"what's on the paper is just the precursor to what happens in reality"
So to be clear here, Stacy Abrams is decrying a law, admittedly not for what it actually states, but is decrying a law based on what she apparently believes that it might mean. Make no mistake, nothing she actually suggests here (or what Lawrence O'Donnell suggests) in the four minute video is actually part of the law. They are quite literally coming up with their own horror story about a law completely different from the one passed in Georgia.
People will not be waiting in line for seven hours without water. There is nothing in the law that allows the legislatures to "change" the results of the counts. There is nothing within the law that prevents election lawsuits. This is all nonsense, and it is now what has been determined to be journalism in 2021. You quite literally interview someone, let them make shit up about a law, while downplaying the obvious disclaimer that the shit they are making up is not in the law. Complete with a chuckle, suggesting that the fact it is not in the law is obviously irrelevant to the argument (when of course it's the only relative issue at hand).
Moreover, where on earth did these people get the impression that somehow the legislature is overstepping boundaries or otherwise is meddling. The constitution provides 100% control over elections to the legislature. The power to decide how people vote, how those votes are counted, and pretty much everything about elections are 100% within the hands of the legislature. There is zero constitutional argument that unelected local election workers get to decide ANYTHING. They are there to follow the law. Nothing more, nothing less. They can be the most dedicated hard working people in the world, but they still don't get to do anything other than what the law tells them to do.
But this is what it has openly come to here folks. Abrams and others do not like the Georgia election law so they quite literally attack it with open falsehoods. She literally tells you that what she is saying isn't actually factual. She literally openly admits that all of her criticism regarding the law are of things that are not literally in the law. But apparently she believes by hiding this truth in plain sight, that she can get away with it. Obviously this sort of fantasy has a place at MSNBC!

Statement by President Joe Biden on Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s Visit to the Middle East
MAY 24, 2021 • STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
Following up on our quiet, intensive diplomacy to bring about a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, I have asked my Secretary of State, Tony Blinken, to travel to the Middle East this week. During his trip, Secretary Blinken will meet with Israeli leaders about our ironclad commitment to Israel’s security. He will continue our Administration’s efforts to rebuild ties to, and support for, the Palestinian people and leaders, after years of neglect. And he will engage other key partners in the region, including on the coordinated international effort to ensure immediate assistance reaches Gaza in a way that benefits the people there and not Hamas, and on reducing the risk of further conflict in the coming months.

The Consequences of Not Creating a Jan. 6 CommissionIf Washington’s political system can’t come together, it may be showing it can’t reverse the dynamics that produced violence in the first place

Arriving at the right answer often starts with asking the right question. That rule is worth pondering as the Senate this week considers whether to approve creation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the ransacking of the Capitol by an angry mob of Trump supporters on Jan. 6.
The main question that will be debated is: What will happen if such a panel is created?
The better question may be: What will happen if one isn’t?
For starters, there will be plenty of inquiries into the events of Jan. 6 anyway. Dozens of trials of those who entered the Capitol will unfold, producing a lot of new information and detail. Congressional committees, operating in a typically partisan fashion, will continue to call witnesses, hold public hearings and issue reports. Journalistic inquiries will continue.
The Wall Street Journal analyzed hours of video and audio from the Capitol riot to better understand how a mob of thousands overran police and attacked the U.S. Capitol. Photo illustration: Laura Kammermann (Video from Jan. 12, 2021)
But here’s one other consequence if Washington chooses to move down the road without such a commission: The political system will have shown that it remains incapable of reversing the very problems that produced the violence in the first place—severe partisanship, rampant mistrust of the other side, a new willingness to question election results.
In sum, Washington will have modeled anew the behavior that produced Jan. 6 in the first place, perhaps increasing the chances of more of the same down the road.
If we don't address it, it will happen again and again and until the American dream comes to death.
The Warren Commission certainly didn’t end conspiracy theorizing about the Kennedy assassination, but it did produce a credible narrative around which the country could unite—and it deflected the dangerous theories that the killing was ordered directly by the Soviets or the Cuban government. The 9/11 Commission produced dozens of recommendations on how to prevent another terrorist attack, including how to organize the federal government to better detect the makings of one in advance. There has been no similar follow-on terrorist strike on the homeland.
With a modicum of bipartisan trust, today’s concerns about a commission—particularly Republicans’ understandable worries about how its staff would be formed—could be addressed. But that modicum of trust seems nonexistent. More likely the nation will learn the answer to the key question: What happens if we don’t do this?

The virus was from the laboratory in Wuhan.
WASHINGTON—Three researchers from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology became sick enough in November 2019 that they sought hospital care, according to a previously undisclosed U.S. intelligence report that could add weight to growing calls for a fuller probe of whether the Covid-19 virus may have escaped from the laboratory.
The details of the reporting go beyond a State Department fact sheet, issued during the final days of the Trump administration, which said that several researchers at the lab, a center for the study of coronaviruses and other pathogens, became sick in autumn 2019 “with symptoms consistent with both Covid-19 and.
The disclosure of the number of researchers, the timing of their illnesses and their hospital visits come on the eve of a meeting of the World Health Organization’s decision-making body, which is expected to discuss the next phase of an investigation into Covid-19’s origins.
Current and former officials familiar with the intelligence about the lab researchers expressed differing views about the strength of the supporting evidence for the assessment. One person said that it was provided by an international partner and was potentially significant but still in need of further investigation and additional corroboration.
Another person described the intelligence as stronger. “The information that we had coming from the various sources was of exquisite quality. It was very precise. What it didn’t tell you was exactly why they got sick,” he said, referring to the researchers.
November 2019 is roughly when many epidemiologists and virologists believe SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind the pandemic, first began circulating around the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where Beijing says that the first confirmed case was a man who fell ill on Dec. 8, 2019.
The Wuhan Institute hasn’t shared raw data, safety logs and lab records on its extensive work with coronaviruses in bats, which many consider the most likely source of the virus.
Shi Zhengli, the top bat coronavirus expert at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, has said Covid-19 didn’t leak from her laboratories. Dr. Shi
China has repeatedly denied that the virus escaped from one of its labs. On Sunday, China’s foreign ministry cited a WHO-led team’s conclusion, after a visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, or WIV, in February, that a lab leak was extremely unlikely. “The U.S. continues to hype the lab leak theory,” the foreign ministry said in response to a request for comment by The Wall Street Journal. “Is it actually concerned about tracing the source or trying to divert attention?”
The Biden administration declined to comment on the intelligence but said that all technically credible theories on the origin of the pandemic should be investigated by the WHO and international experts.
“We continue to have serious questions about the earliest days of the Covid-19 pandemic, including its origins within the People’s Republic of China,” said a spokeswoman for the National Security Council.
So now that Trump is out of office we can all admit that he was right in the origin of the virus. Got it.
President Trump is Right Again.
COVID-19’S ORIGINS
“We’re not going to make pronouncements that prejudge an ongoing WHO study into the source of SARS-CoV-2,” the spokeswoman said. “As a matter of policy we never comment on intelligence issues.”
Beijing has also asserted that the virus could have originated outside China, including at a lab at the Fort Detrick military base in Maryland, and called for the WHO to investigate early Covid outbreaks in other countries.
Most scientists say they have seen nothing to corroborate the idea that the virus came from a U.S. military lab, and the White House has said there are no credible reasons to investigate it.
China’s National Health Commission and the WIV didn’t respond to requests for comment. Shi Zhengli, the top bat coronavirus expert at WIV, has said the virus didn’t leak from her laboratories. She told the WHO-led team that traveled to Wuhan earlier this year to investigate the origins of the virus that all staff had tested negative for Covid-19 antibodies and there had been no turnover of staff on the coronavirus team.
Marion Koopmans, a Dutch virologist on that team told NBC News in March that some WIV staff did fall sick in the autumn of 2019, but she attributed that to regular, seasonal sickness.
“There were occasional illnesses because that’s normal. There was nothing that stood out,” she said. “Maybe one or two. It’s certainly not a big,
Lab Theory ‘Extremely Unlikely’: What WHO Team Learned in Wuhan
The World Health Organization’s mission to Wuhan said the coronavirus most likely spread naturally to humans through an animal. "Total bullshit"
It isn’t unusual for people in China to go straight to the hospital when they fall sick, either because they get better care there or lack access to a general practitioner. Covid-19 and the flu, while very different illnesses, share some of the same symptoms, such as fever, aches and a cough. Still, it could be significant if members of the same team working with coronaviruses went to hospital with similar symptoms shortly before the pandemic was first identified.
David Asher, a former U.S. official who led a State Department task force on the origins of the virus for then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, told a Hudson Institute seminar in March that he doubted that the lab researchers became sick because of the ordinary flu.
“I’m very doubtful that three people in highly protected circumstances in a level three laboratory working on coronaviruses would all get sick with influenza that put them in the hospital or in severe conditions all in the same week, and it didn’t have anything to do with the coronavirus,” he said, adding that the researchers’ illness may represent “the first known cluster” of Covid-19 cases.
Long characterized by skeptics as a conspiracy theory, the hypothesis that the pandemic could have begun with a lab accident has attracted more interest from scientists who have complained about the lack of transparency by Chinese authorities or conclusive proof for the alternate hypothesis: that the virus was contracted by humans from a bat or other infected animal outside a lab.
Many proponents of the lab hypothesis say that a virus that was carried by an infected bat might have been brought to the lab so that researchers could work on potential vaccines—only to escape.
While the lab hypothesis is being taken more seriously, including by Biden administration officials, the debate is still colored by political tensions, including over how much evidence is needed to sustain the hypothesis.
The State Department fact sheet issued during the Trump administration, which drew on classified intelligence, said that the “U.S. government has reason to believe that several researchers inside the WIV became sick in autumn 2019, before the first identified case of the outbreak, with symptoms consistent with both Covid-19 and seasonal illnesses.”
The Biden administration hasn’t disputed any of the assertions in the fact sheet, which current and former officials say was vetted by U.S. intelligence agencies. The fact sheet also covered research activities at the WIV, its alleged cooperation on some projects with the Chinese military and accidents at other Chinese labs.
But one Biden administration official said that by highlighting data that pointed to the lab leak hypothesis, Trump administration officials had sought “to put spin on the ball.” Several U.S. officials described the intelligence as “circumstantial,” worthy of further exploration but not conclusive on its own.
Asked about the Jan. 15 statement, State Department spokesman Ned Price said: “A fact sheet issued by the previous administration on January 15 did not draw any conclusions regarding the origins of the coronavirus. Rather, it focused on the lack of transparency surrounding the origins.”
WHO Investigates Covid Origins in Wuhan: What to Expect
WHO Investigates Covid Origins in Wuhan: What to Expect
One year after Covid-19 first emerged in Wuhan, a WHO team traveled to the Chinese city to investigate the origins of the virus. WSJ explains what the scientists are looking for—and what they may find during their politically sensitive mission. Photo: Thomas Peter/Reuters
Though the first known case was Dec. 8, several analyses of the virus’s rate of mutation concluded that it likely began spreading several weeks earlier.
However, team members said they didn’t view raw data or original lab, safety and other records. On the same day the report came out, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the team hadn’t adequately examined the lab leak hypothesis, and called for a fuller probe of the idea.
The U.S., European Union and several other governments have also called for a more transparent investigation of Covid-19’s origins, without explicitly demanding a lab probe. They have called in particular for better access to data and samples from potential early Covid-19 cases.
Members of the WHO-led team said Chinese counterparts had identified 92 potential Covid-19 cases among some 76,000 people who fell sick between October and early December 2019, but turned down requests to share raw data on the larger group. That data would help the WHO-led team understand why China sought to only test those 92 people for antibodies.
Team members also said they asked for access to a Wuhan blood bank to test samples from before December 2019 for antibodies. Chinese authorities declined at first, citing privacy concerns, then agreed, but have yet to provide that access, team members say.

Far to many racist people have found a place in the Republican base.
The New York Police Department's Hate Crime Task Force launched an investigation into a pair of anti-Semitic incidents in Brooklyn on Saturday night, days after the NYPD said it would increase patrols in Jewish neighborhoods amid a rise in hate crimes.
Driving the news: The NYPD says 195 hate crimes were reported in New York City between Jan 1. and May 16, an increase of 71% from the same period last year. The true total is likely higher, since many incidents go unreported.
What's happening: Three suspects are wanted for harassing a group of Orthodox Jews outside of a synagogue in Borough Park and allegedly yelling, "Free Palestine — kill all the Jews,'' according to Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein.
The same group is suspected to have assaulted and yelled anti-Semitic language at two Jewish teenagers 45 minutes later, according to NBC New York.New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio met on Sunday with the NYPD and Jewish community leaders in Borough Park, a neighborhood with a large Orthodox Jewish community, to discuss strategies to combat hate crimes.
What they're saying: "The attacks we saw in Brooklyn last night were unconscionable. They were pure, unbridled anti-Semitism. And we do not need to look too far back in history to know what happens if we let that hatred go unchecked," de Blasio tweeted.
The big picture: Vandalism and harassment fueled by anti-Semitism and Islamophobia has been reported to law enforcement and shared across social media platforms throughout the U.S. and Europe, following two weeks of bombardments between the Israeli government and Hamas that ended in a ceasefire Friday.
Four people were arrested in the U.K. on Sunday for driving a convoy through an area of London with a large Jewish population and yelling violent anti-Semitic language. Videos of the incident went viral on social media last week and drew widespread shock and condemnation.A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with hate crime assault on Friday for using a crutch to attack a Jewish man in Times Square. In Los Angeles last week, people in a convoy of cars flying Palestinian flags harassed and physically assaulted patrons sitting outside a restaurant. A witness told the Los Angeles Times: "They were chanting, 'Death to Jews' and 'Free Palestine.'"In Chicago, a window at the Persian Hebrew Congregation was shattered and surveillance caught two people on camera, one carrying a "Freedom for Palestine" sign. Frederick Douglass wrote his autobiography three times, but to protect the people who helped him run away from enslavement, he did not explain how he had managed to get away until the last version.
Douglass escaped from slavery in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1838. In his twenty years of life, he had had a series of masters, some kind, some harsh, and one who almost killed him. But by 1838, he was a skilled worker in the local shipyards, earning good money for his master and enjoying a measure of freedom, as well as protection. He had good friends in the area and had fallen in love with the woman who would become his wife.
It was enslavement, but within that existence, it was a pretty good position. His peers in the cotton fields of the Deep South were beaten like animals, their deaths by violence unremarkable. Douglass himself had come close to being "sold down the river"—a term that referred to the slave convoys that traveled down the Mississippi River from older, worn out lands in the East to fresh, raw lands in Mississippi and Louisiana—and he knew that being forced to labor on a plantation in the Deep South would kill him.
His relatively safe position would have been enough for a lot of people. They would have thanked God for their blessings and stayed put. In 1838, Frederick Douglass was no different than they were: an unknown slave, hoping to get through each day. Like them, he might have accepted his conditions and disappeared into the past, leaving the status quo unchanged.
But he refused.
His scheme for escaping to freedom was ridiculously easy. In the days of slavery, free black sailors carried documents with them to prove to southern authorities that they were free, so they could move from northern and foreign ports to southern ports without being detained. These were the days before photos, so officials described the man listed on the free papers as they saw him: his color, distinguishing marks, scars. Douglass worked in shipyards, and had met a sailor whose free papers might cover Douglass... if the white official who looked at them didn't look too closely. Risking his own freedom, that sailor lent Douglass his papers.
To escape from slavery, all Douglass had to do was board a train. That's it: he just had to step on a train. If he were lucky, and the railroad conductor didn't catch him, and no one recognized him and called him out, he could be free. But if he were caught, he would be sold down river, almost certainly to his death.
To me, Douglass's decision to step aboard that train is everything. How many of us would have taken that risk, especially knowing that even in the best case, success would mean trying to build a new life, far away from everyone we had ever known? Douglass's step was such a little one, such an easy one... except that it meant the difference between life and death, the difference between a forgotten, enslaved shipyard worker and the great Frederick Douglass, who went on to become a powerful voice for American liberty.
Tomorrow, my students will graduate, and every year, students ask me if I have any advice for them as they leave college or university, advice I wish I had had at their age. The answer is yes, after all these years of living and of studying history, I have one piece of advice:
When the day comes that you have to choose between what is just good enough and what is right... find the courage to step on the train.

Roger...
Do you seriously believe that the problems with anti-Semitism comes from Christianity? Obvious factual reality is that Muslims and the Arab world in general have issues with Israel and the Jewish community.
Can you name a Christian state that is looking to wipe Israel off the face of the earth and kill all the Jews? Because there are several Arab states that either explicitly or implicitly demand both.
I should have included Islam but it didn't start centuries after Easter Sunday.
But it started in Christianty.
There are many anti semitic groups in the Republicans who invaded the Capitol building on January 6th !
Forget the 20th century; hardly a day in 2021 passes without some new denunciation or endorsement of anti-racism or anti-bias training as the new brainwashing.
The whole premise of anti-unconscious-bias training is that large numbers of Americans are already brainwashed by a flawed culture; they’re unconscious bigots who need to be deprogrammed. “Many organizations have considered adopting unconscious-bias training to address their roles in perpetuating racism and inequality. This kind of training seeks to make participants aware of their biases, in a blame-free manner.” People are already brainwashed; it just needs to be turned left-side up.

How President Joe Biden could win The Nobel Peace Prize.
Maybe this is another “Kissinger moment.” Like the 1973 Vietnam war, this situation is a wake-up call for Israel. Despite the spin, people know that there was no real victory here. More than ever there is a feeling that something has to change. Hamas, like the Egyptians, in 1973 surprised Israel and did real damage. Bibi wanted to do enough damage to humiliate Hamas as much as possible, without going in on the ground. But Biden stopped us before we could totally humiliate Hamas.
Easter Sunday took place ca. 30CE.

"All vaccinated people will die within 2 years."

Luc Montagnier has confirmed that there is no chance of survival for people who have received any form of the vaccine. In the shocking interview, the world’s leading virologist stated bluntly: “There is no hope and no possible treatment for those who have already been vaccinated. We must be prepared to cremate the bodies.” The scientific genius backed up the claims of other eminent virologists after studying the ingredients of the vaccine. “They will all die from antibody-dependent enhancement. That is all that can be said.”

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Republicans on Capitol Hill are arguing that a proposed January 6th commission is uncalled for because the rioters were merely middle schoolers on a field trip.
Speaking to reporters, Senator Ron Johnson, of Wisconsin, said that, after reviewing footage of the riot, “It’s plain to see that this was just a bunch of middle-school kids who got a little rowdy.”
“I’ve had teen-agers, and I know what kind of horseplay and tomfoolery they can get up to,” he said. “I didn’t set up a commission every time they raised a little heck.”
Claiming that the rioters’ behavior should be expected of “a bunch of crazy kids looking to cut loose,” Johnson said that the responsibility for investigating them belongs “not to Congress but to their teachers.”
“I think the teachers need to find out who were the class clowns behind these stunts, and say to them, ‘Any more nonsense like this and you’re not going to the water park on the last day of school,’ ” he said.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden announced Monday that he’s doubling U.S. emergency spending to help communities prepare for hurricanes and other extreme weather events, while launching a new effort at NASA to better understand and track the impact of climate change.
The $1 billion in spending is a small fraction of what the U.S. spends on weather-related disasters. Last year alone, the nation endured 22 weather and climate-related disasters with losses greater than $1 billion each. The disasters, including wildfires, hurricanes and snowstorms, had a cumulative price tag of nearly $100 billion.
2021 has already had significant winter storms that caused a deadly blackout in Texas and other states and underscore the damage caused by climate change.
“We all know that the storms are coming, and we’re going to be prepared,” Biden said during a visit to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Washington headquarters. “We have to be ready.”
Several of the people who invaded the Capitol building were wearing shirts that said six million Jews was not enough yet

No legislature can write laws that are unconstitutional. I figured you might even understand that? But apparently... you are confused.
As for the old southern Democratic racists who used to hate black minorities, those laws were overturned by upstanding Justices as they should have been. Those racist Democrats like George Wallace got put in their place.
Apparently Reverend... you didn't bother to watch the video before spewing misinformation about my post. Had you bothered to do so, you would know that she is upset about a dispute between Legislature and the people counting the votes.
Apparently Abrams believes that the ultimate authority in how votes are counted, reported, etc... resides with the individual counties and their vote counters.
She is arguing that legislature is somehow overstepping in trying to oversee the vote counting or otherwise make any new rules, regulations, or laws.
As I have stated before. This is the problem for Abrams and the Democrats who rely on HUGE margins from two or three counties to win elections in almost every state. In Georgia every county will now have to:
1) Turn in their "total" number of votes within three hours of polls closing.
2) Finish all mail in ballot counting by the day after the election.
3) Accept help from poll workers from other counties (that have completed their counts) in order to speed up the process.
The new law also provides additional oversight of these unelected local officials and can even have people removed if they repeated fail to follow the new laws and guidelines.
You can imagine why Abrams is upset. Imagine an election where we are not sitting around three days later waiting to figure out exactly how many votes are coming from Fulton or Gwinnett county. Imagine already knowing (as we should) how many votes there are in those counties ON ELECTION NIGHT!
God forbid, huh Reverend.
Why on earth should that be a problem?

Joint Statement on National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan’s Meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev
MAY 24, 2021 • STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev held consultations on United States-Russia relations as part of regular Security Council contacts. The meeting was a logical continuation of the recent discussions held in Reykjavik between Secretary of State Blinken and Foreign Minister Lavrov.
The meeting was an important step in the preparation for a planned U.S.-Russia summit, the date and location of which will be announced later.
The discussions were held in a constructive manner and, despite outstanding differences, allowed for a better understanding of each other’s positions.
A wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed with a high priority given to the topic of strategic stability. The sides expressed confidence that mutually acceptable solutions could be found in a number of areas.
The sides agreed that a normalization of U.S.-Russian relations would be in the interest of both countries and contribute to global predictability and stability.

Now twist and turn to answer what Abrams says above in my 1:35.
That can be her opinion, if she wants it to be. She openly admits that the laws are not written as she sees them, but pretends that her opinions will mysteriously come true anyways.
If you can reconcile that and explain it (rather than just lap it up like a thirsty dog) - then I am all ears.
I would disagree 100% because I actually believe that the laws mean exactly what they state. The laws are designed to do away with the painstakingly drawn out counting of votes that sometimes goes into the weeks, and almost ever end up with the same numbers they started off with.
But hey... excuse me if I want some semblance of counting order. Chalk that up to having a math degree and wanting numbers and counts to make sense. But if we can get an actual count on election night, get these bigger counties the help they need to finish by the next day...
I don't see how anyone could possibly have a problem with that?
Unless of course, a quick, accurate, transparent vote counting is not what you want? Because that appears to be exactly what Abrams is afraid of.
Experienced Auditor Never Heard Back on Arizona Bid
Associated Press:
“In early March, a Boston-based vote-counting firm called Clear Ballot Group sent a bid to Arizona’s state Senate to audit the 2020 presidential election results in Maricopa County. The firm has conducted more than 200 such audits over 13 years in business.
“He never heard back, he says.”
“Instead, the state Senate hired a small Florida-based cybersecurity firm known as Cyber Ninjas that had not placed a formal bid for the contract and had no experience with election audits.”
But of course this doesn't sound at all suspicious to good ole Ch...
You guess Arizona's state Senate just didn't want "a quick, accurate, transparent" audit, Ch?

Arizona Republic:

Reverend changing the subject again?
Must mean he has no answers and cannot actually defend the Abrams position?
Please tell us all how it is "racist" to demand every county provide their total vote count (how many votes cast) the night of the election?
Please tell us all how it is "racist" to provide bigger counties with help from vote counters from smaller counties that have finished earlier?
Please tell us all how it is "racist" to get your mail in ballots counted by the next day, when most of them are in your possession prior to the election?
Or does the cat lady got your tongue?
DUCEY SILENT, BUT NOT TRUMP
Ducey has stayed away from the issue, even as the audit has raised concerns from the U.S. Department of Justice, the Republican county recorder, a bipartisan array of election officials from across the country and plenty of his own constituents.
Asked again to weigh in last week, Ducey's spokesperson said "nothing has changed" from March, when Ducey said he wanted to wait until the results of the audit are released to say whether he supports it.
.
Ducey hasn't flown under the radar on the issue, though, with Trump calling on Ducey last month to provide security for the audit.
Trump is clearly paying attention to which of his fellow Republicans support this audit, and sending out statements to make that clear as it progresses.
On Saturday he called on Republican Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who has also remained quiet about the audit, to "get on the ball and catch up with the great Republican Patriots in the Arizona State Senate."
Trump said the election was rigged in a "massive crime" and said that "Brnovich is nowhere to be found."
"Arizona was a big part and Brnovich must put himself in gear, or no Arizona Republican will vote for him in the upcoming elections," Trump wrote.
Brnovich is said to be eyeing a bid for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2022 against Sen. Mark Kelly.
The silence of Ducey and Brnovich is attracting attention as the growing local Republican revolt against the audit.
The county supervisors have always opposed the Senate doing its own audit, since they have said their numerous audits have proven the election was accurate and fair. But other county Republicans, such as Recorder Stephen Richer, are getting more forceful in their disdain for the audit in the past few weeks.
As The Republic reported Sunday, this audit is continuing to fracture the Republican party in the state and making it increasingly clear that the days of Republicans battling it out behind the scenes are over.
As the county officials face unprecedented pressure from Trump,
GOP lawmakers in the U.S. Congress and in the state Legislature,
and many of their own constituents,
county officials have emerged as a unified line of defense against Trump’s claims of widespread election fraud here and elsewhere.

Noem vs. Biden the last time I voted for a candidate from my home state was George McGovern.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem catapulted onto the list of conservative politicians favored by former President Donald Trump with her libertarian approach to the pandemic. With the virus waning, she may be seeking to stay there by picking some legal fights sure to please the right.
In recent weeks, Noem has gone to court to challenge President Joe Biden's administration for blocking an Independence Day celebration with fireworks at Mount Rushmore. She also joined a lawsuit from several states against the administration over climate change regulations — one of the only plaintiffs who doesn't hail from a state heavily dependent on fossil fuels.
Noem says she's simply acting in the state's interests, but the tactic has given her a chance to cast herself as one of Biden's most prominent foes. She went on Fox News to announce the lawsuit over Mount Rushmore fireworks, and later joined star host Sean Hannity for a podcast titled “Noem vs. Biden."
McGovern was a great guy. A war hero.
Noem vs Harris would be interesting but Harris would win a landslide!

Well Reverend...
It's not "rushing" a county for them to provide the Secretary of State the amount of votes that they have in hand. The machines will automatically tally the number of ballots cast on election day and can be easily compared to the signatures at the various polling stations.
The amount of mail in ballots is being tallied daily (or should be) and that number should be easily available for each county shortly after they get the mail on election day.
This polling station information and mail in balloting can be provided in a timely fashion by stations in counties run by Republicans?
Why should we make exceptions for Democrats? Are they just not as organized? Are they not math orientated? Why does it take 99% of the polling stations and counties a few hours to know what they have to count... and you have other counties that seem clueless several days later?
But nice try, Reverend.
If these people in charge of these counties cannot be trusted to put together this information in a timely fashion, then they should be replaced. Something else that the law permits!
It's either incompetency or something nefarious. Either way, we should not stand for it.
Oh.... and "rushing" an election (even if that is what is is) is still not "racism".

U.S. stocks climbed on Monday as the technology sector and shares benefiting the most from the economic reopening led the advance.

The Republicans have been more opposed to Israel now..
Opinion by Max Boot
May 24 at 12:13 PM PDT
Last week’s Gaza war highlighted the growing partisan split over Israel. But, contrary to the conventional wisdom, which claims that President Biden and his party have turned against the Jewish state, it’s Republicans who have shifted far more than Democrats.
It’s true that Democratic support for Israel is declining, particularly among younger voters. A new YouGovAmerica poll finds that 23 percent of Democrats sympathize with the Palestinians compared to only 5 percent of Republicans. Among Democrats in Congress, there are a few outspoken critics of Israel, such as Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). A Palestinian American, Tlaib supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which singles out Israel for opprobrium that is not directed against far worse human-rights violators such as China and Iran.
But hostility toward Israel remains a minority position within Democratic ranks. In 2019, only 16 House Democrats voted against condemning the BDS movement. Sen. Raphael G. Warnock (Ga.) is firmly in the Democratic mainstream when he writes: “I strongly oppose the BDS movement and its anti-Semitic underpinnings, including its supporters’ refusal to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist.”
Most Democrats are where President Biden is on the issue. As Biden said on Thursday, “I believe the Palestinians and Israelis equally deserve to live safely and securely and to enjoy equal measures of freedom, prosperity and democracy.” That is in line with the historical Democratic position. While President Harry S. Truman recognized Israel’s independence and presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson deepened the U.S.-Israel alliance, presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton made breakthroughs for peace by pressuring both sides for concessions.
Republicans have changed positions far more than Democrats. They have become pro-Israel zealots who opposed any attempt to bring the recent bloodletting to an end. Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, criticized Biden for “calling for Israel to de-escalate while the terrorist group Hamas is still firing rockets at Israeli citizens.” (Of course, Biden was calling for Hamas to stop firing rockets, too.) Sen. Tom Cotton (Ark.) accused Biden of “caving to the Hamas sympathizers within his party” by eventually demanding a cease-fire. Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) claimed that “every one of those [Hamas] rockets might as well have Joe Biden’s name written on the side of it.”
None of these Republicans showed the slightest concern for the 248 Palestinians (including at least 65 children) killed in the Gaza Strip — or any awareness that the current flare-up was triggered by Israeli threats to evict Palestinian families in East Jerusalem.
Kputz complained about Bernie Sanders expressing concern about dead Mooslimb children .

“There has been a surge in start-ups in America that experts have yet to fully explain. But a new study — using data that allows researchers to more precisely track new businesses across time and place — finds that the surge coincides with federal stimulus, and is strongest in Black communities.
“Across a number of states, the pace of weekly business registrations more than doubled in the months after the CARES Act was signed in March 2020. Business registrations rose again, by 60 percent, around the period of the supplementary aid package signed in December. Coinciding with the third wave of stimulus in March, weekly business registrations have been up by 20 percent, but the data is less complete.”

Every election board, in every town, in every county, in every state, is able to tally the votes on election night. This has been the case for how many decades? Now suddenly, it's called foolishly speedy?? Even dopey wouldn't say something so stupid.
Elections need to be quick and safe
Not delayed so votes can be harvested to reach an outcome.
Dennis are you ready to debate that a black family of four and a white family of four with the same income have the same net worth?
I am.
Speedy tallies of election results are far from the only attempts Republicans are making to suppress Dem votes (especially the minority portion of that voting) with their over 400 bills in forty-seven states.
So you now admit that the new laws requiring transparent and timely counting of the votes is neither racist or suppressive of the votes? Unless you are thinking it suppresses (in a racist way) the ability of Democratic counties with large blocs of black voters to manufacture more fake votes?
But if these examples are a "far cry" from the only attempts... why are you unable to name any of the other attempts to "suppress the vote".
Is the 150 foot rule (generally less than half a city block) suppressing voters because they cannot be handed water during the final 15-20 minutes they wait in line?
Is it the fact that they are codifying the existence of drop off ballot boxes (in secured locations) that did not exist in previous voting laws?
Is it he expansion of the hours of operations of early voting?
What exactly is suppressing the vote?
Because at the end of the day, once you get past the rhetoric about the other fake issues... it seems most of your angry Democrats get back to the idea of the State putting new rules in place for "counting" the votes. That really creates the most angst for them.
Counting the votes has nothing to do with voter suppression.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — In perhaps the strongest evidence yet of an attempted cover-up in the deadly 2019 arrest of Ronald Greene, the ranking Louisiana State Police officer at the scene falsely told internal investigators that the Black man was still a threat to flee after he was shackled, and he denied the existence of his own body camera video for nearly two years until it emerged just last month.
New state police documents obtained by The Associated Press show numerous inconsistencies between Lt. John Clary’s statements to detectives and the body camera footage he denied having. They add to growing evidence of obfuscation in Greene’s death, which the white troopers initially blamed on a car crash at the end of a high-speed chase and is now the subject of a federal civil rights investigation.
The highly secretive case has drawn national attention since last week, when the AP began publishing graphic body camera videos that showed troopers repeatedly jolting Greene with stun guns, putting him in a chokehold, punching him and dragging him by his ankle shackles. And like George Floyd's death a year ago, it once again highlighted the importance of video as key evidence in police misconduct cases.
“Video doesn't lie, and the best way to protect the integrity of law enforcement agencies is with body camera footage,” said Rafael Goyeneche, a former prosecutor who is president of the Metropolitan Crime Commission, a New Orleans-based watchdog group.
But Clary, the highest-ranking officer among at least six state troopers at the scene of Greene's May 10, 2019, arrest, told investigators later that day that he had no body camera footage of the incident — a statement proven to be untrue when his 30-minute body camera video of the arrest emerged last month
Professor and pundit Robert Reich sparred with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Twitter on Sunday, accusing her of promoting hate after she called him a communist.
"Can we all agree that Marjorie Taylor Green must be expelled from Congress?" Reich, former President Clinton's secretary of Labor and a veteran political operative who served in the administrations of Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford, said in an initial tweet.
Greene responded: "Don’t know you, but when I saw Berkley in your bio, I got it. Just put the hammer and sickle with it."
After pointing out her last name is spelled with an "e" on the end, Greene told Reich: "Being a communists professor, you’ve never done the real hard work that builds the economy, you just teach ideas that will destroy it."
Reich shot back at Greene, saying, "All you do is promote hate."
"Hate is destroying our country. (Oh, and Berkeley is spelled with an "e" after the k.)," he said.

Trumpism boiled down to its essence—the nationalism, isolationism, and protectionism underlying his America First message, combined with populism and culture-war-fighting, anti-immigration stances and rhetoric and arguably more than a little ethnocentrism, and a strong attachment to a religious coalition of evangelical white protestants, conservative white Catholics, and those of the Orthodox Jewish faith—had little in common with the views represented by the previous 17 nominations. Instead, it came from Pat Buchanan and his 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns, and from Sarah Palin’s 2008 vice presidential campaign.
Unquestionably there is a segment of the GOP that will remain steadfastly loyal to Trump until the day they die. But I suspect you will see a party that embraced much of what Trump said but will be looking for a less-flawed candidate to push that agenda, something that Democrats might not want to see. Most Republicans, and even many of Trump’s backers, acknowledge that he was often his own worst enemy.
That does not mean that the GOP is going back to what it was. It's more likely to just go with someone new.
Imo it will be the first authoritarian party in American history.

The Big Lie
Arizona and Georgia audits move forward as Republicans continue to push election fraud lies
By Eric Bradner, CNN
May 24, 2021
(CNN) - A Republican-ordered audit of the 2.1 million votes cast last year in Arizona's Maricopa County resumed Monday amid the escalating intra-party fight between state senators who sought the audit and county officials who have called it a sham.
Meanwhile, in Georgia's Fulton County, another audit is set to move forward after a judge on Friday green-lit the unsealing of 147,000 mail-in ballots cast there in the 2020 election. It follows three audits, including a hand recount, that Georgia conducted last year.
The audits are a continuation of Republicans' search for justification for former President Donald Trump's lies that widespread fraud helped President Joe Biden defeat him in the 2020 election, a victory that included narrow Democratic wins in Arizona and Georgia.
Trump's falsehoods have been embraced by a swath of GOP primary voters and by party officials eager to placate the former president and his supporters. Republican state lawmakers have introduced hundreds of bills across the nation this year that would make voting more difficult -- and many of those bills have advanced or already been signed into law in states where Republicans control both the legislature and the governor's office, including Georgia, Florida, Arizona and Texas.
Audits have yet to uncover any wrongdoing, and cannot change the election's results months after votes were certified, the electoral college voted and Biden was inaugurated.
After a week-long delay because the Coliseum where the Arizona audit is taking place had been booked for graduations, the audit -- conducted by a Florida-based company called Cyber Ninjas -- resumed Monday morning.
Auditors have said they should finish by the end of June, a much slower time-frame than they had initially suggested. They are accepting private funding for the audit in addition to the $150,000 the Arizona state Senate is paying, but have not revealed who is paying or how much.
They've also faced criticism for failing to adhere to the standard practices and security measures of an election audit. Arizona Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs told Maricopa County officials that, because of how auditors have handled the county's more than $6 million in election equipment, it should not be used in future elections.
"What we're seeing happen is not an audit," Hobbs told reporters last week. "It is a fundraising stunt."
Arizona takes heated turn
The latest escalation in Arizona came after the state Senate president, Karen Fann, in a letter to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors alleged that a key database had been deleted from the county's elections server before it was delivered to auditors. The Twitter account associated with the audit also claimed a database had been deleted, and then Trump amplified that claim with a statement in which he said, "The entire Database of Maricopa County in Arizona has been DELETED!"
The county elections department responded with a lengthy -- and acerbic -- technical letter offering an explanation: Auditors' tech experts had not properly reconfigured the hard drives, and once properly configured, the errors auditors had shown they'd encountered in a screenshot would be corrected.
In a closed hearing last week held by Fann and another Senate Republican, Ben Cotton, the founder of CyFIR, a contractor working with Cyber Ninjas to conduct the audit, confirmed that he had discovered what he believed was a deleted database while trying to determine how to correctly configure the drives -- appearing to confirm the county's explanation.
And -- rather than reporting any potential tampering with the server, which would be a felony, to law enforcement -- Cotton dropped the matter entirely. "All of this, however, may be a moot point, because subsequently I was able to recover all those deleted files and I have access to them," he said in the hearing.
A day after that, Cotton backtracked again. In a statement posted on the Arizona audit Twitter account, he said: "My testimony on May 19th before the AZ Senate is being taken out of context by some media outlets. To confirm: the 'Databases' directory on the EMS Primary Server WAS deleted containing the voting databases. I was able to recover the deleted databases through forensic data recovery processes. We are performing data continuity checks to ensure that the recovered databases are usable."
The auditors offered no evidence -- beyond screenshots posted when they had initially claimed a database had been deleted, which ultimately confirmed the county's explanation of drives that had not been properly configured -- to support the claim.
And late Friday, Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel -- on behalf of the Board of Supervisors -- sent Fann a letter notifying senators, auditors and their contractors to preserve all documents related to the audit, an indication that a lawsuit could be forthcoming.
"Our clients delivered the server exactly as it was kept by the Maricopa County Elections Department. Nothing was deleted, or added, from the server when we prepared it to be sent to the Senate pursuant to the Senate's subpoena," Adel said in the letter. "Because of the wrongful accusations that the County destroyed evidence, the County or its elected officers may now be subject to, or have, legal claims. Likewise, we have reason to believe this audit is not being done in accordance with Arizona law."
Georgia audit
The decision in Georgia comes after a handful of plaintiffs filed a lawsuit to access the ballots. But the audit in Fulton County is likely to come with more stipulations than the opaquely operated, GOP-run audit playing out in Arizona's Maricopa County.
While Henry County Judge Brian Amero ordered that the ballots be unsealed, "Petitioners shall only be permitted to inspect and scan said ballots in accordance with protocols and practices that will be set forth by further order of the Court," according to court documents. The judge directed counsel for the parties to convene where the ballots are being stored this week.
Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts, a Democrat, slammed the push for yet another review of the 2020 election.
"It is outrageous that Fulton County continues to be a target of those who cannot accept the results from last year's election," Pitts said. "The votes have been counted three times, including a hand recount, and no evidence of fraud has been found. The fact remains that Fulton County safely and securely carried out an election in the midst of a public health pandemic. It's a shame to see that the 'Big Lie' lives on and could cost the hardworking taxpayers of this county."
He dismissed concerns about counterfeit ballots as little more than a conservative pipe dream.
"This conspiracy theory about counterfeit ballots has been trotted out by proponents of the 'Big Lie' across the country and shot down every time," Pitts said. "Whether it's looking for bamboo in Arizona's ballots or searching for counterfeits in Fulton's, it is nonsense."
Georgia elections official Gabriel Sterling said on CNN on Sunday that the Fulton County audit is being spurred by Trump supporters, and that earlier audits and recounts found no evidence of fraud.
Officials "spent literally thousands of hours examining ballots in Fulton County and other counties trying to track these kinds of claims down and so far we have seen nothing give any merit to it," he said.
Still, he insisted that Georgia's examination of Fulton County's ballots will be much more regulated than the Arizona audit currently underway, which he said is not "an actual audit" and is being conducted by inexperienced people who are hoping to find fraud.
"They are going to want to find it. If they don't find it they are going to intellectually manufacture it. And they are going to go on to other news organizations that will then pump these things up into things that are not real, which is what we are seeing in Arizona," Sterling said.

How the Lab-Leak Theory Suddenly Became Credible
Washington Post:
“The source of the coronavirus that has left more than 3 million people dead around the world remains a mystery. But in recent months the idea that it emerged from the Wuhan Institute of Virology — once dismissed as a ridiculous conspiracy theory — has gained new credence.
“How and why did this happen?
For one, efforts to discover a natural source of the virus have failed.
Second, early efforts to spotlight a lab leak often got mixed up with speculation that the virus was deliberately created as a bioweapon. That made it easier for many scientists to dismiss the lab scenario as tin-hat nonsense.
But a lack of transparency by China and renewed attention to the activities of the Wuhan lab have led some scientists to say they were too quick to discount a possible link at first.”

For much of Donald Trump’s presidency, Barack Obama largely abided by the convention that former presidents do not publicly criticize or attack their successors.
Trump family members got ‘inappropriately close’ to Secret Service agents, book claims
Obama jettisoned any such caution during the 2020 election that put his own vice-president, Joe Biden, in the White House. But behind the scenes, with donors and advisers, Obama was reportedly much more candid.
According to a new book, Obama called Trump a “madman”, a “racist, sexist pig”, “that fucking lunatic” and a “corrupt motherfucker”.
The remarks are reported in Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaigns to Defeat Donald Trump by Edward-Isaac Dovere, a staff writer at the Atlantic, which will be published next week. The Guardian obtained a copy.
Extracts of Dovere’s candid reporting have been published elsewhere – including a passage in which the now first lady, Jill Biden, is quoted as saying now Vice-President Kamala Harris should “go fuck herself” after a memorable debate-stage attack on Joe Biden early in the primary.
The reported remarks by Obama about Trump seem likely to prompt an angry reaction from the 45th president.
How Matt Gaetz Helped Make Ron DeSantis
POLITICO:
“Before federal investigators were looking into Gaetz in an ongoing sex scandal, he was a top campaign adviser to DeSantis, who he met while both served in Congress. DeSantis at the time was a little-known GOP congressman in 2018 and needed help navigating Florida’s political landscape as he weighed whether to run for governor. Gaetz, 39, had deep connections to Florida’s political class because of his father, Don Gaetz, a powerful former state senator. Gaetz went on to play roles in DeSantis’ campaign and his early administration.
“DeSantis’ ties to Gaetz could pressure the governor to answer difficult questions about whether he was aware of any alleged wrongdoing as he seeks a second term as governor and possibly the White House. As an adviser, Gaetz urged the governor to appoint several people who are also now ensnared in the federal investigation. Gaetz was also close friends with Joel Greenberg, the man at the center of a federal investigation into sex trafficking.”

“The Justice Department late Monday night released part of a key internal document used in 2019 to justify not charging President Donald Trump with obstruction, but also signaled it would fight a judge’s effort to make the entire document public,”
the Washington Post reports.
“The filing comes after a federal judge excoriated former U.S. attorney general William Barr — and the Justice Department more broadly — for their explanations of how and why it decided not to pursue a criminal case against Trump over possible obstruction of the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.”

Europe Imposes Sanctions on Belarus
“European leaders on Monday agreed to significantly toughen sanctions on Belarus and to bar European Union airlines from flying over the country’s airspace, dealing a potentially crushing blow to the economy, a day after Belarusian authorities forced down a civilian jet and pulled off a dissident journalist,”
the Washington Post reports.
“The measures, backed by all 27 E.U. leaders, were an unusually fast and powerful response to the brazen move by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who on Sunday sent a MiG-29 fighter jet to snatch a Ryanair plane out of the sky as it was flying from Athens to Vilnius, Lithuania, and arrest one of its passengers, Roman Protasevich, the founder of an opposition media outlet.”
New York Times:
“There was no indication, however, that the intensified squeeze would alter Mr. Lukashenko’s resolve — especially with President Vladimir Putin of Russia steadfast in his support.”
Wall Street Journal:
What happened to the Ryanair flight?

He may have been correct that the Chinese government created the covid-19 virus as a bio weapon.
Jan 30: Sen. Tom Cotton, speaking at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, says: “This coronavirus is a catastrophe on the scale of Chernobyl for China. But actually, it’s probably worse than Chernobyl, which was localized in its effect. The coronavirus could result in a global pandemic.” He adds: “I would note that Wuhan has China’s only biosafety level-four super laboratory that works with the world’s most deadly pathogens to include, yes, coronavirus.”
How and why did this happen? For one, efforts to discover a natural source of the virus have failed. Second, early efforts to spotlight a lab leak often got mixed up with speculation that the virus was deliberately created as a bioweapon. That made it easier for many scientists to dismiss the lab scenario as tin-hat nonsense.
