What are they so afraid of part VXIVIIX

Abuse of power by Biden's Justice Department: Let Arizona conduct its own election audit
This month, Karlan wrote to Arizona state Senate President Karen Fann, claiming the Maricopa County audit could be in violation of federal voting and civil rights laws. This is completely wrong on the law and an attempt by the Department of Justice to exercise a nonexistent power to conduct oversight of the Maricopa County audit. An audit of a past election does not violate the Voting Rights Act or any other federal election law. In the entire history of the DOJ, the department has not interfered with or investigated an audit because it has no legal authority to do so. This is a brazen abuse of power.
Prior to joining the DOJ, Karlan played a key role in censoring information about vulnerabilities in our election system. She was a member of the Facebook Oversight Board, a group of "experts" that helps the social media giant decide what posts should be censored. Additionally, she has a history of false statements about prior Republican administration actions to protect voting rights. She incorrectly claimed that in the last five years of the Bush administration, there were no Voting Rights Act cases to protect minorities. Despite this claim being proven incorrect, she has refused to retract this statement.

So now we have the DOJ trying to weigh in and stop an audit of Maricopa county election results. Never have I recalled as much stonewalling as we have seen as it pertains to this election. While continuously demanding that any suggestion of a tampered election is the "big lie" there is still nearly 50% of the population that doesn't buy it.

  • We never did see any sort of real audit in Fulton or Gwinnett counties in Georgia, where between the two of them we inexplicitly saw over 160,000 "more" votes for Biden than we had seen for Clinton in 2016. Results that were not seen anywhere else in Georgia or the U.S. for that matter.
  • We still have not received any explanation as to how Biden received 76% of the Mail in ballot in Pennsylvania when exit polling suggested he should have gotten 67% (a swing of 475,000 votes and just enough to give Biden a thin margin).
  • Now we may never get an honest audit of Maricopa county (a county that I am way less suspicious of than about a half dozen others).
There are lies, big lies, and then lies about big lies designed to cover up the actual lie. In this case the actual lie is that there was no election fraud. But as the saying goes. Methinks the man doth protests too much! This sort of protest that is this aligned all the way to the top, with people willing to openly abuse their positions to undermine and downplay questions is not right. That should hold true regardless of which side you believe is the one telling the lies.

Wyoming state Sen. Anthony Bouchard, a Republican who has announced his intention to challenge Rep. Liz Cheney (R) for her House seat, acknowledged Thursday that he had impregnated a 14-year-old and had a relationship with her when he was 18, comparing the teen intimacy to Shakespeare’s tragedy “Romeo and Juliet.”
Bouchard first acknowledged that he impregnated a girl when he was 18 in a Facebook Live video, but did not initially disclose her age. He confirmed to the Casper Star-Tribune that the girl was 14 and the couple, who were both living in Florida, later married when she was 15 and he was 19.

The couple divorced after three years of marriage. Then, about two years later, the woman killed herself when she was 20.

The Republican Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs said Thursday that the voting machines Republicans turned over to private companies as part of their audit of the 2020 election are no longer safe for use in future elections. In a letter sent to Maricopa County officials and shared with NBC News, Hobbs, a Democrat, cited security concerns about losing the chain of custody over the equipment when it was handed over to the auditors and urged the county to get new machines. If it does not, her office would consider decertifying the equipment involved in the audit, she wrote. That would remove the machines from service. State Senate Republicans subpoenaed nearly 400 of Maricopa County’s election machines, along with ballots cast by voters in November’s election, to facilitate an unusual audit of the election results. The GOP hired private firms, led by the Florida-based cybersecurity company Cyber Ninjas, to do the work. “I have grave concerns regarding the security and integrity of these machines, given that the chain of custody, a critical security tenet, has been compromised and election officials do not know what was done to the machines while under Cyber Ninjas’ control,” Hobbs wrote in the letter to the county’s mostly Republican Board of Supervisors, which oversees the county elections. In Arizona, the secretary of state can decertify machinery in consultation with the state’s Election Equipment Certification Committee, a three-person panel appointed by Hobbs.

Aside from the predictable blather about involving the pathologically anti-Israel UN, a deeper question arises: How is Joe Biden (or anyone) going to prevent Hamas from “restock[ing] its military arsenal” during these “reconstruction efforts”?

No one, thus far, has been able to figure out how to prevent Hamas from diverting the inevitable deluge of relief funds into obtaining more and better missiles and rebuilding their humungous underground terror tunnel system—other than the obvious, which is to level the terror organization or at least wound them beyond recognition.

But Biden, fresh off a friendly tarmac encounter with Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), would not allow that to happen and told Netanyahu to wind it down, assuring him at the same time the United States would replenish Israel’s supply of Iron Domes.

Meanwhile, shoring up the Palestinian Authority seems more hopeless than ever as their doddering leader Mahmoud Abbas has been made to look even more hapless as compared with a resurgent Hamas.

Who will stop them now, especially since their own losses do not seem to concern them, only killing Jews, as they tell us quite openly in their charter?

Back in 2015, Daniel Greenfield pegged The Elite in The Closing of the Liberal Mind.:

The American liberal is dead from the neck up. A member of the elite, he rules, but has no talent for it. Like the Bolsheviks, he is adept at blaming others for everything and at manufacturing simple slogans. And like them he thinks only in terms of power, control and leverage, without understanding why his intellectual predecessors spent so much building up the institutional influence that he casually squanders by destroying the credibility of journalism, public service and academia.

Generational degradation has robbed him of any sense of time. He is always living in the present, which also seems to him to be the future. The past to him is a treasure trove of eccentricities. And he cannot conceive of any future that supersedes his way of life. Patience, like objectivity, is a foreign notion to him. Nothing can wait for tomorrow or ten years from now. Everything must come about right now. Battles are won, but wars are lost. The liberal hare races ahead into the post-everything future, never considering that in the long-term, it is the slow conservative tortoise that wins the race.

By the time the reader of the Stacey Abrams book Our Time Is Now gets to page 89, he is numb with the relentless contentions that any effort to make the Georgia elections system more secure or economical, any bureaucratic mistake or inefficiency, is evidence of a dastardly scheme to suppress the vote.

Then, he is jolted alert again when Abrams writes how while in the state legislature in 2011, she co-sponsored legislation to slash the early-voting period in Georgia in half — and succeeded.

Yes, by her own logic, Stacey Abrams suppressed the vote in Georgia and did it more blatantly than anything in the state’s new voting law, which will actually extend early-voting hours in many places.

Climate change is causing this horror story.

Generals know that you always fight the last war. So California — already in the clutches of another drought emergency —  is looking over its shoulder at what happened last time, anticipating the worst and evaluating the strategies that worked and those that failed.

So is California in a better position to weather this drought? Some things are worse, some better: Groundwater is still being pumped with no statewide limits, siphoning up drinking water that rural communities rely on. In northern counties, residents are reliving the last disaster as water restrictions kick in again, but in the south, enough water is stored to avoid them for now.

The good news is that in urban areas, most Californians haven’t lapsed back into their old water-wasting patterns. But, while some farmers have adopted water-saving technology, others are drilling deeper wells to suck out more water to plant new orchards.

The upshot is California isn’t ready — again.

“We are in worse shape than we were before the last drought, and we are going to be in even worse shape after this one,” said Jay Lund, co-director of the Center for Watershed Sciences at University of California at Davis.

Trucks are parked along the waters edge in the dry lakebed at Lake Folsom, a state reservoir. The water level is currently at about 48% of historical average.

The most acute problem, experts say, is the lack of controls on groundwater pumping.

“Despite increasingly occurring droughts, we could be doing much better than we are doing,” added Peter Gleick, co-founder of the Pacific Institute, a global water think tank. “We manage finally to get some statewide rules about groundwater, but they are not going to be implemented for years.” As a result, he said, aquifers are still being over-pumped and land is sinking.

And an overarching question lingers: How will Californians cope as the world continues to warm and the dry spells become ever more common and more severe?

Then and now: How does it compare?

Three-fourths of California is already experiencing extreme drought, a designation that only hints at the trickle down of impacts on people, the environment and the economy. Nature’s orderly seasons are upended: As the winter so-called “wet season” ended, Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a drought emergency in 41 counties.

This year’s drought is steadily approaching the peak severity of the last one, climate experts say. It’s a dangerous benchmark: 2012 through 2015 was the state’s driest consecutive four-year stretch since record-keeping began in 1896.

Drought is characterized by deficit — of rainfall, snow, runoff into rivers, storage in reservoirs and more. And all of these factors are in dire shape this year. Some are even worse than they were during the last drought.

Much of the state has received less than half of average rain and snowfall since October, with some areas seeing as little as a quarter. For most of Northern California, the past two years have been the second driest on record.

The Sierra Nevada snowpack, which provides about a third of California’s water, dwindled to 5% of average this month, equaling April 2015’s record-low percentage. That signals trouble for California’s reservoirs — even before the long, dry summer begins.

I hope that President Biden will get the Congress to address clit changes and help the people of California.

The truth may be out there — but President Joe Biden isn’t saying so.

The president ducked a question Friday on "unidentified aerial phenomena" — the subject of renewed interest as the Senate awaits a report from U.S. intelligence agencies on the matter — when a reporter asked him about recent remarks by his former boss.

“President Obama says there is footage and records of objects in the sky — these unidentified aerial phenomena — and he says we don’t know exactly what they are. What do you think?” a reporter asked Biden near the end of a joint news conference with South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the White House.

Biden smiled and responded, “I would ask him again,” before thanking everyone and exiting so quickly he didn’t take his translation earpiece out.

Fox News set off a wave of right-wing anger against Black Lives Matter with a fake headline

COMMENT

Fox News twisted an innocuous tweet from the Black Lives Matter Twitter account about supporting Palestinians into a salacious headline about BLM actively allying with Hamas terrorists.

On the night of May 18, Fox News online published an article with the headline “Black Lives Matter says it stands with Hamas terrorists in Israeli conflict.” The piece centered its claim around the BLM Twitter account which had tweeted the day before that the organization “stands in solidarity with Palestinians.” The BLM tweet did not, however, imply any kind of support for Hamas, which is a Palestinian militant group.

Fox News’ original headline which relayed a wholly inaccurate portrayal of the tweet was left up overnight. Fox changed the headline the next day to correctly reflect BLM’s tweet supporting the Palestinians, but by then many of its affiliates had already posted the piece with the original headline. It took even longer for Fox to add an editor's note at the bottom of the piece noting the headline change after Forbes and Reliable Sources reached out to the network.

Fox’s false characterization of BLM’s support prompted some prominent right-wing figures to promote a fake connection between the BLM movement and Hamas fundamentalists.

Here are some examples of right-wing media figures amplifying this fake claim (the screenshots were captured after Fox changed the headline):

Fox News contributor Joey Jones repeated the lie that “Black Lives Matter now supports Hamas” without any pushback from co-anchors Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer. InfoWars Owen Shroyer used the original Fox headline to complain about the left using BLM or “Hamas or Palestinians” as a “political football” to win over “sympathy points.” Shroyer also claimed that radical Democrats “want to fund a terrorist group. … The radical left Democrats are now on the side of history of kill all Jews.”

This is where you get the claim the President and the Democrats are socialist anti semitic.

But since 2005, when Israel withdrew its troops and settlers from Gaza, Hamas has also engaged in the Palestinian political process. It won the legislative elections in 2006, before reinforcing its power in Gaza the following year by ousting the rival Fatah movement of President Mahmoud Abbas.
Since then, militants in Gaza have fought three wars with Israel, which along with Egypt has maintained a blockade on the strip to isolate Hamas and to pressure it to stop attacks.

So it would appear that the actual factual answer to that question is zero. There are zero people (of any race) incapable of getting a free ID. Those who choose to not get an ID are making a choice. It's not a legal limitation.

So while you like to believe your opinions are "fact". This is actually a fact, Reverend. When liberals suggest that they "only" found XX amount of actual voter fraud, that is XX more than the amount of potential voters who are incapable of securing ID.

FORBES:
Here Are The Ways Republicans Are Trying To Restrict Voting Access

President Donald Trump's outlandish and false claims that widespread voter fraud cost him the 2020 presidential election may have been soundly dismissed in court, but Republican lawmakers across the country have continued the fight at the state level, introducing hundreds of bills to limit ballot access. Here are some of the most prominent measures.

KEY FACTS
A Florida state Senate committee approved a bill Wednesday that would eliminate mail-in ballot drop boxes in the state, despite bipartisan opposition from local election officials.

Other legislation to limit drop box access has been introduced this year in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Georgia.

Almost half of all bills aimed at restricting access seek to limit mail-in voting, according to the Brennan Center for Justice, including an Arizona bill that would require mail-in ballots to be notarized, bills in four states that would prevent absentee ballot applications from being sent if not requested and a South Carolina bill requiring photo ID to be shown to return a mail-in ballot.

Bills have been introduced in 18 states this year to enact tougher voter ID requirements, among the more extreme being a Mississippi measure that would ban an out-of-state driver's license from being an acceptable form of ID to vote and a New Hampshire bill prohibiting student IDs from being used for voting.

Bills to toughen voter registration have been proposed in at least 13 states, the Brennan Center found, such as a Texas bill that would redirect voter registration authority from local officials to the secretary of state's office, which would review registration to verify citizenship in a joint effort with state law enforcement.

Twenty-one bills have been introduced across 12 states that would expand the purging of voter rolls, according to the Brennan Center.

BIG NUMBER 253.
That's the total number of bills the Brennan Center has identified as seeking to restrict voting access. They've been introduced in 43 different states.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Not all bills have a strong chance of passage, depending on the political makeup of state legislatures and the party of the governor, and their electoral impact is likely to vary. There could be substantive changes in Georgia, where President Joe Biden narrowly defeated former President Donald Trump and Democrats managed to knock off both Republican incumbents in U.S. Senate runoffs, winning Democratic control of the chamber. But Republicans hold a strong majority in both chambers of the state legislature, and they've proposed a dozen bills to enact new election restrictions after Trump's continued baseless claims he was robbed of a win there. A major hurdle was cleared Monday for one of the most controversial bills, when the Georgia Senate passed a bill that would eliminate no-excuse absentee voting in the state. Other proposals would limit early voting hours, allow the State Election Board take over election oversight from certain counties and request monthly records to determine if voters have died.

CHIEF CRITICS
Democrats have railed against the proposals as nothing more than voter suppression efforts, and introduced bills of their own aimed at easing voting. There have actually been far more of those bills, according to the Brennan Center, which as of Feb. 19 counted 704 bills in 43 states that sought to expand voting access. GOOD!

KEY BACKGROUND
Many of the bills appear to be directly the result of Trump's groundless fraud claims in the 2020 election. Trump and the GOP lost well over 50 court cases alleging election irregularities, some of which were thrown out by Trump-appointed judges, but Republicans have trudged on behind the claims. The Republican National Committee announced last month the creation of a new Committee on Election Integrity, with RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel saying, “Election integrity is one of the most critical issues we face as a Party and as a country."

BS TRYING TO SUPPRESS VOTER TURNOUT IS NOT "ELECTION INTEGRITY."

DO YOU EVER LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND FEEL SHAME, CH?

NO, YOU ARE BEYOND THAT.

The Time Has Come for the Social Conservative-Fiscal Liberal

We’ve tried everything else.

By Edward Ring

May 22, 2021

Much has been made of Caitlyn Jenner’s entry into the California gubernatorial free-for-all. Much of the political buzz about Jenner has to do with the claim that being “socially liberal and fiscally conservative” is the way forward.

This is supposed to be a magic formula that can transform American politics. In a state like California, the financial tiller of such a high-tax, spendthrift state needs a firm hand. Yet on social issues, the successful politician must be equally uncompromising, i.e., anything goes.

It’s nothing new. Way back in 1980, the politically moderate congressman John Anderson defected from his Republican Party to run as an independent against Ronald Reagan and incumbent Jimmy Carter in the presidential election. Anderson was also known as a “fiscal conservative and social liberal,” although it may have been a little easier to define those terms in those days when we only had two sexes and the national debt–to–GDP ratio was only 32 percent.

So what is a fiscal conservative and a social liberal? Perhaps the socially liberal part of it is somewhat easier to imagine. In California, to be a social liberal is to accept a Byzantine and constantly evolving set of rules that include the following: Men can have periods and women can have penises, but all white people are immutably white and hence suffer from privilege, fragility, and unconscious bias. The social liberal believes that heroin or methamphetamine addiction is a legitimate lifestyle choice, and theft is often not a crime, but a “poverty crime” that should be decriminalized. The list goes on. And on and on.
