Covid Updates

Well apparently the original decision to withhold enough vaccinations to make sure that everyone who gets one dose can get the second dose has been overturned. First it was announced by the Biden team that this would change as soon as he was sworn in and then a couple of days later, it became the actual implemented strategy. 

To be clear, this move is actually opposed by Fauci and others who understand that if there are not enough doses to give people the second dose, that the first dose will not work and would have been effectively wasted. But apparently the "appearance" of providing the states with "more" doses, even though the bottleneck is in the actual vaccinations (not the vaccine) won out over what is medically recommended.  

Better to do something stupid, rather than do nothing at all has always been the Democrat motto.

In that same vein, there are apparently some disparities among the states, with some being very effective in getting people vaccinated, while others (New York, California) cannot seem to find their own asses with both hands. Again with the bureaucracy getting in the way of efficiency. Some day you would think they would learn. Just not today.

As we are still hitting record high numbers of Covid deaths, the blue states continue to increase their lead with the deaths per million.  Democratic run states are now at 1188 which was an increase of 34 since the last time I updated things. Meanwhile Republican run states increased by 32 and trail at 1114.  California seems to be leading the way with tens of thousands of new cases every day and hundreds of deaths. But the Governor is offering people $600 in state money if they don't recall him.

Meanwhile Sweden has been averaging 22 deaths a day since the new year. I guess their strategy has really proven to have blown up in their faces, huh?
