Everyone knew this was coming, given how pathetic the ratings were for the Golden Globes and the Grammys, but even so, the viewership numbers are a shocking disaster for the Academy Awards broadcast. After last year’s rock-bottom viewership hit 23.6 million and the top award went to a Korean film, Parasite, the average person hadn’t even heard of, this year’s Oscars went full woke. You never go full woke . . .
Ratings crashed 58 percent off last year’s abysmal viewership, down to 9.85 million Americans. Let that sink in: In a nation of 330 million, not even ten million Americans watched the Oscars. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ strategy of embracing diversity as a supposed means to bring in younger viewers has proven a complete failure: Ratings were down even more for young adults. In the 18–49 demographic, ratings crashed 64 percent. The star power is gone. The glamour is gone. The public interest is gone.
This isn't just movies and awards shows. This is everything having to do with "celebrities" thinking it's cool to be woke. I record the "Good Doctor" as one of the few shows I still watch. Generally it will change my channel to ABC and often times I turn on my cable only to see Jimmy Kimmel starting his dialogue or interviewing a guest. I kid you not that nearly every time I see the man, he is still trying to tell Donald Trump jokes and pretty much making everything political. Perhaps that is why his ratings show that on average an abysmal 1.6 million people watch his show.
Not that this seems to matter. Whether or not anyone watches a show, buys a product, or otherwise uses a service really seems to matter very little to the growing woke leadership of big corporations, Hollywood, and the media. Better to be on the left side of politics than to make money. Or possibly a better way of looking at it would be to argue that between money and power, that the new generation of leaders are attempting to expand the latter at the expense of the former.
If you don't believe me, then explain why it is that while it must have become obvious to these celebrities that their injection of politics into everything has turned everyone off on them, which is why the ratings for these shows continue to plummet. Yet, they double down on their politics as if they really don't care. Perhaps they either don't look at the events for ratings (just for how much they fawn over each other). Perhaps they are blaming something else. But the reality is that most Americans are sick and tired of politics being injected into everything.

Starting today across the state of Michigan, two-year-olds at daycare facilities will be required to mask up, thanks to an order from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Kids from ages 2-4 will now be subjected to mask requirements just like the rest of Michigan citizens, according to MDHHS representative Bob Wheaton, who told MLive.com that two-year-olds will be required to wear a mask at a park just like 18-year-old senior in high school.
The new rules will require daycare workers to keep masks on two-year-olds. One daycare worker told Mid-Michigan Now that she’s concerned for the two-year-olds who are learning from teacher facial expressions and expressions from classmates. “Something might be super exciting and fun, but they can’t see that so they don’t know how to react,” Nicole Bellanger from Lady Di Daycare told the news channel.
Bellanger added that three-year-olds at the facility are speaking less since they started wearing face masks. “The mask will definitely put an impact on that. So we won’t be able to know what they say or what they want so that will make more behavioral issues because they can’t talk. So kind of like how babies cry because they have no other way of communicating now these 2-year-olds are going to have that same thing, so they’ll stop talking as much,” said Bellanger.
Yet still, the state says it’s time to mask up the two-year-olds through May 24 when the order is set to expire.

The story so far: the AZ GOP Senate, pondering ways of keeping alive the Big Lie that the state’s electoral votes were stolen from TFG, “used its subpoena power to take possession of all 2.1 million ballots in Maricopa County and the machines that counted them, along with computer hard drives full of data.”
They ordered the “audit,” despite the fact that three previous recounts had shown no problems, and no evidence of fraud. Despite that, the GOP senators insisted on a hand recount of 2.1 million ballots cast in the county that represents two-thirds of the vote statewide.
This is where it gets even stranger. “They've handed the materials over to Cyber Ninjas, a Florida-based consultancy with no election experience, run by a man who has shared unfounded conspiracy theories claiming the official 2020 presidential election results are illegitimate.”
The NYT has some details:
The head of Cyber Ninjas, the Florida-based firm that Republican senators hired to oversee the audit, has embraced Mr. Trump’s baseless theories of election theft and has suggested, contrary to available evidence, that Mr. Trump actually won Arizona by 200,000 votes. The pro-Trump cable channel One America News Network has started a fund-raiser to finance the venture and has been named one of the nonpartisan observers that will keep the audit on the straight and narrow.
Predictably, the “audit” has so far been a clusterf*ck.
The audit has been beset by amateur mistakes that critics view as evidence the auditors are not up to the task. Hand counters began the day using blue pens, which are banned in ballot counting rooms because they can be read by ballot machines. Now, the small community is grieving for a teacher her colleagues say was ingrained in the fabric of their school system and a matriarch her family says was the center of their world.
"It just feels like a bad dream that I can't wake up from," Jesse Byrd said. "We've just felt so lost without her."
The teachers who survived also say Byrd's death is a stark reminder of the risks teachers will face if school reopens too soon.
"Everything is safety, safety, safety," said Jena Martinez-Inzunza, a Hayden-Winkelman teacher. "What a contradiction to be threatened by the president. What a contradiction to be bullied: 'Do this, or I'm going to pull funding.' What a contradiction to say our kids lives matter … Why would you push to open schools?"
The news of Byrd's death comes as President Donald Trump wages a campaign to reopen schools on time, even suggesting federal funding from schools that don't open could be ''cut off.''
Arizona's schools are usually some of the earliest in the nation to open. But many teachers and school officials have said they're not ready to go back and do not believe schools are ready for students to crowd hallways and struggle with masks.
Three teachers in one classroom
Byrd's district conducts summer school every year. Usually, teachers put together fun science-based lessons for students, said Angela Skillings, one of the three teachers who tested positive for COVID-19. This year proved to be different: As a pandemic raged, summer school was moved online.
Skillings, Martinez-Inzunza and Byrd taught their summer class together, the students a mix of kindergartners, first- and second-graders.
The educators decided to teach virtually while together in the same classroom, but took what they thought were extensive measures: They wore masks, they disinfected equipment and kept distance between each other.
"We were very careful," Skillings said.
They still wanted to bring hands-on activities to the kids. They delivered small care packages to students containing beans, so the children could sprout beans in a small plastic bag in the windows of their home.
They simulated pollination by touching hot Cheetos to paper bees. The lessons were a way to bring some of the usual fun of summer school home to kids. The teachers would take turns at the front of the classroom, and spend a few hours together every day planning lessons.
Byrd was the first to become sick, shortly after a camping trip, her husband said — it was just the two of them in a camper. They had been diligent in staying home and isolating during the pandemic, he said.
