Will red states become redder and blue states become bluer?

NE Gov. Signs Proclamation to Make it a 2A Sanctuary State
Gov. Pete Ricketts on Wednesday signed a proclamation declaring Nebraska a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State.”
In the proclamation posted on the governor’s website, Ricketts again attacks the Biden administration’s recent push for new gun control measures and holds Congress accountable for the same.
“Nebraska will stand up against federal overreach and attempts to regulate gun ownership and use in the Good Life. The White House and U.S. Congress have announced their intention to pursue measures that would infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.
A growing number of counties in Nebraska have declared themselves as ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ counties. Nebraska will continue to take any necessary step to defend our right to keep and bear arms.

So the culture war keeps on chugging along. Eventually people are going to have to make a decision as to whether they want to live in places like South Dakota or Nebraska, where their leaders believe in freedoms and personal responsibility. Or if they want to move to places like New York or California and have them taken away in the name political correctness.

No sense in having any sort of "civil war". Everyone just accepts the concept of State's rights and we can live in the environments we choose. Sound good to everyone?

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said Wednesday that she would not support former President Trump if he ran again in 2024.

Fox News’s Neil Cavuto directly asked Cheney, the third-highest ranking Republican in the House, if she would support Trump in 2024 on his show, Mediaite reported.

“I would not,” Cheney responded.

Cheney was one of 10 House Republicans to vote for Trump’s impeachment after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Cheney told Cavuto that Trump’s actions leading up to the riot “was the gravest violation of an oath of office by any president in American history."

“We can’t embrace insurrection. We can’t minimize what happened on Jan. 6,” she added.

Unless she's defeated, take Wyoming off your list of acceptable options.

As well as your home state of Minnesota.

Trump previously went after Cheney after her impeachment vote, urging Republicans to vote her out of office.

“So hopefully they’ll get rid of her with the next election,” Trump said. “Get rid of ‘em all.”

Cheney said after her impeachment vote that Trump does “not have a role as a leader of our party going forward.”

Trump has neither ruled out nor confirmed that he would try to run for the presidency again in 2024.

Cheney, who is gearing up for reelection in 2022, has raised a considerable amount of money despite calls from Trump to get her out of office, raking in $1.5 million in the first quarter of 2021.

That will buy a lot of political ads.

EYE ON THE NEWS
Merchants of RevolutionCalifornia’s ethnic studies initiatives train children in Marxist theory—and opposition to the American system.

Christopher F. Rufo

April 13, 2021

California public schools are embarking on a new experiment: education as social justice. Earlier this year, the state Department of Education approved an ethnic studies model curriculum, and individual school districts have begun to implement programs that advocate “decolonizing” the United States and “liberating” students from capitalism, patriarchy, and settler colonialism.

This will likely come as a surprise to most California residents, who may be familiar with the movement’s euphemisms—“ethnic studies,” “educational equity,” “culturally responsive teaching”—but do not understand the philosophical and political premises of these programs. As the state and many school districts begin to implement the state ethnic studies curriculum, however, details are emerging.

I have obtained documents from one such program, the Santa Clara County Office of Education’s Ethnic Studies Initiative, that paint a disturbing picture of the ethnic studies curriculum and the activists leading the charge. According to the documents and to sources within the district, the Office of Education held a series of teacher-training sessions on how to deploy ethnic studies in the classroom. The leaders, including district staff, an advisor for the state Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum, and a professor from San Jose State University, encouraged teachers to inject left-wing politics into the classroom and to hide controversial materials from parents.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

According to slides and contemporaneous notes from the session, the Santa Clara Office of Education began the presentation with a “land acknowledgement,” claiming that Santa Clara County and the public school system “occupy the unceded territory of the Muwekma Ohlone Nation, the sovereign nation and original people of the skies, land, and waters.” The premise of this ritual, which has become common in progressive organizations, is that the American government, founded by white settlers, is an illegitimate colonial power that should return the land to the Native American tribes.

Next, Jorge Pacheco, president of the California Latino School Boards Association and advisor for the state Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum, presented the movement’s conceptual framework. Pacheco explained that the ethnic studies curriculum is based on the work of Brazilian Marxist Paulo Freire, who invented the concept of the “pedagogy of the oppressed,” which holds that students must be educated to understand their oppression and develop the practical skills, or “praxis,” to challenge and eventually overthrow their oppressors. Pacheco acknowledged that the Marxist underpinnings to ethnic studies “scare people away” but insisted that teachers must be “grounded in the correct politics to educate students.”

Pacheco then argued that the United States is a political regime based on “settler colonialism,” which he describes as a “system of oppression” that “occupies and usurps land/labor/resources from one group of people for the benefit of another.” The settler colonialist regime, Pacheco continues, is “not just a vicious thing of the past, but [one that] exists as long as settlers are living on appropriated land.” The white colonialist regime of the United States is a “parasitic system” responsible for domestic violence, drug overdoses, and other social problems. In a related PowerPoint slide, Pacheco presented examples of this oppression, including “men exploiting women,” “white people exploiting people of color,” and “rich people exploiting poor people.”

What is the solution? Pacheco argues that teachers must “awaken [students] to the oppression” and lead them to “decodify” and eventually “destroy” the dominant political regime. The first step in this process is to help students “get into the mind of a white man” such as Christopher Columbus and analyze “what ideology led these white male settlers to be power and land hungry and justify stealing indigenous land through genocide.” Pacheco describes this process as transforming students into “activist intellectuals” who “decodify systems of oppression” into their component parts, including “white supremacy, patriarchy, classism, genocide, private property, and God

WE STAND FOR DEMOCRACY

A Government of the people, by the people. A beautifully American ideal, but a reality denied to many for much of this nation’s history. As Americans we know that in our democracy we should not expect to agree on everything. However, regardless of our political affiliations, we believe the very foundation of our electoral process rests upon the ability of each of us to cast our ballots for the candidate of our choice. For American democracy to work for any of us, we must ensure the right to vote for all of us. We should feel a responsibility to defend the right to vote and to oppose any discriminatory legislation or measures that restrict or prevent any eligible voter from having an equal and fair opportunity to cast a ballot. Voting is the lifeblood of our democracy and we call upon all Americans to join us in taking a nonpartisan stand for this most basic and fundamental right of all Americans.

LMAO:

The Alamance County (North Carolina) Sheriff's office said that Union Academy charter school boys' basketball coach Barney Harris was killed when he attempted to rob a drug cartel's stash house.

According to Sheriff Terry Johnson, Harris and another man identified as his brother-in-law went to the house in the early hours of April 8. There, the two men exchanged gunshots with members of a drug cartel they were allegedly attempting to rob.

Harris was killed during the shootout and an alleged member of the cartel later died after he was shot twice in the head.

"What we have here is two criminal enterprises … what was found was over 30 some shell casings in the trailer and outside of the trailer and three other mobile homes in that particular park with bullet holes in them," Johnson said at a news conference Tuesday.

As Putin amasses his army on the border of Ukraine in preparation of an invasion.

We're "led" by a doddering old fool and the world knows it.

VDH:

Wars often arise from uncertainty. When strong powers appear weak, truly weaker ones take risks they otherwise would not.

Sloppy braggadocio and serial promises of restraint alternatively trigger wars, too. Empty tough talk can needlessly egg on aggressors. But mouthing utopian bromides convinces bullies that their targets are too sophisticated to counter aggression.

Sometimes announcing “a new peace process” without any ability to bring either novel concessions or pressures only raises false hopes—and furor.

Every new American president is usually tested to determine whether the United States can still protect friends like Japan, Europe, South Korea, Israel, and Taiwan. And will the new commander-in-chief deter America’s enemies Iran and North Korea—and keep China and Russia from absorbing their neighbors?

Joe Biden, and those around him, seem determined to upset the peace they inherited.

Soon after Donald Trump left office, Vladimir Putin began massing troops on the Ukrainian border and threatening to attack.

Putin earlier had concluded Trump was dangerously unpredictable, and perhaps better not provoked. After all, the Trump Administration took out Russian mercenaries in Syria. It beefed up defense spending and upped sanctions.

The Trump Administration flooded the world with cheap oil to Russia’s chagrin. It pulled out from asymmetrical missile treaties with Russia. It sold sophisticated arms to the Ukrainians. The Russians concluded that Trump might do anything, and so waited for another president before again testing America.

In contrast, Biden too often talks provocatively—while carrying a twig. He has gratuitously called Putin “a killer.” And he warned that the Russian dictator “would pay a price” for supposedly interfering in the 2020 election.

Unfortunately, his bombast follows four years of a Russian-collusion hoax, fueled by a concocted dossier paid for by 2016 candidate Hillary Clinton. Biden and others swore Trump was—in the words of Barack Obama’s former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper—a “Russian asset.”

If Biden seeks to provoke a nation with 7,500 deliverable weapons, he is certainly not backing up his rhetoric with force.

He has cut military aid to Ukraine. And Biden may well decrease the Pentagon budget.

He seems to have forgotten that Trump was impeached for supposedly imperiling Ukraine, when in fact he sold to it the very weapons Biden and others in the Obama Administration had vetoed.

While Biden was talking loudly to Putin, his administration was serially humiliated by China. Beijing’s diplomats dressed down their American counterparts in a recent meeting in Anchorage, Alaska. They gleefully recycled domestic left-wing boilerplate that a racist America has no moral authority to criticize China.

If Trump was unpredictably blunt, Biden is too often predictably confused. And he appears frail, sending a message to autocracies that America’s commander-in-chief is not fully in control.

Sleepy Joe's bottom up economic recovery is great news for America.

Retail sales surged in March, the Commerce Department said on Thursday, as Americans spent their latest round of government stimulus checks and the continued roll out of coronavirus vaccines lured more people back into stores.

The 9.8 percent increase last month was a strong comeback from the nearly 3 percent drop in February, when previous stimulus money had dissipated and a series of winter storms made travel difficult across much of the United States.

The rebound in March sales shows how, a year after the nation’s economy locked down to prevent the spread of the virus, consumer spending remains highly dependent on government support. It also reflects that many areas of consumption frozen by the pandemic have bounced back. Sales of clothing and accessories rose 18 percent, while restaurants and bars saw a 13 percent increase.

President Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, which was signed into law last month, provides direct payments of $1,400 to lower-income Americans. Many of these checks began arriving in households toward the end of last month, when economists saw signs that spending was ramping up again, such as increased hotel occupancy and travel through airports.

U.S. retail sales—a measure of purchases at stores, at restaurants and online—jumped by 9.8% last month. Household incomes have benefited from recent fiscal stimulus measures that saw $1,400 checks hit some Americans’ bank accounts.

Fresh data also showed that 576,000 Americans applied for first-time unemployment benefits in the week ended April 10, a decrease from the 769,000 who applied in the week prior. The Federal Reserve has said employment is one of the factors it is watching to determine when to eventually lift interest rates.

An anticipated economic recovery has led some investors to buy shares of companies sensitive to a rebound, such as energy, travel and banks, which has helped send indexes to repeated record highs this year.
