Biden to Compel Airlines to Speed Evacuation August 21, 2021 at 11:09 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 50 Comments
“The Pentagon is moving toward compelling major American airlines to help transport tens of thousands of evacuees from Afghanistan, as the military struggles to meet the demand from Afghans seeking to leave Kabul, the capital, after the Taliban took control,” the New York Times reports,
Wall Street Journal: “The White House is expected to consider activating the Civil Reserve Air Fleet, or CRAF, created in 1952 in the wake of the post-World War II Berlin Airlift, to provide nearly 20 commercial jets from up to five airlines to augment U.S. military efforts to transport Afghan evacuees from bases in the region.”
Biden to Address Nation Again on Afghanistan August 21, 2021 at 11:08 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 23 Comments
“President Biden is scheduled to address the nation Sunday afternoon to provide updates on the administration’s evacuation efforts in Afghanistan, as pressure continues to mount for his security team to safely transport thousands of Americans and Afghan allies amid growing security threats,” The Hill reports.
The future of The Republican party isn't legislation It's shitposting
It's hardly a groundbreaking proposition to say that after four years of Donald Trump in the White House, the Republican Party of 2021 is less an institution interested in actual legislating than it is a collection of loosely affiliated neo-fascists and enablers who have come to understand a fundamental truth of American politics in the 21st century: There are huge swaths of the country who couldn't care less about laws and Congress and "results." They want a sense of self-affirming superiority. They want mean-spirited partisan blood. They want, to put it plainly, politicians who shitpost.
The Pentagon is moving toward compelling major American airlines to help transport tens of thousands of evacuees from Afghanistan, as the military struggles to meet the demand from Afghans seeking to leave Kabul, the capital, after the Taliban took control,” the New York Times reports,
In the survey, Rasmussen Reports said 52% of respondents said they are not confident that Biden is physically or mentally “up to the job of being president of the United States.” And 41% of respondents said they are “not confident at all.”
Another 46% said they are confident in Biden.
Women, men, white people, Republicans, and middle-aged to elderly voters lack confidence in Biden, according to the survey.
The survey outlet also asked, “Is Joe Biden really doing the job of president, or are others making the decisions for him behind the scenes?”
Again, a slight majority, 51%, said others are doing his work, while 39% said Biden is in charge, down from 47% in March.
Those numbers are worse than the findings from a similar SurveyMonkey poll just one month into his presidency when 33% said he isn’t mentally sharp enough for the job.
Looking through the "funnies" above, there are certain ones that are so reprehensible that they or anything like them should not be used by anyone of either of our major political persuasions.
He made a decision, knowing that he would probably suffer at the polls. Getting out of Afghanistan was the most important decision in his first six months. It was the correct decision in recent American history.
The new poll shows the result. Few Presidents have made decisions knowingly it would cost him support among the people.
“Gallup’s latest job approval rating for President Joe Biden, conducted mostly before the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban earlier this week, is 49%.”
“With Biden’s last two job approval ratings around 50%, the honeymoon phase of his presidency is over. His approval shows its first sustained decline and now sits below the historical average 53% job approval rating. The Afghanistan crisis may serve to further erode his public support.”
Remember, one thing about most politicians will not risk their future.
Afghanistan was going to collapse, no matter who was the President when we decided to withdraw from Afghanistan.
He knew it would hurt him politically. How often does that occur?
WASHINGTON — After a spike in U.S. Covid-19 cases and bipartisan criticism over the chaos from America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, President Joe Biden's overall job-approval rating has dipped below 50 percent among adults for the first time in his early presidency, according to a new NBC News poll.
The poll also finds fewer Americans support Biden’s handling of the coronavirus and the economy now than they did last spring, and just a quarter of respondents approve of his handling of Afghanistan.
Whether you agree with him or not, but you should admire his bravery.
Whether you agree with him or not, but you should admire his bravery.
Bravery, alky?
Generally when one commits an act of bravery their cognition is at a level where they are cognizant of what they're actually doing. They possess a level of basic human and situational awareness.
Biden displays exactly none of these things.

Americans Still Support Pulling Troops August 22, 2021 at 9:30 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
A new CBS News/YouGov poll found that 63% of Americans support removing U.S. troops from Afghanistan but just 47% approve of President Biden’s handling of it.
We are going to rescue tens of million of people who risked their lives to support the United States during the Afghanistan war.
The Pentagon said Sunday it had activated a rarely used program that compels commercial airlines to be used in times of a national emergency, activating 18 civilian aircraft to help evacuate Afghans from Europe and the Middle East.
Officials said the aircraft wouldn’t fly in and out of Kabul but would ferry evacuees in and out of bases in Germany, Qatar and Bahrain.
The Pentagon requested aircraft from six airlines for a period of approximately one to two weeks, defense officials said. American Airlines Group Inc., Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc., Delta Air Lines Inc. and Omni Air International LLC are providing three aircraft each, while two planes will come from Hawaiian Airlines and an additional four from United Airlines Holdings Inc.
The move is the latest effort by the Biden administration as it scrambles to transport tens of thousands of Afghans and other civilians out of Kabul after the U.S.-backed government collapsed a week ago, leading to a takeover by the insurgent Taliban movement and a rush of civilians seeking to flee the country.
The U.S. military has deployed dozens of C-17 cargo aircraft to fly evacuees out of Kabul. Some flights have transported more than 400 people, packed tightly on the floors of planes designed to carry cargo. Those planes, which lack adequate restroom facilities or the ability to provide food, aren’t suited to carry civilians for the long trip over the Atlantic to U.S. bases, where the Afghans will be taken, officials said.
They will have food and water and a place to take a shit.

It was long past time to get the hell out of there. Trump said so too.
Not heard one person provide a single reason why the Afghanistan fiasco should be supported.
Because that's not the question and it never was. All that is is yet another false narrative by the left.
"If you don't support Biden pulling out of Afghanistan, you support staying there for EVAH."
Uh no. That's alky or any other cognitively-handicapped liberal making what they call their argument.
I know exactly no one who wishes to stay, with the exception of a few hundred troops for INTEL purposes, knowing that China, Iran, Russia, and Pakistan will occupy the vacuum we leave behind. We have a strategic national interest to keep an eye on things there. Biden's complete and total surrender leaves us blind.
So, let's review...
Biden's abandonment of American citizens there was his first mistake.
Biden's gift of the tens of MILLION$ of dollar$ in military weaponry and vehicles his second mistake.
NOT firing Austin, Blinken and Milley his third mistake.
And now, running around like a fool begging commercial airlines to participate in the airlift after all this time squandered is yet another.

Putin Rejected Role for U.S. Forces Near Afghanistan at Summit With Biden After Afghan withdrawal, U.S. military hopes to position forces temporarily near Afghanistan, but Putin told Biden that Moscow objects
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a June 16 summit meeting with President Biden, objected to any role for American forces in Central Asian countries, senior U.S. and Russian officials said, undercutting the U.S. military’s efforts to act against new terrorist dangers after its Afghanistan withdrawal.
The previously unreported exchange between the U.S. and Russian leaders has complicated the U.S. military’s options for basing drones and other counterterrorism forces in countries bordering landlocked Afghanistan. That challenge has deepened with the collapse over the weekend of the Afghan government and armed forces.
The exchange also indicates that Moscow is more determined to try to maintain Central Asia as a sphere of influence than to expand cooperation with a new American president over the turmoil in Afghanistan, former and current U.S. officials said.
“The Russians have no interest in having the U.S. back in there,” said Paul Goble, a former State Department expert on Eurasia.
The U.S. requirement for what the Pentagon calls an “over-the-horizon” counterterrorism capability in Afghanistan has grown substantially in recent days with the Taliban takeover.

Biden will never get back what he lost with his incompetence over Afghanistan. Largely because he is and will continue to be incapable of showing competence in other things to offset this fiasco.
In six months people might not care much that Conor McGregor lost twice in a row to Dustin Poirier in fairly convincing fashion. People probably will want to see him fight again. But if they were to fight for a fourth time, I promise you that McGregor would be a heavy underdog and people would no longer lay their money on the table and bet that he still wins.
Those days of people having confidence that Conor McGregor was next to invincible are gone. He will never get it back unless he actually wins it back in spectacular fashion.
But just like McGregor could probably fight Poirier another five times and likely lose five times... Biden will fuck up the next thing that comes along. Now people are questioning HIM about Covid (he lost like 16% of his support in the handling of Covid in the most recent poll I saw). If it doesn't get under control (and soon) then Biden will start being blamed.
Fivethirtyeight explains why the President's decision to use civilian aircraft to rescue heroes who risked their lives to support the U.S., will help him recover from the low polls of today..
One thing that does come across clearly in the polls, though, is Americans’ desire to address the humanitarian crisis that has arisen because of the Taliban takeover. Polls found extremely strong support for helping Afghans whose lives are now in danger. In the Ipsos/Reuters poll, 73 percent of adults supported evacuating Afghans who aided American troops and bringing them to the U.S., while just 16 percent were opposed. And Americans were also willing to deploy American troops to hold off the Taliban so that such an evacuation could take place, 68 percent to 18 percent. According to a Data for Progress poll fielded Aug. 13-16, Americans also favor speeding up the visa process so that Afghans can resettle in the U.S., 55 percent to 30 percent.
The racist rodent bastard will oppose letting them settle in the United States because they are Mooslimbs...

According to Roger and whatever assistance he had... Biden is "brave" and will likely stand up to Putin on this. Who is Putin to tell the US where we can station troops. Brave brave sir Biden will no doubt station troops there just to spite Putin.
Or maybe he will just suck ass and do what he is told by Putin!
Just a few months after the 1975 withdrawal from Vietnam, it didn't matter..

Americans still support the pulling out of our troops, and here's something else the Biden administration and the international community are getting right:
Afghanistan’s Banking System Near Collapse August 22, 2021 at 9:24 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 21 Comments
MIT Technology Review: “Afghanistan’s banking system is in a state of collapse, and people throughout the country are running out of money. And this cash crisis—partly due to the international community’s efforts to starve the Taliban of resources—is having an outsized effect on everyday Afghan citizens, leaving many without access to important services as the UN warns of a growing humanitarian disaster.”

Alky, you are to be commended for perfectly encapsulation and crystallizing the only thing that matters to you and the left on Afghanistan -
POLITICS.
"This will go away quickly, this will be a distant memory in 6 months, this won't hurt Biden at the polls for very long, Biden will recovery from this quickly, the American people have short memories, using civilian aircraft to rescue heroes who risked their lives to support the U.S., will help him recover from the low polls of today.."
The recurring theme of ALL of that is one thing and one thing only - political survival and viability for Biden long term.
Having committed a horrific and galactically strategic foreign policy blunder only six months into the job, his clusterfuck handling of the US economy - INFLATION, the steep rise in violent crime in America, his complete bungling of Covid - which he PROMISED to "stop in it's tracks," AND the foreign invasion of Covid-infected illegals at our southern border.
So yeah, I can se why you're laser focused on the politics of this regime alky. The political optics fucking SUCK for this clown from every angle, perspective and quantitative measure.

If I remember correctly, it was Trump who took Putin's word over the word of our own intelligence agencies.
If I remember correctly, and I most certainly do, it was Russian intelligence who repeatedly warned the FBI about the Boston Marathon bombers. The FBI dismissed the warnings out of hand.
If I remember correctly, it was Trump who took Putin's word over the word of our own intelligence agencies.
If I remember correctly, or Intelligence agencies were convinced that Putin and Trump were conspiring to steal an election from Hillary Clinton. They spent tens of millions of dollars unsuccessfully trying to prove it.
Mueller went so far as to attempt to charge Russian companies with illegal election activities and got the cases tossed out of court for LACK OF EVIDENCE. Mueller's failed attempts to tie a couple of low level advertising firms to Putin and the Russian government FAILED MISERABLY!
Our Intelligence community tried for nearly two years to prove Putin was involved with election tampering and that Trump was in on it. They got what the little boy shot at and missed, Reverend!!! They got it wrong!!!!!!
Since they were wrong, I think it was probably wise to not trust them.
How often do you trust the word of people who openly lie in public and accuse you of things you didn't do?
The latest Fox News poll shows 53% approval rating
That was taken before the Afghan debacle. The Rasmussen poll was taken after people saw Biden live as confuse person who's speech contradicted the facts on the ground.
It was an image of a weak president who is rack with indecision. Or rather indecision of his aids who are really calling the shots.
But if they were to fight for a fourth time, I promise you that McGregor would be a heavy underdog and people would no longer lay their money on the table and bet that he still wins.
Oh I don't know. If the odds were heavenly against McGregor than it might be worth it.
Statement by Press Secretary Jen Psaki on President Biden’s Meeting with G7 Leaders
AUGUST 22, 2021STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
President Biden will virtually meet with G7 leaders on August 24, 2021. The leaders will discuss continuing our close coordination on Afghanistan policy and evacuating our citizens, the brave Afghans who stood with us over the last two decades, and other vulnerable Afghans. They will also discuss plans to provide humanitarian assistance and support for Afghan refugees. The meeting will build on President Biden’s calls this week with G7 leaders Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Emmanuel Macron of France, and Prime Minister Mario Draghi of Italy.
Oh I don't know. If the odds were heavenly against McGregor than it might be worth it.
In MMA anything can happen. It's not like boxing with shorter rounds, standing eight counts and such. One clean shot can end a fight.
But my point is that Conor McGregor will never be seen like he was five years ago. Between losing to Dias and twice to Poirier, he will never again be seen like he was.
While I hesitate to put Biden in the same realm as McGregor in his prime, the idea of not ever getting the genie back in the bottle is the reality. For Biden, I think many liberals have been "pretending" that he is okay. I think deep down everyone knows he isn't competent. But now that it's exposed and it cost us what it did (not just lives and billions in equipment, but mostly credibility with our allies who trusted us and now "their" citizens are in danger) - I just don't think he recovers.
President Biden will virtually meet with G7 leaders on August 24, 2021.
I doubt our G7 leaders are going to be looking to Biden for leadership and guidance. Like the British, they will no longer be willing to trust or count on America to follow through with their promises to keep their citizens safe.
It's bad enough we endangered US and Afghan citizens, but every country that had an embassy or personnel in Afghanistan was put in jeopardy by Biden's incompetence.
And as is typical around here, whenever the alky starts to flail and fail, he starts in with his psychological projections, casting aspersions that only exist within his feeble mind.
I guess being locked down in a Medicaid detention facility will do that to a person.
Our intelligence community DID try for nearly two years to prove Putin was involved with election tampering and that Trump was in on it.
Our intelligence community DID fail.
Do you recall what happened when Mueller "charged" Russian entities with the breaking of election laws? They had to be tossed from court because the Russian companies hired attorneys, demanded a jury trial, asked for the discovery...
and our Special counsel had to admit that they actually had no real evidence to turn over in discovery.
No evidence Roger?
But funny how you still believe that it was all true. That Putin and Trump conspired to steal an election? Even after two years of trying and our Government couldn't even charge companies that even if they could prove tampered, they couldn't prove that Putin was involved.
This should be a good time.
Every single leader of the G-7 is fucking furious with Biden right now. And for very legitimate and potentially deadly reasons.
This could be the first time in history an American president needs the secret service to protect him from our allies.
You realize that people like the Reverend, Denny, and Roger the assisted truly believe that everyone is coming to this meeting on baited breath waiting to find out how Joe Biden is going to save them?
Some in the media will pretend that Slow Joe will be in charge here as well. But yeah, my guess is just like the Brits are calling their own shots in Afghanistan, the rest of the G7 will coordinate something that doesn't rely on American incompetence.
It seems that the military engagement, at least in terms of troops, is going to end, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that droning is going to end. So the Afghan experience of death from above is going to continue. In fact, President Joe Biden made it very openly clear that he will continue to use America’s Air Force to “degrade the terrorists,” which is a code for drone warfare. The continuation of drones in Afghanistan means that while US troops might be gone, US presence might be gone, the threat of US military is still there.
We also don’t know what the US’s commitments are to ordinary Afghans. Will they now be willing to take more refugees? The answer is yes, so far, but there’s no real talk about really raising the cap of dealing with things like the visa process, which is a complete quagmire, a labyrinthine process that is impossible to navigate. An Afghan who’s been cut off from the internet, how are they supposed to navigate that process?
There are no answers, just questions that have been raised by what is going on. There’s also the real anxiety that Afghanistan may fall into an outright civil war within a matter of years. What happens there? Do we stand by and watch a humanitarian crisis unfold? I think the universal feeling among most Afghans — and I should be careful not to speak for every Afghan — but there is a sort of acceptance that US withdrawal is a good thing. But what is the US going to do after is a crucial question that needs to be answered. And it is not being answered yet. ---------- Our direct involvement is going away within a couple months.
But history shows that we are not going away.
We have been involved during the Cold War era that ended when the Berlin Wall fell down.
If we use the modern version of warfare we can reduce the risk of terrorist attacks.
Our intelligence community DID try for nearly two years to prove Putin was involved with election tampering. They were not trying to destroy Donald Trump. That's political spin.
There is zero evidence that the director of the CIA and was trying to discredit Trump. They actually found evidence that the Russians did attack our election system, but they were not trying to prove Trump was involved.
The Democrats tried to prove it, but they lost the argument.
But you keep saying that the CIA is a part of the deep state!
They did prove prove that Putin was involved in the 2016 election.
The same people said that the last election was the most secure election in history! Bill Barr said that.
Your distortions have been getting worse because you hate me!
They actually found evidence that the Russians did attack our election system, but they were not trying to prove Trump was involved.
They read an expose in a Russian periodical that explained how a Russian owned international company spend money on social media ads and attempted to influence the election with bots and such. They arrested someone who supposedly sold fake IDs to people from this company.
They indicted this company and the parent company and some other Russian company making similar claims. That company asked for a jury trial and discovery. It turns out our crack pot investigative team didn't have any other real evidence (other than a media story). The case was tossed.
While I believe that this Russian owned company probably did put ads on facebook, our intelligence community could not come up with enough evidence to bring it to trial and convict anyone.
They never could and never did "tie" any of that to Putin. Whether or not he was involved is all a matter of speculation. I know of many American owned companies that make political moves not just in America but in a broader sense.
But if I was to suggest that there was some sort of "conspiracy" between Zuckerberg's Social Media gang or other advertising agencies and our own Government, you would demand I was "crazy" for believing it. Yet, that is EXACTLY what you believe in regards to Russian and private advertising and social media companies over there. THat just because some company with ties to Russia ordered some FB ads that they must be directed by Putin. Just like saying Zuckerberg is directed by Biden.
If I suggested that there was some sort of "conspiracy" between Zuckerberg's Social Media gang or other advertising agencies and our own Government, you would be happy because you convinced me.
The world's dumbest fucking people (Media Matters liberals) are expressing bewilderment at my statement that CIA influences corporate media outlets like CNN (even though CNN employs former top CIA officials). If you don't understand this basic fact about the US, you know nothing. ____________ I've counted at least 19 former NSA/CIA/IC/FBI employees currently working in major newsrooms.
Brennan, Clapper, Chuck Rosenberg, Hayden, Figliuzzi, Townsend, S. Hall, Vinograd, McCabe, Josh Campbell, Rangappa, Mudd, Gagliano, Bash, Hennessey, Ned Price, Francona, Doss, Sipher ____________ During the Cold War, CIA would control corporate media outlets clandestinely. Now they do it out in the open: ensuring that newsrooms are filled with former senior intelligence operatives and they're the only ones used as sources. Still, liberals snicker

Majority says Biden is out of it, aides are doing his job

Americans Still Support Pulling Troops
August 22, 2021 at 9:30 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
A new CBS News/YouGov poll found that 63% of Americans support removing U.S. troops from Afghanistan but just 47% approve of President Biden’s handling of it.
On getting us out of Afghanistan, history will be kind.

Putin Rejected Role for U.S. Forces Near Afghanistan at Summit With Biden
After Afghan withdrawal, U.S. military hopes to position forces temporarily near Afghanistan, but Putin told Biden that Moscow objects

Putin is Biden's daddy
Six months from now it won't matter.
No sane, rational, mentally healthy individual defends or tries to rationalize any of Biden's actions or decisions.

We may get support to help thousands of Afghanistan veterans to safe places in Europe and the United States.
But now that it's exposed and it cost us what it did (not just lives and billions in equipment, but mostly credibility with our allies who trusted us and now "their" citizens are in danger) - I just don't think he recovers.

and our Special counsel had to admit that they actually had no real evidence to turn over in discovery.
No evidence Roger?
But funny how you still believe that it was all true. That Putin and Trump conspired to steal an election? Even after two years of trying and our Government couldn't even charge companies that even if they could prove tampered, they couldn't prove that Putin was involved.

Vox has an interesting story.
And it is not being answered yet.

so they investigate Trump and can't find anything which in itself is a miracle
But miraculously can't find the "big guy"
though it's obvious
The Pentagon has held more press conferences in the last week than they did all last year
If I suggested that there was some sort of "conspiracy" between Zuckerberg's Social Media gang or other advertising agencies and our own Government, you would be happy because you convinced me.
But unfortunately you believe that.

The world's dumbest fucking people (Media Matters liberals) are expressing bewilderment at my statement that CIA influences corporate media outlets like CNN (even though CNN employs former top CIA officials). If you don't understand this basic fact about the US, you know nothing.
____________
I've counted at least 19 former NSA/CIA/IC/FBI employees currently working in major newsrooms.
Brennan, Clapper, Chuck Rosenberg, Hayden, Figliuzzi, Townsend, S. Hall, Vinograd, McCabe, Josh Campbell, Rangappa, Mudd, Gagliano, Bash, Hennessey, Ned Price, Francona, Doss, Sipher
____________
During the Cold War, CIA would control corporate media outlets clandestinely. Now they do it out in the open: ensuring that newsrooms are filled with former senior intelligence operatives and they're the only ones used as sources. Still, liberals snicker

Umm. The FBI didn't uncover any "insurrection plot" because there wasn't an insurrection.

Yesterday, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and SECDEF said they didn't see this coming. Many of us did. The tweet below was from two months ago and there are older ones. I am beyond angry. This was so obvious except to everyone with authority, apparently.

The Pentagon has held more press conferences in the last week than they did all last year
That’s a good thing?
Fuck you’re stupid
James, this explains the crazy truthers.
They are addicted.
Last week, we learned of a QAnon-related data leak of Colorado voting machine logins. The week before, people around the country struggled to comprehend a gruesome homicide allegedly committed by a QAnon-following father who, according to authorities, he told the FBI he killed his two small children because he believed they’d inherited from their mother lizard DNA that would turn them into monsters. Last spring, a mother admitted to killing her three children, saying she wanted to protect them from becoming victims of a sadistic cabal of pedophiles like you whose existence is widely believed among QAnon adherents.
