Is it a blue state issue or will liberals finally admit it is regional?

Michigan leads the nation in new COVID cases, according to CDC data
Michigan again leads the country in new COVID-19 cases per population over the last seven days, according to tracking data Tuesday from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The state has reported a seven-day new case rate of 504 per 100,000 residents, the highest number nationally, the CDC found. Minnesota followed in second at 490. The figures are another setback in the state's 20-month fight against the virus and came amid spikes in new infections that are testing the capacity of Michigan's hospitals.
The individuals who have been vaccinated and are hospitalized with the virus tend to be older and have more underlying conditions than those who are unvaccinated, Munkarah said. Statewide, COVID-19 hospitalizations and the percentage of tests bringing positive results have been slowly trending upward for months. But over the last two weeks, they've jumped more quickly.

According to the CDC as of this morning, Minnesota and Democratic Governor Walz are now leading the nation, passing over Governor "Shutdown" Whitmer  and Michigan. Wisconsin (another blue state) is close behind. Democratic New Hampshire, Arizona, New York, Pennsylvania and Colorado are also all in the top ten.

Meanwhile, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, and Alabama are four of the bottom five states in terms of cases per population.  All strangely enough, red states. This, of course, runs counter to everything everyone everywhere on the left is telling us. They continue to blame Republican Governors and even Republicans in general. But... that doesn't seem to be the case right now, does it?

Here’s a bit of evidence that we live in a simulation controlled by someone with a perverse sense of humor: At the very moment that Roe v. Wade could be overturned, the American right has become obsessed with bodily autonomy and has adopted the slogan “My body, my choice” about Covid vaccines and mask mandates.

Feminists have always known that if men — or at any rate cis men — could get pregnant, abortion would be a nonissue. The furious conservative reaction to Covid mitigation measures demonstrates this more than any hypothetical ever could. Many on the right, we can now see, believe it’s tyranny to be told to put something they don’t want on or in their bodies in order to save lives.

There is, to be fair, at least one prominent illiberal conservative, Harvard’s Adrian Vermeule, who has defended vaccine mandates, writing, “Even our physical liberties are rightly ordered to the common good of the community when necessary.” More typical on the right, however, is a paranoid sense that the vaccines are tied up with occult forces of social control.

In “Why I Didn’t Get the Covid Vaccine,” an essay in the Catholic anti-abortion journal First Things, the theologian Peter Leithart quotes a book called “The Great Covid Panic”: “A very effective way to dominate people is to convince them they are sinful unless they obey.” He invokes totalitarian “biopolitical regimes” that seek to exercise power over the body: “Once upon a time, the ruler bore a sword; now, a syringe,” he writes

Of course, many American women will soon be faced with an infinitely more invasive form of biopolitical control, courtesy of First Things’ allies. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case dealing with Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks. It’s possible that the justices could gut Roe without overturning it outright, but after they let Texas’ abortion bounty law stand, at least for the time being, I’m expecting the worst. If Roe is tossed out, most abortions will instantly become illegal in at least 12 states, and they will be severely restricted in others.

Apparently it escapes Michelle Goldberg's attention that "my body my choice" arguments are just as hypocritical if you demand it true in abortion but not vaccines... as it is if you demand it for vaccines but not abortions.

In order not to be a hypocrite every pro-choice advocate should be pro-choice on both abortion and vaccines, while everyone who advocates Government control should do so in both situations.

Only difference is that according to science/biology is that an abortion actually terminates a human life in its infancy while a vaccine is just killing a virus. There may actually be an underlying moral difference.

Terrible news

Three people were killed and six others were injured Tuesday in a shooting at a Michigan high school, authorities said. The lone suspect, a 15-year-old sophomore at the school, was taken into custody without incident, they said.

Police responded to an active shooter at Oxford High School at 12:51 p.m. local time, Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said in a news conference. Multiple police and emergency medical service units are now on the scene.

The suspect was taken into custody within five minutes of the initial 911 call, McCabe said. Police recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the scene.

Police did not identify the deceased victims but said one of the six injured people was a teacher at the high school, which is located about 45 miles north of Detroit. Authorities are conducting a secondary search of the school to locate any additional victims.

Well Reverend... you made it clear that it's okay to simply imply something bad about someone and that you should not be held responsible for said implications.

You know, like how you implied things about me... and then defended it by saying it was just an "apparent" viewpoint based on actually no evidence of your opinion.

Besides, I didn't say I read it... just that I "heard it" which is just an indistinguishable nonspecific sort of thing. Plus you left out the part about how all of this person's fans are actually also child molesters. That can also be implied in a indistinguishable nonspecific sort of way.

So I am not required to have any actual evidence that this person is child molesters r that those who follow are also child molesters. I can just imply it and that is okay. Which is what I did.

You set that bar, Reverend.

Besides, I am not interested enough in what this person has to say to research this person or any opinions this person has. I have all the data I need to draw my own conclusions.

Well then why is he writing about medical stuff? Seems way out of his element if you ask me.

At least I can view numbers and compare them from a statistical concept as I have a degree and lots of real world experience with that. He doesn't even have those qualifications... so I would guess is using the wrong numbers and misinterpreting them to make a "political" point... which of course is what he does as a political writer.

But hey... I just read some statistics from someone who is qualified that provided data on how we have now passed up countries like Italy, Sweden, and other European countries in deaths per million. Apparently many other first world countries have done much better over the past few months, whereas we did better in the first few months of the pandemic.

The implication (made by others) is that things have gone south for us since Biden has become President in comparison to other first world countries.

But hey... that was just a person with an advanced statistics degree who specialized in the study of data. Not someone who has a political ax to grind.

I'd say telling Americans that you have a "foolproof plan to stop Covid in its tracks" when all you had was the "fool" part down... is a pretty big lie!

Especially since for the lionshare of people who catch covid, the effects are quite a bit less than the flu, not to mention that everyone at the time believed that Covid would likely go away once summer hit. Our original CDC and other official projections had Covid taking about 60,000 lives and ending by July or August.

So it wouldn't be a lie to say something that our science at the time believed to be the case. Ultimately citing wrong science as hopeful rhetoric is different than making a false promise to get elected.

Former President Donald Trump says he would not mandate COVID-19 vaccines if he were still in office because he’d “sell it” to people to take voluntarily.

President Biden last month announced that most federal workers must get vaccinated or face losing their jobs and that companies with 100 or more employees must require shots or regular testing — drawing pushback from critics who accused him of overreach.

“I wouldn’t say to anybody, ‘You have to.’ But I would sell it. Look, I’m very proud of what we did with the vaccines,” Trump told political news host Bill O’Reilly in an interview that will air at 8 p.m. Monday on The First TV.

“It was supposed to take five years and they said it wasn’t going to work. I did three vaccines in less than nine months and they do work, they work really well.”

Trump added: “I would convince people, take it. I don’t want to push it … When I was president, there was no talk about mandates or anything. Everybody wanted the vaccine. Now a lot of people don’t want it.”

Schumer Eyes Spending Bill Vote In Two Weeks

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) is planning to bring President Biden’s social and climate spending bill to the floor as soon as the week of Dec. 13,
The Hill reports.

“Schumer’s plan is to bring the bill, known as Build Back Better, to the Senate floor once Democrats finish their conversations with the parliamentarian, who provides guidance on what can be included in a bill passed through budget reconciliation.”

Politico:
“Schumer has also noted that schedule is contingent upon completing work with the parliamentarian, who will determine whether the bill runs afoul of the budget reconciliation’s protections from a filibuster. Some provisions, most notably immigration, could get stripped out of the House-passed bill before it comes to the Senate floor if they don’t pass muster with reconciliation rules."

This isn't rocket science. Trump understands the most basic human nature. Tell someone they must do something and they have no choice in the matter and they reply -

"Go fuck yourself."

And rightly so.

The left does not know and has never known how to govern. All they know is how to rule. How to demand. How to mandate. And they've fucked up everything from toilets to gas cans to light bulbs. Their ideas are so awesome they must be made mandatory.

And so, in the case of Covid, plenty of Americans are saying -

"Go fuck yourself."

And rightly so.

A Food and Drug Administration advisory panel voted Tuesday to recommend Merck’s experimental antiviral pill to treat Covid-19 for emergency use authorization, paving the way for the agency to clear the first oral drug for the disease.

Members of the agency’s Antimicrobial Drugs Advisory Committee voted 13-10 in favor of the treatment, called molnupiravir, for use in adults with mild to moderate Covid-19 who are at risk for severe disease or hospitalization.

During the daylong public meeting, committee members raised numerous questions and expressed concerns about the drug, which is made by Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, before narrowly voting in favor.

Committee member Sankar Swaminathan, an infectious disease expert at the University of Utah School of Medicine, voted against endorsing the drug, saying the benefits did not outweigh the risks.

He said the overall benefit of the drug was “modest,” while the risks, such as potentially causing damage to DNA, are not firmly understood.

Committee member Dr. Uma Reddy, an obstetrician at the Yale School of Medicine, voted in favor of the drug, though she asked that the agency only authorize the drug for people who were in the clinical trial, like unvaccinated adults at risk for severe outcomes.

“For pregnancy, I think the risks outweigh any potential benefits,” she said.

The FDA is not required to follow the advisory committee’s guidance, but it usually does. A final ruling by the agency could come in a matter of days.

While vaccination remains the best form of protection against the virus, experts say pills like Merck’s could help stop the disease from progressing in those who do get infected and prevent hospitalization. The nation is currently averaging 5,456 Covid hospitalizations and 1,032 deaths per day, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Deep state conspiracy on steroids.

Rigged and Our Broken Elections both devote considerable space to two topics crucial for understanding the 2020 election: the Left’s use of lawfare to force “emergency” changes in election law and their use of private funds to control and direct election administration. Some of the legal gambits were turned aside by state or federal courts, but many were not. Insidiously, Democrats accomplished much of what they wanted through so-called “collusive lawsuits” or “sue-and-settle” tactics. They would sue a state or local election office and the Democratic secretary of state or county clerk would obligingly reach a settlement, giving the plaintiffs almost anything they wanted rather than defending the existing law in court. This collusive wave of sue-and-settle was Democrats’ payoff for working to elect their preferred secretaries of state over the past decade. In some cases (including Georgia), Republican election officials also settled, perhaps not fully realizing the implications. And President Trump’s own legal strategy was chaotic and ineffective from beginning to end: as Hemingway notes, insiders now recognize that the campaign “should have been heavily involved in the legal effort long before March [2020].” Instead they mostly stood by as a rash of states, including some of the most crucial ones, massively expanded mail-in voting, reduced or eliminated signature verification or witness requirements, required or allowed use of insecure ballot return methods such as unsupervised drop-boxes and ballot harvesting, and expanded the window of time following the election that mail-in ballots had to be accepted. The number of voters who utilized mail-in ballots surged in 2020, and they were disproportionately Democrats.

Also boosting turnout, especially among Democrats, was the $400 million in grants given through Mark Zuckerberg’s Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), ostensibly for the purpose of facilitating neutral election administration. There was little fanfare about the “Zuck Buck” grants at the time, and important facts have dribbled out only gradually. To assuage concerns about this privatization of elections, Americans were initially told that Democratic- and Republican-leaning jurisdictions were equally likely to receive a CTCL grant. This left out two central features of the program. First, as Hemingway notes, “Democratic areas regularly received massively more funding than Republican counties, whether in terms of total dollar amounts or per capita”—Biden states received 88.4% of the funding. Second, the grants typically came with strings attached, such as requiring the election office to partner with particular “approved” organizations, invariably left-wing activist groups. In some cases, representatives of these organizations actually became the de facto heads of the election office, illegally taking over responsibilities and decision-making authority. Fund and von Spakovsky conclude that “[i]n essence, Democrats were using local government as their get-out-the-vote program for the presidential election.” The outcome?

For the Republicans, the funded counties’ votes increased by 46 percent more than the rate at which votes in the unfunded counties increased. For the Democrats, the funded counties’ votes skyrocketed upward 81 percent more than they rose in the unfunded counties.

At the end of the day, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania—four key states that flipped from Trump to Biden—received more than half of all the funds. “This privatization of election administration,” writes Hemingway, “tainted the entire election.”

Trump Allies Launch Publishing House
November 30, 2021 at 5:35 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 28 Comments

“Allies of former President Donald Trump are trying to rip up the traditional book publishing paradigm in politics by setting up a publishing house of their own. And they have the ex-president helping them do it,” Politico reports.

“Trump announced last week that he was publishing a coffee table book of photographs from his time in the White House — just ahead of the holiday gift rush — with Winning Team Publishing. The outfit is a new imprint with a decidedly MAGA flavor, run by former Trump campaign aide Sergio Gor and Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr.

“Trump has not yet written a post-presidential memoir. And part of the reason, sources in the industry say, is that some of the major publishing houses have recoiled at the prospect of having to fact-check his work or the social backlash that would ensue. With allies setting up their own publishing house, the president could potentially circumvent those hurdles.”

CNN is doing the right thing and Fox news should do the same thing to Tucker Carlson.

CNN announced on Tuesday that it is suspending primetime anchor Chris Cuomo indefinitely pending an investigation into his conduct.

Via reporter Dylan Byers, CNN cited newly released transcripts from the New York Attorney General's office as justification for its decision to suspend Cuomo.

"The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions," CNN said. "These documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother's efforts than we previously knew."

The documents show that Cuomo tried to use his position at CNN to dig up information on women who accused his brother, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, of sexual misconduct.

As President Joe Biden’s administration resumes nuclear talks with Iran, the Iranian military has threatened Israel with total ‘annihilation.’

“We will not back off from the annihilation of Israel, even one millimeter. We want to destroy Zionism in the world,” the senior Iranian military spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi told the country’s state-run media.

On Monday, the Biden administration restarted formal negotiations with Iran at a European Union-sponsored summit in Vienna, Austria. China and Russia, both key allies of the Iranian regime, are also participating in the talks.

By Jane C. Timm

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol interviewed Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for several hours Tuesday in a meeting that included discussion of former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

“I spoke to the January 6th committee to ensure they included the full record of how stolen election claims damage our democracy — whether in 2016, 2018, or 2020. While liberals in Washington, D.C. remain focused on Trump, conservatives should focus on the kitchen table issues that really matter to the American people,” the Republican elections official said in a statement shared with NBC News.

The meeting with the bipartisan committee was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The interview lasted for four hours, Raffensperger's office said, and they discussed Trump’s call earlier this year in which he pressured Raffensperger to overturn President Joe Biden's win in Georgia while repeatedly berating state officials.

In a recent book, Raffensperger wrote that he felt Trump was threatening him in the call.

Raffensperger now faces a Trump-endorsed primary challenger in his re-election bid for 2022. Seig Heil Mr Trump...

The House committee has interviewed or deposed numerous individuals regarding the events leading up to the Jan. 6 riot and the attack itself.

Earlier on Tuesday, the chair of the House committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has begun cooperating with their probe. His cooperation comes not long after former Trump adviser Steve Bannon was indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to answer the committee's questions.

If convicted, Bannon could face as much as a year in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.

TOPLINE A Guardian report claims former President Donald Trump repeatedly placed calls to the Willard Hotel in Washington to strategize with a group of trusted advisors about how to overturn the results of the presidential election just hours before his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, though a Trump spokesperson called the report “totally false.”

KEY FACTS
Advisors at the Willard, which has been described as a “command center” for efforts to overturn the election, took calls either very late in the evening on January 5 or very early in the morning hours of January 6, according to the Guardian, citing sources with knowledge of the communication.

Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, along with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and right-wing legal scholar John Eastman, were among those taking the calls and reportedly holding discussions with the president.

The calls centered around Trump’s concern that Vice President Mike Pence did not plan to join in efforts to overturn the election, according to the Guardian, so the group came up with an ultimately unsuccessful plan to lobby Republican lawmakers to delay the election certification process.

Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington vehemently denied the report, saying in a statement to Forbes: “This is totally false.”

WHAT WE DON’T KNOW It’s unclear where in the White House Trump made the calls or whether the communications might have been recorded.

The investigation into the January 6th attacks may provide reasonable allegations against Trump..

MAGA Republicans Would Have Tried to Cancel Jesus
by John Pavlovitz

MAGAs like to tell us there is a “War on Christmas.”

They’re right.

The truth is, Jesus wouldn’t have stood a chance in MAGA America.

They would have cancelled him immediately.

When he told them to love their neighbor as themselves, they would have screamed at him to go back where he came from and spit anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic epithets from behind anonymous message board Nazi avatars, raising defiant middle fingers in his face.

When Jesus pleaded with them to welcome the stranger and embrace the outcast and receive the refugee, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, and Sean Hannity would have devoted their programming to declaring him a subversive, radical Leftist national threat and frightening their viewers into a anti-Jesus frenzy.

When he said that people of faith were to show compassion to the least among us, as a tangible measure of their love for God—Ted Cruz would scurry to Fox News to lament his subversive and dangerous plot against American family values and urge his base to shut him down and cut all ties of support with him.

When Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry, cared for the suffering and implored us to do the same, our former president would have issued a rambling, vile press release assassinating his character, questioning his patriotism, and inciting violence against him.

When he spoke of the last being first, of the sacredness of humility, of the virtues of generosity; when he shunned violence, denounced power, and cautioned against wealth—they’d have proudly worn their #LetsGoBrandon shirts while chanting “F*ck You, Jesus!”

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

If Jesus were here speaking the words attributed to him in the Gospels, performing the acts of kindness described there, and preaching the same religion of good news for the poor and the marginalized——MAGA Christians would never give him a moment’s peace.

And when all else failed to silence him, some of the most damaged and unstable among them would take to the streets with AR-15s, and in crocodile tear—claims of self-defense, would do what their laws and talk shows and press conferences and ad campaigns could not do: they would permanently cancel Jesus because his empathy and love and generosity simply would not be tolerated in the “great nation” they are building. And no Republican politician would utter a word about it.

That is the sickening truth we need to reckon with as we head toward a holiday devoted to the birth of the healing, helping, caregiving, loving Jesus: those who will most loudly declare their affinity for him and most openly wield their religion and engage in the most performative piety, would be the greatest threat to him.

So, they can talk about a “War on Christmas” all they want, but their actions and words and their relentless rejection of his teachings and of the kind of people he spent his life embracing, remind us that they are Jesus’ fiercest adversaries.

MAGAs reject love.
They ridicule empathy.
They despise diversity.
They’d have cancelled Jesus.

American Greatness aka the New Confederates of America

Disunion

If nullification and judicial supremacy have been treated dishonestly by the Left, then the concept of disunion has been even more abused. While clearly a policy of last resort and not one endorsed by this author in our current situation, much of the refusal of some on the Right to even consider disunion is not the result of a serious and sober study of our current political situation, but instead a sort of political wishcasting.

As leading disunion advocate Dave Reaboi wrote, responding to National Review’s Rich Lowry’s harsh criticism of his argument:

Can we all admit that nothing human lasts forever, including the United States? If we can (and we should), we must slowly grope at a point at which the country is truly changed fundamentally, and a return to constitutional government . . . is impossible. What then? Does Lowry admit this is a possibility? No, because that’s what ‘giving up on our birthright’ means to him; it means being stuck on the sinking ship, forever, impotently yelling stop—and believing so furiously that you sink along with it.

More importantly, Reaboi and others note, disunion (which he calls national divorce) is more a concept at this point than a political program.

“National divorce isn’t an immediate action plan,” he writes. “Rather it is a rhetorical strategy to prepare the ground for crucial discussions about what comes next in America, as the country grows ever more divided, bitter, and angry. More than anything else it is a reminder for Red America to think about economic and cultural autonomy for itself and what it would take to get there.”

Nor is disunion morally dubious: In fact, its earliest proponents were some of the most heroic Americans of their era, including America’s most important abolitionists, most notably William Lloyd Garrison, founder of The Liberator, America’s most important anti-slavery publication, whose masthead read “No Union with Slaveholders.”

So outraged was Garrison by slavery that his critiques of the pre-Cvil War Constitution as written go far beyond all but the most extreme modern critics on the Left or Right. Garrison referred to the Constitution’s implicit sanction of slavery as a “Covenant with Death” and an “Agreement with Hell.”

Garrison’s views weren’t idiosyncratic. The American Antislavery Society, the most important anti-slavery group in the United States, voted overwhelmingly for disunion in the 1840s. Horace Greeley, the famous anti-slavery editor of the New York Tribune who would be the Democratic nominee for pPresident in 1872, also supported the right of dDisunion, which he explicitly compared to the process of American Independence. Wendell Phillips, perhaps the preeminent figure in the abolitionist movement, argued, “it is impossible for free and slave states to unite on any terms, without all becoming partners in the guilt and responsible for the sin of slavery.”

Phillips further argued in support of disunion: “The abolitionists of this country should make it one of the primary objects of their agitation, to dissolve the American Union . . . [S]ecession from the present United States Government is the duty of every abolitionist.”

The Real Coldheartedtruth said...

That it was abolitionists who led the charge for disunion was acknowledged by a pro-Union and pro-slavery newspaper in Kentucky in 1861.

“For years, the abolitionists have hated and cursed the Constitution of the United States, because that alone stood in the way of their fiendish purposes. They were the first and the most venomous disunionists,” the paper editorialized.

Clearly, the notion that support for disunion makes one a racist or neo-confederate is wholly untethered from history.

There are, of course, entirely reasonable and practical objections to disunion: Red and blue states and communities are intermingled, we have an interdependent financial system, etc. Garrison outlined his own response to the practical considerations of disunion in his own day in a speech on disunion in June 1855:

We are asked, ‘How is the dissolution of the Union to be effected? Give us your plan!’ My answer is, whenever THE PEOPLE are ready for Disunion, they will easily find out a way to effect it. . . . Our preliminary work is, not to construct a new government, but first of all to make every Northern man see and confess, that our boasted Union is a snare, a curse, and a degrading vassalage;–in strict verity, that there is no Union for freedom to be dissolved, but ONE TO BE CREATED. . . (all emphases in the original)

And indeed, the Right should emulate Garrison’s reply as it seeks greater autonomy from the increasingly oppressive and maniacal blue state regime. We do not need to formulate a specific policy strategy today. But we should not apologize for representing the interests of ourselves and our voters. Nullification, rejection of judicial supremacy, and even ultimately disunion are simply tools, nothing less, nothing more. If they are used to preserve our freedoms and our independence, they are entirely worthy.

We should unreservedly reject the Left’s attempt to morally blackmail us by pretending that these tools are illegitimate. Certainly, neither the abolitionists nor President Lincoln himself allowed their political enemies to set the terms of the debate. Whatever fate awaits the American Right, we will decide it ourselves. Regardless of our choices, in 2021 there is no longer a union for those who love freedom to be dissolved. There is one to be created.

For White People Tired of Being Called “Racist”
by John Pavlovitz

Tonight, Nov. 10, I heard an NPR segment about how many white people in America are tired of being called racist for voting Republican.

The assembled pundits expounded eloquently about how “toxic” it is for them to constantly be bombarded with the assertion that their alignment with the GOP is based solely on white supremacy.

Further, they warned “activists on the Left” to be cautious about a corrosive political tactic that would surely drive these people deeper into solidarity with Donald Trump and his surrogates and ensure Republican victories in 2022 and 2024.

The conclusion of the conversation seemed to be that white people who voted for Trump a second time (even after his violent, predatory, disfigured four-year body of work) are tired of being labeled bigots and we should be nicer to them.

Garbage.

I’m a white American.

I am one of the 81 million Americans who voted for Joe Biden and in rejection of MAGA Republicanism and everything it stands for. I am both a person of faith and someone who considers themselves extremely patriotic—and do you know what I’m tired of?

I’m tired of white people supporting a political party incessantly working to keep people of color from voting and feigning outrage at the suggestion they may be racist.

I’m tired of a timeline, comment section, and inbox, littered with the most vile epithets and always knowing what voting block the authors belong to because they always tell me.

I’m tired of seeing people passionately defending a lawless vigilante like Kyle Rittenhouse, who executed people who were themselves protesting the unlawful assassination of an unarmed black man—and noticing they all share a similar pigmentation.

I’m tired of seeing the loudest, most violent opposition to racial equity in this country come from white people professing to love a dark-skinned, foreign Jesus and operating as if God is a white guy who was born in American, raised Christian, and votes Republican.

I’m tired of former church friends, neighbors, and family members hiding behind the flimsy facade of “economic insecurity” and “abortion”—to cover the reality that they are terrified of the shifting demographics of this nation and are willing to make the strangest bedfellows to stave them off.

I’m tired of seeing one political party legislatively assaulting vulnerable communities’ right to vote, healthcare, affordable housing, and comparable education—and of millions of white Americans trying to justify how they have been “driven to this” by activists and bloggers and the media, instead of just admitting they largely agree with the bigots.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

White people in America, if you’re really tired of being called racists, maybe you can begin by clearly, unequivocally, and loudly divorcing yourself from the single most racist entity on the planet right now. That would be a great start.

If you’re truly offended at the assertion that you might be a white supremacist—ask yourself whether sharing a voting block with The Proud Boys, the KKK, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert, Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, and BlueLivesMatter is a convincing rebuttal or a strong case for the prosecution.

You are known by the company you keep, by the people you vote for, those you contribute to and elevate to public office and the highest courts of this nation. And if your self-righteous outrage at being labeled a racist is real, you’re going to need to explain how you can be someone who honestly treasures diversity—and stands alongside its greatest and fiercest adversaries.

If you really find the idea of racism objectionable and are committed to dismantling it:

Work to ensure voting rights for all Americans—and take note of those resisting them.

Stop attacking Critical Race Theory and begin actually finding out what it is.

Read a book about the realities of systemic racism, white privilege, and the human toll of discrimination written by people of color.

Participate in and publicize a march, rally, vigil, or awareness event that you know will cause turbulence with your circle of influence—and ask yourself why that’s a problem.

Volunteer with a nonprofit, ministry, or community organization in your city working on the front lines where marginalized communities facing the direct effects of the legislation you support.

Openly confront family members, friends, coworkers, classmates, and social media friends when they perpetuate racist tropes and stereotypes—and see how they respond.

In other words: learn, speak, work, give, and vote in a way that rattles people of privilege, that takes power from those who traffic in inequity, and threatens those most comfortable in systemic supremacy. Be willing to cross the aisle or leave a church or lose a friend to demonstrate just how opposed to this you are.

If you’re not willing to do those things, you’re just going to have to deal with the fallout and the pushback and the implications from the rest of us.

You may be tired of being called racist, white friends. The rest of us are tired of you partnering with racists and expecting us to be OK with it and to be silent about it.

I’m not OK with it and I’m not going to be silent about it.

If that offends you, that’s on you.

All true, and there’s more.

Trump said he would end the war in Afghanistan.

He didn’t, although considering what happened when Biden ended it, that’s probably a good thing.

Trump did keep his promise to exit the Iran nuclear deal. However, he didn’t follow up by doing anything effective to stop Iran from developing nukes. Iran has threatened to destroy Israel. President Biden is working with our allies and the Russians and the Chinese to stop Iran from being a nuclear power.

Apparently, Trump thought his sanctions would cause Iran to give him a better deal. They didn’t, nor could they reasonably have been expected to. If anything, the mullahs were closer to having nukes when Trump left office than when he took it

In late summer, the administration released a new blueprint for streamlining the asylum process, shortening the adjudication of individual cases from years to months. This proposal would immediately increase the number of officials who are qualified to serve as adjudicators, and the administration should work to expand their ranks further until claims can be processed even faster.

President Ronald Reagan proposed a very similar approach. It might help him with the Hispanics who have recently moved to the right.

Don't Let Them Scare Your Freedoms Away

By Paul Krause

Another new day, another new variant of the coronavirus, another new scare campaign by the tyrannical medical establishment and their media lackeys (the South African doctor who discovered the variant says the symptoms are mild). This hasn’t stopped a new fear campaign and overreaction by many governments, though there is irony in that many who openly endorse murdering unborn babies are suddenly enthused with such zeal to protect human life in combating COVID. The problem with the new fear campaign over the omicron variant is the further degradation of liberty and Constitutional rights already manifesting because of it.

As the new Cold War with China ratchets up, the Western world has dealt the cards against themselves. The trumpet of freedom and liberty cannot be sounded without charges of hypocrisy and hollowness as we witness the supposedly free democratic world, especially in places like Australia and New Zealand (not to mention the United Kingdom and Europe), engage in the some of the most vicious and tyrannical lockdowns in the world. These lockdowns, restructuring of government power and control over businesses and individuals, aim at one thing: the remaking of our relationship to the state.

What the totalitarians who have weaponized the coronavirus fail to acknowledge is that they have politicized the virus, not conservatives, libertarians, and the few remaining civil liberals who are concerned with the aggressive and militant overreach of the federal government and medical institutions.

The new totalitarians assert those of us who wish to keep the flame of liberty and the human spirit alive of politicizing the virus. Shame is their calling card. The claim that liberty-loving and defending individuals have weaponized the virus for political purposes doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

Much like his non-existent plan to "Stop Covid in it's tracks" an agreement with Iran will be no different, and the State of Israel knows this, and I would expect them to act accordingly.

There's a reason there's so much psychological projection from the leftists here, and so much "BUT TRUMP!!!".

We estimate based on our pricing model, that the market has now priced in a mammoth c.7 mb/d [millions of barrels per day] negative demand hit over the next three months, with no offsetting OPEC+ response," pointed out Courvalin in a new research note on Wednesday.

Most Young Voters Say Democracy Is Failing
December 1, 2021 at 7:38 am EST By Taegan Goddard 6 Comments

A new Harvard Institute of Politics poll of 18- to 29-year olds finds 52% said democracy in the United States is either failing or in trouble.

The concern spans the ideological spectrum, with 45% of Democrats, 70% of Republicans and 51% of unaffiliated voters agreeing.

Meanwhile, President Biden’s approval numbers among young voters have taken a 13-point hit since the spring, with just 46% now approving of his job performance.

Conservatives Plot Shutdown Over Vaccine Mandate
December 1, 2021 at 7:33 am EST By Taegan Goddard 26 Comments

“Conservatives on both sides of the Capitol are privately plotting to force a government shutdown Friday in an effort to defund the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate on the private sector,“ Politico reports.

“Capitalizing on a last-minute scramble to fund the government, a group of Senate conservatives is planning to object to quick consideration of a stopgap measure to extend funding into early 2022 unless Democratic leaders agree to deny money to enforce the mandate. Because of the tight schedule — and Senate rules that require unanimous consent to move quickly — the senators believe they’ll be able to drag out the process well past midnight Friday, when funding officially expires.”

“The strategy, if it holds, means the government will likely shut down for several days — even if appropriators strike a bipartisan agreement to extend funding by the end of today.”

The public has always blamed Republicans for shut downs.

The CDC plans to “toughen coronavirus testing and screening of international fliers to the United States by requiring them to provide a negative result from a test taken within 24 hours of departure,” the New York Times reports.

“The move to strengthen the testing regime reflects growing concern about the Omicron variant, a highly mutated form of the virus that was first documented by researchers in South Africa and detected in more than a dozen countries around the world.”

Dear Muslim Friends (A Letter From A Peace Loving Christian)

Dear Muslim Friends,

I’m an American Christian and I’m sorry.

I’m sorry that the loudest voices representing my faith tradition right now seem to be the most hateful ones, the ones least like Jesus.

I’m sorry that these voices are making you feel unwelcome and unloved in this country, that they are magnifying fear, that they are causing you to experience terrible discrimination and undeserved animosity in the places you worship and raise your families and make your livings.

I’m sorry that you are being unfairly penalized and unceasingly demonized for a handful of twisted, violent people who share little more than simply the name of your faith. (I understand a small fraction of what that is like).

I need you to know that those angry bullies spreading ignorance and fear and bigotry and claiming to speak for Christians do not represent me, no matter how high a platform they have or how recognizable their names are or how much money they have.

They don’t represent most of the Christians I know either. They sure don’t represent Jesus.

You see, we fully realize that these men and women are extremists too. They too are terrorists, only instead of vest bombs and assault rifles and swords, their weapons are pulpits and podcasts and Senate seats. It’s all the same vile stuff in a different package, and it is all the enemy of Life.

There is little difference between them and those they so vehemently condemn, and so many of us know this. We recognize contempt and malice and bitterness, even when it is camouflaged in faith and wrapped in religion and we are having none of it, either in our name or in Jesus’.

We understand well that hatred is not the sole property of any faith tradition, and we reject the broad and damaging brush they paint you with because you deserve to be fully seen and fully heard and fully known. We all do.

We know that so many of you, like so may of us choose goodness and default to gentleness. We know that you too believe in the inherent value of all people and genuinely seek peace with those who live alongside you. We believe that you agree with us, that love and compassion and kindness and mercy are universal values, and that in so many fundamental ways we are the same.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

We are together in this; living shoulder to shoulder in the kindhearted middle of true Humanity, stuck wedged between warring factions who don’t realize they are so very much alike. We are all their collateral damage.

I apologize for those who are misrepresenting our Christian faith tradition and the way they have caused you such pain. I am sorry that they are perpetuating violence with every comment, every sermon, every stump speech, every Tweet—and that they show little remorse and great cruelty as they do so.

But more than that, I am sorry that so many of us have been so silent in the face of it all. Most people don’t have the power or the reach or the influence that they have, but that can no longer be an excuse.

Just as the beheaders and the bombers steal the voices and commandeer the faith tradition of your people in the world, so the predatory celebrity pastors and the bigoted politicians do ours. We’re going to change that. We have to.

Right now, please accept these words as a beginning; as confirmation that we are fully disgusted with our misguided brothers and sisters, that we condemn their continuing, narrow-minded, unprovoked attacks on you and your faith tradition, and that we are fully committed to finding a better response to violence than more violence.

We will not meet fear with fear.
We will not respond to bigotry with more of the same.
We will not be drafted into their manufactured holy war.

So until we can wrestle the microphone from those warmongers who have commandeered it, and until we can make sure that the voice of Jesus is the one most loudly representing us, please know that we are sorry.

We are called by our tradition to be forgivers, to be cheek turners, to be healers, to be peacemakers.

Many of us remember this.
Many of us desire this.
May this peace be in us.
And may this peace, be with you.

The President Biden economic recovery in setting record high numbers.

Companies added jobs at a robust pace in November despite worries about rising inflation and the threat that the pandemic could slow growth into the winter months, according to a report Wednesday from payroll processing firm ADP.

Private hiring increased by 534,000 for the month, better than the Dow Jones estimate of 506,000 in a labor market that appears to be getting tighter. The total was a decline from the October growth of 570,000, which was revised lower by 1,000.

Big business led job creation by company size, but it was hospitality and leisure that led in sectors.

The industry that includes bars, restaurants, hotels and similar businesses saw a gain of 136,000, part of the 424,000 positions added in the services sector.

Those also posting strong gains included professional and business services with 110,000, trade transportation and utilities with 78,000, and education and health services, which added 55,000.

On the goods-producing side, construction saw growth of 52,000 while manufacturing was up 50,000.

Companies employing 500 or more added 277,000 for the month, with growth especially strong in those with 1,000 or more workers, which contributed 234,000. Medium-sized firms hired 142,000 while those with fewer than 50 employees added 115,000.

CHRISTIE RIPS TRUMP FOR NOT DELIVERING

I’m not a fan of Chris Christie, but he’s a world-class hatchet man. His current target is Donald Trump.

Why? Maybe because Trump didn’t elevate him while president (probably due to the fact that Christie successfully prosecuted Jared Kushner’s crooked father). Maybe so Christie can boost sales of his book. Maybe because Christie anticipates running against Trump in 2024. Maybe all of the above.

I’m less interested in Christie’s motive than in the substance of his attack. The essence of it is that Trump “didn’t get a lot of stuff done.”

Like, let’s just go through the list of things. The wall isn’t built. Obamacare is still there. We didn’t get an infrastructure package done that we wanted, so now we’re stuck with theirs.

All true, and there’s more. Trump said he would end the war in Afghanistan. He didn’t, although considering what happened when Biden ended it, that’s probably a good thing.

This is an excerpt from the author’s new book, “A Plague Upon Our House,” which releases December 7 and is available now for preorder.

ater, Dr. Fauci appeared on TV and criticized my straightforward attempt to clarify important information as “extraordinarily inappropriate.” I wondered if he was more concerned with protecting his bureaucrat colleague’s reputation and undermining mine than ensuring that correct information was being told to the American public.

Martin Kulldorff, the world-renowned Harvard epidemiologist, posted his reaction on Twitter: “Scott Atlas stated the simple fact that immunity is higher than those with antibodies, whereupon Dr. Fauci criticizes him without contradicting what was actually said. Stating a simple scientific fact is not ‘extraordinarily inappropriate.’ What is going on?”

The real headline is...

The Supreme Court on Wednesday is taking up the most serious challenge in decades to the constitutional right to abortion established in Roe v. Wade in 1973. The Mississippi law at issue bans most abortions after 15 weeks into pregnancy and has not taken effect because lower courts said it violated Roe and the subsequent decision in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which said states may not ban abortion before viability, usually between 22 and 24 weeks.
Mississippi has only one abortion clinic in the state, and one of its doctors sued, saying the ban imposes an undue burden on the right to abortion. Mississippi told the court that allowing the 2018 law to stand would “scuttle a half-century of precedent.” The state says the Constitution does not protect a right to abortion and that the court’s precedents are “grievously wrong, unworkable, damaging and outmoded.”
Here’s what to know:
In accepting the case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the court said it will decide whether all prohibitions on abortion before viability are unconstitutional. Abortion opponents believe this is their best chance in decades.

The justices could overturn Roe or find another way to uphold the Mississippi law. The state suggested the court could hold that the law does not impose an “undue burden” on a significant number of women because the Mississippi clinic performs abortions only up to 16 weeks.

Past court rulings, public appearances and other public comments by the nine justices give insight into their thinking on abortion and court precedents.

Mississippi is represented by recently hired Solicitor General Scott G. Stewart, a former law clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas. The abortion provider is represented by attorney Julie Rikelman, litigation director for the Center for Reproductive Rights. U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth B. Prelogar will also argue on behalf of the abortion provider.

The Heresy of Christian Nationalism

God doesn’t bless America.

That’s not how this works.

I’m sorry to break it to you, Bible Belt Christians—but that’s just how it is.

I know this kinda wrecks the convenient narrative you’ve been working for the past 60 or so years (and hitting especially hard the past eighteen months), but honestly that nasty bit of heresy has done enough damage already and it needs to go. It’s straight-up of the devil.

I’m not sure where you’re getting your taglines and hat slogans from, but I know it isn’t from the Bible. I know it isn’t from your coveted and regularly trotted out John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God loved the world.
God is in the world-loving business—
not the America-blessing business.

You remember the world, don’t you;
that massive, spinning sphere of 7.6 billion disparate human beings: brown people, Muslims, LGBTQ folks, Atheists, shithole countries—and lots and lots of non-English speaking, non-Americans?

Check out the Old and New Testaments again.
Read through the Gospels a few times.
Use any translation you’d like:

No America First.

No Making America Great Again (or at all.)

No flags or national anthems to pledge allegiance to.

A few other bits of news from the Scriptures:
Jesus was born in the Middle East.
He didn’t speak English.
He wasn’t white.
He wasn’t Evangelical.
He wasn’t a Republican.
He wasn’t American.
Heck, he wasn’t even Christian.

Jesus was a Rabbi who spent his days as an itinerant street preacher, living off the generosity of strangers and speaking in parables about a new “Kingdom of God:'” a radical way of living where the poor were cared for, the oppressed freed, and the outcasts welcomed in.

Jesus came to usher in a countercultural kind of interdependent community, in direct opposition to the power-wielding Roman Empire he stepped into. It was a diverse, barrier-breaking, border-transcending, nation-defying movement of generosity and mutual affection. It had nothing to do with blessing a Government or building an army—or creating a gated community of white folks in North America two thousand years in the future.

To claim that America was at all the point of the Gospels is flat-out heresy.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

To assume any God-ordained supremacy based on religion, nation of origin, pigmentation, orientation, or native tongue—is a perversion of the work of Jesus and idolatry of the worst kind.

I’m sorry to break all this bad news to you. I understand the actual words of the Gospel are problematic, given the story you’re selling to those whose fear you’re leveraging in America right now.

It’s impossible to be devoted to the Jesus of the Scriptures, while refusing refugees, expelling immigrants, demonizing Muslims, vilifying people of color, worshiping political power, and neglecting the poor—which is exactly the point.

As long as you continue to conflate God and America, you’re going to be
whitewashing the Good News,
shrinking God into your own image,
and bastardizing the message of Jesus in ways that can only be described as fully and violently heretical.

If your God is America—you need a bigger God.

John McAfee Film in the Works From ‘Plot Against the President’ Director (Exclusive)

Amanda Milius, whose Russiagate critique became one of the most successful docs of 2020, has acquired rights to Mark Eglinton’s upcoming book 'No Domain: The John McAfee Tapes.'

Amanda Milius’ AMDC Films has acquired film and TV rights to Mark Eglinton’s upcoming book No Domain: The John McAfee Tapes. AMDC Films is developing a feature narrative film as well as a companion documentary based on the book, which features hours of taped interviews with the late anti-virus software pioneer whose death in June spawned a raft of conspiracy theories.

Milius, whose Russiagate critique The Plot Against the President became one of the most successful docs of 2020, prevailed for the No Domain rights in a competitive situation. The filmmaker, who is the daughter of legendary Apocalypse Now screenwriter John Milius, is making the McAfee films as her follow-up to Plot Against the President. That film, which was based on Lee Smith’s 2019 best-seller of the same name, became a surprise hit on streaming platforms by tapping into a large, underserved audience — mostly representing the right wing but also the far left — that was skeptical of the origins of and reliance on the so-called “Steele dossier,” which pointed to a high-level conspiracy between then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and Moscow. According to a Justice Department indictment released earlier this month, the contents of that dossier were a deliberately concocted lie now denounced as fraudulent by the FBI.

How the Corporate Media Launched a Disinformation Campaign to Protect Fauci
As public anger grew over gruesome and medically useless dog experiments funded by Fauci's agencies and budgets, his media allies came to the rescue with a pack of lies.

By now you’ve surely heard about Anthony Fauci and his laboratory beagles, but in case you haven’t, it goes like this: For forty years, Fauci, as the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), has funded gruesome experiments on animals. Beagles in particular are one of the favored species for these experiments, because of their docile and people-pleasing nature, which makes for less hassle for the humans who subject them to pain and suffering. In one of these NIAID-funded experiments, in Tunisia, sedated beagles’ heads were put into mesh bags with swarms of starved sand flies, who fed on the live dogs.

The other thing you may have heard is that the story is just another right-wing conspiracy theory. You may have heard this from The Washington Post, from any of a number of self-proclaimed “fact checkers,” or maybe even from the globally renowned Beacon of Honesty David Frum of The Atlantic.

I think Smollett may indeed have faked the attack on him in order to benefit personally.
If so, so what?

What happened today to @JussieSmollett must never be tolerated in this country. We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie.

The wikipedia article on Jesse Smolette tells me all I need to know about this.
I think he will be found guilty of faking the attack. On the other hand, he did apparenty receive nasty messages from Trump supporters.

Falsely reporting an incident is a crime. A crime that in this case consumed an enormous amount of law enforcement and legal resources. At the very least Smollett needs to be forced to fork over millions to cover the costs incurred, and he should be publicly humiliated and ostracized to keep assholes like him from perpetuating race hoaxes.

For the past several years, every time I see a news report of another race-based "hate" crime, I pause and wait for it to be revealed that it was all bullshit to begin with.

The goal of race-baiters like Smollett and others seems to be to set race relations BACK in America.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. manufacturing activity picked up in November amid strong demand for goods, keeping inflation high as factories continued to struggle with pandemic-related shortages of raw materials.

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said on Wednesday its index of national factory activity increased to a reading of 61.1 last month from 60.8 in October.

A reading above 50 indicates expansion in manufacturing, which accounts for 12% of the U.S. economy. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the index rising to 61.0.

Global economies' simultaneous recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, fueled by trillions of dollars in relief money from governments, has strained supply chains, leaving factories waiting longer to receive raw materials.

Did it include Biden's reaction ?

Or Harris's ?

or is it just proving to be the untrustworthy left-wing site it has become.

Race based hate crimes do happen. Remember all those lynchings?
To say that none of it still goes on is to deny huge amounts of evidence that it does, including videos of it happening.

And yes, there are race based hate crimes perpetrated on both sides.
