Biden the moron blows up his own "bi-partsan bill"

Did Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer Already Blow Up the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal?

On Thursday, the group of five Senate Republicans and five Senate Democrats joined President Biden at the White House to announce that they had reached a deal to spend $579 billion on infrastructure over the next five years. But around the same time as the deal was announced, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made clear that a bipartisan Senate bill would not even receive a vote in the House until all 50 Senate Democrats and Harris had first passed a big reconciliation bill. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer backed Pelosi’s plan, and Biden soon followed suit: At a second press conference on Thursday afternoon, the president said that if the bipartisan deal “is the only thing that comes to me, I’m not signing it.”

The Biden-Pelosi-Schumer strategy has already received some blowback from members of Congress. Two negotiators of the Senate deal, Republican Susan Collins of Maine and Democrat Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, rejected the idea of conditioning a bipartisan deal on the passage of a Democrats-only reconciliation bill.
Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, one of the ten Senate Republicans who expressed support for the bipartisan deal, flatly said that he’d vote against it if it followed the passage of a partisan reconciliation bill. “If reports are accurate that President Biden is refusing to sign a bipartisan deal unless reconciliation is also passed, that would be the ultimate deal breaker for me,” Graham wrote on Twitter. “I don’t mind working with the other side for the common good, but I’m not going to be extorted by liberal Democrats or anyone else.”
A few hours later, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell went on Fox News to say that Democratic leadership’s insistence on passing a big, partisan reconciliation bill first had made him “pessimistic” that the bipartisan deal would make it through the upper chamber.

There is no such thing as bi-partsianship here folks. Biden and the Democrats are not programmed to work with anyone from the other side. They agree to some bi-partsisan spending, under the guise that they will get the rest in a partisan reconciliation action.

Now it appears that even the Republicans who negotiated it (and even at least one Democrat) are no longer on board with the bipartisan bill. This can be blamed entirely on the stupidity of Biden and the partisanship of Pelosi and Schumer.

Interestingly, after Joe the moron plugged his "bi-partisan" bill, he then caved into the demands of Pelosi / Schumer who apparently have Biden hooked by the mouth and have no intentions of letting him swin around on his own.

If he can keep the Democrats and pass the second legislature using the reconciliation process, he will have kept the Democrats united.

Unless Republicans uniformly recognize the threat and oppose it right now, the U.S. military will become unrecognizable, a hideous caricature that replaces the force that won two world wars with an automaton that can only repeat.

Senators to Talk Again on Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal

Republican and Democratic senators who negotiated an infrastructure deal will hold a phone call this afternoon amid GOP fury at President Biden conditioning a deal on a massive budget reconciliation package,SUCH "FURY" IS FAKE HYPOCRISY.

AS T. GODDARD POINTS OUT,
"To those who think Republicans were actually surprised Democrats would also try a reconciliation bill, it was reported widely earlier this month.

President Biden blindsided the Republicans.

WASHINGTON, June 25 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with Democratic Senator Krysten Sinema on the bipartisan infrastructure agreement, the White House said Friday, and reiterated his support for a "two-track" legislation process that includes a second reconciliation bill.

"The President reiterated strong support for both the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill and a reconciliation bill containing the American Families Plan moving forward on a two-track system, as he said yesterday when meeting the press with the bipartisan group of ten Senators," the White House said in a statement.

After House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said early on Thursday her chamber would not vote on the first infrastructure package unless the second reconciliation bill passed the Senate, Biden publicly seconded the idea.

"I expect that in the coming months this summer, before the fiscal year is over, that we will have voted on this bill, the infrastructure bill, as well as voted on the budget resolution," Biden told reporters on Thursday. "But if only one comes to me, I'm not signing it. It's in tandem."

Some Republicans in Congress, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, have objected to linking the two bills together, and accused Biden of bad-faith negotiations.

A Republican source familiar with Thursday's White House meeting said the topic of reconciliation came up only briefly and without administration pressure on either the Republican or Democratic lawmakers present.

Republicans later said they felt blindsided by Biden's comment that he would not sign the bipartisan legislation alone and that the measure would have to move in tandem with reconciliation.

The people who actually believed that he is Sleepy Joe Biden have been blindsided by Biden.

He does face a difficult task, but I remember when you said that he was mentally disabled, when you used Sleepy Joe Biden campaign comments. He played you like a kid.

Reverend...

As I stated earlier...

If Democrats were going to push for trillions of dollars through reconciliation, then there was no use for a "bi-partisan" bill.

Two parties negotiate.

They come to an agreement in the middle.

Then one Party demands that they will make an agreement in the middle, but then will simply "take" the portion that they gave up in negotiations anyways..

Then it wasn't really a negotiation, was it?

Do you even understand what a negotiation is, Reverend?

C.H. Truth said...

So Democrats want whatever...

Say 2 trillion.

Republicans want say 500 billion.

They negotiate a deal at just under 1 trillion.

But then Democrats just say they are going to pass the other 1 trillion through reconciliation.

Doesn't that make that entire "negotiation" a flipping waste of time?

What sort of moron doesn't get this?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

President Biden yesterday announced "we have a deal" on an infrastructure bill, while surrounded by a bipartisan group of senators in the White House driveway.

Between the lines: No they don't. Unless you want to make the word "deal" as squishy as the word "infrastructure" has become.

Why it matters: There is still no clarity on corporate or individual tax rates, including for income already earned in 2021.

State of play: Yesterday's agreement primarily focuses on new spending for physical infrastructure, including broadband. The IRS would get extra resources to close the so-called "tax gap," but there aren't any rate hikes. Carried interest is not addressed in the information disclosed so far.

Wait, that sounds like a deal: Biden says he wants to dance a legislative two-step. Get this $1.2 trillion infrastructure package through with GOP support, but only if he can also get a separate bill passed via reconciliation. Which may be like saying I came to an agreement with the Lamborghini dealer, so long as I can get one other thing done first.

Indeed, some Senate Republicans are already saying they won't be held hostage to such an arrangement, with Lindsay Graham calling it a "deal breaker."

Timing: Congress is likely to work through the August recess and into the fall, per Axios' Hans Nichols. And with each passing day, the prospective of retroactive taxes becomes more complicated. Same goes for investors seeking to make decisions related to the prospective infrastructure spend.

The bottom line: Infrastructure Week may never end.

But it will happen because the Republicans who voted for the first legislation will be able to show pictures of bridges and airports etc under construction and claim credit. If not the President and the Democrats will provide videos of bridges collapsing.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The National Review compared Biden to The Godfather. Some of the same rhetoric I used..

That brings us to the ringleader — Biden himself.

Appearing in front of the White House with the group of senators on Thursday, Biden was all smiles, touting the amazing bipartisan achievement. He spoke about how he had to give up some of the things that he wanted, such as the “human infrastructure” of subsidized child care, to reach an agreement.

“They have my word,” Biden said. “I’ll stick with what we’ve proposed, and they’ve given me their word as well,” he said. He earlier claimed, “A lot of us go back a long way, where we’re used to doing one thing — give each other our word, and that’s the end.”

But that is not the end.

Later in the day, Biden told reporters that he would not in fact sign the bipartisan infrastructure deal unless it came to his desk together with the Democrats-only reconciliation package. He said, of the bipartisan bill, “if only one comes to me, this is the only one that comes to me, I’m not signing it. It’s in tandem.”

Given that Democrats are treating the two bills as a package deal, why should Republicans view them any other way? Biden is not in fact giving up any ground by signing on to some provisions with Republicans if he’s going to get everything he wants anyway via a partisan parliamentary maneuver. All that Republicans would be giving Biden would be the veneer of bipartisan cover. Imagine if, in 2017, Donald Trump and Senator Mitch McConnell announced a bipartisan deal with Democrats on some tax-reform provisions they agreed with, then passed the rest of the Republican tax bill anyway and called it bipartisan tax reform. It would be viewed as absurd, and rightly so. Such is the case this time around.

Republicans should reject this patently ridiculous and inaptly named “compromise.”

Mitch McConnell still hasn't come out in opposition to the first legislation.

The Republican base doesn't want to negotiate with anyone anymore.

President Reagan had weekly meetings with the Democrats and Republicans.

Neither side has been doing this since the end of the Reagan administration.

Senate Republican Geniuses Tricked by... Joe Biden

So here's how it went:

Biden, after passing six trillion in new spending, wanted another three trillion for "infrastructure."

"Infrastructure" now defined to not mean roads, bridges, ports and airports, but "human infrastructure," like... child care. And all other items on the socialist wish list.

The GOP stupidly entered negotiations.

They came to what they stupidly thought was an agreement: one trillion in real infrastructure. The Democrats could also vote on a separate two trillion bill for "human infrastructure," and Senate Republicans would vote against that.

But then Joe Biden, who is also stupid, blurted out that he intended, once the infrastructure compromise bill was voted on and passed by the Senate, to use the rules of reconciliation to pack the bill back with the two trillion for "human infrastructure."

And Senate Republicans couldn't stop this. Once a bill has been passed and is in the reconciliation process, there is no filibuster any longer.

So the Democrats could now pass their three trillion fake "infrastructure" bill with just 50 Democrat votes, plus the Mad Cackler Kamala Mouthlove.

It's absolutely incredible that Senate Republicans -- for all their weakness and stupidity-- could get tricked by the very stupid brain of Joe Biden, but that's the GOP Establishment working on all six cylinders, folks.

I don't believe they were "tricked."

I think they understood this was the plan all along.

I just think they were blindsided by the decrepit, dying-brained Joe Biden stating what the plan was in public, so that they could no longer feign public surprise about the plan they'd agreed to in private.

Bonchie demands a "reckoning" for our Failure Theater senators.

It's difficult to get played by a senile old man whose brain has the consistency of pudding, but somehow, Republicans managed that feat today. Failure theater is back, and it's reaching new heights.

As RedState reported earlier, Biden announced an agreement on a bipartisan infrastructure deal, complete with a grinning Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski standing beside him. Following that dog and pony show, the president then proceeded to demonstrate the finer points of existing with cognitive decline. Regardless, according to the Republicans on the negotiating team, this was supposed to be a great victory and show of unity.

Of course, then reality smacked them in the face. Biden, within an hour, let it be known that he would not sign the bipartisan agreement unless he was given everything else he wants in a reconciliation package that would naturally be passed along party lines.

http://ace.mu.nu/archives/394451.php

This is why President Trump is the leader of those who have left the Republican Party. The Republican Party of Murkowski and Sasse, Romney and Collins. The failure party. The party who get's rolled by a racist, sexual predator in late stage dementia.

U.S. stocks rose on Friday with the S&P 500 building on its rally to records, as investors bet that higher inflation will be temporary as the economy continues to recover from the pandemic.

The broad equity benchmark climbed 0.3% to hit another closing record high of 4,280.70. Financials were the best-performing S&P 500 sector with a 1.3% gain. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 237.02 points, or 0.7%, to 34,433.84, sitting less than 2% from its record. The Nasdaq Composite erased earlier gains and closed 0.1% lower at 14,360.39 amid a rise in bond yields. The 10-year Treasury yield jumped 4 basis points to 1.52%.

The S&P 500 rallied 2.7% for the week, notching its biggest weekly gain since early February. The Dow gained 3.4% this week for its best week since mid-March, while the Nasdaq advanced 2.4%.

Friday’s rally came after a key inflation indicator that the Federal Reserve uses to set policy rose 3.4% in May, the fastest increase since the early 1990s, the Commerce Department reported Friday. The reading matched the expectation from economists polled by Dow Jones. The core index rose 0.5% for the month, which actually was below the 0.6% estimate.

The core personal consumption expenditures price index increase reflects the rapid pace of economic expansion and resulting price pressures, and amplified how far the nation has come since the pandemic-induced shutdown of 2020.

“This provided support to the Fed’s argument that inflation is transitory and will help allay fears that we are witnessing runaway inflation,” said Anu Gaggar, senior global Investment analyst at Commonwealth Financial Network. “This should continue to provide support to risk assets such as equities.”

The are two factors that have driven up the price of oil. One is that demand collapsed last year as pandemic measures were implemented and people stopped traveling. The price of oil plummeted. That, in turn, ended up idling 3 million barrels per day (BPD) of U.S. oil production relative to a year ago.

As the end of the pandemic nears, oil demand is bouncing back. Supply doesn’t respond as quickly, and therefore that puts pressure on prices. If you think Biden is responsible for hastening the end of the pandemic, then you can place some blame for the rise in oil prices on him. But that’s because the economy is beginning to recover, which is a good thing.
