They have done everything right.
Pelosi is an open minded Socialist.
She is not about to hear any opposing view.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has decided not to participate in the select committee investigating the Jan. 6 on the Capitol, pulling all of his GOP picks in protest of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) decision to reject two top Republicans, The Hill reports.
Said McCarthy: “Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts.”
They are scared about Thecoldheartedtruth about their former President Trump and his son and allies in the Insurrection on January 6th.
When the truth comes out about how he orchestrated the Insurrection he will die alone in prison .

"The Biden administration's guidance for school reopening promoted a radical activist group’s handbook that advocates for educators to "disrupt Whiteness and other forms of oppression."
The Department of Education linked to the Abolitionist Teaching Network’s "Guide for Racial Justice & Abolitionist Social and Emotional Learning" in its handbook intended to help schools reopen after the COVID-19 pandemic and recommend how they should spend billions of dollars they collectively received through the American Rescue Plan.
The Abolitionist Teaching Network’s website includes links to various materials and media that include language often associated with critical race theory, though the group avoids using the exact phrase.
"Abolitionist Teachers" should "[b]uild a school culture that engages in healing and advocacy. This requires a commitment to learning from students, families, and educators who disrupt Whiteness and other forms of oppression," the group states in its guide."

BREAKING: Speaker NANCY PELOSI has snubbed two of House Minority Leader KEVIN MCCARTHY’S appointments to the Jan. 6 select committee, formally rejecting Reps. JIM BANKS and JIM JORDAN. McCarthy responded in short order by pulling the remaining GOP appointees to the panel.
“I have spoken with him this morning about the objections raised about Representatives Jim Banks and Jim Jordan and the impact their appointments may have on the integrity of the investigation. I also informed him that I was prepared to appoint Representatives Rodney Davis, Kelly Armstrong and Troy Nehls, and requested that he recommend two other Members.
“With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee. The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision.” The full statement … More from Olivia Beavers
@GOPLeader threatens to pull all his members from the panel: “Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts.” McCarthy’s full statement
Heather Caygle (@heatherscope): “‘It’s unprecedented, it’s never happened before in the history of select committees,’ Jordan tells me of Pelosi's decision to veto his membership. He’s headed to meet with McCarthy now.”
— Both Banks and Jordan objected to the election results on Jan. 6, as did Nehls.
— @scottwongDC: “Banks met with Trump twice in recent weeks, at his NJ golf club and on the Texas border. That likely was a red flag for Pelosi.”
But our own Rachael Bade says this move by Pelosi “is going to be a gift to Kevin McCarthy in the long run. He wanted this panel to look partisan and political. Now it's definitely going to look partisan and political.”
Pelosi spox DREW HAMMILL responds: “The panel is already bipartisan and has a quorum. There's nothing partisan about seeking the truth.”
AND THEN THERE’S THIS — “Republicans threaten to hold up debt ceiling days before deadline, raising potential for political showdown,” by WaPo’s Tony Romm and Seung Min Kim: “Senate Republicans on Wednesday threatened to vote against an increase to the debt ceiling unless Congress first agrees to new spending cuts or other reforms, raising the potential for a major political showdown that could carry vast implications for both the global economy as well as President Biden’s agenda.
“The new ultimatum marked a reversal for Republicans, who agreed to address the ceiling — the statutory amount the government can borrow to pay its bills — multiple times to advance policies under now-former President Donald Trump that helped add $7 trillion to the federal deficit during his term. … The renewed Republican threats arrived only 10 days before a current agreement that suspends the debt ceiling is set to expire.”
— NBC’s @kylegriffin1: “Schumer: McConnell's ‘statements on debt ceiling are shameless, cynical, and totally political. This debt is Trump debt. It's COVID debt. … Leader McConnell should not be playing political games with the full faith and credit of the United States. Americans pay their debts.’”

The panel will hold its first hearing next week, with at least four rank-and-file police officers who battled rioters that day testifying about their experiences. Dozens of police officers were injured as the crowd pushed past them and broke into the Capitol building.
Seven people died during and after the rioting, including a woman who was shot by police as she tried to break into the House chamber and three other Trump supporters who suffered medical emergencies. Two police officers died by suicide in the days that followed, and a third officer, Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, collapsed and later died after engaging with the protesters. A medical examiner determined he died of natural causes.

The fake news robotics said that she fucked up.
Nancy Pelosi just doomed the already tiny chances of the 1/6 committee actually mattering
Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large
Updated Jul 21, 2021
(CNN) - If you ever held any hope that the House select committee on the January 6 US Capitol riot might produce a report that would help us understand what happened in the lead-up to that day and, in so doing, provide us avenues to keeping it from happening again, you should give up on those hopes now.
The reason? Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision Wednesday to reject two of the five nominees -- Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana -- put forward by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to serve on the panel.
"The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision," Pelosi said by way of explanation in rejecting Jordan and Banks.
While Pelosi referred only to "concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members," it seems likely that the reason she rejected their appointments to the select committee was because both men voted to object to the Electoral College votes in Pennsylvania and Arizona. (A third appointee, Texas Rep. Troy Nehls, also voted to object but Pelosi said she would be fine with him on the committee -- perhaps because of Nehls background as a sheriff prior to coming to Congress.)
No matter Pelosi's reasoning, her decision to reject Jordan and Banks, the two most high-profile Republicans put forward by McCarthy, dooms even the possibility of the committee being perceived as bipartisan or its eventual findings being seen as independent.
Pelosi and her Democratic defenders will cast the decision as the only one she really had available to her after McCarthy made his picks known earlier this week.
And it's beyond debate that McCarthy's choices -- especially Banks and Jordan -- were aimed at turning the committee into something of a circus. Both men would have, at every turn, sought to turn the tables on Democrats -- using the platform provided by the committee to push debunked claims about Antifa's involvement in the Capitol riot, questioning Democratic leadership's readiness for just such an attack and trying to broaden the committee's mandate to cover the Black Lives Matter protests of summer 2020.
Knowing this, Pelosi's move is rightly understood as robbing Republicans of that platform. But it also dooms the committee -- before it even holds a single hearing or meeting.
Because predictably, in the immediate aftermath of Pelosi's announcement, McCarthy said he was pulling all five of his nominees to the committee.
"Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts," McCarthy said in a statement.
You can be sure every Republican will use Pelosi's rejection of their nominees as evidence that she doesn't want the, uh, truth to come out.
This isn't true, of course. There's zero evidence that suggests Pelosi or Democrats did anything wrong in advance of or during the January 6 riot, which was incited by former President Donald Trump. But Pelosi has handed Republicans a golden issue to rev up their base in advance of the 2022 midterms -- and you can bet they will use it.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story misstated in one instance how Pelosi responded to the nominations of Reps. Jim Jordan and Jim Banks to serve on the select committee; she rejected them.

President Donald Trump reportedly fawned over Russian President Vladimir Putin to his aides after they met for a high stakes summit in Helsinki last week.
The Washington Post reported that Trump specifically admired how Putin is "strong, smart, and cunning." He also reportedly said he relished his interactions with the Russian leader.
Trump stunned observers when, during a press conference after the Helsinki summit, he refused to denounce Putin, declined to hold Russia accountable for its interference in the 2016 election, and suggested the FBI was part of a conspiracy to underine his election victory. Instead, he touted the "direct, open, deeply productive dialogue" he had with Putin.
In turn, national security experts said, Putin played Trump like a fiddle.
WASHINGTON — A fourth person who joined with members of the far-right Oath Keepers during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot pleaded guilty Tuesday and was cooperating with federal investigators.
The man, Caleb Berry, 20, of Tampa, Florida, admitted in federal court in Washington, D.C., that he and other group members planned for Jan. 6 and entered the Capitol in a single-file formation.
Prosecutors had asked a federal judge to keep records of his case under seal until Tuesday to avoid tipping off other Oath Keepers who face federal charges. Maintaining secrecy "will ensure the defendant's safety while he cooperates pursuant to his plea agreement," they said.

Jennifer Rubin:
“What most motivates these traditionally Republican voters — and infuriates them about their former party — is the MAGA Republicans’ war on truth and democracy.
“More about any policy issue foreign or domestic, these Republicans are deeply concerned about the GOP’s descent into a cult that poses a danger
both to its own followers (via vaccine denial)
and to democracy.
"The gap between their concern for democracy and the next issue of importance is vast.
"Indeed, these are essentially one issue voters — the issue being democracy.”

Poll finds 71% of Americans oppose vaccine mandates
July 21, 2021
The American people are overwhelmingly opposed to vaccine mandates and believe that the decision on whether to get vaccinated against COVID-19 should be a “personal choice,” according to a new national survey.
A nationwide issues survey of likely general election voters conducted by the Trafalgar Group in partnership with Convention of States Action found that 71.4% of respondents said taking COVID-19 vaccines should be a personal choice. Just 21.8% said vaccination should be mandatory, while 6.8% were unsure.
Rising numbers of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in the U.S. have in recent weeks prompted public health experts to express concerns that too few Americans are getting vaccinated. Some Biden administration officials, such as President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci, have called for vaccine mandates as a solution.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average number of new cases has risen to about 27,000 per day, up 7,000 new cases over the previous week. More than 8 in 10 of new COVID cases were caused by the Delta variant, a coronavirus strain from India that is more contagious than other variants but not more severe.
At the same time, the 7-day average of vaccine doses being administered in the United States has fallen to an estimated 530,000 per day. According to the New York Times vaccine tracker, only 48.6% of Americans are fully vaccinated and just 56.1% have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Public health officials believe 70%-90% of Americans need to be vaccinated before the country can achieve herd immunity, which would enable a full return to the pre-pandemic normal.
The Biden administration has blamed misinformation on social media for remaining vaccine hesitancy. Biden recently called for a door-to-door volunteer effort to reach out to unvaccinated people in targeted communities and attempt to persuade them to get vaccinated. Recent polling suggests that such an effort would only be marginally successful, as majorities of unvaccinated Americans say there is nothing that could convince them to get the COVID-19 shots.
If efforts to persuade the unvaccinated fail, public health officials predict vaccine mandates may be put into effect by businesses and government agencies once the FDA grants full approval to one or more of the vaccines.
But the Trafalgar Group poll indicates there would be strong bipartisan opposition to such mandates.
Republicans are almost uniformly opposed to vaccine mandates, with 87.3% of those surveyed saying taking a COVID vaccine should be a personal choice. Only 7.2% of Republicans said the vaccines should be mandatory and 5.5% were unsure.
But a majority of Democrats are also opposed to vaccine mandates. Just 33% of Democrats say the vaccines should be mandatory while 58.7% say getting vaccinated should be a personal choice.
Those who declined to identify with either major party were also opposed to vaccine mandates, with 67.2% saying vaccination should be a personal choice and 26.5% answering they should be mandatory.
Mark Meckler, president of Convention of States, discussed the poll results with BlazeTV host Steve Deace on Tuesday.
“What it shows is the American people still by and large, including Democrats, are people who think for themselves. They’re not listening to the hundreds of millions of posts on social media pushed by Facebook and all these other tyrannical oligarchs, they’re listening to their own judgment and they trust their own judgment,” said Meckler.
“Overall, it’s very hopeful in seeing that people are still self-governing folks in the United States,” he added.

This hyper-political committee has a script to follow. And it will begin and end with Donald Trump.
“The impeachment trial was about one guy and one crime — it was about presidential incitement to insurrection,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.). Raskin served as lead prosecutor in Trump’s second Senate impeachment trial. “The select committee has the charge of determining how it was organized, how it was financed, and what the purposes of the insurrection were.”
Politico:
And as the panel prepares for its first hearing next week, those Democrats are foreshadowing an effort to dig deeply into the chaotic endgame of the Trump White House. The waning days of Trump’s reign, they say, laid the groundwork for the Capitol riot and was worsened by a national-security paralysis set into motion by the former president.
“This is a matter of democratic survival and national security to define these events and their causes, and then to prepare for a change, and prepare for security in the future,” Raskin added.
If that were true, why doesn’t Biden declare martial law and go after these people? After all, most of the “plotters” are still out there plotting. What is Biden doing to save us from these extremists?
If one-tenth of what’s been written about Trump’s behavior in his final days in office is true, his family should have him committed to an insane asylum. But all of these “revelations” from aides looking to save their own skin have yet to show any criminal acts by anyone in the White House.
But don’t worry. The Democrats are sure to find some.

Make sure that word salad is to go please
Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney just appeared on the steps of the US Capitol to blast fellow GOPer Kevin McCarthy over his actions to remove all the Republicans he’d appointed to the committee created to investigate the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol by extremist supporters of Donald Trump.

Cheney, who was ousted from her leadership post as the No. 3 Republican in the House in May over criticism of Trump’s claims that he won the 2020 election, accused McCarthy of trying to “prevent” Americans from knowing the truth of how the Capitol attack occurred.
“The American people deserve to know what happened. The people who did this must be held accountable, it must be an investigation that is sober and gets to the facts,” she said, adding that, however “at every turn the minority leader has tried to get the people not to know what happened.”
Cheney then said: “This investigation must go forward. The idea that anybody would be playing politics with an attack on the United States Capitol is despicable and disgraceful.”

Milley pressed on claims he was concerned Trump would attempt coup
By Zachary Cohen and Michael Conte, CNN
Updated Jul 21, 2021
Washington (CNN) - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley said Wednesday he wouldn't comment on a recent book excerpt alleging he and other top officials were so deeply concerned that former President Donald Trump and his allies might attempt a coup after the November 2020 election they informally planned for ways to stop it.
"I'm not going to comment on what's in any of those books," Milley said during a press conference at the Pentagon where he was repeatedly pressed on a myriad of claims about his relationship with the former President.
However, Milley did stress that he and the other top Pentagon leaders have always "maintained" their oaths to the Constitution and not to any individual, making clear that "the military did not and will not and should not ever get involved in domestic politics."
"I want you to know, and I want everyone to know, I want America to know, that the United States military is an apolitical institution. We were then; we are now. And our oath is to the Constitution, not to any individual at all," he said.
"We don't arbitrate elections. That's the job of the judiciary and the legislature and the American people. It is not the job of the US military. We stayed out of politics. We're an apolitical institution," Milley added.
The top US general also reiterated that he has always presented the best military advice to Trump and President Joe Biden. "I always personally provided the best military professional advice to President Trump previously, to President Biden or any other president."
Milley's comments come as he features prominently in a slew of scathing books released this summer detailing the final months of Trump's time in office.
Excerpts from those books have transformed Milley's image from Trump's hand-picked general -- who accompanied the President to his infamous photo-op at St. John's Church during the George Floyd protests -- to one of the former President's harshest critics.
According to the upcoming book from Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, "I Alone Can Fix It," Milley was deeply concerned Trump and his allies might attempt a coup after the election, and he compared Trump's lies about election fraud to the rhetoric used by Adolf Hitler as he rose to power in Germany.
"This is a Reichstag moment," Milley told his aides, according to the book. "The gospel of the Führer."
Those startling comments were only the latest instance where Milley found himself in the middle of major political fights in both the Trump era and during the fallout from the January 6 insurrection.
Another book by Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender says Milley repeatedly pushed back on Trump's argument that the military should intervene violently in order to quell the civil unrest that erupted around the country last year and was the lone voice of opposition to those demands during heated Oval Office discussions.
Titled "Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost," the book reveals new details about how Milley repeatedly intervened as Trump's language became increasingly violent during Oval Office meetings as protests in Seattle and Portland began to receive attention from cable new outlets.
"Just shoot them," Trump said on multiple occasions inside the Oval Office, according to the excerpts.
When Milley and then-Attorney General William Barr would push back, Trump toned it down, but only slightly, Bender adds.
Trump fallout
While Milley has sought to distance himself from politics, Wednesday's press conference once again underscores how he and other top officials are still grappling with the fallout from Trump's presidency months after he left office.
After the new revelations about Milley's actions and views surrounding the January 6 insurrection came out earlier this month, Trump wasted little time before trashing Milley in a lengthy statement calling for him to be fired.
"I never threatened, or spoke about, to anyone, a coup of our Government," Trump said. "If I was going to do a coup, one of the last people I would want to do it with is General Mark Milley."
As was evident Wednesday, Milley does not plan to publicly address the issues raised in the book, a defense official close to him previously told CNN.
The official acknowledged that during the final weeks of the Trump administration, Milley engaged in activities and communications not part of the traditional portfolio of a Joint Chiefs chairman, carrying a heavier political load to keep Trump in check. While Milley "tried his hardest to actively stay out of politics," the official said, if the events that occurred brought him into that arena temporarily, "so be it."
"He's not going to sit in silence while people try to use the military against Americans," the official said.
Standing alongside Milley on Wednesday, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin defended the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, telling reporters, "He doesn't have a political bone in his body."
"I've known the chairman for a long time. We've fought together. We've served a couple of times in the same unit. So I'm not guessing at his character," Austin said. "And I think, I clearly have tremendous faith and confidence in the chairman."
"It's really important to me that this department remain apolitical. And so we're going to do everything within our power to make sure that our troops, our leadership, both civilian and military, remain focused on the task at hand, and understand that they're not a part of the political apparatus here," Austin added.

Liz Cheney: Obama a Failure, Made America 'Irrelevant'
“The president would like the American people to believe that the killing of Osama bin Laden sort of put an end to the threat that we face and, although we need to give him credit for ordering that operation –any American president would have ordered it – what we’ve seen is al-Qaida that is resurgent.
“When you look at what happens when America retreats, when you look of the pictures of a TV screen – and then you remember that when the president appeared in the Rose Garden 24 hours after our embassy was attacked, our flag was torn down, it was burned, the al-Qaida flag was hung in its place and the president said nothing about it. He didn’t comment at all. And today, you’re seeing the attacks on the embassy in Pakistan.
“This president sent a very clear message to radicals across the region that you can attack an American embassy and you won’t be condemned by Barack Obama.”
...
“People understand that things don’t have to be this way. We don’t have to be in a situation where with college graduates, 50 percent now are unemployed or underemployed, where the unemployment rate for women has gone up to over 8 percent under this president. You’ve got more adults unemployed than any time since 1980.
“The one thing you can say of the national security record is, if anything, it’s even worse than the economic record,” Cheney added. “I’m confident that we will see reminders to people of what a poor performance we’ve seen from President Obamahttps://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/cheney-obama-america-irrelevant/2012/09/20/id/457015/
DeSantis PLEADS with Floridians to Get Vaccinated

I was reading the book about the former President and January 6th.
If true, he could face sedition charges.
On January 4, Pentagon officials received a morning update on preparations for January 6 and learned the FBI had no credible reports of dangerous threats, but that the crowd estimate had risen to twenty thousand based on hotel occupancy levels. The weather forecast was a clear day without rain, not what law enforcement officials hoping for a low turnout wanted to hear. Homeland Security officials reported that the two main points of protest would be at the Capitol and at the Ellipse near the White House. Washington D.C. National Guard Commander
William Walker said his team was helping D.C. police man key checkpoints, and D.C. police seemed to believe they had enough Guard support. The Secret Service asked for five military civil support teams to help them in and around the White House. The FBI flagged in a briefing later that afternoon that agents had seen an increase in violent rhetoric on social media, just as Milley had on Dataminr, but there was nothing specific they could act on. At the White House, meanwhile, staffers were preparing for Trump to address the “Save America” rally at the Ellipse on January 6. Advance staff considered the best places to hang signs and mapped out where the president would stand and what the camera angles might be. Secret Service officers prepared how and when to safely move the president from the White House to the rally space.

Are there more than a few fringe players out there who are at some major semblance of power or prestige who are literally calling on people to "not" vaccinate?
Not sure who you think you are arguing with here. Are there Republicans in Congress telling people to not vaccinate? Are there Republican Governors who are not pushing out the vaccinations to their constituents?

Alky, the main provision of the Insurrection Act states that troops can only be deployed to an American state by the President if the governor or state legislature requests it.
Another provision of the law outlines that under certain limited circumstances involved in the defense of constitutional rights, the President can send troops unilaterally.
It's a law enforcement measure. Not a law that Trump might have been in violation of.

One of the core problems with American governance is overfunding. The government has FAR too much money, by an order of magnitude. It uses that excess cash to make itself bigger. It is insulated from every force that would compel greater honesty or efficiency.
The government is so flabby that it can barely move. Its nerve endings are deadened from the layers of fat that protect it from all consequences. It can't actually *do* anything useful, and it collapses in a quivering heap at the first touch of genuine crisis, as in the pandemic
Overfunded government agencies constantly seek new "missions" so they can demand even more funding, while neglecting their core missions. The sums flowing through these agencies are so immense that corruption has become all but undetectable.
If necessity is the mother of invention, then Big Government is the motherless monstrosity: it invents nothing because it never feels the sting of necessity. Its only response to any pain inputs it dimly feels through its layers of fat is to howl for more money.

The great vaccination farce: Twice vaccinated Boris Johnson ordered to self-isolate
By Vasko Kohlmayer
Boris Johnson has been ordered to self-isolate… again. The isolation order, however, was not issued because Johnson contracted the virus. Rather he has been sent packing to his country house because he came into proximity of an individual who tested positive for Covid.
You may well wonder why the British Prime Minister has been so unceremoniously put away given that he should be safe from the virus. If you did not know, in addition to having overcome the infection, Boris has received his two jabs earlier this year and upon accomplishing the feat urged everyone else to do likewise. The promise was that by getting the shots we will be kept safe from the Covid scourge, and our lives will finally return to normal.
PM Boris Johnson
Photo ce4edit: Bulgarian presidency CC BY 2.0 license
Well, it is apparently not true as the case of Johnson clearly demonstrates. It also shows that the powers that be have no confidence in the efficacy of the vaccines to protect their recipients from the virus. Why, otherwise, would they lock Boris away for ten days? And there is no way out for the hapless Premier either. He is not even allowed to take a PCR test after five days as most travelers usually can do. The double vaccinated Johnson must do ten days of hard Covid penance.
This is a farce if there ever was one. It is also a tragedy because the scam is both gross and immense.

Pelosi Kicks Kooks Off Coup Committee
BY JIM NEWELL

Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images
In June, weeks after Senate Republicans filibustered legislation to set up an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 Capitol riot, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi moved ahead with Plan B: setting up a select committee within the House to perform the investigation. This one, like Republicans’ select committee to investigate the Benghazi attacks last decade, would be far more partisan in tilt.
The resolution setting up the select committee, which passed the House in late June, gave Pelosi the authority to “appoint 13 Members to the Select Committee, 5 of whom shall be appointed after consultation with the minority leader.” That is usually just polite legislative language allotting the minority five committee appointments. The Benghazi committee resolution, similarly, gave the speaker power to “appoint 12 Members to the Select Committee, five of whom shall be appointed after consultation with the minority leader.” Pelosi, then the minority leader, picked five members, who were accepted.
McCarthy announced his five picks to Jan. 6 committee on Tuesday: Reps. Jim Banks, Jim Jordan, Troy Nehls, Kelly Armstrong, and Rodney Davis. On Wednesday, though, Pelosi pulled a move she conceded was “unprecedented”: She actually used the veto power granted to her in the resolution, and told McCarthy that she would reject the two most MAGA of his picks, Banks and Jordan.

WASHINGTON — Republicans voted Wednesday to block the Senate from beginning debate on an infrastructure proposal, saying they wanted more time to finalize the details of the agreement.
But that doesn't mean the deal is dead.
The bipartisan group insists they are getting close to the finish line on how to finance the $579 billion package, even though the Democrats and Republicans disagreed about whether to formally begin consideration on the Senate floor.
The procedural motion failed 49-51, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer switching his vote to "no" at the end to preserve his option to call the same vote on another day. The motion needed 60 to succeed.
A group of 22 senators working on the deal — led by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio — said after the vote they "have made significant progress and are close to a final agreement."
Negotiations are still going on.

By 2030, Kernel’s founder Bryan Johnson aims to put a brain helmet in every American household. Like Musk, he’s convinced mere humanity will need a wide range of enhancement tools to remain relevant in the age of artificial intelligence — because anything you can do, AI can do better.
The Quest To Accelerate Human Evolution
As a religious philosophy, transhumanism sees technological augmentation as a moral duty. It begins with the quest to overcome disease, old age, and death, and it ends with something like the Christian vision of human perfection and immortality.
It’s an underappreciated fact that many transhumanists are not atheists. Some see technology as a way to realize God’s unfolding plan — even if that means irreversibly altering the human form, or replacing humans with simulacra altogether.
Resting on the pillars of gene-editing, bionic modification, neuro-enhancement, robotics, and artificial intelligence, transhumanism is yet another dream for a better world. Naturally, these far-reaching ambitions invite revulsion and ridicule from normal people.
Perhaps more importantly, human perfection has always proven to be an impossible dream (the Kardashians are a fine example). That limitation may not matter, though, as long as powerful people are driven to pursue grand visions and intend to drag the rest of us along.
Chang’s UCSF brain implant experiment shows that some aspects of the transhumanist vision are already within reach. Technology confers miraculous powers. Even if the subject’s immune system eventually rejects the electrodes in his head (as is quite common), for now he’s able to do something that for nearly two decades was impossible: directly express his thoughts in words.
One of the more touching phrases he’s able to convey is, “I need you.” Although the study makes no mention of it, I imagine he immediately said, “Thank you.” Progress won’t stop with this heart-warming scenario, though. It never does.
The first computers were developed out of military necessity. Today, more than six billion people in the world casually use smartphones to enhance memory and cognition as if they always existed. Sex-change operations were pioneered to cater to troubled souls who saw no other option. Now hormone therapy is in vogue and even children are being convinced to try it.
It’s only a matter of time before we see attempts to use elective brain implants to create elite mathematicians and super-soldiers. Over and over again, we’re told this new world is “inevitable.” That may be the case, but not because God or nature deemed it so. Transhumanism is inevitable for the same reason that war is always imminent: because someone with enough power wants it to happen.

“Top White House aides and Biden administration officials are debating whether they should urge vaccinated Americans to wear masks in more settings as the delta variant causes spikes in coronavirus infections across the country,” the Washington Post reports.
“The talks are in a preliminary phase and their result could be as simple as new messaging from top White House officials. But some of the talks include officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who are separately examining whether to update their masking guidance.”

News Media That Conspired to Dismiss Biden Laptop Scandal as ‘Russian Disinformation’ Are Now Trapped
Commentary If you limit your news reading to only the U.S. corporate media, you miss a lot. For …
And still on the job in April:

We already saw all during Trump’s candidacy and his presidency exactly how a politicized federal investigation staffed by political partisans is run. Crossfire Hurricane and the Mueller Special Counsel gave us all an eyeful of it.
First, a politicized federal investigation run by political partisans engages in frequent leaking, much of which subsequently turns out to be fake. The Crossfire Hurricane FBI team used a strategy of strategic leaking to place people like Donald Trump, General Flynn, Carter Page, Paul Manafort and others under a cloud of suspicion of being Russian agents.
Then on taking over for the Crossfire Hurricane Team, the Mueller Special Counsel leaked early and often for almost 2 years, seeding the news media with fake stories about how Mueller was supposedly finding tons of evidence and the walls were closing in on Donald Trump, etc. etc. And it was all BS.
Second, a politicized federal investigation run by political partisans is later exposed as being riddled with errors and fraud and illegal conduct. This is true of both the Crossfire Hurricane team and the Mueller Special Counsel, both of which are currently targets of the Durham Special Counsel investigation.
Now having explained to you the essential and obvious natures of the Crossfire Hurricane and Mueller Special Counsel federal investigations, allow me to point out how both the Durham Special Counsel and the Hunter Biden investigation have a completely different nature.
While the CH team and the Mueller SCO leaked often, peppering the news media weekly with new fake stories, Durham hasn’t leaked one f**king thing in 5 years and neither has the US Attorney or the FBI people involved in the Biden Crime Family probe. And you can quote me on that.
While the work of the CH Team and the Mueller SCO were riddled with fraud, fakery and violations of the law, nobody has even been able to come up with a single allegation that anybody involved in the Durham SCO or the Biden Crime Family investigation have faked or frauded their way to anything.
In fact, we already have seen a great deal of the evidence upon which the Durham SCO’s investigation of the Crossfire Hurricane team and the Muller SCO is based on. We’ve seen the declassified documents. We’ve seen some of the laptop contents. We have a Senate Report. Far from being based on fraud or fakery, the evidence driving the Durham SCO and the Biden Crime Family criminal probe are very real.
IF the Durham SCO had political partisans in it, and if the Biden Crime Family investigative team had political partisans in it, they would have been leaking long ago. You’d see stories with anonymous federal agents saying “Why are we still here? There’s nothing here! We’re 3 years into this, we’re wasting our time!” Have you seen any stories with “persons familiar with the matter” saying anything like that to NBC News? Of course you haven’t. There are no leaks.
I can wait to be right. And I’m going to be proven right. And you can quote me on that. /end
James , you can 😷 up.
Without being told.
Just as I never wore a mask (one exception, the fine lady that CUT my hair because it made her feel better).
While Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's effort failed -- handing him and President Joe Biden at least a temporary political loss on a top priority -- the White House earlier Wednesday the president was "extremely supportive" of Schumer's strategy aimed at jump starting negotiations on the measure that would spend $1.2 trillion on "traditional infrastructure."
Roger said it was "$579 billion".
The Reagan administration helped block legislation to rein in these hostile takeovers, and refused to lift a finger to enforce antitrust laws that could have prevented some of them.
I wish I could report that the Clinton and Obama administrations reformed labor laws to make it harder for corporations to bust unions. But either because Bill Clinton and Barack Obama lacked the political clout to get this done or didn’t want to expend the political capital, the fact is neither president led the way.
The result of these political choices? Corporate profits have soared and wages have stagnated.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can turn the tide by making new political choices that restore the voice and centrality of American workers.
The most important is now in front of us: It’s called the Protecting the Right to Organize Act.
Passed in the House in March with bipartisan support, the PRO Act is the toughest labor law reform in a generation.
It prevents misclassification of full-time workers, bans corporations from harassing or intimidating workers who want to form a union, prohibits employers from replacing striking workers with non-union workers, and beefs up penalties for breaking existing labor laws, among other provisions empowering workers.
Beyond the PRO Act, American businesses need to be restructured so workers have a say at every level. At the top, that means a voice on corporate boards. In many European countries, worker representation has been shown to boost wages, skills, and corporate investment in communities.
At the local level, we should make it easier to establish worker-owned cooperatives, which have been shown to increase profits, wages, and worker satisfaction.
And our trade and foreign policy can center on American workers without falling into the kind of xenophobia and nativism Donald Trump promoted.
Reversing 40 years of shareholder capitalism won’t be easy. But remember this: you, the working people of America, outnumber the corporate executives and big investors by a wide margin. Together, you can change the rules, and build a world where workers have real power.

President Trump has put the mainstream media on blast and has accused Democrats of leading America towards communism. On Tuesday, Trump was interviewed on the Michael Savage Show, where he blasted the media for protecting Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats.
Trump went on to criticize Biden for allowing illegal immigrants to flood into the U.S., leading to a crime wave and COVID-19 infection surges in border states. The 45th president also discussed election integrity and the importance of securing U.S. elections against fraud.
He said back in 2016 he was able to catch the establishment off guard, but in 2020 they were ready for him. President Trump did not confirm if he would be running again in 2024, however, he did say his supporters would be happy when he makes his announcement.
Trump said under Biden the U.S. is trending toward a level of leftism never before seen in its’ history.

We should be thankful that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) just pulled Republicans out of any involvement in the select committee to examine the Jan. 6 insurrection. In so doing, he ensured that the committee’s investigation will both have more integrity and be more likely to undertake a valuable accounting.
Which goes to a larger truth about this moment: Efforts at a real examination of arguably the worst outbreak of political violence in modern times — and efforts to protect our democracy more broadly — will not be bipartisan. These things will be done by Democrats alone.
McCarthy’s handling of the Jan. 6 committee illustrates the point. It comes after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that she is nixing two of McCarthy’s picks to serve on it: Reps. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
McCarthy mustered great outrage about this, railing that it was an “abuse of power” that had cost the committee “all legitimacy and credibility.”
In fact, precisely the opposite is true: By pulling out, McCarthy has boosted the committee’s legitimacy and credibility immeasurably. The less involved McCarthy is with this committee, the more likely it will be to undertake a genuine and comprehensive accounting.
McCarthy’s picks were expressly designed to prevent that accounting. This is not speculation or a mere guess at McCarthy’s motives. It is unavoidably clear from the public statements and conduct of Banks and Jordan themselves.
Banks’s first act on getting named by McCarthy was to release a statement declaring that the committee must investigate the “hundreds of violent political riots” in which “many more innocent Americans and law-enforcement officers were attacked.”
That’s an explicit declaration that the insurrection and President Donald Trump’s incitement of it should not be the focus of the committee and is a less serious matter than those riots.
Similarly, after Jordan was picked, he immediately declared he wants to serve on the committee because “this is impeachment Round 3,” unwittingly revealing — or perhaps unabashedly declaring — that he saw his role as solely a means for working to exonerate Trump.
What’s more, Jordan had already played a prominent role in spreading the very lies about the 2020 election that helped inspire the insurrection the committee will be investigating. Given that the committee is charged with probing the causes of the violence — and that those lies are a major cause — any real accounting must also implicate Republicans such as Jordan.
On top of all this, remember that McCarthy could have exercised even more control over the investigation — yet declined. Back in May, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), the Homeland Security Committee chair, announced an agreement with the ranking Republican on an evenly divided 10-member bipartisan commission, with both parties having veto power over subpoenas.
Guess who voted against that commission? McCarthy, Banks and Jordan did.

McCarthy’s Gift to Pelosi
July 22, 2021 at 6:53 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Playbook:
“If Pelosi gave McCarthy a gift for his own base Wednesday, McCarthy handed the speaker one in return for hers: His announcement that he would withdraw all his members from the panel unless she reverses course is exactly what a lot of Democrats were hoping for.
“Now, Democrats (plus Rep. Liz Cheney) can subpoena whomever they want, whenever they want, without any protest. If they decide to have closed-door depositions with Trump White House officials, the former president will have no spies in the room to report back. And the public hearings will be free of GOP complaints. In that regard, perhaps, Pelosi may say the move was worth it.”

U.S. Virus Cases Triple In Two Weeks

Associated Press:
“Across the U.S., the seven-day rolling average for daily new cases rose over the past two weeks to more than 37,000 on Tuesday, up from less than 13,700 on July 6… Health officials blame the delta variant and slowing vaccination rates. Just 56.2% of Americans have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the CDC.”
Department of Justice Restricts Contact with White House
July 22, 2021 at 7:01 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Attorney General Merrick Garland
“issued a long-anticipated directive restricting Justice Department contact with the White House as a firewall against potential political interference,” USA Today reports.
“The order, which reaffirmed some policies of previous administrations, marks a sharp pivot from the Trump era when the former president casually broke with institutional norms, repeatedly calling on the department to launch investigations of his political rivals, including Biden, Hillary Clinton and former FBI Director James Comey.”

Biden’s Approval Rate Has Barely Budged
FiveThirtyEight:
“Biden’s job approval rating over his first six months in office was the steadiest such rating of any recent president during that period, according to FiveThirtyEight’s historical approval rating data. His approval has ranged from a high of 55.1 percent on March 22 to a low of 51.1 percent on July 15 — a difference of just 4 percentage points, as the chart below shows.
“Biden’s fairly static numbers are at least in part a reflection of the lack of major scandals in his administration as well as its avoidance, for now, of deeply unpopular policies — developments that have tripped up some of his predecessors.”
TRUMP NEVER EVEN ATTAINED 50%. NOT ONCE.
How much longer is the US going to tolerate the stupidity of the GOP?????? Why is Fauci so distrusted by the GOP??? Is it because he is actually a scientists and you believe all science is fake???????

A Kentucky lawmaker is facing backlash on Twitter after she posted a meme comparing Dr. Anthony Fauci to Jonestown leader Jim Jones.
Kentucky's House Education Committee Chairwoman Rep. Regina Huff tweeted the image Tuesday. Under Jones, the cult leader who led hundreds in a mass suicide in 1978, it reads: "I persuaded over 900 people to drink my Koolaid."
Under the picture of Fauci it reads: "Amateur."
"Some will cavil, they will not be able to help themselves," Huff, a republican, tweeted.
Louisville Courier Journal reporter education reporter Olivia Krauth took a screenshot of the tweet before Huff deleted it. Krauth then shared it on Twitter.
"Disgusting. This should be a fireable offense," one person commented.
"This person has no business charing the education committee," said another.
0linsky was easily the most "lyingest" president of all time. Followed by Bubba Clinton.
But the media throne sniffers and court jesters loved them and fawned over them, therefore their lies were always obscured.
Never forget that 0linsky was awarded the coveted 2013 LIE OF THE YEAR:
Lie of the Year: 'If you like your health care plan, you can keep it'

Bob Dole Says Trump Definitely Lost the Election
July 22, 2021 at 7:49 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-KS)
told USA Today that there’s no question that Donald Trump lost his reelection race in 2020.
Said Dole:
“He lost the election, and I regret that he did, but they did. He had Rudy Giuliani running all over the country, claiming fraud. He never had ONE BIT OF FRAUD in all those lawsuits he filed and statements he made."
He added: “I’m a Trumper. I’m sort of Trumped out, though.”
MOST OF OUR NATION IS TRUMPED OUT, BOB.
And where IS that Arizona "audit"?
it will go away in a few short days it will be down to near zero it is not a pendamic it is just sort of like the flu it swill be gone like magic you can either stay home a few days or just continue going to work sunlight can cure it or inject disinfectant
Trump told so many lies it was impossible to focus in on one before he had told another whopper.
He achieved pinocchios "on a daily basis."
Jim Crow on steroids.
President Joe Biden had strong words for people questioning the seriousness of the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
"I don't care if you think I'm Satan reincarnated. The fact is you can't look at that television and say nothing happened on the 6th and listen to people who say this was a peaceful march," said US President Biden on Wednesday at a CNN town hall in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Biden was responding to moderator Don Lemon's question on whether he had confidence Republicans and Democrats could work together, given that the two sides were having trouble bridging the bipartisan divide in investigating the Capitol insurrection, per AP.
A 13-member committee - including Democrats and Republicans - was mooted last month to investigate the attack on the US Capitol on January 6 that killed five people when Trump supporters stormed the building.
House Speaker Nancy rejected two Republicans appointed by House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy to be on the committee earlier on Wednesday, reported AP.
Pelosi questioned if the two nominees - Indiana Rep. Jim Banks and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan - would compromise the integrity of the probe. In the hours after the Capitol insurrection, the two voted to overturn election results. They are also vocal supporters of former US President Donald Trump.
"With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee," said Pelosi in a statement seen by AP.
In response, McCarthy threw down the gauntlet and said Republicans would not participate in the probe if Democrats did not accept the people he picked.
Biden also had strong words for GOP legislators pushing anti-voting rights legislation, calling it "Jim Crow on steroids."

Covid Is Not the Country’s Only Health Crisis
July 22, 2021 at 8:06 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
David Leonhardt:
“Covid-19 has caused the largest decline in U.S. life expectancy since World War II, the federal government reported yesterday. But Covid is not the only reason that life expectancy in this country fell last year to its lowest level in almost two decades.
“Even before the pandemic, the U.S. was mired in an alarming period of rising mortality.
"It had no modern precedent: During the second half of the 2010s, life expectancy fell on a sustained basis for the first time since the fighting of World War II killed several hundred thousand Americans.
“It’s hard to imagine a more alarming sign of a society’s well-being than an inability to keep its citizens alive.”
