So we now have three polls that put Biden at or under 50%.  Of course, you can go back a while further you will still see a poll or two over 60% because some media outlets are convinced that Republicans only make up about 25% of the population. But for now, things seem to be on the downturn. With possible economic issues coming up, who knows what is next.

It is duly noted that Biden did not allow Putin to make a sycophantish clown of him the way Trump did.

Biden let Putin go first, and then he came out and quashed him.

But does he want to be (again)?

So his ratings are important, no?

Democrats are very worry. Even they know Biden approval ratings are overstated. Combine rhat with there support of destructive ideologies such as critical race theory and you got even suburban moms voting Republican. And they will vote Republican to protect their kids from CRT.

Bottom line. The party that says America sucks, most of the people in America suck, and wants to teach your children America sucks and has suck from\ the beginning is not likely to win an election.

Quashed who??

Putin got everything he wanted. Biden got nothing. Biden couldn't even do a joint press conference because then he wouldn't be able to control which press got called on. It was an unmitigated disaster.

He didn't have to. He came as a weak, dementia ridden who needed his staff approval on hls every move.

WASHINTON POST
Opinion:
The biggest winner in the Biden-Putin summit: Democracy

It is not often a reporter’s question becomes the most memorable moment of a U.S.-Russia summit. But ABC News’s Rachel Scott, in her grilling of Russian President Vladimir Putin, showed the strength of confident democracies over defensive autocracies and the majesty of a free press:

Putin’s response devolved into third-rate whataboutism with a rambling remark about the Jan. 6 insurrection. It did not go unnoticed that he didn’t quibble with the premise of her question, namely that he runs a brutal autocracy.

(It is also significant that his assertion that protesters were the victims of government aggression is identical to the talking points of some Republicans.)

Putin offered a few compliments to President Biden — some that were intentional (e.g., that Biden is experienced in diplomacy), and others that were not (e.g., that Biden’s views on human rights are different than Biden’s predecessor).

He also provided a glimpse into his gloomy worldview: “There is no happiness in life. There’s only a mirage on the horizon.”

The contrast between Putin and Biden was on clear display during their individual news conferences. Even the settings of those events were remarkably distinct: Putin held his inside; Biden’s was outside, with bright sunshine and a picturesque background.

Biden emphasized his defense of human rights and democracy. “I pointed out to [Putin], that’s why we are going to raise our concerns about cases, like Alexei Navalny. I made it clear to President Putin, and will continue to raise issues of fundamental human rights, because that’s what we are. That’s who we are,” he recounted. “No president of the United States could keep faith with the American people if they did not speak out to defend our democratic values. . . . Human rights is going to always be on the table, I told him.” The president also warned that if Navalny died, the consequences for Russia would be devastating. When asked about Putin’s false equivalency between his jailing of a dissident and Jan. 6, Biden declared it a “ridiculous comparison.”

What a difference a presidential election makes.

Here was a sober, serious U.S. president defending democracy and standing firm against a thuggish dictator. It was as far as one could get from his predecessor’s cringeworthy performance in Helsinki — when the former president sided with Putin over his own intelligence community.

In keeping with his goal to stabilize relations with Russia, Biden said, “Bottom line is, I told President Putin that we need to have some basic rules of the road that we can all abide by.” To that end, the two countries will “launch a bilateral strategic stability dialogue, diplomatic speak for saying, get our military experts and our diplomats together to work on a mechanism that can lead to control of new and dangerous and sophisticated weapons.”

Biden sounded restrained but confident as he underscored the constructive tone of the meeting and the benefits of meeting face-to-face. While affirming that his “agenda is not against a Russia or anyone else, it’s for the American people,” he frankly said this was not a kumbaya moment.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Should Putin again interfere with a U.S. election, Biden warned, “He knows I will take action.” He also apparently warned Putin about cyberattacks on U.S. infrastructure. This is not about friendship or liking one another, Biden commented. “It’s pure business.”

Conservatives who railed against the summit and feared that it would give Putin a victory will need to reassess their judgment.

This was about not concrete results; it was about declaring that the leader of the free world — unapologetic about human rights and confident about its democratic system — was up and running once again.

Biden comes back to the United States with increased stature and unity among allies.

He achieved what he came to do in Geneva: reasserting American values and conveying to Russia the risks of its reckless aggression.

The point here was not to attain capitulation. “I’m not confident” Putin will change his conduct, Biden said bluntly. But he did eradicate any misconception that the last four years were anything more than a nightmarish aberration and reestablished the United States’ democratic bona fides.

ADVANTAGE BIDEN!

Why Biden Should Take the Infrastructure Deal

June 17, 2021 at 8:45 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 5 Comments
Punchbowl News:
Biden should take it because he has a lot of stuff to get done. And the most efficient and best way to get the most stuff done is to get some stuff done all the time, so you have less stuff to do.

Make sense?
There’s a deal on the table, or at least the outlines for a deal.
Support the process.

If it comes together and makes sense fiscally — and Republicans can deliver a big block of Senate votes, at least 25 to 30 — ask your party to swallow it and move on.
Victory is at hand.

Also: “Anytime anyone offers you $1 trillion, just take it. Seriously.

Biden lived through the Obama era, when Hill Republicans were looking to cut money each week… Republicans want to give you $1 trillion with no tax increases and no deficit spending.
Take the deal.”

Tagen Goddard comments:
"The biggest reason is that good policy is always good politics. This legislation would provide money to solve real problems."

OTHER OPINION:
Why Biden Should Not Take the Infrastructure Deal
June 17, 2021 at 8:45 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 8 Comments

Punchbowl News:
There’s a pretty compelling reason to not take the smaller bipartisan bill, and it’s this:

If Congress jams everything from Biden’s American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan into one massive, multi-trillion dollar reconciliation package, then lawmakers only have to take one vote.

If Biden takes the bipartisan deal, they’ll have to take at least two votes. One vote is easier than two — always. Plus, the bigger the package, the harder it is to hate — theoretically.

Also:
Don’t be cute. In order to pass a bipartisan infrastructure bill, Biden will have to corral Democrats to simultaneously support a separate reconciliation package filled with more controversial spending provisions for social programs. Don’t you realize how hard that’s going to be?

It’s a bank shot — at best.

Typically when legislating seems a bit too complex to pull off, it is.”
_____

Taegan Goddard observes:
The biggest reason is that time is short. Passing one bill as soon as possible will take far less time than trying to pass another one.

Our media is trying to get its bunks rocking by fantasizing about Biden giving Putin a firm handshake. The enduring moments of this meeting, the things that will be noted and remembered around the world, are Biden in retreat, submissive and confused, backing down from his hype.

Biden helplessly pleading with Putin not to cyberattack vital infrastructure targets. Biden nodding dumbly when asked if he trusts Putin, after all that bluster about putting the "killer" in his place. Putin getting pipeline and arms concessions while the U.S. gets nothing.

These summits are always going to be mostly theatrics. It's probably a mistake to elevate Putin by agreeing to meet as "equals." In a sense, he wins just by showing up. U.S. leaders keep fantasizing about winning him over or putting him on the back foot with their personal charm.

The major reason for his low approval rating is millions of Americans believe
this article published Monday by Revolver News, a right-wing website. From there, it was picked up by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who used his opening segment on Tuesday night to slam the FBI, saying it played a role in the January 6 attack.

Several Republican lawmakers quickly piled on. They entered the article into the congressional record, tweeted about the Fox News segment, condemned the FBI agents who supposedly "organized and participated" in the Capitol attack, and demanded answers from the FBI director.

The Sleepy Joe attacks influence millions of Americans who get their information from Fox news and right wing nutcase websites, like the revolver.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

This is another reason why. Millions of people believe this. That might be the Russian crazy mothrf***r crap.

Revolver’s major investigation into the January 6 Capitol incident has sparked a gargantuan response from Congress and the press.

First, the backstory.

In a report published late Sunday night, Revolver explored the federal indictments against members of the Proud Boys and Oathkeepers, and found that the leading planners and provocateurs of the 1/6 incursion weren’t the individuals who have been publicly charged with crimes, but the unindicted persons who were present at the Capitol alongside them.

Revolver’s investigation raised disturbing possibilities. Would 1/6 have happened without substantial agitation by federal law enforcement to make it happen? Did shadowy forces recognize the January 6 rally from the beginning as an opportunity to harm the Trump movement to take back America? Was the entire militia/white nationalist “threat” substantially a creation of federal law enforcement for the purpose of defaming and discrediting right-wing populism?

Revolver has raised the questions. But it will take work by allies within the government to reveal the full truth. And thankfully, several lawmakers are already stepping up.

Late Tuesday, in the wake of Revolver’s investigation, Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding to know how many undercover federal agents and informants were present at the Capitol, what roles they played, and how many of them had infiltrated the Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, and Three Percenters:

You started the same thing on January 6th !

Trump Admits He Didn’t Win Election
June 17, 2021 at 10:54 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 70 Comments
Former President Donald Trump appeared to admit in a Fox News interview that he lost the presidential election.

Said Trump:
“We got them by surprise in ‘16, and in ‘20 we did much better than we did in ‘16. Shockingly, we were supposed to win easily at 64 million votes and we got 75 million votes. We didn’t win, but let’s see what happens on that. The whole thing was shocking.”

Trump added that he wants Biden to do well: “I think the election was unbelievably unfair, but I want this guy to go out and do well for our country.”

Putin Says Biden Was Very Sharp
June 17, 2021 at 10:05 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 53 Comments
In an interview on Russian television, President Vladimir Putin disputed the narrative used by some Republicans questioning President Joe Biden’s mental health saying it had “nothing to do with reality.”

Said Putin:
“He had no jet lag, was cheerful, we spoke eye to eye two-plus hours. He’s completely of sound mind and should be taken seriously.”
