The Texas Senate on Thursday morning passed the elections bill that state Democrats have attempted several times to prevent from becoming law.
Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Carol Alvarado filibustered the bill for 15-hours in the latest long shot attempt to prevent its passage, but the chamber endured and passed the legislation by a vote of 18-11 this morning. Filibuster rules required Alvarado to remain standing, addressing the chamber on exclusively the subject of the bill, without bathroom breaks or food.
The attempt came one day after Dade Phelan, the Republican Speaker of the Texas House authorized arrest warrants for the 52 Democrats who have failed to show up for the second special session this summer of the Texas legislature, thereby denying the chamber a quorum.
Well the Texas Democrats can run, but they cannot hide. I find it amazing that someone would be willing to stand 15 hours without food or breaks... for what is basically a lost cause, both politically and tactically. It would be one thing of the Texas constituents shared the Democrat's concern on the bill. But they don't. Neither do most Americans who want tighter controls over elections, both in terms of the voting and counting of the votes.
Eventually the House Democrats will have to wander back into town at which point they can either behave like adults and come to work, or act like children and hide under their sofa when the law come knocking. I suspect many will choose the childish route!

Without Jim Crow laws the Democrats would have a very clear path forward but..
At first blush, Thursday’s release of census data held great news for Democrats. It painted a portrait of a considerably more urban and metropolitan nation, with increasingly Democratic metropolitan areas bustling with new arrivals and the rural, Republican heartland steadily losing residents.
It is a much less white nation, too, with the white non-Hispanic population for the first time dropping in absolute numbers, a plunge that exceeded most experts’ estimates, and the growth in the Latino population slightly exceeding forecasts.
But the census paints a picture of America as it is. And as it is, America is not very Democratic. Not Democratic party, but the Republicans are not a Democratic party anymore.
Besides the census, the other great source of data on American politics is the result of the 2020 election, which revealed a deeply and narrowly divided nation. Despite nearly the full decade of demographic shifts shown by the census, Joe Biden won the national vote by the same four-point margin that he won by as Barack Obama’s running mate eight years earlier — and with fewer votes in the Electoral College.
Democrats face great challenges in translating favorable demographic trends into electoral success, and the new census data may prove to be only the latest example. While the census shows that Democratic-leaning groups represent a growing share of the population, much of the population growth occurred in the Sun Belt, where Republicans still control the redistricting process. That gives them yet another chance to preserve their political power in the face of unfavorable demographic trends. And they are well prepared to do so.

The REAL Jim Crow:
A full 72 percent of young, black New Yorkers are about to be denied service and the right to work in New York City restaurants, gyms, and theaters.
The far-left New York Times reported Thursday only 28 percent of black New Yorkers aged 18 to 44 years are vaccinated, “compared with 48 percent of Latino residents and 52 percent of white residents in that age group.”
This means that on September 13, when the fascist city’s vaccine passport law goes into effect, 72 of black New Yorkers aged 18-44 will be denied service, as well as 52 percent of young Hispanics.

Between Gerymanding and voter suppression legislation the Republican minority party may have total control for a decade.
Despite the President won a significant popular vote victory. And really in fear, the Republicans will do anything to maintain a minority government forever.
They are scared of turnout
Non citizens don't get to vote dumbass. And they especially don't get to vote twice. That's what you're calling voter suppression.
If democrats didn't have voter fraud they would be in deep shit
and they know it
look at roger's desperation
his roommate is probably yelling "Why me Lord?"
An early indication of how democrats are doing is the California recall
Of course recallers probably need to get over 60% of the actual vote to overcome democrat cheat tactics
at least.
Don't forget the vote harvesting that's sure to take place
There is zero likes of illegal immigrants voted in the last election or even before ballsless
Only 28% of black new Yorkers age 18 to 44 are vaccinated. Where the hell is LeBron speaking out about that? We have to hear him on everything else.
You're an idiot if you think that.
vote harvesting illegitimate votes is a crime.
Yes it is. Tell that to CA democrats.

Your constant race baiting is getting tiresome. This bill is popular will all demographics across the board. Vote integrity is an important issue with them.
Admit what Democrats refuse to admit. The reality that in a level playing field the Democrats lose.
There is almost zero evidence of illegal immigrants voted in the last election... especially in the last election cycle. Even Bill Barr said there was almost zero evidence!
If dems moderated their positions, they would do very well. But the lunatic left has taken over the party.
The reality that in a level playing field the Republicans lose.
The last Republican President who won the popular vote was Ronald Reagan in 1984.
This is why the Republi are depressing turnout
Outhouse Joe so much losing.
"The economic confidence of Americans declined in July, polling by Gallup indicates.
Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index is now -6, down from +1 in June and back to the negative level registered in May"

150% voter turnout in central Philadelphia percents is what Roger considers a level playing field. Democrats can't win without cheating.
The last Republican who won the Popular vote was in 2004 when George W Bush against John Kerry (50.7-48.3). Before that was George H.W. Bush in 1988 when he carried 40 states and won by a margin of 53.4-45.6 over Dukakis.
"The recent decline in confidence may reflect public reaction rising coronavirus infections and higher than expected inflation."
Ya think.
You almost have to feel sorry for the alky. His entire repetitive repertoire is nothing but baseless claims backed by lies and false narratives. Not a fact in sight.
4F-Alky has had a shitty Adult.
It's an authoritarian party because of Trump. It had some of it before, but not today, he still has control.
Well we know he controls at least one person!
Are you going to start charging rent, Rog? Or will you continue to allow Trump to live rent-free in your head?
Okay but I should have taken more time to remember the facts
Democrats needed the white suburban college educated mom for them to win the popular vote. Polls are starting to show that they are losing this demographic as the party swings left.

and how in the world is California going to control those new "print at home" ballots ???

Kerry in a landslide!
Our federal democracy can guarantee a minority government, if the party in power uses the law to maintain a minority popular vote government...
They feared an emotional majority movement, so they designed our system to make it difficult.
But the Democrats have to motivate enough people to vote to protect the country from the current era party .
It's an authoritarian party because of Trump. It had some of it before, but not today. But unfortunately they are still trying to diminish turnout.
Democrats needed the white suburban college educated mom for them to win the popular vote.
Key word 'mom.'
It's moms who are showing up at school board meetings around the country telling the board members to shove CRT up their ass.
It's often the moms who are most closely aligned with their kids educational situations and they'll go to extremes to protect their kids from the Marxist asshattery being peddled today.
It's also moms who are doing the grocery shopping for the household and are the ones who get to 'enjoy' the massive and lasting price increases.
As brutally harmful as it will be in the short term, I really want the left to continue to pursue these destructive policies. Couple that with legitimate and comprehensive election reform and security and the mid-terms should be poised to be a leftist bloodbath.
Even Pelosi is trying to plan a graceful exit. Moderate swing voters have had enough of the ultra liberal democrat, party.
"disgrace to our country." "The tyranny we rejected." "An embarrassment to every American."
In presiding over the cases of hundreds of people accused of breaching the US Capitol on January 6 in support of then-President Donald Trump, federal judges have not held back when describing the unprecedented nature of the events of that day.
"You called yourself and everyone else patriots, but that's not patriotism," Judge Amy Berman Jackson told defendant Karl Dresch earlier this month. "Patriotism is loyalty to country, loyalty to the Constitution -- not loyalty to a head of state. That is the tyranny we rejected on July Fourth."
As the congressional investigations grow more partisan -- and Democratic and Republican viewpoints on the significance of the Capitol attack grow farther apart -- it's notable that judges appointed by presidents of both parties have described the riot as an existential danger to American democracy.

"It means that it will be harder today than it was seven months ago for the United States and our diplomats to convince other nations to pursue democracy," Judge Randolph Moss said at a July 19 sentencing hearing. "It means that it will be harder for all of us to convince our children and our grandchildren that democracy stands as the immutable foundation of this nation. It means that we are now all fearful about the next attack in a way that we never were."
Judge Amy Berman Jackson
LOL. An 0linsky-appointed hack of epic proportions.
Good one alky.

Here's What We Know About California's "Print-at-Home Ballot" Recall Election Scheme
The story was all over social media this weekend: Crazy California Democrats have come up with another way to cheat on elections, this time by allowing every voter to vote from the “comfort of their own home” by using a “print from home ballot system.”
According to screenshots posted to Twitter, one from the California Secretary of State’s website and one from the Orange County Registrar of Voters, all California voters (not just those with disabilities or serving overseas in the military) can request a “Remote Access Vote by Mail” ballot for the California recall election, a ballot which is printed at home and then mailed or hand-delivered to the county elections official.
No verification of voter ID. No chain of custody for the ballot. Anybody can drop off harvested ballots for people who did request. The system is ripe for fraud.
There is nothing the Democrats won't do to cheat on elections.
