I think what we have left here are the ultimate partisan crazies who wouldn't admit Joe Biden did anything wrong even if he was caught on video shooting heroin and having a threesome with an underage boy and a farm animal. There are some who will just try desperately to spin "everything" no matter what.
But this is different. Most everyone understands that at some point their own credibility comes into play when they attempt to defend something that is undefendable. From start to finish, this has been undefendable. From the manner in which it was brought forth, to the matter in which it has been handled in real time, to the manner in which the President was vacationing and only came back to give a short press conference where he answered no questions. It's all been undefendable.
It might be different if there were not other issues. But the border is in chaos (and Biden seems disinterested). Inflation concerns are blowing up and the President is offering that spending a few trillion more will help. Much of the country is in revolt over CRT and other liberal dogma being implemented into society. Covid is coming back with a vengeance and the President and team appear completely flat footed.
So far, this has been an Administration that has been 99.99% reactive and about 0.001 proactive. They simply do not seem to have any coherent plan (other than to spend trillions of dollars and put us in massive debt) and seem absolutely befuddled everytime there is a problem that need to be solved.
Now, even the media is seeming to notice. Biden is incompetent.

Wisconsin state Sen. Andre Jacque (R),
one of the state legislature’s most active lawmakers who has opposed mask and vaccine mandates, is in the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
“Jacque has been one of most outspoken lawmakers against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and has authored legislation that would bar government officials or business owners from requiring Wisconsinites be vaccinated against COVID-19 or show proof of vaccination to access services. Jacque also opposed the statewide mask mandate.”
Happy hospitalization!

KABUL, Aug 17 (Reuters) - U.S. military flights evacuating diplomats and civilians from Afghanistan restarted on Tuesday after the runway at Kabul airport was cleared of thousands desperate to flee following the Taliban's sudden takeover of the capital.
The number of civilians had thinned out, a Western security official at the airport told Reuters, a day after chaotic scenes in which U.S. troops fired to disperse crowds and people clung to a U.S. military transport plane as it taxied for take-off. read more
"Runway in Kabul international airport is open. I see airplanes landing and taking off," Stefano Pontecorvo, NATO's civilian representative, said on Twitter.
At least 12 military flights had taken off, a diplomat at the airport said. Planes were due to arrive from countries including Australia and Poland to pick up their nationals and Afghan colleagues.
As they rush to evacuate civilians, foreign powers are also assessing how to respond to the new rulers in Kabul and also how to deal with refugees trying to flee the country.
Former U.S. President George W. Bush, who launched a "war on terror" in Afghanistan following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said the United States must move quickly to help Afghan refugees.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the country was in talks with all parties in Afghanistan, including the Taliban, and was positive on their statements since they took control.
Under a U.S. troops withdrawal pact struck last year, the Taliban agreed not to attack foreign forces as they leave.
U.S. forces took charge of the airport - their only way to fly out of Afghanistan - on Sunday, as the militants wound up a week of rapid advances by taking over Kabul without a fight, 20 years after they were ousted by a U.S.-led invasion.
Flights were suspended for much of Monday, when at least five people were killed, witnesses said. Media reported two people fell to their deaths from the underside of a U.S. military aircraft after it took off.
U.S. troops killed two gunmen who appeared to have fired into the crowd at the airport, a U.S. official said. read more
U.S. President Joe Biden defended his decision to withdraw U.S. forces after 20 years of war - the nation's longest - which he described as costing more than $1 trillion.
But a video of hundreds of desperate Afghans trying to clamber on to a U.S. military plane as it was about to take off could haunt the United States, just as a photograph in 1975 of people trying to get on a helicopter on a roof in Saigon became emblematic of the humiliating withdrawal from Vietnam.
Historically speaking it's very disappointing.
You defeat your own purpose in this article, Ch, for you are making it clear that reasonable journalists do not follow a party line.
To suggest that journalists do not follow party line is naive and silly.
But there are some behavior so intolerable and some politicians so incompetent that even the most liberal of journalists will criticize them. To not do so, is to make themselves look really stupid.
You know, how you look trying to defend this.
These Journalists are not willing to look as stupid as you do defending this, so they won't. The question is whether or not they will eventually turn completely on Joe Biden (as they recently did with Cuomo) or if they just decide to criticize certain decisions.
All I can say is that once it has started, you many never get that genie back in the bottle again. There may be more and more honest journalism as it pertains to the President. That, Reverend... is a death blow! Without fake news running cover for him, Biden is as good as dead in the water.

The Department of Defense plans to evacuate 22,000 Afghans with special immigrant visas showing they worked for the U.S. government, as well as their relatives and others considered at risk, according to spokesman Lt. Col. Chris Mitchell. The Pentagon also plans to transport up to 30,000 additional people — including U.S. Embassy personnel, citizens and visa applicants — out of Kabul, Mitchell said.
But the pace of evacuations has been slow. At a Monday briefing, Pentagon officials said they had relocated about 2,000 Afghans to the U.S., mostly to Ft. Lee, Va. They were assessing temporary sites for 22,000 more at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and Ft. McCoy, Wis.
Several human-rights and migrant-advocacy groups on Monday called on the Biden administration to do more to help those trying to leave Afghanistan.
“The incredibly urgent work of protecting people from reprisals and persecution must include evacuation and resettlement of civilians who need it, including human-rights defenders, women’s rights activists, members of the media, special immigrant visa candidates and other vulnerable people,” said Omar Jadwat, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants’ Rights Project.
Shinwari said the U.S. government needs to expedite special immigrant visas and loosen document requirements, since Afghan government offices that issued them are now closed.
“They need to come up with an alternate solution,” he said.
Shinwari worries about his two older sisters in Jalalabad, one of whom taught at a middle school that has been closed since the Taliban seized control over the weekend.
“I just spoke to one of my sisters this morning. The Taliban told them not to get out of their homes for two days and two nights,” he said. “Everybody is facing a dark future.”
Seema Farhad has been fielding calls from some of the more than 600 families she helped resettle in the Fremont, Calif., area known as Little Kabul, working with the local Afghan Coalition.
“People in Kabul are terrified. Families are doing everything they can to leave Afghanistan, because they do not know what is to come. They’re willing to risk their lives to leave,” she said.
Farhad was trying to help a woman whose brother-in-law worked for a U.S. company in Afghanistan and needed the firm to sponsor his visa.
“Now there’s no rep from that company to help him get out,” she said.
Most of the families Farhad assists have 80% to 90% of their relatives in Afghanistan. She found programs to help evacuate those with approved or pending U.S. visas, but for the rest, she said, “there’s nothing yet."

No we don't. We need to make sure every American citizen is airlifted out of there FIRST.
Then, and only then do we worry about how to get Afghans with SIV's out of there.
IMO unless we wanted to colonize Afghanistan, we couldn't stop this to happen.
With the Taliban's declaration of victory in Afghanistan, Afghan women and girls face an uncertain future and stand to lose hard-won rights to education, employment and everyday freedoms.
Why it matters: Afghan women and girls described fear and a forced end to their lifelong ambitions.
“I am so worried about my future. It seems so murky," Wahida Sadeqi, a high school student in Kabul, told the New York Times ahead of the Taliban victory. "If the Taliban take over, I lose my identity.”"[I] can no longer listen to my favourite songs, I can no longer meet my friends in our favourite cafe...And I can no longer go to my job or finish the university degree that I worked for years to achieve," a university student in Kabul wrote in the Guardian.
The big picture: According to Fawzia Koofi, an Afghan lawmaker and activist, Afghan women constitute the country's most at-risk population and the U.S. withdrawal from the country left many feeling betrayed.
Annie Pforzheimer, deputy chief of mission at the embassy in Kabul from 2017-18, told Axios' Dave Lawler that the Taliban will now reimpose restrictions on women and that there "should be absolutely no illusion that they have changed.”Pforzheimer said these restrictions could mean that girls 15 years old and over could be married off to Taliban fighters, or that they won't be allowed to attend school past the age of 12, if at all."If they were attending university, such as in Herat, they have already been told not to return to classes. They have been told not to go to work," Pforzheimer said. Many working women will be forced out of their jobs, she added. "Afghanistan will no longer have women businesspeople, judges or other representatives.”
We are not an empire state.
Eventually this would have happened anyhow.
We are already getting Americans out of Afghanistan.
The armed forces are in control of military and civilian airports.
Biden is as good as dead in the water, said Ch, ignoring how much responsibility is borne by so many for the present debacle.
Biden's honesty in his speech yesterday will be respected by the America electorate. He admitted that the speed of the Taliban takeover surprised him and many of his advisers, but still thinks it necessary that we pull our troops from this twenty year war.

And no, I do not defend everything Biden does.
So much going on
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The Taliban declared an “amnesty” across Afghanistan and urged women to join their government Tuesday, seeking to convince a wary population that they have changed a day after deadly chaos gripped the main airport as desperate crowds tried to flee their rule.
Following a blitz across Afghanistan that saw many cities fall to the insurgents without a fight, the Taliban have sought to portray themselves as more moderate than when they imposed a brutal rule in the late 1990s. But many Afghans remain skeptical.
Older generations remember the Taliban’s ultraconservative Islamic views, which included severe restrictions on women as well as public stonings and amputations before they were ousted by the U.S-led invasion following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
The capital of Kabul remained quiet for another day as the Taliban patrolled its streets and many residents stayed home, remain fearful after the insurgents’ takeover saw prisons emptied and armories looted. Many women have expressed dread that the two-decade Western experiment to expand their rights and remake Afghanistan would not survive the resurgent Taliban.
Ch said that everything Biden has done is wrong again and again and.

I revisit what was said and predicted.

Despite that, President Biden plowed ahead with his withdrawal plans.
He was confident enough that, just last month, he rejected comparisons to Saigon because “the Taliban is not the North Vietnamese Army.”
That might be fair. They proved far more capable.

Again, just last month, Biden said “the likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.”
One month later, the Taliban had done just that.

Rat - the 25th amendment would be wonderful!
You put Harris in charge. She cannot get a Vice President confirmed (because she will no longer be the tie-breaker) and effectively there is no more Democratic control of the Senate.
Unless, of course, Mitt Romney or some other Republican looking to suck up to liberals decides to vote to confirm that 51st vote again.
The media is filled with absolutely worthless analyses of why the Afghan army surrendered.
Some commentators blame the United States for not providing logistics. Others claimed that we undermined its non-existent morale. There's hand-wringing over the 300,000 Afghan soldiers who wouldn't fight. And the $90 billion that we squandered on building up the army that wouldn't fight.
These analyses are just as dumb as the ones that accompanied the collapse of the Iraqi Army in the face of ISIS.
The Afghan army, like its Iraqi counterpart, was a wholly artificial western institution. When faced with a tribal crisis, its members revert to their first duty, which is going to the defense of their tribe.
The Afghan army didn't "surrender".
Its Pashtun members surrendered to the Taliban who are fellow Pashtuns. Hazaras fled to Iran and took our equipment with them for the benefit of Hezbollah, the Houthis, and any other Shiite terrorists. The Uzbeks fled to Uzbekistan.
There's no Afghanistan. It's a collection of tribes whose members are loyal to their own.
The only group invested in Afghanistan, aside from the State Department, are the Pashtuns.
But the Taliban are a much more effective Pashtun bid for taking over the country than the pathetic shambles of a free and democratic Afghanistan.
And for those tribes and subtribes who want to resist the Taliban, they'll do so because they oppose that particular tribe by siding with their tribe and the warlords leading the fight. They won't do so while wearing army uniforms or toting around a lot of our equipment which we thought was absolutely vital to a modern armed force, which the locals aren't culturally compatible with, but is not especially useful for raiding tactics, which the locals are quite good at.
The Afghan army didn't surrender. Much of it never existed. The parts that did exist rejoined their tribes and are waiting for the next move which will come as the Taliban overextends itself and gets too deep in bed with the Chinese.
Our inability to understand this was the problem all along.
We insisted on building up an imaginary military for an imaginary nation. The whole farce collapsed the moment we decamped because there was no longer anything holding it together.
The people we wrongly call the Afghans reverted to who they had been all along before we demanded that they adopt the same political trappings in which we dress our political system.
http://www.danielgreenfield.org/2021/08/the-afghan-army-didnt-surrender-it.html
Unless, of course, Mitt Romney or some other Republican looking to suck up to liberals decides to vote to confirm that 51st vote again.
Or Manchin, or Sinema.
None of these clowns can be trusted, and all of them are looking to secure what power they have and add to it if possible. Factor in a Collins who would do something ridiculous before retirement, or Murkowski who's about to be primaried out of her seat and you have too many unreliable idiots who would look to go out with a bang, all to our detriment.
Plus, Joe's stupid but Cum-Allah is fucking evil. You simply cannot put someone as incompetent and evil as Harris in the white house.
Or Manchin, or Sinema.
Democrats. It would have to be Murkowski or Romney. Not sure Collins would do something quite that silly and the GOP have stood behind her for the most part. Murkowski and Romney have that "the Party left me" attitude.
A guy on Red State agrees with you -
The Worst Part? The Democrats Can't Use the 25th Amendment
https://redstate.com/joesquire/2021/08/17/the-worst-part-the-democrats-cant-use-the-25th-amendment-n428007
But the question is also whether or not the Democrats even want Harris to be in charge. Her polling is absolutely dreadful. There are a lot of whispers in the background about her being unable to even run a political office. The Biden team doesn’t seem happy with her, Democratic leadership is staying silent about her, and the media is not even trying to cover her out of fear it would make her look worse (and, given her track record, it absolutely would).
She is probably the one person Democrats are less enthused about right now than Biden. And, between Biden, Harris, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer, there doesn’t seem to be a sound leader among the Democrats in D.C. right now, and it’s pretty well exposed to the rest of the country at this point. That makes any public confidence in the party virtually zero right now, and if they somehow manage to scrape by in 2022, it will be with even tighter margins than we see now — and that’s without trying to remove Biden from power via the 25th Amendment. Can you imagine how badly the public trust in the Democrats will tank if they are forced to remove their “moderate, sensible” president from office?
And yeah, I know Manchin and Sinema are democrats. I also know they're blocking much of the left's agenda right now. And since they're democrats, neither can be trusted. Collins is looking at retirement with nothing to lose. And there are several other "mavericks" like Pierre Defecto who are capable of just about anything.
The adults are in charge now -
The Biden administration’s Department of Defense spokesperson admitted in an interview with CNN on Tuesday that it does not know how many American citizens remain in Afghanistan.
Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby told CNN that there are “certainly thousands of Americans … we don’t have an exact count.”
“Best guess … between five and ten thousand that are near Kabul,” he continued. “There was a message put out by the State Department today advising those Americans about how to queue up and how to get to the airport so that now that security’s better, they don’t need to necessarily shelter in place.”
“They can begin movement to the airport for processing,” Kirby added.

Angry Finger-Pointing Among Factions in the Biden Administration in Aftermath of Afghanistan Debacle
Sad!
This story's by Fusion Nat. There seems to be at least a three-way fight between the State Department, the woke military, and the woke intelligence community over who should be blamed for their mutual complete failure.
Factions within the Biden administration are embroiled in a blame game over why the US government didnt act sooner to withdraw American citizens and Afghans who helped the US over two decades of war, leading to a rushed and dangerous evacuation.
Military officials have said that for weeks they urged the State Department to move faster in evacuating its diplomatic personnel. State Department officials have said they were operating based on intelligence assessments that suggested they had more time, but intelligence officials insist that they had long reported the possibility of a rapid Taliban takeover.
An intelligence assessment produced within the last month assessed that the Taliban were pursuing a total military victory in Afghanistan, a source familiar with the intelligence said, despite ostensibly negotiating for peace in Doha and even as the administration continued to express confidence in those talks.
...
Some officials insist that Biden got bad advice from some of his top military and intelligence advisers. One White House official pointed to Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley's comments from three weeks ago, when he suggested the Afghan forces had the capacity to fight for and defend their country, and that a Taliban takeover was not a foregone conclusion.
"Utter bunk," the official said.
Military officials, in turn, have said they were actually prepared for the worst and had been urging the State Department for weeks to begin withdrawing embassy employees in Kabul. Pentagon officials used the words "frustration" and "sh*tshow" to describe their feelings about Washington and Kabul.
The officials said they had warned the State Department that a last-minute emergency evacuation--if needed --would be more difficult the more staffers remained.
...
A State Department official acknowledged there had been real friction with the Pentagon in recent weeks as the department resisted the military's advice to close the US Embassy in Kabul sooner. A senior administration official, however, said they were operating off the intelligence community assessments that the fall of Kabul was not imminent. The State Department, therefore, felt it was making appropriate decisions, the official said.
There are five to ten thousand Americans still in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, waiting to become hostages. At least one American has already been taken hostage by the Taliban.
And if you want out -- the Gay Pride Flag Flying Kabul Embassy will need you to fill out some paperwork:

It was but now they are being whip back into shape.

The bottom line: at present we know almost nothing about the long-term effects of the mRNA vaccines and how they affect the human body.
This was reinforced by Dr. Robert Malone, the inventor of mRNA vaccines while at the Salk Institute. In an op-ed in The Washington Times Dr. Malone laid out four issues of concern:
Universal vaccination cannot eradicate the virus and it will continually circulate much like the common cold and influenza. These vaccines are not effective in preventing Covid-19. They can only reduce, not eliminate, the risk of infection, replication and transmission. There are potential serious risks that must be taken into account, which include cardiac and thrombotic conditions, menstrual cycle disruptions, Bell’s Palsy, Guillain Barre syndrome and anaphylaxis. And unknown side effects that could emerge such as existential reproductive risks, additional autoimmune conditions and various forms of disease enhancement. These vaccines are likely to offer a mere 3 months of protection requiring additional boosters, each with the risks outlined above. The more people vaccinated the greater the number of vaccine-resistant mutations will occur. Ever more powerful vaccines will have to be developed which will expose individuals to increasingly greater risk.
Dr. Malone concludes that only the most vulnerable, the elderly with serious illnesses and others in the population with significant comorbidities, should be vaccinated. The rest of the population should rely on outpatient access to a growing number of proven prophylactics and therapeutics, such as ivermectin, famotidine/celecoxib, fluvoxamine and various anti-inflammatory steroids as well as Vitamin D and Zinc.
There is no plausible basis at present for the FDA to grant final approval for the Covid-19 vaccine as there are far too many probable risks and potential side effects that must be thoroughly investigated. At this point the Covid vaccines do not even meet the definition of a vaccine -- a drug that prevents not just treats a specific disease.
The only thing the final approval accomplishes is allowing the ruling class to unleash their vaccine mandates. Mandates that are overtly political. As the ruling elites are determined to further subjugate the citizenry through fear and intimidation.

on Afghanistan, the president’s hands were tied. On Saturday, and again on Monday, he insisted that he “inherited” Trump’s deal and his hands were tied. But, wanting it both ways, he also said he agreed with the policy that was forced on him.
It’s true, Trump’s disastrous deal with the Taliban would have had us withdraw by May 1, but because Biden was such a grownup, he extended the deadline to Sept. 11 — the 20-year anniversary of the attack that set this war in motion. In messaging terms, it was singularly the most idiotic date he could pick. But he justified the extension to ensure that “We will not conduct a hasty rush to the exit. We’ll do it — we’ll do it responsibly, deliberately and safely.”
On Sunday, CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken what to make of the fact that the spectacle in Afghanistan didn’t look particularly responsible, deliberate or safe. Blinken’s response: “Look. I think it shows that we were prepared. The president was prepared for every contingency as this moved forward.”
But Blinken also admitted, “the fact of the matter is, we’ve seen that that force has been unable to defend the country, and that has happened more quickly than we anticipated.” On Monday, Biden confirmed he was taken by surprise by the rapidity of the Afghan government’s collapse, but said it was all because the Afghans were “unwilling” to fight. He made the obligatory “the buck stops with me” nod, but also insisted the calamity was the fault of the Afghan army, which was trained and organized to depend on U.S. support.
“In the wake of President Biden’s withdrawal decision,” the Wall Street Journal reports, “the U.S. pulled its air support, intelligence and contractors servicing Afghanistan’s planes and helicopters. That meant the Afghan military simply couldn’t operate anymore.”
One would think adults would have understood this and planned accordingly — or at all. The collapse of the Afghan government wasn’t inevitable until we made it inevitable.

President Biden hasn’t spoken to any other world leaders since Kabul fell to the Taliban Sunday, according to his national security adviser Jake Sullivan. Other top aides have spoken to their foreign counterparts.
For context, European leaders have been communicating with one another, per their governments.
Unfuckingbelievable

At a briefing in Washington, U.S. officials said that approximately 3,500 troops were on the ground at Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport as of Tuesday morning, with 500 more expected by the end of the day.
Flights were halted Monday as thousands of people rushed the tarmac in desperate attempts to flee. Videos posted to social media showed Afghans clinging to a departing U.S. Air Force C-17 transport plane. Others showed planes overloaded with Afghans, who flooded across the runway to board them.
Evacuation flights resumed overnight, officials said Tuesday, and the U.S. hopes to have flights depart hourly by Wednesday with the goal of evacuating between 5,000 and 9,000 people per day for the next two weeks.

And are you sure that the doctor isn't factually correct in most (if not all) of what he states? The CDC has admitted that known "breakthrew" cases are already in the hundreds of thousands and they admit that this number would likely be higher as many vaccinated people will likely get Covid but not have symptoms that would be alarming enough to go get tested.
I know since I have been vaccinated I have had some cold symptoms. But I have not tested for Covid because I am vaccinated (figure it must be a regular cold). But if I was unvaccinated, I might go the first sign of sniffles.
So technically he is correct that the Vaccine is not "preventing" anyone from getting the virus, but rather making it less likely and mitigating the effects. That is not misinformation, but admitted information from everyone involved, including the vaccine manufactures and the CDC>
Now that doesn't mean that you shouldn't get vaccinated, but it does mean that it's unlikely that this sort of vaccine will eradicate the virus itself. It may actually take a lot more people actually catching Covid and getting the actual antibodies which are estimated to be about six times more potent in preventing you from catching the virus.
The doctor is also correct that we do not know the long term effects. Ever since I got vaccinated I occasionally get a tightness in my chest that I have never experienced before? Coincidence? Possibly. Probably. But if I find out that the vaccine has side effects that include possibly respiratory or coronary issues, then that would pretty much suck.
The truth is that we do not know. Even the safest of drugs have known side effects and every drug commercial ends with those side effects and a suggestion to talk to your doctor before taking their medication. Seems sort of odd that we have absolutely "none" of that information currently available, but we apparently are more distrustful of anyone who suggests that there might be side effects.
Again... there will be. They will be known as the drug becomes FDA approved. Depending on how serious those side effects are, one has to wonder about the logic of "demanding" a vaccine to exist in order to prevent the transmission of a virus that has a survival rate north of 99.7%.
He has started writing rambling and incoherent comments about Biden.

So we evacuated all of our troops, only to send 3500 back into Afghanistan.
Can anyone still say this was fine planning?
Biden does know how many Americans are in Afghanistan.
So , unless you know it's, 10,000 or 40,000 you don't have a plan.

We have to rescue him and people like him.
As the world watched the United States pull out from Afghanistan and Taliban forces take over the country, we spoke by text message with an Afghan Air Force pilot, now in hiding along with several other pilots and hoping to be evacuated.
Who are you? Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
I was born in Kunar, Afghanistan and joined the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in 2005. I’m married with seven beautiful children. Unfortunately, we are currently separated, because the Taliban took Kabul.
I’m at an undisclosed location with other Afghan Air Force (AAF) pilots, hiding from the Taliban. They are hunting us.
Actually, they’ve been hunting us for years, but this really increased over the last year. The AAF, along with the Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps (ANASOC), were the best fighters for the Afghan government. The AAF was very good. Because we were very good, the Taliban hunted us relentlessly over the last year. I lost many friends to Taliban assassins.
They’ve already executed a few pilots over the weekend.
What was your career with the Afghan Air Force like?
I was very proud to be an AAF pilot. I was a commander. I spent years in the United States, learning to speak English and going through undergraduate pilot training. I visited San Antonio, Fort Rucker, and a lot of other places, too. I like Texas the best. I thought the people were very friendly.
I started at the Defense Language Institute, then moved onto undergraduate pilot training, and then eventually more advanced pilot training for my aircraft. I have so many fond memories of my time in the United States. However, I loved working with my American Air Force advisors the most. They were incredible men and women. When they left [Afghanistan] in May, I was very scared that this day would come.
However, we fought for a long time, and it was the loss of the contractors that really hurt us. Although we have a lot of really good pilots, it takes a very long time to train maintainers. Although we had made great strides, especially with the Mi-17s, we weren’t ready to do it alone without the contractors. A lot of the American-made aircraft are very sophisticated and they take years of training to maintain them adequately.
What’s your current situation?
Like I said, I’m currently in hiding. We are hoping to get out. If we are not rescued, then the Taliban will execute us.
The AAF and the Afghan Special Operations Forces are not the same as regular rank-and-file soldiers. We are very well known. We were celebrated by the Afghan people, so everyone knows us. It’s a very big deal to be an Afghan pilot or a commando.
Anyway, we are hoping that the Americans will take us, and our families, to safety. We spent decades fighting alongside American forces.
Anything you want the American public to know?
Many Afghan soldiers died bravely. I’ve been fighting for over fifteen years. We did not all just give up and quit. Yes, some did. Once the Americans left, we weren’t ready to start doing all the logistics. The logistics, the maintenance, and corruption really hurt us.
I know people in the U.S. are upset that we didn’t fight longer. But we’ve been fighting for decades—and some of us, even longer. When the U.S. left, it really affected morale, especially how quickly it happened. We woke up one day, then Bagram was gone. Everyone got scared. It got out of control.
I’m mad at many of the senior leaders who lined their pockets and simply vanished from the country. However, thousands of Afghan officers were not responsible for that. We were simply doing the best we could.
There are a lot of Afghans who trusted the United States. Not just translators. Not just civil society activists, but also Afghan soldiers. We loved fighting alongside Americans.
Please don’t leave us behind. Please. We will be great Americans.
...one has to wonder about the logic of "demanding" a vaccine to exist in order to prevent the transmission of a virus that has a survival rate north of 99.7%.
Not really, once you realize this isn't about saving a life. It's about control. Full FDA approval removes all barriers to a sweeping mandate.
Look at new Zealand and Australia. They've reverted back to penal colony status, with NZ going into full-on, fucking ape shit LOCKDOWN over one new case.
ONE.
Boy, how I wish we could revert back to those Hitlerian, totalitarian dictator days of Trump.
Heh.

The Delta variant of the Covid-19 virus appears to be breaking through the protection vaccines provide at a higher rate than previous strains, a Wall Street Journal analysis found, though infections among the fully inoculated remain a tiny fraction of overall cases, and symptoms tend to be milder.

The CDC has recommended universal masking indoors in areas with substantial levels of spread and in all schools nationwide, regardless of vaccination status.
The CDC said it based its guidance on data collected during a July outbreak in Provincetown, Mass., in which 127 vaccinated patients who became infected were observed to produce similar viral loads as those found in 84 infected people who were either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. The agency says those observations indicated that the Delta variant may spread quickly even among vaccinated people.
An internal CDC document from July outlining the agency’s communications strategy on vaccines estimated that the Delta variant could be causing 35,000 symptomatic breakthrough infections each week.
A CDC spokeswoman said that estimate was based on agency modeling data.
Rina Salhout, a fully vaccinated 39-year-old mother of two who lives in Hudson, N.Y., said she developed flulike symptoms and temporarily lost her sense of taste after she visited the Boston’s Children’s Museum in July with her family. She tested positive for Covid-19, but she said that her symptoms resolved within a few days and that she didn’t spread the illness to her family.
“I never had the chance to really feel like I had Covid, but I believe the vaccine saved us,” Ms. Salhout said.

WASHINGTON, Aug 17 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's administration plans to extend requirements for travelers to wear masks on airplanes, trains and buses and at airports and train stations through Jan. 18 to address ongoing COVID-19 risks, three sources told Reuters.
Major U.S. airlines were informed of the planned extension on a call with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday, the three people briefed on the matter said. A separate call with aviation unions is planned for Wednesday, a source said.

LOL. The whole fucking world thinks Slow Joe is a fucking imbecile:
BERLIN — Until Sunday, Europe thought Joe Biden was an expert on foreign policy.
Now, the American president’s decision to allow Afghanistan to collapse into the arms of the Taliban has European officials worried he has unwittingly accelerated what his predecessor Donald Trump started: the degradation of the Western alliance and everything it is supposed to stand for in the world.
Across Europe, officials have reacted with a mix of disbelief and a sense of betrayal. Even those who cheered Biden’s election and believed he could ease the recent tensions in the transatlantic relationship said they regarded the withdrawal from Afghanistan as nothing short of a mistake of historic magnitude.
“I say this with a heavy heart and with horror over what is happening, but the early withdrawal was a serious and far-reaching miscalculation by the current administration,” said Norbert Röttgen, chairman of the German parliament’s foreign relations committee. “This does fundamental damage to the political and moral credibility of the West.”
Röttgen, a senior member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats, is no flamethrower. He has known Biden for decades and was optimistic about his prospects.
While Merkel has avoided direct criticism of Biden, behind the scenes she has made it clear that she considered the hasty withdrawal a mistake.
“For those who believed in democracy and freedom, especially for women, these are bitter events,” she told a meeting with officials from her party late Monday, according to German media reports.
In the U.K., which like Germany supported the U.S. engagement in Afghanistan from the beginning, the sentiment was similar. “Afghanistan is the biggest foreign policy disaster since Suez. We need to think again about how we handle friends, who matters and how we defend our interests,” tweeted Tom Tugendhat, the Conservative chair of the U.K. parliament’s foreign affairs committee.
At a time when some European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, have been pushing for the bloc to pursue a security policy less dependent on America, Afghanistan is bound to be used as evidence for why “strategic autonomy” is necessary.
“Naturally this has damaged American credibility, along with that of the intelligence services and of the military,” said Rüdiger Lentz, the former head of the Aspen Institute in Berlin.
“One can only hope that the damage to America’s foreign policy leadership can be quickly contained.”
