While the White House termed Biden’s discussion with 10 Republicans who pitched a downsized relief effort as “productive,” the Democratic president told the senators their plan did not go far enough. Biden told the group “that he will not slow down work on this urgent crisis response, and will not settle for a package that fails to meet the moment,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. The Republicans who attended the meeting are pushing a COVID-19 relief proposal about one third the size of Biden’s.
To be clear, the Democrats currently do not have 50 votes for the plan as it stands. Joe Manchin is on record as rejecting portions of the bill, and other portions of the bill will "not" be able to be passed through "reconciliation" as suggested by Chuck Schumer.
So it's simply impossible for the bill (as it is written) to pass the Senate and be signed by Biden. So why would Biden reject the possibility that he could get 10 Republicans on board with something? Does he not understand that the leverage here is not necessarily on his side? What is the political plan here? Is it to attempt to not pass anything and "blame" Republicans?
If Biden won't reach across the aisle when it appears that he must, then how can anyone suggest that he ever took his campaign promises to do so seriously?

everything *Biden has done so far has been out of spite. 10K Keystone jobs are toast for no other reason than because he could. This "administration" has no intention of compromising on anything ever. They're so arrogant they sent Willie Brown's side piece to WV with no consideration of political protocol and professionalism, with that fucking whore thinking she could strong-arm Manchin.
these are rank amateurs recycled from team 0linsky who think they'll always be the smartest people in every room. it's the same arrogance, only this time with an aging dementia patient in the big chair instead of a marxist shit-stirrer.
Scott, in the current situation since the Republicans won't walk away from the ex President, the President and the Senate majority have to use the same thing as the ex President to use reconciliation and pass the recovery plan with a majority vote.
He might have discussions with the Senator from West Virginia on the minimum wage increases.
team Olinski moron
Unilateral Joe Biden .
Death of the BIG Lie of "unity".
"Unity also is trying to get, at a minimum — if you pass a piece of legislation that breaks down on party lines but it gets passed, it doesn't mean there wasn't unity; it just means it wasn't bipartisan."
Actually it's the democrats who won't walk away from an ex-president, Obama, and have installed a shell president who doesn't negotiate, just sign executive orders. Why all the money to foreigners ???
How long until a major war breaks out ???
How long until Harris assumes her role for Obama ???

The Biden dark side economics are quite different, because they look great news robotics
Real GDP expands rapidly over the coming year, reaching its previous peak in mid-2021 and surpassing its potential level in early 2025....Labor market conditions continue to improve. As the economy expands, many people rejoin the civilian labor force who had left it during the pandemic, restoring it to its prepandemic size in 2022.One year from now. The unemployment rate gradually declines throughout the period, and the number of people employed returns to its prepandemic level in 2024.
If the economy returns to the same level as before the covid-19 pandemic under the ex President, Scott will continue to declare he's a failure.
Why must you post the same stupid blather on multiple threads. Are you that desperate for attention?
He might have discussions with the Senator from West Virginia on the minimum wage increases.
he already has, dimwit. and Manchin has his heels dug in at $11, NOT $15.
try reading instead of spamming every thread with your same fucking bullshit.
Cali's right. you're like an attention-starved 12 yr old girl.

President Biden on Thursday will announce an end to U.S. support for offensive operations in Yemen, where a brutal civil war has resulted in one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said at a press briefing.
Why it matters: Pulling support for the war in Yemen was one of Biden's top foreign policy campaign promises. It marks a significant reversal from U.S. policy under former President Trump, who vetoed bipartisan resolutions passed by Congress that called for the U.S. to stop providing weapons to the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
Between the lines: It's unclear what kinds of support the Biden administration will continue to provide to Saudi Arabia, a U.S. ally that led the 2015 intervention in Yemen against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels that toppled the pro-Saudi government in Sana'a.
Sullivan said Thursday that the halt in support will include suspending two arms sales of precision-guided munitions that had been signed off on by the Trump administration.
He added that the suspension does not apply to U.S. actions against Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, and that Biden would announce a special envoy for Yemen later on Thursday as part of a strategy to play a "more active, engaged role in diplomacy to bring an end to the conflict."
What they're saying: "We have spoken with both senior officials in the UAE and senior officials in Saudi Arabia," Sullivan said. "We have consulted with them. We are pursuing a policy of no surprises when it comes to these types of actions so they understand that this is happening and they understand our reasoning and rationale for it."

Have you looked at the list of Republican Senators who visited Biden?
Romney, Murkowski, Collins, Portman, etc... are not Trump loyalists. Using the "Trump, Trump, Trump" excuse is silly to begin with. But certainly to demand that you think Biden should reject Murkowski, Romney and Senators like that over Trump would be even sillier.
Trump is no longer President. Stop the obsession.
Trump is no longer President. Stop the obsession.
What else is he going to do?
If the economy returns to the same level as before the covid-19 pandemic under the ex President, Scott will continue to declare he's a failure.
Well we had a National unemployment rate of 3.5 to 3.6 percent that has been running on for 7-8 months prior to Covid.
If we get back to that rate, I will give everyone involved credit.
Trump is no longer President. Stop the obsession.
roger is a one-room pony
They represent a minority of Republicans in the country.
And I have to say it again. You won't blame the ex President for mishandling the pandemic, so you can blame the new President for the death rate. If you could step back and look at the past and learn from it.
In six months I will be surprised if you give Biden any credit

If the Democrats hold the vote on the recovery plan using reconciliation, I hope that a few Republicans will vote for the bill.
If it happens, I will be happy, because it would be a change back to normality.
Ronald Reagan had weekly meetings with Democrats and Republicans. Although I don't agree with his policies, it is how our country was designed to work.
The Senate will not convict the ex President. But if 10-12 Republicans vote to convict, it is a good thing.
If the Democrats hold the vote on the recovery plan using reconciliation, I hope that a few Republicans will vote for the bill.
Most of that Bill isn't eligible for reconciliation. You cannot alter the minimum wage or other non-budgetary issues with reconciliation. They may not even be able to justify the $2000 - er, I mean $1400 - payment through reconciliation.
Off topic.
Trump created the largest deficit in history. Because of his tax cuts that made the rich richer.
The Republicans can't block anything, because they can't filibuster the vote on the floor of the Senate.
Richard Nixon signed the bill allowing a reconciliation procedure.
Unless the Republicans try to submit to the Supreme Court and get an immediate response, it will be implemented when President Biden signs the bill.
If the Republicans try to repeal the minimum wage increases, it will cost millions of votes in the suburbs again and again.
And I have to say it again. You won't blame the ex President for mishandling the pandemic...
you dumb fuck.
the fucking vaccine that you crave and that *Biden is desperate to take credit for was PROMISED and DELIVERED by the end of 2020 by TRUMP.
so shut the fuck up about Trump's covid non-existent "failures" you fucking HACK.

See you are still obsessing about Trump but fyi Biden has now created the largest deficit in history.
And he's barely begun
But Biden's family is doing GREAT !!!
You going to buy Hunters book?
Amazing how "popular" he is.
Lap dances on the house !!!
You won't blame the ex President for mishandling the pandemic
Since both Trump and Biden had followed or are basically following the same path, as well as the same basic advisors - then I guess either they both are responsible for "mishandling" or neither has "mishandled".
I don't believe that Biden has done anything "wrong".
In fact, from what everyone close is saying, there hasn't been much change.
I am simply being consistent.
If Trump was being blamed for a virus that originated in China then Biden can be blamed as well. Fair is fair!
Biden wasn't in office when the "Chinese virus" appeared in January.
Fair is fair and again you lost the argument. Lolololololololololol
Congress has passed more than 20 budget reconciliation bills since 1980, including deficit-reduction packages during the 1980s and 1990s, welfare reform in 1996, parts of the Affordable Care Act in 2010 and President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax-cut law. that increased the federal deficit in history.
You going to buy Hunters book?

Changing the subject, but
MEANWHILE,
CNN:
Trump Has Been Asked to Testify at Impeachment Trial
1:15 pm
House impeachment manager Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has sent a letter to former President Donald Trump requesting he testify under oath “either before or during the Senate impeachment trial about his conduct on January 6,” CNN reports.
Writes Raskin:
“You denied many factual allegations set forth in the article of impeachment. You have thus attempted to put critical facts at issue.”
WONDER WHERE THIS WILL GO?

"In six months I will be surprised if you give Biden any credit" Roger
No Roger no moving your goal posts.
You said in "The first 100 days".
Read the letter from lead House impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin:
Dear President Trump,
As you are aware, the United States House of Representatives has approved an article of impeachment against you for incitement of insurrection. See H. Res. 24. The Senate trial for this article of impeachment will begin on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. See S. Res.
Two days ago, you filed an Answer in which you denied many factual allegations set forth in the article of impeachment. You have thus attempted to put critical facts at issue notwithstanding the clear and overwhelming evidence of your constitutional offense. In light of your disputing these factual allegations, I write to invite you to provide testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, concerning your conduct on January 6, 2021. We would propose that you provide your testimony (of course including cross-examination) as early as Monday, February 8, 2021, and not later than Thursday, February 11, 2021. We would be pleased to arrange such testimony at a mutually convenient time and place.
Presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton both provided testimony while in office—and the Supreme Court held just last year that you were not immune from legal process while serving as President—so there is no doubt that you can testify in these proceedings. Indeed, whereas a sitting President might raise concerns about distraction from their official duties, that concern is obviously inapplicable here. We therefore anticipate your availability to testify.
If you decline this invitation, we reserve any and all rights, including the right to establish at trial that your refusal to testify supports a strong adverse inference regarding your actions (and inaction) on January 6, 2021.
I would request that you respond to this letter by no later than Friday, February 5, 2021 at 5pm. I look forward to your response and to your testimony.
Very truly yours,
Jamie Raskin
Lead Impeachment Manager
Roger predicted that the US will have 31 million small businesses by April, 30, 2021.
in terms of sheer comedic value, Jamie Raskin is arguably the biggest fucking asshat in the house. I am so glad Peloshee made him the lead asshat on the impeachment fiasco.
Biden wasn't in office when the "Chinese virus" appeared in January.
Neither Trump or Biden were in a Chinese office when that virus escaped from a Chinese lab. So neither are responsible for the virus being created.
So if Trump was "responsible" for deaths of a virus he didn't create, then so is Biden. You cannot have it both ways.
