President Biden said the U.S. wasn’t going to pay immigrant families who were separated at the Mexico border during the Trump administration, throwing into doubt settlements the Justice Department has been negotiating to resolve legal claims by the families. “That’s not going to happen,” Mr. Biden told reporters at the White House on Wednesday.
The White House referred questions about the president’s remarks to the Justice Department, which said it “will not comment on ongoing litigation.” Mr. Romero said later Wednesday that the Justice Department had assured the ACLU that talks were continuing. “If we can’t achieve true restitution” he added, “we’ll take our case on behalf of our clients to court.”
So is the story true or false? According to the WSJ and the Justice Department, there are negotiations going on and the number flying around is $450,000 per illegal law breaking non-us non-citizen. The President flat out denied the story, but when the people in charge are asked, they claim that they cannot talk about it because they are in ongoing negotiations. That sort of confirms that the story is true and that the President is basically just lying.
The problem is that the political climate in this country has changed dramatically over the past year. While I don't recall it specifically I would have no trouble believing that the President did in fact make a promise that illegals entering the country illegally who were separated legally from their families would get paid for being criminals. While it is dumb policy no matter how you look at it, there is no reason to believe that he didn't promise it.
Now he is pretending that such a promise and such a policy is not in place, even as the Justice Department admits that they are in fact negotiating settlements. This is like Baghdad Bob telling us there were no Americans in that city while we watched American tanks drive by behind him. Biden is demanding something isn't true at the same time the Justice Department is admitting it is.

That has to be a lie, doesn't it?
Donald went over there and stood right next to Kim and did kissy kissy with him, didn't he? And told us what a good relationship they had?

So tell us Reverend...
Why are these questions being referred to the Justice Department and why is the Justice department admitting that they are in litigation and negotiations?
Are you saying that Joe Biden's Justice Department is lying?
Nope. I'm saying Biden is telling the Justice Department, "Get real! The people of this country still determine policy."

Donald went over there and stood right next to Kim and did kissy kissy with him, didn't he? And told us what a good relationship they had?
Actually Trump left without a deal because Kim wanted full sanction relief that Trump refused to give him. Most people thought that the rhetoric between the two countries was worse than it had been, blaming Trump for that even though he was the first President in lord knows how long to actually be allowed into North Korea. But there was no real progress made.
That being said, Kim pretty much stopped testing ICBM since that day, although I doubt that will continue now that Biden is sleeping on the job.
Reality Reverend.
Biden is President now. Kim is HIS responsibility.
Our country is done with finger pointing and childish name calling. They want substantial policy, not wokism and Trump hate.
Tuesday's elections should have taught you that.
Nope. I'm saying Biden is telling the Justice Department, "Get real! The people of this country still determine policy."
So this was when, Reverend?
Because as of yesterday the Justice Department is still in litigation nd negotiations according to the Justice Department and will not comment on the ongoing negotiations. Perhaps you know something that the Justice Department doesn't?

The right-wing Democrats (mislabeled “moderate”) follow along for their own reasons. These are not hard to discern in some cases: It’s not a great surprise that a coal baron who is Congress’s leading recipient of fossil fuel funding (Manchin) should proclaim the fossil fuel industry’s “no elimination” slogan, or that a top recipient of donations from the pharmaceutical industry (Sen. Kyrsten Sinema) should be holding back badly need drug pricing reforms. That’s normal in a political system mired in corruption.
But the rot runs deeper.
It’s often been observed that the U.S. has a one-party political system — the business party — with two factions, Democrats and Republicans. In the past, the Republican faction has tended to be more dedicated to the concerns of extreme wealth and the corporate sector, but with the resurgence of the one-sided class war called “neoliberalism” under President Ronald Reagan, the leadership has been going off the rails. By now they barely resemble a political party in a functioning democracy.
Since the late President Jimmy Carter years, the Democrats have not lagged far behind, becoming a party of affluent professionals and Wall Street donors with the working class handed over to their bitter class enemy.
One of Trump’s occasional true statements was that Republicans could never win a fair election on their actual programs. Recognizing this, since President Richard Nixon’s Southern strategy, the party has been mobilizing voters on “cultural issues” — white supremacy, abortion, guns, traditional patriarchal families, God (favoring the evangelical Christian variety)… anything that doesn’t lift the veil on their loyal service to their prime constituency. That way they can at least stay in the running, exploiting the deeply undemocratic features of the electoral system with its built-in advantages for their largely rural voting base.
All this and much more has been extensively discussed elsewhere. We need not elaborate here. It’s playing out in the halls of Congress right now. The extent to which the U.S. is an “outlier” glares at us wherever we look, sometimes in ways that verge on obscenity. Take paid maternity leave. In the U.S.: none. In the next largest country in the hemisphere, Brazil: about four months. That’s in addition to the universal health care, free higher education, and other public benefits that are found almost everywhere.
To be fair, the richest country in the world, with unparalleled advantages, is not alone in denying paid leave to new mothers. (Fathers? Forget about it.) The U.S. is joined by the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea and Tonga.
Recently a lead columnist for the London Financial Times quipped that if Sen. Bernie Sanders was in Germany, he could be running on the right-wing Christian Democrat ticket. Not just a witticism, and not a comment on Sanders. Rather, on the socioeconomic system that has been created in the one-party state, dramatically so in the era of vicious class war since Reagan.
It was not always thus. In the 1930s, while continental Europe succumbed to fascism, the U.S. forged a path toward social democracy on a wave of militant labor activism, lively and diverse politics, and a sympathetic administration. Years earlier, the U.S. had pioneered mass public education, a major contribution to democracy and social justice; Europe lagged far behind.
It’s beyond irony that now Europe is upholding a tattered social democracy while the U.S. declines to Trump-led proto-fascism, or that under Trump, the secretary of education sought to dismantle public education, carrying forward the neoliberal principles that underlie the sharp defunding of public education aimed at its elimination. All this is rooted in the “libertarian” doctrines of Milton Friedman, James Buchanan and other leading figures of the movement, closely linked from its origins to the attack against government “overreach” by desegregating schools.
It’s worth recalling that these doctrines had their origin in bitter class war in interwar Austria, as we’ve discussed before. They are well-suited for its resumption in the neoliberal era.
The Biden effort to move the U.S. somewhat toward the humane norms of other OECD countries is still not dead, but it has been virtually neutralized in Congress. The Republican organization is rock-solid opposed. Its red lines include preservation in full of their one legislative achievement under Trump, “the U.S. Donor Relief Act of 2017,” as Joseph Stiglitz termed the wholesale robbery, which punched a huge hole in the deficit (for a “good” cause, so OK). By charming coincidence this near-$2 trillion gift to the very rich and the corporate sector is about the same as the measly remnants of the Biden reconciliation bill (spread over 10 years) that have barely survived the right-wing assault.
This time the “deficit threat” is definitely not OK, as is loudly proclaimed. Not a good cause this time. Wrong recipients: the poor, workers, mothers and other “unpeople.”

Audit: Wisconsin Could Have Counted Enough Illegal Votes To Tip The 2020 Election To Biden
By Dan O'Donnell
NOVEMBER 4, 2021
Wisconsin’s presidential election was not held in accordance with state law, according to a new audit. Tens of thousands of votes should not have been counted.
Explosive revelations in the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Bureau’s report on the 2020 presidential election confirm what many in the key swing state have long suspected: Those tasked with administering the election willfully ignored and openly violated state law.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC), the governmental body tasked with administering elections in Wisconsin, is comprised of six appointed commissioners, three from each political party, and a staff that reports to them. Critically, if the commissioners deadlock on an issue before them, no official action is taken and local authorities are left to interpret the recommendations of WEC’s staff.
As a result, the overwhelming majority of WEC’s decisions during the 2020 election cycle were essentially made by unelected, unappointed, and obviously left-leaning bureaucrats. Both they and the commissioners who oversee them were downright derelict in their duty to fairly and impartially supervise an election run by city and county clerks and poll workers who were not properly trained and did not receive accurate, lawful guidance.

That confirms that there were talks of settlement payments going on. So you have two choices here when it comes to Joe Biden. Either he has no idea what is going on — a completely believable thing when it comes to Biden. Or he is lying his head off — also completely believable since he frequently does that, as well.
Who could ever believe you would have this situation where an administration could do such a thing, all while Americans are suffering under the boot heel of Joe Biden’s inflationary economy?
The ACLU points out something else, as well — that by describing “separation” as “criminal,” Biden and the Democrats were essentially hurting the legal position of the U.S. when it came to such actions. Indeed, instead of making the comments Biden did or paying, the response should be that the people entered illegally and broke the law. If they’re ignorant of the process of the law, that’s not the fault of the government, that’s their own fault. But because Biden and the Democrats wanted to attack President Donald Trump, they threw the country under the bus on this issue.

Trump has been out of office for several months, yet his influence among Republican voters remains unwavering. What continues to drive the pro-Trump crowd?
Noam Chomsky
We’ve often discussed it before, and there has been extensive investigation by social scientists — most convincingly, in my opinion, by Tony DiMaggio.
It’s not just Trump, though he has shown real genius in tapping poisons that run deep in U.S. history and contemporary culture, and in portraying himself as “your savior” — even “the chosen one” — while stabbing you in the back. That’s no small accomplishment for a person with few talents other than chicanery, fraud, and wielding the wrecking ball to destroy everything he can’t claim as his own.
But it’s not just Trump. We can also ask why Nixon’s racist Southern strategy succeeded, or Reagan’s quite overt racism — in his case, apparently sincerely held. We can ask why the abortion and gun frauds took hold, or why in the face of overwhelming evidence, segments of the left join the far right in anti-vax campaigns, at enormous human costs, or why “more than half of President Trump’s supporters [in 2020] embraced the QAnon conspiracy theory of a global satanic pedophile ring that was plotting against the 45th president of the United States,” who was valiantly trying to save the children from such “prominent pedophiles” as Biden, Hillary Clinton, and other “Deep State” suspects.
The signs of collapse of the social order are too numerous and familiar to review once again. To a large extent, it can be attributed to the impact of the one-sided and vicious class war of the past 40-plus years. There are deeper cultural and historical roots. It’s not just the U.S. European racism and xenophobia is even more malevolent in some respects. One sign is the corpses in the Mediterranean, victims of the frenzy of Europe’s dedication to torture the survivors of its centuries of destruction of Africa.
The effort to reveal the roots of such pathologies is no mere academic enterprise, and not just these. We can add the pathologies of the rich and powerful, including the deplorables who hurl the epithet at others. These have been far more consequential. Efforts to understand are of value primarily as a guide to self-reflection and to action to find remedies.
And quickly. Our strange species doesn’t have a lot of time to spare.
Tribalism is in our DNA.
But people who can think objectively can get around it
Biden Voters Actually Gave Youngkin the Win
12:00 pm
William Saletan:
“It’s true that Trump has a lot of supporters, and many turned out for Youngkin. In the network exit poll, 42% of people who cast ballots in the Virginia gubernatorial race said they had a favorable view of the former president, and they voted almost unanimously for Youngkin.
“But these people were outnumbered by the 54% of respondents who expressed an unfavorable view of Trump. If that majority had voted for McAuliffe with anywhere near the same degree of unanimity, Youngkin would have lost. Instead, the Republican won by peeling away one of every six anti-Trump voters.
“On average, in these polls, Youngkin got more than 7% of Biden voters, while McAuliffe got only 2% of Trump voters. Biden voters, not Trump voters, were decisive.”

Newsmax host who claimed vaccines have satanic trackers benched and suspended
David Badash,
Newsmax's Emerald Robinson may or may not be vaccinated but she is finally getting a dose of reality.
Twitter has suspended Robinson and Newsmax has "benched" her as well, taking her off the air at least temporarily, after she used the popular social media site to claim vaccines contain a Satanic "tracker" she called "Luciferase."
“Dear Christians," Robinson, who has been labeled an “anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist," falsely tweeted Monday night, “the vaccines contain a bioluminescent marker called LUCIFERASE so that you can be tracked."
“Read the last book of the New Testament to see how this ends," she added, linking to a strange animation that supposedly supported her extremist falsehood.
Robinson's account went silent Tuesday, and NCRM noticed that tweet had disappeared, with a placeholder from Twitter that reads: "This Tweet is no longer available because it violated the Twitter Rules."
Two other tweets from Robinson were marked: "This Tweet is no longer available," and another tweet has received a "misleading" warning label from Twitter.
Mediaite reports it was told by a Twitter spokesperson Robinson's account "has been temporarily locked for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy."
Unconfirmed reports say the suspension is for seven days.
Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple adds that Newsmax is "benching" Robinson while it reviews her posts.

Biden admitted that paying migrants could motivate more people to try to enter the U.S. illegally.
"If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah, but it's not true," he said.
The ACLU, though, tweeted that the president "may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own DOJ."
"We respectfully remind President Biden that he called these actions 'criminal' in a debate with then-President Trump, and campaigned on remedying and rectifying the lawlessness of the Trump administration," ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero said, the New York Post reported.
"We call on President Biden to right the wrongs of this national tragedy."
Asked about Biden’s comment on Wednesday, a Justice Department spokeswoman said "the department will not comment on ongoing litigation," The New York Times reported.
Families were separated under then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ April 2018 "zero tolerance" policy of prosecuting all adults apprehended after illegally crossed the border. Trump signed an order to end family separations in June 2018.
Lawsuits have been filed on behalf of parents and children who blame government for leaving them with "lasting psychological trauma," according to the Journal, which added that about 940 claims had been filed.
The Journal reported that the departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services were considering payments to migrants. Although the amounts have not ben finalized, the news outlet reported the total could be almost $1 million for a family.
Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday said it was "incomprehensibly stupid" that the Biden administration is planning to pay illegal immigrants who were separated from their parents $450,000 each.
"Of course, their whole policy at the southern border has been a disaster from day one," Pence told Fox News Channel." "By implementing what is known as the remain-in-Mexico policy, we reduced illegal immigration by 90%. President Biden rescinded that policy on day one."
Biden spoke and answered questions Wednesday, the day after Democrats suffered a stunning defeat in the Virginia gubernatorial race and shockingly almost lost the New Jersey governor’s race.
The president blamed former Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s loss in Virginia on the number of "very conservative folks who turned out in districts."

STUDY: Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine linked to increase in rare brain blood clots
A new study suggests that Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine raises the risk of developing rare blood clots.
The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, compared data from the general population prior to the pandemic to data gathered from reported vaccine side effects suffered by Americans.
The study discovered a “significantly higher” incidence rate of brain blood clots (cerebral venous sinus thrombosis / CVST) in people following vaccination with the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The risk was greatest in women aged 30 to 49, with the majority of CVST events occurring within 15 days of vaccination.
Despite the fact that this is a serious side effect, the authors warn that the higher rate of this rare adverse effect must be considered in the context of the vaccine’s effectiveness in preventing COVID-19.
Blood clotting, specifically cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), is a well-known side effect of the J&J vaccine, and its use was halted in April due to the discovery of this risk.
What The Study Did: Resarchers compared post-Ad26.COV2.S (Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) vaccination cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST, a blood clot in the brain) rates with prepandemic rates to estimate postvaccination CVST risk. The rate of this rare adverse effect must be considered in the context of the effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing COVID-19.

“The Jan. 6 riots happened in the Capitol,” U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan told Trump’s lawyer. “That is literally Congress’s house.”
Though the hearing concluded without a ruling, the judge appeared to be deeply skeptical about Trump’s assertion of executive privilege—and concerned about the scope of the requests, some of which she described as “alarmingly” and “unbelievably” broad.
“An Important Argument and a Monumental Argument”
On Oct. 18, Trump sued the Jan. 6th Committee, its chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss), the National Archives and Records Administration, and David Ferriero, asserting that the files sought for the investigation were privileged. The nature of the files that Trump wanted to protect emerged later.
Court filings indicate that Trump asserted executive privilege over 770 pages of documents. Those include 46 pages of records from the files of former chief of staff Mark Meadows, ex-senior adviser Stephen Miller, and ex-deputy counsel Patrick Philbin, the New York Times reported. Trump also reportedly opposed releasing the White House Daily Diary and a call log between him and then-Vice President Mike Pence concerning Jan. 6.
In his opening remarks, Trump’s lawyer Justin Clark emphasized what he characterized as the “monumental” nature of the case, which he called a “case of first impression for this court.” The case asks Judge Chutkan to determine whether a former president can assert privilege for documents over which current President Joe Biden has waived privilege.
“It’s not just an important argument and a monumental argument,” Clark said, but it is one that will have consequences for “generations.”
“Thank you for reminding me of that,” Judge Chutkan remarked, laughing.

OUT: Masks as source control.
IN: Masks as punishment and social ostracism for choosing not to get a vaccine.
Biden's OSHA mandate is even worse than previously reported.

If the President was not informed about it then he didn't lie.
The ACLU, though, tweeted that the president "may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own DOJ."
He didn't know about it yet...
