President gives another divisive speech about race

Why are Democrats so afraid to be proud Americans?
The 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre, in which black residents were murdered in bloody riots, was an opportunity for Joe Biden to be the uniter he promised to be. Instead the president gave a speech with more partisan ire than lofty ideas; more condemnation of America than belief in it.

The horror of Tulsa, where at least 39 died and likely many more as whites burned down “Black Wall Street” is a too-often forgotten dark chapter of our history, and it’s right to highlight it.
But Biden suggested that the nation hasn’t come very far in the past century, and diminished the tragedy by pretending today’s voting laws are somehow equivalent. He accused Republicans seeking to secure election integrity of being “simply un-American,” and engaging in a “tireless assault on the right to vote,” an “unprecedented assault on our Democracy.”

Boy talk about beating a dead horse. The election laws are going to pass, they will not be overturned by the courts for being racist, and Democrats will have to live with the new reality that transparency and consistency will be the rule of elections in many states moving forward.

But there really isn't much for Democrats to rile up their base other than to appeal the lowest common denominator  of a Democratic Party electorate that has become nearly all about hate in recent years. So without anger, rage, and hate, Democrats don't stand for anything. That is a simple truth.

While it appeared easy for Democrats to hate the bad orange man, the bad orange man is gone. Not that everyone is willing to let go of the bad orange man. Some still obsess in an almost clinically insane sort of manner, but the larger part of the country has moved on.

So what is left is for the President of the United States to attack the very core of our country and demand that it is primarily evil. Obviously an evil society needs a strong central leadership that should be given the authority to crack down on the evil, anyone associated with the evil, and anyone not willing to condemn the evil. The evil, of course, being anyone who is not "woke" in the eyes of the political elite, anyone who supported the bad orange man, or anyone who admits to the crime of being a conservative.

Nevada GOP Sought Out Help from the Proud Boys

Washington Post:
“The rally at the Clark County Election Department in North Las Vegas, one of many such demonstrations around the nation, looked like an organic response to a president then trailing in early returns and threatening anew to contest his defeat. But private messages from Facebook and interviews show the extent of the efforts, in at least one battleground state,
to demonstrate the appearance of grass-roots energy to spread Trump’s falsehoods about the election.

“The behind-the-scenes maneuverings in Nevada involved
a liberal activist who had faked a persona to get close to far-right activists,
and a consultant working with the state Republican Party who contacted her in a bid to recruit the Proud Boys,
a far-right men’s group, to attend the rally.”

__________

So without appealing to the white racist deplorables and despicables, the GOP can't win?

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

We must outlaw teaching about Tulsa in our schools. It might suggest to American students that sometimes things like slavery and segregation and discrimination and lynchings and outright violence on so huge a scale as Tulsa have been wrong and have their roots in racist hatred of blacks.

C.H. Truth said...

Sorry Reverend...

But these sort of plays really appeal more to the White liberal than to any other demographic out there. White liberals care more about this sort of division and hate than any other group.

Balls is correct. The lowest common denominator is not a group of people, but an idea that Biden and gang believes will somehow in the most simplest terms appeal to those they are looking to appeal to.

That idea is a loathing of America, attempts to convince people that Americans suck, and then ultimately to place blame for that suckage on their political opponents, even as they are the ones driving the hate.

I mean, seriously Reverend.

Crime is through the roof... in Democratic strong holds. The economy is lagging in blue states, while red states are starting to already thrive.

But nobody from your leadership is trying to solve all these problems with Democrats in Democratic areas causing their own issues with their own behavior...

They are simply pointing fingers.

Oh please. Everyone knows it's the democrats inserting race into everything. There's a reason why Trump received the highest black and Hispanic support in history. No wonder democrats are trying hard to change the narrative.

The United States is in peril. The fact is that Democracies have been in peril for the first day of the foundation.

The current Republican party is the most dangerous party in American history. They don't have an agenda, all they want is power.

President Joe Biden marked Memorial Day with an address at Arlington National Cemetery, pledging to never forget or fail to honor fallen veterans’ sacrifice and saying that democracy is “worth fighting for” and “dying for.”

Democracy, which he called the “soul of America,” is in danger, Biden said on Monday.

“Democracy itself is in peril, here at home and around the world,” Biden said, speaking to military officials and people who have lost military loved ones after a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. “What we do now, what we do now, how we honor the memory of the fallen, will determine whether or not democracy will long endure.”

Throughout the speech Monday, Biden praised veterans’ sacrifice for democracy and defended democracy’s aspirations, though he said the U.S. hadn’t always lived up to them. He called empathy “the fuel of democracy.”

The president said that “we all” take democracy “for granted,” saying “the biggest question” is whether the system of democracy can win out over opposing “powerful forces.”

“All that we do in our common life as a nation is part of that struggle,” Biden said. “A struggle for democracy. It’s taking place around the world, democracy and autocracy.”

Much of the old Soviet Union European governments have become authoritarian. Even though the United States, throughout the Cold War, the nations of eastern Europe have become like Belarus.

With the Republicans voting restriction laws, they are using our Federalist system to maintain power, despite being an increasingly minority party.

The President sometimes has to tell Thecoldheartedtruth to the American people, that our country is ar risk.

A majority of Republicans believe The Big Lie. They will do anything, even armed Insurrection in the near future.

President Joe Biden delivered remarks from Tulsa, Oklahoma, on the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa race massacre on Tuesday, making him the first U.S. president to participate in the remembrance of one of the darkest days in America’s racist history.

“For much too long, the history of what took place here was told in silence, cloaked in darkness,” Biden said, speaking from Tulsa’s Greenwood Cultural Center. “But just because history is silent, it doesn’t mean that it did not take place. And while darkness can hide much, it erases nothing.”

If we don't teach our children about the truth about our dark past, the nation will die in darkness.

Tulsa...

All about the money. ONLY about the money.:

"The flagship commemoration event to mark the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre was scrapped after three survivors demanded $1 million each to appear."

"Monday's Remember & Rise event - which was also set to feature John Legend and Stacey Abrams - was called off on Friday after survivors Viola Fletcher, 107, her brother Hughes Van Ellis, 100 and Lessie Benningfield Randle, 106, upped their appearance fee from $100,000 each to $1 million each."

The Daily Mail reports.

State Sen. Kevin Matthews, the chairman of the [1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission], said after meeting with Solomon-Simmons and other representatives of the survivors, the commission agreed to provide $100,000 to each of the three survivors, along with $2 million in seed money for a reparations fund.

'We raised the money and we were excited the survivors were going to accept these gifts,' Matthews said Friday. 'Unfortunately, on Sunday they reached out and increased the amount of the $100,000-per-survivor gifts to $1 million, and instead of $2 million, they asked for $50 million - $50 million - in seed money. We could not respond to those demands. To be clear, I absolutely want the survivors, the descendants and others that were affected to be financially and emotionally supported. However, this is not the way.'

This is a lesson on reparations: It will never be enough.

Do the three centenarians look greedy? I will presume they feel principled. I would not criticize them. They were tapped for use in political theater, a fact made obvious by the use of the term "appearance fee." The much larger demand should be read as a desire to speak in terms of reparations, but as reparations, the exorbitant "appearance fee" looks radically undersized. In retrospect, it would seem that the commission should never have spoken in terms of money at all.

The man also said that black people were stolen from Africa to work as slaves for white people in colonial America.

“Once they die, we must understand that we can never give them the pain that they gave us," he insisted. “So once they get buried … once they are buried, we must bury them, dig them up and kill them again. Bury them. Dig them up. And kill them again."

His remarks caused the crowd to cheer.

Emboldened, the man continued, "Because that time will come when there's a rat-a-tat-tat. Black Americans will kill everything white in sight," and promised black Americans would give "crackers hell," "from the cradle to the grave."

Some Democrats spent the last 4 years telling Americans that the US has a system that supports racism, sexism and homophobia.

They shouldn’t be surprised that China and Russia are repeating their attacks.

Trump received the highest black and Hispanic support in history."

If that was not still a minority of that support, you would be encouraging blacks and other minorities to vote rather than trying to suppress their vote.

Just a question. Have you ever asked a minority whether he feels his vote is suppressed.

I found out that the Republicans are scared of the dark past in American history.

We have noting to be scared of alky. The Republican party was founded to confront slavery. Lincoln, a Republican, emancipated the sales. And for his effort YOU ASSHOLES murdered him.

And this is why you guys have worked so hard to re-write the history of the pre-war South.

History shows that LBJ was a deeply bigoted person.

But. He put the country first.

With support from the former Republican party, he passed the voting rights act and the civil rights legislation.

look at what you wrote, dumbass. LBJ was a racist piece of shit who put DEMOCRATS first thinking he could buy the black vote with government dependency for a path to permanent democrat power.

Democrats, led by Grand Kleagle Byrd led the filibuster AGAINST the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Republicans SAVED that legislation from defeat, and LBJ showed them no gratitude.

CRT has nothing to do with ANY of this. Not in the context of legitimate history education. CRT is grievance-mongering on a grand scale, meant to illicit shame and guilt from those who never owned a slave. Same with the concept of "white privilege."

It's ALL BULLSHIT alky. A massive con being run right out in the open used to solicit $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ via a ransom paid to assuage guilt. Once the left realized they could weaponize the word racist, and their political opponents would cower in fear at being called such, it was RANSOM TIME!

Cha Ching!!!

And that's how a "trained marxist" like Patrice Cullors amasses a multi-million $$$ real estate portfolio while not working a day in her life.

Look alky, as you've made clear around here countless times, you know not of history or of objective reason. You are arguably the most easily led and most gullible liberal I've ever 'known.'

It's no wonder you got fleeced out of Lydia's nest egg by a Nigerian Prince email scam.

Republicans at the local, state and national levels are trying to block curriculums that emphasize systemic racism.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Many conservatives portray critical race theory and invocations of systemic racism as a gauntlet thrown down to accuse white Americans of being individually racist. Republicans accuse the left of trying to indoctrinate children with the belief that the United States is inherently wicked.

It reminds me of the Red Scare of the 1950s

I don't agree that teaching the dark ages, will convince people like you are racist bastards.

If our children learn how dark we were, and how we reacted differently is a great deal.

“My fellow Americans, this was not a riot. This was a massacre.” President Biden uttered those words on Tuesday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of anti-Black violence in the Greenwood district of Tulsa The speech was extraordinary for several reasons.
First, Biden did what presidents rarely do: He taught millions of Americans something that they did not know. He explained the circumstances, the brutality and the long-term consequences of the Tulsa atrocity. “For much too long, the history of what took place here was told in silence, cloaked in darkness,” Mr. Biden said. “But just because history is silent, it doesn’t mean that it did not take place. And while darkness can hide much, it erases nothing.”
As if his condemnation of the know-nothings who seek to airbrush American history had not been clear enough, he added, “We can’t just choose to learn what we want to know.” Those are fighting words to those in the MAGA crowd who want to wallow in a made-up history devoid of racism. Biden was emphatic: “I come here to help fill the silence, because in silence, wounds deepen. As painful as it is, only in remembrance do wounds heal.”
Second, Biden actually explained to those who cared to listen what systemic racism is. The results of Tulsa’s violence — and events similar to it — reverberate through history. Millions of dollars in family wealth was eliminated; the wealth gap persists to this day. The indifference (if not complicity) of police to Black victims, and their attempt to cast Black men as dangerous, became an enduring facet of our criminal justice system. If the country doesn’t grapple with historical events such as these, it cannot understand the intentional government policies that divided neighborhoods, segregated public housing and kept Blacks from attaining parity with Whites. As Biden put it, “Great nations … come to terms with their dark side.”

You have right-wing loons fear is that young women and men will be indelibly indoctrinated with leftist propaganda.

That shows their insecurities. If it's so indelible, why have so many Republican leaders been graduates of elite Ivy League universities, those bastions of liberalism? The last three GOP presidents, five members of the Supreme Court's conservative bloc and Senate bomb-throwers Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are all “elite” ivy grads.

Exactly what I said would happen Scott

This brings us to a nightmare scenario: a Republican-controlled Congress overturning the 2024 presidential election results to install Trump or a Trump mini-me in the White House. In January, 139 House Republicans and eight Senate Republicans voted not to certify electoral college results in at least one state. Since then, the most prominent GOP opponent of the “big lie," Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.), has been purged from the House leadership. Willingness to lie about election fraud has become a litmus test for Republicans, with the implicit threat of mob violence if they don’t go along. Republicans are so scared of Trump and his fanatical followers that most of them just voted against a bipartisan investigation of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Many congressional Republicans will refuse to certify a 2024 Democratic win in swing states. If Republicans control Congress, they could deny the Democrats an electoral college majority and throw the election to the House — where each state delegation, regardless of population, would cast one ballot. Given that Republicans already control a majority of state delegations, they could override the election outcome. If that happens, it would spell the end of American democracy.
