Two recent polls suggest wokism is beginning to recede on a variety of fronts, from less trust in Black Lives Matter and more confidence in the police, to suspicion that the Capitol “insurrection” account is being used to unfairly suppress political expression while Antifa, increasingly, is seen as a terrorist organization whose violence has been ignored improperly by authorities.
There are tens of millions of Americans who either have been stung, or turned off, by McCarthyite wokeness (and thus have anti-wokeness antibodies). More have been vaccinated from its latest virulent strains by their own values of judging people as individuals, not as racial or gender collectives. So lots of Americans have developed peremptory defenses against it. The result is that daily there are ever-fewer who are susceptible to the woke pandemic. And it will thus begin to fade out—even as the virus desperately seeks to mutate and go after more institutions.
Something tells me that this is ultimately a loser's gambit. More and more polling is showing that an overwhelming percentage of the population believes that this cancel culture wokeness and political correctness is on it's last legs. Last I saw, polling showed that 80% of Americans believed that we were "too politically" correct, versus around 10% who believe we are not sensitive enough, with 10% having no real opinion.
I recommend taking a read here at this article and making your own opinions about it. I think it will be well worth your time.

The scientists said that you are fucking wrong again and again and again and again and again and on masking
March 8, 2021
Health experts have long argued that face masks are critical to slowing the spread of the coronavirus and ending the pandemic. But some elected officials and their constituents still refuse to wear them.
Last week, President Joe Biden criticized states, including Texas and Mississippi, for lifting Covid-19 restrictions, including mask mandates. He accused governors in those states of “Neanderthal thinking.”
At least fifteen states — representing 30% of the country — don’t require face masks.
With more than 500,000 Americans dead and new emerging variants of the virus, health experts warn that such policies could prolong the pandemic and result in more lives lost.
“We are not out of the woods. We haven’t reached the end of the pandemic,” said CNN medical analyst Dr. Leana Wen. “It’s counterproductive and truly infuriating these governors are treating this as if the pandemic is over. It’s not true.”
“We could be at the precipice of a fourth surge, and we have a way to prevent it and that’s keeping up our precautions for a while longer,” she said.
Here are five reasons why experts say you should wear a face mask, even if your state doesn’t require it:
Masks save lives
The science is clear: Wearing face masks saves lives.
Numerous studies have shown that masks are the single most effective way to protect yourself and others from contracting the coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.
In counties that require masks, Covid-19 case and death rates slow down, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If we had followed the German masking requirement, studies said that 150,000 more people would be alive.
Mask mandates were associated with a 0.7 percentage point decrease in daily rates of Covid-19 deaths up to 20 days after implementation and decreases of up to 1.9 percentage points up to 100 days later, according to new research published Friday by the CDC.
“Masks are a two-way street. Masks protect you and me” by preventing the spread of droplets and aerosol that may contain the virus, the CDC says in its mask guidance.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, has even started wearing two masks.
“There are many people who take the commonsense approach,” he told CNN. “If you’re talking about a physical barrier — and as the CDC recommends you want at least two layers within the mask as a physical barrier — and you feel maybe more of a physical barrier would be better, there’s nothing wrong with people wearing two masks. I often, myself, wear two masks.”
The CDC last week released new data suggesting that double masking can significantly improve protection.
Layering a cloth mask over a medical procedural mask, such as a disposable blue surgical mask, can block 92.5% of potentially infectious particles from escaping by creating a tighter fit and eliminating leakage, researchers said.
Masks can help protect pandemic gains
The United States has made a lot of progress in the fight against Covid-19, including the development of safety protocols, enhanced treatment plans and vaccines.
The rates of infections, hospitalizations and deaths have decreased in many states since January, and nearly 90 million doses of vaccines have already been administered.
But abandoning face masks now could reverse those gains, health experts warn.
With tens of thousands of Americans still being infected daily, and more transmissible variants discovered, it’s more important than ever to wear face masks and follow other safety guidelines.
“Please hear me clearly: At this level of cases with variants spreading, we stand to completely lose the hard-earned ground we have gained,” said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC.
“I am really worried about reports that more states are rolling back the exact public health measures we have recommended to protect people from Covid-19,” she said. “Please stay strong in your conviction. Continue wearing your well-fitting mask and taking the other public health prevention actions that we know work.”

Scott has lost his mind. He believes that the Democratic party is a Trotskyism political ideology and branch of Marxism developed by Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky. Trotsky self-identified as an orthodox Marxist and Bolshevik–Leninist. He supported founding a vanguard party of the proletariat, proletarian internationalism and a dictatorship of the proletariat based on working class self-emancipation and mass democracy. Trotskyists are critical of Stalinism as they oppose Joseph Stalin's theory of socialism in one country in favor of Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution. Trotskyists also criticize the bureaucracy that developed in the Soviet Union under Stalin.

Summary
What is already known about this topic?
Universal masking and avoiding nonessential indoor spaces are recommended to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
What is added by this report?
Mandating masks was associated with a decrease in daily COVID-19 case and death growth rates within 20 days of implementation. Allowing on-premises restaurant dining was associated with an increase in daily COVID-19 case growth rates 41–100 days after implementation and an increase in daily death growth rates 61–100 days after implementation.
What are the implications for public health practice?
Mask mandates and restricting any on-premises dining at restaurants can help limit community transmission of COVID-19 and reduce case and death growth rates. These findings can inform public policies to reduce community spread of COVID-19.

The final paragraph of Alky’s vaunted CDC study
* For the purposes of this analysis, no distinction was made based on whether reopened restaurants were subject to state requirements to implement safety measures, such as limit dining to outdoor service, reduce capacity, enhance sanitation, or physically distance, or if no mandatory restrictions applied. When states differentiated between bars that serve food and bars that do not serve food, restrictions for bars that serve food were coded as restaurants and restrictions for bars that do not serve food were coded as bars.

Hanson is fucking crazy.
Warring on the Past
No society can long exist if it believes that its own founding principles, its customs and traditions, its very origins are evil and must be erased. Tearing down statues of Abraham Lincoln, and redefining 1776 and 1787 as 1619, are many things, but one thing they are not is coherent. Trump was considered nutty when he warned that the statue topplers would go from Confederate monuments to Washington and Jefferson—and then when they did just that he was further ridiculed for being prescient.
Who were the long-dead men who devised a system whose natural and eventual fruition is what attracts indigenous people from Oaxaca, the destitute from Somalia, or the politically oppressed from Vietnam? If evil white people founded an evil system solely for their own evil purposes, why would anyone nonwhite dare risk his life to eat from the alluring fruit of the inherently long-ago poisoned tree?
If Americans are to accept that their Declaration of Independence and Constitution were frauds, abject falsifications of the real unspoken founding of 1619, then again what is to replace them? Whose statues are to rise, which books are we to be authorized to read, whose science are we to turn to?
Everyone has feet of some clay. For every cancellation, then must there be commensurate bowdlerizing? Is there no adultery, or unkind treatment of women or plagiarism in the past of Martin Luther King, Jr? No violence or criminality in the life of Malcolm X? Did Cesar Chavez never send his goons to the border to beat back illegal aliens? Was Margaret Sanger only a sometimes advocate of eugenic abortion? Are the written biographies of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to be freed of anti-Semitism and petty corruption? Is Louis Farrakhan an ecumenical leader in the way FDR was not? Was JFK really our first feminist?
Are we to look to those who erased our supposedly awful past for guidance?
Nobody except him is saying this
their Declaration of Independence and Constitution were frauds, abject falsifications.
He is projecting falsely, that his beliefs are held by his opposition.

Diplomats Warned of a Virus Danger in Wuhan In 2017
Josh Rogin:
“In the spring of 2020, inside the U.S. government, some officials began to see and collect evidence of a different, perhaps more troubling theory—that the outbreak had a connection to one of the laboratories in Wuhan, among them the WIV, a world leading center of research on bat coronaviruses.
IMPORTANT:
“To some inside the government, the name of the laboratory was familiar. Its research on bat viruses had already drawn the attention of U.S. diplomats and officials at the Beijing Embassy in late 2017, prompting them to alert Washington that the lab’s own scientists had reported ‘a serious shortage of appropriately trained technicians and investigators needed to safely operate this high-containment laboratory.'”
“But their cables back to Washington were ignored.”

MY COMMENT:
I'm sure this article could be used

and
to condemn Trump.
Maybe some of both would be justified.
Mask mandates were associated with a 0.7 percentage point decrease in daily rates of Covid-19 deaths up to 20 days after implementation and decreases of up to 1.9 percentage points up to 100 days later, according to new research published Friday by the CDC.
Well isn't this statistically cryptic?
The CDC couldn't just tell us the rates of cases where there was mask mandates and compare it with the rates of cases where there were no mask mandates. That would be a study that would make sense and be easily used to make actual comparisons.
Instead we get a percentage of how much the rates "changed" over time? So an increase or decrease changes by 0.7 to 1.9 percent and that means what exactly?
Now the actual study did sort of suggest that the actual real rate of change was 0.02 and 0.03 versus a difference of under 0.01 for the control group? Or at least that is what I can make of it.
They also suggest that there was almost no difference in the first forty days regarding the reopening of restaurants, and only a marginal difference in infection rates over the larger period of time, but that the "death rate" was not statistically different.
Wow... impressive.
“We are living another dreadful and costly lie right now—the lie that Donald Trump is qualified to be president, the lie that the United States can survive four years of a presidency driven by the moral chaos generated by his lies. “One of the things with the wall is you need transparency. You have to be able to see through it. In other words, if you can’t see through that wall—so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what’s on the other side of the wall. “And I’ll give you an example. As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don’t see them—they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It’s over. As crazy as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall. But we have some incredible designs.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released hotly anticipated guidelines for vaccinated people Monday, saying those who have received their Covid-19 shot can socialize with other fully vaccinated individuals indoors without wearing masks or social distancing.
The guidelines, which were originally set for release last week, also say vaccinated people can visit indoors — under the same rules ‚ with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe Covid-19 disease. The CDC recommends vaccinated individuals “refrain” from quarantining and testing if they come into contact with someone with Covid-19 and do not develop symptoms.
The President has been identified as a successful President in his bunker. snicker at Scott.

Kputz is putting other people at risk.
The guidance outlines several ways that fully vaccinated people can return to their old routines, although it is more general than what some might have hoped for. It doesn’t explicitly say, for instance, whether vaccinated grandparents can hug and kiss their unvaccinated grandchildren, but appears to endorse such behavior by saying vaccinated people can safely gather indoors with those in one unvaccinated household without masks or physical distancing, as long as no one is at risk of severe disease.
A growing body of evidence suggests that fully vaccinated people are less likely to spread the virus to others. While some prevention measures continue to be necessary, the benefits of reducing social isolation “may outweigh the residual risk of fully vaccinated people becoming ill with covid-19” or transmitting the virus to others, the guidance says.
In addition, relaxing certain measures for vaccinated people “may help improve covid-19 vaccine acceptance and uptake,” CDC says. “Therefore, there are several activities that fully vaccinated people can resume now, at low risk to themselves, while being mindful of the potential risk of transmitting the virus to others.”
280 former generals, admirals, and national security officials signed a letter warning that if Trump were to bring in any federal troops to keep the peace after the capital violence of late May and early June, riots that saw systematic attacks on police, vandalism, arson, injuries, and looting, and neared the White House grounds, he should be considered a dictatorial threat. “There is no role for the U.S. military in dealing with American citizens exercising their constitutional right to free speech, however uncomfortable that speech may be for some,” they insisted.
The same group remained mute when nearly 30,000 troops flooded the streets of the capital in the aftermath of the January 6 riot inside the Capitol building. They maintain their silence as barbed wire and fencing now cordon off the city, and thousands of troops remain without a terrorist or insurrectionist enemy in sight—a militarization of the capital not seen since the Civil War. Tolerable and intolerable violence is predicated on ideology, not its nature or magnitude.

Myth 8: The only way you’ll get COVID-19 is if you touch something that was infected (like a doorknob) and then touch your face.
It’s true that someone can touch a contaminated surface or object and transfer the virus to themselves via their mouth, nose or eyes. However, becoming infected from touching a surface is not considered to be the primary way the virus spreads. Instead, the virus mainly spreads through the air in respiratory droplets that are exhaled from an infected person’s mouth and nose. A healthy person nearby can then unknowingly inhale these droplets and become infected. So, it’s crucial that you wash your hands, don’t touch your face and wear a face mask to protect yourself and those around you.
Myth 9: Masks are still effective if they cover your mouth, so keeping your nose out is OK.
Your mouth and nose are connected. So when you sneeze, cough or even breathe – you use both. That’s why your mask needs to cover your mouth AND your nose. Lowering your mask down under your nose exposes you to potentially infectious particles in the air around you, while also exposing others to the respiratory droplets you’re exhaling. Wearing a face mask can take some getting used to, but wearing one correctly is the whole point of why they work.
Both ways Spreading to others and Protecting others.

Too bad the experts like Fauci didn't believe we should even restrict travel, much less race to create a vaccine for a virus we knew nothing about.
But I guess if Donald Trump was that much smarter about infectious diseases than the epidemiologist who ran the CDC, then he should have known better, huh?
btw... what were Democrats like slow Joe Biden saying? I remember! That stopping overseas travel (which even Fauci admitted saved thousands of lives) was racist and unnecessary.
So why don't you stop with the idea that the President should have known the future and should have disagreed with Fauci and others back in February before even one American had died and demanded a vaccine be created for a Virus we knew nothing about.
Brilliant. Third grade thinking.... maybe even fourth grade!
If people who were getting paid more than their unemployment benefits, the vast majority would go back to work and possibly get medical insurance coverage.
I know that some jobs would be gone but the numbers indicate that it would lead to a stronger economic situation.
If they compromise on a number to $12.00 it would strengthen the middle class.

You do realize that $12/hour on the West Coast and $12/hour in South Dakota are two entirely different concepts. Not even remotely the same thing.
I can find a one bedroom apartment in Brookings SD for about $600-$700 a month. It costs about $1200 or more for a studio apartment in Renton, Washington (a small suburb close to where we live).
Which is why minimum wages should be controlled at the state and local levels, not at the Federal level.
You spent two months after the infection arrived you said it was the flu because Trump told you everything he wanted.
If he had not denied the dangerous situation tens of thousands lives would be saved by the injections he delayed for 2 months and 7 days.
Fauci is a scientist who understands how science works but you don't know a fucking thing about it.
I understand the federalist system gives states to make many issues, but it's not working well for millions of people who pay taxes.

If you are talking about hypotheticals, then you know you are full of shit and already lost the argument on fact!
How often do you hear some desperate person without any real facts just make up hypotheticals?
Here is the typical argument: Well if so and so happened, then a and b would happen in response. Sure, I am making all of that up (including the response) but I am making a point that I otherwise cannot make with a factual argument, so there!
Here is the real desperate attempt:
If thousands of African Americans committed insurrection in support of the inauguration of Sleepy Joe Biden, blah, blah, blah!

While other groups have also been wary about the shots, for instance, communities of color, polling shows that hesitancy has started to wane while GOP resistance to the vaccines remains relatively high. A Kaiser Family Foundation poll released last month found that 28 percent of Republicans said they would “definitely not” get vaccinated, and another 18 percent said they would “wait and see” before getting a shot. As a result, millions of Republicans could remain unvaccinated, a potential roadblock to efforts to achieve the high levels of immunity needed to stop the virus in the United States — an irony that isn’t lost on Trump officials who worked to end the pandemic.
“It’s a little bit confounding,” said Paul Mango, who helped lead the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed initiative that sped coronavirus vaccines to market in less than a year. “I really don’t understand it, to tell you the truth. To me, this was the most spectacular medical development in our lifetimes.”
Some of that hesitancy is embodied by Trump himself, who spent years raising questions about vaccine safety, dismissed the value of flu shots while president, and opted not to publicly disclose or televise that he was vaccinated against the coronavirus in January, shortly before leaving the White House.

Gee Roger...
I guess you admit your defeat...
With another stupid hypothetical that makes zero sense.
Just because you are stupid enough to believe that politicians can tell the future when the experts didn't see it, doesn't mean I am that stupid.
Boy If Hillary Clinton had been President and a million people died from Covid, Liberals would have claimed it would have been two million without her great guidance, thrown her a ticker tape parade, said she was the greatest President of all time, and wanted her to be put on Mount Rushmore, all because her response would have been so great!
guess that if Donald Trump was able to understood about the infectious diseases that the epidemiologist knew about,he would might have listened to the epidemiologist who ran the CDC and initiated Warp speed much earlier.
But he thinks he knows more about science, than the scientific community. So he didn't listen to them.
Roger, I read your post.

Roger...
Are you seriously claiming that Dr Fauci told Trump to initiate Warp Speed back in February?
When in reality he told people back in February that travel was okay, that Covid was not much of a threat to Americans, and that wearing masks was unnecessary.
Are you stupid or do you think everyone else is stupid?
Roger , you want to debate your prediction that you made that Bidenomics will have the US Economy back to pre-pandemic levels by April 30th?

Executive Order on Establishment of the White House Gender Policy Council
MARCH 08, 2021 • PRESIDENTIAL ACTIONS
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:
Section 1. Policy. Advancing gender equity and equality is a matter of human rights, justice, and fairness. It is also a strategic imperative that reduces poverty and promotes economic growth, increases access to education, improves health outcomes, advances political stability, and fosters democracy. The full participation of all people — including women and girls — across all aspects of our society is essential to the economic well-being, health, and security of our Nation and of the world.
It is therefore the policy of my Administration to establish and pursue a comprehensive approach to ensure that the Federal Government is working to advance equal rights and opportunities, regardless of gender or gender identity, in advancing domestic and foreign policy — including by promoting workplace diversity, fairness, and inclusion across the Federal workforce and military. This order is intended to advance gender equity and equality, with sensitivity to the experiences of those who suffer discrimination based on multiple factors, including membership in an underserved community.
Sec. 2. The White House Gender Policy Council. (a) There is established a White House Gender Policy Council (Council) within the Executive Office of the President.
(b) The Council shall coordinate Federal Government efforts to advance gender equity and equality, including policies and programs to:
(i) combat systemic biases and discrimination, including sexual harassment, and to support women’s human rights;
(ii) increase economic security and opportunity by addressing the structural barriers to women’s participation in the labor force and by decreasing wage and wealth gaps;
(iii) address the caregiving needs of American families and support the care-workers they depend upon;
(iv) support gender equity and combat gender stereotypes in education, including promoting participation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields;
(v) promote gender equity in leadership;
(vi) increase access to comprehensive health care, address health disparities, and promote sexual and reproductive health and rights;
(vii) empower girls;
(viii) prevent and respond to all forms of gender‑based violence;

He didn't have a problem with people requesting ballots and voting by mail.
It's the dumping of unrequested and unverified ballots.
Florida actually does it right. Why don't democrat states follow Florida ???
And Florida has election results weeks and months before Democrat states.

We won't get rid of the electoral college but
In the past two decades, Republican candidates for president have won more votes than their Democratic opponent just once, in 2004, when George W. Bush defeated John F. Kerry in a landslide. In that same time frame, Republicans have twice lost the popular vote but won the White House. In the 2020 election, that same undemocratic outcome nearly happened again. If Donald Trump had won 50,000 more votes distributed across Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin, he would have been reelected despite receiving 7 million fewer votes than Biden.
