency Operations/Global War on Terrorism
$1.7 billion for USAID operations abroad
$26.5 billion for “Bilateral Economic Assistance” abroad
$3.3 billion for “Global Health Programs”
$4.4 billion for “International Disaster Assistance”
$3.4 billion for “Refugee Assistance”
$2.4 billion for “democracy programs”
$1.7 billion for Jordan
$1.9 billion for “international food aid”
$35 billion in new clean energy initiatives to fight climate change
$9 billion for “international security assistance”
$5.9 billion for the “President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)”
$950 million for “basic education” programs in foreign countries
$740.3 million for “educational and cultural exchange” programs in foreign countries
$1.5 billion for “Contributions to International Organizations”
$224 million tax breaks for motor sports venues
$16 billion tax credit for businesses that hire individuals facing “significant barriers to employment”
$1 billion tax credit for “special expensing rules for entertainment productions”
$13 billion tax breaks for clean energy initiatives
$9 billion in tax credits for beer, wine, and distilled spirits producers
$2 billion “to enable better scientific information about the Earth and its changing climate”
$16.2 billion in excess funding for transportation, housing, and urban development
$19.2 billion in excess funding for the Department of Labor, Department of Education, and Health and Human Services
$6.9 billion in excess funding for energy and water development
$12.3 billion in excess funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency

TOTAL CUTS: $203,814,000,000

As many Americans are winding down for the holidays, an explosion of coronavirus cases and deaths across the nation is hitting with perilous force, particularly in the South, which avoided much of the fall surge.

Six Southern states have seen sustained case increases in the last week: Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Texas.

Tennessee reported the country’s most cases per 100,000 people on average over the last seven days, and Alabama set a single-day death record for the state on Wednesday, with 135, according to a New York Times database. In Florida, a virus surge in the past week means cases could soon surpass the state’s summer peak.

These increases are not just indicative of more testing. Florida’s more than 20 percent rise in cases over the last two weeks matches the growth in hospitalizations, although far fewer residents are hospitalized now than in the summer. In Texas, which has also had an upswing of more than 20 percent over the same time period, Dallas County has added more than 15,000 cases in the last week, a record.

“A joint session of Congress on Jan. 6 will take the last step in formalizing President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, and Pence, in his role as president of the Senate, will preside over the session after four years of ceaseless efforts to demonstrate his loyalty to Trump.

“Some die-hard Trump supporters are declaring that Pence will be a traitor if he does not somehow derail the proceedings. There is no evident way for him to do that even if he wanted to, but such demands ratchet up the pressure on Pence, who is unlikely to escape their wrath — or Trump’s.

Story at a glance

“Our state is ground zero for a surge in COVID-19 and we need Tennesseans to [do] their part,” Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) said.Health officials on Sunday warned the state could “break” its hospital systems if residents didn’t slow the spread by staying home and wearing masks.“We want to preserve access to hospitals. If we have another surge over Christmas, it will break our hospitals,” Tennessee Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said earlier this week.

Tennessee has emerged as an epicenter of the latest COVID-19 surge in the U.S., as the state has recorded the highest rate of new infections over the past week, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data.

The state averaged nearly 128 new infections per 100,000 people over the last week, the highest of any other state. California has recorded the second-highest rate, with 111.2 daily infections per 100,000 people. Tennessee has reported more than 546,000 cases and 6,430 deaths, according to the state health department.

Our country is in a historic fight against the Coronavirus. Add Changing America to your Facebook or Twitter feed to stay on top of the news.

“This week is ordinarily a time when families across the state are gathering to celebrate. Unfortunately, these are not ordinary times,” Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) said Wednesday.

“Our state is ground zero for a surge in COVID-19 and we need Tennesseans to [do] their part,” he said, urging residents to wear face masks, social distance and gather only with people in their immediate household.

Earlier this week, Lee issued executive orders extending the state of emergency in Tennessee through February and allowing county mayors to enforce mask mandates, but has refused to issue a statewide mandate. He also issued an order limiting indoor public gathering to just 10 people.

Lee announced on Sunday that Tennessee first lady Maria Lee tested positive for COVID-19 after exhibiting mild symptoms, Gov. Lee said he tested negative and would quarantine as a precaution.

Bruce Bartman, 70, was charged with two counts of perjury and one count of unlawful voting after allegedly registering both deceased women online to vote in the Nov. 3 election using either their driver’s license or social security number, prosecutors said Monday.

“He registered both of his deceased relatives as Republicans and he has admitted to the detectives who questioned him that he did this to further the campaign of Donald Trump,” Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said at a press conference.

Add to list
PRESIDENT TRUMP’S border wall has reached an inflection point.
For much of his administration, the construction of hundreds of miles of steel-and-concrete barriers has symbolized futility and waste — a massive, publicly funded undertaking whose payoff in deterring illegal border-crossing was unproven at best, ineffective at worst. Now, as crews dynamite, bulldoze and raze their way through pristine canyons, riverbeds, mountains, deserts and grasslands to gain access to construction sites, Mr. Trump’s wall has become a symbol of wanton environmental destruction.
President-elect Joe Biden has pledged to halt the wall’s construction immediately upon taking office. That hasn’t stopped or slowed what amounts to a full-court press to complete as much of the wall as possible before Mr. Trump leaves office Jan. 20. However, for every new mile of wall construction, far more damage and degradation is done to the landscape by a dozen or so contractors carving their way through wilderness and wildlife areas with access roads, retaining walls and other eyesores.

The folly of the project is glaring. Even as more miles of wall are completed, the number of unauthorized migrants apprehended after crossing the border has spiked in recent months to the highest level in years. Driven by the ravages of pandemic, hurricanes, economic ruin and violence in Central America and Mexico, migrants keep coming, wall or no wall.
What’s more, precious little strategic thought has informed decisions about where to add to, enhance or build new barriers. Although illegal crossing is rife in South Texas, particularly around the town of McAllen, little construction has taken place there because local ranchers and other landowners have fought wall construction affecting their property. Far more building is taking place in Arizona and New Mexico, where the federal government controls much more land along the frontier with Mexico. In other words, construction is underway not where it might be needed but where resistance has been slight.

The U.S. is more politically polarized than ever. The Post’s Kate Woodsome asks experts what drives political sectarianism — and what we can do about it. (The Washington Post)

Another refutation of Lil Schitty's vote dump that proved voter fraud to the mentally disabled truthers !!!!

Slow vote-counting is a sign of fraud
“At the stroke of midnight on Election Day, President Donald J. Trump appeared well on his way to winning a second term,” Navarro’s report says. “. . . Shortly after midnight, however, as a flood of mail-in and absentee ballots began entering the count, the Trump red tide of victory began turning Joe Biden blue.” Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) made a similar argument last month, writing on Twitter: “Trump margin of ‘defeat’ in 4 states occurred in 4 data dumps between 1:34-6:31 AM. Statistical anomaly? Fraud?”
AD

But a long count is exactly what you’d expect with the large number of mail-in ballots this year amid the coronavirus pandemic. Absentee ballot processing is inherently slow, and in many states, such as Pennsylvania, where the number of absentee ballots in past elections was very small, offices had to deal with more than 10 times as many as they were used to.
In Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, thanks to laws passed by GOP-controlled legislatures, officials couldn’t start counting absentee ballot envelopes until Election Day or the day before. That process is slow, even with automated help. Mailing envelopes have another one inside containing the ballot. The unopened envelopes have to be counted. The outer envelope can then be opened, but the ballot can be removed from the privacy envelope only after it’s separated from the outer envelope. The number of empty mailing envelopes, privacy envelopes and ballots must match.
Then the ballots need to be processed. Scanners never run continuously: Paper fibers shed from the ballots form lint that must be periodically blown out. Misfeeds and paper jams add interruptions. The net result? Ballot scanning is typically 25 percent as fast as the advertised speed of the machine. Finally, once all the absentee ballots are counted, provisional ballots have to be adjudicated; if someone casts a provisional ballot at the polls and also mails an absentee ballot, the provisional ballot must not be counted.
