Will Progressives finally fall to their knees and kiss some delicious moderate ass!

Pelosi pushes for vote on the infrastructure bill again. Bernie tells progressives to vote it down!

All wondering what Sinema and Manchin's butts smell like

The pitch by Pelosi seems to be... don't worry about principles, how any of this affects the country, just pass a bill so dementia Joe is not embarrassed.  Well with the GDP at 2.0% and the clown show that has been these negotiations, I am guessing embarrassment has had the last laugh there, regardless of what else has happened.

Of course, this is like the third or fourth time that Pelosi has called for a vote on the infrastructure bill and has ended up pulling it at the last second. We will see if she follows through with this today. But make no mistake, we should not be making trillion dollar decisions in the country to save some politician's face. That is just nonsensical.

At least one of the longtime holdouts, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), quickly praised the deal — but without committing to vote for it. "She is getting a lot of pressure from her own state."

“After months of productive, good-faith negotiations with President Biden and the White House, we have made significant progress on the proposed budget reconciliation package,” Sinema said in a statement. “I look forward to getting this done, expanding economic opportunities and helping everyday families get ahead.”
Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.), the other major holdout, would say only, “in the hands of the House” when asked about the new framework in the Capitol on Thursday.

If the speaker puts it on the table, it will pass.

And the BBB consolidation will eventually restore normality.

Critical race theory is the political right’s new boogeyman.

The theory, born in the 1970s among legal scholars, uses race as a lens through which to examine structures of power. It was, I would argue, a relatively obscure concept — not because it lacked merit, but because it was novel.

That was until Donald Trump elevated it in order to attack it.

In September of 2020, during the run-up to the presidential election, with Trump trailing in the polls, the Office of Management and Budget issued the following directive:

“All agencies are directed to begin to identify all contracts or other agency spending related to any training on ‘critical race theory,’ ‘white privilege,’ or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either (1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.”

Critical race theory was simply an analytical tool, but to some white people, the fact that white supremacy was overtly used to infect America’s systems of power with both racial oppressions and racial privileges is too much to handle. It is discomforting. It unravels the American myth.

But critical race theory doesn’t diagnose the country as evil, even though it is beyond dispute that some evil people designed the architecture of racial oppression in this country and that there are still some who help maintain it. With voter suppression legislation by Republicans

In fact, I don’t even believe that most people have any real concept of what critical race theory is. It’s just a collection of words that hint, to them, at agitation and aggrievement: a theory that mentions race and that is critical, or, in their minds, criticizes.

Critical race theory began to stand for any teachings that challenged the narrative that white America had crafted about the country, and that unveiled any truths that it had tried to hide or erase.

Identifying and challenging racism was seen by some as racist. Pretending racism didn’t exist — that merit and sloth, excellence and pathology, explained away racial imbalance — was viewed as egalitarian and unifying.

So the rush by states across the country to ban the teaching of critical race theory in schools isn’t really about a real threat. Very few schools even teach C.R.T. as a core part of their curriculums, if at all.

Kyrsten Sinema struck an agreement on prescription drug pricing with President Joe Biden as part of Democrats' social spending talks, though it’s at risk of ultimately being excluded as the party tries to reach a deal that can pass.

The Arizona Democrat was somewhat reluctant to strike a deal on prescription drug price negotiation, a key campaign plank for many Democrats. But a source familiar said the president and Sinema were able to see eye to eye in the end.

The liberal Democrat are not going to vote against the infrastructure bill today, if Pelosi puts it up to a vote.

No it's not.

We learned that we had slaves during that time period decades before CRT even existed. We know the race of the masters and the slaves. The fact that you believe "we" were taught CRT is proof that you have been gaslighted and brainwashed.

What we were "not" taught is that something that took place over two centuries ago somehow places guilt or victimhood on people purely based on the color of their skin. That is what CRT is attempting to indoctorate into people. It's not teaching history. If it was, nobody would take issues. It's indoctorating opinions about how our children should feel about these things that is the issue.

Well Washington died long before the civil war began. he freed his slaves in his will.

I was taught that Washington, Jefferson, and Madison being part of the Virginia gentry were slave owners. But that is not what defined them. Rather the struggle to end British tyranny and create a unique country among the world is what define them.

A country that claimed "all men were created equal" in it's founding document. Never before in the history of the world was a country formed around the proposition that "all men are created equal".

In those words were the seeds that eventually ended the peculiar institution of slavery. The tragedy is that it took a civil war to end it. 700,000 Americans died to settle the issue once and for all.

President Joe Biden’s administration is considering a plan that would give border crossers, who were subjected to former President Donald Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” policy, about $450,000 each in a reparations-style payout.

Trump had instituted the Zero Tolerance policy at the United States-Mexico border in 2018 to reduce illegal immigration. The policy, as Breitbart News reported at the time, had been effective since at least before 2001.

As a result of the policy, adult border crossers were often put into separate holding facilities from the children they arrived with at the southern border. Since then, the border crossers who were subjected to the policy have sued the federal government.

The Biden administration, the Wall Street Journal reveals, is now weighing whether to provide those border crossers with $450,000 each as part of a payout in the lawsuits filed.

In some instances, a migrant family could secure about $1 million from such a payout, more than some of the American families received following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The payout, overall, could cost American taxpayers more than $1 billion.

The Journal reports:

The Biden administration is in talks to offer immigrant families that were separated during the Trump administration around $450,000 a person in compensation, according to people familiar with the matter, as several agencies work to resolve lawsuits filed on behalf of parents and children who say the government subjected them to lasting psychological trauma. [Emphasis added]

The U.S. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services are considering payments that could amount to close to $1 million a family, though the final numbers could shift, the people familiar with the matter said. Most of the families that crossed the border illegally from Mexico to seek asylum in the U.S. included one parent and one child, the people said. Many families would likely get smaller payouts, depending on their circumstances, the people said. [Emphasis added]

In another instance, a Department of Homeland Security attorney involved in the settlement talks complained on a conference call that the payouts could amount to more than some families of 9/11 victims received, one person said. Other people said senior departmental officials were in alignment on the amount and disputed the 9/11 comparison, given that the U.S. government hadn’t been responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The 9/11 victim compensation fund averaged awards to the dead of around $2 million, tax-free, at the time an unprecedented payout, the administrator of the fund has said. [Emphasis added]

“It would be unthinkable to pay damages to a burglar who broke into your home for the ‘psychological trauma’ they endured during the crime,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said in a statement. “And yet the Biden administration wants to reward migrants who illegally entered our country with up to $450,000 each for just that reason.”

“The Biden administration’s promises of citizenship and entitlement programs have already caused the worst border crisis in history — a huge cash reward will make it even worse. This is the height of insanity,” Cotton said.

Fellow-citizens! there is no matter in respect to which, the people of the North have allowed themselves to be so ruinously imposed upon, as that of the pro-slavery character of the Constitution. In that instrument I hold there is neither warrant, license, nor sanction of the hateful thing; but interpreted, as it ought to be interpreted, the Constitution is a GLORIOUS LIBERTY DOCUMENT. Read its preamble, consider its purposes. Is slavery among them? Is it at the gateway? or is it in the temple? it is neither. While I do not intend to argue this question on the present occasion, let me ask, if it be not somewhat singular that, if the Constitution were intended to be, by its framers and adopters, a slave-holding instrument, why neither slavery, slaveholding, nor slave can anywhere be found in it.

The liberal Democrats are blocking it right now anyhow

Liberals on Thursday vowed to block a popular infrastructure bill — a central piece of President Biden’s domestic agenda — just hours after the president urged their support and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced plans to bring the bipartisan proposal to the House floor for a vote the same day.

The move by dozens of members in the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) was hardly a departure of tactics: Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), who chairs the group, has said for months that liberals would oppose the infrastructure bill until there was a concrete agreement with Democratic centrists on a larger social spending package.

Still, their decision to hold that line constitutes a remarkable escalation of the high-stakes power struggle between Pelosi and the progressive members of her own caucus, who said they simply can’t back the infrastructure bill without greater assurances that a larger social spending bill will contain their priorities.

Interesting that there a virtual media blackout on reporting returns of early voting in Virginia.

(they don't know who voted for who but they know the party affiliation, it's public record.)

One may assume the early return are not good news for McAuffee.

You actually think it's indoctoration aka teaching them, to hate white people and of course become communist.

Your own words are nonsense

It's indoctorating opinions about how our children should feel about these things that is the issue.

You believe the Democrats are intentionally trying to become liberals.

You believe that teaching about our dark past. Is going to make them hate their ancestors is an attempt and justify their actions 200 years ago.

Objective thinking is beyond your abilities.

The pitch by Pelosi seems to be... don't worry about principles, how any of this affects the country...

Reasonable thinkers:
No, how the country is affected by this, that is to say, helped by this, is exactly what we should be concerned about.
