Republican senators who are negotiating within a bipartisan group of 10 senators say they have reached a tentative deal on the size of an infrastructure package and how to pay for it. The emerging deal would spend only a fraction of the $4.1 trillion investment President Biden has called for and would not raise taxes, which could make it a tough sell within the broader Senate Democratic caucus.
Cassidy said the Senate group’s top-line spending number is similar to the $1.25 trillion infrastructure spending framework the bipartisan House Problem Solvers Caucus unveiled earlier in the week. That group’s plan would provide $762 billion in new spending over eight years.
I don't know folks. Sounds like something that will rejected by both Biden and the House. Plus anything put together by Romney, Collins, and Kennedy is likely not going to attract a ton of support from Republicans either. So this might be one of those bills that pretty much does a good job of offending everyone.

I remain a little optimistic because of Biden's experience in negotiating. He's not afraid of the left side.
If they use money from the covid-19 recovery bill they might not need to raise taxes

This doesn't scare moderate Republican lawmakers because if the economy gets better they can say that they helped them out.

More great news from a Republican
Scott Walker, the former Wisconsin governor, presidential candidate and longtime Republican darling, has joined up with another former Wisconsin governor who’s on the opposite side of the political spectrum — Jim Doyle, a Democrat — to urge people to get vaccinated.
In a new public service announcement to air across Wisconsin television beginning this week and shared with POLITICO, Walker and Doyle banter back and forth.
"Let’s do a commercial together, reminding people in Wisconsin how important it is to be vaccinated,” Walker says in the ad.
"That may be the best idea you’ve ever had,” Doyle responds.
The two joined up as officials in Wisconsin — like many battleground states that are ideologically divided — are attempting to reach out to pockets of the population that have resisted getting vaccinated.
“This isn't a political issue. This doesn’t invoke Trump or Biden or Fauci or anybody else,” Walker said in an interview. “This is just the two of us saying ‘Hey we agree. We think it's a good idea to get vaccinated.’”
Kputz won't get vaccinated because he's stupid

Northrop Grumman is constructing the first two B-21 Raider bombers.
While these particular B-21s are test units, the Air Force plans to eventually use the planes as replacements for the Air Force's B-1 and B-2 bombers.
The service is pushing for nearly 50 percent more bombers than originally planned.
The first two B-21 Raider bombers—which will eventually be able to carry both nuclear and conventional weapons—are nearly mechanically complete, but still won't fly until 2022.

The U.S. Air Force's (USAF) bomber program, designed to field a replacement for the B-1 Lancer and B-2 Spirit by the late 2020s, is on track. That's a rarity in the world of military hardware procurement. Still, Congress is calling on the service to accelerate the program; USAF isn't budging.
Just a simple question for the slurping trumpists like Lil Schitty!!!!! How many Az ballots have been contaminated by bamboo from asia to date????? Please slurpers they have been auditing for weeks now and have broken the chain of custody of the ballots.....how will the results be trusted?????????
Just heard an interesting tidbit about Az ballots in that around 50k R ballots who voted pure R candidates did not check the box for trump......I sure hope that trend continues not only there but country wide as R voters come out of their trump induced coma!!!!!!! Source an Az Republic reporter

It is now unanimous, and I have been proven right (once again) that the initial World Health Organization Report on the Wuhan Lab was flawed and must be redone, this time by a truly transparent investigation. We were right about the China Virus from the beginning, and now the entire world sees it. This is why the Chinese Communist Party should pay $10 Trillion in global reparations for what they allowed to happen, the worst event in world history. Even here in the United States, the so-called experts like Dr. Fauci were wrong about the Wuhan Lab and China’s role the entire time. Just think how bad things would have gotten if I followed Dr. Fauci’s advice and never closed down travel from China (and other things)? Dr. Fauci likes to say that he is “science,” when in fact he is merely science fiction!

There is absolutely no way a fetus can survive outside the womb at 15 weeks' gestation. There is no medical apparatus that can keep it alive, because the lungs of a 4-inch fetus at 15 gestational weeks are not developed enough to inflate, even if it were to be put on a respirator. Yet at least four members of the Supreme Court believe this case deserves to be heard; it will take just five justices to make a decision that could end the right to an abortion in as many as half of the states.

Bipartisan group of senators crafts $1 trillion infrastructure plan
Such a package would be more than the previous Republican-only effort, but still short of the $1.7 trillion over 8 years President Biden is seeking.

WASHINGTON — A bipartisan group of senators is eyeing an infrastructure deal with $579 billion in new spending as part of a $1 trillion package. It could be rolled out as soon as Thursday as negotiators try to strike a deal on President Biden’s top priority, according to those briefed on the plan.
The 10 senators, including Republican Susan Collins of Maine, have been huddling behind closed doors, encouraged by Biden to keep working on the effort after he walked away from a Republican-only proposal this week unable to resolve differences. The senators are briefing their colleagues privately and cautioned changes could still be made.
“We got a piece of paper with every line and a total,” Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, told reporters at the Capitol. He declined to provide further details. “Can be adjusted and changed? Sure.”
The president and Congress have been straining to reach an agreement on his ideas for an infrastructure investment, stuck over the scope of the package of road, highway and other projects and how to pay for it.
At that size, the new package spread over five years would be more than the previous Republican-only effort of $330 billion in new spending in a $928 billion package, but still short of the $1.7 trillion over eight years Biden is seeking. It appears the group is running into the same problems that Biden and lead Republican negotiator Sen. Shelley Moore Capito confronted in agreeing on how to pay for it.
Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., a lead negotiator, would not disclose the final tab. Asked if the new spending was at $600 billion, he said “the president said that was his goal. So I don’t think anybody felt like they had to exceed his
Another member of the group, Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., said they are “fairly close” on a topline amount, but are still debating how to pay for it. One option is to include potential revenue from uncollected income taxes, he said.
“We still have to talk,” Tester said.
One Republican not in the group, Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana, said he was told the package would provide nearly $1 trillion – including $579 billion in new spending over the baseline for transportation projects.
Braun also said parts of it would be paid for with untapped COVID-19 relief funds, which has been a nonstarter for the White House. " I still think they might change their minds "
“They have come up with similar to what I
Biden tasked the senators to keep working as he set out for his first overseas trip after talks collapsed this week with Capito and the GOP senators.
The president is seeking a sweeping investment in not just roads, highways and bridges but also broadband, electric vehicle charging stations and other aspects of what he views as the new economy, all paid for with a hike in the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%.
Republicans prefer a more narrow focus on fixing existing transportation systems, with more modest investments elsewhere. They oppose any tax hikes to pay for the new spending.
With the Senate narrowly split, 50-50, and most legislation requiring 60 votes to advance past a filibuster, Biden is seeking a bipartisan agreement to ensure passage. At the same time, he is also instructing Democrats who control the House and Senate to prepare to pass portions of the package on their own, under special budget rules that enable approval with 51 votes in the Senate.
In the evenly-divided Senate, Vice President Kamala Harris serves as a tie-breaking vote.
I'm not going to say yes or no again.

The New Atlantic Charter
JUNE 10, 2021STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
Today, the President of the United States and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom reaffirm their commitment to work together to realise our vision for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
Our revitalised Atlantic Charter, building on the commitments and aspirations set out eighty years ago, affirms our ongoing commitment to sustaining our enduring values and defending them against new and old challenges. We commit to working closely with all partners who share our democratic values and to countering the efforts of those who seek to undermine our alliances and institutions.
First, we resolve to defend the principles, values, and institutions of democracy and open societies, which drive our own national strength and our alliances. We must ensure that democracies – starting with our own – can deliver on solving the critical challenges of our time. We will champion transparency, uphold the rule of law, and support civil society and independent media. We will also confront injustice and inequality and defend the inherent dignity and human rights of all individuals.
Second, we intend to strengthen the institutions, laws, and norms that sustain international co-operation to adapt them to meet the new challenges of the 21st century, and guard against those that would undermine them. We will work through the rules-based international order to tackle global challenges together; embrace the promise and manage the peril of emerging technologies; promote economic advancement and the dignity of work; and enable open and fair trade between nations.
Third, we remain united behind the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the peaceful resolution of disputes. We oppose interference through disinformation or other malign influences, including in elections, and reaffirm our commitment to debt transparency, sustainability and sound governance of debt relief. So too will we defend key principles such as freedom of navigation and overflight and other internationally lawful uses of the seas.
Fourth, we resolve to harness and protect our innovative edge in science and technology to support our shared security and deliver jobs at home; to open new markets; to promote the development and deployment of new standards and technologies to support democratic values; to continue to invest in research into the biggest challenges facing the world; and to foster sustainable global development.
Fifth, we affirm our shared responsibility for maintaining our collective security and international stability and resilience against the full spectrum of modern threats, including cyber threats. We have declared our nuclear deterrents to the defence of NATO and as long as there are nuclear weapons, NATO will remain a nuclear alliance. Our NATO Allies and partners will always be able to count on us, even as they continue to strengthen their own national forces. We pledge to promote the framework of responsible State behaviour in cyberspace, arms control, disarmament, and proliferation prevention measures to reduce the risks of international conflict. We remain committed to countering terrorists who threaten our citizens and interests.
Sixth, we commit to continue building an inclusive, fair, climate-friendly, sustainable, rules-based global economy for the 21st century. We will strengthen financial stability and transparency, fight corruption and illicit finance, and innovate and compete through high labour and environmental standards.
Seventh, the world has reached a critical point where it must act urgently and ambitiously to tackle the climate crisis, protect biodiversity, and sustain nature. Our countries will prioritise these issues in all our international action.
Eighth, we recognise the catastrophic impact of health crises, and the global good in strengthening our collective defences against health threats. We commit to continuing to collaborate to strengthen health systems and advance our health protections, and to assist others to do the same.

WASHINGTON — The plane set to carry dozens of journalists to Europe to cover President Biden’s first trip abroad was on the runway, ready to take off.
The cicadas had other ideas.
Somehow, the flying insects had filled the plane’s engines, grounding it and forcing Mr. Biden’s aides to scramble for another way to ferry the reporters overseas. What was supposed to be a 9 p.m. departure was delayed until 11. And then until 2:15 a.m.
Perhaps it was inevitable, with billions of cicadas flying around much of the eastern United States in recent weeks. In the nation’s capital, where a brood that emerges every 17 years is near its beastly peak, they have crawled up the necks of TV journalists, splattered across car windshields and gotten tangled in the hair of anyone braving the swampy, 90-degree heat.
White House travel officials delivered news of the insect malfunction to reporters gathered at the airport hotel, along with assurances that a new plane was headed to Washington from New York. A new pilot in Cleveland was soon to be en route — and both, officials hoped, would make it safely through the cicada cloud, which has been dense enough around Washington to be picked up on weather radar.
Pizza was delivered, along with the option to grab a few winks in a room at the hotel. The bar extended its hours for those who decided to stay awake instead.
On Twitter, word of the delay — tweeted by the roomful of journalists — quickly elicited sympathy, scorn and the usual snarky commentary that can be generated only by a story about Washington politics.
“Are the cicadas considered to be hijackers and is the FBI negotiating for the release of the plane?” one person tweeted. “What are the demands of the cicadas?”
Another wrote: “Check for #maga shells,” clearly a reference to the fact that this was the Biden press corps.
When one person wrote: “Those cicadas are the enemy of the press,” another responded: “Has the GOP indoctrinated and recruited the cicadas?”
And more than one person made clear that they were not particularly upset by the White House press corps being inconvenienced.
“The press charter was delayed?” one wrote after hearing about the episode. “I commend those patriotic cicadas for their fine work!”

Waking up from wokeness
On America’s “First Great Awokening.”
We cannot identify who exactly popularized the term “woke.” But we’ve had cause to wheel it out in this space on and off for the last few years, generally when describing some absurd piece of academic or corporate or government obeisance to political correctness. In March of 2019, we devoted much of these “Notes” to the great English satirist Andrew Doyle, the creator of the character Titania McGrath, the “radical intersectionalist poet” who is full of woke showstoppers. Item: “If you don’t think exactly the same way as me, then you’ve clearly got a lot to learn about diversity.” Could Ibram X. Kendi, the author of the bestselling anti-white diatribe How to Be an Antiracist, put the gospel of wokeness any better?
Well, maybe so. McGrath/Doyle can weigh in deliciously on Jussie Smollett, the actor who staged a racist attack on himself in order to elicit sympathy and boost his sagging career. “It is absolutely essential,” she/he wrote, “that we believe Jussie Smollett. If we don’t, other people who haven’t been attacked might not have the courage to come forward.” Ha, ha, ha. But Kendi puts the claws in the paw with observations such as this: “The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.” Race-based discrimination now, race-based discrimination tomorrow, race-based discrimination forever. Kendi says the quiet part out loud.
Two years ago, we said that a quick look around the cultural landscape indicated that we were “in the midst of a sort of negative religious revival.” At the time, we called it “America’s First Great Awokening” and described the phenomenon as “a false awakening sparked by political grievance.”
Terms like “America’s First Great Awokening” are somewhat jocular, of course, tongue-half-in-cheek plays upon real historical developments. But the reality, though absurd, is anything but comic. We offered a brief and incomplete inventory of the absurdities last month in the context of providing an epitaph for the practice of satire. The more “woke” a culture, the less able it is to practice or appreciate satire.
“So what?” you might be thinking. “So satire is going through a rough patch at the moment. Is that such a big deal?” To appreciate why it is a big deal, it is important to bear two things in mind. The first is that barbaric viciousness often cohabits seamlessly with an absurdity that, seen from a distance, can seem too preposterous to take seriously. In the 1930s, we imagine, it could have been difficult to take the new leaders of Italy or Germany entirely seriously. They were just too over-the-top. Serious men who understood the intricacies of world affairs would soon put the children in their place.
We know how that worked out. The second thing to bear in mind has to do with reality, with the truth about the way things are. The headlines these days are full of warnings about “systemic racism” and government-sponsored “critical race theory” in schools. A few months ago, the President of the United States issued an executive order on “Advancing Racial Equity.” It called for an “ambitious whole-of-government equity agenda” catering to “historically underserved” groups.
Note the term “equity.” According to the dictionary, the relevant definition of “equity” is “the quality of being impartial.” But even a cursory glance at what the administration has in mind shows that the pursuit of “equity” entails the imposition of inequitable treatment. Ibram X. Kendi would approve.
Readers should not be surprised by this semantic sleight of hand. It is a staple in the armory of totalitarian enterprise, a sort of political “gain-of-function” intervention applied to the virus of political correctness. George Orwell gave classic expression to the gambit in Animal Farm. The comrades were used to seeing the slogan “All animals are equal” emblazoned in large white letters on the side of the barn. But then one day they noticed the addition of a codicil: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
If you object “But that’s not what ‘equal’ means!” then you have a lot to learn about the logic of leftist redress. An element of reversal, of things turning into their opposites, is always at the heart of the program.
An element of reversal, of things turning into their opposites, is always at the heart of the program.
So it is with affirmative action, the obvious precursor to the administration’s “equity” wheeze. “Affirmative action” was first announced as an initiative to promote equality, but it wound up enforcing discrimination precisely on the grounds that it was meant to overcome. The whole history of affirmative action is instinct with that irony. The original effort to rectify legitimate grievances—grievances embodied, for instance, in the discriminatory practices of Jim Crow—soon mutated into new forms of discrimination. In 1941, Franklin Delano Roosevelt established the Fair Employment Practices Committee because blacks were openly barred from war factory jobs. But what began as a presidential Executive Order in 1961 directing government contractors to take “affirmative action” to ensure that people be hired “without regard” for race, creed, color, etc. soon resulted in the creation of vast bureaucracies dedicated to discovering, hiring, and advancing people chiefly on the basis of those very qualities. War is peace, freedom is slavery, “without regard” comes to mean “with regard for nothing else.”
We think that the best way to understand the diktat about advancing “equity” is to see it as an extension of Barack Obama’s expectation, announced on the eve of the 2008 election, that he was “five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” In his 2004 book Who Are We?, Samuel Huntington enumerated the core principles of the American Creed: liberty, equality, individualism, representative government, and private property. The drive for “equity,” understood now as “being partial to this week’s designated victim groups,” is profoundly at odds with that traditional ideal.
Some well-meaning folks have hailed our new political dispensation as the return of “normality” in American politics. We think it is another step on the road to the destruction (or “fundamental transformation”) of America. It would be pleasant to think that, having left history’s bloodiest century behind, we also left behind the passions that sparked its unprecedented carnage. But time and again history has taught us that the hunger to impose equality from on high is among mankind’s most brutal passions.
As we write, an open letter signed by more than one hundred twenty retired American admirals and generals has just been published. It calls upon citizens to reject racist so-called “antiracism” initiatives like “Critical Race Theory.” “Our nation is in deep peril,” the letter warns. “We are in a fight for our survival as a Constitutional Republic like no other time since our founding in 1776. The conflict is between supporters of Socialism and Marxism vs. supporters of Constitutional freedom and liberty.”
We think this is true. It may seem quite distant from the harlequinade of “wokeness.” In fact, it is all of a piece. Wokeness, like the Marxism it draws sustenance from, is an exclusionary cult. A sliver of humanity is its object of worship. And like Marxism itself, as Leszek Kolakowski noted at the end of his magisterial Main Currents of Marxism (1976), it “has revealed itself as the farcical aspect of human bondage.”
Telling Thecoldheartedtruth will lead us to Marxism.

Funny ... since Hunter was caught redheaded dropping the n-word ...Joe Biden, Democrats, and their propaganda media have magically stopped talking about white supremacy and have suddenly shifted to climate change.
Trump better pack up and move to Moscow.
FBI Director Chris Wray on Thursday suggested "serious charges" are still coming in the criminal investigation of the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump.
"This is a very ongoing investigation and there's a lot more to come," Wray said during an oversight hearing held by the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee. "I would expect to see more charges — some of them maybe more serious charges."
Wray testified that the FBI considered the attack an act of "domestic terrorism." He said he understands why Democratic lawmakers have called the attack an "insurrection," but said it would not be appropriate for him to use that word because of the effect it could have on pending criminal cases.
"In my role as FBI director, because that's a term that has legal meaning, I really have to be careful about using words like that," Wray said.
Democratic lawmakers repeatedly grilled Wray, appointed by Trump in 2017, over what they said were intelligence failures that left law enforcement ill-prepared for the deadly attack.
"The FBI's inaction in the weeks leading up to Jan. 6 is simply baffling," Nadler said. "It is hard to tell whether FBI headquarters merely missed the evidence — which had been flagged by your field offices and was available online for all the world to see — or whether the Bureau saw the intelligence, underestimated the threat, and simply failed to act."
FBI Director Christopher Wray listens to a question as he testifies before the House Judiciary Committee at a hearing on "Oversight of the Federal Bureau of Investigation" on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S., June 10, 2021. REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein
Wray responded that on Jan. 5 an FBI field office in Virginia issued an explicit warning, sent to U.S. Capitol Police, that extremists were preparing to travel to Washington to commit violence.
Wray added that "almost none" of the 500 people charged so far with participating in the attack had been under FBI investigation previously, suggesting it would have been difficult for the FBI to have monitored them in advance.
"You can be darn sure that we are going to be looking hard at how we can do better, how we can do more, how we can do things differently in terms of collecting and disseminating" intelligence, Wray said.
Asked whether the FBI was investigating Trump or his associate Roger Stone, Wray said he could neither confirm nor deny any FBI investigation.
"I'm talking about Mr. Big, Number One," said Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen, referring to Trump. "Have you gone after the people who incited the riot?"

Bipartisan Deal Reached on Infrastructure Proposal
June 10, 2021 at 6:19 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 301 Comments
“Members of a bipartisan group of senators said they had reached an agreement on an infrastructure proposal that would be fully paid for without tax increases, pitching the plan to other lawmakers and the White House as they try to craft compromise legislation on the issue,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“While the group of 10 senators didn’t reveal details of the plan in its statement, people familiar with the plan said it called for $579 billion above expected future federal spending on infrastructure. The overall plan would spend $974 billion over five years and $1.2 trillion if it continued over eight years.
“To move forward in Congress, the plan would need the buy-in from a broader group of Republicans and Democrats, as well as the White House.
"In recent days, some Democrats have indicated they are skeptical that the bipartisan talks will result in a large enough package.”

"Even if we go via reconciliation, I think it's going to be wildly popular with Republican governors, wildly popular with Republican mayors," he said. "Hope we'll get some Republican votes."

Republicans are trying to weigh the politics of the talks and whether they might be seen as resisting too much or not enough.
"I remain open-minded. It's the best bet we have right now for something that's not just jamming something down our throats," said Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D.
But Cramer also voiced skepticism, saying the Capito effort was "the best chance" to get broad Republican agreement on an infrastructure package.
Democrats are not on the same page about what should happen next, with some insisting they won't support a deal that excludes priorities like clean energy investments to combat climate change.
"There’s no guarantee that there's 50 Democratic votes for whatever this group works out," said Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn.
"From my perspective: No climate. No bill. No deal," said Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass.
Some Democrats are trying to pressure their leadership to abandon bipartisan talks and instead push through a partisan bill, but there's no guarantee there are 50 Democratic votes for that tactic either.
In a statement on Thursday, deputy White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said White House staff was briefed earlier in the day by Democratic senators working on infrastructure.
"The President appreciates the Senators’ work to advance critical investments we need to create good jobs, prepare for our clean energy future, and compete in the global economy," he said. "Questions need to be addressed, particularly around the details of both policy and pay fors, among other matters."
Bates said senior White House staff and other aides will work with the Senate group in the days ahead "to get answers to those questions."
As he was leaving the Capitol on Thursday, Manchin declined to say how he would vote if Democrats began to move a package without Republicans.
"Haven't even thought about it," Manchin told NBC.

When you look at some of the laws that are being passed at the state legislative level, where legislators are basically saying, we’re going to take away the certification of election processes from civil servants, you know, secretaries of state, people who are just counting ballots, and we’re going to put it in the hands of partisan legislatures, who may or may not decide that a state’s electoral votes should go to one person or another, and when that’s all done against the backdrop of large numbers of Republicans having been convinced, wrongly, that there was something fishy about the last election, we’ve got a problem,
move forward in Congress, the plan would need the buy-in from a broader group of Republicans and Democrats, as well as the White House. In recent days, some Democrats have indicated they are skeptical that the bipartisan talks will result in a large enough package.
“We are discussing our approach with our respective colleagues, and the White House, and remain optimistic that this can lay the groundwork to garner broad support from both parties and meet America’s infrastructure needs,” said the group, which includes Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (D., Ariz.), Rob Portman (R., Ohio) and Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.).
A White House spokesman said Mr. Biden appreciated the group’s plan.
The Republicans are the most corrupt party in America
Days before the first Republican candidate jumped into next year's Arizona Senate race, he poured millions into an ostensibly nonpartisan voter registration operation affiliated with prominent election fraud conspiracy theorists.
Why it matters: GOP candidate Jim Lamon embraces many of these theories, and a drive to register voters with the same inclination has the potential to benefit his candidacy. Lamon also stands to get a substantial tax break from his $2 million effort to turn out conservative voters.
What's happening: In late April, Lamon, a renewable energy executive, announced his donation to the nonprofit Look Ahead America, designed to help register "tens of thousands of new conservative voters."
A week later, Lamon officially entered the race to challenge Sen. Mark Kelly, a Democrat.Records indicate Lamon had been laying the groundwork for his run by the time he donated to LAA: his campaign website's domain was registered in March, and its social media pages were created in April.LAA is officially a nonpartisan charity and can legally engage in voter registration activities as long as they're not geared toward benefitting a specific candidate or party. The group said it planned to use Lamon's $2 million to register and turn out "America First patriots."
The big picture: LAA was formed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2017 but had its tax-exempt status revoked last year for a persistent failure to file annual reports with the IRS.
LAA executive director Matthew Braynard told Axios the group is in the process of reapplying for tax exemption. If it's granted, Lamon's donation to the group will be retroactively tax-deductible."We take our nonpartisan obligation extremely seriously," Braynard said in an email. "We do not have any direct contact with Mr. Lamon or anyone working with him regarding our activities in AZ other than sending the reminders for payment to his accountant (it’s a monthly commitment)."
Between the lines: Efforts by Braynard's group to root out supposed voter fraud last year were cited in multiple failed lawsuits seeking to overturn election results in states carried by Joe Biden in his matchup with President Trump.
The group has turned its attention this year to lobbying state and local governments to abandon contracts with voting machine companies at the center of Trump-backed conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.Lamon has pushed many of the same conspiracy theories. He joined Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward late last year in unsuccessfully suing to block Biden's victory in the state.Lamon's company donated $300,000 to the Arizona GOP in March, as the state party used a Republican-led "audit" of the state's 2020 election results to boost its fundraising substantially.

WASHINGTON — As the Justice Department investigated who was behind leaks of classified information early in the Trump administration, it took a highly unusual step: Prosecutors subpoenaed Apple for data from the accounts of at least two Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, aides and family members. One was a minor.
All told, the records of at least a dozen people tied to the committee were seized in 2017 and early 2018, including those of Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, then the panel’s top Democrat and now its chairman, according to committee officials and two other people briefed on the inquiry. Representative Eric Swalwell of California said in an interview Thursday night that he had also been notified that his data had subpoenaed.
Prosecutors, under the beleaguered attorney general, Jeff Sessions, were hunting for the sources behind news media reports about contacts between Trump associates and Russia. Ultimately, the data and other evidence did not tie the committee to the leaks, and investigators debated whether they had hit a dead end and some even discussed closing the inquiry.
But William P. Barr revived languishing leak investigations after he became attorney general a year later. He moved a trusted prosecutor from New Jersey with little relevant experience to the main Justice Department to work on the Schiff-related case and about a half-dozen others, according to three people with knowledge of his work who did not want to be identified discussing federal investigations.
The zeal in the Trump administration’s efforts to hunt leakers led to the extraordinary step of subpoenaing communications metadata from members of Congress — a nearly unheard-of move outside of corruption investigations. While Justice Department leak investigations are routine, current and former congressional officials familiar with the inquiry said they could not recall an instance in which the records of lawmakers had been seized as part of one.
Moreover, just as it did in investigating news organizations, the Justice Department secured a gag order on Apple that expired this year, according to a person familiar with the inquiry, so lawmakers did not know they were being investigated until Apple informed them last month.
Prosecutors also eventually secured subpoenas for reporters’ records to try to identify their confidential sources, a move that department policy allows only after all other avenues of inquiry are exhausted.
The subpoenas remained secret until the Justice Department disclosed them in recent weeks to the news organizations — The Washington Post, The New York Times and CNN — revelations that set off criticism that the government was intruding on press freedoms.
------
If the Biden administration had used The Department of Justice to spy on Fox News, the Republicans would be calling for DOJ the KJB.
And honestly I would be shouting the same thing.

I take the Genesis story literally, but do not believe it literally. It is a wonderful ancient story based on the primitive Mesopotamian "science" of its day.
I also take literally those Scriptures that make it clear that John the Baptist and Jesus along with Paul and all the other authors of the New Testament were expecting the world to end and the Kingdom of God to come to all the earth in their generation.
I understand that literally, but there is no way I can literally believe it happened, because it did not.
To put it simply enough for kputz.
During the shutdown, thousands of supplies were not being manufactured or in the case of lumber, nobody was harvesting lumber, the increased demand as the worst economic crisis in history increased astronomicaly, the prices skyrocketed.
But as the economy continues to grow the supply sector will have more than enough goods to meet demand and the prices will stabilize and again inflation will drop to near 1.5% or so.
Our solar system is about four and a half billion years old, and the universe is nearly fourteen billion years old.

“Why the blank face on Kamala cookies? One of Kamala’s first jobs was as an assistant District Attorney in Oakland. And of course Gertrude Stein wrote of Oakland, “There is no there, there”.
And a blank face on a Kamala cooky reflects the Stein observation on Oakland—which is appropriate where Ms. Harris is concerned. There simply is no there there. Faced with a challenging question or issue Kamala simply retreats to a giggle. She is truly an empty suit. The Democrat primary voters recognized that. Slow Joe didn’t.”

ears old, stands to be destroyed by warmly cooling in only a dozen years because of a century of industrialization on a portion of it's land mass.
Very sad and completely true....Unfortunately your mind is not big enough to comprehend that!!!!! BTW.... it is not a dozen years!!!
It’s faint praise at best to describe someone as not smart or dumb. In fact, I don’t know that Kamala Harris is dumb. She may have brains, but she doesn’t much show them. She comes across as a woman who’s well over her head, and that should disturb anyone who cares about the welfare and safety of the nation. After all, this Californian who spent a chunk of her formative years in Montreal is, as the cliché goes, “a heartbeat away from the presidency.”
Harris mouths talking points and reads from scripts like a robot. She often displays an inappropriate, grating cackle-of-a-laugh, which suggests nervousness and lack of confidence. Her recent interview with Lester Holt was sophomoric. Does anyone not think that profilers in China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea aren’t taking copious notes? Wonder if tyrants Xi Jinping and Vlad Putin wake up in cold sweats at night dreading Harris’ ascendency to the presidency? Key question is, does the long corrupted and daft Joe Biden have enough gas in his tank to stay president for the full ride?
Word is that Biden fancies himself an uber “progressive” who aims to surpass Wilson, FDR, and the corrupted and vain LBJ. Biden wants to leave his lefty forerunners in the dust, hypercentralizing government and whacking away at our God-given constitutional rights on an eyepopping scale, thereby catapulting him into the pantheon of great white lib presidents. Not that we’ll hold Biden’s whiteness against him. And not that Joe expects a statue erected anywhere in his honor. The living memorial to Joe is his vaunted son, Hunter. Okay, so, we won’t go there.
We’re not quite sure if Biden’s illusion of grandeur is a product of his deteriorating mind or predates it. From the time Joe was a young whippersnapper in the U.S. Senate, he was a man stuffed with conceits. In his salad days, he was vindictive, snarky, and bullying (traits he shares with Harris). Remember the “high-tech lynching” of Clarence Thomas? You’d think that antiracist Biden would have shown tons of respect and deference for a soul brother. Otherwise, at very best, Joe served as a mediocre for years in a body that views mediocrity as a resumé enhancement.

Supply and demand escapes kputz's minuscule mind
Alky, you're no match for anyone on this blog on the topic of economics.
Your sole contribution on the topic is to plagiarize Robert Reich.
For instance this little gem, based on absolutely NO evidence -
But as the economy continues to grow the supply sector will have more than enough goods to meet demand and the prices will stabilize and again inflation will drop to near 1.5% or so.
It's not just about raw materials and goods, dumbass. You completely ignore a critical factor -
Labor.
The are 9.3 MILLION available jobs out there RIGHT NOW, and no one to fill them because paying people to sit home and jerk off is a better deal. To lure those folks off of the couch subjects the labor market to wage inflation.
From only 3 days ago -
Chipotle hikes prices to cover the cost of raising wages
Chipotle Mexican Grill has hiked menu prices by roughly 4% to cover the cost of raising its workers’ wages.
In May, Chipotle said that it would raise hourly wages for its restaurant workers to reach an average of $15 an hour by the end of June.
The restaurant industry has been boosting wages to attract workers as it faces a labor crunch.
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/08/chipotle-hikes-prices-to-cover-the-cost-of-raising-wages.html
And here's the best part - those wages have now risen permanently. As in good fucking luck getting these folks to take a pay CUT after you had to offer them more to get them to take the job in the first place.
By pile driving our economy into the fucking ground in order to destroy bad orange man, you dumb fucks have wreaked a havoc on so many segments of our society - economic, educational, societal, etc., it will take decades to compile the true cost of the damage.
Everything liberalism touches dies.
Inflation is caused by too much money chasing too few goods. The out of control spending coming from the federal government cannot be ignored.
But every time Republicans try to reign in spending, we get tv commercials of the gop pushing grandma over a cliff in a wheelchair.
More liberal policy 'brilliance' on display -
Criminals may have stolen as much as half of the unemployment benefits the U.S. has been pumping out over the past year, some experts say.
Why it matters: Unemployment fraud during the pandemic could easily reach $400 billion, according to some estimates, and the bulk of the money likely ended in the hands of foreign crime syndicates — making this not just theft, but a matter of national security.
Catch up quick: When the pandemic hit, states weren't prepared for the unprecedented wave of unemployment claims they were about to face.
They all knew fraud was inevitable, but decided getting the money out to people who desperately needed it was more important than laboriously making sure all of them were genuine.
By the numbers: Blake Hall, CEO of ID.me, a service that tries to prevent this kind of fraud, tells Axios that America has lost more than $400 billion to fraudulent claims. As much as 50% of all unemployment monies might have been stolen, he says.
Haywood Talcove, the CEO of LexisNexis Risk Solutions, estimates that at least 70% of the money stolen by impostors ultimately left the country, much of it ending up in the hands of criminal syndicates in China, Nigeria, Russia and elsewhere.
"These groups are definitely backed by the state," Talcove tells Axios.
Much of the rest of the money was stolen by street gangs domestically, who have made up a greater share of the fraudsters in recent months.

Hey alky, tell us again about how all that $$$$$$$ worked to stimulate our economy.
Inflation is caused by too much money chasing too few goods. The out of control spending coming from the federal government cannot be ignored.
Yep.
Keynesianism, like socialism, fails every time it's tried. But just one more try, with just a couple of subtle tweaks, and they'll get it right this time.
Promise.
Inflation is caused by too much money chasing too few goods. The out of control spending coming from the federal government cannot be ignored.
And what can be ignored is your naive analysis of what is going on.....!!!!!! How would I guess that VERY lo iq Denny relies on the Washington Post for even opinion ?
The nail in the coffin for long term inflation is the cost of housing.
A firm who Biden has filled his staff with (BlackRock) has been in the news recently for buying lots of houses and paying above market rates. They are involved with Biden's economic policy. What do they know ?
Huge deficit spending
growing homelessness
high lumber prices
return to over regulation
illegal immigrants flooding over the border.
All factors in housing demand and/or prices
and what happened to housing prices during the Carter inflation ???
Looks like Biden's advisers know where inflation headed is and are putting there money behind it
And it's not good for renters and people looking to buy in the future

(Reuters) -U.S. household wealth jumped to a record $136.9 trillion at the end of March, a report from the Federal Reserve showed on Thursday, suggesting plenty of dry tinder for economic growth as the coronavirus pandemic recedes and the nation reopens.
Rising equity markets drove the overall increase in wealth, adding $3.2 trillion to household assets in the first quarter. Rising real estate values added around $1 trillion, according to the U.S. central bank's latest quarterly report on household, business and government financial accounts.
Overall U.S. household wealth rose $5 trillion from the fourth quarter.
Balances in cash, checking accounts, and savings deposits swelled by about a combined $850 billion in the first quarter to a record $14.5 trillion, the report showed, bolstered by massive government aid aimed at blunting the economic fallout from the pandemic and bridging families to the other side of the crisis.

The fact is that conservatives are advancing these critical-race-theory bills because they don’t want the truth of slavery or racism to be taught, and I haven’t seen that at all. I think parents want their children to learn about the mistakes of the past in order to create a better future.
They want to go back to the end of the reconciliation.

Mike DeWine
Sherri Tenpenny
Gov. Mike DeWine came out against a controversial bill that would weaken Ohio's vaccination laws and grant more individual freedom, after false claims at a hearing on the bill that coronavirus vaccines "magnetized" people drew mockery and anger across the internet.
On Thursday, DeWine said he opposes House Bill 248 and asked Ohioans to think of the impact vaccines have had on society.
"Before modern medicine, diseases such as mumps, polio, whooping cough were common and caused great, great, great suffering and death to thousands of people every single year," said DeWine during a news conference on the latest Vax-a-Million winners.

Hearings on House Bill 248 have drawn national attention as advocates have spread misinformation and conspiracies. Testimony from Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, of Middleburg Heights in Cuyahoga County, and nurse Joanna Overholt of Strongsville drew derision and mockery on Twitter and landed in the national press, including the Washington Post, CNN and Forbes.
"I'm sure you've seen the pictures all over the internet of people who have had these shots and now they're magnetized," Tenpenny said at the hearing. "You can put a key on their forehead, it sticks. You can put spoons and forks all over and they can stick because now we think there is a metal piece to that."
That claim is false.
Ohio House Speaker Bob Cupp, R-Lima, defended the decision to give a platform to purveyors of misinformation. "Those kind of things are aberrations. Most of the people who come to testify provide very valuable information to the committee as they deliberate on proposed legislation," Cupp said when asked about Tenpenny.

No, Commensa,
I value the scholarship of both conservative and liberal schoars who know enough about what they are talking about to argue their conclusions cogently and support them with evidence, even when I may not completely agree.

Well, believer, tell us what is inerrant in the scripturally expressed expectations of John the Baptist, Jesus, and Paul that fiery judgment would fall and the Kingdom of God would come along with the Son of Man in clouds of heaven to rule all nations in THEIR generation.
And tell us what is scripturally false in the following article, scheduled to appear locally July 2.
FROM THE PULPIT
James Boswell
The earliest Christians were “common-ists.” No, not communists – not modern atheistic Marxists – but followers of Jesus who sought to practice his teaching by sharing “everything in common. They would sell their property and possessions to give to anyone who had need… No one claimed private ownership of any of their possessions, but everything they owned was held in common” (Acts 2:44-45; 4:23).
One reason Christian believers in Jerusalem could observe so communal and socialistic a practice was their conviction that the return of Jesus was going to take place within a very short time, bringing the blessings of God’s Kingdom to all the earth. As the years wore on, however, and Jesus’ immediate return failed to materialize, churches founded in Asia Minor, Greece, and Italy relaxed such stringent requirements for membership.
Still, as late as a quarter century after Jesus’ crucifixion, the Apostle Paul, writing to the Christians in Corinth, could assure them that “the present form of the world is passing away” and the return of Jesus was now so very near, he said, that they might want to consider abstaining from sex within marriage and even from marrying itself (!) in order to prepare themselves spiritually for Jesus’ imminent return. (1st Corinthians chapter 7; Paul’s certainty about the extreme nearness of Jesus’ return can probably be attributed to a statement by Jesus that not all his original followers would die before his return: Mark 9:1; compare Matthew 16:28).
Of course, Jesus could be exceedingly demanding and envisioned an imminent godly Kingdom on earth in which there would be neither wealth nor poverty (Luke 6:20-26) and in which no one would attempt to rule over or take advantage of others, but all would strive toward being loving servants, even slaves, of one another, as he himself felt tasked to be, even to the point of dying for the sake of the vast “many” (Mark 10:42-45; see Isaiah 53:11-12).
In the political turmoil of today, it is regrettable that so many who claim allegiance to Jesus adamantly oppose any form of “common-ism,” even when practiced by democratic societies. It is disheartening to have to admit that several nations in our world today are far more responsive to Jesus’ communal teachings than are many American politicians who seem hell-bent on creating a government dedicated to pursuing the selfish greed they want to impose on all the rest of us.
_______
Boswell is a retired pastor of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) living in Normal and is author of www.TheDeadSeaGospel.com.
Well there is this from James 5-7:9
7 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.
You are right in one respect. The early Christian community expected Christ's second coming in their lifetime. (even though there was no timeline given in the Bible) Therefore, they did not till the field or do the necessary labor to maintain the community.
James approbation was given to address this problem.
Well, believer, tell us what is inerrant in the scripturally expressed expectations of John the Baptist, Jesus, and Paul that fiery judgment would fall and the Kingdom of God would come along with the Son of Man in clouds of heaven to rule all nations in THEIR generation.
It is Republicans and conservatives who give most to their Church and charity.
As usable Boswell got it ass backwards. Jesus never advocated for the Romans to steal all of your wealth through taxation. Even though the Emperors of Rome fed the poor and gave them free entertainment.
The surrendering of your wealth must be voluntary. And a great many conservative and Republican families give a substantial part of their income to church and charities.
I asked about inerrancy.
YOU SAY:
You are right in one respect. The early Christian community expected Christ's second coming in their lifetime (even though there was no timeline given in the Bible).
_______
I SAY:
The timeline was within that generation.
Jesus in Mark 1:15:
The Kingdom of God is near.
Jesus in Mark 9:1:
Some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Kingdom of God has come with power.
alternate in Matthew 16:28:
Some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.
See also Matthew 25:31
Jesus in Mark 13:30
All these things will take place before this generation passes away.
Jesus in Mark 14:62 said to the Council who were about to condemn him to death:
I am [the Messiah, the son of the Blessed One] and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.
Jesus in Matthew-Luke (Q) said
that his generation would have to answer for the wrongs of all the generations.
He would not have said that unless he believed he was living in the last generation.
____
None of that can be inerrant.
And even more obvious are several passages in Paul's letters where he writes about the imminent passing of "the present age" and the nearness of Jesus' return before all of those to whom he was writing had died: 1 Thessslonians 4:13-18; the entire 7th chapter of 1 Corinthins and 15:51; and others, including passages in other epistles of other New Testament authors.
None of that can be inerrant either.
Start telling people the truth. I knew a woman who sadly did not remarry because her so-called spiritual advisers caused her to misunderstand the context in which Paul wrote 1 Corinthians chapter 7. Tragic.
I asked about inerrancy.
What is inerrant is that Christ will return.
If the historical man Jesus of Nazareth were to come among us today, I think he would beg us to stop repeating the ridiculous notion that he is about to return on clouds of heaven, a notion repeated with firm conviction every few years in almost every generation by fundamentalists who often list certain supposedly inerrant reasons for why this must happen very soon.
I think he would point out to us that he and the Baptist and the apostles were obviously mistaken in expecting an imminent ending of the world accompanied by the coming of God's wonderful Kingdom on all the earth in their own generation, and that there is now good scientific reason to think that our solar system has perhaps another four billion years left to survive, so that we on this planet should devote our energies to saving rather than destroying the wonderful ecosystem we have inherited but are speedily ruining.
_______
I think too he would want us to understand that he had good reason to think the end was near in his own generation, influenced as he was by the Hebrew Prophets and especially by two visions in the Scroll of Daniel (chapters two and seven) which were written not in Hebrew but in the Aramaic he spoke daily and could easily read and understand even as a very young child, visions which influenced him to speak often in his later teachings of "the Kingdom of God" and "the Son of Man."
I also think he would want us to devote more time to examining all his other teachings and trying to determine anew in what ways those teachings are, or are not, still relevant for us today, and if and how and why they still should be practiced by people willing to devote themselves to the amazingly selfless communality he himself taught, lived, suffered and sacrificially died to exemplify.
