Biden sets record with his 43 executive orders in first two weeks

Biden the candidate demands that Biden the President is a dictator!

“I’ve got to get the votes,” said then-candidate Biden. “I have this strange notion, we are a democracy … if you can’t get the votes … you can’t [legislate] by executive order unless you’re a dictator. We’re a democracy. We need consensus,” said Biden.

Well there is an argument as to whether Joe Biden is really the one calling the shots here, or if he is little more than the Manchurian President. Either way, so far Joe Biden has lived up to almost nothing that he claimed he was about when he was running. He has not been moderate (at all). He has not been unifying (in any manner). He has certainly not been willing to reach out and gain any consensus.

Moreover, the only things that Democrats in the House and Senate are pushing for is a consolidation of control that would allow them to Govern without having to deal with Republicans what-so-ever. This is an attitude that is ultimately reflective of the leader who sits in the White House, whether intentional or not.

Interesting thing is that Biden and his press secretary can't even justify their own executive orders.

The Biden administration was asked at their initial press conference why an executive order was made to allow China back into accessing our electrical grid.

The press secretary admitted she didn't know and would "circle back"

She still hasn't.

And nobody has asked China Joe directly.

While your so busy writing those you would think you would know why.

Or maybe they know and don't want to tell us.

Actually Roger...

The entire concept of "counting deaths and blaming a person" is dumb and senseless. The entire reason I put that up there is so that when you, the Reverend, Bwaaa and whomever decide to complain about it... it might make you take pause and understand that it is stupid to blame the President simply for being "the President".

That being said, you probably still won't get it.

Dr. Mike Yeadon, Pfizer’s former Vice President and Chief Scientist for Allergy & Respiratory, states that the drive for a universal vaccine has ‘the whiff of evil’ which he ‘will oppose … vigorously.’

Pfizer pharmaceutical made headlines announcing the imminent release of their COVID-19 vaccine, to much fanfare, but a former Vice President and Chief Scientist for the company has flatly rejected the need for any vaccines to bring the COVID-19 pandemic to an end.

In a recent article, Dr. Michael Yeadon, who “spent over 30 years leading new [allergy and respiratory] medicines research in some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies,” and retired from Pfizer with “the most senior research position in this field,” wrote:

There Is Absolutely No Need For Vaccines To Extinguish The Pandemic. I’ve Never Heard Such Nonsense Talked About Vaccines. You Do Not Vaccinate People Who Aren’t At Risk From A Disease. Former Pfizer employee wrong that coronavirus pandemic is ‘effectively over’ in UK

IF YOUR TIME IS SHORT

The coronavirus pandemic is not “effectively over” in the United Kingdom, and it was not nearing its end point in October when a former Pfizer employee claimed it was.

New cases have surged in the U.K. over the last several months. The U.K. recently became the first country to approve the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine for distribution.

The U.K. and other countries remain a long way from achieving herd immunity without a vaccine, experts said. It’s wrong to say there’s “no need for vaccines.”

See the sources for this fact-check

As Pfizer landed approval to begin distributing its COVID-19 vaccine in the United Kingdom, a former company employee’s wrong claims downplaying the pandemic recirculated online.

The social media posts rely on statements made by Michael Yeadon, who argued in an Oct. 16 blog post that the coronavirus pandemic is "effectively over" in the U.K., and that "there is absolutely no need for vaccines to extinguish the pandemic."

The posts suggest that Yeadon’s connection to Pfizer makes his views on the pandemic and vaccines credible.

"This is a factual article from a factual publication by a factual doctor who happens to be one of the utmost leading expert(s) on vaccines in the world," one Instagram post said.

"Here we have it," another post on Facebook said. "The company making the vaccine saying the pandemic is over and healthy people do not need a vaccine."

But Yeadon hasn’t worked for Pfizer in nine years, according to the Associated Press and his LinkedIn profile. He was formerly the chief scientific officer of allergy and respiratory research, his profile says.

And his claims are wrong, experts told PolitiFact. So are the social media posts that spread them. The posts were flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

The coronavirus pandemic is far from over in the U.K. and in other countries, as case spikes in recent months have shown. A widespread vaccine could prevent future waves, experts said.

The Associated Press also debunked Yeadon’s statements. Fact-checkers with Lead Stories and Health Feedback previously addressed similarly inaccurate claims he made in a separate blog post and in an interview with a talk radio host in the U.K.

So, Jen Psaki had to admit yesterday, without even her customary dodge of circling back, that someone -- she would not say who – had phoned Senator Manchin about the interview, presumably to make amends. Even CNN, well connected with the Biden White House, could not even get a straight answer:

The source [“a person with knowledge of the conversation”] declined to say what the White House said to Manchin or who from the White House called him, but the call underscores the delicate balancing act President Joe Biden faces as he and Democrats try to hold a narrow Senate majority together to pass a sweeping Covid relief plan -- and any other legislation this year.

I am pretty sure that this means that some heavy-duty groveling was involved. Like many people widely mocked outside their home state. West Virginians are a proud bunch and do not react well to strangers looking down their noses at them. Harris, already a wealthy Californian, whose stepdaughter just received a modeling contract that is difficult to justify on aesthetic grounds, personifies status, privilege, and arrogance.

At the time them-Senator Harris was chosen as Biden’s running mate, a female who could claim Black heritage. Demographically, that was almost mandatory, given the role of the Black constituency in putting Biden over the top in the South Carolina primary, and its standing as a quarter of the Dems’ voting base. And, if the party were going to go with another white male at the top of the ticket, a female also was virtually mandatory in the veep slot.

But Harris has no subtlety, no finesse. She got her start in politics by sleeping with the (married) most powerful politician in California, and since then has risen through the hierarchy of public offices based on identity politics and personal pull in a one-party state.

With Biden’s physical and mental health questionable, she has a good chance to become the first female POTUS without being elected to the office. Cleaning up after her messes then, in the hands of her chosen staff of lackeys, may be costly to all of us, not just to her dignity.

To hear right-wing media talk about it, the January 6 pro-Trump putsch that left five dead and 140 Capitol Police officers injured was a fluke.

After cycling through a series of responses that included cheering on the attack and making baseless claims of left-wing infiltration, the conservative movement seems to have decided to move on and pretend this whole thing never happened. It’s in the past! Mistakes were made, but there’s no need to discuss it further! Surely, it was just a one-time thing!

Unfortunately, it’s quite obvious that the Capitol insurrection wasn’t just a one-off event that can be shrugged off and buried. Threats remain: More than three weeks after the attack, Capitol Police arrested a West Virginia man carrying an unlicensed gun, 20 rounds of ammunition, and “Stop the Steal paperwork.” Another armed man from Texas was recently arrested near the White House. A California Trump supporter was caught stockpiling pipe bombs, and the Department of Homeland Security issued a terrorism advisory warning that “some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.”

It’s no accident that so many people on the right are ready to take up arms against prominent Democrats. Conspiratorial thinking and disinformation fuels this right-wing rage.

and here's a lesson in the failures of minimum wage economics right in the alky's backyard...

The City of Long Beach, California has been among the hardest hit in the country as a result of COVID-19 restrictions placed by both the state and the City of Long Beach. Lots of small businesses continue to remain closed and those lucky enough to be open are struggling for business. Among the businesses that never closed, grocery stores have been exempt from most, if not all of the government-imposed restrictions.

There’s an old saying about the road to hell, and it definitely applies in this case. In order to reward the work of grocery store employees, Long Beach passed the “Hero Pay” measure, which increased the pay of grocery store employees by four dollars an hour. While the measure seems like it was well-intentioned, good intentions don’t balance budgets nor make the availability of products any more diverse. Long Beach officials were looking for a positive moment in the press, however, the Kroger grocery brand quickly put that to rest, by announcing that they were closing two grocery stores in the city, a Ralph’s location as well as a Food4Less store.

In an interesting development, Kroger tied the decision to close the stores directly to the ordinance. Most of the time, companies are less likely to wag their finger at the government as they don’t wish to draw the regulatory ire of elected officials. In this case, Kroger didn’t hold back. When people (who obviously don’t understand how business works yet continue to opine about it) began to attack Kroger about the decision, Kroger doubled-down to respond to those critics:

The adults are in charge now...

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Are there really that many abandoned land mines lying around in West Virginia? Enough to make a whole job industry out of minesweeping?” And: “Is it safe to go hiking there?”

Friends, I asked this too. As a West Virginia resident myself, the question is urgent. Admittedly, I have never once encountered a land mine in two decades of living here, but I may have just been lucky (there was that one time the neighbor’s cat left something in our driveway, and my family all stepped in it on the way to church, but I don’t think that counts).

True, various munitions have indeed played a role in West Virginia history. Besides being birthed in the Civil War, the state has seen several mining-related conflicts, the most spectacular of which involved the Logan County sheriff hiring planes to air-bomb striking miners in 1921 (yes, really). At least one unexploded bomb was recovered and used as evidence in the miners’ subsequent trial.

Despite this explosive history, however, there’s no evidence that West Virginia is currently teeming — or has ever teemed — with minefields. There certainly aren’t enough land mines around here to create even one minesweeping job. Frankly, I doubt there are enough to make minesweeping into a decent hobby.

A day of reckoning.

As for Ms. Greene, Democrats are trying to make her the face of the GOP after stories have emerged that she bathes in internet misinformation. The news last week was a Facebook post from 2018 in which she speculated that California’s wildfires were really started by a space laser. Somehow the Rothschilds were involved.

She has promoted the QAnon nonsense and called Mr. Trump the right leader to defeat “this global cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles.” She has said there’s no evidence a plane hit the Pentagon on 9/11 and suggested the 2018 Parkland, Fla., school shooting was a false-flag event.

Ms. Greene somehow won a crowded primary, then a runoff, in her heavily GOP district. But it’s not clear how tuned-in many Georgians were to her wilder views. John Cowan, the Republican she beat, recently said voters wanted a flamethrower. Now, he added, “A lot of people call me and say, ‘Wow, we didn’t know she was really going to be this way!’” Mr. Cowan could have used more help from the rest of the party.

But Ms. Greene won, and she deserves to be judged on how she handles herself in office. Democrats also have their share of cranks in the ranks. “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel,” Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar once wrote. After being elected, she explained her view of why Congress backs Israel: “It’s all about the Benjamins baby.”

California Rep. Maxine Waters urged people to harass Trump Administration officials at restaurants or gas stations, and she now runs the Financial Services Committee. The point is that ousting a Member of Congress has usually been left to the voters, with the exception of criminal behavior.

The House GOP could deny Ms. Greene committee assignments, as it did with former Iowa Rep. Steve King in 2019. But Mr. King had spent years in Congress making noxious racially tinged statements. Iowa voters defeated him in a primary. Ms. Greene has been in the House for only a month. Mr. McCarthy’s best option for now might be to warn her about future comments and behavior, and if she crosses a line he can then strip her of committee slots. Voters in her district will get another chance in 2022, and Georgia Republicans could also reconfigure her district based on the 2020 Census.

Congress has had many oddballs over the decades, but in our social-media age the opposition will try to turn the words of even a single Member against the whole party. That’s the GOP’s Marjorie Taylor Greene problem. Congress today also has many Members like Mr. Gaetz, who view the House as a platform for their personal political brand rather than a place to legislate.

The main goal of the House minority is to become the majority, and in 2022 Republicans should have an excellent chance. But they’ll squander it if they purge serious Members like Liz Cheney and let themselves be defined by conspiracy theorists and Parkland truthers.

Brian Sicknick was a Trump-supporting U.S. Capitol Police officer and military veteran who has died of injuries suffered during a pro-Trump riot on January 6, 2021, at the Capitol building, authorities say. Sicknick was injured while “physically engaging” with rioters, the U.S. Capitol Police Department said in a statement. He died at 9:30 p.m. on January 7, the department said.

There is a graphic video circulating that some believe shows the mob beating Officer Sicknick. However, that video turned out to not be Sicknick. An Arkansas man named Peter Stager now stands accused by authorities of being the man beating that other officer with a flagpole. He says he thought the officer was Antifa, the complaint says.

Heavy found a Twitter account in Sicknick’s name. It indicates that he was a Donald Trump supporter; the cover photo is Trump’s plane. The account has been temporarily restricted for “unusual activity.” On Facebook, his cover photo is of an American flag.

Yesterday

President Biden told Senate Democrats at a virtual lunch on Tuesday that Republicans' current $618 billion coronavirus relief proposal is "too small," but he wants to continue working toward a compromise and is willing to bend on the final price, a source on the call tells Axios.

Why it matters: Biden made clear he is not giving up on finding a bipartisan path to passing stimulus legislation, despite many Democrats urging him to use the budget reconciliation process to bypass the GOP. He also said that the White House has red lines that they're unwilling to budge on, including the salary minimums for receiving stimulus checks.

Sleepy Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. campaigned as a moderate. He pledged to be a president “for all Americans,” promising “unity” and an end to the acrimony of the Donald Trump years. He has abandoned those pledges in office, however. On Monday, after meeting with a bipartisan group of senators who presented an alternate COVID-19 relief bill, Biden rejected the effort.

White House dimwit Press Secretary Jen Psaki suggested that Biden rejected the alternate bill because it did not provide enough relief for Americans struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Psaki said that Biden agreed with the senators in part, but he “also reiterated his view that Congress must respond boldly and urgently, and noted many areas which the Republican senators’ proposal does not address.”

2 California supermarkets closing after city orders pay hike
Updated Tue, February 2, 2021, 9:24 PM
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Kroger Co. will close two Southern California supermarkets in response to a local ordinance requiring extra pay for certain grocery employees working during the pandemic.

The decision announced by the company Monday follows a unanimous vote last month by the Long Beach City Council mandating a 120-day increase of $4 an hour for employees of supermarkets with at least 300 employees nationwide and more than 15 in Long Beach.

Kroger said it will close a Ralphs market and a Food 4 Less on April 17, the Press-Telegram reported.

“As a result of the City of Long Beach’s decision to pass an ordinance mandating Extra Pay for grocery workers, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close long-struggling store locations in Long Beach,” the company said in a statement.

Biden energy ban an economic hammer to Colorado

Well, for Colorado, it’s an economic hammer. The financial impact is staggering.

For starters, the state will lose a projected $35.5 billion in Gross Domestic Product over the next 20 years. The immediate impact is just as drastic.

Between 2021-2024, Biden’s leasing ban will eliminate 5,172 jobs annually, wipe out $2.8 billion in oil and natural gas investments, $1.3 billion in production, $546 million in much-needed tax revenue and a whopping $1.6 billion in high-paying wages.

Colorado’s neighbors to the north and south face similar threats from President Biden’s ban.

As the fifth-largest oil and natural gas-producing state, New Mexico extracts nearly half of its oil and 67% of its natural gas from leases on federal lands. Before the pandemic, tax revenue generated from oil and production overall comprised 20% of the state’s budget. With 62,000 jobs at stake, a federal leasing ban will be catastrophic for one of the country’s most poverty-stricken states.

President Biden said during a call with House Democrats on Wednesday that he is committed to boosting stimulus checks to $2,000 by giving most Americans another $1,400 in direct payments in a new round of coronavirus relief.

However, Biden did crack the door open to tightening income restrictions on which Americans are eligible to receive the checks. Under the relief package passed by Congress late last year, individuals making less than $75,000 and couples making less than $150,000 received the full $600 payment.

“We can’t walk away from an additional $1,400 in direct checks that we proposed because the people need them,” Biden told Democrats, according to a source on the call.

“We can better target them,” he said, “but I’m not going to start my administration by breaking a promise to the American people.”

He took no questions during the five-minute call, but urged House Democrats to “go big, not small” on a new COVID-19 relief package — the first major legislative push of his presidency.

Biden also called on Democrats to stick together as they sell his nearly $2 trillion stimulus plan to the American people, and he made clear that shifting toward the $618 billion plan offered by 10 GOP senators was “not in the cards.”

"I'll have your back. I ask that you have mine,” Biden said.

The president was expected to huddle with Senate Democrats at the White House later Wednesday to build support for his $1.9 trillion health and economic relief package, dubbed the American Rescue Plan.

It addition to the bigger stimulus checks, Biden’s proposal includes $400 billion for more vaccines, testing and other measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic and to help reopen schools; $350 billion for cities, states and tribal governments; billions more for small businesses, rental assistance and increasing unemployment insurance; and raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.

House and Senate Democrats are expected to pass a budget resolution this week that would give them the ability later this month to pass a massive COVID-19 package through the Senate with just a simple majority. That will be crucial given the Senate’s 50-50 split.

Biden to discuss relief bill with House, Senate DemocratsBiden, Yellen to brief Senate Democrats Tuesday

While Biden’s stimulus plan is expected to cruise through the House, it is already facing some hurdles in the Senate, where Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is opposing the minimum wage hike.

“If the package includes a minimum wage, I suspect Manchin is a hard no. I also expect more targeted direct checks,” said one moderate House Democrat. “Other than that, I don’t see anything stopping the package from moving through [the Congress] rather seamlessly.”

Updated at 11:42 a.m.

Senator Manchin is under pressure from the Republican governor of West Virginia to support the President and the minimum wage increases.

If he refuses to vote for the bill, the President would only need one Republican vote, and my guess is that Mitt Romney would continue to be a true patriot.
