Joe Biden starts out as President-elect with patently divisive speech

Four years ago the left spent all their time and effort trying to tear down the Trump administration with ridiculous claims of Russian collusion... and that won't be forgotten!

Upwards of 70% of Republicans, nearly half of Independents, and even 30% of Democrats believe that the results in many battleground states were not based on legitimate counts and that certain election officials and ballot counters actually "cheated" to assist Biden in winning the 2020 election.

As much as CNN, NYT,  "fact checkers", and Joe Biden himself would like to assure those Americans differently, these feelings are entrenched and will likely not go away. Ever. The fact that lawsuits were thrown out over lack of standing isn't proof and having most of the media accept ridiculous excuses and explanations is not the manner to move past things. Moreover, you don't win friends and influence people by insulting them or telling them that they are wrong.

Whatever it might be you want to say about the 2016 election, you cannot say that it was not vetted. We had five different investigations over a nearly three year period to prove what we all "should" have known upfront. That President Trump did not "collude" with the Russians to steal any elections and that there was virtually no proof that the Russians changed a single vote in the election. More to the point, all of this was done by Congress, the DOJ, and ultimately a Special Counsel. Whatever effort has gone into this election has fallen almost entirely on the President and his legal teams.

We live in partisan times and this was a partisan election separated by 42,843 votes in three states. No President can simply decide that he or she represents unity in and of themselves. Like it or not, Joe Biden will be seen by many as 100% responsible for Antifa riots, 100% responsible for destruction of cities, and 100% responsible for the rancor of American politics. This will not go away, because Joe Biden refuses to point the finger at those responsible, and because he continues to insist that the real culprits are Trump supporters and conservatives.

He will also be seen as part of the "cover up" to possible election fraud by resisting investigations and demanding there is no reason to vet this election as we did in 2016. Preaching to the choir is not a unifying action, and only really unifies opposing sides against each other.

Who knows... maybe he actually believes as much. Riots were done by Trump supporters and there was no election abnormalities.  If so, then he is even dumber than anyone could have actually assumed and quite frankly dangerously naïve and stupid. If he doesn't actually believe his own words, then he is a blatant political liar who hasn't the courage to call out the truth. Either way, unity is not in the cards. The more he pretends to expect it, the worse it will be.

In his speech, Biden declared that the election was “free and fair” — a dubious claim, which I have disputed elsewhere. He expects Americans to overlook a year of political violence, almost entirely by the left; unprecedented censorship by the mainstream media and Big Tech to cover up stories damaging to Biden’s political prospects; a debate commission stacked against Trump; and — most of all — a shift to vote-by-mail that was often pushed by Democrats over Republican objections.

Biden defended the election officials who, he said, had withstood “political pressure, verbal abuse, and threats of physical violence.”

Notably, Biden has yet to denounce the violence carried out against Trump supporters since the election, or the threats against the Trump campaign’s lawyers. During the election, he falsely claimed that left-wing rioters in Washington, DC, and Portland were “peaceful protesters.” It took him three days before he condemned riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Coughing and spluttering, Biden went on an extended rant against Trump’s effort to challenge the election results in court. There was no need to do that. The fact that the Electoral College voted the way it had was evidence enough that Trump’s legal efforts had failed.

If Biden’s goal had been to convince Trump supporters, he would have done better to reach out to them in friendship — not to “sell past the close.” If he is so certain that his victory is legitimate, why argue after the fact?

Biden continued in that vein for several minutes, reminding Americans that Trump had fired cybersecurity chief Chris Krebs after he had claimed publicly that the 2020 elections were the most secure in history. But Krebs looks decidedly less credible on a day when Google and other networks crashed, and after a weekend when the U.S. discovered a massive security breach at the Treasury and Commerce departments. The breach began earlier this year and lasted for months. Most secure ever?

At the end of his petulant address, Biden called on Americans to “unite and heal.” But evidently he expects unity and healing to flow in one direction.

Biden is, and always has been, one of the most divisive politicians in America. He is personally to blame for the fact that Supreme Court confirmations are fights to the death, for example.

Biden doesn’t have it in him to unite the nation, nor can he restrain the radicals in his party who want vengeance. He didn’t build bridges tonight; he burned them.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell acknowledged Tuesday that President-elect Joe Biden won the presidential election, breaking with President Trump and other Republicans who still haven't conceded the election.

During a speech on Tuesday morning, the Kentucky Republican said the “Electoral College has spoken,” according to reporters on Capitol Hill. "Our country has officially a president-elect and a vice president-elect,” he said.

McConnell is the most prominent Republican leader to acknowledge Biden’s win. His remarks come after the 538 members of the Electoral College cast their ballots on Monday, confirming Biden’s victory.

Trump has yet to concede the election. And as recently as Tuesday morning he was tweeting about his latest in a series of discredited allegations about ballot fraud, this time concerning voting machines in Michigan.

Biden could not have been much more ungracious, but that’s okay. This is not how it’s done and we decline in any event to “unite” behind the regime of left-wing hacks and retreads for whom he will serve as front man. And the lecture comes particularly poorly from one of the protagonists in the Russia hoax that successfully sought to undermine the Trump administration from well before day one. We won’t forget that either.

Veracity of statements by Donald Trump

False or misleading statements made by Donald Trump

Donald Trump has made many false or misleading statements, including thousands during his presidency. Commentators and fact-checkers have described this as "unprecedented" in American politics, and the consistency of these falsehoods has become a distinctive part of both his business and political identity. Trump is known to have made controversial statements and subsequently denied having done so, and by June 2019, many news organizations had started describing some of his falsehoods as lies. The Washington Post said his frequent repetition of false claims amounts to a campaign based on disinformation. According to writer and journalist Nancy LeTourneau, the debasing of veracity is a tactic. By September 3, 2020, The Washington Post's Fact Checker database had counted 22,510 false or misleading statements.

But I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together, this vast, diverse, creative, unruly, energized campaign. You represent the best of America and being your candidate has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

Well that seems sort of counterintuitive as a means to defend "fact checkers" who do not come to their "opinions" without prejudice... and seem to guide your personal view points.

I check my own work. Do my own research and do not rely on media members (aka factcheckers) for anything.

Hey... if I listened to the "experts" about 2020 elections my sidebar spreadsheet would have shown Biden up 8.5 points like 538, and I would have been convinced that Democrats were going to pick up 5-6 Senate seats and 10-12 House seats.

As it was, my own personal research and decision making shows that "I" was much closer to "Reality" than any of these election experts.

More to the point Roger... it's always been that way. My own personal research has ALWAYS been more realistic and accurate than that of the so called "experts"... whom you rely on 100% for your opinions.

it was all a lie...

If there is one thing that the Hunter Biden laptop episode has proved, it is that former directors of the CIA aren’t as adept at evaluating evidence as advertised.

Five former directors or acting directors of the CIA signed a letter asserting that the laptop, first reported by this newspaper in the weeks before the election, “has all the hallmarks of Russian information operation.”

More than 50 former senior intel officials, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, signed the letter, which was used by the Biden campaign and the media to discredit the damning e-mails about Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

The signatories should have thought better of their missive when they felt compelled to include the line, “We want to emphasize that we do not know if the e-mails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney, are genuine or not, and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement.”

That also should have tipped off reporters to the fact that the letter was rank speculation masquerading as informed analysis. But true to form, they happily ran with it instead.

In a complete reversal from the Cold War era, journalists in the Trump years have not only reflexively believed representations from national-security professionals about nefarious Russian plots, they have actively sought them out and promoted them.

In this case, it was former US intelligence officials who were spreading disinformation in an attempt to mislead the American public about a consequential matter touching on the front runner in an American presidential campaign. The call came from inside the house.

Anyone believing the officials, who used their past titles and long experience to lend credibility to their letter, would have been shocked to learn last week that Hunter Biden is under federal investigation for tax crimes.

According to news reports, the laptop hasn’t advanced the investigation, but the feds have looked at it, and there’s no indication that it’s foreign disinfo.

The provenance of the laptop wasn’t, to paraphrase Winston Churchill’s famous line about Soviet foreign policy, a puzzle inside a riddle wrapped in an enigma, but as simple as Hunter Biden — not the most careful person — accidentally leaving it at a Wilmington, Del., repair shop.

The idea that the Russians were behind the laptop was always far-fetched. Certainly, no one would ever accuse Rudy Giuliani, who brought the device to light, of being a credible source of information. But if the Russians were behind it, they would have had to fabricate the laptop, drop it off at the repair shop, hoping that the owner would eventually look at it and be alarmed enough to tell someone about its contents — or compromise the repair shop owner and make him a tool in their operation.

This might have been plausible, if we, indeed, have been living in a Russian spy novel for the last five years. We haven’t.

Joe Biden said...

Good evening, my fellow Americans. Over the past few weeks, officials in each state, commonwealth, and district, without regard to party or political preference have certified their winning candidate. Today, the members of the Electoral College representing the certified winner, cast their votes for President and Vice President of the United States in an act just as old as our nation itself. And once again in America, the rule of law, our Constitution and the will of the people prevailed. Our democracy pushed, tested, threatened, proved to be resilient, true and strong. The Electoral College votes which occurred today effect the fact that even in the face of a public health crisis unlike anything we’ve experienced in our lifetime, the people voted. They voted in record numbers. More Americans voted this year than have ever voted in the history of the United States of America. Over 155 million Americans were determined to have their voices heard and their votes counted. In the start of this pandemic, this crisis, many were wondering how many Americans would actually vote at all. But those fears proved to be unfounded. We saw something very few predicted, even thought possible, the biggest voter turnout in the history of the United States of America, a number so big that this election now ranks as the clearest demonstration of the true will of the American people, one of the most amazing demonstrations of civic duty we’ve ever seen in our country.

Joe Biden : (04:09)
It should be celebrated, not attacked. More than 81 million of those votes were casts for me and Vice President-elect Harris. That too is a record. More than any ticket has received in the history of America. It represents a winning margin of more than seven million votes over the number of votes cast for my opponent. Together, the Vice President-elect Harris and I earned 306 electoral votes, well exceeding the 270 electoral votes needed to secure victory. 306 electoral votes is the same number of electoral votes that Donald Trump and Vice President Pence received when they won in 2016, excuse me. At the time, President Trump calls the Electoral College tally a landslide. By his own standards. These numbers represented a clear victory then, and I respectfully suggest they do so now. If anyone didn’t know before, they know now. What beats deep in the hearts of the American people is this, democracy, the right to be heard, to have your vote counted, to choose leaders of this nation, to govern ourselves.

Joe Biden : (05:27)
In America, politicians don’t take power, people grant power to them. The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago. And we now know nothing, not even a pandemic or an abuse of power can extinguish that flame. And as the people kept it a flame, so too did courageous state and local officials, and election workers. American democracy works because America makes it work at a local level. One of the extraordinary things we saw this year was that every day Americans, our friends and our neighbors, often volunteers, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, demonstrating absolute courage, they showed a deep and unwavering faith in and a commitment to the law. They did their duty in the face of the pandemic. And then they could not and would not give credence to what they knew was not true. They knew this election was overseen, was overseen by them. It was honest, it was free and it was fair.

Joe Biden said...

They saw it with their own eyes and they wouldn’t be bullied into saying anything different. It was truly remarkable because so many of these patriotic Americans are subject to so much, enormous political pressure, verbal abuse, and even threats of physical violence. While we all wish that our fellow Americans in these positions will always show such courage and commitment to free and fair elections, it is my sincere hope we never again see anyone subjected to the kind of threats and abuse we saw in this election. It’s simply unconscionable. We owe these public servants a debt of gratitude. They didn’t seek the spotlight, and our democracy survived because of them, which is proof once more that it’s everyday America and infused with honor, character and decency that is the heart of this nation.

You know, in this election, their integrity was matched by their strength, independence, and the integrity of our judicial system. In America, when questions are raised about the legitimacy of any election, those questions are resolved through the legal processes. And that’s precisely what happened here. The Trump campaign brought dozens and dozens and dozens of legal challenges to test the result. They were heard again and again, and each of the time they were heard, they were found to be without merit. Time and again, President Trump’s lawyers presented arguments to state officials, state legislatures, state and federal courts, and ultimately to the United States Supreme Court twice. They were heard by more than 80 judges across this country. And in every case, no cause or evidence was found to reverse or question or dispute the results.

Joe Biden : (08:37)
A few states went for recounts. All the counts were confirmed. The results in Georgia were counted three times. It didn’t change the outcome. The recount conducted Wisconsin actually saw our margin grow. The margin we had in Michigan was 14 times the margin President Trump won that state by four years ago. Our margin in Pennsylvania was nearly twice the size of the Trump margin four years ago. And yet none of this has stopped baseless claims about the legitimacy of the results.

Joe Biden said...

Even more stunning, 17 Republican Attorneys General, and 126 Republican members of the Congress, actually, they actually signed onto a lawsuit filed by the state of Texas. That lawsuit asked the United States Supreme Court to reject the certified vote counts in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. This legal maneuver was an effort by elected officials and one group of states to try to get the Supreme Court to wipe out the votes of more than 20 million Americans in other states. And to hand the presidency to a candidate who lost the Electoral College, lost the popular vote, and lost each and every one of the states whose votes they were trying to reverse.

It’s a position so extreme, we’ve never seen it before. And position that refused to respect the will of the people, refused to respect the rule of law, and refused to honor our Constitution. Thankfully, a unanimous Supreme Court immediately and completely rejected this effort. The Court sent a clear signal to President Trump that they would be no part of an unprecedented assault on our democracy. Every single avenue was made available to President Trump to contest the results. He took full advantage of each and every one of those avenues. President Trump was denied no course of action he wanted to take. He took his case to Republican governors and Republican Secretary of State as he criticized many of them, to Republican state legislature, to Republican appointed judges at every level. And then the case decided after the Supreme Court’s latest rejection, a judge appointed by President Trump wrote, “This court has allowed the plaintiff the chance to make his case and he has lost on the merits.” Lost on the merits.

Even President Trump’s own cybersecurity chief, overseeing our elections, said it was the most secure election in American history, and summarily is let go. Let me say it again. His own cybersecurity chief overseeing this election said it was the most secure in American history.

You know, respecting the will of the people is at the heart of our democracy, even we find those results hard to accept. But that’s the obligation of those who’ve taken on a sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. Four years ago, when I was a sitting Vice President of the United States, it was my responsibility to announce the tally of the Electoral College votes of the joint session of Congress, had voted to elect Donald Trump. I did my job. And I’m pleased but not surprised by the number of my former Republican colleagues in the Senate who have acknowledged already the results of the Electoral College. I thank them. And I’m convinced we can work together for the good of the nation on many subjects. That’s the duty owed to the people, to our Constitution, to our history.

You know, in this battle for the soul of America, democracy prevailed. We the people voted, faith in our institutions held, the integrity of our elections remains intact. And now it’s time to turn the page as we’ve done throughout our history, to unite, to heal. As I said in this campaign, I will be president for all Americans. I’ll work just as hard for those of who you didn’t vote for me as I will for those who did. There’s urgent work in front of us. Getting this pandemic under control and getting the nation vaccinated against this virus, delivering immediate economic help so badly needed by so many Americans who are hurting today, and then building our economy back better than it ever was.

In doing so, we need to work together to give each other a chance to lower the temperature. And most of all, we need to stand in solidarity as fellow Americans, to see each other, our pain, our struggles, our hopes, and our dreams. We’re a great nation. We’re good people. We may come from different places, hold different beliefs, but we share in common a love for this country, a belief in its limitless possibilities. For we, the United States of America, has always set the example for the world for a peaceful transition of power. We’ll do so again. I know the task before us won’t be easy. It’s tempered by the pain so many of us are feeling.

Today, our nation passed a grim milestone, 300,000 deaths to this COVID virus. My heart goes out to each of you in this dark winter of the pandemic, about to spend the holidays and the new year with a black hole in your hearts, without the ones you loved at your side. My heart goes out to all of you who have fallen on hard times through no fault of your own, unable to sleep at night, staring at the ceiling, weighed down by the worry of what tomorrow will bring for you and equally important for your family.

But we faced difficult times before in our history. I know we’ll get through this one, but together. That’s how we get through it together. So as we start the hard work to be done, may this moment give us a strength to rebuild this house of ours upon a rock that can never be washed away. As in the Prayer of St. Francis, for where there is discord, union, where there is doubt, faith where there is darkness, light. This is who we are as a nation. This is the America we love and that is the America we’re going to be. So thank you all and may God bless you. And may God protect our troops and all of those who stand watch over our democracy. Thank you.

LMAO -

The Biden days, weeks, or months (no one seriously thinks this guy is going to last years in office) are going to see the media redefining “wearisome.”

I didn’t spend much time pondering just how insufferable the media might become during a Biden presidency for two reasons: I was holding out hope that the Democrats wouldn’t be able to steal the election and I didn’t think that the faux journoscum could shred their First Amendment responsibilities any further.

There is a clear reason why they are going to be worse now.

All of the people in the leftmedia were identifying as swooning teenage schoolgirls when The Lightbringer was in office. The weren’t really reporting, they were keeping feelings journals, dotting every “i” with a heart and fighting to keep tears of joy from ruining the pages. They were on “Isn’t he dreamy?” autopilot.

The huge difference now is that none of them really like Biden that much, if at all. To fulfill their lust for getting rid of ORANGE MAN BAD, the MSM was forced to install in the Oval Office an empty-head moron who can’t navigate three sentences without losing his ability to speak his native language. The poor dears who have to keep this charade afloat have to go way over the top to do so. They need to over-correct by making things up just so they can pretend that there is some “there” there with Drooling Joe.

That brings me to this bit of tedium in The Washington Post from last week that claimed Biden could “redefine what it means to be ‘a Catholic in good standing.’”

Biden had a stutter 70 years ago. So therefore we should ignore his loss of cognitive ability today.

WILMINGTON, Del. (Reuters) - President-elect Joe Biden has chosen Pete Buttigieg, his former rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, to lead the U.S. Transportation Department, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Buttigieg, 38, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who has never held federal office, would be the first LGBTQ person nominated to Biden's administration and, if confirmed, the first LGBTQ Cabinet secretary to be approved by the U.S. Senate.

A spokesman for Biden's transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A representative for Buttigieg also did not respond to a request for comment.

Buttigieg had been rumored to land in several different spots in Biden’s administration. As Transportation secretary, he would put to use his background in urban affairs by overseeing a sprawling federal agency that oversees U.S. highways, air travel and transit systems.

I have no doubt that if Biden really is mentally disabled, the Democratic party would have asked him to pull out of the race.

Buttigieg is a very intelligent person who as Transportation secretary, he would put to use his background in urban affairs by overseeing a sprawling federal agency that oversees U.S. highways, air travel and transit systems.

Trump never followed though on the infrastructure issues. Instead he built the wall to keep beaners from coming here to sell drugs and commit crimes!

McConnell Urges No Objection to Electoral Vote
2:14 pm
On a private conference call, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) urged his Republican colleagues not to join House members on January 6 to object to state electoral results, CNN reports.

George Conway: “The importance of this is that, in order for an objection to an electoral vote certificate to be considered, it must be made by at least one member of each chamber… If an objection is made by at least one member from each house, then both houses must repair to their respective chambers for debate and a vote, with the objection being sustained only by a vote of a majority of both houses.

“So basically McConnell is telling his caucus not to let the crazies in the House to make a circus of the electoral vote counting on January 6.”
