Well there you have it. Same Sex marriage will not be a mainstream Catholic issue. Not that I do not believe that certain Priests and Catholic churches will not go against the Pope's will. They likely will. I believe overwhelmingly that in 2021 the real religion that many people follow is political rather than spiritual in nature. Certainly the manner in which liberals and conservatives practice their religion is one of the major differences between the two parties.
To what differences do I refer? Well I believe that liberal people are generally more likely to put their political beliefs ahead of their spiritual beliefs. They may act as if the two are one in the same, but there is literally nothing more secular, dishonest, and untrustworthy than politics. To pretend (as many do) that there is more honor in following the teachings of Joe and Kamala than that of Jesus and the Pope is a ridiculous concept, even as I mostly reject the teachings of either.
Conservative Christians on the other hand sort of have a chicken egg thing to figure out. Are they more likely to follow the beliefs of the church because Republicans cater to the church, or do people who are want to follow the beliefs of the church find more refuge in a Republican Party that is less hostile towards religious teachings.
Obviously many Democrats would love to see the State overtake churches, monitor churches, and even tell churches what to believe. They see the church as a direct threat to their politics and many actually see the church as an outdated concept. Most conservatives believe in the separation of church and state in the same manner that the constitution dictates, which was to protect the church from the state (rather than the other way around). These religious types still believe that the church has a place in our society.
The questions regarding sexuality and the church are always going to rage. The problem with this argument is that religion is not really built on a concept open to much change. The very idea of religion and the teachings that guide them are very much static ideas that were written into books that are open to only so much interpretation. The further you stray from those books, the less the entire concept of religion make sense. If we clearly reject major portions of what the church has been teaching, then why would be we cling to any of the other portions?

Two men have been charged with the alleged assault of police officer Brian Sicknick, who later died following the Capitol riot in January, according to reports.

The cause of death of Mr Sicknick is yet to be determined.
Citing arrest documents, the two were charged with nine counts of assault on multiple officers, plus civil disorder and obstructing a Congressional proceeding, after tipsters identified both from surveillance video images.
“Give me that bear s---,” Mr Khater allegedly said to Mr Tanios on video recorded at the Lower West Terrace of the Capitol at 2:14 pm, according to the reports.
Mr Sicknick and other officers were standing guard behind metal bicycle racks at the terrace, with officers C Edwards and B Chapman also identified in the arrest papers.
Mr Khater is allegedly seen on video discharging a canister into the face of Mr Sicknick and the two other officers about nine minutes later.

The agency, working with the architect of the Capitol, will take steps beginning this week to first move an inner perimeter of fencing closer to the Capitol building and remove looped razor wire strung atop it, according to the aide, who spoke anonymously to discuss security plans that were still private. The agency will then proceed to remove altogether a secondary, outer perimeter next week, allowing Independence and Constitution Avenues to reopen to traffic for the first time since January.
It was unclear exactly how long the inner perimeter fencing might remain in place, as lawmakers and the law enforcement agency plan a path forward to ensure there is no repeat of the deadly rampage. In an email to House members, Timothy P. Blodgett, the chamber’s acting sergeant-at-arms, wrote on Monday that it would stay in place for at least as long as it takes to make security repairs to the Capitol building.
“Working with their federal, state and local intelligence partners, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) has informed the sergeant-at-arms (SAA) that ‘there does not exist a known, credible threat against Congress or the Capitol Complex that warrants the temporary security fencing,’” Mr. Blodgett wrote in the memo, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times.
