“No pay for those who abandon their responsibilities,” threatened Texas governor Greg Abbott, after Texas state legislative Democrats walked out of the chamber to deny Texas Republicans the quorum necessary to pass their election-reform measure. Abbott threatened to veto Article 10 of the Texas state budget, which is the portion that funds legislators’ salaries.
That threat may not be quite the metaphorical nuclear strike that it initially seems, as being a Texas state legislator is not a full-time job. The salary is $600 per month, with a per diem of $221 per day for each day of a regular session or special session. With the election-reform bill unpassed in the regular session, Abbott pledged the state legislature would hold a special session to ensure its passage.
So, minority rights for me, but no minority rights for thee. Of course the interesting thing here is that Democrats do not technically own any sort of majority in the Senate. There is quite literally a 50-50 Senate breakdown. The fact that there is a tie-breaking vote from the Vice President does not actually give Democrats a majority of the Senate, it just allows them to pass something with 50 votes.
So it seems odd that at a national level, liberals don't feel that 50 Senators out of 100 should have any say in anything what-so-ever. But Democrats having a mere 13 out of 31 seats in the Senate and 67 out of a 150 in the House should provide them with absolute veto power?
Go figure... hypocrisy IS the bedrock of liberalism...

Sidney Powell Claims Trump 'Can Simply Be Reinstated,' Biden Told to Leave White House
Attorney Sidney Powell, who filed baseless 2020 election challenges on behalf of former President Donald Trump, insisted on Saturday that the Republican politician "can simply be reinstated"—continuing to promote conspiracy theories and misinformation about President Joe Biden's victory.
Powell made the remarks during the "For God & Country Patriot Roundup" conference in Dallas this weekend. Also speaking at the event was retired general Michael Flynn, the former Trump national security who has also repeatedly pushed false claims about the 2020 election.
"He can simply be reinstated," Powell said of Trump during the conference. The crowd cheered loudly in response to her groundless claims.
"And Biden is told to move out of the White House," the lawyer continued with a smirk on her face. "And President Trump should be moved back in. I'm sure there's not going to be credit for time lost, unfortunately. Because the Constitution itself sets the date for inauguration. But he should definitely get the remainder of his term and make the best of it. That's for sure," Powell insisted.
FOR SURE FOR SURE
Powell also suggested that Trump could have fought harder to stay in office. "He had all the tools he needed," she said. "From the day after the election, everyone else around him at the White House was telling him to just pack it up and go home."
In the wake of Trump's election loss in November, the former president initially solicited the legal aid of Powell to formally represent his campaign in court challenges to the results. However, after the attorney was widely mocked for her bizarre and often illogical claims, the then president said publicly that she was not officially part of his legal team. Powell continued to file election challenges independently, including the so-called "Kraken" lawsuits in key battleground states.
Powell's lawsuits, as well as dozens of others filed by Trump and his allies, failed in state and federal courts. Even judges appointed by Trump and other Republicans rejected the allegations. Meanwhile, multiple ballot recounts and audits in key battleground states—including in places where the election was overseen by Republicans who supported Trump—have reaffirmed Biden's election win.
Former Attorney General William Barr, who was widely viewed as one of Trump's most loyal Cabinet members, asserted in December that there was "no evidence" of fraud that would impact the election's outcome. Prior to that, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency at the Department of Homeland Security described the 2020 election as the "most secure in American history." The federal agency, which was led by a Trump appointee at the time, said there was "no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised."
But Trump, Powell, Flynn and other allies of the former president continue to promote baseless claims about the 2020 election. These groundless allegations have added fuel to the bizarre QAnon conspiracy theory. Adherents to QAnon believe that the country is largely run and controlled by a group of Satan-worshipping pedophile Democratic politicians and Hollywood elites. They believe that Trump has somehow been working to challenge and destroy their organization.
A poll released last week by the Public Religion Research Institute found that nearly a quarter (23 percent) of Republicans agreed with the statement, "the government, media, and financial worlds in the U.S. are controlled by a group of Satan-worshipping pedophiles who run a global child sex trafficking operation." Furthermore, 28 percent of Republicans said they believe that "true American patriots" may need to resort to violence to save the U.S. because it has gone so off track.
"Our country needs to turn around," Brenda Bintz, a retired nurse from New Jersey who attended the weekend conference featuring Powell and Flynn, told The Dallas Morning News. "We've turned our back on God."
Powell is facing a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems over her false claims about the company's alleged involvement in a plot to rig the election for Biden. In response to the lawsuit, Powell's attorneys said in a March court filing related to the defamation lawsuit "that reasonable people would not accept" Powell's statements about the 2020 election "as fact."
Newsweek reached out to Powell for further comment.

Good point from your NRO piece:
If people want to cheer for Texas Democratic state legislators leaving the state capitol to prevent a vote on a bill they oppose, fine. But if they choose to do so, then let us do away, once and for all, with this nonsense that the filibuster represents an existential threat to democracy.

IS jacking up the price of Canadian Lumber "doubling the tariff on Canadian lumber from 9% to 18%—a prospect that dismays homebuilders."
Haberman. LOL. If that twat is on a story you can rest assured it's a massive fucking LIE.
In other news, the Newseum - that monument built in honor of the ego's of today's "journalists" is being torn down.
What a perfect metaphor for the state of modern "journalism."
Biden administration could double Canadian lumber tariffs even as wood and construction costs soar
To combat alleged unfair Canadian trade practices, a U.S. Commerce Department report has concluded that the country needs to double the tariff on Canadian lumber from 9% to 18%.
[...]
As Fortune has previously explained, this historic lumber shortage was spurred by a perfect storm of factors set off during the pandemic. When COVID-19 broke out in spring 2020, sawmills cut production and unloaded inventory in fears of a looming housing crash. The crash didn't happen—instead, the opposite occurred. Americans rushed to Home Depot and Lowe’s to buy up materials for do-it-yourself projects, while recession-induced interest rates helped spur a housing boom. That boom, which was exacerbated by a large cohort of millennials starting to hit their peak home-buying years, dried up housing inventory and sent buyers in search of new construction. Home improvements and construction require a lot of lumber, and mills couldn't keep up. Cue record prices.

Big tech are secret Marxists economy
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose on Tuesday as enthusiasm about the economic reopening lifted travel and energy stocks.
The Dow added nearly 100 points, or 0.25%. The S&P 500 traded flat as weakness in technology stocks offset gains made in energy, materials and financials. On Friday, the S&P 500 closed just 0.8% away from an all-time high.
The Nasdaq Composite also traded around the flatline as technology stocks underperformed the broader market.
The gains came as Covid cases continue to decline and vaccinations rise in the U.S. In a major milestone, more than half the U.S. population has received at least one dose of a Covid vaccination, according to data posted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The improving domestic coronavirus situation, coupled with the arrival of summertime weather, sparked another day of strong gains in Wall Street’s reopening trades like travel and hospitality.

Don't you think Trump should call for a lot of his supporters to gather in Washington in early August?
He could then make a speech and send them to the Capitol to reinstate him.
Peacefully, of course. I mean, it mustn't seem like a naked grab for power.
They could wander through the halls of Congress calling out nice, gentle tourist-like things such as,
"Hang Kamala Harris!"

It appears that Anthony Fauci’s 15 months of fame are just about up.
The ubiquitous infectious disease “expert” who became a household name and the most powerful man in the country—or is it the world?—last spring, finally wore out his welcome, even by the friendliest of hosts. For the first time in recent memory, the doctor did not make his morning rounds on the Sunday talk shows. Last week’s weekly press briefing by Joe Biden’s coronavirus task force, featuring Fauci, only earned 19,021 views, a 50 percent drop in viewership since April.
The American public, for the most part, is suffering from Fauci Fatigue; his favorability rating has dropped from 68 percent one year ago to 54 percent now. Forty percent of U.S. voters say they’ve lost confidence in Fauci over the past year. His latest tap dance about the origins of the virus while defending the trustworthiness of Chinese researchers does little to restore confidence in his integrity or self-proclaimed expertise.
House Republicans introduced a symbolic but futile bill to oust Fauci from his role as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Some even imagine Fauci and his fellow COVID-19 propagandists and profiteers will face charges for the incalculable damage they have inflicted on the country under the guise of virus mitigation.
But I have bad news for anyone hoping Fauci will pay a price for his incompetence, misdirection, and in many instances, straight-up malfeasance: he won’t.
If Doctor Fauci says the earth is flat, the liberal media would block Star Trek.

Sleepy Joe Biden was a liberal in disguise.
President Joe Biden will announce plans on Tuesday to narrow the racial wealth gap and invest in Black businesses during his visit to Tulsa commemorating the centennial of its horrific massacre of hundreds of Black residents in its Greenwood district.
Marking 100 years since the Tulsa Race Massacre that left hundreds dead and destroyed businesses in the historic district known as “Black Wall Street,” the Biden administration said it will take steps aimed at reinvesting in communities that it said have left behind by failed policies.
“The destruction wrought on the Greenwood neighborhood and its families was followed by laws and policies that made recovery nearly impossible,” the White House said in a statement announcing the plans early Tuesday.
The White House said it was “chronic disinvestment by the federal government in Black entrepreneurs and small businesses” that had denied Black Wall Street a fair chance at rebuilding.
Installed president Biden jobs program is to provide $7 billion to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.

Vice President of the United States
JAMEL TOPPIN FOR FORBES
The pandemic has prompted a surge in entrepreneurship, voluntary and involuntary. The United States’ first female, Black and Asian-American vice president shares her ideas in an exclusive essay for Forbes on how to leverage this moment to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to pursue the American Dream.
Guest post by Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States
Iwas in Oakland when the Loma Prieta earthquake hit in 1989, and brought a section of the Bay Bridge crashing down. Leaders then had a choice—to restore the bridge to how it was, or to reevaluate and strengthen its support system to withstand future shocks. They chose the latter.
As we emerge from the pandemic, our nation has the same choice to make — for our economy and for our businesses, specifically small businesses and start-ups.
The pandemic has exposed the flaws and the fissures in our economy. One in three small businesses have closed. Nearly two million women have been forced out of the workforce. And millions of families have struggled to buy groceries and cover rent.
In this moment, more than repair, we must reimagine. And after providing $60 billion in relief to small businesses, we must work to broaden access to capital and remove other barriers to success for entrepreneurs across the country.
First, capital. I recently met Lorena Cantarovici, the owner of an artisan empanada business in Colorado. She started her business, as so many do, in her own kitchen. When she sought out a loan to expand, the banks she approached told her she was, in their words, “not bankable.” Through hard work, she proved them wrong. Her business has since expanded to multiple locations, and she has employed many people.
This is a familiar story. Traditional banks and venture capital firms have not always seen the vision of women entrepreneurs and those of color. Community lenders, on the other hand, were founded to see that vision. Community lenders understand the value in providing access to capital in communities of color and low-income communities—and because they do, they add value to those communities and our country.
“For women entrepreneurs—and all entrepreneurs—the pandemic has highlighted the importance of our nation’s care infrastructure.”
Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States
When I was in the United States Senate, I worked to secure an additional $12 billion for community lenders. Now, we are working to build on that investment. Together, we must help every American entrepreneur get the capital they need to realize their vision.
There are other barriers to success. Danielle Romanetti owns a small yarn shop in Virginia. I visited with her and several of her employees a few months ago. They spoke about how hard it was, during the pandemic, for women business owners to go without childcare. Some have had to make deliveries to customers with children in the car. Others have had to bring their children to work.
For women entrepreneurs—and all entrepreneurs—the pandemic has highlighted the importance of our nation’s care infrastructure.
For so many, care is the bridge to building a business. That is why, as we work to improve roads to transport goods, improve transit for consumers, and ensure affordable and accessible high-speed Internet, President Joe Biden and I are also working to ensure affordable and accessible child and family care.
In the face of the unimaginable, America’s entrepreneurs made the choice to reimagine their businesses. Stores — like Danielle’s — have had to quickly pivot online to retain customers, tapping into a demand likely here to stay. Restaurants — like Lorena’s — have had to create outdoor dining to do the same. Meanwhile, innovators of all types have created new products for the moment.
Today, our nation must reimagine our economy, so that every American entrepreneur can launch and grow an enterprise. It is in this reimagining that we will remain competitive—and come out of this pandemic stronger than before.
Kamala Harris
Kamala D. Harris is the Vice President of the United States.
"Things are now so bad in Democrat-run Portland, the far-left Washington Post has been forced to acknowledge not only how bad things are, but that the Defund the Police movement has proven to be a disaster (gee, what a shock), left-wing anarchists are causing havoc (no shit), and black people are bearing a disproportionate brunt of the fallout (which is always the case with Democrats in charge).
“Portland is a White city, overwhelmingly so — African Americans account for just 6 percent of the population,” the Post writes. “But it is Black people … who are dying at near-historic rates.."
"reimagine our economy" deepthroat cocksucker
You are , your Socialism .
Cum-Allah... leading the way on economic development one blow job at a time.
Marking 100 years since the Tulsa Race Massacre that left hundreds dead and destroyed businesses in the historic district known as “Black Wall Street,” the Biden administration said it will take steps aimed at reinvesting in communities that it said have left behind by failed policies.
It's almost as if the courts did not just rule that the Biden Administration could not distribute money to businesses based on race?
And here he goes doubling down by promising to distribute even more money to the disadvantage (aka - minorities).
Either he is an idiot who isn't paying attention or he believes SCOTUS will overrule the 6th Circuit decision (which might still make him an idiot).
A good and decent and compassionate man who is also the devoutest Catholic you'll ever know:
President Joe Biden's proposed federal budget throws open the door for taxpayer-funded abortion by forgoing a longstanding measure he supported as a senator.
The Biden administration's 2022 fiscal budget massively boosts federal spending and lacks any protections from the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer money from funding abortions. The administration issued the budget request to Congress Friday.

Sleepy Joe isn't Jimmy Carter on steroids.
The gas shortages of May 2021 were caused not by cutbacks by foreign nations, but a cyberattack against a domestic pipeline. The crisis appears to be resolving itself now that the system is back online. Panic buying among consumers, which exacerbated the problem, won't go on forever either. Just as toilet paper, paper towels and sanitizer returned to store shelves after the first days of pandemic panic buying, so too will gasoline return to our local stations. Gas prices will likely settle into a price somewhat higher than they were for the past year, but that's an inevitable consequence of businesses, schools and entertainment venues opening up again. Few Americans would likely accept an indefinite extension of the necessary but dispiriting lockdowns that kept gas prices exceptionally low for the past year. Furthermore, Biden's tone during his first few months in office has lacked Carter's pessimism; in fact, Biden has often spoken confidently about the possible American resurgence that could take place as the country claws its way out of the pandemic.
Of course, there is still much uncertainty ahead. Supply chains disrupted for more than a year by the virus will take time to be restored to full operation, and new variants of the virus could continue to pose a threat to public health. But jobs are beginning to return, and the explosive demand for homes means that the construction industry, a major driver of economic vitality, could have an especially bright future. One of Biden's major challenges will be to make sure that future American jobs are good, well-paying, secure ones, and one way to help make this possible would be to raise the federal minimum wage — but since Trump's GOP isn't exactly eager to embrace this, they have little room to complain. Inflation will also be a concern in the near term, but if the Federal Reserve raises interest rates from their current (and unsustainable) near-zero level as the economy recovers, it may not be a major long-term problem.
Especially when he gets the infrastructure passed. Both sides are working more bipartisanly than since the Reagan era.
https://www.salon.com/2021/05/31/sorry-republicans-joe-biden-isnt-jimmy-carter--and-these-arent-the-1970s/
the Biden administration said it will take steps aimed at reinvesting in communities that it said have left behind by failed policies.
When you have nothing better to do than stir the turds of 100-year old racial animus you're telling the world that you're not much of a leader.
And China and Russia look on and think - "Oh good. they've decided to destroy themselves from within. Our job just got a lot easier."
This is pretty simple.
For most of our history, for many reasons people of color faced discrimination, the only remedy is a reverse discrimination...so to speak.
But the Democrats plan is to strengthen the middle class, instead of trickle down economic policies.
The gas shortages of May 2021 were caused not by cutbacks by foreign nations, but a cyberattack against a domestic pipeline.
A LIE of omission. No one disputes the shortages. What people are getting fucked by is rising gas prices LONG BEFORE the cyber-attack on the pipeline.
Slow Joe owns those.
And Salon? A fucking joke since the day it was founded.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Black-led Louisville nonprofit says it has received a six-figure reparations payment from a person who discovered their great-grandfather owned slaves in Kentucky.
Change Today, Change Tomorrow, a nonprofit that launched in 2019 to serve Louisville's marginalized residents, discussed the reparations check in a news conference Monday at Pocket Change, its boutique that represents an initiative to boost support for Black business owners.
"It is a blessing for us but also definitely owed," the nonprofit's founder and executive director, Taylor Ryan, said Monday afternoon.
Nannie Grace Croney, the organization's deputy director, said the group "honestly thought we were being scammed" when they first got an email about the donation.
Then they realized it was actually happening.

"Monday's Remember & Rise event - which was also set to feature John Legend and Stacey Abrams - was called off on Friday after survivors Viola Fletcher, 107, her brother Hughes Van Ellis, 100 and Lessie Benningfield Randle, 106, upped their appearance fee from $100,000 each to $1 million each."
The Daily Mail reports.
State Sen. Kevin Matthews, the chairman of the [1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission], said after meeting with Solomon-Simmons and other representatives of the survivors, the commission agreed to provide $100,000 to each of the three survivors, along with $2 million in seed money for a reparations fund.
'We raised the money and we were excited the survivors were going to accept these gifts,' Matthews said Friday. 'Unfortunately, on Sunday they reached out and increased the amount of the $100,000-per-survivor gifts to $1 million, and instead of $2 million, they asked for $50 million - $50 million - in seed money. We could not respond to those demands. To be clear, I absolutely want the survivors, the descendants and others that were affected to be financially and emotionally supported. However, this is not the way.'
This is a lesson on reparations: It will never be enough. Do the three centenarians look greedy? I will presume they feel principled. I would not criticize them. They were tapped for use in political theater, a fact made obvious by the use of the term "appearance fee." The much larger demand should be read as a desire to speak in terms of reparations, but as reparations, the exorbitant "appearance fee" looks radically undersized. In retrospect, it would seem that the commission should never have spoken in terms of money at all.

In August 26, 2020, Kevin Phomma was arrested in Portland for assaulting several police officers with bear spray during that city’s nonstop siege by Antifa and Black Lives Matters protesters. Phomma and others surrounded the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, blocked traffic, and fought with law enforcement.
In a press release announcing his arrest, the Justice Department said, “Phomma doused several officers with pepper spray while they attempted to arrest him. Once in custody, officers discovered the pepper spray was in fact a powerful bear deterrent pepper spray.”
Phomma, 26, also had a three-inch dagger in a sheath strapped to his left hip. He was charged with a dozen counts ranging from civil disorder—a felony—to unlawful use of mace. He appears to contribute little to society except for his skills as a professional protester.
A few days after his arrest, Phomma was released on bail. His trial is still pending; his lawyers claim the civil disorder charge is “a vestige of opposition to civil rights for Black Americans.” (He does not appear to be black.)
While Phomma roams free, acting as the aggrieved party rather than the aggressor, the two men who allegedly sprayed officer Brian Sicknick with a chemical irritant on January 6 are not so lucky.
George Tanios and Julian Khater were arrested in March and accused of “attacking” Sicknick with a chemical spray; the indictment, not coincidentally, was filed just a few weeks after the initial account of Sicknick’s death—the murder-by-fire-extinguisher story—was exposed as a lie.
Desperate to sustain the lie that a police officer was killed by bloodthirsty Trump cultists on January 6, the media and Democrats quickly pivoted to the idea Sicknick died from an allergic reaction to the bear spray. Tanios and Khater, who traveled together to hear Donald Trump’s speech that day, face four charges of using and carrying the “dangerous and deadly weapon” on January 6.
Unlike Kevin Phomma, one charge filed against Tanios and Khater is “assault on a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.” Unlike Phomma and his accomplices, Tanios and Khater also are charged with conspiracy for allegedly pre-planning the assault on a federal officer

4 More Oath Keepers Indicted In Insurrection Conspiracy

“Another four people associated with the right-wing Oath Keepers paramilitary group have been indicted in the federal conspiracy case surrounding the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol,” USA Today reports.

How can this be? It was just a peaceful, nonviolent, non threatening, gently demonstrative walk-through of the Capitol building, wasn't it?
______
ChUNtruth's version of it, that is.
Thus, the current G.O.P. is seeking not only to absolve Americans of the worst practices of their history but to do so while resurrecting the very practices that the Democrats were cause for racism and and slavery in the first place.

4 more indicted. Over 400 arrested so far. And all without a big political Commission. Hmmm. I guess we don't need one.

I learned in elementary school not to use a word when defining the word.
Henry Rogers (his real name) supposedly has a PhD, yet he comes across as a moron as McWhorter points out.

Lots of people hate Alex Jones. Granted, he loses his mind live on air often (which digital entrepreneurs remix to great effect). His style is abrasive and, at times, psychotic. So what?
He’s also been right about a lot – often decades before other media figures. For it, he has spent his entire career on the fringes of the fringe “far-right” in the political wilderness
Limp, finger-in-the-wind politicians and well-heeled corporate-funded “journalists” could learn something about passion and conviction.
InfoWars, Alex Jones’ media operation, despite its flaws, occupies space in the context of the larger media ecosystem: namely, as a permanent thorn in the side of the ruling class who has been on the frontier of the fight against corporate-state plutocracy for decades.
Ill-tempered gadfly; decorum-free monkey wrench; digital pirate ship; choose your metaphor.
The very continued existence of InfoWars in the dark corners of the web – a fact which the social engineers desperately and forever lament – is itself a repudiation of their social control.
McConnell Defends Blocking Jan. 6 Commission
June 1, 2021 at 1:02 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 67 Comments
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) defended his decision to block the bill to create a bipartisan commission to study the January 6 insurrection.
Said McConnell:
“I don’t think anybody’s going to get away with anything. I think we’ll know everything we need to know. We were all witnesses, we were right there when it happened. And I simply think the commission is not necessary.”

Maybe you can persuade the FBI to call off their investigation for the same reason.
But do not worry, the Democrats will conduct an interesting and very informative investigation of their own.
This is going to hurt Bidenomics as they put 200,000 black only farmers on 32,000,000 acres.

"U.S. farmland values are rising as buyers outnumber sellers.
On Tuesday, the Farmers National Company released details of its June Land Values Report.
Interest in purchasing agricultural land has grown since a coronavirus pandemic-induced slowdown blanketed the land market last spring, according to the Nebraska-based real estate company.
“Farmers are feeling more financially secure as very strong commodity prices arrived on top of large government payments in 2020. This is propelling farmers to bid more aggressively for additional land than has been the case during the past six years,” FNC office"
The price of fertilizer , seed , equipment and fuels will hinder these newly minted Biden Farmers.
Also, farm animals prices are rising.

"But of course that cannot be. Putin assured Trump that the Russkies don't do that sort of thing, and Trump told us he believed him."
eef price up .
"meat is seeing an especially sharp rise. According to the USDA, beef prices are up almost 10 percent over the last year and it’s already being seen on the shelves."
Before this attack on Biden's Watch.
The Attack is global.
"JBS’s five biggest beef plants in the U.S. -- which altogether handle 22,500 cattle a day -- have halted processing following a weekend attack on the company’s computer networks, according to JBS posts on Facebook, labor unions and employees. Those outages alone have wiped out nearly a fifth of America’s production. Slaughter operations across Australia were also down, according to a trade group. One of Canada’s largest beef plants was idled for a second day."
