Time for all of us to move on and heal. That racist rock is no longer there to terrorize anyone!

University of Wisconsin-Madison removes massive rock from campus after 'racism' claims
The University of Wisconsin removed a controversial boulder from its Madison campus Friday after the Black Student Union and other activists objected to its description nearly 100 years ago with a racial slur. Chamberlin Rock, which rests atop Observatory Hill, is named after a 19th Century geologist and former university president, Thomas Crowder Chamberlin, whose work centered on glacial deposits, according to a bio on the university’s website.
In the 1920s, a slang term used to describe large dark rocks included the N-word, and it appears in coverage of the rock’s installation. University researchers did not uncover other instances in print where the rock was referred to with this word, but they said the Ku Klux Klan was active on campus at the time of the rock’s dedication, according to an article in the same newspaper published earlier this week.
"This moment is about the students, past and present, that relentlessly advocated for the removal of this racist monument," she told the Associated Press. "Now is a moment for all of us BIPOC students to breathe a sigh of relief, to be proud of our endurance, and to begin healing."

So yeah... this "rock" was so racist that they had to pay a small fortune to have someone come and literally take the rock away.  But it makes you wonder? That racist rock will still exist somewhere. Even if you break it up into little pieces you are just spreading out the hate. Will it be enough for these students that the racism is out of sight and out of mind?

Time will tell. I hope the school is offering free counseling for those who have suffered.

Your post is an anti-woke culture statement..

Wiliipidia..

Woke (/ˈwoʊk/ WOHK) is a term, originating in the United States, that originally referred to awareness about racial prejudice and discrimination. It subsequently came to encompass an awareness of other issues of social inequality, for instance regarding gender and sexual orientation. Since the late 2010s, it has also been used as a general term for left-wing political movements and perspectives which emphasise the identity politics of people of color, LGBT people, and women.

United States Congresswoman Marcia Fudge with a T-shirt reading "Stay Woke: Vote" in 2018

The phrase "stay woke" had emerged in the United States by the 1930s. Developing within African-American Vernacular English, "woke" referred to an awareness of the social and political issues affecting African Americans, especially with regards to racial prejudice and discrimination. In this form it appeared in various contexts, for instance in songs by Lead Belly and Erykah Badu. Following the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014, the phrase was popularised by Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists seeking to raise awareness about police shootings of African Americans.[1] Widely used on "Black Twitter", it gained traction as an Internet meme and was increasingly utilised by individuals who were not African American, often to signal their support for BLM; some commentators criticised this as cultural appropriation. Particularly associated with the young millennial generation, the term spread internationally and was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.

Amid its increasing adoption beyond its African American origins, the term "woke" gained broader connotations. Rather than being applied solely to racial issues, it was increasingly used as a catch-all term to describe those left-wing ideologies, often centred on the identity politics of minority groups and informed by academic movements like critical race theory, which identified themselves as being devoted to "social justice". This included BLM but also related forms of anti-racism as well as campaigns on women's and LGBT issues. The terms "woke capitalism" and "woke-washing" were coined to describe companies who signalled their support for such causes. By 2020, parts of the political right in several Western countries were using the term "woke", often in an ironic way, to describe various leftist movements and ideologies they disagreed with.

It's the same thing as CRT opposition moment..

In conjunction with the term "go broke"... "Get woke, go broke" has been used to describe the net result of private sector business hitching their corporate wagons to liberal idiocy. See Gillette and their ad campaigns, or Coca Cola and their internal training telling white people to be "less white" which resulted in people buying less Coke.

Get woke is a con, a grift, a ruse. Morons love it and embrace it; sane rational people dismiss it with laughter.

This form of Republican resistance might reasonably be deemed the “roads and bridges” school of conservatism. And to be sure, a mature and developed nation should be spending a large chunk of its infrastructure budget on maintenance. But a society that only aspires to repair old things will never be great. And fundamentally, the dysfunction, incompetence, and grift that are so visible in the infrastructure bill are inextricably linked with a lack of imagination and ambition. There is no reason that a country as wealthy and mighty as America cannot afford to both dole out money to repave a road or expand an airport and also dream up and invest in ambitious new projects. Unfortunately, our political class doesn’t care about maintaining the old or investing in the new. They only see an infrastructure bill, or any spending bill, as an opportunity to get a slice of cash for themselves.

A half-century ago, America was a country that completed great projects as a matter of course. As the nation has stumbled and decayed, it has gradually become incapable of achieving those great projects. Now, it is incapable of even conceiving them.

This is how the revolver said in opposition to the Republican support for the infrastructure bill.

The Senate will probably pass it tomorrow.

But in the House, Pelosi has a plan, but there is a split between the moderate Democrat and the liberal Democrats.

I still think both plans will pass before Thanksgiving dinner!

For the first time since February, the United States is averaging more than 100,000 new coronavirus cases a day, a resurgence that is hitting especially hard in states where large portions of the population remain unvaccinated.

The pace of new case reports slowed in the spring as vaccination efforts picked up speed. A cautious optimism returned, and the summer was supposed to bring a joyous rebound to normalcy.

But the seven-day average of new case reports has doubled in the last two weeks, according to a New York Times database, and deaths have nearly doubled, to an average of 516 a day.

The surge is tied to the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus. Vaccines provide a high degree of protection against the variant, which was first detected in India, but only half of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated.

Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has described the current stage as a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

The rise in cases has reignited debates around mandates for masks and vaccinations. In a reversal, Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, a Republican, said on Sunday that a state law banning mask mandates had been a mistake.

“It was an error to sign that law,” he said on the CBS program “Face the Nation.” “I admit that.”

Mr. Hutchinson signed the bill in April, but “facts change,” he said, “and leaders have to adjust to the new facts and the reality of what you have to deal with.”

Randi Weingarten, the head of the powerful American Federation of Teachers, also urged a reversal of her union’s position against vaccine mandates. The rising caseloads are a “public health crisis,” she said Sunday on the NBC program “Meet the Press.”

Ms. Weingarten recently traveled to Missouri and Florida, two of the hardest-hit states. “I do think that the circumstances have changed and that vaccination is a community responsibility,” she said.

She said that Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas and Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, two of the most powerful opponents of mask mandates had spread disinformation that is “hurting people in terms of their public health.”

The charge against Mr. Abbott was echoed earlier in the weekend, when officials in Austin, Texas, warned that the situation was desperate.

“We are in the single digits of I.C.U. beds available,” said Bryce Bencivengo, a spokesman for Austin’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. He said patients in emergency rooms were being forced to wait for space.

The mayor of Austin, Steve Adler, said that the crisis could have been avoided if Mr. Abbott had not barred local government officials from issuing mandates on masking.

The nation’s top infectious disease doctor, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, said on “Meet the Press” that vaccine mandates for adults were necessary to give children who were not yet eligible for inoculation a “shield of vaccinated people.” The United States has yet to authorize a vaccine for children under 12.

Pediatric cases of Covid are still a fraction compared with adults, but they have risen sharply, just as schools are preparing to reopen.

No major school districts have abandoned plans to reopen, but Dr. Fauci was blunt in his assessment. “You’ve got to protect the children,” he said.

Crazy mothrfucker Trump is getting worse

President Donald Trump's spokesperson Liz Harrington appeared on OAN Monday to claim that Americans no longer have a country.

While Trump is known for hyperbole, Harrington gave him a run for his money claiming that until there is a repair to the so-called "rigged election" America will somehow cease to exist.

She claimed that all any American wants to talk about is the 2020 election. A July Gallup poll shows that the top issue for Americans is the economy (20 percent), COVID (12 percent) and a slew of other concerns. The election and election reform ranks at 3 percent among both those polled.

The latest Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) Battleground Poll in June showed 32 percent of voters rank political polarization as one of the top two issues. The top Republican issue in that survey was about "government spending," where Democrats were more likely to say "voting rights." When asked about the election, a majority of both daily Fox viewers (56 percent) and nonviewers (69 percent) say refusing to accept the election results is an extremely or very important problem.

But according to Harrington, "we won't have a Country unless we resolve" the 2020 election.

I was sitting on an examination table at an urgent care clinic in Timonium, giving my history to a physician’s assistant. An hour later, she would call me to confirm that I was positive for COVID-19.

Given the way that I felt, it was what I expected. But it wasn’t supposed to happen: I’ve been fully vaccinated for months.

Five days earlier, I had gone to a house party in Montgomery County. There were 15 adults there, all of us fully vaccinated. The next day, our host started to feel sick. The day after that, she tested positive for COVID-19. She let all of us know right away. I wasn’t too worried. It was bad luck for my friend, but surely she wasn’t that contagious. Surely all of us were immune. I’d been sitting across the room from her. I figured I’d stay home and isolate from my family for a few days, and that would be that. And even that seemed like overkill.

Looks like the President is falling like a "rock" in the polls. Dropped about 4-5 points since May. If things are so wonderful, then why do you suppose his approvals keep going down?

Could it be that people are not happy about paying 4-5 dollars a gallon for gas? Are they unhappy about the crime waves hitting many areas of the country (including both Seattle and Minneapolis for me). You suppose young parents are not upset that they have to worry about teachers teaching their kids to be racist (or anti-racist as it were). You suppose they are not happy that a million illegals crossed the border through the first 6 months of 2021?

You suppose they are not excited about the President "declaring victory" over Covid back in May, and now talking about mask mandates and lockdowns again a couple months later?

Why do you suppose they have such little confidence that Biden will actually fix any of it?

The buck stops with the President, Rog!

Have you apologized for being wrong and calling me a pathological liar without reason again? Or do you have no real shame when it comes to that sort of thing?

So far all I've seen are the opinions of assholes like Fauci who have already squandered every last shred of whatever credibility they once had.

The truth is, you have no scientific basis for your mandate demand. All you have is political science, and we ain't buying that bullshit anymore.

Plus, if the vaccinated have a 99% chance of recovery, what the fuck are you even complaining about to begin with?

I’M PRETTY SURE THAT MUCH FEWER DEATHS MEAN THE PROBLEM IS MUCH LESS SERIOUS:

Why the U.S. Delta Wave Could Be Far Less Deadly.

The rise of the Delta variant in the U.S. has led to outbreaks of COVID-19 across the country. But as more people get vaccinated, the death toll in the fourth wave of the pandemic may not spike as high as it did in previous surges, according to experts.

Increasing vaccination rates among Americans may result in a decoupling between infections and deaths — meaning that new cases might rise more steeply than fatalities.

This trend was evident across the pond: At the peak of the U.K.’s most recent spike in mid-July, the 7-day average of new daily infections was around 47,000 cases (approaching its 60,000 peak from January). But so far this month, the country has seen around 80 deaths per day.

“In the past with that level of infection, we would have seen over 1,000 deaths a day,” said Graham Medley, PhD, professor of infectious disease modeling at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

Before vaccines, Medley said that the number of deaths was the clearest metric to assess the severity of the pandemic. But since the U.K. has fully vaccinated the majority of high-risk individuals — more than 90% of its oldest and most vulnerable populations, according to government data — “deaths are no longer the most obvious outcome of infection to the public.”

Seems like good news to me.
