Pelosi needs 13 Republicans to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill as several members of "the Squad" vote no

Bill originally negotiated by group of 22 Democrats and Republicans in the Senate

So the silliness of it all is that the Progressives could have caved and passed this bill two or three weeks ago. All of the pomp and circumstances and rhetoric and back and forth has become moot.  In fact is was all for nothing. The progressives gained nothing. In fact the cost of the BBB continues to drop as they held their ground. In the end, they caved as they always do and got literally nothing but embarrassment for their efforts.

Meanwhile, Pelosi had to count on Republicans to get her past the line. That had to be a very very tough pill to swallow. She got schooled and ultimately did nothing but stall and harm her own Party and personal brand.

Already Democratic Senators are admitting that whatever the House eventually passes on the BBB agenda will have to be altered in the Senate. Some are admitting it will likely have to be significantly altered.

Now Manchin, Sinema (and likely 2-3 other Democrats who are less vocal) are in complete control. There is nothing that the progressives have anymore that is currently "up their sleeve".  They hold no cards. Zero. No leverage. Nothing. The timing couldn't be worse as recent polling shows Americans against spending trillions at this point, and the elections earlier this week were a disaster for the Democratic Party.

When Democratic leadership understand that their actions in this wild crazed spending spree will cost them everything during the 2022 election, they are admitting that they are literally going against the prevailing opinion of most Americans. Not very democratic of them, huh?

How many jobs would it create?
Senators and the White House are touting the huge number of jobs this bill would help generate. Many construction jobs do not require college degrees, though they do require some special skills. Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, estimates growth of about 660,000 jobs could result by 2025. Interestingly, construction has been one of the few industries with slow job growth in recent months. The bill includes funding and provisions to get more job training programs going and to get more women into the construction and trucking industries.

The construction unions provide free training programs during their apprenticeships. Most people don't understand how complex construction jobs are.

They don't fucking care probably because they have no intention of losing in 2022. 2020 showed the world that they can steal a national election right out in the fucking open with the help of the MSM. They've been emboldened to believe they can never lose again. Look at NJ. Outright theft of a governorship. Look at the shit that Fairfax County VA THOUGHT about pulling. They don't fucking care.

Believe them when they chant "This is what democracy looks like!" because to them that's EXACTLY what it looks like.

Power. By any means necessary.

You seem to have forgotten that the Democrats will use the reconciliation process to pass the BBB bill. If the two Senators go along with the President and get something to take back their hom states and say that we know how to govern and again provide reduced medical costs, even without insurance coverage.

Unbelievable! The American people are being robbed & pillaged- day/night by out of control spending in Congress. The Infrastructure Bill passed while Americans slept. It’s filled w/ Socialist Green New Deal, oppressive social justice regulations. This Bill is directly tied to the

falsely titled “Build Back Better” bill which is going to be voted on (probably while we sleep) in a matter of weeks. The two bills go together. Americans are grossly overtaxed & burdened. People are struggling to pay for gas, dramatically increased heating bills, & high food

prices. Our Country is being dominated by radical elitist leftists & one party rule. Our country is desperate for real leaders with courage, backbone and common sense. I am angry w/ those Reps that voted for this massive dung sandwich. My children & your children deserve better.

I will continue to fight forward for a structurally sound America at all levels. One where Congressional Reps are true servants to the people, ensuring fiscal responsibility.-Building common sense infrastructure. Secure borders. Strong economy. Decreased regulations on Americans.

Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Will Boost Hispanic Business

COMMENTARY

By Javier Palomarez

President Biden and his allies in Congress have gotten major infrastructure legislation over the finish line, and America’s Hispanic workers were watching. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act dedicates more than $1 trillion to help America run more efficiently and work more effectively. It is one of the biggest such investments in a generation.  Way back in August, it passed with a strong bipartisan majority in the Senate — a rare accomplishment in today’s Washington. But until late Friday, this bill was waiting to be passed by the House. held hostage as progressives fight with moderates about other spending priorities.

Make no mistake: Pumping more than $1 trillion into fixing a variety of problems — from potholed roads to weakened bridges to slow rail transportation — is a major achievement for President Biden and the Democrats and Republicans who supported it. But once the politicians in Washington finish patting themselves on the back, somebody’s going to have to implement this bill’s infrastructure solutions. That’s where the real work of this legislation will be delivered. And that’s where we come in: America’s Hispanic workforce, tens of millions strong.

In my last few years when I was working as a carpenter a lot of Hispanic joined the unions.

More bottom up is might reverse the election results among Hispanics.

What’s in the agreement for roads, bridges, transit and water?

The bill includes $110 billion in funding for roads, bridges and major projects, as well as $39 billion to modernize and make public transit more accessible to the disabled and elderly. Significant chunks of that money will go to major city transit systems, like New York City’s, based on federal funding formulas.

The deal also includes a $66 billion investment in rail maintenance, modernization and expansion, most of which will go to Amtrak. It would also alter Amtrak’s stated mission to focus on “the intercity passenger rail needs of the United States,” rather than turning a profit or at least breaking even, something the system hasn’t done since its creation in 1971. The system is attempting a major overhaul to provide a reliable alternative to flying and driving outside of just the Northeast Acela corridor.

The legislation will provide $11 billion in funding for highway and pedestrian safety programs. A total of $7.5 billion will go to implementing a network of electric-vehicle chargers, and another $7.5 billion will be used for zero-emission or low-emission buses and ferries. Ports and airports will be boosted with $42 billion in new spending.

The group agreed to spend $50 billion to bolster the country’s infrastructure generally against climate change and cyberattacks. Another $55 billion will go toward clean drinking water, and $65 billion will go toward broadband infrastructure and development. The deal invests $21 billion in removing pollution from soil and groundwater, job creation in energy communities and a focus on economic and environmental justice. The legislation will include $73 billion to update and expand the power grid.

The deal includes a $66 billion investment in rail maintenance, modernization and expansion, most of which will go to Amtrak.

The broadband section of the bill would establish a grant program to expand access to underserved areas, with nonprofits, public-private partnerships, private companies, utilities and local governments all eligible for project funding. It would also make a pandemic emergency benefit for internet access permanent, though it would lower the monthly subsidy for qualifying households to $30 from $50, but would include $100 for equipment. Around four million households currently use the emergency benefit, according to the Federal Communications Commission.

off topic but something roger should have insight to:

Gov. Newsom remains out of public sight to deal with family obligations
Gov. Gavin Newsom's last public appearance was Oct. 27, when he received a coronavirus booster shot.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A week after abruptly canceling plans to attend the United Nations climate summit in Scotland, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has receded from public view to deal with unspecific family obligations.

When the surprising announcement was made Oct. 29, a spokesperson said Newsom planned to participate virtually in the conference this week. But the California delegation's schedule at the meeting this week, released by the governor's office, did not include Newsom.

https://abc7.com/gavin-newsom-california-governor-newson-family-obligations-today/11202905/

rumors out here are that he has had an adverse reaction to his booster shot?

Like so many are having at least anecdotally

Do you have any insight from California ?

with no long-term studies and now a very effective therapeutic are these really necessary anymore ? Especially as more risks are showing up.

But he must really be fine and all this is nothing to be worried about, right ?

Especially since parents are being mandated by him that 5 year olds and up are to get vaccinated.

🚨 Emails obtained via Freedom of Information Act confirm CDC changed the definition of “vaccination” in September, just ahead of Biden’s vaccine mandate announcement, in an attempt to control the narrative. Why improve vaccines when you can just change the definition?

Techno Fog
@Techno_Fog

Why did the CDC change the definition of "Vaccine"?

We obtained CDC emails via FOIA for the answer.

CDC emails:
Our vaccine definition is "problematic and people are using it to claim the COVID-19 vaccine is not a vaccine based on our own definition"

https://technofog.substack.com/p/cdc-emails-our-definition-of-vaccine?justPublished=true

So the "vaccine" didn't meet the CDC definition of a vaccine. So they changed the definition.

Good thing they completed extensive long term testing like they did with polio

Joe Biden has two immediate goals: to control the pandemic and to make the benefits of the economy more generally available. He said it in his victory speech this morning: How do we give you some breathing room? Where “you” represents the American people, and “breathing room” means protection from disease and some financial security.

Rolling out the vaccines is a big part of getting the pandemic under control, but the Republican willingness to die in order to obstruct progress has slowed things down.

Biden’s legislative program is aimed at financial security for everyone and broadening the job market. The American Rescue Plan, passed last year, has already greatly decreased poverty in the United States. What started out as the American Jobs Plan and got split into the bipartisan infrastructure act (BIF) and the Build Back Better Act (BBB or BBBA). Roughly, BIF is asphalt and concrete, and BBBA is human infrastructure.

My concern about the two acts is that we must improve the economy to have a hope of winning Congress next year. If we don’t win Congress next year, there’s a good chance we’ll get a Republican For Life in 2024. Last week’s votes were too close, and the media is settling on a narrative of “Dems can’t get it done.” The timing of BIF passage is good. During the next year, signs will go up around the country: “This [bridge improvement/ road resurfacing/ increase in internet availability/ new tunnel from NJ to NYC/ etc] is brought to you by President Biden’s and [local member of Congress’s] Bipartisan Infrastructure Act.”

Even if the BBBA doesn’t pass (and there is reason to believe it can), the Democrats will have made people’s lives better in ways that matter. That can make a difference in next year’s election.

I'm not surprised. I don't know the legal issues..but it could be an overreach

federal appeals court has temporarily blocked the Biden administration's COVID-19 vaccine rule for large companies on Saturday, citing "grave statutory and constitutional issues" with the mandate.

What You Need To KnowA federal appeals court has temporarily blocked the Biden administration's COVID-19 vaccine rule for large companies
The order from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit cited "grave statutory and constitutional issues" with the mandate
The rule required businesses with more than 100 employees to mandate COVID-19 vaccines for their workforce or submit to weekly testing
The requirement was set to kick in Jan. 4, and failure to comply could result in penalties of nearly $14,000 per violation

President Joe Biden in September released a pandemic action plan, which required businesses with more than 100 employees to mandate COVID-19 vaccines for their workforce or submit to weekly testing. The requirement was set to kick in Jan. 4, and failure to comply could result in penalties of nearly $14,000 per violation.

The order from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit came after more than a dozen Republican-led states filed lawsuits against the Biden administration over the rule.

On Friday, attorneys general in 11 states were the first major group to sue, in a filing led by Missouri and joined by Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Iowa’s Democratic Attorney General Tom Miller.

“This mandate is unconstitutional, unlawful, and unwise,” said the court filing by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, one of several Republicans vying for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat next year.

In a statement released Saturday, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican, praised the court's action, saying it "not only halts Biden from moving forward with his unlawful overreach, but it also commands the judicious review we sought."

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

It might be an overreach of authority by the President .

Employers aren’t required under the new policy to provide or pay for tests, with potential exceptions if collective bargaining agreements compel them to do so. In addition to producing a weekly negative test, unvaccinated employees must also wear a mask in the facilities.

Employers who don’t comply with the requirements could face penalties of up to around $13,600 per violation. The requirements don’t apply to employees who don’t report to a workplace where other individuals are present, employees who only work from home, or employees who work exclusively outdoors.

Mr. Biden said he was reluctant to issue vaccine requirements but said he felt he had exhausted other options after some Americans refused to get vaccinated despite a monthslong campaign by the administration promoting the shot.

The White House has repeatedly expressed confidence in the legality of the vaccine requirements.

Charge employee fees doesn't sound great...

Well Roger...

glad after Democrats still have tire track marks on their foreheads from the election last week, that you feel that Democrats "won" something by passing a bill that was actually written in part by Republican Senators.

But I seriously doubt that people's lives will be changed within the next 12 months with a bill that is spread out over a ten year period. If Democrats are banking on that, then they are really stupid.

Again... the issues from these elections don't go away.

People believe we are on the wrong track, the President has been a disaster in everything, inflation is out of control, and ultimately the general public pendulum is swinging extremely hard back to the right on social issues involving race, political correctness, and cancel culture.

This is not a "messaging issue" or something they can spend their way out of. You cannot just buy the general population roses and hope they forgive you.

No-Joe economic policies wrecking the middle and low income budget today and for years to come.

"Consumer borrowing accelerated by far more than expected in September, as American households dealt with rising prices by swiping their credit cards and taking out more loans.

Total consumer credit increased $29 billion, up from a $13.8 billion gain in August, according to data released by the Federal Reserve Friday.

Economists had been expecting a $15.5 billion gain, according to Econoday.

That’s a monthly gain of 0.7 percent, well above the decade average of 0.4 percent. Compared with a year ago, consumer debt is up 4.9 percent.

Consumer prices rose 0.4 percent in September and were up 5.4 percent compared with the prior September.

The gain in September translates into an annual growth rate of 8.3 percent in September, a big pick up from the 3.8 percent pace in August.

Revolving credit, which is mostly credit cards, rose 11.8 percent, which follows a 3.4 percent gain in August.

Expansions in revolving credit can be an indicator of economic confidence and can help an economy grow. But they can also be a signal of economic distress if cash-strapped households are turning to credit to make up for income gaps."

Dennis lost yet another debate to me.
