GOP Sen. Johnson says Capitol rioters didn’t scare him — but might have had they been Black Lives Matter protesters

Several Democrats have called on Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) to step down after he said he didn’t feel threatened in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol — but would have been concerned if the mob had been made up of Black Lives Matter or antifa protesters.
In an interview Thursday on “The Joe Pags Show,” a conservative news radio show, Johnson said he “never felt threatened” by the pro-Trump mob that overran the Capitol on Jan. 6 hoping to overturn the results of the election.

Shortly after four Louisiana State Police troopers allegedly beat a Black man who had surrendered following a high-speed chase, the officers of Troop F sent 14 text messages to brag about the “whoopin’ ” they had given to 29-year-old Antonio Harris, according to court filings.
“He gonna be sore tomorrow for sure,” trooper Jacob Brown group-texted his colleagues in May, the filings allege.
“He’s gonna have nightmares for a long time,” trooper Dakota DeMoss allegedly said of what unfolded in Franklin Parish, La.
“Warms my heart knowing we could educate that young man,” Brown replied.
The court filings from earlier this month, which were first reported by Sound Off Louisiana, come weeks after four White officers — Brown, DeMoss, George Harper and Randall Dickerson — were arrested on accusations of excessive force, lying about multiple arrests and turning off their body cameras.
Brown, 30, who faces charges in two other excessive force cases, resigned on Wednesday. DeMoss, 28, and Harper, 26, were placed on administrative leave after an internal investigation concluded that Harris was beaten after he “immediately surrendered.”

Sleepy Joe knew what he was doing before we did!

Last year, as he steamrolled his way to victory in the Democratic presidential primaries, Joe Biden told CNN that the pandemic was “probably the biggest challenge in modern history, quite frankly.”

“I think it may not dwarf but eclipse what F.D.R. faced,” he added.

Biden referred to Franklin Roosevelt again in an interview with Evan Osnos of The New Yorker. “I’m kind of in the position F.D.R. was,” he said.

And a week before the election, Biden gave a speech at Roosevelt’s winter White House in Warm Springs, Ga., where he promised to “overcome a devastating virus” and “heal a suffering world.”

In other words, Biden telegraphed his F.D.R.-size ambition throughout the year. And the first major bill of his administration is in fact an F.D.R.-size piece of legislation.

In addition to hundreds of billions of dollars in direct payments to most American families, the American Rescue Plan — passed without a single Republican vote in either the House or the Senate — extends federal unemployment benefits until Sept. 6 and makes the first $10,200 of those benefits nontaxable for households with incomes under $150,000 a year. It includes an extra $7.25 billion in small business loans; a $25 billion fund for “food and drinking establishments”; and more than $50 billion in transportation funding, including billions for transit. It provides $25 billion in emergency rental and housing assistance to keep Americans in their homes and off the streets. There are also billions of dollars in funding for personal protective equipment and the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.

If Biden were just signing a bill to assist the public and end the pandemic, it would be a substantial accomplishment, if not quite an F.D.R.-size one. But there is more to the package than just relief; it also allocates hundreds of billions of dollars to sweeping reforms to the social safety net.

Welcome back America!

Right-wing figures are claiming George Floyd died of a drug overdose, rather than police restraint.

There were two autopsies. Neither blamed an overdose, but one said drugs may be an underlying factor.

The jury selection for the trial of police officer Derek Chauvin is underway.

Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

Conservative stars like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens keep claiming that George Floyd wasn't killed by the police officer who knelt on his neck, but by drugs.

Floyd was killed in Minneapolis in May 2020 after the police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for several minutes. His death prompted months of protests against police brutality around the US, as well as around the world.

Widely-circulated footage showed Chauvin pinning Floyd's neck with his knee, and Floyd saying "I can't breathe" and calling for his mother.

Two autopsies were done after Floyd's death, with neither saying that he died of a drug overdose - though they both found different causes of death.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office's autopsy said that Floyd was killed in a homicide, and that the main cause of his death was "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law-enforcement subdual restraint, and neck compression" that occurred while he was being restrained by an officer.

It said that heart issues, fentanyl intoxication, and recent methamphetamine were underlying conditions that likely contributed to his death, but not as big of a role.

An independent autopsy ordered by Floyd's family also concluded that he died of asphyxiation. It ruled his death a homicide.

Red States are going to get more help than blue states in the Sleepy Joe Biden covid-19 pandemic recovery bill.

Inside the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package President Biden signed on Thursday is a huge, much-needed boost for the child care industry.

Almost $25 billion is going toward child care providers and centers, and an additional $15 billion will go toward helping families get access to child care.

The child care system has taken a huge financial hit during the pandemic — between slashed budgets and lost income from shutdown-enforced closures.

Child care centers and after-school programs are overwhelmingly run by women — disproportionately Black and Latina women — many of whom live below the poverty line. And the parents, especially single parents — the majority of whom are women — dependent on that care are losing out. Child care demands are a big reason why women are leaving the workforce at startling rates.

Carol Burnett, who advocates for child care centers as executive director of the Mississippi Low-Income Child Care Initiative, called the money "a game changer" for mothers in a state that has among the country's highest concentrations of poverty.

"The moms that we work with — whether they're trying to get out of a domestic violence situation, to move to economic security, whether they're trying to get out of poverty, whether they're trying to get out of a job where there is no pathway to higher income above minimum wage — child care is the support service that they most need and making child care affordable for them," Burnett told NPR's Weekend Edition.

The funds that will be going to the state's child care programs, she said, are enough for Mississippi to serve 80% of children who qualify for support — a dramatic jump from the roughly 28% of children she said are currently served.

"It's an opportunity that has never come along before," Burnett said.

The following interview excerpts have been edited for length and clarity.

What has the effect of the pandemic been on child care centers?

It's just been a really hard year for child care centers. At first, during the shutdown, they were all closed. The moms they served — many of them were essential workers, even though they were low-wage workers. And so, they still needed child care.

Senators really had to open as quickly as they could, but they had higher labor costs because they needed to have more staff, to have smaller group sizes with children. They had to accomplish social distancing. They had to do more sanitizing. They needed PPE equipment. So, their costs were rising.

And, you know, people in the child care industry are also very excited about the expansion of the child tax credit — and it expands which families will be able to take advantage of it.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Oh, yes. I mean, Mississippi has the highest child poverty rate of any state. We have the highest women's poverty rate of any state. The promise that this is going to bring about poverty reduction means a tremendous amount for the very families that we work with.

Let me ask you, it's a lot of money — and a lot of money coming very quickly. Do you think you'll have the capacity to stand up all the things that you'll need to stand up?

Oh, absolutely. The reach of the program is so limited compared with the need. Our organization has a project called Employment Equity for Single Moms, where we offer moms both child care and access to getting into jobs that pay higher wages. Because we know being stuck in a low-wage job is not a way to achieve economic security. And we have hundreds of moms who have contacted us who need child care assistance. We hear from child care centers that have parents who qualify but can't get on to the program because the funds are not adequate. So, we know that with these funds we'll be able to serve more families who need this assistance and will benefit from it.

NPR's Sophia Boyd and Barrie Hardymon produced and edited this interview for broadcast.

Instead of giving billions to the top one percent, this the way the country should move forward

a LIE.

on paper, red states appear to do a little better in one specific category - child care.

taken as a whole, blue states cash in BIGLY, at the expense of red states.

Analysis: Urban states come out ahead, rural states get less in Biden's COVID-19 relief bill

States like mine - NY - were already so poorly managed we were $60 BILLION in the hole BEFORE covid. And now we'll enjoy a nice chunk of bail-out $$$ that I guaran-fucking-tee you we will find a way to piss away instead of using it to shore up our deficits. Our state budget is due on April 1. Thanks to Killer Cuomo and his asshattery, expect that to be delayed by several weeks.

One of the few African American politicians is not going to run for the Senate because the former has control of the Republican party.

Georgia's lieutenant governor announced on Sunday that he will not challenge Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) for one of the state's Senate seats next year.

Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R) told NBC's "Meet the Press" that he would not seek to recapture the seat for the GOP while also distancing himself from the so called "Trump wing" of the GOP.

“My family and I have talked about it, and we’re not going to run for the U.S. Senate seat. We’re going to stay focused on being the lieutenant governor here in Georgia and we are going to focus hard on trying to rebuild this party and refocus GOP 2.0,”

"Donald Trump's divisive tone and strategy in unwinnable in forward-looking elections. We need real leadership," he added.

Duncan added that a number of Republican-supported bills in the Georgia legislature that would end no-excuse absentee ballot voting and limit early voting were "solutions in search of a problem." Republicans have made repeated unproven claims about mail-in voting being rife with fraud.

"Republicans don’t need election reform to win, we need leadership," Duncan said, adding: "I'm one of the Republicans that want more people to vote. I think our ideas help people."

Funny how the trump fucks now find religion after ruining the country with massive debt!!!!

Mary Papenfuss·
Fri, March 12, 2021, 7:34 PM
Former White House economic adviser and current Fox News host Larry Kudlow got the Chris Wallace treatment Friday after complaining about President Joe Biden increasing the government deficit to provide COVID-19 relief.

“Larry Kudlow, when he was working in the Trump White House and passing huge tax cuts and huge spending plans — including multi-trillion-dollar bills for COVID relief — there wasn’t so much concern about deficit and debt,” noted Wallace, now Kudlow’s colleague on Fox News. “He seems to have found religion — now that he’s back out of the government.”

Wallace noted on Fox’s “America Reports” that “on deficits and debt, it’s so interesting when people are out of office, they’re very concerned about them, but when they’re in office, they’re not so concerned.”

Kudlow ripped the expense of Biden’s coronavirus relief bill on Thursday and claimed that “behind this bill, there is going to be a so-called infrastructure bill. In that infrastructure bill, which could run [up to] $6 trillion, there’s going to be a big Green New Deal. I call it green socialism ... which will kill our economy.”

Wallace noted that Kudlow is speculating about costs and legislation that have yet to be seen.

In any case, Kudlow shrugged off a record $22.5 trillion national debt in 2019, calling it not a “huge problem,” and “quite manageable.” (It’s now over $28 trillion.)

When Kudlow was in the Trump administration, federal costs soared and revenue plunged even prior to the pandemic, due to the $1.5 trillion Trump administration tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, whose tax rates were slashed from 35% to 21%.

This is why the right wing media has gaslighted you.

In the end, should we be surprised that voters retain a strong sense of skepticism over the outcome of the presidential election? That a man who largely campaigned from his basement, who exhibited signs of age-related mental decline, could handily defeat a vigorous incumbent who drew immense crowds is naturally hard to believe.

The election of 2020, which included more than 155 million votes, was decided by approximately 300,000 votes in six states, or 0.2 percent of the electorate, all of which came by an unnatural flip of results late on election night. Despite judges’ repeated hand-wringing that any court action would disenfranchise millions of voters, the reality is that millions of others may have been disenfranchised, and they instinctively suspect so.

The one thing many voters seem to have learned through the legal chaos is that it’s easier to commit election violations than to stop them. So the electorate remains divided—even after “86 election cases.”

Bob Anderson is a partner and CFO of a hotel development company and a former aerospace engineer who worked on the International Space Station and interned in Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative Organization (SDIO) at the Pentagon. He is also a licensed commercial pilot. Has zero credibility.

Brian Kemp, the Republican incumbent. One of the two Democrats who won their races in January, Senator Raphael Warnock, will also have to turn around and defend his seat next year in a race that Republicans are already eyeing as they seek to reclaim the chamber.

“Several local and national Republicans — including Mr. Trump — have tried to recruit the former University of Georgia football legend Herschel Walker to run for the seat, which could lend another wrinkle to the state’s political story, as if it needed one. Adding to the chaos, Mr. Kemp has become the target of a vendetta by Mr. Trump, who has condemned him for not doing more to deliver (or poach) victory for him in Georgia in November.”

only 60%? even my die-hard liberal friends quietly admit that the fucker was stolen. They're naturally thrilled with the outcome but they privately admit it was a shitty way to win. and they fear that a Pandora's box was opened in 2020. meaning - that what if the right decides to use the tactics of the left? What if the GOP says 'fuck it' and decides to print 50+ MILLION ballots to be distributed across the battleground states in order to 'win' in 2024?

Trump Left $1 Trillion War Chest for Biden to Deploy
POLITICO:
“Republicans are bashing the new $1.9 trillion pandemic relief package for further ballooning the federal debt, but it’s the Trump administration that greased the path for a smooth federal spending spree.

“The Treasury has a cash pile of well over $1 trillion, which will allow the government to quickly disburse money in line with the sweeping new law, including direct checks to millions of Americans that are expected to start hitting bank accounts in the coming week. That robust rainy-day fund was built last year by then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who preemptively cranked up the pace of government borrowing, unsure of how and when Congress might mandate further relief measures.”

THANK YOU KINDLY, DONALD. ;-)

This is why I voted for Biden and Kamala Harris rrb's dream job.

In a White House consumed by the coronavirus pandemic, one of the president’s less visible advisers is driven by the fear that the next outbreak could be even worse.

Dr. Beth Cameron had been preparing for an event of this magnitude for decades. As a senior national security official on biodefense in the Obama administration, she took part in the government’s response to the Ebola crisis, and in reaction to that scare wrote a “pandemic playbook” that she left for the Trump administration in 2017.

But the National Security Council office on pandemic preparedness that she helped to lead was shuttered, and when the worst pandemic in a century struck last year, her playbook was ignored.

Now she is back in the role — rebuilding her old office from scratch, reimagined, and providing Oval Office briefings to a new president who has vowed not only to end the current pandemic but to prevent the next one.
, instead of the Insurrectionist regime.

“We have a no-fail mission of monitoring and standing up a response to emerging biological threats,” Cameron, head of the National Security Council Directorate on Global Health Security and Biodefense, told McClatchy. “He is leaning forward on every aspect of our work.”

Within his first days in office, President Joe Biden reestablished Cameron’s team and signed an executive order calling for the creation of a national center for epidemic forecasting and outbreak analytics — a nerve center that would help the government track and project the course of viruses moving through populations.

Cameron’s NSC team is looking outward, coordinating with foreign governments and alliances to prepare for the next emergency that, like COVID-19, may come from overseas. The proposed national center — which has funding in the American Rescue Plan signed into law by Biden — would look inward, improving the country’s data collection, early warning systems and state and local reporting on public health threats.

Together, those two offices mark the beginning of an overhaul to the country’s biodefense infrastructure — an effort that experts say is long overdue.

We are moving forward with the former Orange Monster

“He (1) backed away from creating a third party and (2) has soured on the costly prospect of launching his own TV empire or (3) social media startup.”

“His (4) vow to target disloyal Republicans with personally-recruited primary challengers has taken a backseat to conventional endorsements of senators who refused to indulge his quest to overturn the 2020 election.

“And though he was supposed to (5) build a massive political apparatus to keep his MAGA movement afloat, it’s unclear to Republicans what his PAC is actually doing, beyond (6) entangling itself in disputes with Republican icons and the party’s fundraising arms.”

Trump had to deal with a unfounded and set-up Russian collusion hoax. And a press and Congressional leaders that ran with it. And a Mueller special counsel which couldn't determine it was a hoax. And conveniently wiped their phones themselves and never looked into the corrupt FBI running it.

There is now no doubt it was a hoax but there have been no repercussions to either the FBI nor Mueller's fraudulent gang.

And the press is complicit.

Democrats bank on relief aid to win back wary working class
Associated Press
March 14, 2021, 12:41 PM
JEANNETTE, Pa. (AP) — When Joe Biden visited this corner of southwestern Pennsylvania in the final weeks before the election, his goal wasn't to win it so much as to show the area's overwhelmingly white working-class electorate that his party was at least willing to try.

“A lot of white, working-class Democrats thought we forgot them,” Biden said after touring a union training facility during a late September swing through Westmoreland County. "I get their sense of being left behind.”

Democrats have offered paeans like that since President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered the New Deal and cemented an alliance with working-class voters. That bond was rooted in the notion that the Democrats' policies would improves workers' lives.

But that relationship has steadily frayed, with working-class voters now casting Democrats as the party of cultural elites who talk down to them and reject their values. Such resentment has even driven workers to vote against their seeming economic self-interest, given that GOP tax policy is often geared toward the well-to-do and business.

Now Biden and his party are hoping that by muscling through passage of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief and economic stimulus bill — with benefits heavily weighted toward lower- and middle-income Americans — they can win back at least a larger share of working-class voters.

The president is flying Tuesday to Delaware County, outside Philadelphia, to help promote the new aid.

Powerful: Military To Allow Troops To Replace Camo With Colors Of Their Gender Identity Flag

WASHINGTON, D.C.—A new executive order handed down from President Joe Biden will allow service members to select camouflage that reflects their chosen gender identity.

Soldiers, Marines, and sailors deployed to the front lines will be given the choice of which kind of uniform to wear. Options range from transgender flag colors and rainbow colors to lesser-known gender identity flags, such as tater-tots and dragonkin. You can even choose a furry suit, if you so desire.

"Rather than being stuck with patriarchal desert, forest, or urban camouflage, U.S. service members can now select camouflage that matches the flag of their chosen gender identity," said a spokesperson for the Pentagon. "It is important that every military member feel comfortable in their uniform and that it reflects their lived truth, whether that be a man in a woman's body, a woman in a man's body, or a grapefruit."

"Finally -- you can live your truth even as you fight America's enemies."

In unrelated news, there has been a spike in casualties among the armed forces fighting on the frontlines, though it's unclear why.

Doctor Fauci said we have to remain cautious.

WASHINGTON--Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday warned that the U.S. could experience another Covid-19 surge like Europe if it lifted restrictions too soon and called on former President Donald Trump to urge his supporters to get vaccinated.

The government’s top infectious-diseases expert said on Fox News Sunday that the pace of Covid-19 vaccinations is improving while new cases in the United States have plateaued.

Referring to Europe, Dr. Fauci said, “They always seem to be a few weeks ahead of us in the dynamics of the outbreak. Then they plateaued because they pulled back a bit. They thought that they were home free and they weren't. And now they're seeing an increase.”

His warnings came as some states, such as Texas, have begun allowing businesses to reopen at full capacity and dropping mask mandates against the advice of public health officials. Mr. Fauci called the decision in Texas “risky and potentially dangerous.”

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to "plagiarize" means:

to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own

to use (another's production) without crediting the source

to commit literary theft

to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

https://www.plagiarism.org/article/what-is-plagiarism

So by definition to copy posts directly from Goddards blog such as you do is plagiarism as is highlighted. No matter if Goddard links his sources since he has added words, not posted the entire context, selected out portions of the source etc. Even if he hadn't done that it would be plagiarism since you stole directly from him, but he does.

You are a plagiarist.
