Women's Soccer Team lose again and lose chance at Gold

Never in all my years has an American team losing made so many Americans happy?

Of course, there will be lots of criticism for those who were not rooting hard for the Americans, but you reap what you sew folks. Just like Americans lost respect for professional athletes who put their politics front and center, many Americans will have trouble with the women's soccer team who took more knees than they scored goals during this Olympics.

I guess I personally don't care a lot. I think it sort of serves them right to have lost the support of so many Americans. They have a forum to do so many things for good, and they chose hyper partisan politics as their choice of action. More to the point, by now every athlete has to know that these social justice things are not exactly popular, which makes it somewhat obnoxious to continue with them.

At the end of the day, they Americans had a 44 game win streak and were heavy favorites for gold. Now the best they can do is take a Bronze medal if they win that match. But they lost twice, tied once, and it took a shootout to win one of their other games.

Instead of being a culture movement.

We need to play hardball!

As has often been noted in this space, human beings are not wired to change their minds. To the contrary, 40 years of behavioral-sciences research tells us that when bad information gets stuck in human brains, it tends to stay there.

But the bad information now impeding vaccinations — i.e., they contain tracking devices, they were manufactured too quickly, it’s all a government hoax — is a literal matter of life and death. So let’s stop asking nicely. Let’s impose coercive measures. Just as children can’t go to school without proof of vaccination, adults shouldn’t be able to bank, shop or enter public gatherings without same.

Yes, that would be a drastic step. It would likely lead to a repeat of last year’s anti-mask unrest. Remember the siege of the Michigan statehouse? Remember the confrontations in restaurants and stores? It was not pleasant, and this go-round would likely be worse. But what other option do we have?

You do not endanger the lives of the many to humor the misconceptions of the few. They can’t or won’t change their minds. It’s time to recognize that.

And do it for them.

Under your libertarian views on government, the government shouldn't require seat belts and speed limit.

Meanwhile the coup rolls on.

He began his coup attempt the day after he lost the election, when he publicly repudiated the election results and began harassing the Department of Justice and multiple Secretaries of State and election officials to declare that Biden only won because of "fraud."

All he needed, he told them, was for the DOJ to declare official doubts about the outcome and he and his "R congressmen" would take care of the rest.

"Just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen," Trump told then-Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen.

Rosen and the DOJ didn't go along, so Trump simply switched strategy from coercion to an outright murder attempt on Vice President Pence and Speaker Pelosi as his coup rolled on.

The high point of his coup was on January 6th when he encouraged his followers to attack the Capitol to "stop the steal," and refused to mobilize the DC National Guard until long after his terrorists had left the building. (Unlike every other state, the DC National Guard can only be activated by the President because DC has no governor.)

Making sure the coup never ends but keeps rolling on is probably Trump's best chance to avoid going to jail for crimes ranging from rape to bank fraud, sedition and treason. Running for office gives him both some political and legal immunities and access to more cash, so he's going to persist and amp up the volume of his efforts.

But Trump's neofascist coup is no longer limited to himself and his fellow DC insiders.

State after state is being taken over from the ground up by Trump supporters who want to end multiracial democracy in America and turns us back into a white-supremacist ethnostate.

From Oregon to Florida and all across states in between, local school boards are being seized by anti-American supporters of the former reality TV star.

The world watches with horror and our actual president, Joe Biden, finds himself, along with Democrats in Congress, frustrated at every turn by Trump's loyalists and a few Democratic senators who are taking money from the same billionaires who fund the GOP and empower Trump.

Meanwhile, the coup rolls on.

Padilla told The Hill that none of those who tested positive at San Francisco General required hospitalization. Most of the infections caused mild to moderate symptoms, according to the Times.

Asymptomatic cases were also detected through contact tracing. The infections were predominately spread through community exposure, according to Padilla.

The Hill reached out to the UCSF Medical Center for comment.

The hospital’s chief medical officer, Lukejohn Day, told the Times that the cases would be far worse if staff members were not vaccinated.

“We’re concerned right now that we’re on the rise of a surge here in San Francisco and the Bay Area,” Day said. “But what we’re seeing is very much what the data from the vaccines showed us: You can still get COVID, potentially. But if you do get it, it’s not severe at all.”

Covid 19 - Natural Immunity vs vaccination.

An important study came out yesterday to help better understand/show why natural immunity is better than vaccination vs variants.

Study shows that the antibodies/B cells produced after natural infection are better equiped to handle variants than via vaccination due to the process of affinity maturation/ somatic hypermutation.

Conserved clones from 2 to 5 months from vaccinated individuals showed a 1.9 fold increase in affinity. Over the same time period from clones from natural infection showed a 24 fold increase in affinity.

In An unnerving trend, a third police officer who responded to the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 has reportedly committed suicide.

The latest case involves Officer Gunther Hashida, who was assigned to the Emergency Response Team within the Special Operations Division of Washington, D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department.

The MPD says Hashida "was found deceased in his residence on Thursday, July 29."

"We are grieving as a Department as our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Hashida’s family and friends," the department

It remained unclear how the policeman killed himself or if his response to the Capitol riot was a contributing factor to his demise.

A GoFundMe account described Hashida as a "devoted and loving husband and father," as he left behind a wife, three children and a sister.

The fact that he's the third officer responding to the riot who have purportedly killed themselves is raising eyebrows.

Are the deaths of these officers responding to the Capitol riot actually suicide?

Yes No  ????

"You can't tell me that's just a coincidence," said President Trump supporter Lauren Witzke, who made headlines herself in June when Wells Fargo mysteriously canceled her bank account without warning and explanation.

"They are either overwhelmed with guilt or were about to release information about the federal government & intelligence agency's involvement," she added.

"Don't be fooled, something here is very, very wrong."

The other officers who are said to have committed suicide are Jeffrey Smith, a 12-year veteran of the MPD, and Howard Liebengood, a 16-year Capitol Police veteran.

Another Capitol Police officer, Brian Sicknick, died in the immediate aftermath of the mayhem. Sicknick suffered two strokes and died of natural causes on the day after the riot, according to Washington D.C.'s chief medical examiner.

Some commenters online are openly questioning the statements that the officers killed themselves, with some saying:

"Suicide or suicided???""Or they were actually murdered which is what usually happens when people are going to blow the whistle.""That is too far out of the statistical [likelihood] to be ignored.

These men being suicided have families; families which the coup d'etat participants don't give two squirts about.""Suicide my a**. They've been Clinton'd."

Anti-Maskers May Have Spread Covid at Missouri Meeting

Associated Press:
“Many people were maskless as they expressed their displeasure with a mask mandate during a boisterous, four-hour St. Louis County Council meeting, and now contact tracers are trying to determine if anyone picked up the coronavirus after someone at the meeting tested positive for COVID-19.

“Health officials issued an advisory asking everyone who attended the meeting — even those who are fully vaccinated — to quarantine through Aug. 10.”

Said Gelber: “The governor has made it as difficult as possible to make people safe. He’s like the pied piper leading everybody off a cliff right now by letting them know that they don’t have to like the CDC, they don’t have to wear masks, that they can do whatever they want when we’re in the midst of an enormous pandemic.”

Gavin Newsom Crushing Recall Rivals In Ad Spending
August 2, 2021 at 11:16 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
First Read:
“Newsom & Co. have spent $5.9 million in advertising from July 1 to Aug. 2, while Republicans and recall backers have spent just $27,500 during that same time period.

“And when you look at future ad buys (from Aug. 3 to Sept. 14), Democrats hold a 150-to-1 advantage, $13.3 million to $86,000.

“Now we expect those GOP ad numbers to increase over the next six weeks. Still, that’s quite a financial disadvantage in this very expensive state.”

“Arizona is hardly the only place where attacks on the electoral process are under way: a well-funded national movement has been exploiting Trump’s claims of fraud in order to promote alterations to the way that ballots are cast and counted in forty-nine states, eighteen of which have passed new voting laws in the past six months. Republican-dominated legislatures have also stripped secretaries of state and other independent election officials of their power.”

Said election law expert Rick Hasen:
“...It’s not just about voter suppression. What I’m really worried about is election subversion. Election officials are being put in place who will mess with the count.”

What You Probably Haven’t Read About the Delta Variant
August 2, 2021 at 10:50 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
New York Magazine:
“The most hopeful and encouraging facts about the Delta surge were even harder to find in the coverage. The first is that, thanks to widespread vaccination of the elderly, however fast this disease spreads it will ultimately inflict a much, much smaller death toll than earlier waves, because vaccination has probably eliminated 90 percent or more of the country’s total COVID-19 mortality risk.

“The second is that, in those countries with roughly comparable vaccination rates to the U.S., the surge has already peaked and begun a rapid decline, suggesting that such a turn here is possible — or even quite likely — within a few weeks.”

Less than a week after an “angry mob” swarmed a St. Louis County council meeting to oppose a new mask mandate, public health officials in Missouri announced on Saturday that at least one person has tested positive for the coronavirus and may have exposed others who attended the meeting.

The City of St. Louis Department of Health said it is trying to identify anyone who had close contact with the infected person and urged everyone who attended the council meeting to quarantine for nine days and look out for possible covid-19 symptoms.

“The DOH is continuing its contact tracing investigation into this case and encourages those who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated,” Fredrick Echols, acting director of health for the City of St. Louis, said in a statement on Saturday. “It is the best tool we have to prevent severe COVID-19 complications, including death.”

But the return to mask-wearing stoked the ire of many people who opposed the coronavirus restrictions at a county council meeting last week.

On Tuesday, a flock of maskless demonstrators aggressively advocated against the mask mandate. Many of the attendees sat shoulder-to-shoulder during the meeting. And as St. Louis County Department of Health’s acting director Faisal Khan spoke about the reasons for the new precautions, the crowd shouted degrading insults, including racist slurs, and mocked his accent.

“It was the saddest, most bizarre and disgusting thing that I’ve ever witnessed in my 30 years in public health,” Khan told The Post last week.

Khan also told The Post he feared that meeting could easily turn into a superspreader event.

When announcing that one of the meeting attendees had tested positive for covid, public health officials urged people to wear masks and practice social distancing when in public and to frequently wash their hands or use hand sanitizer.

“We are still in a pandemic caused by a virus that continues to spread rapidly in our communities, causing severe health complications including death,” Echols said in his statement. “It is very important that residents practice the health and safety mitigation measures.”

It’s feeding the kind of misinformation that led to the January 6th insurrection.” QAnon followers have been celebrating the audit as the beginning of a “Great Awakening” that will eject Biden from the White House. She noted, “I’ve gotten death threats. I’ve had armed protestors outside my house. Every day, there is a total barrage of social media to our office. We’ve had to route our phones to voice mail so that no one has to listen to it. It can be really traumatizing. I feel beaten up.” She added, “But I’m not going to cave to their tactics—because I think they’re laying the groundwork to steal the 2024 elections.”

Although the Arizona audit may appear to be the product of local extremists, it has been fed by sophisticated, well-funded national organizations whose boards of directors include some of the country’s wealthiest and highest-profile conservatives. Dark-money organizations, sustained by undisclosed donors, have relentlessly promoted the myth that American elections are rife with fraud, and, according to leaked records of their internal deliberations, they have drafted, supported, and in some cases taken credit for state laws that make it harder to vote.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island who has tracked the flow of dark money in American politics, told me that a “flotilla of front groups” once focussed on advancing such conservative causes as capturing the courts and opposing abortion have now “more or less shifted to work on the voter-suppression thing.” These groups have cast their campaigns as high-minded attempts to maintain “election integrity,” but Whitehouse believes that they are in fact tampering with the guardrails of democracy.

One of the movement’s leaders is the Heritage Foundation, the prominent conservative think tank in Washington, D.C. It has been working with the American Legislative Exchange Council (alec)—a corporate-funded nonprofit that generates model laws for state legislators—on ways to impose new voting restrictions. Among those deep in the fight is Leonard Leo, a chairman of the Federalist Society, the legal organization known for its decades-long campaign to fill the courts with conservative judges. In February, 2020, the Judicial Education Project, a group tied to Leo, quietly rebranded itself as the Honest Elections Project, which subsequently filed briefs at the Supreme Court, and in numerous states, opposing mail-in ballots and other reforms that have made it easier for people to vote.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Another newcomer to the cause is the Election Integrity Project California. And a group called FreedomWorks, which once concentrated on opposing government regulation, is now demanding expanded government regulation of voters, with a project called the National Election Protection Initiative.

These disparate nonprofits have one thing in common: they have all received funding from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation. Based in Milwaukee, the private, tax-exempt organization has become an extraordinary force in persuading mainstream Republicans to support radical challenges to election rules—a tactic once relegated to the far right. With an endowment of some eight hundred and fifty million dollars, the foundation funds a network of groups that have been stoking fear about election fraud, in some cases for years. Public records show that, since 2012, the foundation has spent some eighteen million dollars supporting eleven conservative groups involved in election issues.

It might seem improbable that a low-profile family foundation in Wisconsin has assumed a central role in current struggles over American democracy. But the modern conservative movement has depended on leveraging the fortunes of wealthy reactionaries.

Take up arms.

For over one year, Antifa and BLM have looted, vandalized, and even murdered. Simultaneously, police officers are unjustly vilified, defunded, and demoralized to the point that many have turned in their badges. To add insult to indignity, the Biden dominion makes no secret of its desire to restrict our Second Amendment rights, or altogether deprive us of the most effective means of self-defense known to history.

Meanwhile, GOP senators suffer the vapors over spiked trees.

The left continues to spin the myth of the "January 6 Insurrection," despite the facts that (a) only the capitol police and other government officials bore firearms during the incident, and (b) the only death that can be proximately connected to the incident was that of Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed Air Force veteran who was shot by an unidentified (officially, anyway) government official.

Meanwhile, GOP representative Markwayne Mullin commiserates with Ms. Babbitt's slayer.

While the DHS secretary — himself a Cuban refugee — warns Cuban refugees they will not be welcome on our shores, and quickly makes good on the threat, the Biden ministry opens the overland floodgates at our southern border.

Meanwhile, GOP representative Mike Waltz loses sleep over Hunter Biden's involvement in shady shenanigan number 1,412.

The Biden regime wages war against our oil and gas industry, while it rescinds sanctions on Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Meanwhile, at Speaker Pelosi's Kabuki Carnival, GOP representative Adam Kinzinger debuts his hammy rendition of William Hurt's teary-eyed scene from Broadcast News (1987).

Evidence of massive fraud mounts in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, which fraud very likely nullified a record-breaking number of votes cast on November 3, 2020. The DOJ issues threats in an effort to derail Arizona's forensic audit, as well as deter such audits in other states. The DNC deploys an army of lawyers to fight those audits, but the RNC is nowhere to be found, despite having cashed in on the controversy.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 17 GOP senators give the Biden patronage their "Harrumph!" on a $1.2-trillion "infrastructure" bill, which, incidentally, has yet to be written. Among the items in this theoretical bill are yet another giveaway to the electric auto industry and yet another bailout of Amtrak.

What appalls me more than the effrontery of the governors and mayors who imposed the arbitrary business closures in 2020 is how willingly small business owners complied. Why did they succumb? Primarily, because they lacked moral support. When the leaders we elect are silent in the face of tyranny, we lose our will to fight even the most egregious of infringements.

If only we had a party of streetfighters in our corner. Or, at least, a warrior-coach to whip the extant Boy Scout party into shape. Alas, we elected just such a paladin in 2016, but his lessons fell on wooden ears. So now we must replace all that dead weight. As we do so, let us revisit my coach's proverb. While it is always good to gauge how a candidate will vote in chamber, might I suggest we pay equal attention (if not more) to how ardently that candidate will fight the culture war in the media and on the street?

The Wall Street Journal says that unless a modern Reagan emerges the bottom up economy will rule

The 1970s gave us stagflation—immortalized in the popularization of the “misery index”—the sum of the unemployment and inflation rates. While today’s number remains well shy of the peak it reached in 1980, it has doubled in the past two years—a feat last performed in the mid-1970s. Other echoes resonate across the half century: unaccustomed military misadventures, in Vietnam then and Iraq and Afghanistan now; presidential infamy in Richard Nixon and Donald Trump.

For all the similarities, though, there’s at least one big political difference—rooted in an economic one—that suggests reason for pessimism.

Today, unlike then, almost the entire American establishment lines up on one side. The progressive revolution is much more deeply embedded in the nation’s institutions than it ever was in the 1970s. It was still possible then to find conservatives on campuses—it was the intellectual revolution of Milton Friedman and the Chicago school that presaged Ronald Reagan’s political version. Friedman would probably be canceled today. The permanent government wasn’t steeped as it is now in the social and political orthodoxy that thwarts efforts to undo it.

But the biggest difference of all is the investment by America’s corporate leadership in the dominant progressive ideology.

By the late 1970s U.S. financial markets had been in a decade-long bear market. In 1979 the Dow Jones Industrial Average was where it had been in 1965. Since then, and thanks in great part to the global economic liberalization unleashed by the Reagan-Thatcher years, today’s American corporations have enjoyed a bull run like no other.

Which leaves us with one of the strangest alliances in history: a dominant political class that argues America is a fundamentally flawed society in need of complete transformation, in coalition with a dominant capitalist class that reaps unprecedented riches from investors’ convictions that things have never been better.

Barring an epic financial collapse or some improbable early cultural counterrevolution, the coalition that helped elect Ronald Reagan isn’t coming back. Any reversal of the tide of progressive hegemony will have to be achieved from the bottom up.

They don't like Trump.

Don Lemon: No Shirt, No Shoes, No Vaccine, No Service

Posted By Tim Hains
On Date August 1, 2021

CNN's Don Lemon voiced the frustration many vaccinated Americans have for those who refuse to be vaccinated for COVID-19, saying:

DON LEMON, CNN: I’m sure a lot of people are not going to agree with this, but [if you] don’t get the vaccine, you can’t go to the supermarket. Don’t have the vaccine, can’t go to the ball game. Don’t have a vaccine, can’t go to work. You don’t have a vaccine, can’t come here. No shirt, no shoes, no service.

I think that’s where we should be right now because we continue to waste our breath on people who are just not going to change. You know, circular logic, they keep going back and saying, “Well, it’s my freedom.” “It’s whatever.” “‘I’m free.”

Well, your kid’s not free to give other kids meningitis in schools. Got to take a vaccine to do that. You got to take vaccines in order to be employed.

So what is the big deal? And all these people are saying, "I don’t want to put this stuff in my body," they’re out drinking on the weekend and putting other substances in their bodies that’s way worse for them than a vaccine. So, come on. Let’s be real.

WASHINGTON – The Biden administration extended a Trump-era policy Monday that allows migrants to be expelled to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in holding facilities.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement that Title 42 "shall remain in effect until the CDC Director determines that the danger of further introduction of COVID-19 into the United States from covered noncitizens has ceased to be a serious danger to the public health, and the Order is no longer necessary to protect the public health."

Title 42 allows Customs and Border Protection officials to expel undocumented migrants to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in holding facilities. However, children and some families are exempt from the policy.

The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that "Title 42 is not an immigration authority, but a public health authority, and its continued use is dictated by CDC and governed by the CDC's analysis of public health factors."

The policy was first issued last year by the CDC under the Trump administration. Biden has received backlash by immigrant activists and some lawmakers for keeping the policy in place.

Morning Joe shames GOP lawmakers who won't speak up for Capitol cops after another officer takes his life

Travis Gettys

August 03, 2021

Joe Scarborough (MSNBC)

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough called on Republican lawmakers to stand with the Capitol police officers who defended them against Jan. 6 rioters after a fourth officer has taken his life since the violent insurrection.

Report Advertisement

Four officers have committed suicide since the riot and a fifth died from injuries shortly after Donald Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in a violent effort to overturn the presidential election results, and the "Morning Joe" host said Republicans need to speak out against their colleagues trying to block an investigation of the attack.

"Look at the Trump signs everywhere," Scarborough said. "Donald Trump trying to deny that this wasn't his riot, this wasn't his insurrection when, in fact, he was cheering it on from the White House, according to Republican senators and, of course, called up [House minority leader] Kevin McCarthy and Kevin McCarthy asked him, begged him to shut it down, and he told McCarthy it wasn't his people, even while he was cheering them on. McCarthy shouted at him, swore at him, called him a liar -- how stupid do you think we are? Everybody knows. Look at the Trump signs. These are all Donald Trump supporters in there."

Four law enforcement officers testified last week before the House select committee investigating the riot, which Republicans have downplayed as a minor event, and some conservative media figures mocked their pain in describing the brutal violence they faced.

Continue watchingLoopPromoafter the ad

"Let's be clear about it," Scarborough said. "Republicans, they have a choice to make, it's a simple choice. You can either be on the side of American terrorists, that's what the cops called them, that were getting brutalized with American flags. You can either be on the side of American terrorists or you can be on the side of law enforcement officers, of police officers. It's that simple. Terrorists or cops, pick a side, and if you decide that you do want to support law enforcement officers, if you do want to protect those who have protected you every day inside the United States Capitol, if you are a Republican, could you please, please offer your support publicly for law enforcement officers today in the Capitol, D.C. Metro force?"

"Please let them know how much you appreciate what they do for you every day, and specifically what they did to save your life on Jan. 6," he added. "Because right now, they obviously aren't feeling that. They're hearing a lot of Republicans undermine them and attack them and claim that they're actors, and claim that this was just another day on the Hill, and so, when Republicans come out and say that, or when carnival barkers come out and say that and you say nothing, as a Republican members of Congress, you're sort of endorsing that."

Why DeSantis will never be smart enough to dislodge trump.......BWAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Sun Sentinel Editorial Board, South Florida Sun Sentinel
Tue, August 3, 2021, 5:30 AM
“Personal choice” is the mantra of COVID-19′s dangerous enablers and their justification for opposing face mask mandates and vaccination requirements, no matter what. Yet the loudest of them also threw in with 11 other states now asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the historic Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 that guarantees personal choice in the matter of abortion.

That would be Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who appears oblivious to his own hypocrisy. His denunciation of “forced masking” follows a classic demagogic pattern: Tell people what they want to hear regardless of consequences.

Preventable illness and death are the potential consequences of DeSantis’ latest executive order, effectively forbidding schools from requiring face masks even though there are still no approved COVID-19 vaccines for children under 12. The order appeared aimed squarely at Broward County.

His order coincided with the startling news that Florida led the nation with 110,477 new COVID-19 cases last week, some 37,000 more than the week before. Broward and Miami-Dade hospitals last week admitted the most COVID-19 patients of any counties in the U.S.

DeSantis says masking children is a decision for parents — not the government. That’s an abdication of the state’s responsibility to keep all children as safe as possible in the schools that the state compels them to attend until they are 16

Masking kids and closing schools is irrational, unscientific child abuse

America’s public-health bureaucrats, chiefly the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, are insisting on masking kids and granting baseless alibis to teachers unions that would delay or defer schools reopening for another year, if they could get away with it.

This, even as fresh evidence mounts that kids aren’t at risk from COVID-19 and aren’t spreaders — and that school closures do them grave harm.

A study out of the UK released last week proved — once again — what we’ve known for more than a year: Kids transmit the coronavirus at a much lower rate than do adults. Epidemiologist Shamez Ladhani, who led the study, found that children “aren’t taking [the virus] home and then transferring it to the community. These kids have very little capacity to infect household members.”

Nevertheless, we Americans inflicted misery upon our kids. We took away school, kept them apart from their friends, and needlessly covered their faces. It wasn’t all kids who suffered, though. Kids in private and parochial schools in urban areas went to school. Kids in public schools in GOP-governed areas also went to school (and even got to play sports, mask-free).

And everything turned out OK: States with open schools didn’t have more child COVID cases and certainly not more hospitalizations or deaths. Schools without mask mandates didn’t have significantly more COVID cases. They simply put kids first.

But kids unlucky enough to live in blue cities and states were subjected to the anti-science mania of gentry liberals and the cravenness of political leaders beholden to teachers unions.

A McKinsey study released last week surveyed the damage. It concluded that school closures “left students on average five months behind in mathematics and four months behind in reading by the end of the school year.”

Although the McKinsey study researched the effects of the “unfinished” 2019-20 academic year, it doesn’t take rocket science to conclude that students who then had the benefit of full-time, in-person schooling in 2020-21 did far better than those whom unions and politicians subjected to nearly another full year of school closures — like kids in Gotham.

And again, for what? Study after disregarded study has shown that even unvaccinated children are safer than many vaccinated adults. Kids don’t spread COVID the same way. Schools aren’t infection hot spots. Kids rarely get sick from COVID and, when they do, it’s no worse than a cold.

We need to internalize this and stop listening to unhinged bureaucrats and journalists who frame children as little disease vectors. They aren’t. There’s a reason much of Europe didn’t mask kids under age 12 at all. It isn’t that they care about their kids less than we do, here in a country that starts masking at the insane age of 2. In fact, it shows Europeans care about their kids’ development
so much they won’t force them to play bit parts in a grand psychodrama.

What about teachers? Teachers, we are told by those who have kept kids out of classrooms for more than a year, are terrified. Yet are they?

Over the weekend, we learned that 40 percent of Big Apple teachers haven’t received the COVID vaccine. American Federation of Teachers boss Randi Weingarten said, “We believe strongly that everyone should get vaccinated, unless they have a medical or religious exception, and that this should be a mandatory subject of negotiation for employers to keep their employees safe and build trust.”

American Suffer Pandemic Whiplash
August 3, 2021 at 7:05 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 24 Comments

New York Times: “The crisis Biden once thought he had under control is changing shape faster than the country can adapt. An evolving virus, new scientific discoveries, deep ideological divides and 18 months of ever-changing pandemic messaging have left Americans skeptical of public health advice. So although the White House had promised a ‘summer of joy,’ the nation is instead caught in a summer of confusion.”

Democrats Scramble to Prevent Eviction Crisis
August 3, 2021 at 6:56 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
New York Times:
“On Monday, administration officials made it clear they could only do so much, blaming states for the fact that the $47 billion Emergency Rental Assistance program intended to avoid such a crisis has disbursed only $3 billion — or just 7 percent of the total.”

“But many Democrats, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have called on Mr. Biden to reconsider his decision not to act unilaterally, and have expressed anger at the White House for giving them only two days to ram through legislation to extend the freeze.”

Washington Post: “Liberals erupt in fury at White House over end of eviction moratorium.”

Punchbowl News:
“What we’re seeing here is a fascinating exercise of outside political power — the kind of power that’s difficult to successfully deploy.”

Two Ohio Primaries Test Direction of Parties
August 3, 2021 at 6:46 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Playbook:
“First, the Democrats in the 11th District: Nina Turner began the race to replace now-HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge with a big lead, but Shontel Brown, a local establishment figure, is closing strong. The race boils down to two members of the party’s most loyal demographic, Black women, who offer competing versions of what it means to represent a majority-minority, solid-blue Democratic district: Turner’s combative, pro-Bernie drive to the left, or Brown’s more conventional, work-with-Biden approach.

“Farther south, Republicans are choosing a new member in the 15th District. Trump made his pick months ago: Mike Carey, a coal lobbyist who’s never run before. But a week after the Trump-endorsed Susan Wright went down in a Republican-vs.-Republican runoff in Texas, the former president’s sway within the GOP is firmly on the line. There are 10 other candidates, including three sitting state lawmakers (one of whom, state Rep. Jeff Lare, is backed by the former incumbent, Steve Stivers).

“Polls close at 7:30 p.m. Since these are primaries, the winners won’t take office until after the special elections in November. But questions about where the two parties are headed — Democrats’ driving force under Biden, and Trump’s power over the GOP — will be answered tonight.”

Delta Variant Tests Limits of China’s Approach
August 3, 2021 at 6:12 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
“Faced with a rapidly
spreading coronavirus outbreak, China is implementing a wave of travel restrictions and quarantine orders, the scale of which has not been seen since the country’s initial explosion of cases from Wuhan in 2020,” the Washington Post reports.

“Driven by the contagious delta variant, the outbreak will be a closely watched test of China’s vaccines as well as its draconian containment strategy, which until this point has been largely effective in keeping infections low.”

Associated Press:
“Chinese authorities earlier today announced mass coronavirus testing in Wuhan as an unusually wide series of COVID-19 outbreaks reached the city where the disease was first detected in late 2019.”

Six Other Senators Were with Lindsey Graham
August 2, 2021 at 8:32 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
Punchbowl News
says the senators on Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) houseboat — who spent time with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who has tested positive for Covid-19 — include: Chris Coons (D-DE), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), and John Thune (R-SD).

This could impact expected votes this week on the bipartisan infrastructure deal.

“In a 50-50 Senate, every vote is key. The next cloture vote will be to cut off debate on amendments. So we’ll have to see how many senators contract Covid and how long they have to stay on the sidelines (and here’s hoping everyone is ok!) If it’s just Graham, the Senate should be able to proceed with little interruption. If it’s a wider outbreak, then that would, of course, change the dynamic entirely.”

“Conservatives need to do our part, and the Biden administration must find voices that will be trusted in conservative communities to explain the data and integrity of the vaccine programs. They would also do well to continue to acknowledge the historic achievement of the Trump administration in expediting these vaccines. I’m not naïve about the partisan issues and the mistrust between parties at play — but a measure of political graciousness could go a long way to depoliticize the issue.”

Editor-in-Chief of Germany’s Top Newspaper Apologizes For Fear-Driven COVID Coverage
Says sorry for telling children “that they were going to murder their grandma.”

In a speech delivered to camera, Julian Reichelt said sorry for Bild’s coverage which was “like poison” and “made you feel like you were a mortal danger to society.”

Reichelt directed his main sentiment towards children who have been terrorized by fearmongering media coverage which has caused child depression and suicides to soar across the world.

“To the millions of children in this country for whom our society is responsible, I want to express here what neither our government nor our Chancellor dares to tell you. We ask you to forgive us,” he said.

“Forgive us for this policy which, for a year and a half, has made you victims of violence, neglect, isolation, and loneliness.”

“We persuaded our children that they were going to murder their grandma if they dared to be what they are, children. Or if they met their friends. None of this has been scientifically proven.”

“When a state steals the rights of a child, it must prove that by doing so it protects him against concrete and imminent danger. This proof has never been provided. It has been replaced by propaganda presenting the child as a vector of the pandemic.”

Reichelt noted how moderate voices who attempted to offer calmer perspectives on the pandemic “were never invited to the expert table” and urged viewers “don’t believe this lie,” when encountering alarmist proclamations from the government.

The journalist called on authorities to open schools and sports halls instead of polling stations, warning that those who imposed brutal lockdown measures, “will have on their conscience and will leave in the history books, a multitude of innocent souls.”

Bild has a daily circulation of 1.24 million copies and is the best-selling newspaper in Europe, adding even more weight to this story.

As we highlighted yesterday, Germans protesting against plans to impose domestic vaccine passports were brutalized by police during demonstrations that took place in Berlin.

The ugly scenes prompted the UN’s Special Rapporteur on Torture Nils Melzer to put in a request for eyewitnesses ahead of a potential investigation.

Germans were protesting against plans to ban unvaccinated people from a plethora of different venues, including restaurants, cinemas and stadiums.

As we previously highlighted, Germany’s domestic spy agency is monitoring anti-lockdown protesters, claiming they are potentially involved in a plot to subvert the country.
