Democrats continue to underperform in special elections

With the exception of one race in Arizona (which attracted national attention, mobilization, and fundraising from the National Democratic Party), this has been a particularly tough special election season so far for the Party of Biden.

Of course, I would expect for Republicans to do better in Georgia (even in the Atlanta suburb race here) as there is little opportunity to drag out vote counting for a week or more, constantly finding and adding more ballots as you go.

Might be difficult in many of these states now that voting laws are in place that make the counting transparent.

The Russian president agreed
with S.Scott Johnson and compared Navalny and pro-Democracy protests to the pro-Trump mob that overwhelmed Capitol Police, beating many, and forced the evacuation of the House and Senate during the largely ceremonial counting of the Electoral College vote in the presidential election.

Putin and Scott have argued that people in the mob, many of whom are facing charges for violent crimes, are political prisoners.

"As for who is killing whom or are throwing whom in jail, people came to the U.S. Congress with political demands,” Putin said, according to an interpreter. "Over 400 people had criminal charges placed on them. They face prison sentences of up to 28, maybe even 25 years. They’re being called domestic terrorists." Instead of peaceful protesters who were not white enough.

The Justice Department on Wednesday dropped its lawsuit against President Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton over the publication of his tell-all book, “The Room Where it Happened.”

Why it matters: The move comes a year after the Trump administration sued Bolton in federal court, claiming he breached his contract by failing to complete a pre-publication review for classified information.

What they're saying: "This is a complete vindication," Bolton told Axios in a phone interview on Wednesday. "They're just giving up."

Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday reversed legal opinions issued under the Trump administration that severely restricted asylum claims based on domestic and gang violence, as well as persecution stemming from family ties.

In vacating the decisions issued by his predecessors, Jeff Sessions and William Barr, Garland cited an executive order by President Biden that instructed officials to determine whether current asylum policies provide refuge to victims of gang and domestic violence "in a manner consistent with international standards."

The rescission of the restrictions could pave the way for a broad shift in U.S. asylum policy, since many of the protection claims made by Central American migrants along the southern border cite domestic and gang violence, which are prevalent in some parts of the region.

Over four years, the Trump administration enacted multiple rules, programs and international agreements to restrict access to the U.S. asylum system at the southwest border, arguing that most Central Americans journeying north were economic migrants ineligible for U.S. humanitarian protection.

Why more difficult? You receive the ballot and put it through the tabulation machine (or better yet the voter himself puts it through the tabulation machine.) and the machine counts the votes.

Wonderful thing about the modern paper ballot tabulation machines. It can support ballots for multiple voting precinct with a change in the barcode to indicate which precinct.

Ideal for two precinct to share the same location or for early voting or to count absentee ballots.

The craziest people rule your mind.

Of course, white people also get killed by rogue cops, and no one has the skin color of a band-aid.

But what really undermines this nonsense preached from the gospel of political correctness is that the fundamental divisions in post-industrial society are not based on race, but on distinctions that come from the division of labor or class.

Our wants, needs, aspirations, and fulfillments are anchored in social class. There exists an association between racial/ethnic groups and social class as a function of history and culture, but people have class interests that transcend race. The objective of the BLM movement and its Marxist progenitors is to convince America that all social, political, and economic issues are grounded in race.

Why? Because in America, a hundred years of trying to bring about a Marxist takeover based on class has failed miserably.  Not because class is insignificant, but because in America social mobility, not societal destruction, is the aspiration of every generation.

If you want to see true multiculturalism, turn on CNBC in the morning, where skin color takes a back seat to the ability to run a company, investment fund, or be a successful analyst. The only color people are interested in is green.

The purveyors of chaos and destruction have been unsuccessful in organizing assaults on the social order by ideologies based on class. Marxism in America never took root because social mobility is higher than any place in the world.

Then along came the death of George Floyd, and the race-baiters and their leftist allies saw a divisiveness that would spread into virtually every institution in society, especially in the educational system, where guilt and self-flagellation have become a substitute for rational inquiry.

The simple class dichotomies of Marxism did not work, so the disseminators of chaos have replaced class with race. Ironically, to solve the race problem in America, the race-baiters would have you believe that you must eventually get rid of capitalism.

This hijacking of race to promote class warfare is a piece of political incongruity evidenced by white radicals identifying with Black Lives Matter in face-offs against police lines that often comprise more blacks than do the agitators indulging their pubescent revolutionary fantasies.

As the reaction infiltrates our colleges and universities, the rest of us might find ourselves caught in the middle between the purveyors of two different hatreds, neither of which bodes well for our future.

Biden praised as 'not Trump'

Biden had one big advantage going into Wednesday’s summit — the low bar set by his predecessor.

When Trump met Putin in Helsinki in 2018, the U.S. president was widely criticized for a craven performance. Trump infamously appeared to take Putin’s word over the testimony of U.S. intelligence agencies about whether Russia had meddled in the 2016 presidential election.

The late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) branded Trump’s behavior at that meeting “disgraceful.”

Biden has sought to reassure U.S. allies over the past week that “America is back” — a clear allusion to the disruption and frequent chaos of the Trump years.

Much of the commentary that initially followed Wednesday’s summit measured Biden’s performance against that of his predecessor.

For the most part, Biden earned positive reviews simply by staying within the standard parameters. In doing so, he offered a contrast to Trump’s seeming delight in trampling on every line.

America is back.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D) has indicated what changes he’d like to see to both the sprawling democracy overhaul bill the Senate is slated to vote on next week and a measure to restore the Voting Rights Act that has yet to be formally introduced.

Manchin is seeking to strip several major ballot access provisions from the For the People Act, the bill currently before the Senate, which is also known as S.1. He also wants to scale back the reach of the Voting Right Act’s preclearance regime, weakening what’s in previous versions of the VRA restoration legislation, known as the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Preclearance is the requirement that certain states with a history of racially discriminatory voting practices get federal approval for election policy changes. It was gutted by the Supreme Court in 2013, and Republicans refused to revive it when they controlled Congress.

According to a proposal document made public Wednesday, Manchin also opposes S.1’s requirement that states offer no-excuse absentee voting. He also wants changes to its voter ID language. Currently, S.1 would require that states allow non-ID holders an affidavit option to confirm their identity; Manchin’s proposal vaguely alludes to letting voters show utility bills or other forms of identification that some photo ID states do not now allow.

Manchin, according to the document, favors S.1’s mandates for early in person voting, automatic voter registration, and notifications to voters when their precinct locations change. He also wants to ban partisan gerrymandering and has proposed, in his compromise offer, making Election Day a federal holiday (a proposal that has mixed support in the voting rights community because of unintended consequences that could make voting harder for some.)

The press conference wrapped up what appeared to be a relatively error-free event for Biden, potentially sparing him the widespread criticism faced by other recent presidents following their own meetings with Putin. Donald Trump drew fire for appearing to take the word of Putin over the U.S. intelligence community on election interference, and George W. January 6th was staged by the FBI to keep President Trump from being sworn in on January 20th.

it turns out that the federal government (FBI, Army Counterintelligence, or a similar agency) had undercover agents or confidential informants embedded in any of the groups involved in 1/6, the “federal intelligence agencies failing to warn of a potential for violence” looks less like an innocent mistake and more like something sinister.

Indeed, if the federal government knew of a potential for violence in or around the Capitol on 1/6 and failed to call for heightened security, the agencies responsible may in fact be legally liable for the damages incurred during that day.

It is unsettling to entertain the possibility that the federal government knew of a potential for violence on 1/6 and did nothing to stop it. It presents the question: why would agencies, or certain elements within, sit back and let something like this happen on purpose?

A still more disturbing possibility arises from a careful study of the unindicted co-conspirators listed throughout the various charging documents of individuals facing the most serious charges related to 1/6.

We at Revolver News have noticed a pattern from our now months-long investigation into 1/6 — and in particular from our meticulous study of the charging documents related to those indicted. In many cases the unindicted co-conspirators appear to be much more aggressive and egregious participants in the very so-called “conspiracy” serving as the basis for charging those indicted.

The question immediately arises as to why this is the case, and forces us to consider whether certain individuals are being protected from indictment because they were involved in 1/6 as undercover operatives or confidential informants for a federal agency.

Here it is useful to draw a distinction between two discrete categories of

Here it is useful to draw a distinction between two discrete categories of participants in the so-called Capitol
Siege.

The first category is the group of mostly harmless tourists who walked through already opened doors and already-removed barricades, and at most were guilty of minor trespassing charges and light property offenses. The second group consists of those who were violent with police officers, broke down barricades, smashed windows, belonged to a “militia” group engaged in military-style planning prior to the event, discussed transporting heavy weaponry, and so forth.

Up until now, the overwhelming (perhaps exclusive) share of counter-establishment reporting on 1/6 has focused on absolving the first group. And this is a valuable thing. The notion that these harmless “MAGA moms” wandering around the Capitol were domestic terrorists engaged in an insurrection is absurd. That many of these people are being held in prison, without bail, under harsh conditions, amounts to an unacceptable and outrageous abuse of basic human rights.

However, the possibility that the federal government had undercover operatives or informants involved in the events of 1/6, from its planning to its execution, compels us to turn our attention to the second category of participants.

We are especially interested in the unindicted co-conspirators who belonged to any of the big three “militia groups” — the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, and the Three Percenters. Indeed, it is these militia groups whose behavior, statements and planning leading up to and during 1/6 most closely align with the “violent insurrectionist” caricature we hear about in the media, and which the government claims to be going after in its aggressive prosecutions.

If it turns out that an extraordinary percentage of the members of these groups involved in planning and executing the Capitol Siege were federal informants or undercover operatives, the implications would be nothing short of staggering. This would be far worse than the already bad situation of the government knowing about the possibility of violence and doing nothing. Instead, this would imply that elements of the federal government were active instigators in the most egregious and spectacular aspects of 1/6, amounting to a monumental entrapment scheme used as a pretext to imprison otherwise harmless protestors at the Capitol — and in a much larger sense used to frame the entire MAGA movement as potential domestic terrorists.

This is what’s at stake in getting to the bottom of 1/6.

And so we proceed, unafraid, to investigate the question on which everything else pertaining to 1/6 hinges — did the government have informants or undercover agents in any or all of the “big three” militia groups leading up to or on 1/6? How many of the key unindicted co-conspirators in DOJ prosecutions are unindicted because they are undercover operatives or confidential informants?

In short, what did the federal government know in advance about 1/6, when did they know it — and how far did any undercover operations go?
We need to know!

Fox News gave only passing thought to critical race theory until last year. The first mention on the network occurred after Bell died, in 2012. A video of President Barack Obama praising him 21 years earlier began circulating online. “Open up your minds and your hearts to the words of Mr. Derrick Bell,” Obama said. That introduction was followed by a hug between the two men, which Fox cited as further evidence of Obama’s tendency to consort with radicals. A guest on Hannity offhandedly alluded to the theory during a segment on George Zimmerman’s trial for the murder of Trayvon Martin in 2014; network regulars briefly referred to it twice in 2019. Then, in 2020, after Derek Chauvin was captured on video kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes, and the United States became awash in anti-racist reading lists—some of which included books and articles that discussed critical race theory—Fox suddenly took a great interest in the idea. It became the latest in a long line of racialized topics (affirmative action perhaps being the most prominent) that the network has jumped on. Since June 5, 2020, the phrase has been invoked during 150 broadcasts

Just a talking point because they don't have an agenda.

Putin sounded like Trump and Scott,!

Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again highlighted the political persecution of protesters who took to Capitol Hill on January 6. Putin told reporters in Geneva on Wednesday, political freedoms in Russia in comparison to the U.S. appear to be equally restricted.

“People went into U.S. congress with political demands. 400 people are now facing criminal charges,” he explained. “They are facing prison terms of up to 20, maybe 25 years. They are called home grown terrorists.”

Putin also pointed out hundreds of Capitol protesters have been subjected to arbitrary detention while Ashli Babbitt, who he referred to as a non-threatening woman, was shot dead. He argued these arrests are a violation of basic human rights.

“Many people are facing the same things as we do and I am stressing this, we are sympathizing with the United States,” he expressed. “But we do not want the same thing repeating here.”

Putin went on to state the U.S. does not have a moral high ground when talking about political freedoms due to the apparent persecution of conservatives on U.S. soil.

At the hand-off between MSNB hosts Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell, the ladder explained there was very serious breaking news: former President Donald Trump finally conceded the 2020 election to President Joe Biden.

While it's been eight months since the election, Trump has never been willing to admit that he lost. Wednesday night, however, June 16, 2021, Trump finally admitted it's over and that he wishes Joe Biden a successful presidency.

"And this is big," O'Donnell prefaced. "Donald Trump finally conceded tonight, he delivered the concession speech. He did. Yes. Not making this up. To Sean Hannity on that hour. Here's how it went. It's not the traditional form. First of all, Sean Hannity said to him, more than once, began questions with, 'if you were still president.' And Donald Trump did not correct him. Donald Trump went on and said words. I'm not going to say he answered the question, but he said words after the question mark. More than once: 'If you were still president.' And then towards the end of the discussion, Donald Trump actually said this about Joe Biden. 'I want him to do well.' Now that is — that's in every concession speech. 'I want him to do well.' I mean, that's it. That — there it is. The concession speech."

GENEVA — In a political career spanning four decades, President Biden has seen American presidents from both parties try to transform the U.S. relationship with Russia only to leave office disappointed.
In his first meeting as commander in chief with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Biden intended not to make the same mistake.

He would make no overtures for a reset in relations, and his pessimism about the prospects of changing Putin’s mind on issues such as human rights would inform his actions.

“This is not about trust. This is about self-interest,” he told reporters at a news conference in Switzerland after a three-hour summit on Wednesday. “This is not a kumbaya moment.”

In setting up the meeting in the Swiss lakeside city, Biden’s aides left nothing to chance.

To avoid falling short of expectations, they played down the likelihood of even modest accomplishments. To avoid appearing weak, they negotiated that Putin would arrive at the venue first, eliminating the chances that the Russian leader would keep the U.S. president waiting by showing up late — a frequent Putin psychological tactic. To avoid any surprises, they decided against holding a joint news conference, which might prompt moments of spontaneity and improvisation.

With expectations set low and pushed even lower by the talks’ ending earlier than expected, Putin and Biden emerged from the meetings with a pleasant surprise: incremental progress on a handful of issues.

“There has been no hostility,” Putin told reporters after the meeting. “On the contrary, our meeting took place in a constructive spirit.”

Nearly 3 million people tuned in to Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show on the evening of June 2, a number equivalent to nearly 1 percent of the country. Among the things those viewers heard from Carlson that night was a staggering accusation of duplicity if not illegality on the part of the country’s top infectious-disease expert, Anthony S. Fauci.
Carlson accused Fauci of lying under oath, of lying during a news conference and of being somehow implicated in criminal activity based on the contents of a number of emails released publicly under a Freedom of Information Act request. Those emails included a heavy dose of redacted sections — one such section itself prompted Carlson’s speculation about criminality — but included enough Lego pieces for Carlson to build what he wanted to build

What evidence was there, for example, for Carlson to imply that Fauci believed that the coronavirus had been created in a Chinese lab and, further, that it was a product of “gain of function” research, something Fauci denied during a Senate hearing? It centered on a Feb. 1, 2020, call among a number of researchers. The evening before the call, a scientist named Kristian Andersen emailed Fauci, saying in part that “some of the features [of the coronavirus] (potentially) look engineered.”

Politico reports.
“In the aftermath of the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol attack, the GOP’s love for law enforcement — a longtime hallmark of the party — is being called into question as some members on the right continue to whitewash the insurrection and even foist blame on the police officers who protected lawmakers that day.”

Infectious Variant Spreads as Vaccine Effort Slows
June 17, 2021 at 6:44 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 15 Comments
Associated Press: “While two of the states slammed hardest by the disaster, California and New York, celebrated their reopenings this week with fireworks and a multimillion-dollar drawing, hospitalizations in parts of Missouri are surging and cases are rising sharply in Texas, illustrating the challenges the country faces this summer.”

“One major concern is the highly contagious and potentially more severe delta variant of the coronavirus that originated in India. While health officials say the vaccines are effective against it, the fear is that it will lead to outbreaks in states with lower vaccination rates. … At the same time, states are convening focus groups to better understand who is declining to get vaccinated, why, and how to convince them that getting the shot is the right thing to do.”

When our drooling retard of a president displays weakness, we get THIS:

The Russian Navy is edging closer to Hawaii with a big exercise 300 to 500 miles west of the Aloha State — prompting the Air Force to scramble three missile-armed F-22 fighters on Sunday, CBS News reported Tuesday.

Russian officials said it is the largest exercise in the Pacific since the end of the Cold War and involves surface ships, anti-submarine aircraft and long-range bombers, the news outlet said.

Citing U.S. defense officials, CBS said the United States scrambled the F-22s from Hawaii on Sunday in response to Russian bomber flights, but the aircraft did not enter the Air Defense Identification Zone and were not intercepted.

“At the same time, officials said a U.S, carrier strike group headed by the USS (Carl) Vinson is operating about 200 miles east of Hawaii, conducting a strike group certification exercise,” CBS said. “The exercise had been planned but was moved closer to Hawaii in response to the Russian exercise.”

CBS noted the Russian exercise comes ahead of a meeting between President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Democrat from Minnesota asked the Trump-appointed FBI Director: Did the federal government infiltrate any of the so-called “militia” organizations claimed to be responsible for planning and executing the Capitol Siege?

Trump Admits He Didn’t Win Election

Former President Donald Trump appeared to admit in a Fox News interview that he lost the presidential election.

Said Trump:
“We got them by surprise in ‘16, and in ‘20 we did much better than we did in ‘16. Shockingly, we were supposed to win easily at 64 million votes and we got 75 million votes. We didn’t win, but let’s see what happens on that. The whole thing was shocking.”

Trump added that he wants Biden to do well: “I think the election was unbelievably unfair, but I want this guy to go out and do well for our country.”

In an interview on Russian television, President Vladimir Putin disputed the narrative used by some Republicans questioning President Joe Biden’s mental health saying it had “nothing to do with reality.”

Said Putin:
