The link will follow. This is the most detailed article I've read yet but getting out of a war we lost is always ugly.
In the Situation Room, Austin was now recommending that Biden send in troops to evacuate the embassy and protect the main international airport in Kabul. Sullivan asked each Cabinet member in the meeting to weigh in. They unanimously agreed.
That was the “oh, shit” moment, said the U.S. official. It was now officially a crisis.
Sullivan walked into the Oval Office just before 10 a.m. to report to the president. Biden picked up the phone and told Austin to send in the prepositioned troops.
Across Washington, Congress was also growing increasingly alarmed by the deteriorating situation. In some cases, lawmakers took it upon themselves to learn more about what was happening, absent guidance from the Biden administration.
A day earlier, as the Senate shifted to an hours-long, overnight series of votes on a top domestic agenda item for Biden, senators spearheading the effort were pulled out of meetings and off of the Senate floor where they were briefed on disturbing reports coming out of Afghanistan. Some of those terrifying stories and images began to emerge in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, when senators remained on the floor past 4 a.m.
Chris Murphy
Senator from Connecticut
One of the few lawmakers actively talking about the Afghanistan developments at the time was Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut, a longtime advocate for withdrawing U.S. troops. He had taken to the Senate floor on Tuesday to pre-emptively defend Biden and assert that the Taliban’s surge was in fact a reason to stay the course with the pullout.
“The complete, utter failure of the Afghan National Army, absent our hand-holding, to defend their country is a blistering indictment of a failed 20-year strategy predicated on the belief that billions of U.S taxpayer dollars could create an effective, democratic central government in a nation that has never had one,” Murphy said.
Lawmakers began discussing the Taliban’s gains among themselves on the Senate floor late into Wednesday, but neither party allowed it to overshadow their economic policy efforts.
Michael Waltz
Representative from Florida
Ashraf Ghani
Former President of Afghanistan
Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.), the first Green Beret to serve in Congress and one of the earliest and loudest voices pushing for evacuations of Afghan allies, was in constant communication with officials tied to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who would soon flee the country. Even as the Taliban were taking huge swaths of territory by Wednesday, Waltz said Afghan forces believed “they could turn it around” as long as the U.S. kept providing air support.
That support wasn’t enough as the Afghan military laid down their arms en masse. In an interview, Waltz described the tepid air support as “putting a band-aid on a sucking chest wound.”
Making Funnies during a horrible time in our lives, is not amusing.
Mr. Biden made a decent start at such truth-telling during his speech this week. But he should give a fuller explanation of why his administration failed to prepare for a Taliban victory that, according to years of intelligence reports, was quite likely.
Second, keep the coalition that elected you united in its response to the crisis. Though Johnson had a reputation as a masterful politician, he became despised by millions of his fellow Democrats because of his Vietnam policy. If Democrats in Congress follow through on their vows to carry out extensive hearings into the collapse of the Afghan government, they could provoke a similar intraparty battle.
But the president may be able to stave off that kind of public bickering. If he chooses to declassify whatever vital documents exist, in an attempt to convince his Democratic critics that he is serious about revealing why his exit strategy went wrong, it may dissuade them from engaging in their own lengthy investigation.
The defeat in Afghanistan, like the one in Vietnam, was a long time coming. Democrats can take steps to prevent such interventions. But if they repeat the errors of their predecessors in the 1960s, they may secure the triumph of an opposition party whose leaders have not stopped lying about the election that drove them from power.
Ignoring science has cost a Tea Party asshole his life.
Pressley Stutts, a local Republican leader in South Carolina who fought COVID-19 vaccination efforts, died on Thursday of the coronavirus after a weeks-long battle, including six days spent on a ventilator, The Greenville News reported.
Stutts, a 64-year-old veteran, frequently shared conspiracy theories about the virus, the vaccine and the 2020 election on Facebook, including in posts made from his ICU bed.
Stutts served as an executive committeeman of the Greenville County Republican Party and the leader of the Greenville Tea Party. He protested Vice President Kamala Harris when she visited the area in June to promote vaccination and called the effort an “ungodly initiative.”
The Republicans have become a conspiracy theorist, anti science party.
They worship Pope Donald Trump.
In effect they are trying to reverse the reformation movement in Europe.
Taliban Humiliates Joe Biden Again With Symbolic Troop Removal Demand
Joe Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal has empowered the Taliban so much, that they’re now ordering him around like they run the show.
In an interview with Sky News, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen said that Joe Biden should withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September 11—the twentieth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
“I think they should get their troops out of Afghanistan,” Shaheen said. “They have already violated the time frame which was enshrined in the Doha agreement, when they announced that they will withdraw all their forces until Sept. 11. So they should withdraw all their forces.”
Shaheen was referencing the peace deal negotiated by President Trump, under which U.S. troops would leave Afghanistan as long as the Taliban met various conditions. In the wake of Afghanistan’s fall to the Taliban, Joe Biden hastily evacuated our military leaving American civilians behind. Biden has now tripled our military presence in the country in a chaotic attempt to remove refugees and American citizens. Mike Pence blamed Joe Biden for violating that agreement and causing the disastrous withdrawal.
“Once Mr. Biden broke the deal, the Taliban launched a major offensive against the Afghan government and seized Kabul. They knew there was no credible threat of force under this president. They’ve seen him kowtow to anti-Semitic terrorist groups like Hamas, restore millions of dollars in aid to the Palestinian Authority, and sit by earlier this year while thousands of rockets rained down on Israeli civilians,” Pence wrote.
The next time you hear the kook Dr. Rand Paul trying to argue with a real Scientist like Dr. Fauci, always remember in every class, somebody had to finish at the bottom.
Dr. Paul could not pass the board certification to practice ophthalmology, so he sets up his own National Board of Ophthalmology and certified himself. Yes, it is his board with one member-himself. He opened his own clinic.
Dr. Fauci’s awards in infectious diseases are so vast, even Sir Elton John awarded him for his advancement in the research of HIV/AIDS related diseases.
Dr. Rand Paul has Marjorie Taylor Green singing his praises. What a team.
Ex-Official: Trump Knew Afghan Army Would Surrender, Made Deal Anyway
Former Natl. Sec. Dir. John Ratcliffe said that Trump knew that the Afghan military would fall to the Taliban within 48 hours but negotiated a deal to pull U.S. troops out of the country anyway.
By rrb's nightmare
Former National Security Director John Ratcliffe on Thursday revealed that former President Donald Trump knew that the Afghan military would fall to the Taliban within 48 hours but negotiated a deal to pull U.S. troops out of the country anyway.
Ratcliffe made the remarks during an appearance on Fox News.
"We had that intelligence when I was DNI," he explained. "All of the discussions including with some of the same military leaders that are still there was if we don't follow these conditions and the Afghan forces are left on their own, how long will this last and the consensus with everyone in the room was not very long."
"And I remember President Trump saying, 'I don't think they'll last two days,'" he added. "And that's why those conditions that [Fox News host Bill Hemmer] mentioned are so important."
Under the original conditions that the Trump administration negotiated with the Taliban, U.S. forces would have withdrawn from Afghanistan in May. President Joe Biden extended that exit until August. Because he listens to others and reads the daily intelligence briefings!
Roger Amick said... Dr. Fauci’s awards in infectious diseases are so vast, even Sir Elton John awarded him
This is supposed to be a good thing ?
Where is Fauci's science for a 3rd shot ?
What gold standard testing is behind all his and the CDC's recent policy moves (there isn't) which he initially claimed was required for good "science"
Why is Fauci and the FDA ignoring drugs like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin which correlate with India's dramatic turnaround on Covid
Or Sweden's hands-off policy which follows historical science
And the list goes on
But most importantly why did Fauci lie about his involvement with the Wuhan lab gain-of-function research under oath to Dr. Paul ?
And he should preface every appearance with his financial ties to Big Pharma companies who benefit from his recommendations
Fauci should be fired and an independent scientist brought in
“White House officials believe they have most Americans out of Afghanistan already. There were 11,000 Americans registered with the U.S. embassy in Kabul before the Ghani government collapsed.”
“But the administration believes that some may have left the country before the Taliban takeover without telling the embassy. Furthermore, other American passport holders may stay; indeed, some Americans were there the last time the Taliban controlled the country from 1996 to 2001. The Biden administration believes that the vast majority of the remaining evacuees will be Afghans.”
Biden is expected to address the situation in public remarks at 1 p.m. ET.
"We had that intelligence when I was DNI," he explained. "All of the discussions including with some of the same military leaders that are still there was if we don't follow these conditions and the Afghan forces are left on their own, how long will this last and the consensus with everyone in the room was not very long."
"And I remember President Trump saying, 'I don't think they'll last two days'
So why didn't Biden listen to his intelligence agencies and his military ?
Trump obviously figured it out
And would not have created the apparently intentional crisis Biden did
Overall, the American withdrawal and the Taliban takeover mark the final chapter of a war with a mixed legacy among the American public. The war started with a public mandate: In the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, upward of 90 percent of the public thought the U.S. was right to intervene in Afghanistan, according to Gallup. But the share who felt the war was a mistake steadily increased over the next decade. And now, per YouGov/The Economist, 38 percent of Americans thought the U.S. made a mistake deploying troops to fight in Afghanistan, and only 28 percent did not think it was a mistake (although a relatively high 34 percent weren’t sure). An Aug. 12-16 survey from the Associated Press/NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also reported that Americans now feel the war in Afghanistan was not worth fighting, 62 percent to 35 percent — making it essentially as unpopular as the war in Iraq. And a separate YouGov poll from Aug. 17 found that only 6 percent of Americans felt that the U.S. won the war in Afghanistan; 38 percent felt that we had lost it, while 39 percent thought we had neither won nor lost.
Perhaps most damningly, Americans were deeply ambivalent about whether the war had accomplished any good for the Afghan people. Per YouGov, 26 percent of Americans thought it made life better for Afghans, 23 percent thought it made life worse and 27 percent thought it didn’t make life either better or worse. Twenty-four percent didn’t know.
Call Afghanistan what it is: The worst hostage crisis in American history
On Nov. 4, 1979, militants seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking more than 60 American hostages. It was hell for the captured Americans, and Jimmy Carter’s inability to extricate them helped doom him to a one-term presidency.
The way things are shaping up in Kabul, that national humiliation is being recreated on a far, far bigger scale — it is no hyperbole to say that it is starting to look like America’s worst hostage crisis.
At this stage, we are all just guessing about how many Americans remain at risk in Afghanistan. And that’s the problem. Even the U.S. government doesn’t know how many people have to be evacuated from Afghanistan or how, exactly, that can be done.
In rushing the withdrawal of U.S. troops, Biden, in stunning dereliction of duty, didn’t pause to ask about that. The only explanation I can think of is that he assumed, since he was gifting Afghanistan to the Taliban, they would let him make a graceful exit.
He made another assumption as well: that Americans no longer cared what happened in Afghanistan.
Wrong on both counts.
Biden continues to insist that the decisions he made that precipitated this debacle were correct, although he admits things are a bit “messy.”
Roger Amick said... The intelligence agencies knew already.
If Trump had withdrawn from Afghanistan ,the Taliban militants would have done the same thing.
Donald J Trump @realdonaldtrump
First you bring out all of the American citizens. Then you bring out ALL equipment. Then you bomb the bases into smithereens—AND THEN YOU BRING OUT THE MILITARY. You don’t do it in reverse order like Biden and our woke Generals did.
No chaos, no death—they wouldn’t even know we left!
and obviously you confer with our allies and NATO
Biden did none of that

and helped China, Iran and the Taliban
and then went on vacation, though he's trying to cover that up now

The General Who Recommended Abandoning Bagram Air Base Has Already Left Afghanistan. It was General Austin “Scottie” Miller. “It’s tempting to call for Miller’s firing now, but there’s a problem with that. He already left.”
He can still be fired. Or court-martialed. Or held up to public disgrace.

None of this will transpire, of course. Our society is run by a technocratic-managerial class that never pays a price for failure. Democracy is a glossy finish over an unelected administrative state that isn’t really accountable to anyone and measures success or failure in terms of budgets, p.r. and power, not results.
The excuse for this is that the experts at the top are good at what they do, and ordinary Americans would make a hash of things if they had too much say. That excuse, however, has now been decisively buried in Afghanistan’s harsh soil.

Democracy is a glossy finish over an unelected administrative state that isn’t really accountable to anyone and measures success or failure in terms of budgets, p.r. and power, not results.
There was two times when a president ignore his technocratic-managerial class with positive results in domestic and foreign policy.
The pattern is clear for those who wish to see. Simply put, the left thinks America is not only evil, but irredeemably so. Hence, any policy, be it foreign or domestic, that weakens our nation-state should be pursued, the goal being that the nation-state will eventually corrode to the point of collapse. They don't care that the hollowed-out dystopia will be long past its desirability for subjugation, so long as they get to be in charge. As Lord Varys said of Littlefinger, "He would see this country burn if he could be king of the ashes" . . .
. . . What started with Woodrow Wilson finally came into full force and in open view under Obama. Every time he could, Obama favored strict Islamist regimes over Western-friendly governments. Whenever overseas pro-democracy demonstrators flew American flags, Obama reflexively sided with their oppressors. He removed sanctions from Cuba and Iran and asked for nothing in return. The JCPOA, the Paris Accords, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership were specifically designed to weaken American power behind the flimsy guise of noble causes.
What would strike the neutral observer as unabashed idiocy comes across as cold, deliberate Machiavellianism to anyone reading between the lines of Obama's head swivel speeches. Obama is a mechanical Leftist, harboring the paint-by-number faculty lounge dictums of America as a negative historical force. Hence, almost every action he took was to weaken that force. Through this lens, one can see the pattern clearly, and his actions make perfect sense. . .
. . . Biden can't be pro-American or anti-American or anything in between because he lacks the capacity to formulate a value system necessary to organize and prioritize such concepts.
Fucking lyings of rat........Roger reported and was turned down.....sorry asshole......what did you serve in.....a flunked out college Ag major????????? BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQA!!!!

GOP Governors Have Betrayed the Public Trust August 20, 2021 at 7:34 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Michael Garson: “The challenge for the governors is that public health is not the same as other issues. Their actions will lead, directly and predictably, to deaths in their states. This constitutes a betrayal of public trust so grave — a violation of moral responsibilities so depraved — that I am not sure there is a word for it. Selling the lives of your fellow citizens to a foreign power is treason. What is the proper description of selling the lives of your fellow citizens to a crazed political interest group?
“The problem for the Republican Party is that one of the central demands of a key interest group is now an act of sociopathic insanity. Some of the most basic measures of public health have suddenly become the political equivalent of gun confiscation.”

AFGHANISTAN: The final days of the U.S. presence in Afghanistan are filled with riveting anecdotes of confusion, frustration and Catch-22 governmental chaos at Kabul’s airport and outside its security perimeter. There are an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 Americans who want to evacuate. Ideally, the Pentagon says it could fly out 5,000 people per day. The exodus has been more like 2,000-3,000 people per day — Americans and Afghan families, combined, according to officials. A total of 9,000 people of all nationalities have fled Kabul aboard U.S. flights since Saturday, according to the Pentagon.
Biden will speak this afternoon about the urgent evacuation process for Americans and Afghans at the increasingly tense airport. The president previously vowed to have all U.S. forces out of the country by Tuesday. The exodus of thousands of people who want to flee under the U.S. flag is unlikely to be complete by then.
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told NBC News in an interview broadcast on Thursday that getting all Americans out of Afghanistan who want to leave is “a risky operation,” explaining: “We right now have established contact with the Taliban to allow for the safe passage of people to the airport and that is working at the moment to get Americans and Afghans at risk to the airport. That being said, we can't count on anything.”
More than 80,000 Afghans might conceivably qualify for evacuation based on their work with the U.S. military and government over the years. If they survive.
The United States has so far only extricated a fraction of those people. Some Afghans have enlisted the help of U.S. military leaders or journalists they once served, working in desperation to make every high-level contact possible to break through red tape, clear the Taliban checkpoints and navigate huge crowds in order to flee on an outbound C-17 (video outside the airport taken on Wednesday is HERE).
Hiding in towns and villages, former Afghans who worked for the United States describe Taliban fighters going door-to-door this week, demanding to see identity papers and hunting for countrymen who helped the coalition. Those Afghans say they are certain they and their families will be tortured or killed when found.
In the skies over Kabul, armed U.S. fighter planes are flying “overwatch,” more as a deterrent than on offense, according to the Pentagon (The New York Times).

To Save His Presidency, Biden Must Tell the Truth About Afghanistan https://nyti.ms/2Xx3oK8

Hey dumb fuck, Paul was also certified by the ABO, American Board of Ophthalmologists in 2005.
How can you be so damn dumb so often?
The Taliban militants are going door to door to shoot and kill Mooslimb potential immigrants!
The Trump deal had requirements for the Taliban to achieve for anything to continue. Biden flushed it all and fucked up everything.

Fauci should be fired and an independent scientist brought in
Sleepy Joe Biden knew much more than we knew.

It’s about to get messier.

Fire the military and intelligence bigs who bungled Afghanistan — now
None of this will transpire, of course.

BWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! What does trump get for desertion of his duty to serve with his BULLSHIT bone spur note daddy bought?????

GOP Governors Have Betrayed the Public Trust

Michael Garson:
“The challenge for the governors is that public health is not the same as other issues.
“It’s as if the activist wing of the GOP decided that municipal trash pickup is a dangerous socialist experiment. Or chlorine in public pools is an antifa plot. There can be no absolute political right to undermine the health and safety of your community. Or else community has no meaning.”
And how.

Biden armed the Taliban and is charging stranded Americans $2000 if they somehow manage to get on a plane alive.
Funneling that $$$$$ directly to the DNC.

Damn. So close. So close to being able to take credit for something just for being in the same room as the drooling moron.

"The fact that the Taliban is using US-based servers to run its terror state and nobody in the Biden Administration has thought to disconnect it, even as U.S. forces flee in disarray, is a strategic blunder on par with Pearl Harbor."

Good to know we'll be able to receive regular updates from the new Taliban government on Twitter, but to get updates from Donald Trump you'll have to go elsewhere
The United States' disastrous evacuation continues today; U.S. social media companies continue to provide full services to our enemies

With so many TOP MEN from the SMART SET Ivy League and Military Academies involved, you'd be inclined to believe that this entire clusterfuck is intentional.

Biden — not talking about Afghanistan — aggressively attacking GOP governors on school mask mandates. He says it’s about SCIENCE & safety. The EU’s CDC & UK do NOT recommend masks for kids under 12 in classrooms, based on data. Are they anti-science too? Are they against safety?

Biden’s had harsher words for Ron DeSantis than he’s had for the Taliban. Why is attacking conservatives more important to this White House than defeating our enemies?

—A group of Florida’s kindergartners has offered to explain the science underpinning the use of masks to the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis.
Calling DeSantis’s objection to mask mandates “clearly an example of ignorance on his part,” one of the kindergartners, Jayson Dorrinson, said that his fellow five-year-olds were willing to talk to the Governor at his earliest convenience.

“The benefit of wearing masks is so clear, it’s obvious to us that no one has explained this issue properly to Mr. DeSantis,” the kindergartner said. “We’re happy to play that role.”
Dorrinson said that he was “not concerned” that being told the facts about masks might enrage DeSantis, who has been on a short fuse in recent weeks.
“We sincerely hope that he doesn’t get mad,” the five-year-old said. “But, if he does, we’ll just give him a timeout.”
