Governor Cuomo refuses to resign - putting Democrats in a bind

 If Cuomo was Republican, he would already be gone

We are now up to four women who have made allegations of some sort of sexual harassments against Cuomo. These range from an unwanted touch on the back in a public place to some innuendoes by Cuomo that were taken as sexual solicitation. None of them (from a singular point of view) seem overwhelmingly devastating. He isn't accused of sexual touching, exposing himself, demanding sex in exchange for some political favor, or anything that would rise to the normal levels of sexual harassment from a legal standpoint.

What we have is a growing reality that some women felt uncomfortable around Governor Cuomo. Whether this should or shouldn't be grounds to end his political career is a question that would be much different had it been asked during a different era. President Clinton got his knob polished in the White House by a 20 year old intern whom he helped find employment. He was also sued by (and settled with) another women who said she refused similar sexual demands only to be demoted. He was "more" popular after all of this was exposed (no pun intended). But it is now 2021 and the hypersensitive nature of our population (especially liberals and Democrats) obviously changes everything.

On top of all of this, Cuomo is under investigation for his handling of the Covid pandemic specific to nursing homes. He made some obvious poor choices and then worked to cover his tracks by falsifying data provided to the CDC and Federal Government. Again, whether this (in and of itself) is the sort of crime that would generally sink a politician is a point of dispute. But because it is Covid and because it is 2021, we have to treat it with the utmost seriousness.

Either way, it's difficult for liberals to get a handle on exactly what to do here. Just a few months ago, Cuomo was seen as a rising star with possible future Presidential asperations. Now many want him to simply go away. Yet, his popularity within Democrats from New York remains stable, especially with minorities. According to those in the loop, there is no intention for Cuomo to voluntarily resign and little chance that he will be recalled. He might even run for reelection if he can weather the storm.

This puts Democrats into a bit of a bind. Do they stand behind someone who might still fill a prominent role in their Party, or do they throw him to the wolves.
