Just kidding.

I agree with him.

President Biden is facing his first major test of a campaign promise and, it appears, he’s about to fail it.
The world has waited for more than two years to see how the United States would ultimately respond to the brutal killing of Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the hands of a Saudi Arabian assassination team. Candidate Biden was firm and unequivocal in assuring American voters that, if elected president, he would make the regime “pay the price and make them, in fact, the pariah that they are.” He also said, “Khashoggi was, in fact, murdered and dismembered, and I believe on the order of the crown prince.”
This was welcome relief to Americans and freedom-loving people around the world that the pass given by the Trump team was only temporary and would not stand. Hoping that American values would once again be asserted rather than the commercial calculations of the previous administration, American voters took Biden at his word that he would reestablish the United States as a champion of human rights and not allow exceptions based on personal relationships or strategic needs of the moment.

The long-awaited release of the Director of National Intelligence report confirmed what investigations by the U.N. special rapporteur, the Turkish government and others concluded long ago: Ultimate responsibility for the murder of Khashoggi rested with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.

With that essential fact established, the Biden administration now seems ready to move on while proposing some sanctions falling far short of honoring Biden’s campaign promise to hold Mohammed accountable. It appears as though under the Biden administration, despots who offer momentarily strategic value to the United States might be given a “one free murder” pass.

He doesn't appear to realize much of anything that is going on, but apparently is doing real well in Mario Kart.

Did he mention when he would be doing the SOTU or is he having cum allah or Jill do it for him?

The CNN fact Checker

Trump repeated various versions of his usual lie that he won the 2020 election. He said that Democrats "just lost the White House," said that "it's not possible" that he lost, said "no" after asking the rhetorical question "did Biden win?" and said another election win in the future would be his "third."

Facts First: This is all false. Trump lost the 2020 election, fair and square. Democrat Joe Biden won a 306-232 victory in the Electoral College -- earning over seven million more votes than Trump, good for a margin of 51.3% to 46.8%.

Mail-in ballots and dead voters.

Trump repeated his attack on mail-in voting and claimed that dead people voted in the election.

"(T)ens of millions of ballots. Where are they coming from? They're coming from all over the place." He then claimed that "dead people are voting."

Facts First: Both of these claims are wrong. As we have fact checked many times before, mail-in voting is not rife with fraud and there were not tens of millions of ballots that came from unknown origins. CNN looked into several claims of dead people's ballots being cast in the election and found no evidence of widespread fraud.

Early morning vote batches. One Scott said

Trump repeated the claim that some nefarious vote-dumping occurred in the earlier hours of the morning after the election.

"What happened at 3:02 in the morning?" Trump asked the CPAC audience.

Facts First: There's nothing inherently suspicious or mysterious about large batches of votes being reported late at night or even after Election Day.

Votes from mail-in ballots were often reported later on Election Day and afterwards because they couldn't be counted ahead of time in many states, including Michigan and Pennsylvania. And in several lawsuits over the election, judges determined the witness affidavits claiming they saw literal late night dumps of ballots were baseless and not evidence of fraud.

More votes than people

Trump repeated another of his arguments about voter fraud, claiming that in multiple cities there were more votes than people. He specifically called out Detroit, Michigan, which came under scrutiny shortly after the election when Republican county election officials tried to block the certification of election results.

"We have a little problem adjusting in Detroit, we seem to have more votes than we have people. A lot more votes. An election changing number," Trump said.

Facts First: It's false that there were more votes than people in Detroit. The city saw 250,138 votes cast this election, less than half the number of registered voters (504,714) and far fewer than the 670,031 people in the city as of 2019, according to the US Census Bureau.

Trump's insistence that there are "more votes than people" likely refers to precincts that are out of balance, which means the number of voters recorded didn't match the number of ballots cast in certain places. However, former and current Michigan state officials told CNN these imbalances are often clerical errors which are addressed as part of the canvassing process and not indicative of widespread fraud.

Votes in Pennsylvania.

Trump also claimed that "in Pennsylvania, they had hundreds of thousands of more votes than they had people voting."

Facts First: This is false. State officials and fact checkers have repeatedly explained that the claim that Pennsylvania had more votes than registered voters is just not true; Trump may have been relying on an incorrect figure from a Republican state legislator, who had relied on incomplete data.

Biden and the Keystone Pipeline.

Trump claimed that Biden had not said during his campaign that he was planning to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline.

"In one of his first official acts -- which was incredible, because again, he talked about energy, he never said he was going to do this -- he canceled the Keystone pipeline," Trump said.

Facts First: This is misleading. Biden's campaign announced in May 2020 that he would cancel the Keystone XL pipeline if elected, and reiterated that position later in the campaign. An initial search of newspaper and television archives did not turn up any examples of Biden personally speaking about his plan to kill Keystone, so there may be a narrow basis for Trump's claim that Biden himself "never said" he would do so. But given that the Biden campaign's announcement was widely reported, the facts don't support Trump's broader suggestion that the cancellation was a surprise move.

Biden and fracking.

Trump claimed Biden reversed his stance on fracking between the primary and the general election, stating, "During the primary, 'no fracking.' As soon as he got through that, he said 'no, of course, everybody can frack.'"

Facts First: While Trump's characterization of Biden's stance on fracking is inaccurate, there is some basis for the Trump campaign's continued criticism that Biden flipflopped on the issue. Biden's written plan never included a complete ban on fracking but his comments over the course of the campaign did create confusion about his position on the issue.

They will keep one eye trained on social and fiscal policies that have long been hallmarks of the conservative movement — akin to those Pence fought for during his 2005-2007 tenure as RSC chair — and the other on a new set of cultural topics that Republicans have only just begun to tackle under Trump.”

Said Rep. Banks:
“What I want to do with the RSC for the next couple of years is really make the Trump legacy and the Trump platform the platform of the Republican Party and the conservative movement of the future. And RSC is perfectly positioned to effectively do that.”

Trump Mostly Ignored Biden’s Pandemic Relief Bill
NBC News reports that:
Former President Donald Trump spent almost no time addressing the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package that the House passed this weekend.

Said Trump:
'The Democrats now say we have to pass their $1.9 trillion boondoggle to open schools, but a very small part of it has to do with that. You know where it’s going — it’s going to bailout badly-run Democrat cities, so much of it.'

“That’s it. In almost 90 minutes of remarks, Trump devoted just two sentences of criticism to Biden’s first legislative priority as president. And it says a lot about the state of GOP opposition to the Covid relief bill, which remains popular in polls: While House Republicans uniformly voted against it on Saturday, it hasn’t been an animating issue for Republicans.”

It's POPULAR!

Elizabeth Warren Revives Wealth Tax
The New York Times:
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) “plans to introduce legislation on Monday that would tax the net worth of the wealthiest people in America, a proposal aimed at persuading President Biden and other Democrats to fund sweeping new federal spending programs by taxing the richest Americans.

“Ms. Warren’s wealth tax would apply a 2 percent tax to individual net worth — including the value of stocks, houses, boats and anything else a person owns, after subtracting out any debts — above $50 million. It would add an additional 1 percent surcharge for net worth above $1 billion.”

Johnson & Johnson plans to test its coronavirus vaccine in infants and even in newborns, as well as in pregnant women and in people who have compromised immune systems.

The bold plan for expanded clinical trials met with the approval of Dr. Ofer Levy, director of the Precision Vaccines Program at Harvard’s Boston Children’s Hospital and a member of the Food and Drug Administration advisory committee that reviewed the company’s vaccine data.

When Levy saw the outlines of the planned trials, “they turned my head,” he said. They were reported as part of the company’s application to the FDA for emergency use approval and discussed at the FDA meeting.

Sign up for The Morning newsletter from the New York Times

“They did not get into a lot of detail about it but did make it clear they will be pursuing pediatric and maternal coronavirus immunization studies,” Levy said. They referred committee members to their briefing materials where, on page 34, the company mentioned the planned studies.

A spokesperson for Janssen Biotech, the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary that is manufacturing the vaccine, confirmed that the company planned to extend clinical trials to children.

PfizerBioNTech and Moderna, whose coronavirus vaccines are now being given to adults, plan to gradually test them in younger and younger age groups. Those vaccines are now being tested in children 12 and older.

Johnson & Johnson will first test its vaccine in children older than 12 and under 18, but plans to immediately after begin a study that includes newborns and adolescents. The company then will test its vaccine in pregnant women, and finally in immunocompromised people. Like the other companies, Johnson & Johnson will analyze safety and immune responses.

Unlike the COVID-19 vaccines currently in use, which use a new technology involving messenger RNA, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine utilizes a method that has been widely tested for years. It relies on a disabled adenovirus, similar to viruses that cause the common cold, to deliver instructions to cells to briefly make copies of the virus’s spike protein. The recipient’s immune system then makes antibodies against the spike protein. The coronavirus needs its spike proteins to infect cells, so the antibodies can block a COVID infection before it starts.

Existing adenovirus vaccines include one for Ebola that has been safely administered to babies as young as age 1, and another for respiratory syncytial virus that was safely given to newborns. Nearly 200,000 people have received adenovirus vaccines, with no serious safety issues, Levy said. He said that Johnson & Johnson mentioned that safety record at the FDA meeting.

Most of the world’s vaccine market is for pediatric vaccines.

Levy added that in his opinion children need not be immunized in order for schools to open. But many parents are afraid to send their children to school without a vaccine. And, he noted, vaccinating children will help the country reach herd immunity.

new Republican big lie about the Capitol attack has its foundation in the previous Republican big lie—the one claiming the election was stolen from its rightful winner, Donald Trump. All those Trump supporters who weren’t armed and didn’t overrun the Capitol were just there, they say, because of their very reasonable questions about the election. Those election lies were a major topic at the Conservative Political Action Conference over the weekend, the big lie supported by a hundred little lies, about the dozens of court cases Team Trump lost, about voting machines (those lies now the subject of a whole new set of court cases, in this case with voting machine manufacturers suing prominent Republicans for huge amounts of money), about “mysterious late-night ballot dumps” that were in fact normal vote-counting in urban counties. All those lies, coming from Donald Trump himself as well as Republican senators and House members and pundits and lesser Trump family members, then get recycled into the claim that even though the attack on the Capitol didn’t happen like it happened, if it had, it would really have been kind of reasonable because people have “questions” about how the election played out. The “questions” that the lies of prominent Republicans instilled in them.

Republicans are building lies on lies on lies, and each time you try to puncture one lie, they bring up another one to support it. The entire party is a con.

Over 120 children have been reunited with their parents since Joe Biden was sworn in.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States could pay for transportation, healthcare, legal services, and career and educational services for migrants separated under former President Donald Trump's "zero tolerance" border strategy, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said on Monday.

The announcement is part of a list of principles released by the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden to guide its family reunification task force as the administration seeks to reunite more than 500 migrant children and parents separated by his predecessor's border policy.

The Biden administration will also consider bringing deported parents back to the United States, an option outlined in Biden's Feb. 2 executive order creating the family reunification task force.

“We are dedicating our resources throughout the Department of Homeland Security and the federal government, and bringing our full weight to bear, to reunite children who were cruelly separated from their parents," DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a written statement.

Is the Biden Administration Stumbling Into War?

Nothing is more dangerous than stronger powers, even inadvertently, sending signals that are interpreted as weakness by weaker powers.

If Biden promises to return to the Iran Deal to create peace in the Middle East, to bring back the Palestinians to the center of negotiations to “find a comprehensive peace” with Israel, he will not merely stumble, but fail after claiming he did everything right in failing.

Despite the animus toward Trump, nothing is broken abroad. NATO is better funded, better armed, and more fairly contributory to the shared cause. In the Middle East, pro-Western Arab and Muslim nations are now aligned with the United States to contain Iran and its appendages like the Assads in Syria, Lebanese Hezbollah, and West Bank Hamas. Iran, the font of anti-Westernism and anti-Americanism in the Middle East has not merely been sanctioned and isolated, but broken and decimated by the pandemic and crashing oil prices.

The reason that China despised the Trump Administration was not, as it claimed, xenophobia, racism, or China bashing, but rather because Trump called out and exposed its decades of aggression, subversion, and its planned trajectory to global hegemony.

When the Biden team talks of reentering the Iran Deal without the Trump baggage, or wants a new relationship with China, they may well instead be interpreted by our enemies as rejecting deterrence, forgetting why the Trump Administration held those two countries to account, and inviting them again to take risks they otherwise might not be willing to take.

Our enemies may not see Biden just as elderly and frail, his congressional majorities thin, his animus directed more at the Trump movement than others abroad, but as unlikely to respond to their own aggression.

Biden would do better to apprise quietly his friends and enemies of America’s force and determination. He should resist comprehensive deals with China and Iran that have unrealistic chances of success given their agendas. And he could claim Trump’s successes as his own and continue their current trajectories, rather than court favor abroad by distancing himself from a largely successful foreign policy guided by Secretary of State Pompeo.

Otherwise, the alternatives will become increasingly dangerous.

I have long said America wasn’t built by Wall Street. It was built by the middle class, and unions built the middle class. Unions put power in the hands of workers. They level the playing field. They give you a stronger voice for your health, your safety, higher wages, protections from racial discrimination and sexual harassment. Unions lift up workers, both union and non-union, but especially Black and Brown workers.

I made it clear—I made it clear when I was running, that my administration’s policy would be to support unions organizing and the right to collectively bargain. I’m keeping that promise. You should all remember the National Labor Relations Act didn’t just say that unions are allowed to exist, it said that we should encourage unions.

So let me be really clear: It’s not up to me to decide whether anyone should join a union. But let me be even more clear: it’s not up to an employer to decide that either. The choice to join a union is up to the workers—full stop. Full stop.

Today and over the next few days and weeks, workers in Alabama and all across America are voting on whether to organize a union in their workplace. This is vitally important—a vitally important choice as America grapples with the deadly pandemic, the economic crisis, and the reckoning on race—what it reveals about the deep disparities that still exist in our country. And there should be no intimidation, no coercion, no threats, no anti-union propaganda. No supervisor should confront employees about their union preferences.

You know, every worker should have a free and fair choice to join a union. The law guarantees that choice. And it’s your right, not that of an employer, it’s your right. No employer can take that right away. So make your voice heard. God bless you all, and may God protect the workers and their families who are trying to figure out how to make it fairly. Thank you.

Unions put power in the hands of workers. They level the playing field. They give you a stronger voice for your health, your safety, higher wages, protections from racial discrimination and sexual harassment. Unions lift up workers, both union and non-union, but especially Black and Brown workers.

Tesla Giga New York (or Gigafactory 2)[2] is a photovoltaic (PV) cell factory leased by Tesla subsidiary SolarCity in Buffalo, New York. The factory, owned by the State of New York, was built on brownfield land remediated from a former steel mill. Construction of the factory started in 2014 and was completed in 2016–17.

By early 2020, Tesla had increased the number of employees at the factory to more than 1,500, but Panasonic stopped manufacturing solar panels at the factory in 2020.[6] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, employment at the factory decreased in the first half of 2020.[5]

You Know Who Noem Actually Is?

S.D. Gov. Kristi Noem says she nailed the pandemic response. Fauci: The numbers ‘don’t lie.’

wASHINGTON POST By Meryl Kornfield

South Dakota Gov. Kristi L. Noem (R), a conservative favorite, received a standing ovation at the Conservative Political Action Conference when she criticized Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, for being “wrong a lot” — which the nation’s top infectious-disease expert said was unhelpful.

While making a dig at Fauci at the Orlando conference, Noem touted her personal liberties approach to the coronavirus pandemic, forgoing recommendations to mandate masks and instead allowing a massive motorcycle rally later tied to a national surge in infections. Despite Noem’s claims of success, her state has reported more infections per resident than any state besides North Dakota.

“South Dakota is the only state in America that never ordered a single business or church to close,” she said to applause and cheers. “We never instituted a shelter-in-place order. We never mandated that people wear masks. We never even defined what an essential business is.”

South Dakota’s covid-19 numbers have been terrible, but the governor says that’s the wrong metric.

On Sunday, Fauci said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Noem’s remarks were “unfortunate” and “not very helpful,” especially while more contagious variants are proliferating in the United States and the nation is ramping up a massive vaccination effort.

“Right now, as we are going down and plateauing, is not the time to declare victory,” Fauci told anchor Margaret Brennan.

“Sometimes, you think things are going well, and just take a look at the numbers,” Fauci added. “They don’t lie.”

South Dakota ranks second nationally for the most coronavirus cases reported per capita, eighth for total deaths per capita and ninth for peak hospitalized count per capita, according to data gathered and analyzed by The Washington Post.

Noem, who also spoke with Brennan on Sunday, insisted she listened to public health experts — but at the same time, she stressed that the mandates advised by federal officials were unnecessary because her state’s residents could make individual decisions.

.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

When asked whether she claimed personal responsibility for the Midwest outbreak seeded by the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which about 100,000 people attended, Noem asserted that research that identified a $12.2 billion public health price tag associated with the event was false and that fewer than 100 cases were traced to the rally.

As Brennan pressed Noem on her decision to disregard recommendations for stricter guidelines, the governor brushed off questions, saying Democratic leaders should answer.

“I know you are conservative and you care about the sanctity of life, so how can you justify making decisions that put the health of your constituents at risk?” Brennan asked.

“And those are questions you should be asking every other governor as well,” Noem responded.

HUNH?

Noem claimed the state’s infection rate peaked earlier than those of other states, which is why the state’s per capita number of cases was high. But South Dakota has tallied records for infections and deaths as recently as November.

Noem told the CPAC crowd that she successfully mitigated the virus by prioritizing hospitalization figures over infection rates. She said Fauci had predicted the state would have 10,000 people hospitalized at its worst. Instead, the state has not surpassed more than 600 hospitalized.

“I don’t know if you would agree with me, but Dr. Fauci is wrong a lot,” she said to booming applause.

Critics of Noem’s speech argued she was belittling the sickness and death inflicted by the virus in her state.

CNN medical analyst and George Washington University professor Jonathan Reiner called Noem’s remarks “outrageous.”

“Her science denialism has resulted in the propagation of that disease unnecessarily throughout her state mercilessly,” Reiner told CNN’s Ana Cabrera, “so I side with Tony Fauci.”

Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue continued to align himself with former President Donald Trump and his election fraud conspiracy theories during a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Sunday, bizarrely claiming that “in my opinion,” Trump is still president.

“It’s just an honor to be here. But my biggest honor today is gonna be that ― I think we’re gonna be on the same stage ― as, in my opinion, the real, the legitimate, and the still-actual president of the United States, Donald J. Trump,” he said on the CPAC stage.

Since a July 2020 appearance at the White House, Unanue’s loud adulation of Trump ― who routinely expressed xenophobic views targeting Latinx communities ― has prompted ongoing calls to boycott Goya Foods, a New Jersey-based company that markets Latin American food products.

Goya’s board reportedly voted to censure the CEO in late January after he publicly questioned the legitimacy of the November election, which President Joe Biden won with a majority of the popular vote and 306 Electoral College votes to Trump’s 232. The decision meant Unanue will be prohibited from speaking to the media without the board’s permission, CNN reported.

Trump Confirms He Called For 10,000 National Guard For Jan 6th… Pelosi Refused.

Speaking Steve Hilton on “The Revolution,” the former president outlined how he knew in advance of the crowd size:

“Everyone said we’ll be at the rally. It was, I think, the largest crowd that I have ever spoken to before. I have spoken to big crowds, hundreds of thousands of people, more than that, but hundreds of thousands of people.”

In response, Trump said he “gave the number” to the Department of Defense, insisting that 10,000 members of the National Guard would be needed.

“They took that number, from what I understand, they gave it to people at the Capitol, that is controlled by Pelosi, and I heard they rejected it because they didn’t think it would look good,” added Trump in the interview after his Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) speech.

Trump’s comments follow reports that Pelosi discouraged the Sergeant at Arms from deploying the force and an implausible timeline whereby Pelosi approved a request for the National Guard before it was even received by former Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving.

The news confirms reporting from Vanity Fair, mostly ignored by the mainstream media:

On the evening of January 5—the night before a white supremacist mob stormed Capitol Hill in a siege that would leave five dead—the acting secretary of defense, Christopher Miller, was at the White House with his chief of staff, Kash Patel. They were meeting with President Trump on “an Iran issue,” Miller told me. But then the conversation switched gears. The president, Miller recalled, asked how many troops the Pentagon planned to turn out the following day. “We’re like, ‘We’re going to provide any National Guard support that the District requests,’” Miller responded. “And [Trump] goes, ‘You’re going to need 10,000 people.’ No, I’m not talking bullshit. He said that. And we’re like, ‘Maybe. But you know, someone’s going to have to ask for it.’” At that point Miller remembered the president telling him, “‘You do what you need to do. You do what you need to do.’ He said, ‘You’re going to need 10,000.’ That’s what he said. Swear to God.”

Shortly after the sentencing of Nicolas Sarkozy, Donald J. Trump issued a statement claiming that prison time for the ex-President of France sets a “horrible precedent.”

In the statement, Trump called the corruption case against Sarkozy a “rigged hoax” and claimed that the former French leader was being treated “very unfairly.”

“This should never be allowed to happen in that country,” he said.

Trump said that he was currently mulling options to help Sarkozy, including running for President of France himself in order to issue its ex-President a pardon.

Reacting to the statement, the current French President, Emmanuel Macron, said that the most remarkable thing was that Trump spelled both “President” and “precedent” correctly.

Days before the Capitol riot on January 6, President Trump personally requested that 10,000 National Guard troops be deployed at the Capitol over concerns of the crowd size, he revealed on “The Next Revolution With Steve Hilton” on Fox News Sunday evening. He said the request was denied over the optics that the troops’ presence would create.

We actually req—I requested, I said, ‘look, this rally is going to be bigger than anyone thinks,’ because everyone I’d see says, ‘we’re going to be at the rally, we’re going to be at the rally,’ and I think it was the largest crowd I’ve ever spoken to before, and I’ve spoken to very big crowds. Hundreds of thousands of people,” Trump explained. “And I said, ‘you should have 10,000’—I think I gave the number. I definitely gave the number—’you should have 10,000 National Guardsman. I think you should have 10,000 of the National Guard ready.’ They took that number, from what I understand. They gave it to the people at the Capitol, which is controlled by Pelosi, and I heard they rejected it because it wouldn’t look good.”

“So, you know, that was a big mistake,” Trump added.

Pelosi’s office didn’t respond to an inquiry from Fox News about Trump’s claim, but last month, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows had told a similar story to Maria Bartiromo of the Fox Business Network—that Trump had issued a “direct order” to have up to 10,000 National Guard troops available for his rally.

The Supreme Court will hear arguments on Tuesday over a set of Arizona voting restrictions alleged to be racially discriminatory in a dispute that could set the most important voting rights precedent in nearly a decade.

A potentially landmark ruling in the coming months may determine whether a suite of voting curbs working their way through GOP state legislatures across the country will survive legal scrutiny before the pivotal 2022 midterms and the next race for the White House.

For the 6-3 conservative-majority court, the case marks a first chance to define the sweep of a key provision of the Voting Rights Act (VRA). That provision, Section 2, makes it illegal to enact laws that place an unequal burden on the franchise of racial minorities.

Civil rights groups say it’s crucial that the justices use the Arizona case to give a robust reading to Section 2 in light of a past Supreme Court ruling that narrowed safeguards for minority voters.

The Republicans have been upset about the three appointees haven't kept the former in office.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Incumbent presidential races are typically consolidating elections as the party in power reinforces gains from four years earlier. The Trump years are a rare exception, as Mr. Trump never reached a job approval rating above 50% despite his policy achievements. The public dislike is personal.

Republicans lost the House in 2018 as suburban voters fled to check Mr. Trump. He proceeded to lose the White House on Nov. 3, and he cost the GOP two Georgia Senate races on Jan. 5 as he made his claims of election fraud the main issue rather than checking Mr. Biden and Nancy Pelosi. Mr. Trump essentially told his Georgia supporters their votes didn’t matter, and many stayed home. The GOP lost the Senate.

Mr. Trump is now trying to rewrite this history as someone else’s fault—Democrats who cheated, Republicans who won’t “fight,” a cowardly Supreme Court that includes three of his appointees, anyone but himself. This isn’t true, as another Trump pollster, Anthony Fabrizio, made clear in his post-election analysis. Mr. Trump had one landmark victory in 2016 but he has cost the GOP dearly since.

Mr. Trump said Sunday that he won’t form a third party because it would divide the center-right coalition and elect Democrats. But he also laid out his political enemies list and is clearly bent on revenge against anyone who voted to impeach or convict him or disagrees with his election claims. These intra-party fights will sap GOP energy and resources when their priority now should be retaking Congress in 2022.

Mr. Trump’s base of support means he will play an important role in the GOP. But as the Biden months roll on and the policy consequences of the 2020 defeat become stark, perhaps the party’s grassroots will begin to look past the Trump era to a new generation of potential standard-bearers. As long as Republicans focus on the grievances of the Trump past, they won’t be a governing majority.

Guess who?

So, you know, that was a big mistake.”
—Former president Donald Trump, in an interview with Steve Hilton of Fox News, Feb. 28, 2021
We’re going to try to have a high bar for fact checks of former president Donald Trump. His speech Sunday to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was mostly a replay of false claims he has said many times before, all documented in our Trump claims database. So we took a pass on that.
But this is something new. Trump’s claim generated a lot of attention in right-leaning circles, especially after Fox News headlined its story: “Trump says he requested 10K National Guard troops at Capitol on day of riot.”

A large majority of senators — even those who did not vote to convict him at his impeachment trial — regard Trump as responsible for the riot and believe he failed to act decisively as the violence unfolded. So it would be significant if Trump actually requested the dispatch of National Guard troops at the Capitol — especially if, as Trump suggests, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) then blocked that deployment.
But it did not happen.

tell the rest of the story you stole from "the hill" alky -

One of the two disputed restrictions deals with ballots that are cast at the wrong polling place or precinct. Arizona’s out-of-precinct rule required elections officials to throw away any miscast ballot in its entirety rather than preserve valid votes for federal or statewide office and discard only votes that were erroneously cast for local office.

The 9th Circuit Court ruled 7-4 that the restriction failed the “results test” of the VRA’s Section 2.

“Wholly discarding, rather than counting or partially counting, out-of-precinct ballots, [has] a discriminatory impact on American Indian, Hispanic, and African American voters in Arizona,” the court ruled.

The other limit makes it illegal for most third parties to collect and deliver ballots to polling places. The practice, which voting rights advocates refer to as “community ballot collection,” is dubbed by critics as “ballot harvesting.”

The 9th Circuit ruled that this too failed Section 2’s results test — as well as its more stringent “intent test.”

With an aggressive timeline set by Democratic leadership in congress, final passage of the $1.9 Trillion COVID relief package could come in early March, likely in advance of the expiration of enhanced unemployment insurance which ends on March 14.

In the past year, Congress approved five different COVID relief packages on a bipartisan basis totaling more than $3 trillion and signed by President Trump each time. Taking a cue from the stimulus fights of the Obama era, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is actively working to keep every member of his caucus in line against Biden’s first signature piece of legislation. As CNN points out, however, McConnell’s machinations behind the scenes “amounts to a political risk for Republicans with polls showing clear majorities of Americans supporting an emergency rescue package and with the economy still reeling from the coronavirus pandemic.”

The stimulus package remains remarkably popular by a wide margin of American voters, despite nascent attempts by GOP lawmakers to paint the legislation as too expensive or unfocused. Morning Consult and Politico last week published new polling data indicating that 76 percent of voters back the current $1.9 Trillion plan, including more than 60 percent of Republican voters.

They will pay the price in 2022

The Biden administration’s Bureau of Land Management has rescinded a new permit for grazing on public lands granted to two Oregon arsonist ranchers pardoned by Donald Trump.

The arson convictions of Dwight Hammond and his son Steven for torching public lands was at the center of an armed takeover in 2016 of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, which led to a 41-day armed standoff with federal authorities. The assault was led by militant rancher brothers Ryan and Ammon Bundy.

Despite the record of violence, Trump Interior Secretary David Bernhardt granted the Hammonds a new grazing permit on Trump’s last day in office. The permit would have allowed the ranchers’ livestock to use public land for 10 years.

The Biden administration blocked the permit Friday, a day after environmental groups sued, arguing the Trump government ignored legal requirements, reported Oregon Public Radio. The Biden administration cited the same concerns in its notice rescinding the permit.

The Hammonds were sentenced to a minimum prison term of five years in 2015. Steve Hammond’s nephew testified that his uncle handed out matches and told members of a hunting party to drop lighted matches on the ground to “light up the whole country in fire,” apparently to cover up the illegal slaughter of deer on taxpayer land. The blazes burned 139 acres.

The Hammonds’ arson conviction led to the revocation of their previous grazing permit. Trump pardoned the Hammonds in 2018.

Cuomosexual

Someone who possesses a powerful urge to engage in various sexual behaviors with a member of the Cuomo family. It is unclear if this novel sexual orientation is COVID19-specific and temporary or if it will remain as an add-on to pre-existing sexual preferences. Cuomosexuals also identify as heterosexual, bisexual, pansexual, or homosexual, therefore engagement in mundane sexual behaviors with significant others can resume simultaneously . Interviews with Cuomosexuals consistently reveal that urges began in Mid-March and peek during COVID19 pandemic press conferences and/or news broadcasts. Hypothesized social causes include increased time alone in bed watching split screen images of said siblings during COVID19 pandemic.
When I couldn't get wet without my CNN fix, I realized I had become a Cuomosexual. After breaking the news to my husband, he pushed my head down and declared he was too!
