Biden knows his inauguration will attract violence. He plans to hold it anyway, for no particular benefit to the country. Can he be impeached DURING the inauguration to save time?
Scott says Biden plans to hold the inauguration anyway, "for no particular benefit to the country."
Even during the Civil War we held an election and an inauguration.
Apparently Lincoln and others thought doing that was of some benefit to the country.
Scott, on the other hand, does not seem to think that trying to prevent a legitimate election and inauguration are institutions of democracy we should defend with our lives.
President Trump plans to leave Washington on Wednesday morning before President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in, according to a senior administration official. Trump had previously announced he would not attend his successor’s inauguration at the U.S. Capitol, breaking with decades of tradition. Biden is seeking Friday to keep a focus on combating the coronavirus with a planned speech in Wilmington, Del., on vaccine distribution a day after he called the rollout by Trump’s administration a “dismal failure.” Here’s what to know: The vast majority of Americans say they oppose the actions of the rioters who stormed and ransacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, while smaller majorities say Trump bears responsibility for the attack and that he should be removed from office and disqualified from serving again, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.
A hearing scheduled for Biden’s nominee to serve as the nation’s top intelligence official, Avril D. Haines, has been postponed until next week, according to leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
As Trump’s second impeachment trial looms, the Senate Democratic leader’s office is emphasizing cooperation with Republicans rather than conflict — suggesting that Democrats want their latest effort to be more bipartisan than the last one.
The violent mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol came perilously close to Vice President Pence, who was not evacuated from the Senate chamber for about 14 minutes after the Capitol Police reported an initial attempted breach of the complex.
As the President departs the White House this song should be played.

On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic.
“Much more will become clear in coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough. The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution.
The four most influential elected leaders of the last decade are, in no particular order, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Donald Trump. Three of those people are gross narcissists. But as is always my contention, our elections (particularly our presidential ones) are mirrors – they tell us about the state of the nation more than anything else. Narcissism runs deep in our current culture.
Now this comes in degrees. I am not necessarily talking about pathological narcissism. The hallmarks of the narcissist are a need for attention (social media), a lack of empathy (trolls -and let’s be honest we’re all trolls at some point) and an inability to distinguish the self from external objects. This last hallmark can be seen in all sorts of phenomena, but most particularly in pandemic responses where we expect everyone else to be as afraid, or not as afraid, as we are. In general we tend to worry about ourselves and our well-being, while ignoring or diminishing anything that is bigger than that.
This observation is readily transparent in this ugly, unsavory conclusion to our current election and in the pandemic. In this transition of power we have completely lost sight of the fact that law matters more than personal loss or animus. We want what we want, even if it means tearing down the system (either violently or by ignoring the plain law) that has granted us the freedom to strive for what we want. Many locales continue to lockdown to ever greater extents when the vaccine is out. The focus; therefore, is on personal protection, not solving the problem. Rapid, efficient distribution and administration of the vaccine is the ultimate answer here, everything else is a stop-gap at best.
Identity politics is all about the self. I will not belabor it any further. We have completely lost sight of anything bigger than the self. Thus if my maxim that elections are mirrors hold, it is no wonder then that we elect narcissists.
In this morning’s Washington Post-ABC News poll, 66 percent of Republicans believe that president Trump has behaved responsibly since the election; and 65 percent of Republicans believe there is “solid evidence” that the election was stolen. By around 2:1, Republicans say they are no longer confident in the “integrity” of the electoral system overall. The Trump fandom remains intense: in a PBS/Marist poll, 69 percent of Republicans insist that Trump deserves little or no blame for the capitol assault, with 51 percent saying zero blame. 75 percent of Republicans still approve of their leader.
Maybe the Big Lie will fade. But maybe not. Think of Trump’s original, despicable lie that Obama was not born in the U.S. Another attack on the core legitimacy of a president. It was never true, even Trump himself briefly recanted, but years later, as 538’s Kaleigh Rogers notes, “As recently as [2019], a YouGov poll found that 34 percent of Americans think it’s “probably true” or “definitely true” that Obama was born in Kenya … among self-identified Republicans, that number was 56 percent.”
This is not a divide about who should be president, or whether to wear a mask, or if climate change exists, or whether to support Brett Kavanaugh. This is a divide on the very legitimacy of the entire democratic system. Under these circumstances, the horrifying violence last week should not have been a shock. When a democracy has become illegitimate in the eyes of a big plurality of the voters, and therefore the wrong man is due to take office next week, and the entire Establishment is widely seen as behind this coup, the only recourse is violence. This is entirely rational, given the premise. If you sincerely believe that the election result was a landslide for Trump, and yet Biden is still on track to take office, why on earth would you not use violence?
This is why Trump should be impeached and convicted in the Senate. Not because he directly incited a riot against members of Congress and his own vice-president — and chose not to intervene while it continued. It’s that Trump has repeatedly, insistently and emphatically attacked the legitimacy of the entire democracy he is in charge of. This is not just a Big Lie, as others have noted. It’s the Biggest Lie Imaginable. It’s arsenic to a functioning democracy, and Trump has long injected it directly into the veins of the American system.
If the Republicans go away from Trump, they won't win again until 2037.
What purpose could banishing Trump from the party serve? If the GOP in 2024 nominates someone not viewed as representing the 74 million Americans who voted to reelect the president, it would be asking for the forming of a MAGA Party that would spoil presidential elections and ensure Democratic victory for the next three election cycles.
Don’t forget that in 1992, third-party candidate Ross Perot garnered an astounding 19% of the popular vote, stealing enough support from the elder President Bush to allow Bill Clinton to win. And Perot would have received far more had he not exited the race in July, then re-entered in October. Yet he was able to end Bush’s presidency with less than 20 million votes – only a slice of Trump’s 74 million. The populist Texas tycoon capitalized on elements of the same anti-GOP establishment sentiment that now animates tens of millions of Trump voters, such as Republicans not fighting hard enough to cut taxes.
If Trump feels he has been treated unfairly by Republicans, in either the impeachment or being denied the 2024 nomination, he – or Don Jr. or Ivanka, or even a MAGA loyalist like, say, White House trade chief Peter Navarro – could follow in Perot’s footsteps and assure a Democrat victory four years from now, and in subsequent elections. And it would take a lot less than Perot’s 19% to shift enough electoral votes to prevent the GOP from winning the White House. What’s more, a third party self-styled MAGA candidate could emerge and spoil the election even without any Trump blessing, if Trump’s followers are dissed badly enough.
Republicans, who have often celebrated their party as a “big tent” on abortion issues, will be massacred by MAGA if the tent is not big enough in 2024 to include the movement.
both are lies alky. just like your whole life. one big fat alcoholic, wife beating, liver failure fucking LIE. papered with restraining orders, divorce decrees, anti-rejection drug prescriptions, and nursing home regimens.
A majority of Republicans appear to agree with the rioters’ underlying fury stemming from a conviction that the November election was stolen, and that Trump’s administration is coming to an unfairly early end.
When one party has so fully absorbed the fictionalized account that Biden is an illegitimate president, true “unity” seems a long way off.
Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.
The New York Jets hired San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to be their new head coach, making him the first Mooslimb to run an NFL sideline, the team announced Thursday night.
Federal prosecutors say there is strong evidence that some members of the pro-Trump mob that raided the Capitol last week planned to assassinate lawmakers.
What You Need To KnowFederal prosecutors in Arizona say, "Strong evidence ... supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States Government" The grisly accusation appears in a court filing in Arizona requesting that a judge order one of the alleged rioters, Jacob Anthony Chansley, to remain jailed until his trial Meanwhile, reports say that dozens of people on a terrorist watch list and former members of the U.S. military or law enforcement were seen at or near the Capitol Jan. 6 FBI Director Christopher Wray said Thursday that his agency is tracking an “extensive amount of concerning online chatter, ”including about armed protests before Biden’s inauguration Wednesday.
The grisly accusation appears in a court filing in Arizona requesting that a judge order one of the alleged rioters, Jacob Anthony Chansley, to remain jailed until his trial. Chansley, also known as Jake Angeli and the “QAnon Shaman,” is the man photographed inside the Capitol shirtless, covered in tattoos and wearing a fur, horned hat. He was arrested last week and is charged with crimes that include actively participating in an insurrection and obstructing a congressional proceeding.
In the 18-page memo filed Thursday, federal prosecutors in Arizona wrote: “Strong evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States Government.”
The prosecutors say Chansley, 33, left a note on the Senate dais, where Vice President Mike Pence had sat just moments before, that read, “It's only a matter of time, justice is coming.” He, however, told investigators he did not intend for the note to be a threat, the document said.
The allegations come amid other disturbing signs that suggest the Jan. 6 riot was far more sinister than an attempt to disrupt the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win and as officials warn of more planned armed protests in the coming days.
The Washington Post reported Thursday dozens of people on a terrorist watch list were in Washington for the pro-Trump events on Jan. 6. The majority of them are suspected white supremacists, the article said.
The Associated Press reported Friday that at least 21 current or former members of the U.S. military or law enforcement have been identified as being at or near the Capitol riot, with more than a dozen others under investigation but not yet named. In many cases, those who stormed the Capitol appeared to employ tactics, body armor and technology that were similar to those of the very police they were confronting.
FBI Director Christopher Wray said Thursday that authorities have identified more than 200 suspects involved in the Capitol siege. He also said the agency is tracking an “extensive amount of concerning online chatter,” including about armed protests before Biden’s inauguration Wednesday.
“We know who you are, if you’re out there, and FBI agents are coming to find you,” Wray said. “My advice to people who might be inclined to follow in the footsteps of those engaged in the kind of activity we saw last week is stay home, look at what’s happening now to the people who were involved in the Capitol siege.”
Among those arrested so far, some have been charged with weapons offenses – including one man who allegedly had 11 Molotov cocktails in his pick-up truck.
Five deaths, including of a Capitol Police officer, are tied to the rioting, which broke out just after President Donald Trump addressed his supporters at a nearby rally, repeating false claims of election fraud and calling on the crowd to march to the Capitol. Trump has since been impeached by the House for inciting an insurrection.
Chansley told investigators that he traveled to Washington with a group of “patriots” at the request of the president.
you keep bringing up your fictitious "systemic racism" as to why leftist rioting good, while rightist rioting bad...
considering the fact that in the 1950's and early 1960's systemic racism was REAL, as in actually happening, and was exponentially, by several orders of magnitude WORSE than it is today, MLK Jr. chose PEACEFUL protesting as a means to address the issue and open a national conversation about it.
so tell us, on the eve of the MLK Jr. holiday, why was peaceful protesting acceptable then when there was REAL ACTUAL SYSTEMIC racism, while Burning, Murderous, Looting is required NOW to address the same issue. the same issue where there is so much LESS of it today???
At least 30 U.S. House members, including Virginia Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, are asking Capitol Police to review “suspicious behavior and access given to visitors to the Capitol Complex on Tuesday, January 5.”
They say people associated with the Jan. 6 rally near the White House, which ended shortly before the Capitol breach, were seen taking tours the day before.
Only members of Congress can offer tours currently because the Capitol is closed due to the pandemic.
Members of the Freedom Caucus aka fascist caucus began circulating a petition Wednesday to force a special conference meeting so they could debate and vote on a resolution calling on Cheney to resign from her post. Just 20 percent, or 42 members, of the House GOP is required to sign the petition in order to force the meeting. But a majority of the conference would need to agree to the resolution in order for it to be adopted. That vote would be conducted via secret ballot.
“The conference ought to vote on that,” Rep. Jim Jordan (Ohio), a co-founder of the arch-conservative caucus, said in the Capitol on Wednesday. “We ought to have a second vote.” Cheney was just unanimously reelected to her position in November.
The resolution obtained by POLITICO states that Cheney’s position “does not reflect that of the majority of the Republican Conference and has brought the Conference into disrepute and produced discord.”
Cheney, however, made clear she has no intentions of leaving voluntarily.
"I'm not going anywhere. This is a vote of conscience,” she told POLITICO in the Capitol. “It's one where there are different views in our conference. But our nation is facing an unprecedented, since the civil war, constitutional crisis.
She's a very conservative woman. She supported Trump 99% of the .
We look like a banana Republic, because of one man.
FBI Director Chris Wray said Thursday the agency is tracking an "extensive amount of concerning online chatter." That includes calls for armed protests ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's January 20 inauguration.
He said possible rallies and protests in state capitols nationwide could draw individuals who are armed near officials and government buildings.
"We're looking at individuals who may have an eye towards repeating that same kind of violence that we saw last week," said Wray, in his first public remarks since pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol.
The FBI has now identified more than 200 suspects since the attack on January 6, according to Wray. He warned: "If you're out there, an FBI agent is coming to find you."
Details about suspects are increasingly coming to light.
Some of them have been identified as current or former police or military.
One is a retired Air Force officer, who was arrested in Texas last weekend after allegedly being seen in a viral photo holding plastic zip-tie handcuffs in the Senate chamber. A prosecutor said Thursday he was carrying them because he intended "to take hostages." he should lose his pension and medical insurance.
"He means to take hostages. He means to kidnap, restrain, perhaps try, perhaps execute members of the U.S. government," Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Weimer said of retired Lieutenant Colonel Larry Rendall Brock Jr.
A law enforcement official told CBS News that a police officer in Washington D.C. saw rioters use military-style hand signals to communicate inside the Capitol building during the assault. The identification of people using military, small unit tactics is among the "highest priorities" for a Sedition Task Force run by the D.C. U.S. Attorney's office, CBS News' Catherine Herridge reported.
Federal authorities have charged over 40 people in connection with the riot.
Trump might issue hundreds of pardons for these traitors.

“Frustrated by the loss of his Twitter account and forced to accept that he soon must leave office, President Trump has effectively stopped doing his job, delegating daily responsibilities to Vice President Mike Pence while hunkering down with a shrinking group of acquiescent aides and contemplating additional presidential pardons,” the Los Angeles Times reports.
“Trump had considered leaving the White House before his final day in office Wednesday, even as early as this weekend, but he has opted to depart on the morning of President-elect Joe Biden’s Inauguration Day, according to two people familiar with discussions who cautioned that, with Trump, plans are always subject to change.”
“Intrigued by the idea of upstaging Biden, the ever self-centered president has requested a major sendoff. It would begin with a throng of cheering, flag-waving staffers and supporters to see him off on the White House’s South Lawn, and continue to a more formal ceremony at Joint Base Andrews, featuring a red carpet, military band, color guard and 21-gun salute. He’ll make his final Air Force One flight to Florida, to take up residence at Mar-a-Lago, his West Palm Beach, Fla., estate.”
The only good point Lil Schitty makes is the one on top of his empty skull as he follows trump off the cliff like a lemming !!!!!!!! Sad he also thinks trump not attending the inauguration is okay as trump really won!!!!!!! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
And the heat goes on......As I predicted months ago, 2020 now another trump legacy......hottest evah!!!!!!!!
Last year was by a narrow margin the hottest ever on record, according to Nasa, with the climate crisis stamping its mark on 2020 through soaring temperatures, enormous hurricanes and unprecedented wildfires.
The average global land and ocean temperature in 2020 was the highest ever measured, Nasa announced on Thursday, edging out the previous record set in 2016 by less than a tenth of a degree.
Related: Countries adapting too slowly to climate breakdown, UN warns
Due to slightly different methods used, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa) judged 2020 as fractionally cooler than 2016, while the UK Met Office also put 2020 in a close second place. The European Union’s climate observation program puts the two years in a dead heat.
Regardless of these minor differences, all the datasets again underlined the long-term heating up of the planet due to the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and other human activities.
The world’s seven hottest years on record have now all occurred since 2014, with the 10 warmest all taking place in the last 15 years. There have now been 44 consecutive years where global temperatures have been above the 20th-century average.
Scientists said average temperatures will keep edging upwards due to the huge amount of greenhouse gases we are expelling into the atmosphere. “This isn’t the new normal,” said Gavin Schmidt, director of Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. “This is a precursor of more to come.”
All this asshole needs to do is call donnie in Mar a Lago and ask for some help!!!!! I am sure trump would be magnanimous and are front this poor supporter some money to get off the street...or offer a room in his resort!!!!!! bWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Indie-rock artist Ariel Pink, who came under fire and was dropped by his label after controversy arose over his support for Donald J. Trump, went on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday night to answer the host’s questions about being “stripped of his livelihood,” telling Carlson he is “destitute” as a result of cancel culture.
In response to Carlson’s statement that Pink is “a recording artist who can’t record,” Pink said, “I can’t tour either at this point. So it pretty much leaves me destitute and on the street. I’m sort of overwhelmed right now and I don’t know exactly what to do.”
Why I think the GOP's days are numbered.....so many of these idiots along with white supremacists think like this!!!!!! And the slurpers here welcome their numbers into the fold of trump and his lies!!!!! Sad, I always thought Lil Schitty had a brain....I can no longer hold that as a truth......BWAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Ben Collins Fri, January 15, 2021, 4:50 PM Online far-right movements are splintering in the wake of last week’s Capitol riot, as some radical anti-government movements show signs of disillusionment with the relatively hands-off approach of some QAnon conspiracy theorists amid warnings of future violence.
Users on forums that openly helped coordinate the Jan. 6 riot and called for insurrection, including 4chan and TheDonald, have become increasingly agitated with QAnon supporters, who are largely still in denial that President Donald Trump will no longer be in the Oval Office after Jan. 20.
QAnon adherents, who believe Trump is secretly saving the world from a cabal of child-eating Satanists, have identified Inauguration Day as a last stand, and falsely think he will force a 10-day, countrywide blackout that ends in the mass execution of his political enemies and a second Trump term.
Several QAnon supporters were arrested after storming the Capitol last week, including Jacob Chansley, whose lawyer said his client believed he was “answering the call of our president.”
QAnon believers have spent the last week forwarding chain letters on Facebook and via text message, often removing the conspiracy theory’s QAnon origins, in an effort to prepare friends and family for what they believe to be the upcoming judgment day.

I have been wondering about this.
1:Biden is facing the most important situation, perhaps in history. We have a domestic terrorism problem that is unprecedented.
2:The worst medical crisis in a century or more!
3: We are facing a record economic crisis in history because of the pandemic.
4:The most dangerous President in history will leaving office on January 20th.
I think that we can multi task.
Trump should be convicted and made ineligible to run for federal office again.
Because step number one is the most important issue, even after he leaves offic, we should weaken his influence in the Republican party.
The Grand Old Party has to get rid of Trump, or they might disappear.

Arlington is the most sacred space in our republic. And Liz's father helped to fill the place.
she's an insufferable cunt.
According to Trump Arlington is filled with losers and suckers.
It’s that Trump has repeatedly, insistently and emphatically attacked the legitimacy of the entire democracy he is in charge of.
no he didn't.
He has repeatedly, insistently and emphatically attacked the legitimacy of the 2020 election in particular, and our electoral system in general.
and a majority agrees.
thanks to democrats and the house of lies they built to justify voter fraud, our electoral system can never be trusted again. ever,
trust, SHOT.
integrity, SHOT.
nice job democrats.
best one i've heard yet -
Biden's inauguration = Usurper's Ball.
LOL.

that one sits right next to the "fine people on both sides" LIE.
you prove the point alky.
the only way your side wins is to LIE.

"wife beating" will cost you thousands of dollars
Well Roger...
How many lies have you told about me?
Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.
I never said that you beat your wife

Federal prosecutors say there is strong evidence that some members of the pro-Trump mob that raided the Capitol last week planned to assassinate lawmakers.
What You Need To KnowFederal prosecutors in Arizona say, "Strong evidence ... supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States Government"
The grisly accusation appears in a court filing in Arizona requesting that a judge order one of the alleged rioters, Jacob Anthony Chansley, to remain jailed until his trial
Meanwhile, reports say that dozens of people on a terrorist watch list and former members of the U.S. military or law enforcement were seen at or near the Capitol Jan. 6
FBI Director Christopher Wray said Thursday that his agency is tracking an “extensive amount of concerning online chatter, ”including about armed protests before Biden’s inauguration Wednesday.
Chansley is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
Chansley told investigators that he traveled to Washington with a group of “patriots” at the request of the president.
hey alky, here's a question you won't answer...
you keep bringing up your fictitious "systemic racism" as to why leftist rioting good, while rightist rioting bad...
considering the fact that in the 1950's and early 1960's systemic racism was REAL, as in actually happening, and was exponentially, by several orders of magnitude WORSE than it is today, MLK Jr. chose PEACEFUL protesting as a means to address the issue and open a national conversation about it.
so tell us, on the eve of the MLK Jr. holiday, why was peaceful protesting acceptable then when there was REAL ACTUAL SYSTEMIC racism, while Burning, Murderous, Looting is required NOW to address the same issue. the same issue where there is so much LESS of it today???
let's see the alky copy/paste himself out of answering THAT question.
LOL.
Today’s MLK actual birthday
At least 30 U.S. House members, including Virginia Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, are asking Capitol Police to review “suspicious behavior and access given to visitors to the Capitol Complex on Tuesday, January 5.”
They say people associated with the Jan. 6 rally near the White House, which ended shortly before the Capitol breach, were seen taking tours the day before.
Only members of Congress can offer tours currently because the Capitol is closed due to the pandemic.
The Republican's Civil War.
Pence Fills the Void as ‘Acting President’

McConnell said that Trump "failed in his Insurrection".
First, it's a series of virtual events so Adam's criticism is stupid.
Second, you are criticizing US for YOUR violence. We aren't cowering before YOUR terrorism and you blame US for that. Fuck off.

Online far-right movements are splintering in the wake of last week’s Capitol riot, as some radical anti-government movements show signs of disillusionment with the relatively hands-off approach of some QAnon conspiracy theorists amid warnings of future violence.
