The International Olympic Committee (IOC) banned athletes from wearing apparel with the slogan “Black Lives Matter.” Athletes can wear shirts with generic words: peace, respect, solidarity, inclusion, and equality. The IOC does not allow any “‘demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda’ on the playing field, the medal stand, or during the Games’ official ceremonies. Athletes cannot protest, which means they cannot raise a fist or kneel during the national anthem:
The IOC athletes’ commission cited support to uphold Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter from more than two-thirds of about 3,500 replies from consulting athlete groups. The IOC said 70% of athletes polled do not think it’s appropriate to demonstrate during competition, and 67% said it’s not appropriate either on the medal stand. Athletes breaching Rule 50 can be sanctioned by three bodies: the IOC, their sport’s governing body, and their national Olympic committee (NOC).So apparently athletes who decide to buck the rules and protest or otherwise demand that the world listen to their personal political opinions will be sent home. I think that is fair. Obviously the committee cannot physically stop someone from kneeling or raising a fist during a national anthem, but they can hit them with consequences for doing so.
So most certainly some people will attempt to enlighten us all with their brilliant political displays of taking a knee, wearing political propaganda, or what not... and they will be politely asked to go home. This is Tokyo, not New York. You have your stage to act like an idiot if you so choose. Your arrogance will have consequences.
Good!

Will this be the rule for the Beijing Olympics?
Technically the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that was delayed a year.
Sounds like when Monday Night Football was also played on Thursdays
Back when sports were sports
And hopefully we boycott China, genocide and forced labor camps should not be allowed nor profiting from them by the big corporate Biden supporters and his billionaire buddies.
And China should have to make restitution to the world for the China virus.
They're not good guys, guys

The conservatives went crazy in 1968 when they demonstrated that systematic racism existed in 1968.
Millions of eyes will be on the Games all over the world. It’s a tremendous stage — both for athletic triumph and possibly social change. Who can forget this image of Americans Tommie Smith and John Carlos with fists raised during the 1968 Olympic Games to protest racism.
US athletes Tommie Smith (C) and John Carlos (R) raise their gloved fists in the Black Power salute to express their opposition to racism in the USA during the US national anthem, after receiving their medals on Oct. 17, 1968 for first and third place in the men’s 200m event at the Mexico Olympic Games. But the Olympics continue to ban athlete protests and could punish athletes who choose to protest anyway. That means raising a fist or kneeling during the national anthem as many professional U.S. athletes have done over the past year risks punishment.
Those athletes could even be sent home.
IOC bans ‘Black Lives Matter’ gear
The International Olympic Committee got very granular with what is not allowed. It said specifically that the slogan “Black Lives Matter” will be banned from athlete apparel at the Summer Olympics.
It’s part of the IOC’s long-standing ban on “demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda” on the playing field, the medal stand or during the Games’ official ceremonies.
More generic words like “peace,” “respect,” “solidarity,” “inclusion” and “equality” will be allowed on T-shirts.

Athletes breaching Rule 50 can be sanctioned by three bodies: the IOC, their sport’s governing body, and their national Olympic committee (NOC).
The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee pledged in December not to sanction athletes for peacefully protesting at the Olympic trials.
Many groups have promised legal support for athletes who protest. The World Players Association union said the IOC’s decision was a move it expected.
“Any athlete sanctioned at the Tokyo Olympics will have the full backing of the World Players,” said Brendan Schwab, the union’s executive director.
And the group Global Athlete also issued a statement, encouraging athletes to “not allow outdated ‘sports rules’ to supersede your basic human rights.”
I understand why the athletes why they don't want political content in the Olympics.
My orders to Scott!

Warmonger Liz Cheney, who has virtually no support left in the Great State of Wyoming, continues to unknowingly and foolishly say that there was no Election Fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election when in fact, the evidence, including no Legislative approvals as demanded by the U.S. Constitution, shows the exact opposite. Had Mike Pence referred the information on six states (only need two) back to State Legislatures, and had gutless and clueless MINORITY Leader Mitch McConnell (he blew two seats in Georgia that should have never been lost) fought to expose all of the corruption that was presented at the time, with more found since, we would have had a far different Presidential result, and our Country would not be turning into a socialist nightmare! Never give up!
This huge lie is the reason why Facebook has banned him again.
He is inciting violent protests against Biden and Kamala Harris rrb's favorite gf
The no life alcoholic who spends his entire life here, even though he supposedly 2 blocks from the beach
Pitiful
Actually 4 blocks from PCH
The growing effort to remove Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from the third-ranking Republican leadership position in the House further accelerates her party’s full capitulation to Donald Trump’s big lie about the 2020 election. The move against Cheney is a sign of political cowardice. While shocking, it is not surprising for a party that has lost its way.
The majority of Republican appear to have stopped believing in truth — or lack the courage to speak thecoldheartedtruth.
She's a courageous woman, and most Republicans are scared of strong women.
Hillary Clinton beat the former in the election numbers.
Scott hasn't really distanced himself from the big lie. But despite that you aren't running for office, why do you continue to miss him.
Hillary Clinton beat the former in the election numbers.
Yet she found herself wandering through the woods behind her house swilling two buck chuck.
LOL.
THWAP!!!

Suddenly you're a big fan of republicans, eh alky?

Riding daddy's coattails doesn't require any courage. All it requires is the coattails.
It's a mixed bag but the economy is rising as rapidly in history.
The inflation rate on some foods and gasoline prices aren't nearly as high as in the late 70s.
U.S. stocks rebounded on Wednesday as strong earnings results and economic optimism pushed the major averages higher as the trading day went on.
The Dow Jones Industrial average was up 144 points, after trading into the red earlier in the day. The S&P 500 gained 0.5%, also making up earlier losses. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.6% as chip stocks and other major tech companies rebounded.
General Motors shares climbed 3.4% in early trading after earnings blew past expectations. Activision Blizzard traded higher by 3% after strong results.
Commodity stocks jumped with the Energy Select Sector SPDR and the Materials Select Sector SPDR notching the biggest gains among sectors. Chevron, Dow and Caterpillar were the three biggest gainers in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. ConocoPhillips popped more than 5% thanks in part to an upgrade to buy from Bank of America.
Oil prices rose, with futures for the U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate topping $66 per barrel, after data from the American Petroleum Institute showed a sharp drawdown in U.S. oil inventory
The recent surge in commodities prices, including lumber and corn, is increasing inflation expectations and making cyclical stocks more attractive, said Andrew Smith, the chief investment strategist at Delos Capital Advisors in Dallas.
“We’ve seen inflation beneficiaries shoot through the roof ... That’s going to lead real rates higher and that’s going to be the source for those cyclical trades to continue to work,” Smith said.

Even optimistic scientists can be scarred. Fauci was, and still is, vilified by people who didn’t like his message, who deny the coronavirus’ severity, even its existence. As scientists learned more about the virus, their advice changed — with the most memorable example being the changing guidance on wearing masks. Millions of people understood that scientists were making decisions grounded in the best knowledge available at the time. But others attacked, calling Fauci a flip-flopper, a liar, a charlatan. Sometimes we heard that from then-President Donald Trump himself, the sixth president Fauci had served. Biden makes seven.
“The degree of divisiveness in this country is the last thing in the world you’d want when you are trying to fight the common enemy of a virus,”
