In a typical year prior to the pandemic, the FAA reports that they generally received between 100 and 150 “passenger misconduct” incident reports. In the first four months of 2021, they have received 2,500, with more than 1,900 being specific to the mask mandate. That’s not an “uptick.” That’s an increase of more than 1,000%.
I’m not in any way endorsing violence against flight attendants as a solution to a passenger’s issues. The people who do this need to be held accountable. Those flight crews didn’t make those rules, but are simply the unfortunate souls who were put in charge of enforcing them on the front lines.
There comes a time when these airlines sort of have to look in the mirror and wonder if some of this has something to do with themselves? We are not hearing massive issues with mask fights in restaurants, or mask fights in Targets, or Starbucks, or most any other place where masks are mandated. But we do hear about them on planes... all the time.
Now I have twice traveled on a plane since Covid. That was four separate plane trips. On every one of those plane trips I had to endure what wasn't just a mask mandate, but the constant hypervigilance of the flight attendants spending 90% of their times hassling people about their masks."Sir, can you make sure your mask is higher up on your face."
"Ma'am, can you make sure you put your mask back on in between your bites of your sandwich."
"Sir, Ma'am, Sir, Ma'am, Sir, Ma'am...
Bu about the third or fourth time a different attendant told me my mask needed to higher up on my face (it was clearly covering my nose and mouth) I was getting pretty close to being one of those people who goes off. On the flight where I brought my son, both my son, myself, and several around us were told multiple times that we were not wearing our masks "properly" even as this is exactly the way I have worn a mask everywhere else, even to medical appointments. If it is good enough for a doctor or dentist, then it is good enough for a plane.
So it's not that the planes have a mask mandate. It's specifically the attitudes of the flight attendants. Not sure if there is some sort of special school of condescendence they are forced to attend or if they are just naturally that way, but these were not happy friendly people that flight attendants usually appear to be. If they are just "following the rules" of flight travel, then those rules need a serious adjustment.
More to the point, I don't generally fly coach. So when you hassle people who pay good money to upgrade their flight experience, you are likely hassling and being condescending to people who are largely successful and largely competent people, who are not going to react well to a flight attendant constantly telling them that their mask is too low or that they cannot eat or drink without putting their mask on and off and on and off.
Perhaps that was part of the problem in all of this. Flight attendants suddenly felt like they had this new found power to hassle and otherwise appear condescending to those who may have looked down on or were condescending to them, previously? I don't know. I generally get along well with flight attendants and generally even end up in conversations with them. But not on these past couple of trips.

This is REALLY stupid.
Of course we should wear masks on planes.
Not all people are vaccinated, some are, some aren't. Some have had Covid, some haven't.
Requiring masks on planes just makes sense.
A no brainer, except for the brainless.
I should think anyone would be glad flight attendants are being conscientious about the proper wearing of masks.
I see signs in our library and in stores pointing out that masks should cover both the nose and the mouth.
If Donald Trump had saved a multitude of lives by stepping forward as an early advocate for the wearing of masks, Ch would be loudly praising those flight attendants.

Biden must repay China for his presidency.
"President Joe Biden shut down a State Department probe this spring into the origins of COVID-19 in China that was launched by the Trump administration under Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last fall, according to a CNN report Tuesday."
CNN)President Joe Biden said Wednesday he has directed the US intelligence community to redouble their efforts in investigating the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic and report back to him in 90 days.
The announcement comes after a US intelligence report found several researchers at China's Wuhan Institute of Virology fell ill in November 2019 and had to be hospitalized -- a new detail that fueled further debate about the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.
"As part of that report, I have asked for areas of further inquiry that may be required, including specific questions for China. I have also asked that this effort include work by our National Labs and other agencies of our government to augment the Intelligence Community's efforts. And I have asked the Intelligence Community to keep Congress fully apprised of its work," Biden said in a statement.
The President said: "The failure to get our inspectors on the ground in those early months will always hamper any investigation into the origin of COVID-19."
Biden said in the statement that in March he directed his national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, to task the intelligence community with preparing a report on the most up-to-date analysis of the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic, including whether the virus emerged from human contact with an infected animal or from a laboratory accident. Biden said he received that report earlier this month and asked for additional follow-up.
"As of today, the U.S. Intelligence Community has 'coalesced around two likely scenarios' but has not reached a definitive conclusion on this question. Here is their current position: 'while two elements in the IC leans toward the former scenario and one leans more toward the latter -- each with low or moderate confidence -- the majority of elements do not believe there is sufficient information to assess one to be more likely than the other,' " Biden said in the statement.

Mel Brooks should remake Young Frankenstein in regards to this report.
Dr. Victor Frankenstein Frankensteen would understand what House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is feeling as he watches his party’s own creation careen across the political landscape, leaving wreckage and mayhem at every turn.
When a trove of lunatic social media postings that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) made before she was elected to Congress came to light in January, McCarthy invited her to his office for what his spokesman described as “a conversation.”
As a supporter of the QAnon movement, Greene had spread conspiracy theories that included claims that the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas and the 2018 school shooting in Parkland, Fla., were hoaxes and that Hillary Clinton mutilated and murdered a child during a satanic ritual. She also endorsed calls for the murders of federal agents and her Democratic colleagues, including giving a “like” when a commenter on her Facebook feed suggested that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) might be removed with “a bullet to the head.”
This Republican was the first to understand the origin of the covid-19 virus.
Jan 30 2020, Sen. Tom Cotton, speaking at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, says: “This coronavirus is a catastrophe on the scale of Chernobyl for China. But actually, it’s probably worse than Chernobyl, which was localized in its effect. The coronavirus could result in a global pandemic.” He adds: “I would note that Wuhan has China’s only biosafety level-four super laboratory that works with the world’s most deadly pathogens to include, yes, coronavirus.”
He is one of few Republicans who are not insane as you know who...

The climate lockdowns be Scott's next bonkers conspiracy theory
Laura Ingraham told viewers that, in the name of climate change, more COVID-style lockdowns are coming
On back-to-back nights last week, Fox prime-time host Laura Ingraham warned her viewers that COVID-19 lockdowns were conditioning the public for even more stringent mandates in the name of climate change. It wasn’t the first time this claim was made on her show, nor is she the only one on Fox News message-testing this idea, which is fast becoming a favorite of prolific conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones.
To be clear, the idea that the power-hungry radical left has manufactured the climate crisis to seize control over every aspect of American life is not a new conspiracy theory; rather, it is one that takes on many forms, whether fearmongering about the Green New Deal or insisting that President Joe Biden is going to take away your hamburgers. Climate lockdowns is just another iteration.

Where does it say that people should not have to wear masks or that anyone was complaining about wearing masks.
On very plane trip I took (and perhaps none of you liberal travel) - everyone was wearing masks at all times other than when eating or drinking (which was allowed) and all of the masks were covering both the nose and the mouth.
But it didn't stop the attendants from going around telling everyone that they were wearing them improperly or not eating or drinking properly.
Perhaps if Roger got out of his room with a television, or Denny got out of his Mother's basement, or the Reverend got out of his home town, you may have been able to experience the wonders of plane travel during Covid.
Then you might get a sense why there have been over 1900 separate instances in four months between passengers and personnel. It's not because people are refusing to wear masks. They are probably badgered half to death about "how" they were wearing it.
Can't wait to get back on a plane and not having to wear a mask.
Of course I "have" proof of my two Covid vaccines!
So apparently I am legal.
Democrats are getting increasingly nervous about 'woke' culture, analysts say
A New York Times opinion writer wondered in a new op-ed on Wednesday if the progressive cancel culture push will backfire on Democrats at the polls, and he isn't the only analyst asking the question.
"Is Wokeness ‘Kryptonite for Democrats?’" Times contributor Thomas Edsall's headline asked.
Edsall quoted several surveys finding most people are against the more radical campaigns, such as efforts to defund the police and upend traditional gender norms. And yet, he said, Republicans can still point to the extreme minority that is pushing these ideas to argue that the Democratic Party is increasingly beholden to the radicals.
Boy it would be nice if anyone of the stooges actually read a post before commenting on it like a bunch of fools!

Republicans hate the voice of the people.
Arizona Republicans passed a measure on Tuesday to strip Democrat Katie Hobbs, the current secretary of state, of her ability to defend election lawsuits, a seemingly partisan retaliation for her sharp criticism of the party's controversial election audit.
The bill, which passed both the state's House and Senate Appropriations committees, puts the attorney general, Republican Mark Brnovich, in charge of defending all lawsuits through January 2, 2023, which is around the end of his and Hobbs’ current terms.
“The legislature intends that the attorney general make all strategic decisions regarding election litigation and be allowed to intervene on behalf of this state if the attorney general determines, in the attorney general's sole discretion, that the intervention is appropriate,” according to the bill.
The bill also states that the attorney general cannot represent or provide legal advice to the Secretary of State, which is generally the chief elections administrator, or the Department of State on any matters through June 30, 2023. But it allows the secretary to hire one full-time “equivalent position” to serve as legal advisor to represent them, but blocks the secretary from “spending or incurring indebtedness to employ outside or private attorneys to provide representation or services.”
This measure, which has to pass the full legislature, comes as Senate Republicans are leading a 2020 election audit of the state’s largest county. They have hired several firms to conduct the audit, which is led by Cyber Ninjas, a Florida-based firm that has no experience auditing elections and is run by a supporter of former President Donald Trump who has promoted baseless election conspiracies.

Paul Waldman: “Ask any Republican in Washington and they’ll tell you they are standing amidst a rushing river of progressive policy changes, desperately trying to hold back the socialist onslaught emanating from the Biden administration and congressional Democrats.
“But the truth is that the months since Biden took office and Democrats won total control of Congress has been characterized by a remarkable degree of restraint.
“If you want to see what it looks like when a party really uses its power, you have to turn your gaze to the state level, particularly in a few places where Republicans have firm control of state government despite enjoying only tenuous majorities of support among the voters.”
The Republicans might change their minds about immigration, because a lot more white people are avoiding the Trump wall.

The WHO took China's word for it there was no person-to-person transmission of Covid in January 2020. The WHO later took China's word for it Covid didn't come from the Wuhan lab. So asking the WHO to investigate again is really asking China to investigate China.
Biden stops actual investigation and is asking WHO to "investigate"

Prosecutors have also been closely examining the finances of Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, as well as benefits received from the company by him and his son Barry, a longtime employee of the Trump Organization.
ABC was first to report on a witness being contacted. The Washington Post reported Tuesday that the grand jury Vance's office has convened is a special grand jury. This type of grand jury is typically used to hear complex, long-term fraud and corruption cases. A special grand jury sits longer than a standard grand jury -- usually three to six months, versus just one -- and, if needed, the jurors can vote to extend its term even further.
Sign Me
CNN has reached out to Allen and Barry Weisselberg for comments.
The use of a special grand jury suggests that Vance could be seeking to charge Trump, company executives or the company itself, according to former prosecutors in the office.
"It's very rare for there to be a special grand jury empaneled in Manhattan supreme court and for that jury not to consider charges at some point," said Daniel Alonso, a former prosecutor who was chief assistant district attorney in the Manhattan district attorney's office under Vance.
Adam S. Kaufmann, who served as chief of the office's investigative division, said that "it really suggests they've reached a point in their investigation where the district attorney believes there's evidence of a crime. You don't empanel a special grand jury unless you think you have a viable case."
The convening of this type of grand jury is common in complex cases, such as the Trump investigation, because, unlike with a federal grand jury, prosecutors cannot present hearsay evidence to a state grand jury.
This means prosecutors must call witnesses themselves to testify to the grand jury, rather than asking an FBI agent or another authority working on the case to summarize the evidence. Calling all of the witnesses in a sprawling case often takes much longer than a standard grand jury allows.
The lengthier time frame also provides the opportunity to compel witness testimony, a step Alonso said he would "absolutely expect" in a matter like the Trump investigation, in part because it forces witnesses to speak without being able to compare their version of events to anyone else's.

I’m at the airport for the first time in well over a year, and I see a few of the self proclaimed geniuses have decided that they don’t need to wear masks in the common area. Most of them are sitting at tables with a empty drink, looking pleased with their clever selves. I’m following my brother’s advice: he lives in a red state and has kept wearing his mask so he can mouth “fuck you” to all the maskholes.
Anyway, I hope one of these assholes decides to exercise “mah freedum” by pitching a fit on a flight — preferably not mine, but I do have a pretty long layover at my next connection, so I wouldn’t be upset if it happened. Then, after they get kicked off, I’ll wait for the next FAA press release announcing the fine they received. The latest group of yahoos got between $9-15K worth of fines. The $9K fine was for a maskhole who wouldn’t wear a mask, and threw the one that the flight attendant gave him on the ground. The $15K fines are for assaulting a flight attendant, or causing the FA to talk to the pilots — basically anything that interferes with crew duties.
I also look forward to the day that proof of vaccination is required to board an airplane. The bitching, moaning, crying and caterwauling of the “freedum” crowd will be sweet music to my ears on that glorious day.
I just went to NYC and back via Amtrak and we had to follow the political science and wear masks as well.
Proper wearing was not enforced, especially on the south bound trip as probably half the passengers had their schnozz hanging out over the top of the mask. no one gave a shit because we all knew it's for fucking show.
The trip home however was hilariously entertaining. I had some 400 pound African American woman, I believe the alky calls them "negroes," who talked on her cell phone the entire trip from Penn to Alb/Renns. 2.5 HOURS.
We'll call her "Laquishaniqua."
Laquishaniqua must have been a fine upstanding citizen and taxpayer since we were treated to an endless string of "N-Bombs", "F-Bombs" and what seemed like an endless recital of "all da ni@@ers she be slappin' da shit out of an' shit." We learned that she's been locked up several times, in both local jails and prison, and that she's been "outrunning the NYS probation system for 25 fuckin' years. An shit."
Oh, and we also learned that she "not bee gettin' dat vaccine shit an shit."
It warmed my heart to to revel in the fact that the rest of us were paying for her housing, food, "keeds," grand-"keeds," 0linskyphone, the tats we could see and the pot she had probably smoked just before boarding.
It was on this trip that I finally understood just how much her black life DOES matter, and that the combination of heart disease, diabetes, morbid obesity, high blood pressure, and who the fuck knows what else probably shortens it significantly, much to the relief of all of us who had to listen to her shit for the whole fucking ride. May she hitch a ride on Junkie Floyd's wings very, very soon.
And I can only conclude that it is in HER honor that Paste Eater Joe has the State Dept. flying BLM flags over embassies the world over.

A map of the precincts carried by Carter versus Reagan says it all: Carter carried black Mississippi; Reagan carried white.
Thirty-seven years later, Donald Trump would stand in another state, Alabama, where civil rights was a life-and-death struggle, and attack NFL players protesting police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem. “That’s a total disrespect of our heritage. That’s a total disrespect of everything that we stand for. Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, you’d say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired.’ ”11 In a state where more than three hundred African Americans were lynched, many for the simple crime of trying to vote or helping others vote, referencing “our heritage” and calling black protesters sons of bitches in front of an overwhelmingly white audience was the perfect kind of racial pitch. It was heard clearly and undeniably as racist.
It gave rrb an orgasm.

The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) released a partial memo from 2019 this week, per a federal judge’s orders, detailing how former Attorney General Bill Barr did not stop charges of obstruction of justice charges against former President Donald Trump because there was no basis for charges in the first place.
The memo shows lawyers at the OLC suggested that the allegations brought against the former president did not meet the standard of obstruction even before Barr would’ve determined prosecution.
“We recommend that you conclude that, under the Principles of Federal Prosecution, the evidence developed during the Special Counsel’s investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense,” the memo, signed by Barr in March 2019, stated. continues

Biden Prepared to Extend Infrastructure Talks.
May 26, 2021 at 8:19 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 75 Comments
“White House officials and other Democrats close to the bipartisan infrastructure talks are willing to let the negotiations stretch past their Memorial Day deadline — but not too far,”
Politico reports.
“Senate Republicans are slated to bring forward their latest proposal on Thursday, a plan that is unlikely to approach $1 trillion in new spending — making it far less palatable to the White House. There also are deepening doubts about an agreement on how to pay for the infrastructure spending package. Democrats are resistant to tapping leftover Covid-relief money, which the White House argues isn’t sufficient to cover the plan, anyway.”
BIDEN WILLING TO BE REASONABLE.
ARE REPUBLICANS?
MITCH JUST WANTS FAILURE.
WASHINGTON -- Heading into the Memorial Day travel weekend, House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy and other members of his party are falsely blaming President Joe Biden for higher gasoline and lumber costs.
Gas prices have risen in recent weeks because a key pipeline was forced to close after a cyberattack. And lumber shortages — which existed during former President Donald Trump's administration — were worsened by an unexpected housing boom.
Shortages have bedeviled the economy this spring, but most economists attribute the bulk of them to the difficulties of restarting the U.S. and global economies.
A look at the claims and reality:
MCCARTHY: “Despite gas prices being at historic lows this time last year, the average price for a gallon of gas is currently an astounding $3.10. That’s the highest it’s been since 2014, the last time Joe Biden was in the White House.” — blog post on Monday.
REPUBLICANS on the HOUSE BUDGET COMMITTEE: “Biden’s policies have led to the highest gas prices in six years.” — tweet Tuesday.
THE FACTS: Biden's policies aren't behind the price increases. Gas prices are up because of a rapid and unexpected bounce-back in demand, and because of lingering problems from the forced shutdown early this month of the Colonial Pipeline, which provides 45% of the fuel consumed on the East Coast.
McCarthy’s comparison to a year ago is also misleading. Gasoline prices didn’t fall at the time because of the Trump administration, as Trump often claims; they plunged because of the coronavirus forcing people to abandon their offices, schools, business trips and vacations. Underscoring the connection to the pandemic shutdown, U.S. gas prices were at their lowest in April 2020 when people were staying home most but have mostly risen since then, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration, even when Trump was still in office.
In recent weeks, the biggest factor has been the cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline. Even though it has been back in operation for nearly two weeks, many states, mostly in the South, still haven’t fully recovered.
Roughly one-quarter of gas stations in North and South Carolina and Georgia are without gas, according to GasBuddy.com, which tracks gas prices nationwide. In Florida, 9% of stations have run out and in Tennessee, it’s 14%. Overall, more than 6,000 stations have run out, Gas Buddy’s Patrick DeHaan says.
Prices have also increased because the economy has reopened much more quickly than most analysts expected. Stimulus payments to American households, including $1,400 checks that were distributed in March, have helped Americans ramp up spending.
Also noteworthy is while gas prices are at their highest level in six years, oil prices are still slightly below where they were in 2018. That suggests oil supplies are adequate and the refining and distribution of gasoline — through such networks as the Colonial Pipeline — are the problem.
The growing economy increased demand for gasoline kputz

One year after the movement to “defund” law enforcement began to upend municipal budgets, many American cities are restoring money to their police departments or proposing to spend more.
In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio said he would reinstate $92 million for a new precinct after scrapping the project last summer. The mayor of Baltimore, who led efforts as a city councilman to cut the police budget by $22 million last year, recently proposed a $27 million increase.
After attacks on Asian-Americans and a rise in homicides in Oakland, Calif., city lawmakers in April restored $3.3 million of the $29 million in police cuts, and the mayor is now proposing to increase the department’s budget by $24 million. Los Angeles’s mayor has proposed an increase of about $50 million after the city cut $150 million from its police department last year.
In the nation’s 20 largest local law-enforcement agencies, almost all of them are Democratic city and county leaders want funding increases for nine of the 12 departments where next year’s budgets already have been proposed. The increases range from 1% to nearly 6%.

Some of the price gains in lumber and other commodities reflect strong consumer demand for goods like housing and cars, which is actually a good sign for the economy. The Big lie that the 2020 election was stolen, and that President Biden is not legitimate, is not disappearing. A majority of Republican voters believe him.
That big lie is being used by Republican state legislatures to justify an all-out assault on the right to vote.
Hours after Florida enacted new voting restrictions, Texas’s Republican-led legislature pushed ahead with its own bill that would make it one of the hardest states in which to cast a ballot.
The Republican-controlled Arizona Senate launched a private recount of the 2020 presidential election results in Maricopa County – farming out 2.1 million ballots to GOP partisans with no experience in ballot counting or election monitoring. At least one person involved in the recount participated in the Capitol attack.
The Republican Party even purged one of its leaders, Wyoming representative Liz Cheney, for telling the truth about the election.
Meanwhile, Republican state legislatures are muscling their way into election administration, as they attempt to dislodge or bully local election officials who have always run our voting systems.
Trump’s big lie will continue to flourish unless the lawmakers who went along with it and have failed to renounce it face real consequences.
That means no book promotions, no cushy interviews, no guest op-eds in the Sunday paper.
What possible excuse is there for booking them if they have not publicly retracted their election lies? If they must appear, they should be asked if they continue to deny the election results and precisely why.
It also means a thorough independent 9-11 type inquiry into what happened, whether members of Congress were involved, how Donald Trump and others were involved.
Republican leaders must not duck this. History is watching.

When seeking the truth these days, the last place anyone needs to look is to the democrats as a mountain of lies seems to be your sole contribution to the national conversation.
Conclusions:
Mask mandates and use are not associated with slower state-level COVID-19 spread during COVID25 19 growth surges. Containment requires future research and implementation of existing efficacious strategies.
[...]
Prolonged mask use (>4 hours per day) promotes facial alkalinization and inadvertently encourages dehydration, which in turn can enhance barrier breakdown and bacterial infection risk. British clinicians have reported masks to increase headaches and sweating and decrease cognitive precision. Survey bias notwithstanding, these sequelae are associated with medical errors. By obscuring nonverbal communication, masks interfere with social learning in children. Likewise, masks can distort verbal speech and remove visual cues to the detriment of individuals with hearing loss; clear face-shields improve visual integration, but there is a corresponding loss of sound quality.

Former Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) is expected to knock former President Trump in a speech tonight at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library by urging members of his party to avoid rallying behind “one personality” or “second-rate imitations,”
Punchbowl News reports.
Ryan will say:
“Once again, we conservatives find ourselves at a crossroads. And here’s one reality we have to face. If the conservative cause depends on the populist appeal of one personality, or on second-rate imitations, then we’re not going anywhere.”

Why is there a shortage of electricity in California?
Why is California suddenly experiencing electricity shortages? The simple answer is that the state has rapidly expanded its reliance on wind and solar power. Both systems are dependent on the whims of the weather, and that's now putting the state's grid reliability in jeopardy.Aug 24, 2020"
The California Electricity needs for 2021 must come from other states.

It has long been obvious that Mitch McConnell puts party before country, but this week he actually admitted it.
He did the same thing during the Obama administration.
The Senate minority leader told Republican colleagues that they should oppose the creation of a Jan. 6 commission, no matter how it is structured, because it “could hurt the party’s midterm election message,” as Politico’s Burgess Everett reported.
And so, as early as Thursday, McConnell will use the filibuster to thwart a bipartisan effort to prevent further attacks on the U.S. government by domestic terrorists — because he thinks it’s good politics for Republicans.
“That is extremely frustrating and disturbing,” Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), the Democrat working hardest to protect the minority’s filibuster rights, told reporters. “There’s a time when you rise above [politics], and I’m hoping that this would be the time that he would do that. I guess, from what I am hearing, he hasn’t.”
Manchin has every right to be disturbed. But he shouldn’t be surprised.
McConnell, asked this month about the ouster of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from GOP leadership, and whether he was concerned that many Republicans believe Donald Trump’s election lie, replied, twice: “One hundred percent of my focus is on stopping this new administration.” True to his word, McConnell has blocked everything — even if it means undercutting Republican negotiators.
In addition to denouncing the Jan. 6 commission bill, negotiated by the ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, McConnell undercut Tim Scott (S.C.), the lone Black Republican in the Senate and McConnell’s designee to negotiate policing legislation. McConnell upended negotiations by announcing opposition to any bill that doesn’t preserve qualified immunity for police.

The grape farmer.
Before 2020, the Left demanded “proportional representation” in hiring and admissions. And if minority groups and women were not represented in the workplace according to their percentages of the American population, then prejudice was automatically assumed (“disparate impact”). Reparatory measures were then made to hire by race and gender.
“Affirmative action” was the euphemism for such quotas. It was nevertheless more or less institutionalized because proportional representation was not entirely illogical in a multiracial society. And there was still the common goal to follow Martin Luther King, Jr.’s notion of integration and assimilation to make race incidental not essential to who Americans are.
Not now. The foundations of the new woke race agenda are mostly anti-white. African American Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot recently decided not to call on reporters who were white. The city of Oakland’s entitlement payouts, like those of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are designed not to be distributed to white people.
A number of black intellectuals now openly envision American life segregated from whites—and far worse. The Nation’s Elie Mystal envisions his life as “whiteness free.” Damon Young, a senior editor of The Root and an occasional New York Times contributor, claims, “Whiteness . . . kills people.” And Barnard College English instructor Ben Philippe recently wrote a novel envisioning mass gassing and blowing up of white people.
Such hatred has never been condemned by Black Lives Matter or other civil rights groups. When the country returns to life after COVID will such 2020 venom still be tolerable?
Or for that matter, will the media be able to get away with not covering frequent attacks on Jews in major cities by mostly pro-Hamas or Arab American youth? Will they still be able to promulgate the lies that Asian American hate crimes are the work of white supremacists rather than overwhelmingly committed by young black males?
Before 2020, the American people tired of the media farces surrounding such events as the Duke lacrosse team, the lies about the Covington kids, and Jussie Smollett’s hoax about being attacked by white racists. Will they return to their earlier skepticism about media hype when it increasingly seems like the media and the government mostly lied when denying the possibility that the coronavirus leaked from a Wuhan lab engaged in “gain-of-function” engineering of dangerous viruses?
Will people still believe that “armed insurrectionists” on January 6, 2021 planned a “coup” and killed officer Brian Sicknick? As the hysteria fades, we are learning there were no arms anywhere. No one has been charged with treason, conspiracy, or insurrection. There are no conspiracy kingpins in custody. And Sicknick tragically died a day later from natural causes.
By the end of the year, will the media-hungry Anthony Fauci still be a national icon, as the country finally adds up his contradictory communiqués that were constantly changing and often flat-out wrong, without ever apologizing for his deliberate misinformation?
What will the country make of the formerly derided “conspiracy theory” that Fauci himself helped to steer U.S. funding to the Chinese viral lab in Wuhan, the birthplace of COVID-19, when it increasingly is shown to be true?
From March 2020 to March 2021 the country went through a mass hysteria. Despite its ideological pretensions, the collective insanity was not unlike the Tulip mania in early 17th-century Holland, the 1950s hula-hoop craze, or the great June bug hysteria of 1962.
But as Americans sober up, will they institutionalize or reject the frenzy remaining from the destructive stampede that took the country over the cliff during the most unhinged year in American history?

Republicans are passing laws to suppress the truth about slavery's enduring legacy
by Robin Abcarian
Wed, May 26, 2021, 5:00 AM·5 min read
What is so terrifying to Republicans about the reassessment of American history known as critical race theory?
Once an obscure academic theory, it has now taken its place alongside face masks and cancel culture as the bugaboo of conservatives who would rather do anything other than fix our broken immigration system, crumbling infrastructure and inadequate healthcare.
Pioneered in the 1970s and ’80s, and refined as the decades have passed, the theory posits that racial inequality is a baked-in feature of American institutions, which benefits what author Isabelle Wilkerson calls “the dominant caste,” i.e. white people.
Republicans, most of them white, are outraged at the suggestion.
“There’s no room in our classrooms for things like critical race theory,” said Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who like many in his party, is vying to become the successor to Donald Trump. “Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money.”
And the critics are not just talking. Last week, 20 Republican state attorneys general (representing seven of the 11 Confederate states), wrote a 10-page letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona objecting to proposed rules that would incorporate racially, ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse perspectives into American history and civics programs.
This, said the chief legal officers in states such as Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina, is a “thinly veiled attempt at bringing into our states’ classrooms the deeply flawed and controversial teachings of Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project,” which it described as “debunked.”
“Instead of teaching American history grounded in facts,” the rule would “prioritize an ideology that distorts American history. CRT supports the idea that America is a fundamentally racist country and that our institutions are inherently systematically racist.”
A number of Republican-dominated legislatures have piled on as well, proposing or passing laws that would prohibit teaching that America was founded on principles other than equality.
Isn’t it fascinating that some folks are so threatened by the idea that they benefit from the color of their skin that they can only see critical race theory as a racialized attack on them?
I honestly don’t know how you can look at disparities between the races in America and conclude anything other than that we live in a country that has blithely disadvantaged people of color for hundreds of years.
For example, there is what the Brookings Institution describes as
*"staggering disparities" between the net worth of Black and white households.
*A huge achievement gap between public schools that serve primarily white students and those that serve students of color.
*There are stunning differences between how white and Black neighborhoods are policed, and who is arrested, and imprisoned for which sorts of crimes. (See: historical differences in criminal penalties for crack cocaine versus powdered cocaine.)
And let’s not forget, here in the world’s richest nation, Black maternal mortality is three times the rate of maternal mortality for white women.
Given all that, it's impossible not to see the image of Derek Chauvin’s knee on George Floyd’s neck, his hand so casually draped in his pocket, as a shamefully apt metaphor for the way white people, or their institutions, have held Black people down.
So why not study it, teach it and confront it?
Critical race theory offers a valuable way of looking at the reasons for widespread racial inequality. It’s not even particularly radical.
“It's an approach to grappling with a history of white supremacy that rejects the belief that what's in the past is in the past, and that the laws and systems that grow from that past are detached from it," law professor Kimberlé Crenshaw recently told CNN. Crenshaw, who teaches at UCLA and Columbia law schools, helped pioneer the theory.
“Our founding ideals of liberty and equality were false when they were written,” wrote Nikole Hannah-Jones in her Pulitzer-Prize winning introduction to the 1619 Project. “Black Americans fought to make them true.”
ANYBODY THINKING OF MLK?
The 1619 Project contained what some historians declared were factual inaccuracies — including an exaggeration of the role that protecting slavery played in the Revolutionary War. But the project's reexamination of the country’s founding through the lens of how it exploited and mistreated enslaved people and their descendants was entirely worthy and remains a valuable tool for those looking to connect the past with present.
This country was indisputably founded on white supremacy, among other things, and that legacy has lived on in a million ways —
the Jim Crow era after Reconstruction,
lynchings,
redlining,
the civil rights struggles,
mass incarceration,
the backlash to the election of our first Black president and
now the efforts to suppress voting rights,
the refusal of Republicans to support a congressional investigation into the events of Jan. 6, which appear to have been orchestrated by white supremacists,
and the histrionics of conservatives over critical race theory.
“America is an old house,” writes Wilkerson. “We can never declare the work over. … Not one of us was here when this house was built … but here we are, the current occupants of a property with stress cracks and bowed walls and fissures built into the foundation. We are the heirs to whatever is right or wrong with it. We did not erect the uneven pillars or joists, but they are ours to deal with now.”
Yet the Republican establishment in this country, still beholden to former President Trump, whose own history of racism is irrefutable, is working hard to pretend the foundation has always been solid — and to force schools into line with their views.
These inappropriate state intrusions into the classroom are nothing more than an attempt to — yes — whitewash our history, pretend the law is color-blind and stop the clock, once again, on progress toward racial equality.

Fauci was wrong about this, just like he's been wrong about essentially everything else.
Well FAKE NEWS CNN is tied to the hip with him
That 8:14 is far, far, far more balanced and better than any of Ch's/Scottie's racistic thread rants against Critical Race Theory.

“Whiteness . . . kills people.”
Tulsa is just one example.
We are one species not black white or brown.
A white supremacist is the leader of the Republican party of Trump, not Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican President.
Your children and grandchildren will look back and wonder what the fuck were you thinking.

Biden is trying to say to an overseas audience that they should welcome “political dissent”.
Meanwhile, the US is crushing political dissent and Biden & his team are leading the attack.
Funny how Biden has pretty much accepted the Communist Chinese genocide and slave labor camps
As has much of the democrat party.
Glad to see Biden get caught stopping an investigation into the China virus origins.

Not the right black man
If you're black and don't vote democrat you ain't black.
At least in racist democrat eyes
In the next thread up I just invited Ch/Scottie to read the 8:14 opinion piece above to see how effectively it deconstructs his own racist (white supremacist?) rantings about Critical Race Theory.
In the next thread down I just posted a video blasting "journalism" in the Biden era. I guess if the lying POS "pastor" thinks this is proper posting I will too. It would possibly be the first thing he got right.
as if anyone cares
ROFLMFAO !!!
