Are Democrats serious about replacing Kamala Harris as VP?

Ms 28% approval may not be the best choice for next in line

I recently read an article where the idea was floated that Harris would either step down or be provided a spot somewhere else in the Cabinet and then replaced by Hillary Clinton. Biden would then step down, making Clinton President and allowing her to run as the incumbent. Obviously this was just a theory and has plenty of holes, but sort of the kind of story we have been hearing about recently.

I am not sure I have ever seen a President and Vice President this early into their administration both being looked at as being on the chopping block.

The Party line on this will require that everyone pretend that Slow Joe is going to run again for President at the ripe young age of 82. After all, how much credibility does he have if people are openly looking for a replacement or if he were to come out and say he plans on being a one termer and not running for reelection. While that may very well be what happens, it would be ridiculous to suggest it less than a year into his Presidency.

But herein lies the rub.

The Vice President is  position that requires Senate Confirmation if you needed to nominate someone to Replace Harris. Since the old Vice President would no longer be Vice President, they would no longer be the 51st Vote. There doesn't appear to be a way for a nomination to be made and then confirmed for a position that is currently filled. meaning it appears unconstitutional that the old Vice President would remain the 51st vote long enough to confirm the new Vice President. There has to be an actual opening to fill a spot, not an upcoming opening.

So what chance  is there that anyone in the GOP would actually vote to confirm anyone being placed there for political reasons, much less vote to confirm Hillary Clinton.

Personally I would think that the Democrats would have moved passed Clinton (especially now that it is becoming obvious that she was in knee deep on the fake Russian dossier information). She lost to Trump when there was an overall climate advantage for the Democrats. She would lose worse in the current political climate that very much is favoring the GOP.

So is there any Democrat that the Republicans would vote to confirm, knowing that they are likely confirming the 2024 nominee into a position of prominence? Unlikely, unless something actually happens to Biden and Harris literally has to become President. Then there might be pressure to actually put someone in that spot. But if it is a willing move to replace Harris with someone more politically palatable? Doubtful you are going to find a candidate that Republicans will vote for.

Well that's nice alky. So Slow Joe finally did something right. That's one thing in a row.

Perhaps he can pick up the phone and call my governor - Cuomo with tits - and tell her that she's going full-on ape shit for nothing with her "State of Emergency."

Harris is not going to resign as VP. And you can't fire her. She knows she one 82 year old dementia man away from the presidency.

The more interesting scenario is that he decides to not run again and endorses Harris and she choses Pete Buttigieg.

The first mixed race Presidential candidate and the first gay man who is married and they have adopted a child.

She is not very popular right now but...if the economy continues to grow rapidly and like many people say that inflation rates will decline quickly enough, it would get very interesting.

Attack a female candidate, the white, educated middle class women would vote against hatred again.

And again you believe the deep staters are hiding Biden's mental deterioration with the assist of even Woodward..

If the pandemic fades away peacefully and the economy continues, including the BBB bill.. and the one rate drops to a record low level
..

Unless you divorce from Trump or another cultist, the MAGA nutcase scenario may change the past paths. And move forward instead of backward.

Scott, nothing terrifies American conservatives more than a woman of color in a position of power, especially when she’s doing her job well. Ask yourself: Why would President Joe Biden entrust our most sensitive diplomatic missions to repair our relationships in Europe and Central America to VP Harris,.28% if he had lost faith in her?

Anyone who’s paid attention to our vice president over her groundbreaking career, knows that she comes to work completely prepared every day; that she is brilliant, principled, effective, and caring; and that she is an incredible asset to our country and role model for women and girls around the world.

Ronny Jackson Claims Omicron Is a Democratic Hoax
November 29, 2021 at 5:14 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 68 Comments

“Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) says omicron is just the latest deep state plot to distract America,” New York Daily News reports.

“The former White House physician claimed the worrisome variant is a hoax that Democrats will use to impose new Covid-19 mail-in ballot rules.”

Said Jackson:
“Here comes the MEV — the Midterm Election Variant! They NEED a reason to push unsolicited nationwide mail-in ballots Democrats will do anything to CHEAT during an election — but we’re not going to let them!”

HOW CAN YOU STOP THEM? They've managed somehow to get numerous African and other world leaders on the side of their "hoax"!

They sure are a lot more skillful at creating "hoaxes" than ole Donald ever was!

Speaking about hoaxers

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas continues to bash Dr. Fauci, tweeting on Sunday that he's "an unelected technocrat who has distorted science and facts in order to exercise authoritarian control over millions of Americans," and spreading a repulsive conspiracy theory insinuating that Fauci somehow had a hand in creating the virus. "I'm just going to do my job and I'm going to be saving lives and they're going to be lying," Dr. Fauci said in response to GOP conspiracy theories about him — theories clearly meant to undermine his authority when he continues to advocate for vaccination.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia also doubled down on vaccine discouragement in response to the Omicron variant, insisting that the horse deworming drug ivermectin is the real solution. She even encouraged her followers to sue hospitals for COVID-19 deaths because doctors won't prescribe this useless drug. That's the modern GOP in a nutshell: First, get people killed by telling them to refuse vaccines, and then blame the only people who actually tried to save those lives for the deaths.

That this is a deliberate strategy and not just idiocy was confirmed yet again over the weekend through the actions of Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina, who gave two separate interviews — one on Fox News and one on CNN — where she offered extremely different claims about the vaccine. For her Fox New audience, Mace claimed "natural immunity gives you 27 times more protection against future COVID than a vaccination." On CNN, while trying to hoodwink the Jonathan Chaits of the world into thinking Republicans aren't that bad, she claimed she wanted people to get vaccinated.

And Donald Trump Jr., always ready to be the sweaty id of the GOP, went on Fox News and praised the anti-vaccine rioters in Europe, claiming they're standing up for "freedom." In reality, it has little to do with freedom and more to do with far-right groups in Europe spreading the same conspiracy theories about the vaccine as the right in America does.

This is the same GOP that has supported Donald Trump despite his attempted coup and instigating a violent riot on the Capitol. Indeed, this is the same party that, inspired by Trump, is rewriting election laws and reorganizing election boards to make it far easier for Trump to succeed when he tries to steal the 2024 election. They care not one bit about this country or its people, just their own pursuit of power. So of course the emergence of a new COVID-19 variant, which could kill way more people, isn't giving them any pause.

President Biden has repaid the native Americans by banning unwanted drilling on their sacred property...

On November 15th, Biden announced a proposal for a 20-year ban on oil and gas drilling in Chaco Canyon, located in northwest New Mexico. The justification for the ban is the proximity to the Chaco Culture National Historical Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; as such, the proposal would see a halt to all oil and gas drilling on federal lands within 10 miles of the park. The ban would be carried out by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), which falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of the Interior (DOI).

“Chaco Canyon is a sacred place that holds deep meaning for the Indigenous peoples whose ancestors lived, worked, and thrived in that high desert community,” said DOI Secretary Deb Haaland in a statement. “Now is the time to consider more enduring protections for the living landscape that is Chaco, so that we can pass on this rich cultural legacy to future generations.”

On the same day he announced the ban, Biden hosted a summit of Native American tribal leaders at the White House.

“These efforts, to use the word my dad would use so much, is a matter of dignity,” Biden said from the White House. “That’s the foundation of our nation to nation partnership.” Biden also claimed that his administration would work to “comprehensively incorporate tribal ecological knowledge” into future efforts to fight so-called “global warming.”

Plus he released billions of gallons of gasoline to reduce the prices imposed by the oil companies.

Walmart CEO says Biden supply chain push is easing bottlenecks
President and CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon takes part in a strategic and policy CEO discussion with U.S. President Donald Trump in the Eisenhower Execution Office Building in Washington
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Walmart Inc Chief Executive Doug McMillon on Monday hailed the Biden administration's efforts to ease supply chain bottlenecks as the holiday season gets underway, noting the decision to extend port hours was having a positive impact on the flow of goods.

"We are seeing progress. The port and transit delays are improving," McMillon told President Joe Biden during a White House meeting with CEOs to discuss supply chain issues.

"Because of what you all did to help with overnight hours, and because of the team's work to reroute to other ports, to extend our lead times, and have other creative solutions, we have seen an increase in throughput over the last four weeks of about 26% nationally in terms of getting containers through ports," he said, joining the meeting virtually.

McMillon added that Walmart had noticed a 51% improvement in flow through Southern California ports, a big help for key holiday categories like toys.

Biden, who is wrestling with U.S. inflation that recently hit a 31-year high, has taken measures to try to break supply chain logjams, including unclogging ports and expanding trucker hours that were causing inflation rates to rise.

The pandemic has unleashed a historic burst in entrepreneurship and self-employment. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are striking out on their own as consultants, retailers and small-business owners.

The move helps explain the ongoing shake-up in the world of work, with more people looking for flexibility, anxious about covid exposure, upset about vaccine mandates or simply disenchanted with pre-pandemic office life. It is also aggravating labor shortages in some industries and adding pressure on companies to revamp their employment policies.

The number of unincorporated self-employed workers has risen by 500,000 since the start of the pandemic, Labor Department data show, to 9.44 million. That is the highest total since the financial-crisis year 2008, except for this summer. The total amounts to an increase of 6% in the self-employed, while the overall U.S. employment total remains nearly 3% lower than before the pandemic.

The Democratic party has to use this to help Biden's approval ratings....

These people have lost their minds....

Leftists are different from you and me.  Unlike us, they care that every vote is cast, and if you do not cast your vote, they will do it for you.  And they did.  At scale.

In one Midwestern state, voter rolls costing tens of thousands of dollars were bought by a billionaire leftist every month for over a year.  Why would someone buy a list that doesn't change much?

The Award-winning Israeli Mask Everyone is Talking About in the US

Sonovia

Voter lists show people who move.  They show people who never or seldom vote.

The white hat canvassing team built a query for one state: "voters who voted in 2020 who never voted before."  Guess what!  265,000.

In the same state, thousands of people came forward with stories that when they showed up to vote, they were told someone had voted for them.  Get the picture?

In a southwestern state, in its second-largest city, there was a 21-day daily tabulation of cast ballots.  Once a ballot is cast, it should not be changed.  Not here.

When the millions of cast votes across over 21 snapshots were compared, thousands of ballots had been altered.  Some were minor alterations, like a slight name change.  Others were more interesting — like when someone voted in person, but his vote was later changed by an absentee ballot.

It gets better.

Those FOIA requests are mining gold.  Our midwestern state has documents showing that the state election organization gave online access to a leftist group for weeks during the voting.  Citizens had to pay over $20,000 for one snapshot of the voter roll.  Leftists could, and did, access it online throughout the process.  For free.

And access it they did.  Witness statements are being gathered, lots of them, that in the largest city, election officials were trading cell calls about how many votes were needed, and someone was then providing the phantoms to meet the quota.

They knew the names of the phantoms — they had direct access to who voted, who didn't, and who was likely to never show up.

This is not exclusively a blue-state phenomenon.

In a deep red state, canvassers found more traditional phantoms.

There were the 21 people at the fraternity house.  Nothing to see here — until they sorted them by age.  All these kids were active voters, many voted, and their age range was from 115 to 57.  Some frat house.

These red-state canvassers went deeper.  They showed that the phantoms did not vote en masse in the 2020 presidential election.  Phew!  Feeling better.  But wait.  They vote in droves in state, county, municipal elections.

Aha — here was another interesting pattern, never seen before.

This deep red state that voted for Trump by double-digit margins did not call out its phantom army when it could not move the needle.  When local, state elections were up, well, those people voted — even the 21 at the county jail and the 41 registered at the Recreation Commission.

In earlier American Thinker articles, we created the phrase "sovereign fraud."  That means your government is in on it.

As more than 35 state citizen organizations now are using the most advanced search and big data technology to look into voter rolls, and cross-check them with churches, R.V. parks, fictitious street locations, they are concluding the office of secretary of state is corrupt, incompetent, or often both

There’s a right way and a wrong way to think about inflation. Here’s a right way

Is there an economic term that strikes more fear into the hearts of consumers than “inflation”?

Probably not. When inflation is rising even modestly, it becomes Topic A in the press, on cable news and over the proverbial backyard hedges and dinner tables.

Inflation is commonly regarded as a ravager of family budgets, a destroyer of political fortunes and, at its most extreme, a trigger for the rise of fascism.

Inflation can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The result, investor and economic commentator Zachary Karabell writes, is that “any hint of inflation triggers the equivalent of PTSD in the ranks of central banks, economists, policymakers and millions of middle-class wage earners.”

Yet that was not always so — indeed, it’s not invariably so even today.

At the moment, we’re experiencing more than a mere hint of inflation. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that prices in October rose 6.2% over a year earlier, the largest 12-month increase in more than 30 years, or since November 1990. Core inflation — absent food and energy — rose 4.6% over the last 12 months, the largest such increase since August 1991.

More to the point, consumer psychology may play an outsized role in fomenting inflation, for consumer behavior inspired by inflation.

Not every consumer is affected by inflation in the same way; for some it’s even a blessing. It depends on what people treat as crucial purchases for the near term, on what they can defer or forgo entirely, and on the source of their income. If your wages are rising faster than the cost of your market basket, you may even regard inflation as your friend.

The roots of inflation fear are embedded memories of hyperinflationary periods of the past. The German hyperinflation of the 1920s contributed to the rise of Hitler and ingrained a horror of inflation in German economic policy — and therefore European economic policy — ever since.

More recently, there was the oil price-driven inflation of the 1970s and the “stagflation” period in the U.S., in which high unemployment and high inflation went confoundingly hand in hand.

The inflation of that era was quelled only after then-Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker orchestrated a recession and allowed interest rates to rise as much as was necessary to reduce the money supply.

Volcker’s medicine was harsh — mortgage rates exceeded 18%, investors abandoned the stock market for money market funds (on Aug. 13, 1979, the cover story in BusinessWeek carried the now-legendary headline “The Death of Equities”) and Jimmy Carter lost the 1980 presidential election to Ronald Reagan.

Despite the sharp rise in inflation in recent months (red line), inflation expectations as reflected in treasury bond rates (blue line), remain about where they’ve been since the turn of the 21st century.

But it worked. The annual inflation rate fell from 13.3% in 1979 to 1.1% in 1986, and the stock market, far from being moribund, embarked on an unprecedented series of bull runs.

With those recollections so relatively fresh, it’s often forgotten

Typically the impetus began in the farm belt, which often suffered from falling crop prices, especially when prices of agricultural land and equipment were rising and farmers could get no relief from crushing debt.

During the Great Depression, Franklin Roosevelt sought desperately for means to inject inflation — not too much, but just enough — into the economy to pull farmers out of a depression that had afflicted them virtually since the end of World War I.

Members of Roosevelt’s brain trust were certain that Herbert Hoover’s obsessive anti-inflation stance, especially his staunch defense of the gold standard, had exacerbated the economic slump in the U.S., especially after Britain and other European states abandoned gold.

Roger Amick said...

Economists place the causes of inflation into three main categories.

“Demand-pull” inflation comes from consumer spending in a growing economy, reflecting healthy consumer confidence and a willingness to borrow to finance consumption. “Cost-push” inflation comes from shortages of raw materials, labor and merchandise that aren’t available or aren’t produced enough to meet demand.

Finally, there is the expansion of the money supply — overexpansion, that is — resulting in more money sloshing around in the economy than can reasonably be spent on goods and services.

These causes all affect wages. Traditionally, wages have risen at a rate of about 1% higher than the consumer price index, reflecting economic improvement. When wages rise faster than that, businesses will complain about labor costs; when they fall behind, workers will feel trapped in an economy that fails them.

Today’s inflation environment bears all these features in one sense or another. Consumers have emerged from the long pandemic lockdowns in a mood to spend and travel; oil-producing countries have refused to increase output to meet resurgent demand, resulting in a sharp rise in the price of oil.

The port logjam and production slowdowns in computer microprocessors have contributed to merchandise shortages, driving up prices of cars and appliances. Federal pandemic relief programs, including augmented unemployment benefits, put money in household budgets. Workers’ resistance to returning to lousy jobs has forced employers to raise wages.

Inflation in the construction industry: Lumber prices peaked at $1,670.50 per 1,000 board-feet in May, and have since fallen to about $772, down by more than half.

The first factor is likely to fade in coming months and the second has already run its course. The third may persist, but of course wage increases will moderate or even overcome the impact of price increases on household budgets. Altogether, those factors suggest that the current inflation rate will fall, perhaps almost as sharply as it rose, through the beginning of next year.

That may explain why consumers’ and investors’ responses are essentially incoherent. The latest consumer confidence survey of the University of Michigan reached its lowest point in a decade this month, largely because of the recent surge in inflation.

Yet air travel is expected to exceed last year’s pandemic-suppressed level by 80% and Christmas spending will come close to the last pre-pandemic holiday season, 2019. On Wednesday, the Commerce Department reported that personal spending increased 1.3% in October, an unexpectedly large gain and the most since a 4.2% increase in March.

The report prompted JPMorgan Chase & Co. to revise its estimate of fourth-quarter economic growth to an annualized 7%, up from 5%, and Morgan Stanley to raise its projection to 8.7% from 3%.

So far, investors haven’t shown that they’re fazed by the inflation surge. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index, a measure of the overall stock market, is up by nearly 23% this year. Inflation expectations among bond investors, for whom inflation is an all-encompassing nemesis, have barely budged from an average projected rate of just over 2% for the next five years, even as short-term inflation has exploded.

As is almost always the case, the impact of inflation on families and individuals can depend not only on the price of necessary goods and services but on the choices people make for themselves.

Good night kputz

There are no signs that the inflation surge showing up in the latest statistics is caused by sustained overheating of the U.S. economy. The signs point to several short-term factors coming together all at once — trade logjams aka supply, a surge in post-pandemic demand for goods, limited step-ups in oil production, labor demands for a living wage.

Economist Stephanie Kelton calls the economic gains resulting from the miraculous development of COVID-19 vaccines and generous pandemic relief spending “good problems to have.” Allowing near-term inflation fears to undermine longer-term investments would be penny-wise and just plain foolish.

Red Death.

It’s worth putting a fine point on a subject I raised earlier Monday: It is red America, Donald Trump-voting America, that has seen the worst effects of the pandemic. With divergent vaccination rates, with the unvaccinated population that’s most at risk being made up of Republicans at three times the rate of Democrats, that gap is poised to grow.

If we break down monthly case and death figures by county vote in 2020, we see that Trump counties have been hardest hit by the pandemic on a per capita basis since last year. If we throw in vaccination rates, we see that it is those same counties that have been the slowest to get vaccinated. As of April of this year, the most red and most blue counties in the country began to diverge on vaccination rates. As of writing, data compiled by The Washington Post suggests that the counties that voted most strongly for President Biden are fully vaccinated at a rate 40 percent higher than the rate in the counties that voted most strongly for Trump.

George W Bush has a conscious, and despite thinking differently about the Afghanistan War I agree with.

Opinion by Dana Milbank
November 29 at 3:56 PM PST
I’m old enough to remember when Republican leaders still had souls.
Twenty years ago, I was on the White House beat for The Post when President George W. Bush, six days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, set aside his war planning efforts long enough to visit the mosque at the Islamic Center of Washington to admonish Americans not to take out their anger on innocent Muslims. I went to the mosque, on Massachusetts Avenue overlooking Rock Creek Park, and reported on the presidential visit:
“The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam,” said the president, escorted by Islamic clerics into the ornate mosque full of Turkish tile, Persian rugs and Egyptian paintings. “Islam is peace.”
Quoting from the Koran’s prohibitions against evil, Bush said women who cover their heads should not fear leaving their homes. “That’s not the America I know,” he said. “That should not and that will not stand in America.”
Some conservatives objected at the time to Bush’s pro-Islam appeals, and pointed out, correctly, that he gained nothing politically from this message. But he gained much morally.
Contrast that with Republican officials’ latest actions over the holiday weekend, while the rest of the country paused to express gratitude for our many blessings. Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, a QAnon-admiring Republican, referred to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who is Muslim, as part of a “Jihad Squad” and told an audience a false story of a worried Capitol Police officer chasing down Omar. Boebert claimed she said: “Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine.”

Aside from his crimes against humanity, especially the tragic toll on senior citizens and young people, Fauci has clearly committed a number of crimes including lying to Congress and the American people in his official capacity and misappropriating federal funds on ghoulish scientific experiments.

He violated the Hatch Act by using his government post for political purposes; for example, the weekend before the 2020 election, Fauci told the Washington Post that Joe Biden “is taking [the pandemic] seriously from a public health perspective,” but that Trump was only looking at it from an economic standpoint. Contradicting the president, Fauci warned the country was in for a “world of hurt” with rising COVID-19 cases and that “all the stars are aligned in the wrong place as you go into the fall and winter season.”

Fauci has repeatedly and treasonously defended the Chinese Communist Party, something he did yet again in his interview with Brennan.

Axios

The emergence of the Omicron COVID variant is turbocharging the push for vaccine boosters, and experts say a booster may soon become a requirement to be considered "fully vaccinated."

Why it matters: Booster uptake has been sluggish so far, and adding a third shot to vaccine mandates would be highly controversial.

What they're saying: "It's now abundantly clear we all need the boosters," Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, told Axios.

But the estimated 83 million vaccinated Americans who haven't gotten a booster are "more and more vulnerable every day to infection and potentially serious illness with their waning immunity," he said.Bob Wachter, chairman of the University of California, San Francisco Department of Medicine, told Axios he expects vaccine mandates will soon include requiring boosters."If there is some level of immune evasion, but the vaccines continue to have some level of efficacy — which I think is likely — I think the 'boosters as part of mandate discussion' moves from a multi-month discussion to a multi-week discussion," Wachter said.

Driving the news: The CDC strengthened its COVID booster recommendation Monday, saying all adults should get a booster dose. The agency previously said only that adults "may" get the shot.

It came just hours after a national address by President Biden, who urged Americans to get vaccinated and get booster shots if they are eligible. And the Washington Post reported that Pfizer plans to request authorization soon for coronavirus boosters for 16- and 17-year-olds. The company did not respond to Axios' request for comment.

The big picture: While experts said there is much we don't yet know about the variant, they believe it's unlikely that the virus will be able to totally evade the vaccines — which bolsters the booster case.

"It won't blow vaccines away, but it could compromise protection to a degree that is yet unquantifiable," Cornell virologist John Moore told Axios. "It would make sense for anyone who's been holding off on getting their booster to do so because it will give an additional kick to antibody levels.""We're trying to put a wall between infection and serious illness, hospitalization and death. These vaccines as we have them now represent the best opportunity to do that," Osterholm said.

What to watch: "The other warning sign that will be watched for is, 'Is there a significant increase in the number of hospitalized vaccine recipients who have Omicron?'" Moore said.

"If you start to see a wave of severely ill, vaccinated people with Omicron, that would tell us a lot. And that would of course take many, many weeks before it becomes visible."

IOW. The booster shots are not dangerous, so getting the injection is not a socialist scam. It will not hurt you and it may save lives both red and blue.

Science will include further research. The bottom line is that it may save your life and the lives of others..

It should not be political..

The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday will consider a case that could fundamentally transform abortion rights in America by overturning Roe v. Wade and clearing the way for stringent new restrictions on abortion in roughly half the country.

"This is the most important Supreme Court case on abortion since Roe in 1973, and I don't think it's particularly close," said Sherif Girgis, Notre Dame law professor and former clerk to Justice Samuel Alito.

The justices will hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health over a Mississippi law that prohibits termination of pregnancies after 15 weeks. Lower courts have found the ban plainly unconstitutional under the half century of legal precedent since Roe and put it on hold.

Yeah asshole rat....that Vermont is truly a Vax failure with numbers like these!!!!!!

1. Vermont ties all-time high for COVID hospitalizations on Monday

Vermont health officials Monday reported that 68 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, tying the all-time high set just last week.

The state reported an average of 330 cases per day over the Thanksgiving holiday, and four more deaths.

The positivity rate jumped to 4.5%, and 82% of eligible Vermonters have gotten at least one dose of a COVID vaccine, including more than 34% of 5-to-11-year-olds.

I'd imagine these states would be claiming a win if they had Vt's rate!!!!

States ranked by COVID-19 test positivity rates: Nov. 24
Oklahoma: 49.6% New Daily Cases: 1056. Tests per 100k: 50.9.
Iowa: 47.8% New Daily Cases: 1248. Tests per 100k: 62.3.
Kansas: 36.7% New Daily Cases: 155. Tests per 100k: 104.6.

Republicans suck

President Joe Biden had hoped to return from the Thanksgiving holiday bearing good news about his moves to get the economy back on track, his administration's effort to fix the supply chain crisis and hopes for a holiday season where Americans could gather safely with families and friends.

Instead, the President is stuck again in an uncomfortably familiar place: a zone of uncertainty.

Elected by voters who believed he could create a new era of stability, Biden is facing volatile markets, Americans anxious about the health of their families and a vacuum of information about how well the current vaccines will protect against the new coronavirus variant known as Omicron -- placing his administration in a "wait and see" mode that could last for at least a week, if not several more.

About the only thing Biden can count on in this politically precarious moment is that he is still unlikely to get any help from Republicans in his effort to carve a path out of the pandemic by encouraging people to face down the new threat by getting vaccinated and getting their booster shots.

Instead of greeting the Omicron threat as a moment for the nation to pull together and redouble mitigation measures to fight the virus, Republicans like Texas' Rep. Ronny Jackson, a doctor, leaped at the chance to gin up misinformation.

Jackson sent a ludicrous tweet suggesting that Democrats had invented a new "midterm election variant" so they could push "unsolicited nationwide mail-in ballots" as part of a conspiracy to rig the elections next year. Jackson was helped along in pushing that unfounded theory by Fox News personality Pete Hegseth, who told his audience to "count on a variant about every October, every two years."

At this point, there has been no concerted effort by the GOP to push back on those dangerous claims.

Trump called insurrectionists at Willard Hotel hours before Jan 6 riot: report

Bob Brigham

November 30, 2021

New information is being reported on Donald Trump's role in the hours leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"Sources have told the Guardian that just hours before the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol this year, Donald Trump made several calls from the White House to top lieutenants at the Willard Hotel in Washington to discuss ways to stop or delay the certification of Joe Biden’s election win from taking place on 6 January," The Guardian reported Tuesday.

Even though Republicans lost the 2020 election, Trump said on Jan. 6 that it was important for the GOP to hold the White House despite losing.

"THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, OUR COUNTRY, NEEDS THE PRESIDENCY MORE THAN EVER BEFORE - THE POWER OF THE VETO. STAY STRONG!" Trump tweeted in all capital letters on the morning of Jan. 6.

The Guardian explained why their new reporting is significant.

"Trump’s remarks reveal a direct line from the White House and the command center at the Willard," the newspaper reported. "The conversations also show Trump’s thoughts appear to be in line with the motivations of the pro-Trump mob that carried out the Capitol attack. He phoned his lieutenants at the Willard sometime between the late evening on 5 January and the early hours of 6 January after becoming furious at Pence for refusing to do him a final favor."

Trump Had NO Intelligence Briefings After January 6

November 30, 2021 at 7:56 am EST By Taegan Goddard 28 Comments

Daily Beast:
“After a holiday break where he didn’t receive a classified intelligence briefing, President Donald Trump was supposed to get one on Jan. 6, 2021—the day he incited a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol. It didn’t happen. And then he didn’t get one for the rest of his presidency.

“The situation in the waning days of Trump’s presidency was so uncommon that it actually caused concern among some administration officials that Trump was losing touch with reality, as he was getting unhinged advice on domestic issues from Justice Department attorneys and outside counsel that openly advocated rejecting election results.”

AND IF YOU THOUGHT THAT WAS BAD:

Trump Heads to Court to Block January 6 Documents

November 30, 2021 at 7:54 am EST By Taegan Goddard 10 Comments

CNN REPORTS
“Former President Donald Trump faces a major test in Washington on Tuesday, as he attempts to convince a federal appeals court he should be able to keep records from his presidency from the House select committee that’s investigating the January 6 US Capitol riot,” CNN reports.

“The arguments are likely to be an uphill battle for the former President. The Biden administration and the House are aligned against him in wanting transparency about communications in the West Wing as Trump sought to overturn the 2020 election result and his supporters raided the Capitol. Trump lost his first round in court in the case, more quickly and resoundingly than his losses when he tried to claim broad protections from investigations while he was President.”

TRANSPARENCY IS SOMETHING TRUMP HATES. WHY?

rrb said...

But the idiot incognito alky says it's republicans who are to blame -

Plummeting polls are sending a clear message to the Biden administration, but the president is deaf, dumb and blind to it. And it’s not just the polls. Take congressional retirements. Democrats who chair congressional committees, reading the grim poll numbers, figure life will be a lot more comfortable as highly paid lobbyists than as powerless minority members. They are retiring in droves. Historically, retirements by well-informed insiders are strong predictors of the next House majority.

Local elections are sending the same message. They tell Democrats they have moved too far left and that voters’ quality of life is suffering. Voters are especially troubled by inflation, Covid and crime. They are also concerned about illegal immigration, the flood tide of drugs crossing the border, and indoctrination in schools.

Red States See Highest Rates of Covid Deaths

Philip Bump:
“It is red America, Donald Trump-voting America, that has seen the worst effects of the pandemic.

With divergent vaccination rates, with the unvaccinated population that’s most at risk being made up of Republicans at three times the rate of Democrats, that gap is poised to grow.

“If we break down monthly case and death figures by county vote in 2020, we see that Trump counties have been hardest hit by the pandemic on a per capita basis since last year. If we throw in vaccination rates, we see that it is those same counties that have been the slowest to get vaccinated.”

Trump swears he never called any of his allies at the Willard 'war room' for help on Jan. 6

Sarah K. Burris

November 30, 2021

Former President Donald Trump is disputing a Guardian report that he called his allies that were stationed at a "war room" at the Washington, D.C. Willard hotel, which is just steps from the White House.

According to Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell, Trump spokesperson Liz Harrington said "This is totally false," without giving any details as to what she was disputing.

The report was released over a week ago and Trump is only now responding to the report claimed that Trump made "several calls" to the "top lieutenants" to tell them that Vice President Mike Pence seemed like he wasn't going to dispute the election. He then reportedly pressed the war room staff about other ways to stop Joe Biden from becoming president.

Trump's Willard hotel 'war room' targeted in new round of Capitol riot subpoenas.

"Multiple sources, speaking to the Guardian on the condition of anonymity, described Trump’s involvement in the effort to subvert the results of the 2020 election," wrote Lowell.

Trump’s call would reveal a direct line from the White House to the organizers of the Jan. 6 attack at the Willard. Among those in the hotel war room were a team led by Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Boris Epshteyn and former strategist Steve Bannon, who has refused to testify to the Jan. 6 House investigatory committee about his involvement.

Anonymous sources destroyed Nixon.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A federal judge has ruled that the four former Minneapolis police officers facing civil rights charges in the murder of George Floyd will stand trial together

The judge denied a motion by J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, and Tou Thao to separate the federal trial. Derek Chauvin along with Kueng, Lane, and Thao are accused of depriving Floyd of his rights while acting under government authority during his killing in May of 2020.

The defendants had hoped to break up the trial, similar to how Chauvin was tried separately of Kueng, Lane, and Thao in district court earlier this year. Chauvin was found guilty of murder in that case but has filed for an appeal. The other three former police officers are still awaiting trial, with their case delayed to 2022 due to the federal proceedings.

In the determination, the judge said that, unlike Minnesota state courts, it is more common for defendants in federal cases to be tried together. With that and the overlap in the cases, the judge determined it was fitting for the cases to be joined together.

The judge also denied a motion to strike the indictment against Kueng and Lane due to the fact they were recent hires when Floyd was killed.

Now speaking for the first time about Epstein and Trump's close friendship, she tells DailyMail.com that they were the 'big cojones' in a group of rich and powerful men who became disturbing fixtures on the pageant scene.

'They were both seducing women with their money. Trump really came off like he was hot stuff. They had no trouble,' she says.
