Why does the President and Administration continue to lie about Afghanistan

So yesterday the state department issued a statement to all Americans in Afghanistan to stay away from the airport unless specifically personally instructed to do so. His own military has admitted that Americans have been assaulted and had their passports taken by Taliban who are controlling the entrances and exits to the airport. Live footage from media outlets show the chaos at the airport and the manner in with the Taliban are violently preventing people from entering the airport. Air travel was halted for several hours as those on the ground admitted it was unsafe to get people through and onto airplanes.  Reports by multiple outlets monitoring the air traffic stated that only military and high ranking Americans were currently able to board airplanes. Thousands remain stranded and unable to get to the airport.

Yet Joe Biden continues to tell people that Americans are coming and going and that the Taliban was fully cooperating with American officials.

We have heard several international leaders openly criticize the US withdrawal in Afghanistan, including scathing public remarks by Merkel (posted yesterday) and some less than nice public statements by Boris Johnson. Germany and the U.K. are certainly some of our most important international allied.

The President demanded that the international community is behind him 100% and have been universally complementary as to how America has been handling this.

I could go on and on... but you get the point.

The question becomes, why is the President lying so openly? Is he really not being fed the real information so that he can come across as honest? Does he truly believe that the American public will just accept what he says in spite of contrasting realities from real time video feeds from the ground and first hand reporting of the opposite?

At the end of the day, there are some (including the liberals who post here) who actually do accept what they are told by Biden. The comment threads are littered with cut and paste regarding people within the Biden Administration demanding that things are going swimmingly.  These are generally offered as some sort of proof that what we otherwise are seeing from the video or hearing from people on the ground must be untrue.

Who are you going to believe? The Biden administration or your lying eyes?

But does that really help the cause? To appease those who are so obedient to the liberal cause that they probably are incapable of accepting the Afghanistan situation as a problem? Because admitting it is as bad as it is, would be to admit that maybe Biden is not the second coming of FDR?

Probably helps very little, because Biden is losing the vast majority of Americans by flat out openly lying to them as they watch this fiasco crash and burn before their very eyes. The main qualities that Joe Biden was supposed to have was an honest demeanor and the ability to provide stable leadership. He is currently working overtime to blow up both of those.

Is it too late for him to do what he should have done up front? Is there still time for him to step up, admit that they failed the American public, that they do not have everything under control, and that they ultimately made a massive mistake in planning and execution. Is there still time for him to fire General Milley and anyone else who had anything do to with this?

I honestly doubt that even if there was still time that Biden would do it. Juan Williams stated yesterday (a guy who is as diehard of a Democrat as can be) that he believes that people will "soon forget about the failures in Afghanistan."  I think that is what Biden and gang are counting on.  They are not looking for forgiveness, but for forgetfulness.

There are those who believe this is all intentional, and I can see why they would believe that. You have the most powerful people in the world able to address this in a myriad of different ways, and our response has been horrifically and grotesquely incompetent to the point of humiliatingly farcical. And the man at the head of it all possesses the cognitive ability of an infant child.

Leaving a base in the middle of the night without even telling those left behind you are leaving is intentional

Everything the Biden administration does appears to be intentional

This is how cravenly desperate clinging to power the democrats are. These assholes repeatedly contemplated removing Trump via the 25th amendment because his mean tweets hurt their feewings.

Here we are in a legitimate presidential leadership crisis, arguably the worst of all time, and democrats recoil at the thought of using the 25th to remove a demonstrably incompetent president. All because they would lose their senate tie-breaking ability.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for Cum-Allah to take over. While barely lucid in her own right, she's so goddamned stupid, mediocre and unaccomplished putting her in the big chair would be disastrous in it's own right.

Members of Congress ramped up pressure on the Biden administration to speed the evacuation of Afghans eligible for special immigrant visas for their service to the U.S., urging the government’s military and foreign-affairs operations to do more to enable airlifts out of Afghanistan.

Lawmakers from both parties and chambers said that the military, foreign service and immigration systems needed to cut processing restrictions that have hampered entry to the airport, follow through on a new law broadening eligibility for the program, expand security to enable travel to the airport, and commit to staying in the country until vulnerable Afghans—and not just Americans—are evacuated.

“I would like them to try harder,” said Sen. Joni Ernst (R., Iowa), who with Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D., N.H.) on Thursday wrote a letter signed by 55 lawmakers calling on President Biden to implement provisions in a July law that allow Afghans to obtain special immigrant visas after only one year of working for the U.S. government, instead of two years.

The U.S. has provided the Afghanistan government with an enormous supply of military equipment as part of the $83 billion it spent during the nearly 20-year course of the war to train and supply the national security forces. According to a report from the Government Accountability Office reviewed by Kheel, the U.S. supplied Afghan forces with more than 75,000 vehicles between 2003 and 2016, along with nearly 600,000 weapons, 160,000 pieces of communications equipment and more than 200 aircraft.

Some of the equipment has been lost or destroyed, but U.S. officials told Reuters that the Taliban now controls more than 2,000 armored vehicles and as many as 40 aircraft. (Afghan military pilots reportedly used about 50 aircraft to flee the country, effectively removing them from Taliban control.)

Sweden has had a grand whopping total of 21 people die since the beginning of July. That is less than 0.5 death a day, for a country that is the same size as Illinois (the Reverend's home state) - which has had 451 deaths during that same time period.

About 20 times higher than Sweden.

Whatever state you live in, I promise you that Sweden is kicking your ass.

But apparently you don't see a problem with 451 dead people in Illinois but you are shocked an appalled at 21 dead in Sweden.

Fucking idiot!!

Secondly, Sweden is part of Europe and with Stockholm and other large cities they are one of the most urban countries in Europe. They currently stand 24 out of 47 in deaths per million and continue to drop in Europe. Considering they had to lockdowns or mandates, I would offer that is pretty damned good!

The idiots you are quoting are specifically comparing them to less urban countries in Scandanavia like the Netherlands (population 900,000). It's not a reasonable comparison to compare one country with other countries that have a fraction of the population and no urban areas. They are using (not recent numbers) but the numbers from the beginning where Sweden had higher deaths.

What Sweden did worked.

The facts bear it out and they are doing better than we are in spite of having a larger Urban percentage of people.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Just from NBC news.

They have reported almost every thing I said.

American citizens trying to leave Afghanistan were advised not to travel to Kabul's airport because of "potential security threats," on Saturday, as senior Taliban leaders arrived in the city to choose a new government.

"We are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so," the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan said in a statement Saturday.

The advice was issued "because of potential security threats," the statement said, although it did not elaborate on what those threats were. "We will contact registered U.S. citizens as the security situation changes to provide further instructions," the statement added.

It came less than than 24 hours after President Joe Biden vowed to get Americans home and help Afghans who'd assisted U.S. forces in the country and others who might be in danger.

It's a very fluid and again difficult task for the Commander in Chief!

It's tough to understand what the political system will handle such difficult task.

General Milly is the next generation.

GEORGE C. MARSHALL’s contributions to our nation and the world cannot be overstated. He was the organizer of victory and the architect of peace during and following World War II. He won the war, and he won the peace. His characteristics of honesty, integrity, and selfless service stand as shining examples for those who study the past and for those generations who will learn about him in the future. The Marshall Foundation is dedicated to celebrating his legacy.

Marshall’s career touched on many of the key events of the 20th century—as a new Army officer following the Philippine insurrection, as a member of the staff of General of the Armies John J. Pershing during World War I, as U.S. Army Chief of Staff during War World II, as Secretary of State and the architect of European economic recovery following WWII, and as Secretary of Defense during the Korean War. He is the only person to have served in these three highest positions.

During World War II, Marshall as Army Chief of Staff (1939–1945) was the most important military figure in the U.S. military establishment and of great significance in maintaining the Anglo-American coalition. After the war, he was named special ambassador to China (1945–1947), Secretary of State (1947–1949), President of the American Red Cross (1949–1950), and Secretary of Defense (1950–1951). In 1953 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in proposing, encouraging legislative action, and supporting the European Recovery Program (known as the Marshall Plan). For nearly 20 years he was a major U.S. leader, militarily, politically and morally, and he is still widely admired today.

He got us into NATO despite isolationist Republicans. Eisenhower continued to start the cold war, and we avoided another World War with The Soviet Union.

He understands that we have lost every war since 1945

And will eventually get us out of Afghanistan

Following orders by the President.

We’ve learned a lot in the past five days. Maybe the important thing we’ve learned is that Joe Biden is not capable of running the country. Joe Biden is senile. Saying that out loud is not an attack on Biden. Any decent person feels sorry for Biden, watching him gaze vacantly into the middle distance, or stumble like a drunk man trying to cross an icy street as he careens through his prepared remarks. There’s no joy in watching any of that. That could be any of us someday. It’s not Joe Biden’s fault he can’t think clearly. It’s an indictment of the people around him.

In the months before last November’s election, Biden’s own family knew perfectly well that he was in profound cognitive decline. They were worried about it. They told other people they were worried about it, which is how we know. But they did nothing to stop Biden from running for president. Neither did Ron Klain, who is now the White House chief of staff. Klain is highly familiar with Joe Biden’s senility. He works there every day. So do Mike Donilon and Gene Sperling and Susan Rice, and the rest of the people making the decisions in this country, very much including Barack Obama. They all know. These are hard, cynical, clear-eyed people. They’ve worked with Joe Biden for many years. Not one of them has any doubt he is failing. Now it’s obvious to the rest of the country.

In 1975, the tumultuous backdrop was Southeast Asia, and Washington largely opened America’s doors, letting in some 300,000 refugees from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia over the next four years. Joseph R. Biden Jr., then a young senator from Delaware, co-sponsored landmark legislation that won unanimous passage in the Senate and was signed into law in 1980, divorcing refugee admissions from U.S. foreign policy and generally expanding the number allowed into the country each year.

Now, as similar scenes of chaos and desperation unfold in Kabul with the conclusion of America’s 20-year war in Afghanistan, most analysts say there is little chance the country will repeat the extensive refugee resettlement effort that accompanied the end of the war in Vietnam.

Biden Admin Has No Plan to Stop Taliban From Seizing Billions in Assets and Cash

The Biden administration may be inadvertently providing the Taliban with a massive cash inflow of up to $10 billion dollars due to its inability to act against the Islamist militant group in Afghanistan and prevent them from seizing US assets and cash.

Following the fall of the Afghanistan national government and President Joe Biden’s disastrous pullout, few plans have been put in place to secure billions of dollars in assets and between $10 and $20 million in cash in Afghanistan. If the assets and liquid currency should fall into the hands of the Taliban, it would add even more spoils to their coffers, already flush with Taliban’s seizing of US military hardware, including billions of dollars in guns, ammunition, helicopters, heavy artillery, drones, and armored vehicles.

As the administration scrambles to evacuate trapped US citizens and their allies from Afghanistan, the Biden administration may be overlooking the Taliban’s plans to seize some $10 billion in assets currently held in Afghanistan’s central bank, according to congressional foreign policy leaders.

In 1975, the tumultuous backdrop was Southeast Asia, and Washington largely opened America’s doors, letting in some 300,000 refugees from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia over the next four years

A transcript of an April 14, 1975, meeting with U.S. President Gerald Ford and other senators in the Oval Office shows Biden, then a 32-year-old freshman senator, was resistant to any continued involvement in Vietnam, and he didn’t even want to approve money that would help get the United States’ former South Vietnamese allies out of the country. “I am not sure I can vote for an amount to put American troops in for one to six months to get the Vietnamese out,” he said. “I will vote for any amount for getting the Americans out. I don’t want it mixed with getting the Vietnamese out.” On April 25, 1975, Biden voted to oppose the Vietnam Contingency Act of 1975, which would have sent emergency relief funds to South Vietnam to be used partly for evacuation.

You took his words because you wanted to believe it.

Since election day in 2016.

And even worse is that you believe the big lie!

The 134 IQ and the ability to think objectively explains why you have a poll about Roger Amick.

confirmation bias is how propaganda works on your mind Scott

Did you or did you not...

Believe that nonsense written about DeSantis and the lie about the average daily cases?

Whether or not propaganda works or doesn't is not an opinion. It's a matter of factually looking at information and seeing who is willing to just "believe" what they read without ever checking.

You can criticize my own analysis or opinions, but they are 99/100 times independent and based on the data or empirical evidence.

While you love to make blanket statements you cannot back up... you probably cannot go back to any blog post or comment I made that just "blindly" accepted data that someone printed online that could otherwise be verified.

“He sold voters on his experience and this is the first time he is offering decisions, not mere opinions in a Senate hearing — and he will be judged by the outcome, which is far from clear at this point.

It's been one of the biggest foreign policy failures in our nation's history. Nothing that happens from here on out will change any of that. There will be no declaring victory here or anyone coming back a month from now and saying everything was a successs.

Too much chaos and too many lies and too many broken promises to too many people.

All while he decided to take a vacation and not simply be "not around".

The president is changing his schedule and will not go to his Wilmington home today. (The decision came after the pool of traveling journalists was already positioned at Joint Base Andrews.)

sounds like a last second decision

desperation

Why would he even consider doing this ?

No sane president in these times would

boy must he be mad

A bit different than our government update

One side is lying

and I'm thinking the one with video is telling the truth

American Trapped in Kabul Explains 'Bogus' Visa Email Sent to Thousands: 'Brain Worms'

An American citizen trapped in Kabul, Afghanistan, recently spoke about receiving a "bogus" generic visa document from the U.S. State Department, which he said was sent out to thousands of others.

David Fox, who runs a marketing firm in Kabul, told ABC News on Thursday that he recently tried to travel back to the U.S. but was unable to do so because of the massive crowds of people at Kabul's airport following the Taliban's takeover of the country.

Fox said that on Thursday morning he received an email from the U.S. Embassy's consular services department that included a document to assist American citizens and Afghan citizens eligible for Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) in leaving the country.

"This looks like a U.S. visa," Fox said while showing a copy of the document he received. "For those of you who aren't familiar, if you get a U.S. visa or an immigrant visa in your passport, this is what it looks like. But this document has no name. It's not addressed to anyone. There's no serial number at the bottom, there's no barcode."

Fox went on to say that thousands of Afghans, such as those who applied for SIVs, also received the document.

"And what do you think happened when these people received a document like this that has no name? Of course, they printed out a thousand copies," Fox said. "You have tens of thousands of Afghans who now have this kind of ridiculous, bogus document that the State Department created."

Fox continued, "I don't know how else to explain something like this except for brain worms. I mean, it's absurd. What were they thinking?"

A State Department spokesperson confirmed to Newsweek that it has sent out documents to potential travelers in Afghanistan.
