Non-Trump legal team appears to be barking up the wrong trees

Fraud (real or not) is likely not a computer virus or even something that is provable at this point

The Trump (or at least the unofficial Trump) legal team is celebrating the news that they garnered a rare legal win by having a Judge allow for an forensic audit of the Dominion voting machines. If you want my humble opinion, they are not going to find anything auditing the Dominion voting machines.

Most of the aberrations regarding odd statistical reported result occurred not in some consistent fashion across the board fashion that could be explained by systemic fraud or tampering, but rather happened in fairly easy to identify subsets here and there. By here and there, I mean large Democratic counties where there was either very strange margins, very strange vote output, or in most cases a little bit (or a lot) of both.

If, in fact, the Dominion voting machines were randomly switching Trump votes to Biden votes, then you would not have expected to see fairly reasonable margins and numbers with same day voters, but large and unusual variations of mail in votes. Unless the poll workers has some secret ability to turn on and off the computer glitch, the issues we saw are not consistent with voting machines flipping votes.

If you were to look at Pennsylvania for instance; the same day voting certainly was not a problem for Trump as we won that count by over 1.3 million votes. It was the very strange 3.3-1 Biden advantage in mail in voting that appeared to be statistically improbable (if not statistically impossible given the partisan make-up of the returned mail in ballots) that allowed Biden to make up that 1.3 million deficit with only 2.6 million total mail in votes. If this was an issue with the Dominion voting machines, the machines would have had to have known which votes were which to flip enough votes to change the results. More to the point, if I were going to create this virus, I wouldn't want it to only work with some votes in some places where it could be turned on and turned off, I would want it to work consistently everywhere, in a manner that would be hard to detect or even identify as a problem.

In other words, nefarious virus infected vote flipping ballot counting machines do not provide a reasonable explanation for the statistical anomalies we saw. Nor does most of the allegations that the Trump legal team is putting forward. To be fair, there really isn't a good provable explanation that any legal team could come up with in the amount of time allowed to prove something. Even if they could prove that a virus could be downloaded and activated, that doesn't prove that it happened.

The trouble for the Trump legal team is that when they bark down the wrong trees,  and chase things that are unlikely true, it actually harms their overall cause. If a forensic audit of the machines comes back clean (and there is little real reason to expect that it won't) - then that will be all you will hear about from the media, and they will use it to pound over the heads of anyone out there questioning other legitimate issues.

This is one of those times where there are a lot of skeptics who (like me) believe something was out of whack with the 2020 election. Most of us would sort of like Powell and Giuliani to get off our side on this one. There are enough smart people with intelligent analysis and legitimate questions regarding some of these results, that we don't need the people who get all the media attention (Powell and Giuliani) working at chasing down conspiracy theories.

Heck, the next thing you know, they will start to claim that Joe Biden worked with some foreign power to otherwise hack and then steal the election in a grand conspiracy of collusion, thus making Biden a puppet to another country. Well okay, not even Powell or Giuliani are quite that crazy.

Armed Protesters Descend on Michigan Elections Official
10:41 am EST
Armed protesters demanding that President Trump’s election loss is overturned gathered outside Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s (D) home this weekend to shout obscenities at her and her 4-year-old son, the Detroit Free Press reports.

We could be headed for armed anarchy in this country, which is exactly what some seem to want.

F*** you Mr. President!

Washington — Georgia's Republican leaders on Sunday rejected a call from President Trump to convene a special legislative session to overturn the results of the presidential election in the state as the president continues to falsely claim he defeated President-elect Joe Biden.

In a joint statement, Governor Brian Kemp and Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan said bringing together a special session of the Georgia General Assembly "in order to select a separate slate of presidential electors is not an option that is allowed under state or federal law."

so another American institution is destroyed by the left. ho hum.

Fate of Relief Bill Previews Congress In the Biden Era
10:25 am EST

First Read:
“Either it passes, and serves as a template for how other legislation can clear Congress — i.e., a bipartisan working group (Joe Manchin, Angus King, Mark Warner, Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, Bill Cassidy) reaches a deal, and Nancy Pelosi’s House Democrats and Joe Biden get behind it.

“Or it ultimately goes nowhere, and serves as a stark warning that little is happening legislatively in divided Washington — unless Democrats can win control of the Senate in next month’s Georgia runoffs.”

Trump May Not Return from Florida
10:12 am
President Trump, who hasn’t left the White House extensively other than his rally over the weekend, is currently planning to go to West Palm Beach the week before Christmas, the New York Times reports.

Some of his associates believe he may spend the remaining five weeks of the first term in Florida, while others say that was discussed but isn’t likely.

Biden Rejects Ideologues from Both Wings of His Party
10:07 am
“Elizabeth Warren is not going to be treasury secretary. Bernie Sanders seems unlikely to lead the Labor Department. And progressives have so far failed to persuade President-elect Joe Biden to put their favored candidates in top jobs for his administration,” NBC News reports.

“But they appear to have succeeded in making enough noise to keep out their biggest foes, at least for now.”

Trump Cementing His Death Penalty Legacy
10:05 am
Associated Press: “As Donald Trump’s presidency winds down, his administration is ratcheting up the pace of federal executions despite a surge of coronavirus cases in prisons, announcing plans for five starting Thursday and concluding just days before the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

“If the five go off as planned, it will make 13 executions since July when the Republican administration resumed putting inmates to death after a 17-year hiatus and will cement Trump’s legacy as the most prolific execution president in over 130 years. He’ll leave office having executed about a quarter of all federal death-row prisoners, despite waning support for capital punishment among both Democrats and Republicans.”

Georgia Senate Races Are Both Close
FiveThirtyEight:
“We don’t have a ton of polls of these runoffs yet, but FiveThirtyEight is rolling out its polling averages for both of the contests today to help everyone keep tabs on where things stand…

“And based on the initial wave of polls conducted since the Nov. 3 general election, both runoff races look very close. In the regularly scheduled Senate race, Republican Sen. David Perdue is roughly tied with Democrat Jon Ossoff, while in the special election, Democrat Raphael Warnock holds a narrow lead over Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler.”

Fraud Claims Lay Groundwork for New Voting Restrictions
9:29 am
“Even before the final votes in the 2020 election were tallied, President Donald Trump sent his attorneys to court alleging voter fraud,” NBC News reports.

“When it became clear that he had lost to President-elect Joe Biden, his claims — and his campaign’s court filings — accelerated. Trump attacked cities with large shares of Black voters, who had come out in force for Biden, while his lawyers baselessly alleged a global conspiracy and filed dozens of suits in six states.

“The legal strategy failed in court after court — not a single incident of voter fraud has been proven in the lawsuits — but experts warn the narrative is laying the groundwork for disenfranchisement of voters across the country."

Only One Word Captures What Trump Is Trying to Do
9:26 am
Zeynep Tufekci: “In political science, the term coup refers to the illegitimate overthrow of a sitting government—usually through violence or the threat of violence. The technical term for attempting to stay in power illegitimately—such as after losing an election—is self-coup or autocoup—sometimes autogolpe.

“Much debate has ensued about what exactly to call whatever Trump is attempting right now, and about how worried we should be. It’s true, the whole thing seems ludicrous—the incoherent lawsuits, the late-night champagne given to official election canvassers in Trump hotels, the tweets riddled with grammatical errors and weird capitalization. Trump has been broadly acknowledged as ‘norm shattering’ and some have argued that this is just more of his usual bluster, while others have pointed out terminological issues with calling his endeavors a coup. Coup may not quite capture what we’re witnessing in the United States right now, but there’s also a danger here: Punditry can tend to focus too much on decorum and terminology, like the overachieving students so many of us once were, conflating the ridiculous with the unserious. The incoherence and the incompetence of the attempt do not change its nature, however, nor do those traits allow us to dismiss it or ignore it until it finally fails on account of its incompetence.”

The Biggest Swings Toward and Against Trump
8:45 am EST
New York Times: “With most of the slow-to-report votes tallied, we finally have a clearer picture of last month’s presidential results. Despite the high polarization in the country that carried over to the reaction to the results — with 70 percent to 80 percent of Republicans still saying they disbelieve that Joe Biden won — in some respects the vote itself was less polarized than in 2016.

“Compared with 2016, in 2020 there was less difference by race or ethnicity, and urban areas and suburban areas voted more alike. But the economic and education partisan divides widened. Mr. Biden gained in well-educated suburbs and exurbs, often in places that have tended to vote Republican in recent decades, like the Atlanta, Dallas and Phoenix areas.”

Earmarks Poised to Make Return
8:30 am
“Congressional earmarks, once symbols of political corruption and profligate spending, could be primed for a comeback on Capitol Hill a decade after they were eliminated,” USA Today reports.

“Key leaders on Capitol Hill say it’s time to end the moratorium provided that rules requiring transparency ensure only legitimate projects make the cut. They also say return of earmarks would help build public support for Congress to pass more bills, including a COVID-19 stimulus package or a massive infrastructure bill, if they know there’s something that would benefit them directly.”

Fededral Judge Upholds Michigan Election Results

7:48 am
Georgia U.S, Senate candidate Jon Ossoff (D) tweeted a chicken emoji after Sen. David Perdue (R) didn’t show up for their scheduled debate saying Perdue’s “handlers won’t let him debate because he could incriminate himself on the Cardlytics emails, the submarine stock trades, or the Regions Bank deal — that alone is disqualifying.”

Government Funding Expires on Friday
7:41 am
Playbook: “We hear that Congress is likely to pass a one-week stopgap spending bill to buy another seven days for talks on government funding — that would make the shutdown deadline Dec. 18. Whether Congress eventually settles on a 12-bill omnibus or a three-month stopgap is still not clear. At this point, it seems like a three-month CR or something of that nature is becoming more likely. This would create a natural deadline in March for funding/another Covid relief bill. There seems to be a lot of disagreement about an omni at this point — but no one is ruling anything out.”

Stacey Abrams Blamed for Trump Not Conceding
7:30 am
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) seemed to blame Stacey Abrams (D) for President Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Raffensperger drew parallels between Abrams’ refusal to concede her loss in the 2018 gubernatorial race to Brian Kemp: “After four years of relentless attacks on the integrity of elections by the most significant mainstream media outlets and pundits, it should come as no surprise that Americans have trouble believing the results of even the most secure elections.”

California Locks Down Again
7:26 am
“Tens of millions of people in Southern California, the San Joaquin Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area will find themselves under new stay-at-home orders this week in an effort to slow the spread of Covid-19 and prevent hospitals from being overrun,” CNN reports.

“Roughly 33 million of California’s 39 million residents, about 85% of the nation’s most populous state, will be under the orders beginning Sunday evening.”

Two New Books on Trump’s Final Year
7:24 am
Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, both of The Washington Post, are teaming up to write a book on the final days of the Trump presidency and the first phase of the Biden presidency, Axios reports.

And Playbook reports Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig, who wrote A Very Stable Genius, will also team up again to write about Trump’s final year.

Ch, you may be trying to be fair minded, but this thing is getting out of hand. See this:

After months and months of the media and Democrats refusing to condemn BLM and Antifa rioting as armed BLM and Antifa members burned down people's businesses, assaulted people in broad daylight, assaulted the elderly and women, attacked police officers, took over parts of cities....

I find it a little disingenuous that you would consider people yelling obscenities to be "out of hand". Or that what went on in Seattle and other cities was not "anarchy" (when they literally took over areas and declared themselves to be their own law)...

but that yelling at someone from outside their house is?

What is fair minded about any of this?

As it stands, I don't believe that you should bring guns to your protests and I don't personally agree with protesting people at their own homes. But the reality is that every protest involves yelling and obscenities and with all due respect, that means that children will overhear it (even if it is not aimed at them). If yelling obscenities is your consistent version of what should never happen, then 99% of all protests in this country should end.

Biden’s Ambassador to the GOP
at 6:46 am
Politico: “Chris Coons was in the final two when it came to Joe Biden’s search for a secretary of State. But the president-elect had a simple message when he broke the news that the job would instead go to Tony Blinken.”

Said Biden: “I need you in the Senate.”

“The next president is telling that to lots of Democrats these days as he tries to staff his Cabinet. But in the Biden era, Coons may actually be the most critical individual Democrat on Capitol Hill — Biden truly needs his help to have any chance at accomplishment in a narrowly divided Congress.”

Pompeo to Head Home to Kansas
6:41 am
Wall Street Journal: “In an interview at his State Department office, Mr. Pompeo said he and his wife, Susan, aim to return at some point to Kansas to be with friends, family and their church community. As a congressman, he represented the state’s Fourth District for six years. … [L]ongtime supporters see Mr. Pompeo leveraging his national and international stature for a future run for governor, U.S. senator or, one day, president or vice president.”

“Kansas Republican National Committeeman Mark Kahrs sees Mr. Pompeo as a possible challenger to Kansas Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly in two years. While Mr. Kahrs said he still hopes President Trump will serve a second consecutive term, he believes Mr. Pompeo has a strong claim as Mr. Trump’s successor someday.”

Yep, the two are about equally despicable.

The Trafalgar poll is a little newer and much is coming out about Warnock over the past few days isn't flattering. The guy appears to be pretty much a full on kook.

But either way, one or the other pollster is going to end up with egg on their face here. That is a 12 point spread and one of those reasons why I don't believe that we should be really trusting much for polling.

And Antifa was also armed and actually did more than threaten bodily harm, they followed through on those threats on many, many occasions.

So did any of these protesters you are upset with actually assault anyone, vandalize anything, attack police, or otherwise attempt to take over the city block?

Seems to me that "fair minded" in your eyes is to defend and justify the actual behavior of BLM/Antifa while literally attacking the conservative protesters for what you "believe" they threatened (but didn't do)?

Tell me when in this country actually committing the acts is okay...

while someone perceived to be threatening something they did not do is a problem...

A peaceful vs non-peaceful protest is not a matter of opinion or projection of intent. It's the actions involved.

Did the protesters harm the residents, vandalize the property, or otherwise break the law?

If so, then they should be prosecuted in the same manner that BLM/Antifa protesters were when they get "out of hand" in actions.

ONE “PERMANENT REVOLUTION” DESERVES ANOTHER

There’s a cottage industry of liberal analysts who write about the alleged descent of conservatism and/or the Republican Party. Typically, these commentators yearn for the days when “responsible” conservatives like Dwight Eisenhower, or Mitt Romney, or (in some cases) even Ronald Reagan were the face of the Republican Party. We are expected to overlook the fact that these figures were viciously attacked by liberals in their time.

I’m not aware of any corresponding tendency among conservative scholars or pundits. Many of us regret the Democratic Party’s rejection of the liberalism of John Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey. However, we don’t obsess over, or try to analyze, it.

We take the Democrats as we find them and, to paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, we go to war (figuratively in this case) against the opposition we have.

The latest example of a liberal critique of Republicans appeared in Sunday’s Washington Post. The author is Geoffrey Kabaservice of the Niskanen Center. He has written a book called “Rule and Ruin: The Downfall of the Moderation and the Destruction of the Republican Party, from Eisenhower to the Tea Party.”

As you can tell from that title, and as Kabaservice says at the beginning of the article, he wrote much of the book before the rise of Donald Trump. But Trump fits his thesis of “downfall and destruction” as, undoubtedly, will the next wave of Republican leaders. Perhaps Kabaservice should have produced his book in loose leaf notebook form.

The title of Kabaservice’s article in the Post is “The forever grievance.” The theme is that, with the Tea Party and Trump, conservatism “has reached the point that it is. . .an endless, all-encompassing. . .struggle against established authority. . .” He argues that “the tea party-Trump tribe. . .has no fixed principles other than smashing a nebulous ‘deep state,’ forcing all institutions of society to bend to its will, and waging never-ending war against the Democrats.”

Kabaservice ignores obvious “fixed principles” of Trump’s brand of conservatism. They include the desire to eliminate government regulations that are considered unnecessary and oppressive; to cut, or at least control, non-defense spending; to lower taxes; to sharply curtail, if not eliminate, illegal immigration; to improve America’s trade deals; to appoint judges who are reasonably wedded to the Constitution as written and originally understood; and to disengage from foreign wars.

Kabaservice also ignores the extent to which conservatives are reacting to the downfall of moderation in the Democratic Party. This is a common failing of liberals who undertake to analyze conservatives. They assume that the liberal consensus is a fixed concept that roughly corresponds to the way things ought to be. In this telling, conservatives are restless revolutionaries, right-wing Trotsyites, bent on attacking and, if possible, destroying “established authority” (to use Kabaservice’s term).

In reality, conservatives to a considerable extent are reacting to a rapidly evolving opposition. At the heart of Trumpism is resentment over two malignant growths in liberalism — political correctness and identity politics. Conservatives (and not just Trumpists) believe that, with the ascent of these tendencies, left-liberals answers to Kabaservice’s description of the so-called Tea Party-Trump “tribe.”

Left-liberals are engaged in an endless, all-encompassing struggle — a “permanent revolution” — to remake existing institutions and bend them to their will. They have marched through America’s colleges and universities, bending them to the absurd demands of wokeness and America bashing. They are working their way through corporate American. They are “reimagining” policing and trying to curtail religious freedom.

Trumpism Rules said...

Trumpism is also, in part, a reaction to what Kabaservice acknowledges are “the real problems of non-college-educated Americans in rural regions and postindustrial towns, communities that have been destroyed by job losses, family dysfunction, and epidemics of drug and alcohol addiction.” Kabaservice doesn’t explain why these problems shouldn’t give rise to major grievances against “the established order” and a political movement that articulates these grievances.

Instead, he complains that the Tea Party and the Trumpists were/are “rooted in fact-free conspiracy theories about the treachery of Democrats and elites who allegedly plotted to destroy the livelihoods and traditions of ‘real Americans’ for their own benefit.”

There are some in these movements who allege an outright conspiracy. But no conspiracy theory is required to press the movements’ essential grievance. Mass illegal immigration benefits one class of Americans (upscale consumers) and harms another class (workers who must compete with cheap labor). Certain trade deals help many consumers at the expense of many who work in manufacturing.

There’s nothing abnormal about one political faction siding with a class aggrieved economically by a set of public policies, while another faction sides with the beneficiaries of the same policies. In fact, that’s roughly the story (or at least one story) of American political history.

Kabaservice concludes that, as a matter of political realism, the Republican Party cannot carry on forever as advocates for “a permanent revolution.” But it can do so as long as its opponents are carrying out a revolution of their own, or are widely perceived as doing so.

As I said, one goes to war against the opposition one has.

Giuliani's maskless tour may have spread COVID as well as lies
Yahoo News
December 7, 2020, 9:23 AM

Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized Sunday after President Trump announced the former New York City mayor, the president’s personal attorney and the point man for his efforts to overturn the results of the election, had tested positive for COVID-19.

Giuliani was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center, where he is “recovering quickly and keeping up with everything,” he tweeted late Sunday.

The 76-year-old has spent the past several weeks crisscrossing the country to promote the president’s baseless claims that the election was stolen by the Democrats.

In public appearances, Giuliani and other members of the Trump legal team have ignored social distancing guidelines and other public health recommendations to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

In the past week alone, Giuliani appeared at election-related hearings in Arizona, Michigan and Georgia, speaking in close proximity to others without wearing a mask.

After Giuliani’s COVID-19 diagnosis was made public, Arizona announced its state House and Senate would close for a week “out of an abundance of caution.” Giuliani spent more than 10 hours at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix last Monday discussing election concerns and posing for a group photo with Arizona Republicans, including two members of Congress and at least 10 current and future state lawmakers.

In Georgia, members of a state Senate subcommittee who attended Thursday’s hearing with Giuliani were advised to quarantine.

“Little did I know that the most credible death threat that I encountered last week was Trump’s own lawyer,” Jen Jordan, a Georgia Democratic state senator who met with Giuliani, tweeted Sunday afternoon. “To say I am livid would be too kind. The sham senate hearing was a travesty of justice. Now the impact might go far beyond that.”

The Trump campaign released a statement saying Giuliani tested negative for the virus before his recent trips and “did not experience any symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 until more than 48 hours after his return.”

Dozens of White House and campaign officials have been infected with COVID-19 in the past two months, including the president himself. Last month, Giuliani’s son, Andrew, who works for the administration, tested positive for COVID-19 a day after appearing with his father at a news conference in Washington.

“This may be Donald Trump’s most enduring legacy—a nihilistic political culture, one that is tribalistic, distrustful, and sometimes delusional, swimming in conspiracy theories. The result is that Americans are disoriented and frustrated, fearful of and often enraged at one another.

“Donald Trump didn’t invent misinformation and disinformation; they have been around for much of human history. But Trump—by virtue of his considerable skills in this area, aided by social media and capitalizing on ‘truth decay’ and diminishing trust in sources of factual information—exploited them more effectively than anyone else has in American history.”

It’s official: President Donald Trump lost Georgia three times in one election after he pressured the state’s Republican leaders to ignore an earlier recount and launch yet another. State election officials completed that count and are re-certifying President-elect Joe Biden as the winner, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced Monday during a press conference. “It's been a long 34 days since the election on November 3,” he said. “We have now counted legally cast ballots three times, and the results remained unchanged.”

I never heard you once suggest that BLM or Antifa rioting was leading us to chaos or that it had "gone too far"... even when they literally seized control of an entire neighborhood in Seattle by force and created their own set of rules.

But you seem to take issues with "obscenities" being shouted or the fact that Trump supporters holding any sort of rally anywhere where someone might have a gun (which is totally legal according to Open Carry Michigan Laws). This is where it is "gone too far".

You can argue that you don't support riots or what not... but this was not a riot nor was it violent and the fact that some of them were carrying weapons might have actually caused "counter-protesters" to take pause and decide not to go make trouble.

Counter protestors inspired by the lame duck President. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said dozens of armed protesters gathered in a threatening manner outside her home on Saturday evening chanting “bogus” claims about electoral fraud.

Michigan officials last month certified the state’s election results showing President-elect Joe Biden had won the state in the course of his Nov. 3 election victory. President Donald Trump and his supporters have challenged the outcome in a slew of futile lawsuits, and Biden is to take office on Jan. 20.

Protesters who rallied outside Benson's home held up placards saying "Stop the Steal" and chanted the same message, according here to various clips uploaded on social media.

You support this horror story.

James and I both condemned violence and property damage crimes

James and I both condemned violence and property damage crimes

If there was "violence" and "property damage" then I would certainly denounce those who committed those crimes.

But so far, I have seen zero actual reports of any "violence" or "property damage". Just protesting and chanting.

Again! As stated previously, I don't believe that it's appropriate for people to carry guns or protests at anyone's personal residence.

But unless you have evidence of violence or property damage I think you are just proving yourself to be full of shit and wrong.... again!

'gathered in a threatening manner outside her home'

ooh, spooky.

also, complete and utter bullshit.

just like those 'death threats' that democrats always seem to receive that never materialize.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

James this description of the CH to the tee!

I detail how gaslighters typically use the following techniques:

1. They tell blatant lies.

You know it's an outright lie. Yet they are telling you this lie with a straight face. Why are they so blatant? Because they're setting up a precedent. Once they tell you a huge lie, you're not sure if anything they say is true. Keeping you unsteady and off-kilter is the goal.

2. They deny they ever said something, even though you have proof.

You know they said they would do something; you know you heard it. But they out and out deny it. It makes you start questioning your reality—maybe they never said that thing. And the more they do this, the more you question your reality and start accepting theirs.

3. They use what is near and dear to you as ammunition.

They know how important your kids are to you, and they know how important your identity is to you. So those may be one of the first things they attack. If you have kids, they tell you that you should not have had those children. They will tell you'd be a worthy person if only you didn't have a long list of negative traits. They attack the foundation of your being.

4. They wear you down over time.

This is one of the insidious things about gaslighting—it is done gradually, over time. A lie here, a lie there, a snide comment every so often...and then it starts ramping up. Even the brightest, most self-aware people can be sucked into gaslighting—it is that effective. It's the "frog in the frying pan" analogy: The heat is turned up slowly, so the frog never realizes what's happening to it.

5. Their actions do not match their words.

When dealing with a person or entity that gaslights, look at what they are doing rather than what they are saying. What they are saying means nothing; it is just talk. What they are doing is the issue.

6. They throw in positive reinforcement to confuse you.

This person or entity that is cutting you down, telling you that you don't have value, is now praising you for something you did. This adds an additional sense of uneasiness. You think, "Well maybe they aren't so bad." Yes, they are. This is a calculated attempt to keep you off-kilter—and again, to question your reality. Also look at what you were praised for; it is probably something that served the gaslighter.

THE BASICS

What Is Gaslighting?Find a therapist who understands manipulative behavior

7. They know confusion weakens people.

Gaslighters know that people like having a sense of stability and normalcy. Their goal is to uproot this and make you constantly question everything. And humans' natural tendency is to look to the person or entity that will help you feel more stable—and that happens to be the gaslighter.

Exactly how it worked on Scott.

11: They tell you that everyone else is lying to you. (FAKE NEWS)

By telling you that everyone else (your family, the media) is a liar, it again makes you question your reality. You've never known someone with the audacity to do this, so they must be telling the truth, right? No. It's a manipulation technique. It makes people turn to the gaslighter for the "correct" information—which isn't correct information at all.

=/=

I don't know if the lame duck President knows what he's doing, but he's a perfect example of a gas lighter.

The planet just had its hottest November on record, and 2020 may end up beating 2016 for the ignominious title of the warmest calendar year.
Scientists have linked most, if not all, of the global warming in recent decades to human emissions of greenhouse gases.
The numbers come from the Copernicus Climate Change Service, a program of the European Commission, which is the first of several temperature tracking agencies to report temperature data for November and the first 11 months of the year.
According to Copernicus scientists, global average temperatures during November were 1.4 degrees (0.77 Celsius) above 1981-2010 levels, beating the previous warmest November by a large margin. Australia had its hottest November, which featured multiple severe heat waves, and persistently above-average temperatures continued in Siberia and the Arctic. Meanwhile, Norway, Sweden and England set national records for their hottest November, Copernicus stated in data released Monday.

Your problem Roger...

Isn't that you do not tell lies. Just that your lies and denials of lies are just so stupid and obvious that nobody would ever fall for it. A gaslighter at least convinces someone other than themselves.

Like when you stated that the surveillance videos were "doctored" or how section "320" protects the rights of "platforms" to censor based on the first amendment. Or even today when you told everyone that there was violence and property damage in Michigan (without any evidence of such).

But you want the best example in our life time of gaslighting in the purest and most widespread and successful sense of the word?

It's how certain people were able to convince close to half of America that the President elect "conspired" with a foreign enemy to steal the election through $125,000 worth of Facebook ads.

It was almost too stupid for anyone to believe it... but you did, didn't you?
