A more polished version of Trump?

DeSantis has the Trump quality that many conservatives loved. He doesn't just play defense. He goes on the offense.

His point (in this situation) is well taken. We are taking in unvaccinated and sometimes even Covid positive migrants and literally bussing them into our towns and cities. Meanwhile, the actual citizens of the nation are being chastised for not being vaccinated or not wearing a mask or not following orders. The hypocrisy is staggering.

As pointed out, the media will not play along. You have to pretty much go search for DeSantis' response, but there may come a day when he will demand the same attention that Trump once did.

Initial jobless claims total 385,000, matching expectations
Initial claims for unemployment insurance edged lower last week, meeting Wall Street expectations, while longer-term unemployment signs showed improvement, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

First-time filings for benefits dipped to 385,000 for the week ended July 31, a decline of 14,000 from the previous week as the jobs market remains essentially in a holding pattern during the economic recovery. The total hit the Dow Jones estimate exactly.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis earned a new moniker this week as the resurgent coronavirus continued to wreak havoc on his state: the “Pied Piper of Covid-19, leading everybody off a cliff.”

The stark assessment of the Republican politician from Dan Gelber, the mayor of Miami Beach, came as Florida continued to set records for new cases and hospitalizations, saw worrying surges in both deaths and rates of positivity, and led the nation in pediatric Covid admissions.

With the highly contagious Delta variant swirling, a state comprising little more than 6% of the US population was accounting for one in five of the country’s new cases, recording 50,997 in the three days to Tuesday, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

And just for Biden's information the Covid infection rate in Mexico is 37 %. And the first thing they do with them is put them in cramped cages and then don't quarantine them.

Roger - in a couple of weeks the Florida surge will have passed and the new Delta variant will be surging in some other part of the country. This is the way Covid has worked since the beginning.

Now if this was the "first" time that people have singled out Florida and attacked DeSantis for his "poor Covid response" -- I might be sympathetic and understanding. But it's not. It's about the 5th or 6th time we have seen the Media and Democrats attempt to make Florida the poster child for dead Americans from Covid.

If one didn't know any better, you would swear that Florida must have the most deaths in the nation both in pure numbers and per capita based on all of the criticism.

Yet there are 27 Governors who are lagging behind in Vaccination numbers and there 25 Governors responsible for "more" deaths per 100,000 than DeSantis is. He is running better than the national average in both.

It's pure politics Roger. This has happened (surges in Florida) before. They seem to get hit early with these things and then they simply make their way around the country.

Your state had over 10,000 new cases yesterday and has been average about that for a week or so. Maybe you should worry about your own Governor (who of course will not get criticized by Biden if the numbers keep spiking)

He is the “Pied Piper of Covid-19, leading everybody off a cliff.”

In 1284, while the town of Hamelin was suffering from a rat infestation, a piper dressed in multicolored ("pied") clothing appeared, claiming to be a rat-catcher. He promised the mayor a solution to their problem with the rats. The mayor, in turn, promised to pay him for the removal of the rats (according to some versions of the story, the promised sum was 1,000 guilders). The piper accepted and played his pipe to lure the rats into the Weser River, where they all drowned.

Despite the piper's success, the mayor reneged on his promise and refused to pay him the full sum (reputedly reduced to a sum of 50 guilders) even going so far as to blame the piper for bringing the rats himself in an extortion attempt. Enraged, the piper stormed out of the town, vowing to return later to take revenge. On Saint John and Paul's day, while the adults were in church, the piper returned dressed in green like a hunter and playing his pipe. In so doing, he attracted the town's children. One hundred and thirty children followed him out of town and into a cave and were never seen again.

Blindly following orders.

Welcome back to supporting dictators who don't listen to scientists and medical experts.

The current Republican party is the Catholic Church before the reformation.

The parallels are undeniable.

The world of the late medieval Roman Catholic Church from which the 16th-century reformers emerged was a complex one. Over the centuries the church, particularly in the office of the papacy, had become deeply involved in the political life of western Europe. The resulting intrigues and political manipulations, combined with the church’s increasing power and wealth, contributed to the bankrupting of the church as a spiritual force. Abuses such as the sale of indulgences (or spiritual privileges) by the clergy and other charges of corruption undermined the church’s spiritual authority. These instances must be seen as exceptions, however, no matter how much they were played up by polemicists. For most people, the church continued to offer spiritual comfort. There is some evidence of anticlericalism, but the church at large enjoyed loyalty as it had before. One development is clear: the political authorities increasingly sought to curtail the public role of the church and thereby triggered tension.

The President is helping keep the country safe!

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration is taking the first steps toward requiring nearly all foreign visitors to the U.S. to be vaccinated for the coronavirus, a White House official said.

The requirement would come as part of the administration’s phased approach to easing travel restrictions for foreign citizens to the country. No timeline has yet been determined, as interagency working groups study how and when to safely move toward resuming normal travel. Eventually all foreign citizens entering the country, with some limited exceptions, are expected to need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the U.S.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity Wednesday to preview the policy under development.

The Biden administration has kept in place travel restrictions that have severely curtailed international trips to the U.S., citing the spread of the delta variant of the virus. Under the rules, non-U.S. residents who have been to China, the European Schengen area, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Brazil, South Africa and India in the prior 14 days are prohibited from entering the U.S.

All travelers to the U.S., regardless of vaccination status, are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of air travel to the country.

DeSantis To Biden: "If You're Trying To Lock People Down, I'm Standing In Your Way"

Posted By Tim Hains
On Date August 4, 2021

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis responded Wednesday to President Joe Biden urging GOP governors to "get out of the way" of increased state measures to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden shared his disapproval of Florida's response to the coronavirus pandemic during a speech Tuesday, lamenting that "just two states, Florida and Texas, account for one-third of all new COVID-19 cases in the entire country."

"I say to these governors: Please help. If you aren't going to help, at least get out of the way," Biden said.

"Joe Biden suggests that if you don't do lockdown policies, you should 'get out of the way.' Let me tell you this, if you're coming after the rights of parents in Florida, I'm standing in your way," DeSantis replied the next day. "If you're trying to deny kids a proper in-person education, I'm going to stand in your way."

"If you're trying to lock people down, I'm standing in your way."

"Why don't you do your job and get your border secure. And until you do that, I don't want to hear lip about COVID from you," the Florida governor said. "Joe Biden has taken to himself to try to single out Florida over COVID. This is a guy who ran for President saying he was going to 'shut down the virus.' And what has he done? He has imported more virus from around the world by having a wide-open Southern border."

"His solution is he wants to have the government force Kindergartners to wear masks in school," he said. "Well, I can tell you in Florida the parents are going to be the ones in charge of that decision."

How Florida will look like soon after they die because of no masking and immunization!

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The month before, Apley responded to what Baltimore’s former health commissioner was heralding as “great news” — clinical trials showed the Pfizer vaccine was effective at fighting the coronavirus, including one of the recent variants, for at least six months.

“You are an absolute enemy of a free people,” he wrote in a Twitter reply. Just like Scott said

And on Friday, the 45-year-old Dickinson City Council member republished a Facebook post implying that vaccines don’t work.

Two days later, Apley was admitted to a Galveston hospital with “pneumonia-like symptoms” and tested positive for coronavirus, according to an online fundraising campaign. He was sedated and put on a ventilator.

On Wednesday, he died at 43 yearsold, members of his county’s party announced on social media.

Patrick McGinnis, chairman of the Galveston County Republican Party, said in a statement that Apley’s death was a “tragedy … magnified by his youth, his young family especially his very young son.”

Scott doesn't care about that because he hates liberals.

Too often politicians put their interests ahead of the public interest.

But for some reason Thecoldheartedtruth has become a political agenda sponsor for Republicans, no matter how many lives are lost.

He is simply pointing out that as President, Joe Biden has responsibilities to get things done. One of which is to stop the border surge which is causing Covid issues across the country (which the country is part of his responsibility).

Which is not (as his oath of office would confirm) to spend all his time criticizing DeSantis.

Totally off topic but

Scott, you know about the ice age, the upper midwest region was covered with ice for decades.

Human-caused warming has led to an “almost complete loss of stability” in the system that drives Atlantic Ocean currents, a new study has found — raising the worrying prospect that this critical aquatic “conveyor belt” could be close to collapse.
In recent years, scientists have warned about a weakening of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), which transports warm, salty water from the tropics to northern Europe and then sends colder water back south along the ocean floor. Researchers who study ancient climate change have also uncovered evidence that the AMOC can turn off abruptly, causing wild temperature swings and other dramatic shifts in global weather systems.
[Sign up for the latest news about climate change, energy and the environment, delivered every Thursday]
Scientists haven’t directly observed the AMOC slowing down. But the new analysis, published Thursday in the journal Nature Climate Change, draws on more than a century of ocean temperature and salinity data to show significant changes in eight indirect measures of the circulation’s strength.
These indicators suggest that the AMOC is running out of steam, making it more susceptible to disruptions that might knock it out of equilibrium, says study author Niklas Boers, a researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Science in Germany.
If the circulation shuts down, it could bring extreme cold to Europe and parts of North America, raise sea levels along the U.S. East Coast and disrupt seasonal monsoons that provide water to much of the world.
“This is an increase in understanding … of how close to a tipping point the AMOC might already be,” said Levke Caesar, a climate physicist at Maynooth University who was not involved in the study.
Boers’s analysis doesn’t suggest exactly when the switch might happen. But “the mere possibility that the AMOC tipping point is close should be motivation enough for us to take countermeasures,” Caesar said. “The consequences of a collapse would likely be far-reaching.”
The AMOC is the product of a gigantic, ocean-wide balancing act. It starts in the tropics, where high temperatures not only warm up the seawater but increase its proportion of salt by boosting evaporation. This warm, salty water flows northeast from the U.S. coastline toward Europe — creating the current we know as the Gulf Stream.
But as the current gains latitude it cools, adding density to waters already laden with salt. By the time it hits Greenland it is dense enough to sink deep beneath the surface. It pushes other submerged water south toward Antarctica, where it mixes with other ocean currents as part of a global system known as the “thermohaline circulation.”
This circulation is at the heart of Earth’s climate system, playing a critical role in redistributing heat and regulating weather patterns around the world.

It runs from the Gulf of Mexico to Europe, and keeps the climate moderate .

A focused protection policy can help us cope with the risk. There is a thousand-fold difference in the mortality and hospitalization risk posed by virus to the old relative to the young. We now have good vaccines that have helped protect vulnerable people from the ravages of Covid wherever they have been deployed. Offering the vaccine to the vulnerable everywhere, not the failed lockdowns, should be the priority to save lives.

We live with countless hazards, each of which we could but sensibly choose not to eradicate. Automobile fatalities could be eradicated by outlawing motor vehicles. Drowning could be eradicated by outlawing swimming and bathing. Electrocution could be eradicated by outlawing electricity. We live with these risks not because we’re indifferent to suffering but because we understand that the costs of zero-drowning or zero-electrocution would be far too great. The same is true of zero-Covid.

The governor argued during a press conference in Panama City that Mr. Biden's immigration policies are responsible for the COVID surge, claiming, without any evidence, that undocumented immigrants are causing the virus to spread.

"Why don't you get this border secure, and until you do that, I don't want to hear a blip about COVID from you," DeSantis said of the president.

The rise of COVID of Florida is because of the highly-contagious delta variant, and because of permissive behavior, said CBS News medical contributor Dr. David Agus.

"With low vaccination rates and ... going out without masks and in large groups you're going to get significant spread of the virus, period," he said.

The surge in infections in the state includes children. As of Wednesday, 135 children under 18 in Florida were hospitalized with COVID, the highest it's ever been.

John Moreno Escobar, who is running for the Broward County School Board and whose son, Luca, will begin first grade this year, said, "the minimum we could do to protect all of the people who decided to get vaccinated or not is to put our mask on, even if we're vaccinated."

He believes it's up to parents to convince those who are hesitant.

"We are protecting others by putting the mask on," he said. "Putting a mask is protecting the life of someone else, and life is sacred and we should protect it all as a community."

And the best way to "give a shit about other's lives" is to openly and actively encourage an invasion of Covid-infected illegals.

Rather than shoot the invaders as we should, Slow Joe registers them as democrats.

What sort of "evidence" do you need, Roger.

They are allowing untested and even Covid positive migrants to enter the country?

Meanwhile you continue to FLAT OUT LIE about Florida... everytime you demand that their "lack of vaccinations" is why there is a surge in the southeast.

They do not have a "lack of vaccinations" - they are ahead of the curve.

But this is the new favorite trick or the left.

They tell lies...

Then demand that the "truth" is being offered without evidence.

Keep in mind, that saying he provided "no evidence" does not actually suggest what he is saying is untrue. Just that he stated something without also providing the evidence. But in this case the evidence is self evident.

But the underlying criticism from DeSantis.

is indisputable.

Joe Biden refuses to do a damned thing about much of anything.

He certainly offers no plan regarding Covid other than repeating that people should get vaccinated. As if you need to be elected President to share that opinion. That opinion doesn't help.

All he does it blame everyone else and chastise those he disagrees with.

Not any sort of "inclusive" President who can bring the country together.

Which of course was how he was sold to the public.

Just a grumpy dirty old man who when he can remember his own point is generally just a partisan attack on whichever random Republican he hates the most today.

By any standard, Governor Ron DeSantis has been a total rock star in his response to the Wuhan virus. He is the anti-Asa-Hutchinson (see Asa Hutchinson Folds Like a Cheap Suit to Preserve His ‘Reasonable Conservative’ Credentials). Like just about everyone, he initially went along with the bullsh** put out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But, as more information became available and it became obvious that morons were giving us direction, DeSantis went his own way. He reopened Florida and stopped the ability of fascist Democrat mayors to demand that citizens tattoo 666 on their forehead wear face masks as the price for moving around outside.

DeSantis focused like a laser on Florida's most vulnerable - senior citizens - and used every measure at his disposal to protect them.

Cuomo by contrast slaughtered 16,000 seniors to protect a big campaign donor.

According to the alky DeSantis is the bad guy here.

Texas Republican Party Chairman Matt Rinaldi said in a statement Wednesday that the state party was “incredibly saddened” by Apley's death.

“Please join me in lifting the Apley family up in prayer,” he said. “We will miss Scott deeply but find comfort knowing he is at peace in the arms of our Savior.”

Apley's death comes as both Democratic and Republican elected officials are ramping up calls for Americans to get vaccinated as the highly transmissible delta variant spreads across the U.S., particularly among individuals who are unvaccinated.

According to estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released Wednesday, the delta variant now accounts for about 93 percent of infections in the U.S.

Federal lawsuit claims VAERS reporting system is HIDING actual number of coronavirus vaccine deaths

A federal lawsuit claimed that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is undercounting the actual numbers of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine fatalities. The motion was filed July 19 by America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS) in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. It claimed that the number of vaccine fatalities is actually higher than what is reported in the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and subsequently revealed to the public.

The AFLDS affixed a sworn statement by a whistleblower — a computer programmer who developed more than 100 distinct healthcare fraud algorithms — to their motion. According to the whistleblower, deaths occurring within 72 hours of vaccination are underreported by a conservative factor of at least five. Reported deaths in VAERS as of July 9 totaled 10,991, 4,593 of which occurred within 72 hours of vaccination.

In her statement, the whistleblower said: “On July 9, 2021, there were 9,048 deaths reported in VAERS. I verified these numbers by collating all of the data from VAERS myself, not relying on a third party to report them. In tandem, I queried data from [Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Systems] medical claims with regard to vaccines and patients deaths.”

Based on her analysis of the data she gathered, the whistleblower said that the true number of vaccine-related deaths as of July 9 is close to 45,000. This total is considerably higher than what was reported in VAERS.

“Put in perspective, the swine flu vaccine was taken off the market which only resulted in 53 deaths,” she noted.

Not endorsing but having around 10,000 undisputed vaccine deaths as of a month ago sure does not get reported by the state media.

I wonder what their last words were ?

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — It didn’t take much for the White House to set Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis off. As coronavirus cases rise across the Sun Belt, President Joe Biden asked GOP governors to “get out of the way” of efforts to contain the virus.

DeSantis fired back that he did not want to “hear a blip about COVID from you, thank you,” adding, “Why don’t you do your job?”

The exchange was unusually direct and bitter, particularly for politicians dealing with a crisis that is killing Americans in rising numbers. But it was a sign that the now-familiar cudgels of virus politics — debates pitting “freedoms” against masks and restrictions — remain potent weapons. And DeSantis, in particular, appears eager to carry that fight into next year’s midterms election, and beyond.

“He has become, I would argue, the leading voice of opposition to the Biden administration,” said Rob Bradley, a Republican who recently left the Florida Senate because of term limits. “It’s not a surprise to see Biden and DeSantis going at it.”

The strategy comes with risks. DeSantis is up for reelection next year and is frequently mentioned as a 2024 presidential contender. His national profile has risen in large part because he spent the early part of the pandemic pushing a message that prioritized his state’s economy over sweeping restrictions to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

But his state is now an epicenter of the latest surge. Florida has repeatedly broken records for hospitalized patients this week, and it and Texas accounted for a third of all new cases nationwide last week, according to the White House.

DeSantis has responded by banning mask mandates in schools and arguing that vaccines are the best way to fight the virus while new restrictions amount to impediments on liberty.

“Florida is a free state, and we will empower our people,” DeSantis said in a fundraising email keying off his hitting back at the president. “We will not allow Joe Biden and his bureaucratic flunkies to come in and commandeer the rights and freedoms of Floridians.”

Biden’s willingness to call out the Republican governor of Florida — as well as his colleagues in other hot spots like Texas — marks a new confrontational turn for him as well. For months, the White House has tried to minimize the perception of distance between the president and governors in hopes of depoliticizing the vaccination process.

It had sought to prevent a nationwide panic over the spread of the delta variant and to make good on the promise that the nation was ready to move past the pandemic. But with new cases averaging more than 70,000 a day — above the peak last summer before vaccines were available — the messaging has shifted.

The White House is now casting what’s occurring as a more localized concern primarily affecting areas of the country that have lagging vaccination rates and that have not followed federal guidance recommending face masks in areas with high case rates. But the hardest-hit areas tend to be run by Republicans like DeSantis.

Biden is proving more reticent than DeSantis to continue the feud. When asked Thursday about DeSantis’ response to his comments, Biden simply asked, “Governor who?” and grinned.

Still, that didn’t stop White House press secretary Jen Psaki from turning up the administration’s criticism, saying it was a “fact” that DeSantis “has taken steps that are counter to public health recommendations.”

“Frankly, this is too serious, deadly serious, to be doing partisan name calling,” Psaki said.

A MORE POLISHED VERSION OF TRUMP

Is Ron DeSantis Governing or Campaigning?
August 6, 2021 at 7:13 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Miami Herald:
“Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has a stable of taxpayer-paid staff that works to arrange logistics, security and messaging for his events, and just in the last month that has included: A mission to the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, a prime-time Fox News Town Hall on Cuban relations, and a closed-door discussion on mask wearing that his ‘official’ political team used in a fundraising email.

“For DeSantis, who has not officially announced his reelection bid, the official events highlight the fine line he walks between governing and campaigning. His official state business is increasingly being promoted and used for fundraisers by his independent political action committee, taking advantage of narrow state laws that separate coordination between campaigns and outside groups.”

Walks like Trump, talks like Trump, cheats like Trump.

Bidennomics is working!

Hiring rose in July despite fears over Covid-19′s delta variant and as companies struggled with a tight labor supply, the Labor Department reported Friday.

Nonfarm payrolls increased by 943,000 for the month while the unemployment rate dropped to 5.4%, according to the department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for 845,000 new jobs and a headline jobless rate of 5.7%.
