But data released yesterday by the Minnesota Department of Health cast doubt on the effectiveness of the vaccines, even as to those who receive them. For the week ending November 8, 111 out of 168 newly announced “covid deaths”–66%–were among the fully vaccinated. Likewise, 347 out of 883 hospital admissions for covid (or with covid)–39%–were of the fully vaccinated. (Via Healthy Skeptic.) There is nothing unique about Minnesota, so I assume that these numbers are being replicated, more or less, elsewhere.
In Minnesota, only 61% of the population is fully vaccinated. So it doesn't take a math major or someone with a genius level IQ to determine that if 66% of the newly announced "Covid deaths" are among the fully vaccinated and that 61% of the state is fully vaccinated, that there is a problem with the vaccination argument. By statistical fact, those who are fully vaccinated died at a rate higher than those who were not fully vaccinated.
Now there may be some alternate reasons for this other than the vaccine not actually preventing deaths. Perhaps this is skewed by the fact that older people are more likely to be fully vaccinated and more likely to die from Covid. But even that is a dubious argument "for" the vaccine preventing deaths. There should be no "excuses" and the numbers should be overwhelming.
However, it does appear that the vaccination is preventing hospital admissions. But that could also be explained by the fact that the unvaccinated might be more inclined to go in to the Hospital precisely because they have not been vaccinated. On the flip side someone vaccinated for Covid might be less concerned about symptoms and avoid going to the hospital for that reason.
Either way, while this doesn't suggest that people should not vaccinate, the idea of a mandate to "protect" people seems to be an extremely weak argument at this point. But the powers to be have blinders on at this point. No logic or statistics is going to change these people's minds and even if it did, I doubt people in charge would ever admit being wrong about it.

And I suggest once again Lil Schitty is opining out his old white ass if he thinks vax's are ineffective....Dayum, what little grey matter you had left just vanished, Scott as trump and the GOP idiots have eaten you fucking brain!!!!!!! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Since I took the vaccine and I have co-morbidities I hope the studies are wrong.
Hey Denny...
I am same same color as you, Roger, the Reverend, the President, the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority leader, the Governor of Minnesota, and the Governor of Washington.
So what is your point? Is Biden a bad President because he has a wrinkly leaking white ass rather than a wrinkly leaking black, brown, or yellow ass?
he thinks vax's are ineffective.
Just citing the math, Denny.
I know you don't care for math.
I started looking at info about John Hinderaker, the author of the article above cited by Ch, and this is a portion of what I found:
Stance on Climate Change
“Global warming hysteria is politics, not science. If the IPCC enterprise were science, it would at least make a good faith effort to deal with major defects in the temperature data, like the UHIE. Alarmists refuse to address the UHIE [Urban Heat Island Effect] not because they have a plausible case that it doesn’t exist–they don’t–but because there is an enormous amount of money being made by promoting “green” energy. You should read the comments to Dr. Spencer’s post; they draw out the difficulty of properly understanding and quantifying the urban heat island effect.
“The fact is that global warming alarmism is a well-funded industry. The United States government alone has contributed billions of dollars to promote global warming alarmists, and nothing to the voices of scientific sanity. What is going on here is that the alarmists, knowing their science is shaky at best, cannot tolerate diversity of thought. They know that if critics are allowed to exist, their “scientific” house of cards will come tumbling down. So they must silence every dissenting voice; otherwise, the gravy train might end.
"It isn’t pretty, but this is what happens when you make science subservient to a political agenda.”
SOUNDS LIKE THAT LAST SENTENCE IS EXACTLY WHAT HE IS DOING!
Well Reverend...
Hinderacker didn't come up with the numbers. Those numbers came from Minnesota Department of Health. I compared those to the numbers from usafact.org which tracks the vaccination rate by state.
So the numbers have nothing to do with Hinderacker or myself. If you have a problem with the interpretation of them, please provide your arithmetic critique. I am sure it will be dazzling.
Do you really believe that vaccine that was created by Trump and Wrap Speed is a hoax to use the government to impose restrictions and travel restrictions imposed by Trump?????
Bonkers
He's exactly right. Global warming alarmist hijacked climate science to create the biggest grift in human history. Consider these facts.
1. Every dire predictions forecast by the IPCC has been Spectacularly wrong every damn one. The Malvinas are still above water so is every pacific island predicted to disappear under the sea.
2. Every time the so called climate leaders gather they burn a carbon footprint bigger than a developing country.
3. The refuse to sanction China they biggest contributor to carbon dioxide. Wisely, both China and India never attend those conference.

NYT.
Pfizer and BioNTech asked federal regulators on Tuesday to expand authorization of their coronavirus booster shot to include all adults, a move that could significantly expand the number of recipients who are eligible for booster shots.
The Food and Drug Administration is considered likely to grant the request, perhaps before Thanksgiving, according to people familiar with the situation. If it does so, all adults who have been fully vaccinated with shots made by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson would all be eligible for a Pfizer booster, the people said.
The federal government has been intent on broadening the categories of people eligible for additional injections since the first booster shots were authorized for emergency use in late September.
An advisory board of outside experts to the Food and Drug Administration voted in September against a request from Pfizer to offer shots to all adults who had received two injections of its vaccine.
Instead, the committee recommended booster shots on an emergency basis for those 65 and older or at high risk of Covid-19 because of their medical conditions or jobs. Those categories, later authorized for both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, were still broad enough to cover at least 60 percent of the population, administration officials said.
Experts remain divided on whether booster shots are necessary for the rest of the population, with many insisting that the vaccines continue to offer robust protection against severe disease and hospitalization, especially for younger people without underlying medical conditions. And there is virtually unanimous agreement that vaccinating the roughly 60 million Americans ages 12 and older who have yet to receive even their first shot should remain the government’s highest priority.
For younger, healthy people, the benefits of a booster injection will be marginal, according to Dr. Eric Rubin, a member of the F.D.A.’s advisory panel and an adjunct professor of immunology at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.
Even so, some leading experts argue that the case for booster shots for the general population is stronger now than it was two months ago. Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the federal government’s top infectious disease expert, said earlier this month that most recent data from Israel shows that nation’s aggressive booster campaign has dramatically limited rates of severe disease, hospitalization and death.
The F.D.A. has the authority to modify Pfizer-BioNTech’s current emergency use authorization and is not expected to reconvene its advisory panel.
President Biden said in August that he wanted all adults to be eligible for booster shots because of concerns that the vaccines’ protection against infection wanes over time. The administration was aiming to roll out boosters by the third week of September, but was forced to delay after regulators said they needed more time to analyze the data.
At this point, adult recipients of both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are eligible for a third shot six months after their second injection if they are at least 65 years old or considered at special risk.
The libertarian views are putting thousands of lives at risk.
Do you really believe that vaccine that was created by Trump and Wrap Speed is a hoax to use the government to impose restrictions and travel restrictions imposed by Trump?????
What I know Roger...
Is that higher percentage of vaccinated individuals died in the past month in Minnesota than than unvaccinated individuals.
What I believe is that the vaccine helps, but that the effectiveness is generally assumed to be much better than it actually is. My opinion is that the current vaccine is not anywhere's solid enough to justify a very intrusive mandate of a medical decision to the masses.
I think these decisions to mandate is political and no longer scientific from a medical standpoint. By these same standards there are literally 1000's of things our Government could "mandate" under the guise of community safety.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/09/us/politics/pfizer-booster-approval-adults.html
Is that higher percentage of vaccinated individuals died in the past month in Minnesota than than unvaccinated individuals.
Because the percentage of the deaths are among older and overweight adults, not because the vaccine is not worth the risk.
Your libertarian views on government are a distinct minority.
And unfortunately thousands of lives have been lost. Because of people like you.
I am curious Roger...
Do you understand the statistics?
Do you have an actual disagreement with those statistics or how I presented them? Or are you just going to ignore them and stick your head in the sand.
Don't know how much clearer this could be.
In a state of almost 6 million Americans (which is a significant sample) those with the vaccine are dying at a higher rate than those who are unvaccinated. If you don't see a problem with that, then you are simply choosing not to look it at.

The NIH should be doing a long-term study of natural immunity instead of torturing thousands of beagle puppies, including cutting their voice box to avoid barking sounds (sick). All taxpayer funded. All our health agencies need fresh new leadership.
My Johns Hopkins research team is leading a long-term study of natural immunity because the NIH and CDC are not doing it. They have $50 billion and 30,000 employees and yet can't seen to conduct one of the most important studies we need done to inform the public.
As people continue to ask if natural immunity is durable, public health officials continue to say "we don't know". Well study it! Our health agencies continue to fail us time and time again.
In the next several weeks, we'll find out the results of our Hopkins study.
I'm sure that Ch, in the interest of free speech, will not object to this Powerline reader blowing his man Hinderker's argument to pieces.
So I guess this is the dazzling critique he was requesting.

The conclusion that vaccines are ineffective is a simple statistical fallacy, easily refuted by the data on the Minnesota website. The fallacy arises since the data have not been broken out by age group and normalized to rate per unit, such as deaths per 100K. That’s necessary because for Covid the death rate triples every decade of age. Moreover, older people have higher vaccination rates than younger people. So, when not adjusting for age, it’s not surprising that we see more deaths in the vaccinated than the unvaccinated, since older vaccinated people have higher death rates than younger unvaccinated people.
However, we need to compare death rates by age category between vaccinated and unvaccinated populations to reach a valid conclusion.
Published research shows that vaccines remain over 90% effective against death, even for older people. We can check whether that holds up in the Minnesota data. Minnesota breaks out Covid deaths by age group on its website. For example, if we look at data between 5/2/21 and 10/03/21, we can see in the 50-64 category, the death rate per 100K was 0.2 for the vaccinated and 2.1 for the unvaccinated. That’s a vaccine efficacy of (0.2-2.1)/2.1 = -.9, or 90%. In the 65+ category, the death rate among the vaccinated is 1.8 and is 29.3 unvaccinated. So the vaccine efficacy against death is (1.8-29.3)/29.3 = -.94 or 94%. That’s excellent protection against death and in agreement with numerous published studies.
We can also check whether vaccine efficacy against death holds up over time by shortening the data window to recent data. Looking at Minnesota data between 08/24/21 and 10/03/21, we see that for the 50-64 category, vaccine efficacy is (0.4 - 5.5)/5.5 = -.93, or 93% efficacy. Similarly, in the 65+ category, we find (4.5-85.1)/85.1 = -.95, or 95%. Vaccine efficacy against death does not seem to be decaying.
It must be remembered that the powerline writers are not statisticians. This is a great blog I almost always agree with, but caution is warranted on the part of both readers and writers when the arguments turn statistical. Readers, especially older readers, should not be misled into thinking the vaccine won’t protect you. It will protect you very substantially. I just got my Moderna booster yesterday.
You ignored the fact that most of them had preexisting life threatening conditions. Heart and again liver cancer and mental illness.

The house of Representatives today issuing subpoenas to 10 people close to the former president.
Trump’s ex-press secretary Kayleigh McEnany’s name notably appears on that list.
“The investigation and public accounts have revealed credible evidence of your involvement in the events within the scope of the Select Committee’s inquiry,” the letter to McEnany states.
Rattling off the former secretary’s false claims about the 2020 presidential election, the letter quoted McEnany alleging that there are “very real claims” of fraud that the Trump re-election campaign brought. McEnany sowed fears about mail-in voting, erroneously asserting those ballots were “particularly prone to fraud,” the letter said.
Describing an episode recounted in Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker’s book “I Alone Can Fix It,” the letter placed McEnany with Trump when the former president traveled to the Ellipse at the so-called “Stop the Steal” rally. The then-press secretary reportedly “popped in and out” to join Trump as he watched the attack on the U.S. Capitol later that afternoon.
Aside from McEnany, the other recipients of the subpoenas include:
Trump’s ex-Senior Advisor Stephen Miller;
Ex-personal assistant Nicholas Luna;
Molly Michael, ex-Special Assistant to the President and Oval Office Operations Coordinator;
Benjamin Williamson, ex-Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows;
Christopher Liddell, ex-White House Deputy Chief of Staff;
John McEntee, ex-White House Personnel Director;
Keith Kellogg, ex-Vice President Mike Pence’s National Security Advisor;
Cassidy Hutchinson, ex-Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs;
andKenneth Klukowski, ex-Senior Counsel to Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark.
The Committee’s Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) has been doling out subpoenas at a furious pace, adding Tuesday’s batch of 10 on top of another stack of six issued Monday to people associated with Trump’s so-called “war room” inside the Willard Hotel, a short distance away from the White House.
“The Select Committee wants to learn every detail of what went on in the White House on January 6th and in the days beforehand,” Thompson said in a statement. “We need to know precisely what role the former President and his aides played in efforts to stop the counting of the electoral votes and if they were in touch with anyone outside the White House attempting to overturn the outcome of the election. We believe the witnesses subpoenaed today have relevant information and we expect them to comply fully with the Select Committee’s investigation as we work to get answers for the American people, make recommendations on changes to the law to protect our democracy, and help ensure that nothing like January 6th ever happens again.”

Study shows dramatic decline in effectiveness of all three COVID-19 vaccines over time
As the Delta variant became the dominant strain of the coronavirus across the United States, all three COVID-19 vaccines available to Americans lost some of their protective power, with vaccine efficacy among a large group of veterans dropping between 35% and 85%, according to a new study.
Researchers who scoured the records of nearly 800,000 U.S. veterans found that in early March, just as the Delta variant was gaining a toehold across American communities, the three vaccines were roughly equal in their ability to prevent infections.
But over the next six months, that changed dramatically.
By the end of September, Moderna’s two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, measured as 89% effective in March, was only 58% effective.
The effectiveness of shots made by Pfizer and BioNTech, which also employed two doses, fell from 87% to 45% in the same period.
And most strikingly, the protective power of Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine plunged from 86% to just 13% over those six months.
The findings were published Thursday in the journal Science.

Trump Hammers McConnell Over Infrastructure Bill
6:22 pm EST
Former President Donald Trump put out with a statement ripping Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for supporting the bipartisan infrastructure bill while claiming he could have gotten a $2 trillion dollar infrastructure bill if not for McConnell’s opposition.
It was actually Trump who killed an infrastructure bill in 2019 in order to spite Democrats.

A final point: watch for leftists like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to tell us that the number of vaccinated “covid deaths” should be disregarded because the vast majority of those people didn’t actually die on account of covid. They died of cancer, fatal accident, etc., and coincidentally tested positive for covid. The same with hospitalizations.
Now they tell us! It has been true all along that the number of “covid deaths” has been grossly exaggerated, both because of liberal interpretations of covid death and on account of the cash bonus the federal government pays under Medicare if the covid box is checked, regardless of the actual cause of death. But this overcount of covid deaths is presumably the same for vaccinated and non-vaccinated persons, and therefore does not alter the fact that vaccination is proving not to be a reliable safeguard
They hate Medicare.
It is not science.

Liz Cheney unloads on GOP leaders: 'Willing hostages' to a 'dangerous and irrational man'
Brad Reed
November 09, 2021
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on former President Donald Trump and the Republican lawmakers who are enabling him.
During a speech at Saint Anselm College's Institute of Politics, Cheney delivered a blistering condemnation of Republican leaders who have stood by Trump even after he incited a riot and tried to overturn the certified results of a democratic election.
"We are... confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before," Cheney said. "A former president who's attempting to unravel the foundations of our Constitutional Republic, aided by political leaders who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man."
Cheney, who is one of two Republicans serving on the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riots, then went on to call out GOP leadership for inviting Trump to a fundraiser in which he continued to spout lies about the 2020 presidential election.
"He reportedly said once again that the insurrection was on November 3rd, and that the events on January 6th -- when a violent mob invaded the Capitol in an effort to overturn the will of the American people -- that those events were a protest," she said. "Political leaders who sit silently in the face of these false and dangerous claims are aiding the former president who is at war with the rule of law."

'Tuvalu is sinking': Island nation threatened by sea level rise looks for salvation
Yahoo News
GLASGOW, Scotland — “Tuvalu is sinking,” Finance Minister Seve Paeniu proclaims of his island nation as he sits down for an interview with Yahoo News at the U.N. Climate Change Conference.
With a population of just over 11,000 residents, Tuvalu is an idyllic South Pacific atoll consisting of nine low-lying islands whose highest elevation is roughly 15 feet. Thanks to sea level rise, each year that elevation shrinks a little bit more.
“We are now living the climate change in Tuvalu, we are seeing land fast disappearing,” says Paeniu, who emits an intensity with his bald head and piercing stare.
“That’s why we are here at COP26,” he says of the climate conference, “to tell our story to the world. The world needs to take action now, not to defer it to later years.”
Paeniu, 56, has seen firsthand how rising seas have begun eating away at his homeland.
“There’s inundation. Water’s just infiltrating the water links below the land, places where water doesn’t come through now is all flooded. There are storm surges when there are cyclones that just come and wash right across the whole land. ... Never that happened before,” Paeniu says. “We have land territory being submerged or disappearing where there used to be vegetation and agriculture.”
With no rivers or wells for fresh water, the residents of Tuvalu must collect rain for drinking water or import diesel desalination plants, though the latter solution is expensive.
As the ocean waters have advanced, agriculture has been made more precarious, and once-abundant fishing has also begun to turn.
“Food security has been severely threatened, and even our fisheries,” Paeniu says. “We see coral bleaching, acidification of the sea water, that’s now affecting our food supply.”
To make matters worse, tropical cyclones have been growing more powerful, thanks to rising land and ocean temperatures, leaving Tuvalu and other island nations at heightened risk.
“[Cyclone Tino] struck us in January of 2020, a Category 4 cyclone that was quite severe,” Paeniu says. “For houses that didn’t have stilts, the water just washes across those houses, so they lost their homes, their personal, private belongings. It also destroyed our stable root crop, which is swamp taro. They took out vegetation, so sea water just got into it, just destroyed the entire crop.”
Of the many risks that climate change represents for humanity, those faced by island nations are perhaps the most easily understood. And they are also among the most urgent.
“Islands are the canary in the coal mine in this situation,” former President Barack Obama said in a Monday speech at COP26. “They are sending a message now that if we don’t act — and act boldly — it’s going to be too late.”
Before his remarks, Obama had attended a session on island resilience and met with representatives from Fiji, the Marshall Islands and Grenada. Tuvalu’s Foreign Minister Simon Kofe filmed a message for the conference that he delivered while standing knee-deep in sea water to better illustrate the threat his nation faces.
While Paeniu says the residents of Tuvalu don’t want to leave their homeland, that has become a regular topic of conversation in the last few years.
“The government of Tuvalu is not actively encouraging people to migrate — that’s a quite clear policy direction. However, the government is facilitating and providing opportunities for people who chose to migrate out of Tuvalu because of the climate change impacts,” he says. “There are worker schemes, migrant worker schemes with Australia and New Zealand, where our people could go on short-term employment contracts. We are working on an initiative that eventually will be brought up within the U.N. system where if everything fails and Tuvalu becomes uninhabitable, obviously there’s nowhere to go, so we will need to relocate.”
Scientist Benjamin Strauss told “The Climate Crisis Podcast” that thanks to the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that humans have added to the atmosphere since the start of the Industrial Revolution, the planet is all but guaranteed to see 5 feet of sea level rise in the coming decades.
If that prediction holds true, it would be the end of Tuvalu as we know it.
“We know that even if we were to reach the 1.5 [degree Celsius of warming] target at this COP, that won’t prevent Tuvalu from land disappearing or sinking,” Paeniu says. “So our key message is for countries to help us, prevent us from being submerged. For that we would like to undertake an ambitious, raised land reclamation program.”
That idea means following the lead of the Maldives and China, which have begun pumping massive amounts of sand on top of coral reefs to reverse the assault of sea level rise on island outposts.
“It is a viable project,” Paeniu says of the expensive, and perhaps temporary, solution. “Part of our expectation at the COP is to ensure that whatever climate finance is agreed [upon], it could provide funding for such an ambitious program.”
It’s unclear whether Tuvalu will be able to convince wealthy nations to contribute to the effort to save it from the advancing ocean. But what isn’t in doubt is that there is a deep connection between its population and what remains of the atoll.
“We do not want to leave or relocate or migrate away from Tuvalu, because that is part of our culture, our identity, our heritage. We are working on amending our constitution to ensure the permanency of statehood, Tuvalu statehood, in maritime boundaries regardless of the effect of sea level rise,” Paeniu says, adding, “We hope that could be a platform for setting a new precedent under international law, so that whatever happens due to the impact of sea level rise, Tuvalu can still claim its sovereignty.”
Bidenomics sucks

Will America’s real-world economic health boost President Biden’s economic approval ratings?
SURELY IT WILL!

The Unvaccinated Are 20 Times More Likely to Die of Covid
“During the month of September, Texans not vaccinated against Covid-19 were 20 times more likely to die from Covid-19-related complications and 13 times more likely to test positive than people who were fully vaccinated, according to a new study by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Tuesday sided with the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot by refusing to block the release of scores of White House documents from the Trump administration.
The 39-page ruling from Judge Tanya S. Chutkan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia means the first batch of disputed documents is set to be turned over to the House select committee by Friday.
"The court holds that the public interest lies in permitting...the combined will of the legislative and executive branches to study the events that led to and occurred on January 6, and to consider legislation to prevent such events from ever occurring again,” Chutkan wrote, calling the events of Jan. 6 an “unprecedented attempt to prevent the lawful transfer of power from one administration to the next.”
She added, “for the first time since the election of 1860, the transfer of executive power was distinctly not peaceful.”
When the civil war era began
Lawyers for former President Donald Trump have already said they intend to ask the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia to keep the files private.
"The disagreement between an incumbent President and his predecessor from a rival political party highlights the importance of executive privilege," Trump lawyer Jesse Binnall said in a court filing on Monday.
Binnall said the case involves "the ability of presidents and their advisers to reliably make and receive full and frank advice, without concern that communications will be publicly released to meet a political objective."
Chutkan on Monday denied an emergency request by Trump to prevent the House committee from receiving the documents, calling the move "premature" because she hadn't yet issued a ruling in the case.
I suspect that one of them was plead guilty for reduced charges and testify in the DOJ case after they testified implementing that he initiated the Insurrection.
This might be the first time that an ex President is charged with crimes.
Judge Rejects Trump Effort to Block House Probe

“A federal judge rejected former President Donald Trump’s attempt to block a bipartisan House select committee from obtaining White House records as part of its investigation of the deadly Capitol invasion,” CNBC reports.
Vaccinated people spread the virus less overall because they are significantly less likely to get infected in the first place. In early September, the CDC found that six unvaccinated people were testing COVID-positive for every one vaccinated person. But there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic beyond that. Some recent research shows that even once they’ve been infected, the vaccinated are less likely to spread the coronavirus than the unvaccinated. “We’re back in this category of Yeah, it can happen, but it seems to be a very rare event,” Ross Kedl, an immunology professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
If you have been vaccinated you are less likely to spread the virus.
Scott has no empathy for anyone else than his political bias.
Protecting other people is the most important reason to support vaccine mandates.

U.S.A JUSTICE DEPARTMENT REPORT from yesterday:
Department of Justice
Office of Public Affairs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, November 8, 2021
Ukrainian Arrested and Charged with Ransomware Attack on Kaseya
Justice Department Seizes $6.1 million Related to Alleged Ransomware Extortionists
The Justice Department announced today recent actions taken against two foreign nationals charged with deploying Sodinokibi/REvil ransomware to attack businesses and government entities in the United States.
An indictment unsealed today charges Yaroslav Vasinskyi, 22, a Ukrainian national, with conducting ransomware attacks against multiple victims, including the July 2021 attack against Kaseya, a multi-national information technology software company.
The department also announced today the seizure of $6.1 million in funds traceable to alleged ransom payments received by Yevgeniy Polyanin, 28, a Russian national, who is also charged with conducting Sodinokibi/REvil ransomware attacks against multiple victims, including businesses and government entities in Texas on or about Aug. 16, 2019.
According to the indictments, Vasinskyi and Polyanin accessed the internal computer networks of several victim companies and deployed Sodinokibi/REvil ransomware to encrypt the data on the computers of victim companies.
“Cybercrime is a serious threat to our country: to our personal safety, to the health of our economy, and to our national security,” said Attorney General Garland. “Our message today is clear. The United States, together with our allies, will do everything in our power to identify the perpetrators of ransomware attacks, to bring them to justice, and to recover the funds they have stolen from their victims.”
“Our message to ransomware criminals is clear: If you target victims here, we will target you,” said Deputy Attorney General Monaco. “The Sodinokibi/REvil ransomware group attacks companies and critical infrastructures around the world, and today’s announcements showed how we will fight back. In another success for the department’s recently launched Ransomware and Digital Extortion Task Force, criminals now know we will take away your profits, your ability to travel, and – ultimately – your freedom. Together with our partners at home and abroad, the Department will continue to dismantle ransomware groups and disrupt the cybercriminal ecosystem that allows ransomware to exist and to threaten all of us.”
“The arrest of Yaroslav Vasinskyi, the charges against Yevgeniy Polyanin and seizure of $6.1 million of his assets, and the arrests of two other Sodinokibi/REvil actors in Romania are the culmination of close collaboration with our international, U.S. government and especially our private sector partners,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “The FBI has worked creatively and relentlessly to counter the criminal hackers behind Sodinokibi/REvil. Ransomware groups like them pose a serious, unacceptable threat to our safety and our economic well-being. We will continue to broadly target their actors and facilitators, their infrastructure, and their money, wherever in the world those might be.”
“Ransomware can cripple a business in a matter of minutes. These two defendants deployed some of the internet’s most virulent code, authored by REvil, to hijack victim computers,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Chad E. Meacham for the Northern District of Texas. “In a matter of months, the Justice Department identified the perpetrators, effected an arrest, and seized a significant sum of money. The Department will delve into the darkest corners of the internet and the furthest reaches of the globe to track down cyber criminals.”
According to court documents, Vasinskyi was allegedly responsible for the July 2 ransomware attack against Kaseya. In the alleged attack against Kaseya, Vasinskyi caused the deployment of malicious Sodinokibi/REvil code throughout a Kaseya product that caused the Kaseya production functionality to deploy REvil ransomware to “endpoints” on Kaseya customer networks. After the remote access to Kaseya endpoints was established, the ransomware was executed on those computers, which resulted in the encryption of data on computers of organizations around the world that used Kaseya software.
Through the deployment of Sodinokibi/REvil ransomware, the defendants allegedly left electronic notes in the form of a text file on the victims’ computers. The notes included a web address leading to an open-source privacy network known as Tor, as well as the link to a publicly accessible website address the victims could visit to recover their files. Upon visiting either website, victims were given a ransom demand and provided a virtual currency address to use to pay the ransom. If a victim paid the ransom amount, the defendants provided the decryption key, and the victims then were able to access their files. If a victim did not pay the ransom, the defendants typically posted the victims’ stolen data or claimed they sold the stolen data to third parties, and victims were unable to access their files.
Vasinskyi and Polyanin are charged in separate indictments with conspiracy to commit fraud and related activity in connection with computers, substantive counts of damage to protected computers, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. If convicted of all counts, each faces a maximum penalty of 115 and 145 years in prison, respectively.
The $6.1 million seized from Polyanin is alleged to be traceable to ransomware attacks and money laundering committed by Polyanin through his use of Sodinokibi/REvil ransomware. The seizure warrant was issued out of the Northern District of Texas. Polyanin is believed to be abroad.
On Oct. 8, Vasinskyi was taken into custody in Poland where he remains held by authorities pending proceedings in connection with his requested extradition to the United States, pursuant to the extradition treaty between the United States and the Republic of Poland. In parallel with the arrest, interviews and searches were carried out in multiple countries, and would not have been possible without the rapid response of the National Police of Ukraine and the Prosecutor Governor's Office of Ukraine.
The FBI’s Dallas and Jackson Field Offices are leading the investigation. Substantial assistance was provided by the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs and the National Security Division’s Counterintelligence and Export Control Section.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Eggers of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas and Senior Counsel Byron M. Jones from the Justice Department’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section are prosecuting the case.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, the FBI’s Dallas and Jackson Field Offices, and the Criminal Division’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section conducted the operation in close cooperation with Europol and Eurojust, who were an integral part of coordination. Investigators and prosecutors from several jurisdictions, including: Romania's National Police and the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism; Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police; France’s Court of Paris and BL2C (anti-cybercrime unit police); Dutch National Police; Poland’s National Prosecutor’s Office, Border Guard, Internal Security Agency, and Ministry of Justice; and the governments of Norway and Australia provided valuable assistance.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Germany’s Public Prosecutor’s Office Stuttgart and State Office of Criminal Investigation of Baden-Wuerttemberg; Switzerland’s Public Prosecutor’s Office II of the Canton of ZΓΌrich and Cantonal Police ZΓΌrich; United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency; U.S. Secret Service; Texas Department of Information Resources; BitDefender; McAfee; and Microsoft also provided significant assistance.
This case is part of the Department of Justice’s Ransomware and Digital Extortion Task Force, which was created to combat the growing number of ransomware and digital extortion attacks. As part of the task force, the Criminal Division, working with the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, prioritizes the disruption, investigation, and prosecution of ransomware and digital extortion activity by tracking and dismantling the development and deployment of malware, identifying the cybercriminals responsible, and holding those individuals accountable for their crimes. The department, through the task force, also strategically targets the ransomware criminal ecosystem as a whole and collaborates with domestic and foreign government agencies as well as private sector partners to combat this significant criminal threat.

Life Without the Vaccine
It’s lucky they made me watch all those films about peer pressure in high school. Because I have never in my adult life—or even in high school—experienced peer pressure like this.
By Dan Gelernter
November 9, 2021
When the vaccine first came out, I wasn’t too eager to get it. I’m young and healthy. Statistics indicated that I was unlikely to get COVID and extremely unlikely to get a serious case of it. I wasn’t “opposed” to the vaccine—as though it were some political candidate with ideas I disliked—I just didn’t see a personal need for it. But I was willing to be convinced. And what happened next surprised me.
I’d expected the “pro-vaxxers” would try to show me that getting the vaccine was the best thing for my health. Instead, what I heard was: “It’s probably safe, but get it anyway! Society’s health is more important than your health! If you don’t get this shot, you want everyone to die!”
I’ve heard logical arguments before, and this isn’t one. I’ve also heard Marxist arguments before: Subordinate your will to the good of society, as directed by “the experts.” "experts "
The experts, in this case, are doctors, who recently have been promoted to godlike status. It is unfortunate then, that I couldn’t find a single pro-vax doctor willing to admit that we can not know what the long-term effects of a new drug will be until we’ve had a chance to observe the effects over a long term. This concept is so simple it’s tautological: We need a long time before we know what will happen over a long time.

A federal judge's decision Tuesday to reject former president Donald Trump's executive privilege claims should pave the way for Attorney General Merrick Garland to prosecute Steve Bannon for contempt, according to constitutional law scholar Laurence Tribe.
Tribe told MSNBC that he believes Garland should already have initiated a prosecution of Bannon, after the House referred to the Department of Justice a contempt citation against him for defying a subpoena from the committee investigating the Capitol insurrection.
However, Tribe added that it's possible Garland, out of an abundance of caution, was waiting for a judge to signal that Trump and his allies are not protected by executive privilege in the Capitol riot probe.
"If that's what he (Garland) was waiting for, he got it tonight, and if he does not move immediately, it will be inexcusable," Tribe said. "He will, in all effects and purposes, he will be obstructing Congress. He will be preventing the effectuation of a legitimate and crucial congressional investigation, because all of these guys who are getting subpoenaed have no particular incentive to comply if Steve Bannon can get away with stonewalling."
Tribe added that he expects the judge's ruling to be upheld on appeal — even if Trump tries to take it to the Supreme Court.
"The fat lady has sung, the music is over, and he's got to turn over the documents, and I think Bannon has got to be prosecuted," Tribe said. 'I think we're about to watch a very rapid show."
Nicholas Luna was “reportedly in the Oval Office the morning of January 6, 2021, when former President Trump was on a phone call to Vice President Pence pressuring him not to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election,” according to the committee.
There are many stories about him saying that he was basically the acting President. If he actually has to testify, it would get very interesting.

BUTLER, Pa. — The fate of Republican Sean Parnell’s U.S. Senate campaign rested in the hands of a family court judge Tuesday, as arguments wrapped up in a custody battle with his estranged wife that broadcast damaging accusations of domestic violence.
Senior Judge James Arner declined to deliver a ruling on Tuesday and said he will issue a written decision.
The case, which has upended the Republican primary for an open Senate seat, has raised questions about whether former president Donald Trump’s pick to win a seat that will be vacated by Sen. Patrick J. Toomey (R-Pa.) can survive a general election in the purple state.
Parnell’s estranged wife, Laurie Snell, with whom he shares three children, has accused him of multiple forms of abuse, including strangling her and hitting one of their children so hard he left a fingerprint-shaped welt on the child’s back. She said Parnell has called her a “piece of s---” and said he once told her to get an abortion.
Shocking that the likes of Lil Schitty, cramps, rat and the goat fucker all seem to get confused by the same lies that the right wing media circulates and they believe.....sad indeed!!!!

New poll shows Americans who trust conservative media outlets more likely to believe COVID-19 misinformation

A new poll has found that Americans who consume more right-wing media are far more likely to believe misinformation about COVID-19 and the vaccine against it.
In a survey released Monday by the Kaiser Family Foundation, respondents were asked about eight different misconceptions about the pandemic, ranging from “The government is exaggerating the number of COVID-19 deaths” to “The COVID-19 vaccines can change your DNA.” The survey found that 78 percent of Americans either believe or aren’t sure about at least one of the statements. However, the numbers varied greatly depending on party affiliation, vaccination status and source of news.

Some 64 percent of unvaccinated respondents believed or were unsure about four or more of the false statements, compared with 19 percent of the vaccinated. Only 6 percent of Republicans surveyed believed or were unsure of none of the statements, versus 22 percent of independents and 38 percent of Democrats.
Some of the largest discrepancies came from where Americans got their news. Those who received their information from the right-wing outlets Newsmax, One America News Network and Fox News were far more likely to believe or be unsure about the false statements than those who received their news from local TV news, NPR, MSNBC, network news or CNN. Only 12 percent of those who considered Fox News a trusted news source believed none of the false

A star Republican congressional candidate in Texas was accused last month by her estranged husband in court documents of “cruel and aggressive conduct” toward his 14-year-old daughter, including verbal abuse and pinching the child to stop her from crying.
Monica De La Cruz, a candidate for the 15th Congressional District in Texas, was picked this week by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as a “young gun,” a designation given by the party to candidates who “have met a series of rigorous goals and surpassed program benchmarks to establish a clear path to victory.”
She announced last week on Twitter that she was going through a divorce from her husband, Johnny Hernandez.
“This is not what anyone wants or expects when getting married but we believe this is the best decision. We are dealing with some mental health issues in our family & would appreciate your prayers and support,” De La Cruz wrote. “I remain committed to being a devoted, loving mother to my children and humbly ask for privacy for our family during this difficult time.”

Denny, Tell us with the Coal Plants gone what in the real world replaces them to produce Electricity?
Because the percentage of the deaths are among older and overweight adults, not because the vaccine is not worth the risk.
The whole point of older adults to take the vaccine was to prevent COVID-19 infection and not be hospitalized or die from it.
We were told the vaccines were 95% effective. We were told the once we got the vaccine we can go out in public with no fear of contracting it.
We were lied to by Biden's CDC and Biden himself.
SCOTT JOHNSON IN BARACK OBAMA, CLIMATE
CLIMATE OF DYSTOPIA
I worry about Iran’s mullahs pursuing their murderous exploits with an arsenal of nuclear weapons, a venture that Barack Obama did everything in his power to facilitate. Obama himself purports to worry about “climate change,” f/k/a “global warming.” Obama traveled to the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow to give one of his seemingly endless speeches yesterday.
Obama called out the villains of the “climate change” story including China, Russia, the Trump administration, and the Republican Party. “One of our two major parties has decided not only to sit on the sidelines, but express active hostility toward climate science and make climate change a partisan issue.”
Politics no longer stops at the water’s edge. His motto might be Speak loudly and carry a big shtick.
Of course, Obama was talking about “saving the planet.” It “isn’t a partisan issue,” he said, adding that politics doesn’t matter “if your Florida house is flooded by rising seas, or your crops fail in the Dakotas or your California house is burning down. Nature, science do not care about party affiliation.”
“Climate change” — what can’t it do? It won’t be easy to stamp it out. The will to power manifested in the movement against it represents the true danger to the future of humanity.
Harking back to the glory days of his years lecturing the American people from the White House, Obama adopted the overenunciated style of speech that might be appropriate to an adult struggling to make himself understood by a slow child. I can assure you he doesn’t talk to Michelle like that.
Obama unburdened himself with this characteristically personal reflection: “There are times where I feel discouraged, there are times when the future seems somewhat bleak, there are times when I am doubtful that humanity can get its act together before it’s too late. Images of dystopia creep into my dreams.”
As he spoke, I wanted him to strike “Images of dystopia creep into my mind” and insert “That’s when I fly up to my multimillion dollar Martha’s Vineyard waterfront mansion. It’s a great pick-me-up.”
Hoping to have skipped most of Sheila Babauta’s introduction, I have posted the video of Obama’s COP26 speech below (transcript here). Long live Big COP.
Anyone notice that as gas prices go up, and gas cars are now suddenly very hard to find and buy, we're now seeing articles about electric cars selling excess charge to electrical grids. One might conclude that it's all part of the liberal plan to get us driving shitty electric cars.
As Obama swoop in in a private jet.
This is a tell that they don't take climate change seriously.
There real goal is to segregate the world into an elite ruling class who live in luxury and everybody else who is relegated to feudal status.
It's the Hunger Games writ large.

Until this happens the leftists here are just jerking off.

JUST IN - U.S. consumer price inflation jumps 6.2% year over year in October, the largest increase since 1990.

It's far more worse than I hoped for.
Inflation across a broad swath of products that consumers buy every day was even worse than expected in October, hitting its highest point in more than 30 years,” CNBC reports.

“Afghanistan’s ex-finance minister has blamed the government’s fall on corrupt officials who invented ‘ghost soldiers’ and took payments from the Taliban.
Khalid Payenda said that “most of the 300,000 troops and police on the government’s books did not exist. He said phantom personnel were added to official lists so that generals could pocket their wages.”
The difference between today and 30 years ago is when we had "stagflation".
This economy has been creating jobs by the hundreds of thousands a month, and again the wage increases are helping people to afford higher gasoline prices and goods and services. Not quite enough but!
So it's not as bad as it was when Bill Clinton was elected President and during his presidency, inflation rates dropped to almost zero percent and again and again they created 21 million jobs reduced the deficit to almost zero.
The Democratic candidates have to keep reminding them that a record economic recovery in history has taken place under Sleepy Joe Biden and the Democrats controlled legislatures.
And remind them that when George W Bush took office, when he left office the economy was in the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and again that President Obama lead the longest economic recovery in history.
A positive message is the best way to counter the Republican's message of hatred and divisiveness.
I hope they follow that path forward.
Enjoy my word salad.

thanks
General Trump is trying to lead a Republican civil war, and responsible GOP leaders don't know WHAT to do about him.
I was not aware Obama invaded Afghanistan.
This economy has been creating jobs by the hundreds of thousands a month,
FACT CHECK: FALSE.
The economy has been restoring jobs destroyed under the pretext of covid, but was actually done to destroy the bad orange man.
The unemployment rate has fallen specifically because a record number of adults have permanently left the workforce.
A positive message is the best way to counter the Republican's message of hatred and divisiveness.
The Republican message of hate and divisiveness?
LOL. I marvel at your perpetual state of psychological projection.
The GOP, for all their faults which are fucking LEGION, are not the ones telling every white person in American that they're a fucking RACIST.
YOU guys are.
The latest?
Roads and bridges and under/overpasses are RACIST. Seriously. That's where you guys are now with your idiotic rhetoric.
Go fuck yourself.

Biden Unveils Plan to Ease Supply Chain Crunch
Cancel Christmas ?
lower expectations ?
Resign ?
Biden's plan is to tell mayor Pete to get back to work
Such ominous data, combined with last Tuesday’s rebuke by the voters, signal that the Democrats are in real trouble and members of the party are sounding the alarm. The New York Times quotes Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) thus: “We were so willing to take seriously a global pandemic, but we’re not willing to say, ‘Yeah, inflation is a problem, and supply chain is a problem, and we don’t have enough workers in our work force.’” Yet party leaders like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) aren’t listening. She still intends to push passage of the Build Back Better (BBB) social spending and climate bill that only 34 percent of the voters favor, according to the latest Emerson poll.
Pelosi, President Biden and other prominent Democrats have made it clear since last Tuesday’s debacle that they believe it was caused by their failure to pass this fiscally irresponsible legislation. As the editors of the New Hampshire Union Leader put it, “Biden, Nancy Pelosi and company were convinced that gifting the people with billions and billions of dollars of their own money and massive debt would have bought enough votes to push their gubernatorial candidate to victory.” But the Emerson poll is by no means the only poll that says precisely the opposite. An ABC News-Ipsos poll released two days before Election Day found that the majority of voters were not sold on BBB.

Bribing people with their own money only works with the chronically stupid (as found here on this blog), or those who pay little to no taxes at all to begin with(as also found on this blog).
Those of us who are providing the tax revenue the left gifts to the parasite class think this is profoundly fucking stupid.
Supplies of food and household items are 4% to 11% lower than normal as of Oct. 31, according to data from market-research firm IRI. That figure isn’t far from the bare shelves of March 2020, when supplies were down 13%.
For grocery shoppers this holiday season, it means that someone with 20 items on their list would be out of luck on two of them.
Although U.S. supermarket operators started purchasing holiday items early, aiming to avoid shortages, many holiday essentials are already in short supply.

Rittenhouse is testifying now
Gee rat, looks like you hit on a main reason for the current rise of inflation......demand is up because people have money.....supply is down because people are buying......usually that is a good sign of a growing economy ....very sad you use inflation as a cudgel rather than a sign of good things to come!!!!
The overwhelmingly noticeable symptom of the collective mental disease that is 21st-century American leftism is the habit of calling everyone on the other side of the political aisle a racist. These poor, addled beings actually believe it, largely because they themselves are too bigoted to ever meet anyone who thinks differently. They operate on assumptions made based on fictional accounts of conservatives that they’ve written.
It’s wearisome, it’s small-minded, and it’s obviously what they think is a winning political strategy.
Rather than engaging in any introspection that might tell them why they got their you-know-whats handed to them in Virginia last week, Democrats and their flying monkeys in the media decided to go with the “It’s because Republicans are racists!” route, and they’re sticking to it.
Since a lot of what really happened in that election involved a righteous backlash against the woke cancer that’s eating away at this great country, they’ve decided that we’re racist for even saying “woke” now.
Rather than opt for a road map to sanity, we now have our alleged VEEP flapping her idiot gums about racist tree patterns or something, while Mayor Pete Supply-Chain-FAIL has been going on about infrastructure racism and bridges.
I, for one, would like to encourage the Democrats to keep this up. It’s a message that isn’t accomplishing what they think it is. The only people who buy it made their purchases a long time ago. They’re not winning over any new hearts and minds with this tired, pathetic line of attack. Last Tuesday was ugly for them, and anyone with eyes to see knows that it was probably a precursor to what will be an absolute slaughtering at the polls next November.
If they keep blaming a racist Republican bogeyman that doesn’t exist rather than formulate a sane political strategy, Republicans might not even have to work very hard during the 2024 cycle.
Keep barking “RACISM!” like a bunch of trained seals, Democrats. Let your bigotry and hatred back you into a corner of political irrelevance.
The rest of us will be over here enjoying reality.

Biden’s Agenda Is Popular Even If He Is Not
11:07 am EST
A new Monmouth poll finds 65% of Americans support the bipartisan infrastructure plan which just passed Congress and 62% support the social spending legislation currently being considered.
However, Biden currently holds a job performance rating of 42% approve and 50% disapprove. This marks another decline in his approval number since he hit 54% in April.
THIS WILL CHANGE AND GET BETTER.
NBC NEWS REPORTS:
GOP Recruitment Troubles Give Senate Democrats Hope
11:00 am ESTs
“With one-third of the Senate up for grabs next year and a handful of competitive states likely to decide control, Democrats are looking for any advantage as they try to defend their majority. They’ve been getting some help recently from Republicans.
“From New England to Arizona, Republicans are struggling to land top-tier recruits even as the deteriorating political climate for Democrats puts them in a strong position to win back the chamber. Republican Party operatives find themselves having to keep a close eye on several Senate hopefuls they see as unelectable, a familiar problem for the GOP.”
THIS MAY GET EVEN BETTER FOR DEMS AS TIME GOES ON AND TRUMP CONTINUES TO HOLD SWAY.
If they keep blaming a racist Republican bogeyman that doesn’t exist
Trump and his tiny hands have manifested itself through the GOP with the vengeance of covid......cannot cure it but it certainly can kill the hopes and future of this great country......Time will be the discriminator of the GOP as more and more nut jobs try exercise their white power to the detriment of all!!!!!! Gosar and Green are whacko's which you all think are doing a great job killing democracy!!!!!!!!
It looks great for him.

New weekly jobless claims touched a fresh pandemic-era low yet again this week, as labor shortages and companies' efforts to bring on and retain workers, helping to put a cap on the pace of firings and other separations.
The Labor Department released its jobless claims report Wednesday morning, or a day earlier than usual due to the Veterans Day holiday on Thursday. Here were the main metrics from the print, compared to consensus estimates compiled by Bloomberg:

Ot out of unemployment benefits and are part of the real unemployment number.
The Age of Trump has empowered human monsters. As much as many people wish these were phantasmagoric bogeymen, they are real monsters, with a plan to remake America in their own evil vision.
Their goal is to reclaim uncontested white power and white privilege over every significant aspect of American society. Their evil fairytales about "critical race theory" or "parental control" are but a means to that end. The real meaning of those words does not matter; the emotions and the behavior they encourage is what is important. Indeed, for fascists and other authoritarians, reality and truth are mere functions of power, arbitrary constructs that can be changed to meet the needs of the leader and the movement.
The right-wing propaganda machine's version of "critical race theory" is a lie, an empty floating signifier that can be made to mean almost anything the propagandists and their audience want it to. Once objective truth and reality are destroyed or abandoned, democracy and human freedom become impossible.
What about the everyday white folks, regular people who are not of the political class and not deeply knowledgeable about public policy — for example those who voted for Republican Glenn Youngkin in Virginia last week because of claims about "critical race theory" or "the woke socialist Democrats" or whatever else?
Those people are doing the work of racism and white supremacy. Of course, a great many of them, perhaps most, would take great umbrage at such a description. But on these matters, intention is irrelevant.
Supporting Republican fascists who tell evil fairytales about "critical race theory" — or, more directly, about the teaching of America's real history — is by definition an act of white supremacy and racism.
Every candidate that Trump publicly endorsed WON.
Not quite shit for breath......Texas special election Susan Wright lost........BWAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
I have no doubt that many white people alarmed about "critical race theory" have their own intergenerational family stories about some version of the Goat Man — memories of terror and resistance and being abused by the powerful and privileged. Those stories may stem from histories of poverty or perhaps being sharecroppers or small farmers who lost their land or their homes to crooked banks. Everyday white folks in the Rust Belt and other parts of post-industrial America definitely have stories of how big corporations and gangster capitalists reduced them to misery and destroyed their communities.
Many everyday white folks also have stories about how their ancestors lived in mining towns and were paid in script and abused by the Pinkertons or company goons. And of course, there is the white ethnic fable — partly true and partly fantasy — about how their ancestors survived hardship in Europe and came to America with "nothing," and then rose by "working hard," making it to middle-class affluence with "no help" — unlike certain "lazy" or "undeserving" others, who for the most part already lived here.
Somewhere along the way too many everyday white folks in America lost or forgot what the real lessons from their personal and family stories about disempowerment and hardship. They learned or decided that it was preferable to side with the powerful — and in time, perhaps, even join their ranks — than to ally with those who are oppressed and marginalized and work together to make society better for everyone.
Many historians and others who study the history of white folks and the color line have described this as "the price of entry" into the collective notion of whiteness (a relatively recent invention) and all the material and psychological privileges that come with it.
Those bargains of whiteness — and the type of anxious and paranoid white identity politics and white rage that all too often follow them — have helped to create America's current condition of existential peril. In effect, and in many cases in reality, they have created monsters.
Decent Americans — and especially sheltered and privileged white liberals — still need to prepare themselves for what is likely next in our country's downward and spiral into neofascism. Too many Americans are still fueled by antiquated fairytales about American exceptionalism, and the naive notion "it can't happen here," in the indispensable nation, supposedly the greatest on Earth.
Understand this: America's fascist monsters are real. Unlike the Goat Man, they are not metaphorical. They are coming to get you and destroy democracy. They will not stop until they devour all that is good in America or are completely vanquished. Get ready.
Ot out of unemployment benefits and are part of the real unemployment number.
