So what to make of something like this?

This was in my Twitter notifications feed this morning?

Let's start with the fact that my wife, myself, and most everyone in our family is vaccinated and has been for some time, so where this idiot gets the idea that I am an anti-vaxxer is anyone's guess. But what does any of that have to do with enabling pedophilia?

I get these things from Nursing Home Rog all the time. Including this little tidbit right in the middle of some other notifications? Just a random odd assertion in the middle of normal notifications I might received when I am tagged, replied to, or otherwise notified of something of interest. Everything else in the feed is normal. But then "what the fuck".

Anyways. The interesting part about this is that nursing home Rog will likely accuse me of obsessing over him because I bring up the fact that he continues to spam my twitter account (like he did with FB until I had to block him). Anyone want to take a bet on that?

Employers added 943,000 jobs in July, the Labor Department reported Friday, but the data was collected in the first half of the month, before variant-related cases exploded in many parts of the country.

The jobs gain for June, initially reported at 850,000, was revised to 938,000.

Hiring rose in July despite fears over Covid-19′s delta variant and as companies struggled with a tight labor supply, the Labor Department reported Friday.

Nonfarm payrolls increased by 943,000 for the month while the unemployment rate dropped to 5.4%, according to the department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for 845,000 new jobs and a headline jobless rate of 5.7%.

The jobs gain for June, initially reported at 850,000, was revised to 938,000.

Last month you said that 850,000 was pathetic. In June the President Biden Biden economic recovery created almost a million jobs. 938,000.

DID ROGER MENTION
"CH'S NEW HERO GOVERNOR DESANTIS"?

‘Governor who?’:
Ron DeSantis’ popularity tanks as Biden mocks him and Delta ravages state

Gino Spocchia
Fri, August 6, 2021, 7:24 AM
Ron DeSantis’s popularity
has fallen among Floridians as Delta infections continue to ravage his state, which last week accounted for almost one in five infections from Covid across the whole US.

Mr DeSantis, who is facing criticism from local politicians as well as the White House, has seen his approval ranting collapse by 10 per cent, according to a poll published on Wednesday by St Pete Polls.

It found that of 3,952 respondents to the poll on 2 and 3 August, as few as 44 per cent approved of the Florida Republican, who US president Joe Biden referred to on Thursday as “governor who?”

The President, who was asked about Mr DeSantis’ handling of Covid, told Republican governors to “get out of the way of the people who are trying to do the right thing,” if they were not “willing to do the right thing” to reduce infections.

Florida, in addition to Texas, currently accounts for a third of all Covid cases in the US, with the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reporting one in five infections in Florida alone.

On Thursday, a record total of 12,373 hospitalisations were reported by the state’s health department — AMONG MORE CHILDREN than any other US state.

Mr DeSantis, who is widely seen as a possible challenger to Mr Biden in 2024, hit back by saying he didn’t “want to hear a blip about Covid" from the White House until the issue of border security is fixed.

“If you're trying to restrict people and impose mandates and ruin their jobs and livelihood if you are trying to lock people down, I am standing in your way,” said Mr DeSantis. “I am standing for the people of Florida.”

He also admitted that HE DID NOT EXPECT to see “this many positive tests and some of the hospitalisations” despite attacking lockdown and masking.

OH REALLY? WONDER WHY?

According to Florida Politics, when voters were asked in May whether they approved of Mr DeSantis, 55 per cent said yes, meaning his popularity has fallen by 11 per cent.

Covid has so far claimed the lives of more than 39,000 Floridians, and infected almost 2.7 million.

Former Vice President Mike Pence is urging young conservatives to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Speaking to an audience at Young America's Foundation in Houston on August 4, Pence told the audience that he got the vaccine and referred to vaccine-development program Operation Warp Speed as an "American medical miracle."

"I got the shot, my family got the shot," Pence told his Republican audience in Texas. "I want to encourage anyone here who hasn't gotten the shot, who is eligible, to go get it. And if you're not sure about it, go ask your doctor and get the very best advice that you can."

Trump ally announces date of next event: 'We’re going back to the Capitol'
Sarah K. Burris

For about a month, fans of President Donald Trump claimed that there would be another huge rally in Washington, D.C. and that he would be reinstated as the president. Pillow CEO Mike Lindell claimed it would happen on Aug. 15, just ten days away.

But now, a Trump ally is announcing his own event for Sept. 18. The Huffington Post cited the architect, Matt Braynard as he spoke to Steve Bannon on a recent podcast. "We're going back to the Capitol, right where it started. And it's going to be huge," Braynard promised.

"As we continue to raise the profiles of these individuals" who have been arrested, it "makes it harder and harder for the left's phony narrative about an insurrection to stick," Braynard said. "We're going to push back on the phony narrative that there was an insurrection."

It's unclear which of the individuals he's talking about, as some of them have told courts that they made a huge mistake, were convinced by Trump's call and some even blame the former president.

The majority of the cases are moving quickly through the legal system with people pleading out and getting away on probation. However, there are members of militias and those who worked to plan the attack on the Capitol. Those appear to be some of the cases that seem to be taking longer.

If this becomes a regular occurrence, it will hurt the country!!!!!

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The response to a virus is not a simple issue. And again the response is a highly complex situation.

1: We didn't know it was passed from person to person.

2: The former President Trump concealed everything about it publicly for weeks before he initiated Warp Speed.

3: Because he hid the information publicly, the governors of most states didn't know how to respond. Tens of thousands of elderly people died in nursing homes across the country.

4: Calling Fauci and the CDC were just Democrats who wanted to shut down the economy, for their purposes!

When Doctor Fauci said that people should not mask, because he knew that the first responders needed them, before we distributed millions of them.

School Administrators May Defy Masking Bans
August 6, 2021 at 10:04 am EDT By Taegan
New York Times:
“With coronavirus cases rising sharply across the country, and new federal guidance that everyone, vaccinated or not, should wear masks in schools, some school districts in those states are imposing mask mandates anyway, despite the risk of financial penalties for defying the state orders.

“In Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, said in an executive order last Friday that the state would take away funding from any district that infringed on ‘the fundamental right of parents to make health and educational decisions for their children’ by requiring students to wear masks.

“But four Florida school systems — in Broward, Leon, Duval and Alachua Counties — have said they would retain or seek to impose mask mandates.”

TAEGAN GODDARD COMMENTS:
"Defund the teachers” is probably not a winning strategy.

A Pandemic Fueled by Republican Ambition

August 6, 2021 at 10:02 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Eugene Robinson:
“This is the GOP’s pandemic now.
Cynical and irresponsible Republican politicians have created an environment that is
killing Americans who shouldn’t have to die,
swamping hospital systems with desperately ill patients,
and generally ensuring that the pain and disruption of covid-19 are with us longer than they need be or should be.
And they’ve done so in their own self-interest.

“Yes, the more-infectious delta variant is driving this new wave.
But vaccination and mask-wearing have the power to check that spike in cases, and to prevent those new diagnoses from turning into hospitalizations and deaths.

“Can we possibly be so stupid that we ignore all empirical evidence and insist on inflicting grievous self-harm? Ambitious Republicans are betting that the answer to that question is yes.”

BIG mistake. HUGE.

Employers Add Nearly 1 Million Jobs in July
August 6, 2021 at 10:01 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Wall Street Journal:
“Employers added jobs at the best pace in nearly a year in July and the unemployment rate fell sharply, signs of a strong labor market ahead of the Delta variant threat.

“The unemployment rate, derived from a separate survey of households, fell to 5.4% in July from 5.9% in June.”

The Los Angeles Times editorial

It may soon be tougher to be unvaccinated against COVID-19 in Los Angeles — and that’s a good thing.

Last week, state agencies and the city of Los Angeles imposed rules requiring their employees to be vaccinated or submit to regular testing, and this week L.A. County officials moved to mandate vaccines for their workforce. Other employers have mandated immunization as well. Since then, the rate of vaccinations in California has increased.

But not quite enough to end the pandemic. And now Los Angeles authorities are weighing even tougher restrictions, similar to those announced recently in New York City, that would require patrons to show proof of vaccination to enter indoor businesses.

As fraught as such restrictions would be, not to mention controversial, they stop comfortably short of a universal vaccine mandate. People have the right to refuse medication.

ADVERTISING

But it’s reasonable, and in fact imperative, for authorities to limit the ability of those who are not immunized against COVID-19 — currently, nearly 30% of Angelenos over 16 — to spread infection during a public health crisis when cases, hospitalizations and deaths are back on the upswing. If conditions get much worse over the next few weeks, Los Angeles could even face new shutdowns similar to those last winter. No one wants that, least of all businesses that suffered greatly from forced closures.

Nevertheless, Los Angeles must tread carefully in taking this next step. Any restrictions must be crafted strategically and compassionately — and with a clear ending point so that Angelenos know this is a temporary measure. They must accommodate people who are under 12 or who have medical conditions that don’t allow them to be inoculated.

The proposal put forth by the Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday does not quite meet those marks. For one thing, it goes too far by including essential businesses. Everyone needs access to groceries, clothing and prescriptions. Many of the people who remain unvaccinated are already struggling, and prohibiting them from shopping for essentials would be an undue hardship.

But what the unvaccinated can live without is seeing a movie in a theater, getting a spa treatment or observing happy hour inside the local bar. Imposing vaccine certification requirements on nonessential businesses would send a strong signal that having no shot equals having no fun.

NEW YORK (AP) — CNN has fired three employees who violated company policy by coming to work unvaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

CNN chief Jeff Zucker told staff members of the firing in a memo sent Thursday that reminded them that vaccines were mandatory if they report to the office or out in the field where they come into contact with other employees.

“Let me be clear — we have a zero tolerance policy on this,” wrote Zucker, chairman of news and sports for WarnerMedia.
