Some are questioning why it's not a crime to be out in public without a mask
First and foremost, one would have to medically prove beyond a reasonable doubt that wearing a mask is more than virtue signaling. Moreover, we would have to prove that there is a legal line in the sand that says exposing people to possible life threatening viruses is against the law. Most importantly, we would actually need to pass laws making it a crime.
Right now there is neither medical proof that mask wearing is the end all be all, and there is little written in our criminal statutes about exposing others to a virus is criminal. Without moving into the idea of whether or not there is evidence that not wearing a mask is more dangerous than say... driving a car, or drinking alcohol in public, we could focus on the criminal aspect. For instance, only 30 of the 50 states actually have a law against knowingly exposing someone to HIV, which has an almost exponentially higher rate of death than Covid-19 does. It's no longer a felony in California (for instance) and it has been decriminalized in many other states. If it's not illegal to knowingly infect someone with HIV, then how can it be illegal to be charged with the potential infection of someone with Covid. keeping in mind that it's literally impossible to know where someone picked up the virus or if a mask would have actually helped.
Reality is that people die from the flu, and we don't make it a crime to walk around with flu-like symptoms. We know that people die of lung disease, but we still allow people to smoke and vape in many public areas. Cardiovascular disease runs rampant, but it's not illegal to sell someone a Big Mac meal at McDonalds. Everyday we are exposed to people who put others at risk and we put others at risk with our own actions. We all need to grow up and understand that in this country people value their freedom and rebel against tyrannical politicians telling people what to do. To side with the politicians will put you on the wrong end of this debate in the long term... I promise you that.

To answer your question I say no
Right now, more people die from the covid-19 virus than of a heart attack or cancer.
We are losing 3,000+ every day
I suspect that if the President had lead the nation towards masking and social distancing from February 7th when he was informed that the covid-19 virus was spread through the air and direct contact, your spreadsheet would have tens of thousands fewer deaths.
No Mask = No Crime
I was an NBC NCO in the US Army , I can assure you your mask is of little to no value.
The Dark Winter Presidency is almost upon us.
Dec. 2nd, 2020
"“We’re likely to lose another 250,000 people dead between now and January,” Biden said.
He is running out of days for his Alky like prediction to become reality.
Lydia is safe with her new man.
History will prove your libertarian governmental philosophy has caused thousands of deaths.
Scott, apply your analytical skills upon, this question.
If masking and social distancing had not been suggested by the government, or scientists, how many people would have died from the covid-19 virus?
Yes Roger...
Science (which include several studies) shows us that masks can help by approximately 0.3% and since most of our population has been wearing masks (anyways), the difference would be less than that.
Statistically, the difference would have likely meant that about 30,000 less people would have been infected than otherwise would have had everyone worn masks since day one.
Of course that is the infection rate, not the death rate.
If you calculated it out statistically based on the science of completed scientific studies along with the known mortality rates... it would conclude that mask wearing would have probably saved about 500 deaths overall.
The lockdowns and mandates probably led to 100 times that many deaths in suicides, alcohol related deaths, and complications from other health issues that were put on the backburner because of Covid.
But the real reality is that had we actually listened to the science and realized early on that 80% of the people who die from Covid are over the age of 65 and had provided mandates and protections specific to protecting the vulnerable...
Rather than "pretend" that such science didn't exist and instead closed down schools, playgrounds, and told people they couldn't go to beaches or parks, while sending Covid patients back to Nursing homes...
We could have probably have saved the tens of thousands that you suggest would be saved by "ahem" the mask wearing that is already going on in most of the country.
So that is the real issue Roger. Lack of priority and a lack of transparency and a lack of a real plan that fit the problem.
That and people who beat their wives because of Covid. There as an increase in domestic violence that was tenfold because of this. Divorce and child abuse. And we all find domestic violence to be despicable and the problems with family breakups to be horrifying to all involved. Wouldn't you agree?
Oh and btw... Panama and Croatia just passed up Sweden in the number of deaths per million. The non-lockdown, no mask wearing Swedes had 30 deaths over the past two days.
They didn't do hardly "anything" back when you suggest that we all should have been wearing masks. Shouldn't they all be dead by now?
Bonkers squared up
President Trump doled out clemency to a new group of loyalists on Wednesday, wiping away convictions and sentences as he aggressively employed his power to override courts, juries and prosecutors to apply his own standard of justice for his allies.
One recipient of a pardon was a family member, Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Two others who were pardoned declined to cooperate with prosecutors in connection with the special counsel’s Russia investigation: Paul Manafort, his 2016 campaign chairman, and Roger J. Stone Jr., his longtime informal adviser and friend.
They were the most prominent names in a batch of 26 pardons and three commutations disclosed by the White House after Mr. Trump left for his private club in Palm Beach, Fla., for the holiday.
Also on the list released on Wednesday was Margaret Hunter, the estranged wife of former Representative Duncan D. Hunter, Republican of California. Both of them had pleaded guilty to charges of misusing campaign funds for personal expenses.
Scott, Sweden, Panama, Croatia, and several other nations, don't have near as many people from other nations that have been infected at a high per capita infections.
As many visitors!
Face masks reduce the risk of spreading large COVID-linked droplets when speaking or coughing by up to 99.9 percent, according to a lab experiment with mechanical mannequins and human subjects, researchers said Wednesday.
A woman standing two meters (yards) from a coughing man without a mask will be exposed to 10,000 times more such droplets than if he were wearing one, even if he is only 50 centimeters away, they reported in the journal Royal Society Open Science.
"There is no more doubt whatsoever that face masks can dramatically reduce the dispersion of potentially virus-laden droplets," senior author Ignazio Maria Viola, an expert in applied fluid dynamics at the University of Edinburgh's School of Engineering, told AFP.
Large respiratory droplets—which act like projectiles before being pulled toward the ground by gravity—are thought to be the main driver of SARS-CoV-2 transmission, he noted.
Smaller ones, sometimes called aerosol droplets, can remain suspended in the air for longer periods.
"We continuously exhale a whole range of droplets, from micro-scale to millimeter-scale," Maria Viola said by phone.
"Some of the droplets will drop faster than others" depending on temperature, humidity and especially air speed, he said.
The study focused on particles larger than 170 microns in diameter—roughly two to four times the width of a human hair.
Aerosol particles, which tend to follow currents in the air, are generally described as smaller than 20 or 30 microns.
Intermediate size droplets can behave either way, the study found.
Universal mask wearing
"If you wear a mask, you are mitigating the virus transmission by an order of magnitude—10 times less," Maria Viola said.
"In our study, for the larger droplets we measure, we're talking about 99.9 percent less."
According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) in Seattle, Washington, 55,000 lives could be saved in the United States over the next four months if a policy of universal mask use were adopted.
The Institute's modellers—who accurately predicted in mid-July that COVID-19 deaths in the US would top 224,000 by November 1—project 561,000 deaths on current trends by April 1, 2021.
Universal mask-wearing would reduce the global death toll by 400,000 over the same period, from 2.9 million to 2.5 million, they calculate. To date, the virus has claimed about 1.7 million lives.
Earlier this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) updated its COVID-19 guidance on masks to recommend they be worn indoors in the presence of other people if ventilation is inadequate.
The guidelines apply especially in areas of known or suspected community transmission.
Masks serve primarily to reduce the emissions of virus-laden droplets by people when they cough, sneeze, sing, talk or simply breathe, but they can also help prevent the inhalation of droplets by the person wearing them.
"Cloth masks not only effectively block most large droplets—20-30 microns and larger—but they can also block the exhalation of fine droplets and particles, also often referred to as aerosols," according to the CDC.

The HHS office, however, was worried about triage plans that discriminated against the elderly, "such that older persons might automatically be deemed ineligible for life-saving care without any individualized assessment." The president of the American Geriatric Society concurred, saying that age-based criteria "disfavo[r] older adults regardless of their function and health relative to COVID-19."
The CDC committee thus took two statements that championed the interests of the elderly and used them to justify a plan that would disproportionately kill senior citizens—implying that age-conscious alternatives were discriminatory, even as the race-conscious plan passed with unanimous support at a subsequent meeting.
All of this—the exclusions, the contradictions, the moral redundancies—helped disguise the agenda that it justified, giving unscientific value judgments an air of scientific assuredness.
The backlash against those judgments hasn't contained the ideology that gave rise to them. Marcella Nunez-Smith, a co-chair of Joe Biden's COVID-19 advisory board, commended the experts at the CDC for "taking political interference out of the process" and for "their grounding in inequity." Like them, she seems not to have realized the irony. We have to make sure that white people survive despite how many negroes died.
The next 27 days will be unprecedented, because he's not sane anymore.
With four weeks left in President Trump’s term, he is at perhaps his most unleashed — and, as events of the past few days have demonstrated, at the most unpredictable point in his presidency.
He remains the most powerful person in the world, yet he is focused on the one area in which he is powerless to get what he wants: a way to avoid leaving office as a loser.
He spends his days flailing for any hope, if not of actually reversing the outcome of the election then at least of building a coherent case that he was robbed of a second term.
When he has emerged from his relative isolation in recent days, it has been to suggest out of the blue that he would try to blow up the bipartisan stimulus package, driving a wedge through his party in the process, and to grant clemency to a raft of allies and supporters, mostly outside the normal Justice Department process. On Wednesday, he vetoed a defense bill backed by most of his party.
He has otherwise sequestered himself in the White House, playing host to a cast of conspiracy theorists and hard-core supporters who traffic in ideas like challenging the election’s outcome in Congress and even invoking martial law, seeking to give some of them government jobs.
He is almost entirely disengaged from leading the nation even as Americans are being felled by the coronavirus at record rates. Faced with an aggressive cyberassault almost surely carried out by Russia, his response, to the degree that he has had one, has been to play down the damage and to contradict his own top officials by suggesting that the culprit might actually have been China. He played almost no role in negotiating the stimulus bill that just passed Congress before working to disrupt it at the last minute.
It is not clear that Mr. Trump’s latest behavior is anything other than a temper tantrum, attention seeking or a form of therapy for the man who controls a nuclear arsenal — though one alternative, if charitable, view is that it is strategic groundwork for a grievance-filled run in 2024.
If nothing else, it will make for an especially anxious next 27 days in Washington.
This article is based on interviews with more than a dozen current and former Trump administration officials, Republicans and allies of the president.
President Trump and Republicans campaigned in 2020 by scaring Americans into thinking Democrats would “defund the police” and unleash a crime spree.
This helped Republicans keep control of the Senate (for now) and grow their numbers in the House. So what are they doing to celebrate? They’re defunding the police — as violent crime surges.
Are you kidding? Defund the police was all from the BLM, antifa, liberal rioters and activists, not to mention dem politicians. Look at Seattle, Minneapolis, NYC, other cities. It's the voters who rejectedvtgat.
Don't be so damn stupid.
Biden now talking about one horse ponies. His dementia is getting worse. He won't last one term.
The sad basis of Lil Schitty's claim that vote dumps were signs of voter fraud!!!!!! Now trump pardons his daughters in law with impunity and the ball less wonder shows how demented his fealty to trump is!!!!!! BWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! The trump crime family lives on!!!!!!
“Mr. President, you have said many times that this election was rigged, that there was much fraud and the facts are on your side,” Bartiromo opened. “Let’s start there. Please go through the facts. Characterize what took place.”
What followed was a nearly uninterrupted monologue propelled by the president’s baseless claims. Trump insisted that something mysterious had happened election night, when it appeared he was far ahead in key states and then suddenly was not. In fact, it was the predictable phenomenon of big-city votes taking longer to count, combined with this year’s late-counted surge of absentee ballots that surveys had long indicated would be dominated by Democrats.
Far from challenging Trump on these assertions, Bartiromo backed him up: “Then they did dumps,” she said, in the parlance of election conspiracy theorists. “Big massive dumps, in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and all over.” If anything, she seemed to buy completely into the president’s evidence-free claims of fraud that have been repeatedly rejected by federal and state officials, including many of Trump’s own allies and appointees. “This is disgusting,” she said, “and we cannot allow America’s election to be corrupted.”

BWAAAAAAAAA!!!!! You dumb fuck it was the R's hammering that message to the voters.....just like the messaging in South Florida that worked to move hispanic voters to trump....that biden was a socialist!!!!!!!! god you really need to open your eyes ballz!!!!!
The failed POTUS and the GOP that abetted him with their silence!!!!!!!! Funny that only half think this way!!!!
.
President Donald Trump leaves the White House next month with the country more sharply divided than when he moved in and amid caustic assessments of his record in office, a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds.
Fifty percent of Americans now predict history will judge him as a "failed" president.
The survey, taken in the waning weeks of his administration, shows the risks of actions he is contemplating on his way out the door. Americans overwhelmingly say issuing a preemptive pardon for himself would be an abuse of presidential power, and an even bigger majority, including most Republicans, say he should attend President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration to demonstrate the peaceful transfer of power.
This asshole deserves a pardon like Lil Schitty needs another mail order bride.......BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called it “one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes” he ever prosecuted as U.S. attorney.
After Charles Kushner discovered his brother-in-law was cooperating with federal authorities, the wealthy real estate executive and father of President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared, hatched a scheme for revenge and intimidation.
Kushner hired a prostitute to lure his brother-in-law, then arranged to have the encounter in a New Jersey motel room recorded with a hidden camera and the recording sent to his own sister, the man’s wife.
The scheme didn't work. Kushner later pleaded guilty to tax evasion and making illegal campaign donations in a case tailor-made for tabloid headlines.
On Wednesday Trump pardoned Kushner as part of a late-hour clemency spree during the final days of his presidency that has included a slew of campaign aides and allies, among them four of the six Trump associates convicted in the Mueller investigation. He has granted clemency to nearly 50 people in the last week.
The White House in its announcement cited Kushner's charitable work since he completed his sentence in 2006 as the reason he deserved clemency.
“This record of reform and charity overshadows Mr. Kushner’s conviction and 2 year sentence for preparing false tax returns, witness retaliation, and making false statements" to the Federal Election Commission, the White House said, adding that Kushner's case had been championed by Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, and others.
Refund the police came from the left. Gop rightly pointed out what a stupid idea it is and voters agree.
Refund the police......BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! It was used by the right to demonize any D!!!!!!! Why are you such a dumb fuck?????
Face masks reduce the risk of spreading large COVID-linked droplets when speaking or coughing by up to 99.9 percent
In other words, face masks reduce the amount of flem that might catch you in the face if someone sneezed directly at you? Again, only a moron would need a study to prove that.
Of course, almost nobody will actually "catch" the virus from someone sneezing directly into their face, so the study really is red herring.'
The only studies that matter are those controlled studies where one group wears a mask and another group (control group) doesn't. So far, not a single one of those studies (either controlled or just statistical analysis) has suggested anything other than cursory marginal help from mask wearing.
Rage on against face masks and against the obviously true science that wearing them can be helpful in reducing the spread of Covid-19.
It takes a real man or a real woman to admit when one was wrong. You are not a real man.
Numerous people are glad that they wore masks and thus may have benefitted from the 'cursory marginal help' they provided.
A lot of people who didn't wear them and later became sick, some even terminally ill, stated that they wished they had.
The CDC is a communist plot!
This Will Give You More Freedom in the Long Run, Says the CDC
The CDC also points out that following their recommendations — which include social distancing, avoiding non-essential travel, avoiding non-essential indoor spaces and crowded outdoor situations, and limiting contact of those who live outside of your household — will give you more freedom in the long run.
"Full implementation of public health prevention strategies can help preserve the functioning of essential businesses that supply food to the population, contribute to the health protection of communities and individual persons, and fuel economic recovery," they point out. "Full implementation of and adherence to these strategies will save lives."
Help us end this pandemic with fewer deaths, including your own—wear a face mask, social distance, avoid large crowds, don't go indoors with people you're not sheltering with, practice good hand hygiene and to protect your life and the lives of others,
It takes a real man or a real woman to admit when one was wrong. You are not a real man Scott asshole Johnson
