The same people who believed...

  • That our former President was a Russian asset who colluded with Vladimir Putin to steal an American Presidential election with $100,000 in Facebook advertisement...
  • That one mysterious white guy was responsible for instigating all of the George Floyd riots in Minneapolis...
  • That Donald Trump was somehow responsible for Covid-19...
  • That Police need to be defunded because they are institutionally racist...
  • That approximately 500 unarmed Americans who attended a protest turned sour were staging a planned insurrection coup and attempting to take over the United States Government...
Are telling conservatives that it's conservatives who believe in conspiracy theories?

So we can spend our way out of inflation?

Cool!

Pass a Quadrillion dollar spending bill, make every American a fucking multi-millionaire and let's fucking party!

Conspiracy theories occur when people create links between one or more unrelated events, a process that emerges from the need for the human brain to find patterns.

Victims of conspiracy theories are in jail because they believe the same thing you do.

A QAnon conspiracy theorist who stormed the U.S. Capitol in support of former President Donald Trump was ordered jailed once again on Thursday after he went online to watch conspiracy videos in violation of his conditions of pretrial release.

Doug Jensen was arrested in Des Moines, Iowa, just two days after the Capitol attack. HuffPost reporter Igor Bobic captured video of Jensen at the head of a mob as he chased Officer Eugene Goodman up a flight of stairs and came within a few feet of the entrance to the Capitol building.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Hava Arin Levenson Mirell argued during a hearing on Thursday that Jensen “simply cannot be trusted” and had gone “back to the exact same habits that led him to assault Officer Goodman on Jan. 6.”

Mirell argued that Jensen’s consumption of these videos “symptomatic of a bigger problem.”

“He has no respect for this court,” Mirell argued. ”Mr. Jensen does not deserve a second chance. This is not equivalent to a drug response. There is no chemical dependency here.”

Mirell also said that it was important to note that Jensen had previously claimed to have been “cured of his addition” and felt “deceived” by QAnon conspiracy theories.

Christopher Michael Davis, Jensen’s court-appointed lawyer, likened Jensen’s consumption of conspiracy theories to a “compulsion” and noted that it was internet conspiracy theories that led Jensen to the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Davis argued it “sounds a bit Orwellian” for the government to try to lock someone up for watching an internet broadcast, but conceded that conspiracy theories led him to the Capitol.

I'm watching this right now You would call him a RINO

President Biden, who will speak at the late Sen. Bob Dole’s (R-KS) funeral service today, yesterday called the former Senate Majority Leader “a giant of history.”

There’s no doubt Dole was an important fixture in American politics for decades. And based on a 2014 interview with MSNBC, he seemed to truly understand the problems facing the country, the Senate and his own party.

Said Dole: “Well, there’s some Republicans now in the party who don’t, you know, don’t want to cross the aisle work with the Democrats. They don’t really want to do much of anything. I mean, they’re got some in the House that their primary goal is to get rid of John Boehner as speaker. I don’t know, I thought I was a conservative. But what I believed in was getting things done working with Democrats,”

When asked about the Senate, Dole added: “Well, the Senate may not be broken, but it’s badly bent. And this is going to take some strong leadership from both parties.”

When asked about his own party, Dole said: “We got to have an agenda, we’ve got to have something people can be for something that resonates with the voters. And whether it’s health care, whether it’s immigration, it’s got to be a package of issues that people are concerned about.”

The political environment when Dole made those remarks was bad. There was dysfunction on Capitol Hill, government shutdowns and little got done. And, as First Read notes, it’s obviously gotten much worse today.

All of that makes it very hard to square Dole’s comments then with his support of Donald Trump two years later — and throughout his presidency.

Here’s what else we noticed this week:

The ruling from the DC Court of Appeals that rejected Donald Trump’s claim of executive privilege is about much more than the former president’s claim of “executive privilege.” It’s actually a flashing alarm for investigating what really happened on January 6.
This week marked 80 years since the bombing of Pearl Harbor and America’s entry into World War II. It’s striking that Germany and Japan now have stronger democracies than the United States.I couldn’t bring myself to link to the Politico article this week suggesting that Vice President Kamala Harris was overly “wary” and “too paranoid” to use Bluetooth headphones. That’s because it actually makes sense.I got more than a dozen emails from readers suggesting I “need to apologize” for defending Jussie Smollett, the actor who was found guilty yesterday of falsely reporting a hate crime. Of course, I never once posted news about the case and never really followed it.With New York City allowing non-citizen immigrants the right to vote in local elections, they’ve handed Republicans an issue to bash Democrats that’s perhaps even more politically potent than “defunding the police.” Sen. Tom Cotton has already taken the bait.It must be a miserable existence to think everyone around you — even your allies — are out to get you.

Where are we going?

After 28 years as an anchor with NBC networks, Brian Williams called it quits on Thursday during his MSNBC show The 11th Hour. While his final episode was filled with old colleagues and recurring guests celebrating his career and paying him lip service, his final message was filled with warning.

“My biggest worry is for my country,” Williams said. “I'm not a liberal or a conservative. I'm an institutionalist. I believe in this place. And in my love of my country I yield to no one, but the darkness on the edge of town has spread to roads and highways and neighborhoods.”

“Grown men and women who swore an oath to our constitution, elected by our constituents, possessing the kinds of college degrees I can only dream of have decided to join the mob and become something they are not, hoping we somehow forget who they were,” Williams continued. “They've decided to burn it all down with us inside. That should scare you to no end as much as it scares an aging volunteer fireman.”

He was one of the greatest reporters in history.

But you think he was a Democratic hoax and puppet of Biden and especially Barack Obama because of your racial bias against people of color, even your own wife.

Robin Dole, Bob Dole’s daughter, shared a farewell letter he wrote with a staffer before passing.

“I make the final walk on my life’s journey. I do so without fear because I know that I will again not be walking alone. I know that God will be walking with me,” Bob Dole wrote. “I also confess that I’m a bit curious to learn if I am correct in thinking that heaven will look a lot like Kansas, and to see — like others who have gone before me — if I will still be able to vote in Chicago.”

“I do have one request to make of you,” Bob Dole continued. “Since it was dedicated in 2004, it has been my honor to go as often as I could to the World War II memorial here in Washington, D.C., to welcome and thank the World War II veterans and all veterans … Since I won’t be making that visit anymore, I hope that you will and that you will ask your children and grandchildren to visit veterans’ memorials across America and to never forget the sacrifice made not just by my generation, but by all those who wear the uniform of our country.”

“My final words are the exact ones that Dwight Eisenhower used … nearly seven decades ago: ‘I believe in the future of the United States of America,’ ” Bob Dole wrote.

“I will miss him so much. I think I will still talk to him every night,” Robin Dole said. “I love you, Dad. I promise you will never walk alone.”

the leaders of Ethiopia and Azerbaijan launched wars last year in the regions of Tigray and Nagorno-Karabakh, respectively, drawing on support from authoritarian neighbors Eritrea and Turkey and destabilizing surrounding areas. Repercussions from the fighting shattered hopes for tentative reform movements in both Armenia, which clashed with the Azerbaijani regime over Nagorno-Karabakh, and Ethiopia.

India, the world’s most populous democracy, dropped from Free to Partly Free status in Freedom in the World 2021. The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its state-level allies continued to crack down on critics during the year, and their response to COVID-19 included a ham-fisted lockdown that resulted in the dangerous and unplanned displacement of millions of internal migrant workers. The ruling Hindu nationalist movement also encouraged the scapegoating of Muslims, who were disproportionately blamed for the spread of the virus and faced attacks by vigilante mobs. Rather than serving as a champion of democratic practice and a counterweight to authoritarian influence from countries such as China, Modi and his party are tragically driving India itself toward authoritarianism.

Alky CMS even defines it as such

Institutional Special Needs Plans (I-SNPs)
Institutional Special Needs Plans (I-SNPs) are SNPs that restrict enrollment to MA eligible individuals who, for 90 days or longer, have had or are expected to need the level of services provided in a long-term care (LTC) skilled nursing facility (SNF), a LTC nursing facility (NF), a SNF/NF, an intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IDD), or an inpatient psychiatric facility. A complete list of acceptable types of institutions can be found in the Medicare Advantage Enrollment and Disenrollment Guidance, which is located at the link below.

My mother lived in an independent living senior community till about a week before she died. Her own two bedroom apartment with full kitchen. Technically she was more independent than you, Roger.

She died of COPD and had an oxygen tank with her at all times that last couple of years. Her issues were physical (had issues cleaning the cat litter and things like that). But that was from smoking two packs a day for most of her life, not from any cognitive decline.

Sad story.. I loved their music.

Michael Nesmith, a singer and guitarist for the popular 1960s pop group The Monkees and star of the eponymous TV show, has died at age 78, his family said in a statement.

What You Need To Know
Michael Nesmith, a singer, guitarist and songwriter best known as part of the 1960s pop group The Monkees and the television show that featured the band, died Friday, his family said. He was 78.

Nesmith was born in Houston in 1942. After a tour with the Air Force, he moved to Los Angeles, had some early song-writing success and in 1965 successfully auditioned for The Monkees

The group went on to have a series of hits in the mid-1960s, and Nesmith wrote several songs for the band. The TV show, “The Monkees,” ran for two seasons and won two Emmy Awards

Nesmith in 1969 formed another band, First National Bank, and went on to be heralded as a pioneer of country rock. He participated in several reunions with The Monkees, touring and recording with the group
“With Infinite Love we announce that Michael Nesmith has passed away this morning in his home, surrounded by family, peacefully and of natural causes. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time and we thank you for the love and light that all of you have shown him and us,” his family said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

Nesmith was born in Houston in 1942. Following a stint in the Air Force, the musician moved to Los Angeles and had some early success in music before auditioning for and landing a role in the band, which was created for the TV show.

Nesmith rode a motorcycle to the audition and wore his trademark green wool hat, which stuck in the minds of producers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider.

The band also included Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, and together, during the days of Beatlemania, the four scored a number of hits, including “I’m a Believer,” “Last Train to Clarksville” and “Daydream Believer.”

“The Monkees” aired for just two seasons, from September 6, 1966, to March 25, 1968. In that time it earned two Emmy Awards, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series.
