German Chancellor Angela Merkel and members of her government condemned the Biden administration’s catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan in harsh terms. The debacle in Afghanistan was “an extremely bitter development. Bitter, dramatic and terrifying,” Chancellor Merkel said while speaking to reporters on Tuesday.
“It is a terrible development for the millions of Afghans who want a more liberal society,” she said. “I am thinking of the pain of families of soldiers who lost their lives fighting there. Now everything seems so hopeless.” In her sharpest attack on Biden’s decision yet, the German chancellor suggested that the Biden administration’s hasty and messy withdrawal was motivated by “domestic political reasons” rather than geostrategic necessities.
The head of Merkel’s Christian Democratic party (CDU) and chancellor candidate in the next month’s general election, Armin Laschet, had even harsher words for Biden’s failure in Afghanistan. “It’s the biggest debacle that NATO has suffered since its creation and it’s a change of era that we are confronted with,” he said.
We all understand that criticism of Biden is always rooted in racism, conservative talk radio, or hate. It's never justified. Always wrong. So now we have this white racist women pretending to not be getting her talking points directly from the ghost of Rush Limbaugh!
But either way, this is a sign that even international opinion is negative when it comes to Biden's flawed Afghanistan move. It's not just the long term concepts that Merkel is complaining about, but the short term problems coming from not adequately preparing for evacuations, etc.
When a liberal American President loses the European leadership support.... well they lost.

I just saw this on MSNBC.
Gen. Mark Milley said that intelligence assessments showed the rapid collapse of the Afghan government and security forces was a possibility, but they ranged from weeks to months to even years following U.S. departure, CNN reports.
Said Milley: “There was nothing that I, or anyone else, saw that indicated a collapse of this army and this government in 11 days.”
Even the Democrats are going to investigate Biden's actions.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Bob Menendez (D-NJ) said he would hold hearings into the “flawed” U.S. troop withdrawal of Afghanistan, Axios reports.
“Menendez, who blamed both the Biden and Trump administrations for the crisis unfolding in the Taliban-controlled country, is one of three top Democrats who head Senate committees who’ve vowed to investigate the Afghanistan crisis.”
Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) and Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA.) also pledged hearings and investigations.

An exercise in throwing the generals under the bus. Although they do deserve it. But it's not just the generals. It's the embedded foreign policy establishment of deep state DOD and State Department "professionals" that keeps their civil service standing from administration to administration. They actually thought they can use the arm forces to national build. These people are immune to failure and if they don't pay for the consequence of failure then nothing changes.
Christ did none of them read about the British failure in Afghanistan? Ot at least look at the Soviet Union experience?
They don't call Afghanistan the grave yard of super powers for nothing.
"Menendez, who blamed both the Biden and Trump administrations for the crisis unfolding in the Taliban-controlled country, is one of three top Democrats who head Senate committees who’ve vowed to investigate the Afghanistan crisis.”
The one thing that will guarantee a Republican take over of the senate is the false equivocation between Biden and Trump.
At least Trump had a different idea and negotiated a phased withdrawal of troops. Biden bugged out.
This will trigger another conspiracy theory bullshit
As debate over public health mandates simmers around the country, new polling shows nearly 2 out of every 3 Americans say they support their state or local government requiring masks in all public places to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The Axios/Ipsos poll released Tuesday found that 64% of Americans overall favored such requirements, compared with 35% who said they were opposed. Support for masking was even stronger when it came to requiring face coverings at school. Pollsters found that 69% of Americans were supportive of requiring teachers, students and administrators to wear masks.
All the evidence on the last two weeks showed that even if Trump had followed the same path that he had already negotiated, that the same thing would have happened.

Both of them were acts of isurrection.
As debate over public health mandates simmers around the country, new polling shows nearly 2 out of every 3 Americans say they support their state or local government requiring masks in all public places to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
And yet the most popular governors are not enforcing any mask mandate. They are following the science that says mask wearing is in effected in stopping the spread.
Something the blue states are discovering (again). Like last year with global mask wearing, social distancing the spread of the virus was halted one bit.
I really suspect this poll is skewed (in a big way) toward mindless "Karen's" who voted for Biden.

Except 1. We would have had time to evacuate all of the American nationals in Afghanistan and
2. We would have had time to evacuate all of the interpreters and other Afghan nationals who worked and
3.The weapons and a equipment the Afghan Army couldn't used was not fall into the hands of the Taliban and
4. What make you think Trump would have allowed the Taliban to launch a successful military. He would have resurgent the Troops and rained fire from the sky before he'd let that. Trump doesn't want to look like a fool or looser. He'd move heaven and earth before he let that happen.
One more thing under Trump Bagram air base wouldn't have been shut down until the very last minute. With Biden he shut it down two weeks ago which prevent air sorties against the Taliban and made it useless as an evacuation center.

“How many more lives, American lives, is it worth?” President Biden asked the American public this week, defending his administration’s reckless abandonment of Afghanistan. But what about those Afghans who risked their lives to protect our soldiers, contractors, and embassy personnel? Are their lives not worth something? We are the most powerful nation on the face of the earth. Can we really do nothing to evacuate those who stood with us for twenty years?
What good does it do to have 6000 well-armed soldiers on the tarmac of Hamid Karzai International Airport when the people they are supposed to help leave are being beaten back on the streets of Kabul? There will be plenty of time to assess who was to blame in this fiasco—and resignations should come—but our duty now is to get as many people out as we can, even if it means risking American casualties.
PODCAST
Alexander S. Vindman: Why I Testified
We have a limited amount of time to accomplish the task. But the military assures us that we can fly as many as 9,000 people out daily. We can’t possibly check papers, do security checks, or even demand passports from those seeking safe transit—news reports suggest that many Afghans who had begun the process of applying for the Special Immigrant Visas had their paperwork, including passports, destroyed when we abandoned our embassy. The vetting that would normally take place in country will have to be handled once the Afghans arrive safely in third-party countries like Qatar, Albania, and Kosovo, where discussions are underway to house them temporarily. An operation this big—we are looking at some 80,000 or more people, including dependents of those who worked directly or indirectly for the U.S. government—will require resources and personnel working round the clock. But there are also organizations who are willing to help: non-governmental agencies, churches, mosques, civic groups.
This is not the first influx of tens of thousands of refugees the United States has dealt with. When Vietnamese whom we’d left behind started fleeing their homeland after the Vietnam War, we managed to evacuate 125,000 in fast order, and over the next 15 years successfully admitted 500,000 such refugees. I saw this first-hand in 1978 when two brothers who had fled Vietnam by boat came to live with me for a short time. I picked up the scared young men at Dulles Airport, clad in short-sleeve shirts, khakis, and flip flops, despite the freezing weather. Like so many of their contemporaries, these men went on to lead exemplary lives, acquiring education, becoming citizens, and contributing to their communities and the country. One of them recently retired from a career as an FBI computer specialist.
There is no reason we cannot do the same thing for these Afghans.
The politics of admitting Afghan refugees will not be easy. Already, the trolls at Fox News are warning of invading hordes. But neither was admitting so many Vietnamese. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter doubled the number of Southeast Asian refugees the United States admitted. As one of those refugees wrote four decades years later: “A poll from CBS and The New York Times showed that 62% of Americans disapproved. He did it anyway.” And so should President Biden.

So now we have Biden on 5v saying he knew it would be a shit storm while the Pentagon is on tv saying there was no Intel saying there would be. Someone is lying.
The right wing nutcase Red Scare is back. Because of this event.
This week, thousands of Taliban, ISIS, and al Qaida prisoners have been freed to plot murderous jihad attacks against the West, and the Taliban will undoubtedly cozy up to communist China, which seeks to advance its Belt and Road Initiative. The humanitarian casualties in the wake of the Taliban takeover will undoubtedly be severe and appalling, but it’s important to understand that the mission in Afghanistan was never strictly humanitarian or about “nation-building,” contrary to popular opinion and some particularly awful political messaging by Republicans in recent years. It was about the geopolitical value of Afghanistan as a matter of national security interest, ensuring not only that Afghanistan would not be a safe haven for terrorists who would attack America and its allies in the West as they did on 9/11, but that there would be maintenance of a friendly government there rather than the fascist tyranny of the hostile Taliban.
The comparison between Saigon and Kabul will continue because it’s apt. America has indeed abandoned Afghanistan to the Taliban as it once abandoned South Vietnam, and with it, Joe Biden has similarly abandoned American diplomatic and military credibility on the world stage, making us and our allies much weaker.
It doesn’t matter if you believe that or not. What matters is how our enemies see things, and their perception is reality. As the Global Times correctly asserts, the Taiwanese would be wise to heed the lesson in Afghanistan:
The geopolitical value of Afghanistan is no less than that of Taiwan island… Once a cross-Straits war breaks out while the mainland [China] seizes the island with forces, the US would have to have a much greater determination than it had for Afghanistan, Syria, and Vietnam if it wants to interfere.
Within one day of Kabul’s fall to the Taliban, our allies in Taiwan, the Chinese communists, and the rest of the world know well that the America that once sought “peace through strength” is dead and gone, now only a memory -- a shadow of its former self that’s as frail and feeble as its current president.
“When the forces of freedom are weak,” Reagan warned, “tyrants are tempted.” The question is not whether tyrants will be tempted, but the extent to which they are willing to go to exploit the weakness that they now undoubtedly sense.

Withdrawing From Afghanistan May Be The One Thing Biden And Trump Agree On
August 18, 20215:00 AM ET
Ron Elving
President Biden and his predecessor, former President Donald Trump, agree that American troops should leave Afghanistan.
In Afghanistan the world is witnessing disastrous consequences associated with a rare area of agreement between President Biden and his predecessor, Donald Trump.
Both presidents saw the 20-year war in the remote and rugged country as an unwelcome inheritance and an albatross. For Trump it was the prime example of the "forever wars" he promised to end, a salient promise of his "America First" campaign. Frustrated in his initial efforts to truncate the U.S. mission, Trump finally bypassed the Afghan government to negotiate directly with the Taliban. HUGE MISTAKE. The deal with them that he signed on Feb. 29, 2020 promised to pull all U.S. troops out by May 1, 2021.
Biden did not reverse this course when he took office, ANOTHER HUGE MISTAKE although he did push back the pull-out to September. He wanted more time to remove U.S. forces and, if necessary, evacuate U.S. civilians as well as Afghan interpreters and others who helped the U.S. war effort. He was advised he would have a period of weeks or months to do this after September.
It turned out, the Taliban had a schedule of their own.
It also turned out that the Afghan army the U.S. built, trained and equipped had been largely abandoned by its own government. Reportedly left without food and other supplies, much of the army simply ceded the battlefield to the Taliban, first in the hinterlands, then in the towns, then in the cities. There seemed to be little loyalty to the elected Afghan government, whose leader Ashraf Ghani fled the country before the Taliban entered the capital and took over his palace.
So when we thought we had months to get out, we had weeks. When we thought we had weeks, we had days. When we thought we still had a few days, we had hours.
The Taliban did not fight their way into Kabul; they drove in. There were commuters in American cities who found it harder driving in to work the next day.
It seems no one foresaw all this happening this fast.
But someone has to deal with the general failure. Someone has to cope with the hundreds of Americans and international workers still in Afghanistan who want to go their home countries — and untold thousands of Afghans who want to leave theirs.
Biden's "America First" moment?
Biden stood up on Monday and said "the buck stops here." But he made clear he thought that buck had been passed to him by plenty of other people. He acknowledged that the U.S. footprint was now confined to the Hamid Karzai International Airport. He seemed stunned by the scenes of chaos there, the tarmac awash with would-be refugees, some so desperate they clung to an aircraft as it took off.
Yet Biden remained adamant about getting out of Afghanistan, even given the catastrophe on view on screens the world over.
Four presidents over two decades have found themselves mired in Afghanistan, wondering when they might get out. Biden grasped the nettle like no other. And he may well face the political consequences each of his predecessors managed to sidestep.
President George W. Bush first sent troops to overthrow the Taliban then in power after they had harbored al-Qaida prior to the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Thereafter, his attention turned to invading Iraq and a larger struggle there. But he kept enough troops in Afghanistan to keep the lid on and move toward building an indigenous army and democracy (while denying it was "nation building").
Elected in 2008, Barack Obama surged the U.S. fighting force to more than 90,000 in his first term, then drew it down aggressively after winning his second. Biden, his vice president, was opposed to the build-up and favored the drawdown.
Neither Bush nor Obama wanted "Who lost Afghanistan?" questions to haunt their own reelection prospects. And indeed, they did not.
Trump's turn to the Taliban
Trump, by contrast, seemed more anxious about voters asking why the U.S. had not left Afghanistan.
In his 2020 book The Room Where It Happened, John Bolton, Trump's national security adviser in 2018 and 2019, depicts Trump as determined to deal with the Taliban. He recalls Trump trying to bring Taliban leaders to Camp David for negotiations in September 2019, eventually dropping that plan, and then reviving its outline in what became the Feb. 29, 2020 agreement.
"This deal is entirely Trump's," Bolton wrote of that agreement. "Time will tell who is right, and the full effects of the deal may not become apparent until after Trump leaves office. But there should be no mistaking this reality: Trump will be responsible for the consequences, politically and militarily."
Bolton, long known as a hardliner in previous Republican administrations, has since expressed his scorn for Biden's policy and Trump's, in the wake of events in Kabul.
H.R. McMaster, a retired Army general who preceded Bolton as national security adviser, has also linked the Trump and Biden approaches to Afghanistan. He told a Wilson Center interviewer on Aug. 12 that a "sound strategy" he helped devise for Afghanistan in 2017 had been "abandoned" in "capitulation negotiations conducted under Ambassador [Zalmay] Khalilzad" — Trump's special envoy to Afghanistan who was retained in that role by the Biden administration.
So intense was Trump's intention to withdraw that he persisted even after the 2020 election. According to a report published by Axios in May, Trump signed a memo in November that would have withdrawn all U.S. troops by mid-January (just five days before his term was to end). His top national security team, civilian and military, persuaded him not to issue the order but to leave the withdrawal date at May 1.
Trump has since said none of the current mayhem in Kabul would be happening if he were still president. Researchers will need to ascertain how many exit visas for Afghans had already been arranged before Trump left office, or what sort of procedures he might have had in place for Americans and Afghans wishing to leave. But lacking such evidence, and given Trump's timetable and concessions made to the Taliban, it is easier to imagine the current situation happening that much sooner.
Trump in fact had complained at his June 26 rally in Ohio that the Biden administration was dragging its feet and ought to get out faster.
Fumbling at the goal line?
There is a case to be made that Biden is less responsible for this fiasco than any of the previous three presidents. But he is the one who fumbled at the goal line, as it were, at the crucial moment of the game from the perspective of media and politics.
While an Economist/YouGov poll this June found only 1 American in 5 opposed to the U.S. withdrawing from Afghanistan, a Morning Consult survey that followed the fall of Kabul found a plurality of 45% opposed to withdrawal if it meant a Taliban takeover.
It can also be said that by the time Biden was carrying the ball, it was more like being left holding the bag.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday suggested for the first time that he's willing to keep US forces in Afghanistan until all American citizens who want to leave are out of the country, but stopped short of making the same commitment to the United States' Afghan partners.
In an interview with ABC News, Biden said Americans should expect for all US citizens in Afghanistan to be evacuated by August 31, the deadline the administration has set for ending the nation's longest war.
Asked if Americans should understand that US forces may be in Afghanistan past August 31, the President responded "No, Americans should understand that we're going to try and get it done before August 31."
But, he added, "if there's American citizens left, we're going to stay until we get them all out."

At this point, the only way to get the Biden regime to bring home the thousands of Americans trapped in Afghanistan is to tell the regime those Americans waved a flag in front of the Capitol on January 6. The FBI would have them all back on American soil by the weekend.

179 Reasons You Probably Don’t Need to Panic About Inflation https://nyti.ms/37Srjpp
Top military officials, for example, are furious at Biden’s national security team because they wanted to start evacuating vulnerable Afghans as early as May but were not allowed to do so, multiple officials told NBC News. After their advice not to pull out was disregarded, Pentagon brass sought to exit as soon as possible in the interest of troop safety and planned to get all troops out by as early as July 4, according to a senior official.
As the July date approached, the White House grew concerned and ordered the military to delay and keep troops until Aug. 31, the official said.
On Wednesday, Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley said that the Afghan government fell faster than anyone expected.
“Intelligence clearly indicated multiple scenarios were possible: one of those was an outright Taliban takeover following a rapid collapse of the Afghan Security Forces and the government,” Milley told reporters at the Pentagon. "However, the timeframe of a rapid collapse, that was widely estimated and ranged from weeks, months, and even years following our departure. There was nothing that I or anybody else saw that indicated a collapse of this army and this government in 11 days.”
A senior intelligence official also said Wednesday that the Afghan government “unraveled even more quickly than we anticipated.”
But the official added: “We consistently identified the risk of a rapid collapse of the Afghan government. We also grew more pessimistic about the government’s survival as the fighting season progressed.”
CIA officials were taken aback by the rapid pace of the military’s pullout, including the dead-of-night withdrawal from Bagram Air Base in July, according to a former official. And many officials are expressing annoyance at the State Department, which officials say was extremely slow in processing the paperwork needed to deal with Afghan translators and others eligible for resettlement.
“Interagency coordination, especially among warfighters, diplomats and intelligence officers, is critical at times like this,” the former official said. “Obviously, it was deficient.”
Your morning Pjmedia LMAO.
Biden Is Losing His Besties
Happy Thursday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. I’ll be spending the weekend making dream-catchers for people who suffer from sinus challenges.
We could all use a distraction from reality lately. I’m a huge fan of them. My big worry lately is that if I stay distracted for too long that I will no longer recognize reality upon my return.
Alleged President Biden has the power to warp things that quickly.
The insidious relationship between the hacks in the mainstream media and Joe Biden has been a bit rough even on my cast-iron gut. From the moment that it was obvious that he was going to be the nominee, I knew that the MSM would be working overtime to prop him up. What we’ve endured thus far has been worse than what we saw during the Obama years. They just looked the other way a lot when The Lightbringer was in office. This year they’ve been creating a president out of whole cloth.
Anyone over the age of six and who possesses an IQ above 14 can see that that almost — and I’m being generous with that — every nanosecond of the Biden presidency has been an unmitigated disaster. Bless their hearts, the MSM has soldiered along, pretending that Biden is awake, competent, and in charge.
Until this week.
I’m not saying that the love affair is over but after Biden’s complete and utter failure overseeing the withdrawal from Afghanistan, they seem to be in need of couples counseling. I reported in the first two Briefings this week that CNN’s Jake Tapper — usually a loyal Democratic lapdog — had criticized the administration two days in a row. That alone should have been a harbinger of public relations doom for Team Biden.
Earlier in the week The New York Times — aka “The Official Publication of the Democratic National Committee” — almost flirted with saying something negative about Joe Biden.
Those incidents may not seem like much to many people, but you could employ a staff of hundreds to search for the last time CNN and the Times criticized a Democratic president on consecutive days and they’d be busy for quite some time.
The very large, very powerful NBC News organization has long been the most reliably biased haven on television for the Democrats. It’s home to the pathetic likes of Brian Williams, Rachel Maddow, and Chuck Todd, after all.
Even Chuckster couldn’t crank up the spin cycle all the way this week. A.J. Kaufman has that story:
In a rare move, left-leaning NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd criticized Joe Biden Tuesday, claiming the chaotic abandonment of Afghanistan damaged the president’s purported image of political competency, especially compared to former President Donald Trump.
“I do think the biggest political fallout is competency,” the Meet the Press host explained. “Joe Biden’s greatest strength against Donald Trump in the campaign was the idea that he has been around the block, he knows what he’s doing, we’re facing this crisis with COVID, we need some basic competency back in government, no more chaos. He’s lost the competency high-marks that he was getting at one time, and that’s tough to get back.”
All you need to know about how strange it is that Todd is saying something negative about Biden is the fact that he admits that he’s been giving Ol’ Gropes high marks until now. Chuck is finally realizing that the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes. For the moment, anyway.
Team Biden tried to throw the U.S. intelligence community under the bus in an attempt to cover for the empty husk that is polluting the Oval Office. The CIA isn’t having any of that and, once again, it’s NBC that is passing along the bad news to the administration.
We will no doubt soon be back to a place where all of the usual horrible suspects in the media are fawning over Biden’s every lazy drool, but he and his pals are definitely on a bit of break this week. They got to this point because President Puppet spent last weekend playing with his choo-choo set at Camp David while an international crisis of his making was unfolding.
It won’t be the last.
Propaganda on steroids
Can anyone help me figure out how to blame Biden for the fact that Trump's warp speed provided vaccinations need boosters?
Just 2 months ago, the Biden admin terminated a dept Trump had set up. The contingency and crisis response (CCR) team. They were formed to help Americans who are trapped in countries abroad. This is why this shit show woyld not have happened under Trump. Biden is quickly becoming the worst president in U.S. history.
And just where are these 780 ASSHOLES now???
Along with more than 780 retired high-ranking officers and former national security leaders — including 22 retired four-star generals and admirals and five former secretaries of defense — Chiarelli signed an “Open Letter to America” endorsing Joe Biden for president. “We love our country,” the signatories wrote. “Unfortunately, we also fear for it.”
https://www.yahoo.com/now/why-780-retired-generals-and-former-national-security-leaders-spoke-out-against-trump-204428356.html
Seek them out.
Doxx them.
Mock them.
And drive them from polite society.
Fucking scumbags.
The dementia president is now getting hammered for his horrible interview with Stephanopoulos. Don't say we all didn't wsrn you. This guy is not fit to be president.
It's now being astutely pointed out that our first female VP has been completely silent on what women in Afghanistan are now facing under Taliban rule. She had a huge chance here to show some real leadership while her boss shows the world what a dope he is. And she completely wiffed.
Speaking of racial tensions.
In a way, America’s classrooms have always been auxiliary battlegrounds for the country’s larger culture wars.
During Reconstruction, as the formerly enslaved, craving education, began that journey for themselves and their children, Negro schools became a favorite target of white terrorists. Many of those schools were burned to the ground.
For instance, as the Equal Justice Initiative chronicled, “In fall 1870, white mobs burned ‘nearly every colored church and schoolhouse’ in Tuskegee, Ala. In Calhoun County, Ala., that year, a white mob outraged at the growth of a local Black school lynched four Black men.”
Long after 1870, for decades, almost all education in the South and across much of the country was racially segregated. School districts fed students a full plate of racial propaganda and white supremacy with ahistorical history books that downplayed and mischaracterized slavery, barely mentioned instruments of white terror like lynching, glorified and recast the Civil War and, as The Montgomery Advertiser put it, “celebrated the violent overthrow of democratically elected, multiracial governments.”
America’s larger racial battle was playing out in the classroom.
When schools were finally ordered to integrate, that directive was met with vehement, violent opposition. One of the arguments against it was a fear of miscegenation and the production of a race of “mongrels.”
A main pillar of white supremacy is patriarchal sexism: White men justify their aggression and violence by claiming that they are merely protecting vulnerable and “defenseless” white women and children. This can, in the mind of the white terrorist, make his savagery and chicanery feel like chivalry.
And so our classrooms make perfect battlegrounds. There, guilt can be disguised as protecting the innocent.
While previous fights revolved around desegregation and busing, textbooks and curriculums or equitable school funding, the current battle is over what can be taught. Some conservatives want to call it a backlash against the teaching of the obscure concept of critical race theory, but it isn’t. The teaching of this theory in grade schools was almost nonexistent. It was a construct born in law schools. This is actually about something more fundamental: whether or not schools should teach a full and accurate history of race in America, knowing that it might cause white children discomfort as they are confronted with the reality of what some white people have done.
These conservative objectors are essentially recasting the campaign to continue teaching a white-centered, laudatory version of America’s racial history as an effort to protect innocent white children from distress.
You can see the same themes in the conservative uproar over trans people. For months, Republicans have tried to bar trans women from participating in girls’ sports in schools. G.O.P. efforts, along with other anti-L.G.B.T.Q. laws passed by Republican state legislatures this year, led the Human Rights Campaign to dub 2021 “the worst year for anti-L.G.B.T.Q. legislation in recent history.”
These bills are rooted in white supremacist ideas. As the Southern Poverty Law Center put it:
For far-right extremists, the increased visibility of transgender people is a sign of the growing “degeneracy” of the nation, wrought by “cultural Marxists,” leftists and Jews as part of an assault on white, Christian families and strict gender roles. They believe that trans people, like immigrants and nonwhites, are hastening the destruction of an idealized white, Western culture.
A panic of white masculinity and an ambient fear of white displacement and diminishment was once again disguised as a defense of girls.
This is similar to what happened in Florida in the 1950s when the state established a committee to go after the N.A.A.C.P. and link the organization to communism. When that effort failed, the committee turned its eye to rooting out gay men and lesbians in schools “on grounds that sexual and political perversion went hand in hand,” as The Tampa Bay Times put it
Again, disguising a political agenda as a disinterested effort to defend children.
Now we are seeing classrooms become a battleground over masking and vaccinations, and some demonstrations over the issue have grown violent. At first blush, the virulence of the reaction to mask mandates in schools might seem like nothing more than the usual anti-government theatrics, ginned up by right-wing politicians and commentators who have derided mask wearing as an infringement on personal liberties.
But as the Southern Poverty Law Center pointed out, “Protests against public safety measures in the pandemic created opportunities for crossover with a variety of right-wing extremist groups — militia, Boogaloo, QAnon, Proud Boys and Oath Keepers showing up.”
These groups claim they are protecting the rights of parents and keeping the government from meddling in the relationship between parent and child.
But in the end, children are just being used because the naked truth isn’t cute: Right-wing extremists and sometimes avowed white supremacists make people vulnerable and prey on the vulnerable, so they need the appearance of defending the vulnerable to balance the scales.
Thecoldheartedtruth scares the shit out of you people.
Who's speaking of racial tensions? I thought we were discussing Afghanistan.

The headline!

Nope, Bidenomics is not improving.
The Afghanistan civil war is getting worse every day. Today is their 4th of July.
Afghans waving the national flag turned out to protest in Kabul and other cities Thursday, challenging Taliban fighters in scattered demonstrations to celebrate the country’s independence from British rule.
In the capital, men and women carried the black, red and green flags of the Afghan Republic, chanting “our flag, our identity,” according to videos posted online.
Afghanistan marks its independence from Britain on Aug. 19. The Taliban, which swept to power across Afghanistan earlier this week, fly a white banner bearing the Islamic declaration of faith.
At another protest in Nangahar province in the east, a video showed one demonstrator bleeding from a gunshot wound Thursday, the Associated Press reported. It was not clear if the protester was killed.
In Asadabad in Konar province, several people were killed during a rally Thursday, Reuters reported, quoting a witness. The agency said that it was also not clear if the casualties resulted from the firing or from a stampede at the protest.
The First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, who is seeking to mobilize the anti-Taliban opposition, encouraged the demonstrators Thursday.
“Salute those who carry the national flag and thus stand for dignity of the nation,” Saleh said on Twitter.

Biden Scrambles to Tamp Down Afghanistan Panic
August 19, 2021 at 7:42 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Politico:
“Their overt adjustments include dispatching national security adviser Jake Sullivan to the press briefing Tuesday to offer more transparent answers — delivered in a more conciliatory tone than the president took in his remarks on Monday. And the White House shared a new image of the president surrounded by his national security team, countering its much-maligned weekend photo of Biden appearing isolated at Camp David amid the erupting chaos in Kabul.
“It was all part of the response to the sweep of Democrats who separated from Biden since Afghanistan fell to the Taliban over the weekend, openly criticizing him for his management of the tense wind-down of America’s 20-year troop presence in the country. Now, the administration is facing probes from three congressional committees helmed by senior Democrats and aggressive efforts by Republicans to exploit the morass overseas.”
Taliban Intensifies Search for People Who Helped U.S.
August 19, 2021 at 8:07 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
“Taliban militants
are intensifying a search for people they believe worked with U.S. and NATO forces, including among the crowds of Afghans at Kabul’s airport, and have threatened to kill or arrest their family members if they cannot find them, according to a confidential United Nations document,” the New York Times reports.
“The document, from a U.N. threat-assessment adviser, directly contradicted the militant group’s public assurances that it would not seek revenge on members and supporters of the toppled government.
“There were multiple reports that the Taliban had a list of people they wanted to question and punish — and their locations.”
You have mentioned the Vice President Harris.
Since 1980, vice presidents have used this space as a secondary office (the one in the West Wing is closer to the president and serves as the primary work space). Harris has used it to swear in Cabinet members, do interviews and to give remarks alongside the South Korean president.
But for the seven months since she was sworn in herself, Harris has mostly used the office to build a network of allies and associates that can serve two purposes: strengthen the administration’s connections with key power players and groups while building an unofficial political operation in waiting — one she could activate for a future presidential bid.
The two-for-one approach gives Harris a chance to raise her profile both within the administration and for whatever comes after. She a cany politician.
Plus the former 75 year old man has just said that he's running again!

As someone correctly said here, "As with Covid......EVERYONE IS LYING."
But the fact that "everyone is lying" and a bunch of psychopaths rule is only ONE part of the equation. The true but “culturally and politically forbidden” reality is more encompassing. Without a proper understanding, and full acknowledgment, of the true problem and reality, no real constructive change is possible.
