From our favorite pundit from Politicalwire.com
So to be clear here, it would certainly seem like Joe Manchin has been reading the polling that shows Americans are not too terribly happy with the idea of spending 3 trillion dollars. The 1.2 trillion dollar infrastructure bill is a bipartisan effort that will not necessarily be what Joe Biden wanted and will not garner the kudos from anyone that Joe Biden would like to see based on his build back better agenda and goals to redesign the American economy in some structural way.
Of course, even if you gave liberals the 6 trillion dollars that Bernie Sanders wants, doesn't mean that you will get any sort of positive transformation of our American economy. You will just see deficits that go from here to the moon and an eventual collapse of said economy when as the old saying goes... Democrats literally run out of other people's money.
Manchin Demands House Vote on Infrastructure Bill
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said that it is “time to vote” on the bipartisan infrastructure bill and that “holding this bill hostage is not going to work in getting my support for the reconciliation bill.”
He added that he won’t support a reconciliation bill without greater clarity: “Simply put, I will not support a bill that is this consequential without thoroughly understanding the impact that it will have on our national debt, our economy, and most importantly, all of our American people.”
Jayapal Signals Votes on Both Bills
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) signaled that Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) comments earlier will not impact what House progressives do this week, CNN reports.
She said they will vote for both the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill and the $1.75 trillion budget reconciliation bill — without knowing what Manchin will ultimately do.
Said Jayapal: “The president says he can get 51 votes for the bill, we are going to trust him… We’re tired of continuing to wait for one or two people.”

BLOODSHEDFor 187 harrowing minutes, the president
watched his supporters attack the
Capitol — and resisted pleas to stop them.
Oct. 31, 2021
President Donald Trump had just returned to the White House from his rally at the Ellipse on Jan. 6 when he retired to his private dining room just off the Oval Office, flipped on the massive flat-screen television and took in the show. At the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, thousands of his supporters were wearing his red caps, waving his blue flags and chanting his name.
Live television news coverage showed the horror accelerating minute by minute after 1:10 p.m., when Trump had called on his followers to march on the U.S. Capitol. The pro-Trump rioters toppled security barricades. They bludgeoned police. They scaled granite walls. And then they smashed windows and doors to breach the hallowed building that has stood for more than two centuries as the seat of American freedom .
The Capitol was under siege — and the president, glued to the television, did nothing. For 187 minutes, Trump resisted entreaties to intervene from advisers, allies and his elder daughter, as well as lawmakers under attack. Even as the violence at the Capitol intensified, even after Vice President Mike Pence, his family and hundreds of Congress members and their staffers hid to protect themselves, even after the first two people died and scores of others were assaulted, Trump declined for more than three hours to tell the renegades rioting in his name to stand down and go home.
During the 187 minutes that Trump stood by, harrowing scenes of violence played out in and around the Capitol. Twenty-five minutes into Trump’s silence, a news photographer was dragged down a flight of stairs and thrown over a wall. Fifty-two minutes in, a police officer was kicked in the chest and surrounded by a mob. Within the first hour, two rioters died as a result of cardiac events. Sixty-four minutes in, a rioter paraded a Confederate battle flag through the Capitol. Seventy-three minutes in, another police officer was sprayed in the face with chemicals. Seventy-eight minutes in, yet another police officer was assaulted with a flagpole. Eighty-three minutes in, rioters broke into and began looting the House speaker’s office. Ninety-three minutes in, another news photographer was surrounded, pushed down and robbed of a camera. Ninety-four minutes in, a rioter was shot and killed. One hundred two minutes in, rioters stormed the Senate chamber, stealing papers and posing for photographs around the dais. One hundred sixteen minutes in, a fourth police officer was crushed in a doorway and beaten with his own baton.
All in the first two hours.
Trump watched the attack play out on television and resisted acting, neither to coordinate a federal response nor to instruct his supporters to disperse. He all but abdicated his responsibilities as commander in chief — a president reduced to mere bystander. The tweets Trump sent during the first two hours of rioting were muddled at best. He disavowed violence but encouraged his supporters to press on with their fight at the Capitol. And throughout, he repeated the lie that the election was stolen.
2
His “Make America Great Again” army was on the march, just as he had commanded at the rally. The president had directed his followers to head to the Capitol in a forceful show of “pride and boldness” to pressure lawmakers to try to overturn the results of an election he falsely claimed had been rigged. And there they were, literally fighting to keep Trump in power.
“He was enamored with [how] ‘all these people are coming to fight for me,’ ” said a senior Republican close to him. “I don’t think he appreciated what was going on.”
3
An investigation by The Washington Post provides the richest understanding to date of Trump’s mindset and the cost of his inaction as democracy came under attack. It also reveals new aspects of an extensive pressure campaign by the president and those around him to get Pence to block certification of the election results — including a last-ditch appeal on the night of Jan. 6, after the riot was over, by attorney John C. Eastman, who urged Pence to reject electors as Congress reconvened.
In a statement, Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich disputed The Post’s findings as “fake news” and falsely cast people who entered the Capitol that day as “agitators not associated with President Trump.”
4
The Post’s investigation also found that signs of escalating danger were in full view hours before the Capitol attack, including clashes that morning among hundreds of pro-Trump demonstrators and police at the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. The mounting red flags did not trigger stepped-up security responses that morning, underscoring how unprepared law enforcement authorities were for the violence that transpired. Yet some officials knew what to expect; Rep. Liz CheneyRep. Liz CheneyThe GOP congresswoman from Wyoming worked behind the scenes to make sure the Jan. 6 electoral count was not disrupted. Afterward, she paid a steep political price. (R-Wyo.) had hired a personal security detail out of fear for her own safety.
Key findingsEscalating danger signs were in full view hours before the Capitol attack, but did not trigger a stepped-up security responseTrump had direct warnings of the risks, but stood by for 187 minutes before telling his supporters to go homeHis allies pressured Pence to reject the election results even after the Capitol siegeThe FBI was forced to improvise a plan to take back control of the Capitol
View all key findings
As Trump watched on television as rioters broke into the Capitol, he raged to those around him about the vice president. At 2:24 p.m., the very moment that Pence and his family were endangered by violent marauders calling him a traitor — “Hang Mike Pence!” some of them chanted — Trump made clear in a tweet whose side he was on:
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!
Jan. 6, 2:24 p.m.
Two minutes later, Trump called Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a newly elected Republican from Alabama who had been one of the president’s more outspoken allies propagating election fraud claims. “Coach, how’s it going?” Trump asked the former Auburn University football coach.
“Not very good, Mr. President,” Tuberville responded. “As a matter of fact, they’re about to evacuate us.”
“I know we’ve got problems,” Trump responded.

Keith Kellogg, Pence’s national security adviser, who spent the day at the White House and was in and out of the Oval Office talking to Trump, had related to the president that the vice president was safe in the Capitol basement with his wife and daughter. But Trump had no reaction. Trump instead stayed focused on the television.
6
Many others tried to influence the president. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), a Trump booster, called him and said, “You have to denounce this.” Trump falsely claimed to McCarthy that the rioters were members of antifa, but McCarthy corrected him and said they were in fact Trump supporters.
“You know what I see, Kevin? I see people who are more upset about the election than you are. They like Trump more than you do,” the president replied.
“You’ve got to hold them,” McCarthy said. “You need to get on TV right now, you need to get on Twitter, you need to call these people off.”
Trump responded, “Kevin, they’re not my people.”
McCarthy told the president, “Yes they are, they just came through my windows and my staff is running for cover. Yeah, they’re your people. Call them off.”

How many of those Jan 6th protesters were FBI or incited by the FBI ?
Who instigated the protesters, Trump or the Capitol Police or the FBI ?
How many walked in in an orderly fashion ?
Why has the "justice" department not released the video tapes ?
Why has the FBI not come clean on any involvement though circumstantial evidence is very strong.
Why did Nancy turn down extra security which the White House wanted and offered ?
I wonder what Tucker has uncovered?

In the Oval Office later that morning, Trump hung around with family members and aides, alternating between watching the television in his private dining room to check on the size of the crowd assembling at the Ellipse and reviewing with speechwriter Stephen Miller the scripted remarks he was set to deliver. Some of those around Trump, including Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., indulged the fantasy that Pence would help overturn the election results.
Guilfoyle argued to Trump that the swelling crowd outside represented a national consensus. “They’re just reflecting the will of the people,” she told him. “This is the will of the people.”
13
Trump and Pence spoke by phone that morning. It was a terse call, as Pence reiterated what he had told the president the day before when they met face-to-face in the Oval Office: that he had no choice but to oversee the certification of the electoral college. Speaking from the Naval Observatory, Pence explained that the vice president’s duty was ceremonial and that his authority was limited, no matter how badly Pence may have wanted them to serve a second term.
Trump was unforgiving. “You don’t have the courage to make a hard decision,” he told Pence.

Feeding the Liberal Flock: The Real Reasons for the Congressional 1/6 Committee
The Biden DOJ has not charged one 1/6 defendant with insurrection, sedition or plotting to kidnap or kill. Democrats need Adam Schiff and Liz Cheney to satiate liberal anger.
Underlying so much of the anger and resentment surrounding 1/6 is the complete dissonance between the narrative fed to the citizenry by Democrats and their media allies on the one hand, and the legal realities on the other. It must be infuriating and baffling to a large sector of the population to have been convinced that what happened on January 6 was an unprecedentedly dangerous insurrection perpetrated by an organized group of seditious traitors who had plotted to kidnap and murder elected officials, only for the Biden DOJ to have charged exactly nobody with any criminal charges remotely suggesting any of those melodramatic claims.

The richest people on earth want a communist government by colluding with the evil Democratic regime..LMAO and stole the election
Widespread Collusion
The progressives’ champions were funded by tech oligarchs and promoted by the mainstream media. Even Republican state officials colluded. For instance, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp watered down signature-matching requirements in 2019 to appease Stacey Abrams’ claims of “voter suppression” when she lost to him in 2018. Of course, appeasement just emboldens the bully. Later in 2019, the Democratic Party’s chief elections litigator, Marc Elias, sued Raffensperger, who consented to allow for disputed absentee ballots to be “cured” rather than summarily discounted, and to allow Democrats to train and advise officials on signature matching.
Georgia’s primary election in June 2020 was conducted by the counties. They made a mess of it—especially the strongly Democratic counties. The worst offender, Fulton County, was forced to agree to federal monitoring and various training and performance standards. Yet state reforms were perversely to their advantage. Raffensperger inexplicably directed most of the reform funds to those same Democratic counties, which promoted yet more mail-in voting.
Millions of dollars were sourced from Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, acting mainly through the Center for Election Innovation and Research (CEIR) and Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL). Both centers were founded and run by former affiliates of the Democratic Party. Some of these affiliates were given roles in the implementation of official reforms. In the city of Green Bay, Wisconsin, they were actually given keys to the central counting facility and ballot machines.
Did election integrity improve given this outsourcing? No. In Green Bay, poll workers “cured” ballots with the same color pens voters had used. Subsequently, Wisconsin’s legislature voted to ban private funding of election operations, only to be vetoed by Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
CEIR reported that it contacted all 50 states, of which 23 were awarded funds. What CEIR did not explicitly report was that it gave 7.6 times more funds to Democratic states than to states that had voted for Trump in 2016. CEIR gave more than half of its money to four battleground states: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona.
Georgia received more than $31 million, or nine percent, of all “Zuck Bucks.” Yet not all of Georgia’s counties received funding. Biden-voting counties received $7.13 per registered voter, on average, compared to $1.91 in Trump-voting counties. Counties that did not receive CEIR funding did not show significant voting shifts from 2016 to 2020, but the funded counties showed an average shift of 2.3 percent in favor of Democrats.
The disputed runoff for Georgia’s two U.S. senators accounted for another $14.5 million from Zuckerberg’s organizations, with similar bias in favor of Democratic counties.
The other battleground states showed the same funding bias. In the end, Zuckerberg had channeled more than $400 million into nominally non-partisan election reforms.
For example if you were a gangster and you wanted a guy to kill your competitive team, you can be a with murder in the first degree.
If he testifies against you, unless you can prove a reasonable doubt, you will die of a drug injection
Even Republican state officials colluded

Biden's overall take on his efforts: On climate change, he’s got $900 billion planned for renewable energy, and Congress will vote this coming week. On supply chains, he has plans to make the ports run better and tamp down inflation. For workers, he’s building an economy with pay raises. On diplomacy, world leaders trust him.
So where the fuck are all these plans pastor political hack?

Jayapal Signals Votes on Both Bills
November 1, 2021 at 4:24 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 168 Comments
That’s an indication that Jayapal knows what Speaker Nancy Pelosi knew all along: Joe Manchin has all the power.
I still have a feeling that Biden will prevail.
Because the infrastructure bill will change the country.
Biden will get two bills passed.
He will get $4.5 Trillion or so.
Climate Change, formerly known as “Global Warming”, has become a favorite topic and virtue signal of the jet-setting Globalist elite and social justice warriors across all intersectional spectrums.
Starting yesterday, fans of what I believe to be the World’s largest child sex trafficking Jame's, extortion, and racketeering organization will be meeting in Glasgow, Scotland for the 26th iteration of the COP26 Climate Conference. These meetings will continue over the next couple of weeks until November 12th (via Guardian).
This morning, during the opening speeches of today’s events, Sleepy Joe Biden did what we all expected him to…
Fall asleep immediately.
The alky is not allowed to go home to his transdaughter Char Lee. Because he shits his pants like Sleepy Joe.
The media touted Biden’s extra long visit with the Pope but forgot to leave a small detail and that’s Biden reportedly pooped his pants at the Vatican.
As some of you already know, while Biden and Pope Francis were set to have an hour long interview, suddenly all live streams of Biden’s visit with the Pope were cut off.
The event seemed bizarre and many people didn’t know why.
Well, rumors that have been floating in Rome claim that the livestream was cut off due to the fact Biden pooped his pants!
The word around Rome is that Biden’s meeting with the Pope was unusually long because Biden had a bit of an “bathroom accident” at the Vatican & it had to be addressed prior to him leaving.
I know we joke often about this, but this is the actual rumor going around Rome now.
Planning an Insurrection is treason.
FBI has said that they have found no evidence of anyone planning any sort of coup, insurrection, or any coordination at all in terms of an attack on the Capital building.
The President planned a peaceful rally where 99% plus of the attendees were perfectly peaceful. He specifically called on the people there to be peaceful.
Your hate just doesn't allow you to think, Roger.
Pretty simple really.
But then again... what does the FBI know, huh?
Politicians will gaslight you!
Biden's Economic Policies caused Inflation to Soar.
Making Government more expensive to run.
"7.12 percent!
Series I savings bonds you buy between now and the end of April 2022 will earn interest for the first six months at an annual rate of 7.12 percent. That’s the second-highest rate ever!"
He will get $4.5 Trillion or so.
At best he will get $1.2 trillion and $1.75 trillion.
But the $1.2 trillion is the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
It is not part of the Biden build back better agenda.
The BBB agenda is down to $1.75 trillion, when and if Joe Manchin signs on. The man suggested in the past 24 hours that he is not very close to signing on to any amount of spending that large. He probably feels buoyed in his position by recent polling showing the public really really moving against this spending.
The BBB agenda might be down to zero of Manchin has his way.
The fact that the House will vote and pass the $1.2 trillion takes away any leverage progressives have on the reconciliation BBB bill. Once it is passed, Manchin, Sinema, and others have zero incentive to pass the other.

Walter Shapiro: “It was always folly to believe that Biden and the Democrats could top the New Deal and LBJ’s Great Society with a 50–50 Senate and just three votes to spare in the House. The White House deserves some of the blame for encouraging unrealistic expectations about what was ever possible in a Congress poised on the knife edge.”
“As a result, Democrats refuse to recognize their own victories. In addition to the $1.9 trillion stimulus package, Congress is poised to approve a $1 trillion infrastructure bill and, most likely, the downsized $1.75 trillion Biden spending plan. A trillion here and a trillion there—and pretty soon it adds up to real money. It might not be LBJ’s full Great Society package, but add the three bills up, and it amounts to transformational policies buttressing the social safety net and battling climate change.”
Back in 1966, Vermont Senator George Aiken offered a simple success formula for Vietnam: “The United States should declare victory and get out.” This week, the Democrats should try an analogous approach in Congress. Declare both the infrastructure bill and the $1.75 trillion spending package as major victories—and get out of the doldrums to start trumpeting how that spending will improve everyday life.
Make no mistake: The future of American democracy will be on the ballot in 2022—and, to some extent, in the Virginia gubernatorial race Tuesday. The thought of a gleeful Trump and McConnell should make any Democrat, from left-wing activists to cautious moderates, recoil in horror. Electoral politics requires patience and perspective as much as passion and principle. That’s why, less than a year after Biden’s election, Democrats should get off the window ledge and, instead, take a moment to glory in how far America has come since January 20.

Vaccine Mandates
These are not "vaccines." A real vaccine prevents disease and prevents the transmission of that disease. These do neither. (To their credit, if you "read between the lines" and paid close attention in the beginning, the drug-makers never said they were traditional vaccines — only that they would mitigate the symptoms to some degree and reduce the severity of the infection.) These are really nothing more than therapeutics, with bad side effects. Safer, more effective, and cheaper therapeutics already exist, like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. But the government's politically motivated refusal to encourage or even allow any mention or use of these proven therapeutics is further evidence that the entire COVID debacle has been hijacked by Progressives to rig elections and wrest control of the country. They need to perpetuate the public's fear of the COVID crisis in order to maintain their control of the voting process and they are doing everything they can toward that end.

Third time is the charm??
No!
President Biden and congressional leaders are forging ahead with plans to have the House vote on his two massive spending plans, even while backing off their Tuesday deadline amid persistent concerns from key lawmakers.
Manchin begs to differ.
Ah, another fun day at the office. Made extra fun because instead of the usual routine — kicking CNN or MSNBC’s ass — I get to take the granddaddy of “fake news” out behind the journalism woodshop and kick the hell out of his ass. That granddaddy, of course, is discredited ex-CBS News anchor Dan Rather.
As you might remember, Rather was unceremoniously removed from his “CBS Evening News” anchor desk in 2004 after the accuracy of his bogus story questioning President George W. Bush‘s military service was publicly disputed by the Bush administration.
His career forever tarnished, Rather left CBS News altogether in 2006. As bad, Rather still insists the bullcrap story was true and that he was guilty only of “sloppy reporting.”
Yeah — so this is the kind of guy we’re dealing with, here.
Anyway, as the “Let’s go, Brandon” (LGB) phenomenon exploded, quickly becoming the rallying cry of untold millions of Americans who are over the destruction that Joe Biden has purposely wrought on this country, the liberal media sock puppets have continued their collective hypocritical histrionic faux outrage.
And what better opportunity for a former liberal media sockpuppet like Rather to once again step up to the hypocritical plate and do what he does best — completely humiliate himself. Again.
As reported by The Blaze, Rather and co-author Elliot Kirschner dropped a Substack essay titled “A Party Embraces Vulgarity” in which they attacked the LGB chant with a level of complete lack of self-awareness seldom seen — except by pretty much 100 percent of the left, that is:
To be sure, many Democrats have said some form of “F- Donald Trump.” There was even a rap song to that effect. We all have a right to free speech.
But when Republican elected representatives say “Let’s go Brandon” to end a speech on the House floor, like Bill Posey, a Republican from Florida did, or wear a “Let’s go Brandon” facemask, like South Carolina Republican Jeff Duncan did, or when Ted Cruz can’t get enough of it, something else is going on.
This is a movement that has engulfed the party, and party leaders think they can use it to effectively rally their voters. The sad truth is that they are likely right.
Really? And that horrific “Let’s go Brandon” facemask? Awful. Wait — remember the horrible face, below, Dann-O? No, not Kathy Griffith — the severed head of Donald Trump covered in the blood.
It got worse.
The ridiculous essay suggests “Let’s go, Brandon” is “about much more than political passion or anger. It’s about weaponizing the vulgar dehumanization of our entire democratic — small d — experiment.”
Dan Rather, ladies and gentlemen, at his “finest.”
“Shockingly,” Rather and Kirschner rushed to Biden’s defense, as well.
[Biden is] not only a person; he is the President of the United States, whether your tinfoil-shrouded conspiracy brain cares to recognize that fact or not. [You mean how you recognized the fact that Donald Trump was president, Dan-O?]
How many times have we heard Republicans sanctimoniously preach about how Democrats don’t ‘respect’ the office of the presidency for such things as President Obama not saluting properly or wearing a tan suit?
Ooh, I’m glad you brought up Chicago Jesus Obama!

Stop comparing Biden’s poll numbers to Trump’s at this point in their Presidencies. Seriously stop. Trump had the ENTIRE media pretending he was Russian. Biden had the entire media pretending he was sane.
the actual failed coup
"russia/Trump collusion" narrative
“Let’s Go Brandon!” succinctly describes how wrong things are with the Joe Biden presidency (*). To paraphrase the Declaration, in the short nine-month history of the present administration (*) there is a long list of injuries, injustices, abuses, and usurpations, all for its goal of establishing absolute tyranny over the citizens and the states.
“Let’s Go Brandon!” is our modern-day Tea Party.
Best yet, “Let’s Go Brandon” is an intervention with our more moderate Democrat-voting relatives, friends, and neighbors, so that they may come to grips with what they have wrought on the country. They must all be carefully, gently, but truthfully, led to repentance for having given our birthrights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness to those who seek our destruction.
So then, “Let’s Go, Brandon!”
Fuck Biden
This is why I respect him, despite having different opinions about politics.
Mike Pence offers a name when asked who told him to 'buck' Trump and certify the vote
Bob Brigham
November 01, 2021
Former Vice President Mike Pence was pressed on why he did not overturn the election results at a Young America's Foundation event at the University of Iowa.
An individual who identified himself as "Jared" prefaced his question by noting it would be "a little long."
"On January 5th, you were convinced that the election was correctly stolen," Jared claimed. "You, Trump, Peter Navarro, John Eastman, and others had a plan on the morning of the 6th to send the certification back to the states."
"On the night of the 5th or the morning of the 6th, someone in the White House convinced you that it would destroy your hopes of becoming president if you sent it back to the states. My question is what is the name of the person who told you to buck President Trump's plan and certify the votes?" Jared asked.
"James Madison," Pence responded, referring to the "Father of the Constitution."
So all of the leftists who espoused "Fuck Trump" every waking moment, who cheered on the 'beheading' of Trump as satire, and who loved the fictional murder of Trump is various plays, and even those here who are captivated by his 'mushroom member' now have a massive case of butt hurt over "Let's Go Brandon" and "Fuck Joe Biden?"
Huh.
To them I say - "Good."
And "Go Fuck Yourselves."
The asshole you installed in the white house just shit himself in front of the Holy See, can't master a simple flight of stairs, won't take a non-scripted question, completely screwed the fucking pooch in Afghanistan, and actually does live up to the 'Sleepy Joe' moniker by falling asleep as the latest climate hypocrite conference.

Ever since Democrats won control of the House in 2018, many predicted the Congressional Progressive Caucus would become an irritant and obstacle for Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Some thought the group would do to Democrats what the House Freedom Caucus did to Republicans under Speaker John Boehner and advocate for ideological purity above all else.
And for the last few weeks, it seemed like those predictions might come true as the progressives refused to vote for the bipartisan infrastructure bill until they were guaranteed the budget reconciliation bill would also pass the Senate.
Even though House progressives are ideological outliers, what makes them different than the House Freedom Caucus is they’re also pragmatists. They’re actually trying to pass legislation that affects people’s lives.
For weeks, the progressives used whatever political power they thought they had to push for their preferred policies. But when it became clear yesterday that they no longer had leverage, they quickly changed their strategy.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) now says her group “trusts” President Biden to round up the votes in the Senate for the budget reconciliation bill.
It’s probably not going to be that simple, but progressives say they won’t stop Pelosi when she brings up the infrastructure bill as soon as this week.
And that’s because they actually want the infrastructure bill.

Biden’s agenda blown off course by shifting political winds
In emphasizing fiscal prudence and discipline in selling his $3 trillion spending plans, the president is all but admitting he’s pushing an agenda that’s at odds with public preferences.
One of the most telling signs that President Biden has lost the narrative over his $3 trillion spending push came at the beginning of his address Thursday to close the sale of his Build Back Better agenda. In a speech that claimed victory for a deal that still hasn’t been agreed to by members of his own party, Biden led his remarks by proclaiming the deal was fiscally prudent, would reduce the deficit, and temper inflation.
“It’s fiscally responsible. It’s fully paid for. Seventeen Nobel Prize winners in economics have said it will lower the inflationary pressures on the economy,” Biden said. “And over the next 10 years, it will not add to the deficit at all; it will actually reduce the deficit, according to the economists.”
Consider that: In touting the benefits of a package that would spend an additional $3 trillion on top of the $1.9 trillion in stimulus money passed earlier this year, Biden is selling the package based on its fiscal prudence. Talk about chutzpah. We’ll let the fact checkers determine whether Biden’s economic claims are credible, but as a political matter, his need to temper concerns about excessive spending speaks volumes about the growing skepticism among the American public for major governmental programs as a tonic for the nation’s economic challenges.
The politics of the country have shifted markedly since Biden took office just nine months ago. At the beginning of the year, Biden was all but proclaiming the era of big government was back. He assumed the end of the pandemic would lead to healthy economic growth, boosting American optimism—and an appetite for endless stimulus. Instead, the pandemic lingered longer than the administration imagined and the excessive early spending binge caused inflationary pressures that wiped out all of the wage growth that top Biden administration officials have been bragging about.
As a result, the public has turned against the promise of a big, expensive government. A new Gallup survey found that a healthy 52 percent majority now believe that the government “is doing too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses,” while just 43 percent agree that the government “should do more to solve the country's problems.” That’s a major shift from the beginning of the Biden presidency, when 54 percent favored a greater role for government in the economy. It’s also reflective of the historical patterns of American public opinion: Aside from a surge of pro-government sentiment during the pandemic, majorities of Americans going back decades have favored more restrained government.
But in misreading the public’s appetite for endless government spending, the administration has empowered progressives at every turn to demand an unrealistic wish list of pie-in-the-sky agenda items that never had any chance of passing through an evenly divided Senate and House.

Democrats Could Lose Senate Majority at Any Time
November 2, 2021 at 9:48 am EDT
Walter Shapiro:
“The real threat to Senate Democrats lies in the unalterable realities of human mortality. The point is not to be ghoulish but realistic. Container ships from China have been moving faster than congressional negotiations over the Biden reconciliation package. Manchin wrote a memo to Chuck Schumer at the end of July saying that he would not support a spending plan of more than $1.5 trillion. Only now—three months later—are Democrats finally adjusting to the reality that talk of $3.5 trillion in spending was little more than a left-wing air castle.
“What makes this dilatory pace unfathomable is that Democrats know the disastrous implications of the loss of a single Senate seat in the midst of a legislative battle.”

In addition to the gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, there are dozens of mayoral races, two special elections for House seats in Ohio and a special House primary in Florida.
Quote of the Day
November 2, 2021 at 7:38 am EDT
“I thought it was a missed opportunity. I thought we looked terrible, and we need to make good on this.”
— Speaker Nancy Pelosi, quoted by Politico, to Democrats in a private meeting last night on not voting for the bipartisan infrastructure bill last week.
Raffensperger Warns of More Political Violence
November 2, 2021 at 7:33 am EDT
“The Georgia election official who defied pressure by Donald Trump to “find” votes and overturn his 2020 election loss in the state says the brutal condition of American politics could lead to more protests and violence like the Jan. 6 insurrection by Trump supporters,” USA Today reports.
Said Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger:
“What really bothers me the most is that people are now trying to minimize what happened on January 6. I find that really, highly objectionable … People need to know people did that.”
The New GOP Brand Is ‘Trump Light’
November 2, 2021 at 6:55 am EDT
"Win or lose in today’s Virginia governor’s race, Glenn Youngkin has created a new template for Republican candidates running in competitive races in the Trump era,” Axios reports.
“Republicans, with swing states set to dictate Senate control in 2022, are scrambling to strike a balance — when Full Trump is too hot in swing states like Virginia, but Never Trump is too cold for the former president’s rabid fans.”
Hugh Hewitt:
“If Youngkin wins, every Republican in the country will study his playbook.”
Is Virginia a Purple State Again?
November 2, 2021 at 6:47 am EDT
NBC News:
“A win Tuesday by Youngkin or anyone else on the GOP ticket — or even a close loss — would reset the electoral calculus. If Democrats are struggling here, what does that mean for other Southern states like Georgia and North Carolina, where the party has made gains by copying the Virginia playbook and where Democrats hope to defend or pick up Senate seats in 2022?
“Virginia was barely contested in the last presidential election, but a Youngkin victory might put it back in play, squeezing Democrats by making them play defense with working-class white voters in both the upper Midwest and in more diverse Sun Belt states where the party had been making gains lately.”
Progressives Ready to Give In
November 2, 2021 at 6:28 am EDT
Punchbowl News:
“After weeks of saying that they wouldn’t vote for the bipartisan infrastructure bill until they get ironclad assurances that Manchin and Sinema will back the Build Back Better Act, leading House progressives now say they’re ready to vote for both this week. Speaker Nancy Pelosi told her leadership team that the Rules Committee could meet Wednesday on this legislation, signaling a possible floor vote by the end of the week on BBB and the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
“Progressives, who had been holding the line successfully for weeks, have softened their opposition, in part because they don’t want to be blamed for the continued delay in advancing President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda, especially following last week’s debacle over the bipartisan infrastructure bill.”
Playbook:
“Why the sudden change? With a Democratic defeat in Virginia’s gubernatorial race today now looking like a real possibility, nobody wants to be blamed for a loss.”
Biden Never Campaigned to Be FDR
November 1, 2021 at 10:20 pm EDT
Walter Shapiro:
“It was always folly to believe that Biden and the Democrats could top the New Deal and LBJ’s Great Society with a 50–50 Senate and just three votes to spare in the House. The White House deserves some of the blame for encouraging unrealistic expectations about what was ever possible in a Congress poised on the knife edge.
That'a almost 4.75 trillion.
Racism is still a blight on American life. But wokeness is not how we heal; it has simply redefined the problem to the benefit of educated elites. By focusing on immutable characteristics like race, the woke moral panic has allowed economic elites to evade responsibility for their regressive view that elites should not only exist but rule. And in presenting race rather than class and income as America’s deep and worsening divide, the purveyors of wokeness have ended up comforting white, liberal elites, even as they have called them white supremacists.
It would have been impossible without the media. Once a tool to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable, today American journalism comforts the comfortable, speaks power to truth, and insists on an orthodoxy that protects the interests of the elites in the language of a culture war whose burden is given to the working class to bear. In his book “What’s the Matter With Kansas,” Thomas Frank famously asked why white, working-class voters were voting against their own economic interests. But in 2016, when they voted in their own economic interests, those in the media called them racists.
The cost of erasing people who are economically working class from the conversation, the cost of concealing rather than exposing the class divide, has deepened and perpetuated inequality. This is plainly a disaster for anyone who truly cares about a more just society. And certainly for any nation that wishes to see itself as a democracy.
https://bariweiss.substack.com/p/how-journalism-abandoned-the-working
I certainly agree that it is not the racists, but the billionaires, who are ruining our country.
There's where our focus needs to be.
GOP Pollster Predicts Youngkin Win In Virginia
November 2, 2021 at 10:33 am EDT
GOP pollster and strategist Frank Luntz predicted on CNBC that Glenn Youngkin (R) is likely to defeat Terry McAuliffe (D) in Virginia’s close gubernatorial race, setting up a shaky midterm season for President Biden and Democrats next year.
Said Luntz: “There’s about an 80% chance that the Republican nominee beats Terry McAuliffe.”

Pelosi Tells Democrats Full Speed Ahead
November 2, 2021 at 10:42 am EDT
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told Democrats in a caucus meeting this morning that she hopes to finish negotiations on the budget reconciliation bill by midday today with a Rules Committee hearing on the legislation tomorrow, Politico reports.
That would mean House could vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill and/or budget reconciliation bill by Thursday or Friday.

Global Supply Chains Are a Mess
November 2, 2021 at 11:08 am EDT
“Last year the global economy came juddering to a halt. This year it got moving again, only to become stuck in one of history’s biggest traffic jams,” Bloomberg reports.
“New indicators developed by Bloomberg Economics underscore the extremity of the problem, the world’s failure to find a quick fix, and how in some regions the Big Crunch of 2021 is still getting worse.
“The research quantifies what’s apparent to the naked eye across much of the planet — in supermarkets with empty shelves, ports where ships are backed up far offshore, or car plants where output is held back by a lack of microchips. On the House side, the Democrats will begin preparing to meld a $574 billion surface transportation bill coming out of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee with some water-related legislation from the Energy and Commerce Committee. This will head to the floor next week, delivering on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s promise to pass an infrastructure package by the July 4th recess
