So now everyone is going to get evicted?

Eviction protection is running out and what does that mean?

So it looks like the executive action put in place no longer has a valid legal reason for continuing. Quite obviously you cannot demand from an executive level that every landlord in the country provide their dwellings for free for an unlimited amount of time. This moratorium on evictions has been surviving under emergency measures and has been extended 30 days at a time. But at this point, the legal authority has ruled that there is no more legal reasoning for another extension. According to a ruling at the USSC level, if the moratorium is to continue it must be passed through Congress as a law.

Joe Biden would be flying in the face of the USSC ruling by offering another extension.

Obviously there is no way that Congress can pass this law and get it signed to help with a moratorium that has already expired. The infighting and fingerprinting between the Biden Administration and Democrats in Congress is over the top right now. Each side is blaming the other for something they should have known was coming now every since the Kavanaugh ruling.

Now the cows have come home so to speak and the proverbial and literal rent is due. While the executive action prevented people from being evicted, it did not prevent the rent from being charged, and it does not provide that they stayed there for free. Past due rent will need to be paid, or people will get tossed out.

This is one of those deals where foresight needed to be just a little bit better. Possibly something could have been passed or done to assist the landlords during this time (rather than just the tenants).  Had the government done something to compensate these landlords for missing rent, then the landlords could have been in a position to forgive the past due rent.

But of course, providing funds to the evil slum lords would not have sat well with the Democrats. Their ongoing theory is that business owners, landlords, and everyone who provides these services can take the hit for everyone else. Whenever something is done artificially to help someone, it always ultimately harms someone else. Or in this case it just delayed the harm to those it was hoping to protect. Did they really believe that after months of not getting paid while still providing their services, that landlords would just forgive the past due rent?

To put a political point.

The Republicans want to see a repeat of the Great Depression when tens of thousands of people were homeless and in huge numbers of tents in public places.

The Democrats have not handled it yet

And like we both said that the politicians put their points ahead of concern for others.

Too many Republicans want to repeat the Great Depression to gain power.

The President has been asking the state governments to try and evade putting tens of thousands of people on the streets.

But holy shit

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and then retaliated against a former employee who complained publicly about his conduct, according to a bombshell report that will be released Tuesday by state Attorney General Letitia James.

James’ report will also say that Cuomo’s office was riddled with fear and intimidation, and was a hostile work environment for many staffers.

The announcement from James at a press conference Tuesday morning came about two weeks after Cuomo was interviewed by investigators retained by James’ office for the probe. Cuomo was reportedly questioned for 11 hours.

The probe into numerous women’s allegations of sexual harassment by Cuomo began in March, after the state’s executive chamber granted James’ request to investigate.

He should resign immediately!

Other aides have said that the Democratic governor asked them unwelcome personal questions about sex and dating. One former aide, Charlotte Bennett, said Cuomo asked if she was open to sex with an older man.

Last winter there was a chorus of calls for Cuomo's resignation from many top elected Democrats in New York, including two U.S. senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. But Cuomo refused to quit and has been raising money for a fourth term in office.

There is no excuse. Too bad you didn't care about Kavanaugh for similar situations...

Yeah, that's it alky.

Kavanaugh had ONE solitary accuser of questionable mental health with no direct evidence of harassment.

Cuomo has several documented and demonstrable accusers with direct evidence of his harassment.

Other than that you nailed it chief.

LOL.

Gov. Cuomo is toast.

He needs to step down.

Look, just like Kavanaugh...

The attorney general said the investigation independently corroborated and substantiated the women's allegations, including interviewing more than 179 individuals, including the women who accused Cuomo of sexual harassment. They also reviewed more than 74,000 pieces of evidence, including emails, photos and documents.

...except for the 170 individual witnesses and 74,000 pieces of evidence.

LOL @ the alky.

Well... maybe. The NYS Police is as corrupt a State Agency as they come around here. They operate a lot like our FBI does at the federal level. The place is chock full of scumbags and bullies, and the only thing they excel at is covering for each other.

We NYS taxpayers are paying some astronomical pensions to some truly despicable people.

I'm not saying don't believe her. I'm saying 'trust but verify.'

Plus, the female troopers I've met are what I'd refer to as "a 12-pack and a light switch" and I've met several.

Not the most attractive if you catch my drift.

Roger, your team has all the power.

Your team failed to protect people and limit the number of those being like you were, throw out in the gutter.

RRB , have criminal.charges been filed against Cuomo?

rrb said...

No criminal charges.

The state legislature could've impeached his ass after calling for him to resign. They weren't serious, choosing instead to rally around him and protect him.

I don't think he's going anywhere as we are just stupid enough to re-elect his ass.

Democrats got to the mat for anyone on their team no matter the crime. They could've found Cuomo like the pederast - balls deep in the ass of a dead 8 year old boy - and they'd still protect him.

Because the vast majority of sexual harassment and rape are not convicted.

He knows how it works

What does this have to do with Republicans?

Are you suggesting that the minority Party was responsible for making sure Congress went ahead and extended this? That if it didn't get extended it is the GOP's fault?

How is it possible that you can continue to just "blame the GOP" without any actually reasonable reason for doing so? It is literally like anytime anything goes wrong you immediately point fingers at the minority party that has no way to get anything done?

Nothing.

This is an example of the alky going 'full retard' coupled with a healthy dose of psychological projection.

We actually HAD a repeat of the Great Depression on a small scale - the Covid Lockdown. Two weeks to flatten the curve was a ruse. Bad Orange Man had to go, and if that meant destroying a $23 TRILLION economy, the left was more than glad to do so.

Sleepy Joe's plan is being enacted by the CDC.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a new eviction moratorium that would last until October 3, as the Biden administration sought to quell intensifying criticism from progressives that it was allowing vulnerable renters to lose their homes during a pandemic.

The ban announced Tuesday could help keep millions in their homes as the coronavirus’ delta variant has spread and states have been slow to release federal rental aid. It would temporarily halt evictions in counties with “substantial and high levels” of virus transmissions and would cover areas where 90% of the U.S. population lives.

The announcement was a reversal for the Biden administration, which allowed an earlier moratorium to lapse over the weekend after saying a Supreme Court ruling prevented an extension. That ripped open a dramatic split between the White House and progressive Democrats who insisted the administration do more to prevent some 3.6 million Americans from losing their homes during the COVID-19 crisis.

Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, Biden said he pushed the CDC to again consider its options. But he still seemed hesitant as to whether the new moratorium could withstand lawsuits about its constitutionality, saying he has sought the opinions of experts as to whether the Supreme Court would approve the measure.

“The bulk of the constitutional scholarship says that it’s not likely to pass constitutional muster,” Biden said. “But there are several key scholars who think that it may and it’s worth the effort.”

That's good news because it will work until October 3rd when the Congress is open and they will extend the anti eviction plan.
