Liberals turning on each other!

How The White House Botched The Neera Tanden Nomination
At the time her nomination was announced, Democrats didn’t even control the Senate and Tanden’s history of sharp-elbowed politics and highly personal Twitter attacks had made her enemies on the left and right. But Biden and his team, headed by White House chief of staff Ron Klain, felt strongly that they could sway Republicans to back her. When Democrats won the runoffs in Georgia, their gamble looked more prescient.
Biden and his aides insist that Tanden’s prospects are not doomed. But her fate now hinges on Sen. Lisa Murkowski swooping in to save the nomination. Even if the independent-minded Alaska Republican were to do that, the saga would still mark one of the biggest missteps of Biden’s still-young presidency, one that raises questions about the White House’s political acumen and its ability to manage relations on the Hill. The president himself on Tuesday seemed to accept that the Tanden nom could end in defeat.
But those bets weren’t supplemented by an aggressive lobbying effort on Tanden’s behalf. One senior Democratic Senate staffer complained that even early on in her confirmation fight, the White House was lackluster in its advocacy for her and tone-deaf to the chillier reception she was getting on the Hill. There were questions about how many champions she even had at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

I think the term "lackluster" is one many Americans probably believe fits Joe Biden and his efforts so far. Love him or hate him, President Trump was a passionate fighter who would never back down on something he believed in. With Biden, one is uncertain exactly what he believes in (other than trying to revert everything back to how things were under Obama). Even that mundane strategy seems rather haphazard and muddled.

At this point Joe Biden has mostly played Mario Cart, put a lid on his days before noon, and attempted to blatantly lie about the Trump Covid response while taking credit for what Trump had already put in place. While Trump had no honeymoon period, Joe Biden's honeymoon looks to be coming to a swift end. At this point it is time for Dementia Joe to step up and do "something" Presidential, before everyone starts to just discount him.

Either way, this is not just conservative criticism right now. Liberals are also concerned with Biden and he has been criticized by both the far left (Ocasio-Cortez) as well as moderates (Joe Manchin). Seems he is facing a difficult task of threading the political needle of a Liberal electorate and Democratic Congress that is quite literally all over the place politically, socially, and even morally. As of now, he has not shown that he can even pick up the needle and thread, much less get the thread through that little eye on the needle.

I predict that sometime in his term, he'll have VP Harris give the SOTU and the media will proclaim it as wonderfully historic.

He'll have to. He can't have Jill read half of it.

He's going to succeed, despite minor divisions between center and left wing Democrats.

While Ted Cruz was getting clobbered for fleeing Texas amid its historic winter storm, the Democrat he defeated in 2018, Beto O’Rourke, was already deep into disaster relief mode — soliciting donations for storm victims, delivering pallets of water from his pickup truck and once again broadcasting his movements on Facebook Live.

It was part of an effort orchestrated by O’Rourke and his organization, Powered by People, in response to the crisis. It was also, to Texas Democrats, a sign that O’Rourke the politician is back.

following up on what MB said Biden hasn't even mentioned a SOTU address yet.

It's way past his bedtime.

And he isn't getting any younger, despite playing games for 6 year-olds.

Why Neera Tanden’s Nomination Hasn’t Been Pulled Yet

10:04 am Taegan Goddard cites
CNN:
The White House has not yet pulled Neera Tanden’s nomination to be budget director because officials are still not sure whether Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) will support her confirmation.

If Sinema won’t support Tanden, her nomination is dead. But if Sinema does support Tanden, then there’s still a chance Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) could be persuaded to back her too.

Progressives Urge Letitia James to Primary Cuomo
Axios:
“New York Democratic strategists, operatives and progressives are viewing state Attorney General Letitia James (D) as an appealing primary challenger to Gov. Andrew Cuomo

“Her bombshell report about how the coronavirus rocked New York’s nursing homes focused on the issue Cuomo rode to a heightened national profile during the past year. James also has targeted Donald Trump with an investigation into his real estate empire, as well as Facebook, Google and the National Rifle Association.”

Why Georgia Went Blue
Taegan Goddard cites:
A new NBC News analysis of presidential results in every county in the U.S. finds that
“three Atlanta-area suburban Georgia counties — Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale — increased their Democratic vote share between 2008 and 2020 by more than any other counties in the country.”

In Gwinnett, Barack Obama won 44.5% of the vote in 2008, while Biden won 58.4% in 2020.

In Henry, Obama won 45.9% in 2008, while Biden won 59.7% in 2020.

And in Rockdale, Obama won 54.4% in 2008, while Biden won 69.9% in 2020.

“What’s more, seven of the eight counties that saw the largest increase in Democratic vote share across the entire country just happen to be in Georgia. And all of Georgia’s 10 most populous counties saw an increase in Democratic vote share from 2008-2020.”

SO THE ELECTION WAS NOT STOLEN.

Sewell Considers Senate Bid In Alabama

Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL) said she expects to make a decision “very soon” about whether she will run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Republican Richard Shelby in 2022, The 19th reports.

“Sewell is the first Black woman elected to Congress from Alabama and the only Democrat in the state’s House delegation.”

Should Trump Sell His Businesses?
Washington Post:
“Some of Trump’s businesses are now in crisis, facing sharp drops in revenue and an exodus of clients, lenders, lawyers and business partners. Now, sharks are circling.

“The Washington Post spoke with four investors who said they are exploring efforts to buy Trump’s properties or the loans he has taken out on them. They believe Trump has fatally wounded his brand — a view shared by some independent analysts — and they are hoping he will cut his losses by selling them luxe properties for cheap.”

Said one investor:
“The first thing you do is you take the Trump name off them [LOL]
— which, by the way, could be a multiple-week effort, because it’s on everything.
Once it’s gone, it’s a competitive asset.”

Well Rog...

I find it amazing that the best "response" so far has apparently come from a former failed politician, rather than those "responses" being led by our Commander in Chief and leader of the free world.

I guess I am not sure how Beto and others there can set up this sort of thing without "getting in the way". Because according to Biden, a big Federal response and his personal involvement would just be a distraction and get in the way... and according to you, this was a perfectly acceptable excuse for him to ignore Texas.

Again, I don't recall the left blaming any local politicians for the problems with the Katrina aftermath even though it was the local politicians who were responsible for the levee, the local politicians responsible for the evacuations that never took place, etc, etc...

Nope, because the President was a Republican and most of the local politicians were Democrats... it was obviously the President's fault.

The Republican party is being destroyed from within. It is divided by the former cult leader and the true conservative Republicans like the daughter of former Vice President Cheney.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) told her fellow Republicans on Tuesday that they must "ignore the temptation to look away" and make it "clear that we aren't the party of white supremacy." The insureccenists were white supremacist groups that Scott loves.

Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, made her plea during an event hosted by the Reagan Institute. I voted for Reagan When supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, "you certainly saw anti-Semitism," Cheney said. "You saw the symbols of Holocaust denial ... you saw a Confederate flag being carried through the rotunda. We, as Republicans in particular, have a duty and an obligation to stand against that, to stand against insurrection." She is one of the few House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump last month, on a charge of incitement of insurrection.

When the economy reaches pre pandemic levels, Scott asshole will declare the former was responsible for the vaccine speed and the economic recovery.

He spent three years saying that the former President Obama deserved any credit despite the fact that the last year and a half of the Obama administration created more jobs than the former administration created in three years.

Texas’s deregulated electricity market, which was supposed to provide reliable power at a lower price, left millions in the dark last week. For two decades, its customers have paid more for electricity than state residents who are served by traditional utilities, a Wall Street Journal analysis has found.

Nearly 20 years ago, Texas shifted from using full-service regulated utilities to generate power and deliver it to consumers. The state deregulated power generation, creating the system that failed last week. And it required nearly 60% of consumers to buy their electricity from one of many retail power companies, rather than a local utility.

Why hasn't he invoked the emergency production act yet?

Doesn't he realize this is an EMERGENCY and people are dying ???

The issue with Texas was that the Federal Government controls how much of the grids can be fossil fuels and how much of the grids must be from Green power sources.

First, the Administration denied the request for Texas to increase their fossil fuel output, then they eventually agreed, but only under the terms that Texas pay a surcharge for the additional fossil fuel.

So the issue is not about "deregulation" as much as that is being hyped. It's about regulation, specifically green energy regulation and the Government manipulating things to make fossil fuel more expensive.

By the time you are 80, we will use almost zero percentage of fossil fuels.

The 21st century New Deal will move forward without fossil fuels.

A New Green Deal reconstruction plan will create millions of union jobs. It's not the CCC civilian construction corps of FDR. My father Ivan, actually worked for them in the Black Hills of South Dakota. They built several dams on the small rivers, like Sheridan Lake. You have probably seen that because you said you have traveled there.

Senator Bernie Sanders and a couple others are working on an infrastructure plan. The former promised that, but because of your love for him, made you the former coldheartedtruth.

They will probably use the same reconciliation procedure to avoid a filibuster.

The Democratic senator from West Virginia has a lot of power, so it's not going to be easy.
