Have to wonder when the fool proof plan gets implemented?
On top of everything else we have a new strain of Covid to deal with. While the Omicron variant seems less lethal than the other strains, it will no doubt kill at least some people. But mostly we have a problem with the fact that we are still seeing a thousand deaths a day and we are just heading into the cold and flu season.
The push to vaccinate seems to have slowed down with just over 60% of the population fully vaccinated and 71% or so have at least one dose. Of course, now we are saying that we are not really protected unless we get that booster, which in spite of absolutely zero testing to supply any evidence our powers to be claim it will be effective against the new strain. This is being claimed in spite of most of the people who have gotten the variant were vaccinated and the booster really is more of the same.
Meanwhile, President stop Covid in its tracks has now overseen over 382 thousand dead from Covid and the number of dead under Biden could pass the number of dead under Trump by the end of December and almost certainly by the end of his first year in office.
Meanwhile we have three states, Michigan, New Hampshire, Minnesota, over 500 cases per 100,000 right now and Vermont is not far behind at 484. All of those states are reporting cases at a rate ten times that of Florida and Texas (the Covid boogie states). I might also point out that Nevada is moving up the charts at 430 in spite of being one of the six remaining states to still have a mask mandate.
Not sure what the plan is or what the plan should be... just that whatever it is that we are doing is not working to change anything and it's quite possible that nothing we can do will actually make that much of a difference.

The Omicron variant has been detected in 38 countries but no deaths have yet been reported, the WHO said on Friday, as authorities worldwide rushed to stem the heavily mutated Covid-19 strain's spread amid warnings that it could damage the global economic recovery.
The United States and Australia became the latest countries to confirm locally transmitted cases of the variant, as Omicron infections pushed South Africa's total cases past three million.
The World Health Organization has warned it could take weeks to determine how infectious the variant is, whether it causes more severe illness and how effective treatments and vaccines are against it.
"We're going to get the answers that everybody out there needs," WHO emergencies director Michael Ryan said.
The WHO said on Friday it had still not seen any reports of deaths related to Omicron, but the new variant's spread has led to warnings that it could cause more than half of Europe's Covid cases in the next few months.
The new variant could also slow global economic recovery, just as the Delta strain did, International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva said on Friday.
"Even before the arrival of this new variant, we were concerned that the recovery, while it continues, is losing somewhat momentum," she said.
"A new variant that may spread very rapidly can dent confidence."
A preliminary study by researchers in South Africa, where the variant was first reported on November 24, suggests it is three times more likely to cause reinfections compared to the Delta or Beta strains.
The emergence of Omicron was the "ultimate evidence" of the danger of unequal global vaccination rates, Red Cross head Francesca Rocca said.
South African doctors said there had been a spike in children under five admitted to hospital since Omicron emerged, but stressed it was too early to know if young children were particularly susceptible.
"The incidence in those under-fives is now second-highest, and second only to the incidence in those over 60," said Wassila Jassat from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases.
In the US, two cases involved residents with no recent international travel history -- showing Omicron is already circulating inside the country.
"This is a case of community spread," the Hawaii Health Department said.

In reality the stock market is flailing. Under Trump at the same time the market was up around 23%. Today it is up 10% under Biden. I suspect that will get worse before it gets better.
We just had a marginal black Friday and Cyber Monday showed a retail decrease for the first time since we had a cyber Monday.
We are still down nearly four million jobs from the Pre-Covid Trump economy and our participation rate is lagging by almost 2% from Pre-Covid Trump. All things being equal our unemployment rate would be closer to 6% than what it is.
Wages are not keeping up with inflation, meaning our real buying power is decreasing under Biden.

That means that they do not know what impact it is or will be having. If they knew, they would provide their conclusion rather than just say they are studying it.

The Delaware Democrat thus reveals what has long been apparent to all but the willfully blind.

Anthony Fauci earned a medical degree in 1966 but if he ever practiced medicine it was only for a short time. In 1968, to avoid treating wounded American soldiers in Vietnam, Fauci took a cushy “yellow beret” job at the National Institutes of Health.
Fauci’s bio shows no advanced degrees in molecular biology or biochemistry. Nevertheless, in 1984 he became director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Nobel laureate Kary Mullis, who earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from UC Berkeley, thought Fauci was unqualified for that position. According to Mullis, inventor of the polymerase chain reaction, Fauci “doesn’t understand electron microscopy and he doesn’t understand medicine. He should not be in a position like he’s in.” But he was.
Fauci claimed that AIDS would ravage the populace, but as Michael Fumento showed in The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS, that was hopelessly wrong. As UC Berkeley molecular biologist Peter Duesberg revealed in Inventing the AIDS Virus, Fauci networked with pharmaceutical giant Burroughs Wellcome and recommended azidothymidine, also known as AZT and marketed under the names Zidovudine or Retrovir.
In 1989, Fauci’s NIAID conducted trials of the drug on pregnant mothers injected with HIV. As Duesberg noted, “A drug that interferes with growth can lead only to physical deformities in babies developing in the womb.” Instead of engaging Duesberg on the facts, Fauci deployed cancel culture against the distinguished Berkeley professor.
According to the National Institutes of Health, gain-of-function research increases the lethality and transmissibility of viruses. In 2012, Fauci warned that such research could lead to an outbreak and trigger a pandemic. Even so, Fauci’s NIAID funded the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Communist China, where gain-of-function research could be conducted in secret, with no accountability. The WIV also received a shipment of deadly pathogens from a lab in Canada, courtesy of Chinese scientist Xiangguo Qiu.
In early 2017, Fauci proclaimed there was “no doubt” President Donald Trump would be confronted with a surprise infectious disease outbreak. In early 2020, Fauci praised China’s handling of the pandemic and initially opposed Trump’s ban on travel from China.
Fauci is the person most responsible for the lockdowns that wrecked the surging Trump economy and inflicted untold suffering on millions of people. Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo sent some 15,000 people to their deaths in nursing homes. Cuomo claimed he was following federal policy, but when CNN asked Fauci if that was true, the NIAID boss declined to answer.
Fauci lied about funding gain-of-function research at the WIV, and the late Angelo Codevilla pegged the NIAID boss as a deep state fraud. Fauci reversed himself on many aspects of the pandemic but now claims his critics are “really criticizing science because I represent science.” If embattled Americans thought that smacked of megalomania it would be hard to blame them.
Fauci delayed a travel ban on Omicron-infected African countries and then quickly announced that Omicron had arrived in the United States. On Thursday, Biden hinted at new draconian measures, such as seven-day quarantines after returning from abroad, mandatory testing under threat of legal punishment, and barring noncompliant passengers from boarding flights.
That all doubtless comes from Fauci, who recently told a McGill University audience, “there comes a time when you do have to give up what you consider your individual right of making your own decision, for the greater good of society.” Care to guess who would “represent” the greater good?

The pace of Covid infections in the South African province of Gauteng is outstripping anything seen in previous waves, and officials say Omicron is now the dominant variant.
Angelique Coetzee, the chair of the South African Medical Association, said Omicron’s R number, measuring its ability to spread, was believed to be above 6. The R number for Delta, the dominant variant globally, is estimated to be above 5.
Speaking to the BBC’s PM programme, Coetzee said: “We know currently that the virus is transmissible. According to the scientists, the R value is 6.3, I think.”
The chief scientist at the World Health Organization (WHO) urged people not to panic, saying it was impossible to predict whether Omicron would become the dominant variant worldwide.
Soumya Swaminathan said South Africa’s experience showed that Omicron “was highly transmissible”, but added: “How worried should we be? We need to be prepared and cautious, not panic, because we’re in a different situation to a year ago. Delta accounts for 99% of infections around the world. This variant would have to be more transmissible to outcompete and become dominant worldwide. It is possible, but it’s not possible to predict.”
In Gauteng, a populous province that includes Johannesburg and is the centre of the outbreak, public health officials say case positivity rates have climbed from 2% in mid-November to 24% this week.
However, most of the cases seen in the province so far, including by Coetzee, have been described as mild and are in younger patients, who make up a significantly greater proportion of the country’s unvaccinated.
Prof Bruce Mellado, who advises the provincial government, told the Daily Maverick that health officials had seen such a rapid increase in cases in Gauteng over the past few weeks that they had had to recalibrate their projection models. The increase was at a rate not seen before, he said, not even in the third wave, which Mellado described as a “very serious situation”.
Other officials in the province described a 20% rise in the seven-day rolling average of daily Covid cases, and increasing hospital admissions, driven by Omicron.
First reported by South African scientists to the WHO on 24 November, Omicron has prompted some countries to shut their borders, reimpose travel restrictions and ramp up vaccination programmes.
Among the concerns is whether Omicron might be infecting infants with more severe disease than previous variants, after a rise in admissions of under-fives to some hospitals.
At a news conference on Friday, Waasila Jassat, of the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, said: “We’ve seen quite a sharp increase [in hospitalisations] across all age groups, particularly in the under-fives. Despite a rise in virus-related hospital admissions in South Africa, deaths appear to be increasing at a lower rate than during the country’s third wave of Covid. This was underlined by a statement from the WHO on Friday saying it had yet to see any reports of deaths related to Omicron.
Amid increasing evidence that current vaccines are likely to offer a high level of protection against serious disease from the variant, the chief executive of Germany’s BioNTech said it should be able to adapt its vaccine relatively quickly in response to Omicron.
UÄŸur Åžahin told the Reuters Next conference on Friday that vaccines should continue to provide protection against severe disease despite mutations. “This variant might be able to infect vaccinated people. We anticipate that infected people who have been vaccinated will still be protected against severe disease,” Åžahin said.
He said mutations in the virus meant it was more likely that annual vaccinations would become the norm, as is the case with seasonal flu, and that new vaccines would be needed, although it was not yet clear when.
The WHO called on makers of Covid vaccines to gear up for the likelihood of needing to adjust their products to protect against Omicron.

Omicron continues to spread across the United States, and around the world, as scientists try to pin down how fast it spreads and how much of a threat it poses compared to other strains of the virus . As of Saturday morning, omicron cases had been reported in 12 U.S. states, pretty much all of which were among people who had traveled to South Africa recently. None of the cases so far in the U.S. have resulted in serious illness; and the World Health Organization has said that no omicron cases, which have been detected in at least 38 countries, have resulted in death.
WHO officials note that it will take weeks to know how infectious omicron really is and how effective the current crop of vaccines is against the new variant. Experts emphasize that vaccines will provide some protection against the variant, especially against the worse outcomes of infection, like hospitalization and death. “There’s no reason to suppose that they won’t,” Michael Ryan, head of emergencies at the WHO said. That said, preliminary data appears to suggest omicron is able to cause reinfection at a higher rate compared to previous variants, which is of particular concern to countries where vaccination rates are low.
