Michael Flynn sparked a backlash on Twitter after saying there should only be one religion in the United States.
Flynn, a retired Army lieutenant general who briefly served as Donald's Trump's national security adviser, made the remarks during the "ReAwaken America" conference in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday.
"If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion. One nation under God and one religion under God," Flynn, who was recently forced to refute claims from believers of the QAnon conspiracy theory that he worships Satan, said.
Flynn also called Steve Bannon's indictment after defying a subpoena from the House panel investigating the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol an "abuse of freedom of speech."
He branded the investigation an "insurrection crucifixion" and compared House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Pontius Pilate, who ordered the crucifixion of Jesus in the Bible.
"This is a crucifixion of our First Amendment, freedom to speak, freedom to peacefully assemble," Flynn said. "It's unbelievable."
Flynn's comments that the U.S. should only have one religion prompted condemnation on Twitter.

The Department of Education has offered some clarification, but it focuses on the “discrimination” portion of the law, not the “divisive concepts” portion. And if the department’s guidance really is the whole story, the “anti-critical race theory” law doesn’t actually prohibit critical race theory at all. After Governor Chris Sununu signed the bill into law, more than half of his diversity council quit.
While many states have anti laws that are also vague, New Hampshire has added another layer guaranteed to chill classroom speech; teachers who violate the law can be brought before state authorities and lose their license if it is found they have “discriminated against an individual or identified group.”
To further up the ante, the state has now set up a website to let parents and students to turn in teachers that they believe have violated the law. Students and parents may fill out this form, a questionnaire that can be submitted to the state. There’s a space to describe “what action was taken against you that you believe to be discriminatory” which can include any differentiation in privileges, discipline, harassment, or retaliation. It asks the parent if they have filed a complaint with the court of the Department of Education, and gives the option of giving race and national origin of the complainant.
If State Commissioner of Education Frank Edelblut’s encouragement to turn in a teachers is not enough, Moms for Liberty’s New Hampshire chapter has also gotten involved. Moms for Liberty, the national group that started out advocating for reopened schools and an end to masking policies and then moved on to agitating against CRT, has decided to put a price on the head of New Hampshire teachers.
On Friday, the group tweeted “We’ve got $500 for the person that first successfully catches a public school teacher breaking this law. Students, parents, teachers, school staff...We want to know! We will pledge anonymity if you want.” End someone’s career, and collect a bounty. (The term “bounty” is not hyperbole; in response to a question about how to contribute, Moms for Liberty NH suggested to PayPal them and mark “CRT Bounty” in the notes.)

Donald Trump's apparent defense of his supporters call to "hang Mike Pence" is just the latest rationalization for political violence by right-wing Republicans.
The twice-impeached one-term president justified the threats in a recorded interview with ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl, saying "people were very angry" that he had lost the election and that Pence refused to go along with his scheme to remain in office, and Washington Post columnist Philip Bump said it may not even be the worst offense by a GOP politician this week.
"Trump was sitting there offering the same nonsensical, self-serving chaff to a prominent journalist that he might offer to attendees at a Mar-a-Lago fashion show or a crowd at a rally — mostly because he has never had the ability to moderate his rhetoric or to evaluate its political utility beyond the question, 'How excited do my fans get about this?'" Bump writes.
He pointed to comments or social media posts made this week by Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance, that appeared to threaten political opponents or justify violence against them.
"Given all of this, if you were to choose to commit an act of violence against an elected official in the name of opposing socialism (supporting spending on infrastructure) or stopping voter fraud (which plays no meaningful role in election outcomes), what might you expect the response to be?" Bump writes.
A recent poll found nearly one in five Americans agreed "true American patriots may have to resort to violence," but that figure rises to three in 10 Republicans or nearly four in 10 among those who believe the election was stolen from Trump.
"Gosar's cartoon was a cartoon, sure, but one that cast political disputes as physical ones," Bump writes. "Greene was simply encouraging people to complain to Fred Upton, she argues, but when the nature of those complaints emerged, she simply pushed them further. Vance is just criticizing a legal process — by dehumanizing his perceived opponents and rationalizing vigilantism. And, of course, Trump is doing nothing more than calmly explaining why someone who had been lied to about the election might then think that Pence deserved a death sentence."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, which took over the investigation, said on June 14 that it was too early to ascribe a motive for the shootings.[4] It put out a request for public assistance with "any information regarding Hodgkinson".[49]
On June 16, USA Today reported, citing an anonymous source, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation found a list of names, including those of Republican Congressmen Mo Brooks, Jeff Duncan and Trent Franks, in Hodgkinson's pocket.[59]

Many neighbors who have seen this bumper sticker are disturbed by the tactless and profane message that young children can see it when they are playing and walking by. Whether you support Joe Biden or not, this display of profanity is unacceptable behavior.
Everyone has the right to express their views, but not in public this way. The sticker is purely profane and shows a lack of judgement. If this person with this bumper sticker on their truck had any foresight, they would recognize that by displaying such a sticker in a county where Biden voters are prevalent is not going to help their business.

Donald Trump's apparent defense of his supporters call to "hang Mike Pence" is just the latest rationalization for political violence by right-wing Republicans.
The twice-impeached one-term president justified the threats in a recorded interview with ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl, saying "people were very angry" that he had lost the election and that Pence refused to go along with his scheme to remain in office, and Washington Post columnist Philip Bump said it may not even be the worst offense by a GOP politician this week.
"Trump was sitting there offering the same nonsensical, self-serving chaff to a prominent journalist that he might offer to attendees at a Mar-a-Lago fashion show or a crowd at a rally — mostly because he has never had the ability to moderate his rhetoric or to evaluate its political utility beyond the question, 'How excited do my fans get about this?'" Bump writes.
He pointed to comments or social media posts made this week by Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance, that appeared to threaten political opponents or justify violence against them.
"Given all of this, if you were to choose to commit an act of violence against an elected official in the name of opposing socialism (supporting spending on infrastructure) or stopping voter fraud (which plays no meaningful role in election outcomes), what might you expect the response to be?" Bump writes.
A recent poll found nearly one in five Americans agreed "true American patriots may have to resort to violence," but that figure rises to three in 10 Republicans or nearly four in 10 among those who believe the election was stolen from Trump.
"Gosar's cartoon was a cartoon, sure, but one that cast political disputes as physical ones," Bump writes. There has been a contractor working on a nearby home for a month with a bumper sticker on his truck that is visible to everyone that walks through our neighborhood, including pre-school and school children who live nearby. It reads “F**k Biden Harris”
Many neighbors who have seen this bumper sticker are disturbed by the tactless and profane message that young children can see it when they are playing and walking by. Whether you support Joe Biden or not, this display of profanity is unacceptable behavior.
Everyone has the right to express their views, but not in public this way. The sticker is purely profane and shows a lack of judgement. If this person with this bumper sticker on their truck had any foresight, they would recognize that by displaying such a sticker in a county where Biden voters are prevalent is not going to help their business.
